Das sind die negativen Punkte. Sonst ist das Spiel interessant und gut gemacht:
- Coole Grafik
- Charaktere
- Sound
- Charaktere können verbessert werden
- Geheimnisse zum suchen
- Gegner
- während eines Levels kann man zwischen Charakteren switchen
- Boss Gegner
Das Spiel kriegt von mir einen (etwas schwachen) Daumen nach oben. Mir fehlt die Geduld mich mit dem Schwierigkeitsgrad auseinander zu setzen. Für Leute die es gerne etwas kniffliger mögen sind hier richtig. Sofern man die Steuerung für sich einigermaßen gut eingestellt hat. Denn das ist Voraussetzung.

ist eine innovative Art Metro-Trials-Destruction-Mix mit einigen interessanten und mir bisher unbekannten Mechaniken. So kann man etwa Gegenstände, die einem den Weg versperren, durch eine Spezialfähigkeit durchtrennen (oder sie alternativ einfach überspringen). Allerdings ist das Spiel zu meiner Überraschung vor allem als Einsteiger relativ schwer. Daher seit gewarnt!

Dummerweise hat das Spiel ein viel zu hohen Schwierigkeitsgrad was bei mangelnder Steuerung einfach nur frustrierend ist.
Gerade einmal 10% haben es so weit wie ich nach 50 Minuten geschafft!!!

Den Spielspaß trübt jedoch eine Konstellation aus äußerst gewöhnungsbedürftiger Steuerung, die zu häufigem Hängenbleiben und Respawns führt, und richtig schlecht gesetzten Respawnpunkten, wegen derer man gerne mal direkt nach dem Respawn erneut stirbt.
An für sich finde ich das Spiel irgendwo ganz charmant. Aufgrund der genannten Problematik finde ich es jedoch zu frustrierend als dass ich mich in die Steuerung einarbeiten möchte.

Ziemlich ungewöhnliche Spielidee. Lohnt sich mal reinzuschaun.
Die Musik ist echt geil, Ist das Björk? :D
Erinnert mich ansonsten an Spiele wie Limbo

I'm getting the impression they ran out of money at some point after all the art assets had been finalized, there's a jarring discrepancy between visually stunning environments and gameplay that made me ask 'did you even test this, like at all?'.

The controls make it over-complicated and hard to remember so i die all the time for pressing the wrong key
some of the mechanics you need to use dont even work right. I cant finish the last level in one of the districts because the magnetized track or whatever the fuq is blocked right at the end
It just makes me frustrated

I don't feel as if it offers enough content , I didn't play for long and still hit many bad bugs which meant restarting levels to fix. Just feels like a fun idea, badly executed.

The controls are incredibly not intuitive where you control a motorcycle on a 2D plane, you have all these button combinations to control different aspects of the vehicle however people will not be willing to memorize them because they are still too busy grappling with how flaky the lane-switching and physics are.
I tried skipping everything including, bonuses, upgrades, skins, collectibles and you can indeed get through a portion of the game like that but the sheer frustration in controlling the motorcycle eventually caused me to give up on this game.

Overview:
more-less Graphics looks decent and nice, but the game-play and control is somehow advanced and isn`t conformable on a Keyboard!
certainly it was designed for a Game Controller ! and probable it`s for a console ;) multi-button play
other than that, there are different tricky obstacles and road challenges to pass over - not bad

I tried to like this game, I really did, however the poor controls, and frustrating level design left me leaving for good, after multiple instances of me forcing myself to keep going. This game is unplayable without a controller, don't even try to, it will not go well for you, however even with a controller, the controls just are not good. The game asks you to perform some precise platforming and pair that with poor controls and a motorcycle going at fast speeds that carries its momentum and it's a recipe for disaster. It left me so frustrated I couldn't keep going. The story is boring and bland and doesn't hook you at all. I gave this game multiple chances, I wanted to like this game but I just couldn't get past the poor controls and level design.

One big problem was that my GPU was running at 89°C with fans going full blast. There's no reason that a game this simple should be doing that to an RX 580. There were also a lot of bugs that would happen. There were two spots that were extremely bad. One was a part where you had to flee upwards from an enemy doing a lot of jumps, turns, and pipe grinds. Sometimes when I would attempt a u-turn, the character would just keep spinning around until I button mashed. The pipe grinds on that part would also sometimes not give you the speed that it's supposed to, causing you to die. Another bad part was the final boss. There were maneuvers that would insta-kill the character around 20% of the time. Like, you would clip through things, and it could send you flying.
It really had a lot of potential. I think that if the bugs were ironed out, and there were strictly 2 lanes instead of having some weird wiggle room, it would be much clearer as to where you were exactly. I also thing that the fall damage really limited the way that you could traverse levels. There were a lot of times where I thought that I could jump down somewhere, and right above the ground the game had decided that I had fallen too far, and just killed me. The story was decent, the art style was fine, and the menu music set the mood. Once again, really cool idea, like Trial HD, but with combat; but unless the bugs are fixed, I can't recommend it.

TONS of bugs, not working skills (not fixed for years ultimate like I've read on forum, stometimes it works but most of the time not).
Controls... oh my... don't touch this without controller and even with it get ready to getting used to them for a long time. Even after 1-2 hours still is hard to comprahend all of them - who need acceleration in left/right platformer...
If you are stubborn (like me) and you got this game for FREE (they gave it on april '21 last time) you can try playing it. Story is pretty straight forward, characters are blatant. Only good thing is graphic/audio/music - it's pretty ok and not that bad.
If you are achievement hunter get ready for some really hard ones and the final boss... let the RNG be on your side.
Overall Steel Rats had potential to be pretty good platformer but all bugs, not working skills, hard challenges (mostly hard cause you can't use your ultimate or you have to be really precise) makes that I cannot recommend this game.
Final verdict 3/10. Some point for good graphics and music.

Overall the visuals and audio are good, but that's about all I enjoyed. There's a lot of elements that should work together but did not hit the mark for me, mainly because the main riding mechanic was hard to get used to when it's so slippery.
Obviously the draw of this game is feeling cool riding on your big destructo-cycle, but I was never able to actually achieve this feeling. For the same price, My Friend Pedro is a very similar game but those controls are a lot more fun because even though there are many more mechanics you actually have control of your character.
For Steel Rats whenever you try to change lanes you can't really tell if you're in the lane or not, so if you don't hold up long enough you get pulled back into your original lane, and if you hold it too long you'll be scraping the top of the lane.
My biggest issue was U turns, where sometimes it will spin you around in place and others it will wait for you to accelerate, I could just never get it to do what I wanted smoothly.
Unless you master all the controls your progress will always be hindered every 3 seconds with an obstacle that trips you up and ruins the feeling of being a juggernaut biker. This was most frustrating during [spoiler] the drill section where you had to just dance your way down a long stretch of scaffolding constantly doing u turns as quickly as possible to outrun the drill above you. I felt like I would have done better on a Vespa rather than frustratingly trying to maneuver my slippery hog 3 feet at a time before doing a u turn down 20 flights of scaffolding. [/spoiler]
Then you have to climb all the way back up, but my nemesis of the game was most prominent here: hitting your head. On flat ground if I mess up and tip over OK that's on me, I deserve to be reset and have the whole flow of play broken in yet another way, but in this segment there's a lot of aerial sections and jumps and rotations into them, and even if you do it pretty good but hit a bump or the game doesn't grip you to the right section or miss the rotation you hit your head and lose health and have to do it over, that's just not what I want out of this game.
On top of that I can't imagine going BACK to REPLAY this frustration for the unlockables and challenges, which are usually my main focus in any genre I play. Unlocks, upgrades, achievements, that's really why I was excited about this but the upgrade system isn't that helpful either, since it's only minor improvements to a single character at a time.
This whole game would be better for me if the bike was more like TRON instead of a fat kid on a slip and slide. I also would have had a better time if they wore helmets and didn't immediately die when the bike flips, no one wants that, they want to do flips and feel cool instead of only having to use the aerial tilt to land jumps. I guess I just expected an action game instead of such a sloppy platformer.
Just go play My Friend Pedro unless you're really into the setting of this game.

First when you attack a boss with a charge 2/3 time you suicide yourself even if it's the easiest way to combat it. Next when you crash during the first boss and he's shooting lava, it automatically kill your character during the loading screen, nothing you can do about that. You litterally need to camp the gun spawn if you want to get past him. It's quite unfortunate because the game had potential, but it was ruined by all the bugs and the fact that it feels unrewarding to go through level with speed. By the way there's 2 lane in the game and you never know where you are

A one of a kind game! Great style, good story and voice acting, fun and challenging platforming and combat. Enough variety with characters (could use some more boss designs).
Your motorcycle is ridiculously agile and can do 0-radius 180 degree turns, jump, air dash. It's also your main weapon in defeating the robot hordes and bosses.
Recommended for anyone who wants a twist on the motorcycle formula.

The original idea with motorcycles was good, but major flaws in gameplay precision makes it too frustrating.
Could have been a great game, with maybe more checkpoints on bosses to compensate poor physics/gameplay mistakes which would have make it more bearable until the end.

Play a level almost to the end but don't quite make it? You're rewarded with the privilege of doing the entire thing over from the start.
Nope.
Fix this with proper checkpoints and you've got a really fun game.
As it, it's fun until it's frustrating, Then it's off to another game.

The problem is level design and combat. Trying new things usually comes with a risk. The awesomeness of the movement gameplay is held back by repetition and boring combat. Some parts are hard and the old school design of rinse and repeat is all over Steel Rats. Try the jump, fail, try the jump again, fail, try the jump again, fail, out of lives, back to the start of the level. Some people like that, but I don't. I feel like this philosophy had its time in the arcade, meant to eat quarters.
The combat is not a total loss though. My guess is that this is the trickiest gameplay element to implement when trying a new movement mechanic. Most of the time it works nicely. They have these bots that you defeat by driving fast through them, which is nice. Then there are these other bots that stand still and you have to also stand still near it and deflect projectiles by double tapping a button. That does not fit well. My feeling is that anything that deviates from the core movement philosophy is not good. So attack and defense should be attached to speed or maneuvers, not dedicated buttons like a normal platformer. I would definitely remove all the standing enemies. Maybe add sections with infinite road and implement more complex boss patterns there . So you are always driving forward and so is the enemy, in a mix of race and combat. Anyway, I'm just rambling now. Point is, combat is mostly boring and breaks the fun flow of the movement.
Other than that all I have are small comments. The upgrade and the selection of characters seem to add very little to the game at the cost of feeling like filler content. I find no noticeable difference between the bikers and I didn't play enough to find a use to most of those abilities, which were all too similar. Again, feels like filler. Feels like one character and maybe 3 upgradeable skills would be enough.
I was going to not recommend the game but I changed my mind. This is something new that I'm happy I got to play a little bit. Things that are different are good and I would like to see more of. Maybe get it on a sale though.

I like the game, it's a very cool idea. But, unfortunately due to the odd choice of controls and NO WAY to customize them I cannot give this game a thumbs up for the time being. Like others have said the controls are bad. The developer really didn't think about what kind of game this is. It seems like they wanted it to be a Trials game but it's very much not that.
It should have been like a twin stick shooter. The bike should move with the Left analog stick alone, but the right trigger accelerates and the B button turns you in a 180. The right stick should aim weapons and the right trigger should shoot them.
If they ever fix up the controls I will change my review.

Up and down keys are go and stop while W and S are to change lanes, ctrl key to switch direction and shift to put your front razor wheel thingy on and double shift to jump forward as well as e key to shoot and right shift to shoot and holding c changes character and er yeah... no don't think of the keys just go do the level really quickly and get frustrated.
The only key I needed in the end was the right mouse button->uninstall
