You get to Change/ modifiy / Unlock a number of weapons / skills/ throwbles
Primary weapon, Secondary weapon
I also loved the "Infinite Mag/ bottomless mag/ Lever Action feed mechanism" in the game, i think this is the 1st time we have this mechanics
There's also a Plenty of characters from the DLCs, although they all feel like the same, at least their skills are different
A lot of Secret to find, tons of puzzles to solve
I loved the Egypt settings for some reason
Much better if you can play with friends
7/10 Very Underrated game
I hope there's more improvements on the Characters progression, weapons upgrade system, perks, skill tree from Rebellion studio

Visually the game is stunning. The vibrant colors, level design, attention to detail, all top notch - very nice to look at.
Combat wise, enemies move very slowly so they are easy to pick apart one by one, but in some cases where you do get swarmed, you can just dodge spam your way out. On easy, the game is laughably easy but on extreme it can be quite challenging at times, even for 2 people (with 4 it becomes easy again).
There are a total of 9 levels that are always the same, no procedural generation, no random swarms of enemies. A few additional weapons to unlock with gathered gold, some gems you can collect will add a modifier to your gun, and there are a few additional skills to unlock for your character. There are collectibles in a form of journals, urns, cats, and relics. The puzzles shouldn’t even be called puzzles, they are ridiculously easy. It would have been cool if more attention was put into them to make them more challenging, it would have created a proper treasure hunting experience.
That’s about all that the game is - pretty basic, nothing spectacular, but alright. There is about 15-20h of content. If you can get it with friends, on sale for only $5, yeah it can definitely be worth it for that price.

4 players coop with puzzles and Egyptian enemies.
SB is super straightforward – run from A to B, activate crystals, kills resurrected mummies, monsters, pick some gold solve few riddles and proceed. You can trap your friends and even kill them too! ;)

There are many characters to play as,
plus each has individual abilities (I went for American shoot 'em all!)
Their upgrades, weapons and powers are locked behind in-game exploration and collectibles, so make sure you check glowing symbols and pat a kitty, m’kay?

If I hear “strange brigaaade” one more time…!
Who wouldn’t love AI commenting your actions, success and kills? Right, some would...
There’s that annoying voice describing what you’re doing and, oh man, I’ve heard him saying “strange brigaaade” like hundreds times. If this was a drinking contest “take a shot each time the storyteller says it”, I’d be wasted.
Levels are very juicy, bright and picturesque.
Waterfalls, jungle, mountains, golden statues, etc-etc. Put on a pause and take a selfie. ;)

You fight mummies, and for the most part both the enemies, puzzles, and levels are fairly varied, there's also a ton of different collectibles to get in each level, plus you can also get different kinds of weapons and amulets to upgrade them and give your guns different kinds of effects, such as ricocheting bullets, or maybe even some fire bullets that also have a chance to freeze your enemies.
Throughout your journey the whole game is narrated by a pretty funny narrator filled with a series of different comments that feel entirely dynamic and don't repeat that much in order to keep things fresh.

Gameplay-wise, it's a pretty straightforward action co-op game. Mechanically it doesn't do anything really new, but it's still solid.
The puzzles were generally interesting and there was pretty good variety. None were frustratingly difficult.
I do have a few gripes though:
* The DLC weapons are just flat-out better than the non-DLC weapons
* Money is pretty worthless. Only a handful of items are worth buying and it doesn't take very long to get them.
* Runes (weapon upgrade items) are very rare, and there's no way to chase a specific upgrade. The difference between an empty weapon and a fully-upgraded one is very noticeable, making the RNG here all the more frustrating (and experimentation with weapons/upgrades much more expensive, time-wise).
* Amulets (magic powers) are locked to certain characters. There's no freedom to mix-and-match between character upgrades and magic powers. This is made all the more apparently when contrasted with weapons: all characters can use all weapons.
So while I do recommend this if you're looking for a co-op action game, get it on sale and get the DLC.

But I think that's the point?
This is one of the best co-op games I've played in a while. The story is thinner than the barrier between blood and brain, but that's because it's more of an aesthetic.
Gameplay is about precision and accuracy—kind of like Sniper Elite Nazi Army, but loosier and goosier. Rather than ADS being necessary to not have aim cancer, the aiming feels like Rebellion was experimenting with their take on more casual hipfire and ADS accuracy. Granted, despite this game's more casual feel, the hip fire still feels a little erratic and the ADS walking speed is geriatric. I don't hate the aiming, however—the central part to the gameplay for me is getting into a rhythm of popping mummy heads with the bolt action rifles.
The survival modes are actually super intense and I 100% recommend trying them out.
Honestly, I see myself playing this more in the future when we have time to grind the rest of the chievos; I got my dollar-per-hour out of this one for sure.

This is Sniper Elite 3.5, with zombies and a hell of a lot of rolling.
It looks very pretty (particularly for the gorgeous backdrops) and has pretty good audio - the character voices and narrator dialogue is entertaining and well scripted. The animations are well done, and the story, whilst very short, is fun enough.
Let's also set aside DLC, which Rebellion usually indulge in - outrageously, but whatever.
Sadly, the core gameplay is inherently just... poorly polished. It's a horde shooter with fairly frequent elite enemies of lots of different types - indeed, it often gets very crazy with dozens of enemies on screen. However, the game asks a huge amount of accuracy from players. Zombies are thin (skeletons are worse!) and shamble from side to side, and the game is incredibly unforgiving with hitboxes.
This might be acceptable, but gets made worse by bullet-spongey elites who do very high damage to you - and all enemies can just magically teleport in behind you, particularly in horde mode. As a result, you end up almost constant rolling and taking snap shots, or you swiftly get overwhelmed (although in one of the few well polished features, the game features a subtle on-screen warning indicator, to tell you to dodge).
This problem is at its worse when the minotaur minibosses spawn - particularly the giant git with a scimitar, who needs to be very accurately hit in tiny glowing weakspot in order to do damage. It's usually easier to run away from them and clear trash, before getting time to deal with them. Even the basic bulls are incredibly tanky, taking multiple clips to kill.
The game makes an effort to recommend coop, but my god is it poorly implemented. Gold (required for unlocking weapons) is not shared between players; instead, its picked up by individuals or earned from kills - not damage. Gems (special upgrades slotted into guns) are also not shared, and are randomly spawned, meaning it's easy for someone to 'accidentally' take critical upgrades.
Horde mode, which is fun, is also poorly done. There are a set number of gems on the map, regardless of number of players. Hope the right gems you need spawn and no one else in your party also needs those. The gaps between horde waves are a measly 25 seconds, in which you need to locate your new ammo box/shop, get there and buy any upgrades - and no, the game won't pause if everyone is in the menu at the same time.
The list goes on. Health potions - not shared. Souls (energy for superpowers) - not shared. Canopic jars - not shared.
Fun - sometimes shared. But not for £40.

The graphics are fantastic with lots of attention to detail. Each level is well done with lots of traps and puzzles to avoid and complete. Lots of weapons and abilities to unlock. But the campaign is very short. There are only 9 levels and each takes about 45 minutes to complete. Horde mode is fun but gets boring after awhile. One of the main problems I came across is the balance between single player and multiplayer. Single player was Challenging at times even on easy difficulty, but Multiplayer was very easy on the same settings. There seem to be a lack of balance.
Overall I would give it a solid grade but only on sale. 7/10

Regarding the gameplay: The story is relatively short. But there are different difficulty levels, horde mode and a point mode. The story is the best mode. Fight your way through hordes of zombies, mummies, skeletons, minotaurs, etc. The individual mini bosses are also very entertaining and sometimes have their pitfalls and metas. At the same time, there are little puzzles and riddles to collect gold. These are relatively easy but must first be understood. There are also items that can be collected. This ensures that you play the campaign at least twice to collect everything, as you won't find everything the first time. The story is exaggerated, but still entertaining and interesting. The only thing that bothered me is how easy the last fight against Seteki was. There were small bosses that were much harder to fight. So, the ending was unspectacular, easy and extremely unsatisfying. They could have made something much better out of it.
The horde mode is very fun. Fight against swarms of enemies until you have completed all the rounds. In the process, you can buy and upgrade weapons, open hidden rooms with gold, etc. There is a large selection of maps, which makes it never boring.
I still must try out the points mode.
Visually, the game also looks very good. The decorations, the maps, etc. are very nicely done and the characters have been thoughtfully designed. Everything is very appealing.
The soundtrack is also good.
An overall great game. Definitely one of my favourite co-op games with a high replay factor.

Its a 3rd person shooter. Though it shows to be a co-op game it feels like the narrator and puzzles are designed to be mainly for SP playthroughs. The Narrator does a decent job of keeping it lively as a SP campaign and does have a few funny moments.
Judging by the map design in my playthrough i am having trouble picturing 4 players in some stages since some fights in corridors might be too close .
Gameplay is barebones 3rd person shooter with just basic dodge as an escape. There is just a Skill button which is just a more powerful grenade type of weapon with carious effects. The reason why it still made me play is that there are puzzles scattered around to be solved and was fun to see but repetitive (which again seems to be not designed for co-op, unless someone can comment that it will have different puzzle). Puzzles are normally just hide and seek type.
Pros
- Enjoyable even as Single player
- Adding puzzles adds a bit of treasure finding feel to the game
Needs improvement
- Slightly bigger maps? I can see this to be ok as a Duo but some parts are too cramped for 4 players
- Needs more content for weapon types

Lovely, detailed graphics + great background music
Easy and fun to play
Good story
Funny quips
Has a variety of entertaining puzzles
Cons: (Few and not that bad at all actually!) The early 20th-century British-accent commentary is fine and funny at times even but it gets too much sometimes. I got used to it after a while + You need to do at least 2 playthroughs to get most of the achievements + There are some achievements that you need co-op for.
All in all, solid gameplay and, dare I say, mindless fun! Highly recommended

Initially, the price was off-putting and we were very hesitant to purchase the game outside of a sale, but now we are very glad we did. There isn't a HUGE amount of content no, but what is available is extremely fun especially with friends and I enjoyed every moment.
Being surrounded by hordes of creepy undead, solving puzzles, exploring the STUNNING maps, collecting trinkets to unlock interesting amulet skills.. the list goes on. There are so many parts of this game that I adore! I honestly recommend this if you enjoy adventure and killing a looooot of monsters, it's extremely satisfying. Also, the narrator does a fantastic job and keeps it interesting & funny at the same time.
Overall, I agree that it probably is best to pick it up on sale, but at the same time I am still very satisfied with the product. If you're looking for a super large game with tonnes of stuff to do? This isn't that - even though the price would maybe suggest it. But? I wanted to play a game and shoot loads of zambers... that's what I got. Grab it on sale.

For me, the standout aspect for this game is the great character & heart that the developers have put into it. This can best be characterised by the great voice acting, which embraces regional accents for characters and is narrated in the accent of a 1940's BBC Home Service presenter. Every step of progress is rewarded with entertaining comments.
In the interests of balance, if I was looking for a criticism of this game, it would be the element of repetition that can be apparent in some of the levels. They look different, but play in a similar way, with more complex puzzles/obsticles and more fierce bad guys to dodge and shoot. This is a minor criticism, as the increasing complexity adds greater engagement.

You follow the story of The Strange Brigade, a group of Secret Service agents sent by the British colonial government from the 1930s. They have 1 mission: Eliminate Seteki, a queen that ruled Africa about 4000 years ago. She was thrown into a tomb until in 1930 an archaeologist released her spirit. Up to you to fix it!
So gameplay reminded me a lot of the Nazi Zombie Army games. You walk from area to area and shoot down hordes of enemies and guns feel very similar. Does it matter that they’re so similar? No! It’s a great base to build a game upon. The only downside me and my friend felt, is that after a couple of hours it starts to feel repetitive. Yes there are some fun puzzles here and there, and some interesting mechanics like the amulet and random weapon boxes but in the end it comes down to: Kill -> Go to the next area -> repeat.
You can however customize weapons a bit, buy new weapons and special abilities. There’s also a lot of collectibles to find, so if that’s your thing you will have a blast.
The story is in my opinion not as good as it could be. Narrative is fun, but the overall story is lacking a big main thread that links everything together. Making it hard to follow.
Graphics are nice to look at, environments are full of detail and diverse enough to stay interesting. I especially liked the part that maps are not just big straight forward hallways, but actually have some depth and sometimes you walk above a point you encountered earlier. There’s also traps to activate and kill enemies with which adds a bit of extra depth.
Overall Strange Brigade doesn’t have a lot of diversity, but it's fun. It’s just the right length and has some replayability. It’s best enjoyed with a friend in my opinion, but should be fine to play alone. I would look forward to a sequel for sure. I do recommend this game, but buy it on sale for sure. It’s not worth the 50 euro price tag.

About the DLC's are they worth getting them ?
In way yes but it is a 50/50 on this one even if they don't bring much more to the story ,no new weapons or even enemies ( not counting the paid extras ( not really worth it ) ) or even characters ,but if you do decide to get this you should buy the deluxe edition , that's my advise .
In overall i give this game 8.5/10 .

Pros:
Supports photo mode.
Includes Horde Mode and Score Attack for more replay value.
Humorous narration.
Neutral:
Have numerous jump scares, although they are not really scary but you can still be surprised if you are unprepared.
Just like Shadow of Tomb Raider, hearing the undead speaking English is just so out of the place and immediately kill the immersion, but it's just my opinion.
I feel the loot placement is a bit too much in the game. I think roughly 30-40% of my playtime on each level was running around, collecting coins and opening chests.
Cons:
Every cutscene have a 'hold X to skip' prompt and you can not hide it.

Grab 2 or 3 mates and get the game when it's heavily discounted and I'm sure you'll have a blast, replayability is quite low though.

pros
+ beautiful graphics
+ vertical maps
+ variety of weapons
+ gunplay gets better with some upgrades and stronger weapons
+ nice puzzles
+ fun with friends
cons
-- characters, story and narration aren't interesting nor engaging and feel more like a rushed afterthought
- ugly & inefficient HUD with a flashing special power
- too grindy. Hard to gather enough gold and weapon upgrades in one playthrough
- gunplay feels too weak at the start
- weird movement that is either too fast or too slow
Verdict
Strange Brigade is a decent COOP game, but it isn't very engaging and it couldn't keep me interested for longer than one playthrough. This can be a problem due the game's grindy nature. Strange Brigade's gunplay starts fairly weak and only gets better with upgrades and gold - both of which you won't gather to your satisfaction in one playthrough. Strange Brigade is probably better suited for players who want to finish it more than once.Overall, Strange Brigade feels kind of flawed and left me with mixed feelings. It can still be recommended if you are looking for a game to play with your friends.

Think of Left4Dead2 meets Indiana Jones in a 4-player team coop game with a bit of magic and some treasure hunting. It is 3rd person and a little less non-stop 'actiony' compared to l4d2. That's because in between fights you have to explore a bit and solve the occasional riddle. I like this game mixture. Also the setting is cool and the maps are good looking and fun too. You can find gold and artifacts and buy better weapons and new spells but aside from that your character stays as he/she was in the beginning. That is an advantage as it means no one is uber compared to anyone else. Every player is basically on the same power level and can play together.
Aside from campaign (single-player and multiplayer coop) there are other playmodes which I haven't tried yet.
Like l4d2 you can play this game for an hour when you feel like it, totally noncommital and then stop without losing anything. Good to relax. Or play longer if you want. But the game mechanic does not force you to.
Whether this will become one of my fav games for 10 years (like l4d2 did) I cannot say yet. But I can definitely recommend Strange Brigade.

Instead of focusing on combat, puzzles, etc. everyone is searching and fighting for loot. Not only you have to be faster to get to it, but even if you will find it first, it can be stolen from you if your co-players will click faster, at the right time. Imagine this: you find a box, you open it and … another player takes its content.
Not only it is incredibly frustrating by itself, but it also shifts focus from beating the game to beating your co-players.
Everything else is acceptable, even fun, however, it still is not enough to compensate for that absolutely horrible looting system.

TL:DR
Fancy killing mummies, minotaurs or giant scorpions? Enter secret tombs in the Egypt of 1930 and face the dark world risen by the 4000 years old Seteki the Witch Queen. A beautiful third-person shooter with co-op gameplay, with no apparent story, no-brainer, full of humor and funny to play. A game that should have received much more attention from players, but unfortunately expensive, with dead multiplayer and no great story. I would gladly recommend this game for half its price-tag, best buy if on sales.
INFO
- This review is a personal opinion. Try the game for yourself.
- The reason for my negative vote is the high price-tag for what you get in exchange.
- Even if maps are gorgeous and look different, this game is meant to be played just to kill time and beasts. The main goal of this game is to shoot hordes of enemies, over and over again, nothing more, nothing deeper, aside from several puzzles and the trap system. It is also not meant to get you scared, but to keep you entertained for several hours. Sometimes a bit too cheesy, the commentator's humor may still be a good company.
PROS
- Single player and 1-4 co-op campaign (with no actual story).
- Very good graphics and good feeling of scaling.
- Good optimization and fps count.
- Full ultrawide support.
- Four playable characters to choose from, each with its own style, skills and weapons.
- Decent puzzles and hidden treasures for completionists.
- 12 missions on 12 maps (9 in the base game and 3 in DLCs).
- British humor narrator that makes you feel like in a funny tournament.
CONS
- The game is too expensive for what it has to offer.
- Not really a story, no interesting narrative, just a few cameos giving you vague hints about what's going on.
- The game can easily become very repetitive.
- Very small variety of weapons and customization options.
- Like the game itself, the DLCs do not worth their price, they only give you an additional map (mission) each and if you want to play in 4 player co-op mode, all players will have to buy the DLC. If you want even more than the 12 maps, you also need to buy the season pass.
- Low replayability, really, which is a shame for a co-op game. You do it once and that's it, no reasons to come back.
- No chest loot sharing in co-op.
- The game has its own auto-save feature that may force you to replay certain content if you got killed.
- Multiplayer is kind of dead.

First Impressions
Strange Brigade (SB) came up in a Humble Bundle monthly, and had pretty good reviews, so I went ahead and activated it for myself. Not long ago, some of my friends bought the game while it was on sale, and we gave it a shot. I've played both on my own and with them, which is easy to switch back and forth between, and beat all the stages. Does this make for a noteworthy brigade, or just a strange game to avoid?
Gameplay
SB is a 3rd person shooter, with you buying 11 primary and 4 secondary weapons, obtaining 9 gems with useful powers, and looking for historical artifacts that unlock amulet abilities. These abilities are charged up by absorbing souls, and can do things such as raising undead soldiers or freezing enemies. Each of the 4 characters fight enemies with their own emphasis. For instance, Fred is a marksman who deals splash damage if he kills enemies with head shots, while Nalangu steals HP by doing melee damage. The gunplay is okay, though you get into a cycle of retreating to maintain distance because enemies become much harder targets up close. I try to melee enemies if they get too close, but it can be unreliable, as you'll make a slight misjudgment and whiff an attack. Plus, the results vary widely based on the foe, as you either knock them down and get a free kill, or your melee attack barely hurts them.
There are 3 game modes in SB: Campaign, Horde, and Score Attack. Campaign Mode consists of 9 stages, which tend to take around 40 minutes to complete, if you're exploring and searching for secrets. You'll follow the storyline this way, and unlock the same stages for Score Attack Mode. In that mode, you play through short sections, clearing waves of enemies as quickly as possible in order to earn high scores. There's little point to it, and it feels gimmicky. Horde is a lot like the Call of Duty zombie survival waves, and you have 8 areas you can play in. As you survive waves of enemies, you'll use the money you earn to purchase stronger guns, gems, and ammo refills. There's no reward for beating a round of this mode though, so you'd only play it if you got bored.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2287698193
Controls
It's possible to play with either the mouse and keyboard or a controller, and I opted for a controller. Movement is controlled with the 'L joystick,' while aiming your weapon is done with the 'R joystick.' When your amulet is charged, you can activate it by hitting 'B.' 'Y' cycles through your weapons, and 'A' is a dodge roll. Tapping 'X' reloads your weapon, and holding it down will interact with background objects. In order to fire your weapon, you have to aim with the 'L trigger' first and then hit the 'R trigger' to shoot. Otherwise, 'R trigger' will draw in souls to you. 'L bumper' tosses your explosive, which replenishes itself over time, and 'R bumper' is your melee strike.
Story
The playable characters are members of an elite, underground organization that keep tabs on supernatural forces that could be a threat to the world. Much like the 1999 movie, The Mummy, an Egyptian necromancer is freed and starts raising the dead, with a goal of creating a massive army to conquer the planet. You'll pursue this threat through tombs and ancient temples, seeking to prevent the end of the world. Although you observe the characters in cutscenes, with how intrusive the narrator can be, I get a stronger sense of his personality than any of the people you play as, who are just kind of there. They don't have much dialogue, and don't get an opportunity to show their personalities.

Graphics
I would say there's nothing wrong with the graphics in SB. There's a wide range of options available based on the power of your PC, and the backgrounds have a decent amount of variety considering you remain within one country. However, whenever you find a relic, instead of showing you a 3D representation, it's the same thing every time. An autonomous object wrapped in bandages.
Sound Design
The music somewhat reminds me of a movie soundtrack, because it invokes a feeling of exploration and adventure with its strong percussion elements and quick tempo. However, I don't really notice it very much while playing. All of the cutscenes are voice-acted, though the narrator has the most spoken lines. I think the quality is pretty good, though if you dislike his personality, it'll be a negative.

Pros
???? When playing with others, you can revive fallen players by finding a sarcophagus and breaking them out. There's a time limit for it, but it's long enough to save them.
???? Some of the gems have interesting effects, such as ricocheting bullets.
???? The last boss battle was more engaging than other boss fights.
Cons
❌ Most enemies hobble and shuffle along, which seems appropriate for the undead. However, their strange movements can make shooting their heads difficult. Plus, most of the bosses require you to hit precise targets to do any damage, which is artificially made harder with mobs of enemies preventing you from getting off clean shots.
❌ When playing with others, certain items are shared while others aren't. For instance, diaries can be picked up by every player, one person destroying a cat statue activates it for everyone else, and relics are shared. However, the blue vases have to be destroyed individually, and gold and gems can only be picked up by one person.
❌ There are quite a few puzzles, which seemed to be an emphasis of the game. They're all so easy though, making it come across like a lackluster minigame.
❌ Once you've played through the game once or twice, there's not much reason to keep going back for more.
Tips
???? You'll want to practice killing enemies with your secondary weapon, because the infinite ammo it provides makes it invaluable in various situations. If you are able to fend off most threats with just the pistol, it'll make tackling tougher foes with your primary weapon easier. It's also important to be mindful of where you can replenish your ammo.
???? Enemies can spawn in from anywhere, since they'll just materialize out of nothingness. You'll want to pay close attention to the ghostly hands on the edge of the screen, as that lets you know an enemy is approaching.
???? Once you place a gem onto a weapon, you can't remove it. However, if you don't like that gem on that weapon, you can replace it with another one.
Final Thoughts
Although I enjoy the gameplay of SB, I don't think it offers enough content for the high price it sells for. The fact that the base game has less than 10 stages, all of which take place in Egypt, while portraying this group of adventurers who'd tackle problems globally, doesn't mesh well together. It builds expectations for other rip-snorting treks and dastardly evils that need vanquished, but you only get to play through one adventure. Selling DLC that has a few more stages, characters, and weapons, which easily could have fit into the main game, also doesn't jive well with me. Adding in that the only way you can play with others is for all of them to have their own copies of the game, since there's no local coop available, doesn't help my perspective on the pricing of the game. There's simply too much competition out there for me to recommend spending your money on SB.

Overview
Strange Brigade (SB) is a single player and co-op third-person shooter set in the 1930s. The discovery of Seteki's Tomb (ancient Goddess of the dead) by a British expedition threatens the entire world because of a curse. The Brigade, composed of the world's finest adventurers, is called in to put an end to this threat - while recovering other powerful artifacts that may fall into the wrong hands. Not only brawn but as well brains will be essential to succeed.
???? The Good Side
- Tales of guns, puzzles and secretsWhile primarily a shooter, SB has a strong emphasis on secret hunting and puzzle-solving. Each stage has multiple primary and secondary enigmas to solve, mostly as combination doors of different types. On top of that, collectible Cats and Jars give additional rewards if all are found across a location. Adventurers will ideally spend an equal amount of time between fighting undead hordes and solving puzzles / finding secrets - this gives gameplay frequent pacing variations that prevent it from being too much one-sided.
- Tools of the trade Each of the four available adventurers has different passive and active skills, that suit them best for close or long-range combat - other than different applications. For instance, only one of them is able to open Glyph Doors found in levels. All the brigade members have the same guns, but also four unique active abilities each - unlocked with skill points gained by finding a certain number of Relics (secrets) in levels. These active skills are often very useful or powerful especially if combined with accessories or other members' own skills. There is a decent variety of weapons and character skills to try.
- Seteki's finest Enemy variety is solid across the board, with each stage introducing at least a few new foes. From simple reanimated cadavers to elusive assassins or devastating bomb-throwers - all the way to mighty mini-bosses such as the Champions of Seteki - combat never gets dull as far as variety goes. The presence of many traps in each level that can be used against the hordes, but also being a threat for one's allies, further expands combat possibilities. Some enemies may also require a special approach in order to be defeated, when conventional means fail.

???? The Bad Side
- Now THIS is overpriced! It takes around 6-7 hours to finish the game on Hard difficulty, this with taking time to find most collectibles and secrets as well. The additional modes such as Score Attack and Horde add no new content and are just a filler for achievement hunters, that most players won't find worth doing. The title is sold at a blistering 50€ default price, delivering also not-so-stellar quality overall. Insanely overpriced for what it delivers.
- Indiana Jones cringy wannabees The story and characters are an absolute truckload of cringy catchphrases, embarrassing situations and unnecessarily over-the-top moments that fail to be amusing. Combined with the obnoxious narrator that always seems to be desperately trying to be fun in a forced way, the story becomes an annoyance very soon. Stereotypical in its developments, repetitive and just bland, the narrative of SB is a miserable affair at all times.
- Balance, where art thou? The game fails to properly diversify the various weapon classes and give them a distinct feeling based on their role on the field. The starting murder tools are borderline garbage no matter what - while among mid-tier weapons, only Sniper Rifles prove to be worth using as they adapt decently to all situations without downsides. Shotguns, pistols, SMGs are at all times mediocre. The last and most expensive weapon (Aubley Rifle) is the definitive one, combining SMG rate of fire with Sniper damage, making any other weapon obsolete. The same concept applies to character abilities, only few being really worth using.
Rating: Decent
Click here for the complete Rating Chart
It took me and another 3 friends 6-7 hours to complete the story, then one can replay it on higher difficulties or try the other modes in case. For the blistering price of 50€ and only decent quality, I recommend waiting for at least a -75% sale or browsing the internet to find a better offer on 3rd party sellers. Not worth full price at all.

In-Depth Breakdown
???? Gameplay Analysis
Gameplay is divided into Exploration, Combat, Puzzles and Character Setup.
Exploration
Is performed on foot across reasonably vast locations ranging from abandoned dig sites to haunted caverns. While exploring, an abundance of breakable objects and small Gold piles are present to collect - while also ammo piles and potions are found fairly often to replenish resources. Keeping an eye out for Chests, Relics and Secrets is essential to collect large amounts of cash, skill points, weapon upgrades and lore items one may find in them. Many of such containers are locked behind puzzles or secret paths in each level.
There is no local map and levels often have one-way drops that prevent backtracking after them. Collectibles include Diaries filled with (unremarkable) lore, Cat Statues opening a door before the end of a stage if each is found, and Jars whose purpose remains a mystery, probably just collectibles.
Combat
Plays out like a third-person shooter with no ADS except for a single special weapon, not even for snipers. Enemies range from simple undead corpses to much more dangerous advanced and elite ones: most share the same weaknesses such as headshots inflicting severe damage, melee knocking them down ready for a finisher and traps instantly killing most of them on the spot. Using character abilities at the right moment is important to escape the most intense fights, while also activating traps and explosive barrels scattered around helps a lot against overwhelming numbers.
In case of death, players can be resurrected by a teammate at the nearest Sarcophagus - this can happen infinite times and is really cheesy, as a 4-player team even on Hard, will rarely be wiped out. In case of a team wipe, the level will restart from the nearest Checkpoint. Special weapons acquired from crates costing Gold are potent, but only have one magazine and cannot be replenished.
Puzzles
Are found in each map and mostly are about inputting the correct combination in a door, by finding clues lying around. Some other puzzles are more unique and often related to the main quest. Solving these enigmas grants access to Relics and other useful treasures, often in the form of Gold and Gems.
Character Setup
Can be done before a mission or at a Weapon Table in any level, the latter unable to purchase new weapons or swapping characters though. Each weapon has 1 to 4 Gem slots, using gems found in Chests to enhance that weapon with the relative buffs, such as armor penetration, better damage or elemental powers. Characters can freely choose their Amulet (special power) between four each, carry one Primary and one Secondary (worthless) weapon. New weapons are bought with Gold kept at the end of each mission, while Gems can only be found and Amulets use Skill Points from relic sets.

Great detail in the map design too and some very weird enemies and boss fights...
Some great ingenuity for a different spin on its other Zombie apocalypse games...
Aside from the text chatting, there's not much for me to complain about as haven't encountered anything that strikes me as out of the ordinary or buggy...
Overall judgement? 9/10 :)

That said, I played the game on Hard difficulty from the get-go with a friend, and suggest you do the same if you really want the thrills from trying to get out of a sticky situation combat-wise (running around, trying not to get killed with a sliver of health while trying to rescue my dead teammate from the sarcophagus really got my adrenaline pumping!). The graphics are top-notch, the environmental and other visuals really giving off that sandy, sun-scorched vibe, and coupled with decent musical score, a great narrator and overall good story (if nothing revolutionary) really rounds up the package.
If I had to criticize something, that would be the price - namely, I got the game on 90% sale (around 8€ for the Deluxe version containing all additional content), and I would say that such price is a steal for this title! However, I also think that the regular price of 49,99€ (let alone 79,99€ for the Deluxe version) cannot be justified, especially for a game that is not as enjoyable playing solo as it is playing with other people (playing solo is really just that - you alone, without any A.I./Bots controlling other three characters). I'd say that around 25-30€ for the base game and 50€ for the Deluxe edition would have been a much better price, but I guess the damage was already done since there are not many players playing the game 2+ years since release, and I find that sad... Still, this is something that Rebellion should consider for a sequel, should they ever plan to develop one in the future (and I wholeheartedly urge them to do so, because I really, REALLY dig this format and want to see what comes next for the brave Strange Brigade). With the right price set for a sequel (and lowering the current one permanently to more affordable and fair value), this franchise can really take off like a rocket, even becoming a cult classic down the line!
All in all - this is a definite buy on sale, or full price if they ever consider lowering it to a more reasonable amount (not at 49,99€, sadly)

I had never heard of this game until a friend picked it up in the steam Halloween sale and asked our group to play it with him. we were all deeply surprised. This is a horde game like Resident Evil 5, Gears of War and Killing Floor with a focus on group play and environmental traps.
The game has three modes
Campaign - the story that spans 9-10 levels with traps, puzzles and hordes.
Horde - This was quite good, 15 waves of increasing difficultly.
Score Attack - This mode acts like a time attack mostly, you need to clear a short course as quickly as you can while scoring as many kills as you can.
I'd recommend this for a group of 2-4 friends looking a co-op game that they can put a solid 20 hours into and pick up from time to time for a horde mode.

While single player is basically boring, 4 players co-op is where this game is at it's best. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find an online game, so I would only recommend it if you have friends to play with.
Game length: around 10 - 12 hours
Score: 7/10 for multiplayer.

The characters are interesting, the game looks great, the story and the overall lore is enticing enough and while not being the best third person shooter out there, the gameplay is really decent.
But the best part is probably the narrator which does an amazing job overall. Its integration is superbly done and most of his one liners never gets old (especially those about cats)
I originally had the intention to only try it a bit when I got it in a bundle and I end up finishing the campaign, playing with friends from times to times and collecting almost all collectibles.
I would say it is really worth picking. Especially on sales.

Too many developers just cut out chunks of the content to sell as DLC, when the content was obviously developed along with the base game.
I got this game for £12 in the Humble monthly bundle, and it was worth that price, but would I pay an additional £16.77 for three more DLC missions? No. Maybe when they are on sale.

Gunplay:
The aiming is extremely floaty and wonky. You'll find yourself missing shots regularly because of the game's outdated and downright offensive camera. Where sniper elite has rifles that pack a punch that will devastate the hoards in one shot, even killing two enemies with one bullet at times, here you're equipped with peashooters and every now and then, some tacky mythical gun that is lazily designed such as a golden crossbow with wings that shoots explosive bolts or a thompson with blue glow on it.
Machine guns and bolt action rifles have no punch whereas the revolver shoots your camera up to the ceiling with its ridiculous recoil. The punchline? It doesn't even do damage at distances further than 3 meters, in fact, most guns don't.
Enemies:
$50 is what this game is priced at. What are the enemies you face? Skeletons. There are better asset flipped zombie/skeleton shooters on itch io and that bar is already set extremely low. Scorpions, skeletons, BIG skeletons with pirate hats, skeletons with glowing hearts, and mummies are the core of the enemies you'll face here. Variety was not a priority and boy does it get boring after you've killed your 50th.
Story:
The game tries to be quirky by being themed as a 40's/50's television show in its narration and visual effects such as when you die the game receives a grainy filter with a retro movie countdown until your revival. One of the only redeeming qualities of the game is the originality in this aspect. The story itself is pretty bland boiling down to you're Indiana Jones x4 trying to find some artifacts and happen to have a special power like shooting a cluster of fireballs from your hand after you suck up enough calcium from the skelegoons. Don't expect much. There's lore to collect etc etc, doesn't really add much.
Conclusion:
This game only highlights where Rebellion's weaknesses are. Their trademark sniper series is great for its originality and captivating gameplay yet all of that is thrown out the window here to cash in as yet another basic wave shooter. I could maybe forgive some of the problems I have with it if Rebellion wasn't asking for the absolutely maddening price of $50 for the standard edition and $80 for the deluxe. Thank you Humble Bundle for saving me from what would've been a very depressing buy if I had actually paid full price.

Music fits perfectly on this game's setting.

Set in the 1930's it's action-packed and has loads of puzzles to solve and lots of great weapons & upgrades. It's a great shooter game with 4 main characters who are deffo very strange ... hence the name The Strange Brigade !

Like all Rebellion games, the list price is outrageously high; even moreso with DLC. This is not an $80 game!
Now that that's out of the way, is the game good?
Yeah, it's pretty fun. Navigate levels, assault waves of zombies and mummies, solve little puzzles. There's not a lot to it, really, but it's a good shoot-em-up romp with a friend or 3. You do have friends, don't you? Even alone this is a nice chewing gum time killer. Just don't expect it to change your life, and definitely don't pay more than $20 for it.

Uncover hidden treasures, solve puzzles, annoy the narrator with your incompetence of using your wits and in general: Have fun.
Can definitely recommend this game and it's best played with friend(s)

Story
You play as one of four (with the base game anyway) members of the Strange Brigade, a sort of paramilitary/paranormal investigator/Indiana Jones style group, dedicated to finding ancient relics, new magic, and fighting evil along the way, and in the most cocksure fashion lol.
The characters are all pretty awesome. They're also all hilarious, irreverent, and generally arrogant as well lol. There is a lot of interaction between characters, and the cutscenes always feature fun dialogue. On top of that, they have their version of Charlie or M, a mysterious lady who sends them on their missions. But that's not all. There is also narration, and the narrator interacts with whatever is going on at the time. For me, that was so much fun and was so hilarious. Very much in line with what you get from a game like The Stanley Parable in that regard, but with some James Lipton sprinkled in. Very over the top, almost safari documentary style narration.
The main story features the Strange Brigade trying to stop an ancient demon from destroying the world. In a nutshell. There is also a lot of meta mixed in.
Gameplay
The gameplay is consistent with what you would expect from a game like the Left 4 Deads, Vermintides, etc....the actual gunplay is very consistent with other Rebellion games. There is a small variety of different rifles, shotguns, and pistols. You will carry a pistol and one of the two others. You can also upgrade the guns with a variety of elemental damage, stat boosts and such. Additionally, you have a magic amulet with you at all times, with one of four ability options unique to your specific character. You will eventually unlock all four, but you can only take one with you.
Level design is also what you expect. Some exploration, lots of waves of enemies, some loot, and so on. Some were better than others of course, but all were fun. There was a decent array of enemies as well based on the region, and bosses were pretty fun. Some were more like puzzles whereas others were straight combat. This game also features some tower defense elements, which comes into play when you're in the middle of one of the arena fights in this games. You'll be able to use obstacles and hazards against the waves of enemies...as long as your aim is true lol.
Co-op is really the way this game is intended to be played, and it is a ton of fun whether with friends or randoms. However, as noted before, finding a co-op partner or partners can be problematic with the low player base. It's definitely possible, but i personally had to play about half the campaign solo. That said, it was also fun solo....just not AS fun as co-op. I appreciate that Rebellion included the option though.
Audio and Graphics
The audio in Strange Brigade is masterful. The voice acting is all over the top, pulp style, with a heavy slant in the narration towards appearing to be a nature documentary lol. Each character has a lot of hilarious lines, and the narrator is good for constant chuckles and guffaws. The soundtrack is perfect for the game. All the in world sounds are great as well, and combat is completely on point.
Visually, it is a nice mix of lush environments with cutscenes that feature cool, old newspaper clip/black and white silent film presentation (but without the silence lol). Very steampunk in that pulpy 1920s and 30s type of way. The in game graphics are some of the best Rebellion has offered so far. Lots of cool stuff to be seen for sure. Also, the way each new enemy and every boss is presented as you are first introduced to them or their new circumstances, is always awesome. Sooooo cool in a very noir sort of way.
Verdict
Strange Brigade is really a ton of fun, and it's really a shame that the player base has dwindled so much since launch, but even without the player base, this game is great. This is an easy recommendation, although I'd also recommend buying it on sale given it current matchmaking issues as a result of the low player base. This game will make you laugh over and over and over, the action is there and the puzzles are decent. Give it a go sometime.

While I agree the price is pretty steep, for the haters out there complaining about the price tag, maybe you should have bought it during the winter sale for like 12 bucks like I did! It was so cheap I got the deluxe edition for myself, and a copy for my best friend, Just sayin'...
