Und beichte ihnen, was dich wirklich bewegt.

Beside that I generally like the visual appearance. But that's already all positive points that I can name about this game. Really not for me, maybe I am not the target group. I supposed tech freaks, who want to feel 'being at work' while not being at work may have fun with this ;)

I have no sympathy for people who live so strongly in the past and can't let it go. Even if I choose other dialogue options (more positive ones), the game forces me into this role. I didn't expect that, it makes me aggressive!

First Impressions
The only thing I knew about Still There (ST) was that it took place in space and had pretty good reviews. What I didn't know was how difficult the puzzles would be or that there would be so emotional a story behind the main character. No one could be more lonely than a man isolated in a space station on his own, literally more than the entire circumference of the planet away from another human being. So in that sense, him having unresolved trauma and problems beforehand makes sense, as few would ever willingly put themselves through that. Except for those who thought 2020 was a grand time, I suppose.
Gameplay
Out of some games I've played recently, ST plays more the way I'd expect from a point and click game. There is a limited amount of inventory slots, so you can't freely accumulate every item you can possibly pick up into one massive inventory system. However, for the puzzles you'll have to solve, you won't ever have need of more than a few items at a time anyways, so this helps you from getting too cluttered. You'll interact with some of the instruments multiple times throughout the game, such as the coffee maker and piss recycler (gives a whole new meaning to a morning cup of Joe), but will otherwise keep having to learn what the different computer consoles do. I think one of the weirdest was the piano keys, as I just don't see how that would be of much utility in a space station. “You have successfully played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. You may now open up your horoscope.”
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2791311338
Controls
With how many small objects there are in the environment to interact with, I'm quite relieved that the game is controlled with the mouse. Even then, it was easy to click on the wrong thing by accident, as some items are layered on top of each other and have to be moved around. Some objects have to be interacted with in a really particular order for them to work right too, such as when you make your food. That was much more frustrating than I would have expected it to be. The controls were in the right general idea for the game, but I think they could have been better refined. Plus, I think more of the fault lies with how things were organized and designed, than the controls.
Story
It doesn't take too long for you to find out that the main character, Karl, is a former father who lost his child tragically. What is held onto for later are the details of the incident, and frankly I have a hard time empathizing with Karl's choices. Not being a father myself, I readily admit that I can't imagine the sense of loss or distraught over my child dying, but in comparison his ex-wife is moving forward with her life, having remarried by the time he's still a broken shell. Maintaining a limbo of being stuck in the past, blaming himself, and always lingering over his dead daughter neither does anything to memorialize his daughter nor even punish himself. He just exists for the sake of it, which is utterly pointless. Plus, the circumstances of her passing are fairly contrived, for him to both have enough sense of responsibility to blame himself, yet also be completely innocent of any wrong-doing as he was so far removed from what happened. Conspiratorially, I half wonder if his explained series of events is a half-lie, and maybe it wasn't all that much of an accident. At least then he'd have more reason to be such a washed-up sad sack.
Even if I weren't a heartless bastard, how the story develops into the conclusion is still really wacky. It wouldn't be out of place in a sci-fi short story, but with how grounded the main character's tragic back story and pain was, this twist really bucks the tone. What starts off as a dramatic life and death struggle between Karl and a somewhat surrogate daughter figure stuck in her own lousy situation turns into more of a comic book scenario. By the time the game is over, Karl is being ordained as a hero by the heartless mega conglomerate he works for, as his sacrifice might stop a time anomaly from expanding further and screwing up all of space.

Visuals
Although I hate looking at the computer system due to how much it annoyed me, I must admit that it's a very well made image. The individual objects are smooth, crisp, and have an impressive amount of detail, such as the circuit boards, which is true for the entire space station and most of the game's visuals. I think that the screen gets too cluttered in areas, particularly the living quarters, but it does make the area look lived in, even though it makes finding specific objects a pain. It'd be wrong of me to dismiss the game's graphics, because there's nothing to sleep on here.
Sound Design
For what tone the game sets out to capture, the music for ST is fittingly somber and sorrowful. It certainly isn't engaging enough that you'll be rushing for a chance to listen to them again though, with some of them intentionally including ear-grating sounds. There was another song that also hurt my ears a bit, though I don't think it was made that way on purpose. I think a bit more effort could have led to setting the mood they wanted without having to sacrifice anyone's ears.

Pros
???? The stakes at the heart of ST start off minimal, but are noteworthy and interesting as the game progressed.
???? I was interested in the story at times, but I must admit the ending ultimately disappointed me.
Cons
❌ Some of the puzzles were legitimately challenging and enjoyable. However, I found most of the difficulty stemmed from how things were presented. Having to consult manuals, like you would with actual faulty machinery, hobbled me quite a bit. They're so dry and minimalistic that it's hard to understand what they mean at first or if you're even in the right section. This is one of the worst presentations I've seen with what are otherwise pretty standard puzzles.
❌ As a character, the AI seemed both malicious and whiny/needy, which aren't endearing quality traits.
Tips
???? I didn't know how to progress after finishing all my initial tasks until I double-checked the itinerary. You have to self-medicate yourself to go to bed and start the next day.
???? You'll really have to master the manuals in order to get anywhere in the game.
Final Thoughts
One of the moments that was both most relieving and frustrating was when I figured out the CHK-5 console, and how flipping the switches worked. Once I understood it, it was a piece of cake, but the hurdles in place to figure out what was such an easy process were absolutely infuriating, “Wait... it's that easy? That's all I had to do this entire time?! Oh come on!” For me, it was like another switch had turned on about how this entire game worked, as though some of the puzzles would be tricky later on, the much more difficult part to any of them was making sense of the game's vague instructions and lousy manuals. Additionally, I wasn't huge fans of the central characters in the game, which makes it hard to stick with it. If you find yourself disagreeing with my assessment over the main character, bear in mind that he got it on with a telescope, somehow, and has banged other inanimate implements in the space station. There's desperate and then there's disgraceful. So what can I say, I'm neither a fan of ST or STDs.

It's simple. You can't save.
The game does it but only when it feels like it, and it's more fickle than your companion AI.
Unless they add a normal, decent saving mechanics, I cannot advise people to play this game.

Performing every little action feels unbearably tedious, and it's one of those point & click games where you have to try to combine everything with everything else. I'm still trying to decide if the promise of the story is worth suffering through the clunky and primitive gameplay seemingly designed by cavemen with no experience interacting with modern entertainment software, or possibly space aliens with not much regard for usability by human users, [strike]but for the moment I will not be refunding.[/strike]
Edit: on consideration, I will seek a refund until the discount is on par with regional pricing, at -90% or higher; I am not paying 30% more for imperfection.
I would also suggest that if you are more tolerant of badly designed controls, you may not find them as much of a flaw as I do, but I'd strongly encourage anyone who might be interested in buying this game to have their finger on the refund button just in case it doesn't click with you, for whatever reason.

The puzzles can be extremely hard to figure out a times, but if you stick with it, it finally shows itself and you end up shaking your head at how easy it actually was.
The story is something else. It started off fine and then got weird and then got depressing and then got...
Let's just say the story is a bit.... odd.
Graphics are fine for a 2D scroll about puzzle game. Sounds fit nicely. Soundtrack I found was nice and didn't get on my nerves after a while which is a bonus.
All in all, It's definitely worth a play. Would i pay full price for it, yeeaaahhh since it took me 7.5 hours to complete, 6 of them being me screaming out that it's just not possible.

Very nice visuals, good pacing and overall cozy and lonely atmospehre makes this a very enjoyable a few hours. It's a good condenced experience unlike how many indie games similar to this in tone tend to be very slow paced and drawn out.

And the graphic of the game try to confuse you. (Example with the tube of the fridge who is drawed like if it was broken. So you think than it is broken. So, when you are looking for a tube, you don't try this one and you try to find another one to solve your issue)
I'm ok to play of the game is fair with me and LOGIC. And the manual is pretty annoying because you need to close it everytime you want to try something. You can't have the manual open when you test something.
Anyway, really annoying experience on this game. Lack of explanation and guidance. Lot of item who have not purpose other than to confuse you. It's not enough to save this game. Everytime i play, i just want to quit because i know than i will pass a bad moment. It's sad because the story seem nice.

Overall a good experience. The puzzles are very hard and the idea of a manual is really fun and familiar as someone who has messed with old tech and set up many devices off of outdated and sometimes foreign manuals. There was a part or two where I needed to look up a guide, but that ended up only being helpful to prove that I was on the right track and probably would have gotten it in time. The rest of the puzzles were very satisfying to complete and pretty well done. They fit well into the weird space station vibe they created. The writing, art, and music came together so well. The story was great and very clear with what was going on. It was a bit of an emotional journey, but one that I think most adults can sympathize with enough to be driven by the story. Unlike most indie games, it had a real resolution too. Every question had been answered and every page of the manual had been used. Quite satisfying.
I saw this game is available on the switch as well and would work really well with a touch screen.

While the puzzles can be challenging, I think that the game does a reasonable job of offering you enough guidance to figure your way through them. I very frequently consult guides for other puzzle games at the slightest inconvenience. With Still There, I only had to look twice.
Be patient with yourself as you work your way through this game. It's emotionally rich and mentally stimulating; don't rush your way through it for the sake of completionism. You deserve to experience this game at your own pace.

The dialogue selection doesn't effect the overall narrative of the game.
The puzzles were okay, but in some cases were obscure, even with the manual that you're expected to decipher. No one would make a space station which would interact like this in real life so it's hard to suspend my belief when playing.
I don't think the game excels in any particular area. I can't recommend it to anyone.

It's good if you have some technical aptitude, but not necessary as it has a manual book to refer to when solving a system. There is part where you need to fix a leak which is really a demanding puzzle to solve.
Point and click fans that love challenging puzzles should try this game.

Pros:
- great artwork
- nice soundtrack
- touching story
- fitting puzzles
- atmospheric
Cons:
- ton of lame jokes
- full price a little bit to high
Conclusion
I got this game through the monthly Humble Bundle subscription and even though I was sceptical at first (not the greatest fan of point & click adventures), I'm really glad now that I got it. The artwork & animation with it's details is just something else and among the best I've ever seen in this genre, especially for a small developer. The soundtrack was also really nice and fitting for the sci-fi theme. Puzzles also all made sense regarding the type plus occurence and had a nice difficulty.
Story and setting might not be for everyone but I personally rather enjoy the more heart touching subjects/themes and thought, that the dialogues & general pace/storytelling of the game were pretty decent. The only real downside for me in the whole package was the corny/generic humor, which really fell flat compared to the rest of the game...I rolled my eyes more than once because of a bad joke, I can tell you that. Sometimes they even destroyed the atmosphere a little bit for me but other than that, no critic from my side.
All in all I totally enjoyed the game and consider it maybe even somewhat of a little, hidden diamond in my personal history/collection of point & click adventures, who I will remain fond of for the near future. So yeah, a sure recommendation to get the game during sales.

Apart from your daily routine there's a story which drives you through the various puzzles and gives you a reason to keep pressing buttons. It's OK as stories go I s'pose but it's a bit maudlin, I mean you might like it, but it didn't really 'do it' for me. It's one of those that tries to 'subvert your expectations' but just ends up being like Firewatch in space with a main character who's a bit of a flimsy flip-flop. It's an interesting story I guess, with the obligatory twist, but it tends to take over from the puzzles in the end and the characters all felt like they fell out of the same annoying mould: Bordering on gullible, and exhibiting a kind of 'I'm not crying you're crying' emotional fragility for some reason (obviously written by someone who likes that type of fan fiction).
The puzzles are great though, give me more of those, in fact just forget about doing a story and make a really long game all about fiddling with control panels next time please.
TL;DR Good puzzle fun for a few hours, get when on sale, 3.5/5 slices of pie.

this is a good play if you love adventure games, existentialism, or just want some emotional catharsis. the themes of introspection and isolation run deep; it's hard to tell whether you're getting lost within deep space or yourself.
it's a short game and considering that- the immediate story feels pretty backloaded. it feels like it could have done more with its abstract elements, but the unused potential doesn't affect the enjoyment of what is there.

The game itself is fairly short - the sort of thing you could complete in an afternoon. The puzzles are challenging, and I understand some of the complaints re: the in-game diagrams and manual not always making it clear what needed to be done. I managed to solve each puzzle, but I'm also the sort of person who likes to experiment with everything in my environment, so that helped. There's an option in the game to receive easier puzzles, but they're not eligible for achievements.
As I said, the story's not terribly original, borrowing some elements from sci-fi films. But it's still poignant, emotionally charged, and well worth experiencing. Playing it on a rainy afternoon, having self-isolated for months due to COVID-19, made for the perfect mood.
Also, Gorky is best AI and earns bonus points for his use of the 8==D emoji.

My problem was the puzzles. Put, simply, the diagrams they give you are not enough to figure out what you're supposed to do. It feels like being told to fix something in real life, being handed a technical manual which contains all the information you need, and then expected to figure out how to do it despite the fact that you're a completely untrained civilian, and sometimes the puzzle doesn't even match the hints. For example, there's a puzzle where you have to find a password and the hint will tell you that the computer will show you a pair of dice, the first of which will tell you how many numbers in the sequence are correct and the second will tell you how far the number with the largest difference is from its correct location. However, when you get to the actual puzzle, there is only one die on the screen and you have no idea what it means and the computer, which is your hint system, will only tell you how to do the puzzle and he won't help you with it at all. That's just awful and the whole game was filled with stuff like that.
The worst was the O2 puzzle because I understood how the puzzle was supposed to work and yet still couldn't find the solution. The only combination of valves that made any sense wasn't stable enough for the puzzle to complete. I spent, like, half an hour trying to figure it out, and eventually I just got fed up and made the puzzle autocomplete. That's really where I draw the line with all the puzzles. They're not truly difficult in a satisfying way, and instead it just feels like the game is never giving you enough information on how to solve the puzzle. As a result, the puzzles feel more like they're just getting in the way of the story rather than supporting it, and that this would work better as a short film rather than a video game.
It's really disappointing as I'm a big fan of the more realistic approach to space games. I'll take a panel full of finicky buttons and switches over a Mass Effect galaxy map any day of the week. However, this one really dropped the ball when it came to the puzzles to the point where it actively hurt my enjoyment of the game, so I can't recommend this in good faith.

it offers you an easy version of the puzzles, but the normal version is difficult. it's difficult because it's hard to figure out what to do but when you do, and you will because this game makes a lot more sense than it initially seems, you'll love it. the gameplay is lots of fun and it really made me feel like an astronaut.
the story is vague, but it's entertaining with relatable characters i really liked. it's a maybe generic story but offered dialogue that made me feel things, and think deeper thoughts for a moment or two, and combined lovely music with sometimes blinding combinations of colours... basically it was a good time and that about sums it up :)

Also, don't let the screenshots decieve you, there are no real-technical puzzles in here, no programming, just some logic puzzles and a lot of dialogue.
It also is fairly short. There is no New Game + or something like that and the game won't let you skip anything, even on your second playthrough.

Gameplay was decent. Some puzzles were too complicated yet doable.
I lot of cryptic scenes that didn't made sense. Main story was good.
Wouldve love it if some of the answers to the unchosen questions were explained...
Nonetheless, you'll fall in love with the characters. even the unloveable ones.
Made me want to get a pet lizard.

The unique feature of this puzzle-adventure style game is that it takes places inside a single location: a sort of capsule in space. There's plenty of personality to this space, and I never felt bored or limited by it in my time with the game.
I'll avoid story spoilers, but I will say that you are joined by a well-written AI companion, and in its own way, the game makes some very moving connections between the characters. The ending is exceptional--it led there down some unexpected paths and really went for it. I was reminded of the movies Moon and Interstellar when I watched it.
For the most part, interacting with items felt natural and usually worked to build a sense of connection to the world, even for mundane things. This puzzles are where things get dicey. This puzzle philosophy is that the real challenge is to have the player figure out the rules for the puzzle. The actual solving of the puzzle is usually faster than simply figuring out what you're even supposed to do. Usually, this work out, but they get worse as the game goes on.
The last three, and especially the last one, stretch beyond the point of believability the idea that you're actually fixing a system with a logical purpose. Sometimes, the deliberate ambiguity of the puzzles leave open the possibility of multiple interpretations that could both be correct.
Worse, these moments take place in a time of serious danger, and it ironically saps tension from the scene as you're futzing over poorly documented diagrams while alarms are blaring. Your AI partner--normally so helpful--does nothing. These moments clash with the story focus of the game.
As a sign of this, the game offers the chance to skip or get an easy version of the puzzles. It's awkwardly implemented--no attempt to dress it up, just an awkward easy button. I used it twice.
OK, so I didn't love all the puzzles, but I still enjoyed my time with Still There. As I said earlier, I especially loved the ending, and it left a very positive impression on me. I think you should give this one a shot.

The environment is not large but is packed full of objects to use and examine. There are no voice overs (which I consider as a plus) but good sound effects and some very nice piano music. The entire game is very logical, with shortcuts available to simpler versions of the more complex puzzles. Hints are accessed by questioning the AI. The game has frequent auto saves which meant I did not ever lose progress upon exiting. Controls are easy and you can jump between 'rooms' with a single click, or scroll sideways.
I would recommend this to adventurers who thrive on logical puzzle solving and enjoy technology mixed with an emotional story. My only regret is that I could not save the lizard!

I downloaded the demo, tried it, feel in love with the wacky AI assistant and had to buy it.
The puzzles are challenging and quite tricky at times, but the story is unforgettable.
PS. Expect lots of dick jokes. (was a bit of a let down with this part)

My eyes still raw and humid from crying.
Fantastic graphics, puzzles that require your brain to get six different overclocking modules, and a story that is...
Well, you'll just have to experience it yourself.
I completed the game in a day, and I highly suggest you get the bundle.

Game play wise, I generally enjoyed the puzzles, but there was WAY too much of an eye-spy type element to many of them. Too much needed to be discovered without any prompting or direction. I didn't like how much of it was reliant on me turning over EVERY nook and cranny of the world to find certain elements, with ZERO direction. When playing puzzle games, I really don't like to seek out a guide, but I had to on a few occasions because the game didn't do a good job of teaching me what I could or couldn't do. What's unfortunate is that when consulting the guide, I wasn't dissapointed. Usually, when I consult a guide because I'm stuck, I face palm for how stupid I was because I didn't come up with the solution on my own, but this game left me wondering how I was supposed to come up with the solution with the little information provided.
All in all, if you like narrative driven puzzles, then check it out. But this is more of a narrative with puzzle elements. It's really like Firewatch in space, but if Firewatch was more puzzly and it's emotional appeal and story telling was drastically weaker. I really think if you're going to tell a story like this, it has to be voice acted to make us really understand and feel how the characters feel, at the least...especially if the dialogue is poorly written.
Good effort, and I'm glad this game exists, it's better than most narrative driven games, but it really needed some extra outside eyes to reign it in and make it truly polished.

It's kind of like a point and click adventure, but more along the lines of how J.U.L.I.A. did it than say Monkey Island. It's all done from the first person perspective and most of the puzzles involve trying to figure out how to work a very advanced terminal which controls a little space station upon which you reside.
Also, the game has a very emotional storyline. I don't know if it just hit me particularly hard, but I actually found myself tearing up towards the end.
Also, there's this joystick attached to the in game terminal... I seriously love just wagging it back and forth! I don't know why but that little detail really made me smile!
Well worth the money.

Meanwhile, the game tries to string along a tragic narrative about isolation, regret, and doing the right thing. The pace of the game is absurd. Despite taking place over several days the time we play each day can be incredibly short, and characters change their personalities and relationships so fast you often feel like you missed out on a few transitional scenes. The overall plot of the story is interesting, and does successfully evoke a feeling of sadness by the end but more due to the scenario than any sense of bond with the characters. Unfortunately, the game's main way to get you interested in Karl and his past is heavy-handed dream sequences, which are so terribly written I almost quit the game during the intro. Dreams are supposed to increase mystique, not just dance around an obvious event the game is trying to keep hidden while spouting sad-sounding nonsequiters.
At the very least, the game looks nice, with the exception of a particular character near the end which was so uncanny it broke the tender mood of the scene. The space station interior is fun to browse and find little easter eggs.

I can't really point out anything that I didn't enjoy in this game.
I was expecting a puzzle-like, not very memorable little indie game and what I got was the complete opposite, to my huge and pleasant surprise.
☻ The puzzles are very realistic, (which makes some of them a tough nut to crack) if you're an engineer you will definitely enjoy this;
☻ The story is beyond compelling - you'll go through a rollercoaster of emotions that will have you deal with feelings such as loss, frustration, compassion and sadness;
☻ The ambient is spot on;
☻ The friendly and querky AI will make you smile most of the times;
☻ Good ending.
The game takes around 5~7H to finish, but it doesn't feel short at all, it's just the right lenght for such an immersive adventure.
I'll definitely remember this one. Buy it if you can, it's worth it ☺

If you are holding off yourself because of complicated looking puzzles, you can simply switch to easy mode or cheat, just to enjoy the story. I really enjoyed every bit of it.

Another negative aspect was that there are too many unresolved things left open. What was the point of the food that was in the kitched but one could not prepare and eat it? Is there no way to help the reptil? Why the money and the shop system if the items are never delivered? The list goes on.
In summary: nice idea, but poorly executed, and the language was unbearable.
