The Good
- Spore has a near-infinite possibility in the last stage of the game to colonize the galaxy.
- From the beginning, Spore is well refined and feels complete. Each stage has its own fun side that everyone will enjoy.
- Huge creative potential exists within this game, allowing you to create and modify almost any creature, building, planet or vehicle of your dreams.
- It is fun to dominate your opponents in Spore, almost addictively so. This is on the verge of becoming a classic.
- You can play Spore as your personality wishes. Aggressive? No problem. Peaceful? Also fair game. In-between? Totally viable.
- Spore is a unique game in the lineup of video games, being a shooter, space simulator, strategy, god, life simulation, and everything else combined into one whole experience. It's hard to see how people will not get at least some form of enjoyment out of this game.
The Okay
- Losing control of your creature by advancing makes me miss playing as the creature earlier. Luckily, I can start again from an earlier stage or go into Spore's test drive mode, which partially solves the issue.
- Spore is not very scientifically accurate, but perhaps it is an intentional decision to make Spore more fun and less cumbersome.
- A 5-games-in-one experience gives Spore a high replay value, but this compromises the unity of the stages into a single experience.
- This game is very old (2008) and unmaintained. Some features may be broken, such as online registration, combined with compatibility issues when playing on newer OSes. On the other hand, performance of this game should be a breeze on newer computers for today.
- I wish I could create planets in the game and place them into space. Maybe they don't have the technology? Who knows anyway. At least I can modify planets to my liking.
The Bad
- Spore crashes occasionally. Luckily this happens at about once every 12 to 24 hours of continuous gameplay.
- Invasions, demands and attacks from other empires seem to happen repeatedly and all together at once in the last stage in the game, breaking immersion. At least this provides a challenge to the player so that they don't have to be bored with creating.
Verdict
Spore is an underrated classic. If you enjoy being creative, it's worth its price by far. Not just in creating epic monsters, cute little animals, or just plain objects, but also in creating strategies for your success in this game.

You can't sign into your EA account for multiple reasons, and therefore you can't download other people's creations, or share your creations, or see them randomly appear in your game. You see this review say 3 hours gameplay, well that's 3 hours of trying to connect to the servers, trying to sign into ea, and another hour besides that talking to EA reps who as of yet haven't been able to help me.
Therefore, you're buying half a game.
I've heard there's ways to connect to the servers and fix all the problems and get it up and working, but those ways require talking to EA and getting them to help you out, which is what I did and I'm yet to have been helped on this issue.
I first bought Spore in 2008 and played it for a few years, and recently I bought it again.
(I stopped playing it when Origin was released and messed up all my EA games.)
So no I couldn't recommend this to a friend, because for me Spore is at least half about the community you're sharing with (probably more) and only half is about the gameplay and base game. I don't doubt that eventually I'll get these issues ironed out with an EA rep helping me out as I've read online, but I've been trying to do this for 2 days now and it's becoming too much of a headache to be worth it.

The stages are;
Cell stage: you are a cell and you must eat depending on your diet
Creature stage: you are an animal and you must survive depending on your diet and decide if you want kill or friend the other species(P.s. if you don't kill or friend the other creatures you cannot advance to the next stage)
Tribal stage: you must manage your tribe and friend or destroy the other tribes(P.s. the stage is a lot similar to a lot of RTS games)
Civilization stage: is like tribal stage, the only difference is that you manage more than 1 city and you manage a lot of unit like tanks, planes and ships, depending on your civilization type(military, religious or commercial) you have a different approach to the stage
Space stage: you are a spaceship and you must make missions for your empire or other empires(P.s. the approach to this stage is like No Man's Sky)
The parts you have for invent your creatures are a lot and you can usa a lot your imagination.
The only defect is that the base game crashes sometimes and isn't moddable(for simple the Galactic Adventures expansion doesn't crash and is moddable).
Final vote: 9/10.
Recommended age to play it: all ages.

TL;DR A lazy port of a PC game to (checks notes) PC...(weird, didn't know you could F that up). It's like EA wants to punish you for buying it on Steam instead of signing up for their subscription service or buying it on Origin.
Also, I still haven't been able to access the online features of the game since this game does not appear to come with a CD Key. Many of the links for registering your game (which you need to do in order to gain access to other players' creations) lead you to websites with broken links. Want to reset the password to your Spore account? You can't. The link to do that is busted.

Point B: The ability to view your Spore key in Steam has been removed after EA found out about a major exploit.
Typical of EA to take my money for a broken game that literally states in-game that I won't have access to MANY features of Spore without being online.
If you still want to play Spore, buy it through Origin.

The Cell and Creature stages are everyone's favourites, for good reason. Who wouldn't like playing a single creature making evolutionary strides towards progress? Although the Tribal, Civilisation, and especially Space stages are not nearly as loved my most people, I still found plenty of enjoyment out of all of them. Personally, Space is my second favourite stage after Creature, and I know that's probably a hot take. The point is you may find yourself sinking plenty of hours into this game, even if you don't find particular stages as enjoyable.
In my later years of Spore, I found plenty of enjoyment out of the online community. Very quickly I found others who loved making dinosaurs, dragons, and aliens and we had a grand old time communicating with each other, exchanging ideas, holding contests etc. It really did breathe a whole new life into the game for me. However, with the capabilities of modern games, I can see how primitive Spore seems nowadays.
If you've got an interest in evolution and creation (as in, creating things, not creationism just FYI), you will definitely get a kick out of this game.

you get a simple 2d top down arcade for the first level, then open world exploration that has that old macintosh 3D feel for next level.
then you evolve and grow abilities.
then you colonize lands,
then you colonize planets
then you create dna.
this game is def a must. nothing serious very casual and easy to soak a few hours into

Information / Review English
SPORE ™ is a Simulation game developed by Maxis ™.
Gameplay / Story
The next evolutionary leap in gaming history is imminent. Will Wright, creator of The Sims, presents you SPORE - experience an epic journey that takes you from the origin of life through the development of civilization and technology to the infinite expanses of space.
Spore offers you your own universe. In this universe you can create and develop life, found tribes, build civilizations and even form entire worlds. Thanks to a variety of creation tools, you can customize almost every detail of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings and even spaceships. Although Spore is a single player experience, your creations, like those of other players, are automatically shared for your and their gala-xies, allowing an infinite number of worlds to be explored and played.
Spore consists of five phases. Each phase contains different challenges and goals. You can start in the cellular phase and direct the evolution of a species from its humble origins in the ocean to a sentient species. Or you may choose to build tribes or civilizations on multiple planets. How the universe develops and shapes is entirely up to you.
Pro
+ great game idea
+ You can master the game without fighting
+ incredible biodiversity
+ great universe
+ awesome building, vehicle & creature editor
+ Paradise for item hunters & trophy collectors
+ Trading cards
Contra
- tactically irrelevant combat system

It all starts in the cell stage, a top-down arcade style section. This is the beginning of the impact your creature has on the galaxy. A simple stage, in 2D with 3D graphics, and, in my eyes, acts as more of a prologue to the rest of the game. All decisions you make in this and subsequent stages affect abilities you unlock in future stages.
Then, we move toward the creature stage. This stage moves the game to an RPG. It moves the environment into 3D, and gets your creature to its final evolutionary form. This is where it gets more complex. I would recommend spending a decent amount of time in this stage to gather as many parts as possible, because once you enter the next stage, you cannot change how your species looks.
After the creature stage, comes the tribal stage. This one functions more like a real-time strategy section. You are either pitted against or made to befriend other species who have arisen into tribes. I personally struggled with this stage, until I figured out how to equip the tools I had bought. That felt embarrassing. You can also customise your tribesmen in this stage, but only their outfits.
Next, we move to the Civilisation stage. This stage just moves down to strategy. Rather than more vicious, mixed, or social routes, you are given the choice of focusing on military, economy, or religion. You are now introduced to the currency you will use for the rest of the game. After taking over all the cities, your species now can travel to space.
Finally, the space stage. Some would argue this is where the game truly begins. All paths you took designate you a philosophy, and abilities to go along with it. You can now explore the whole galaxy, and find out about the galactic core and the grox. Your savegames can interact to some extent in this stage, and they can form alliances. Other species also grow into space, and you can ally, attack, and trade with them. This is the endgame stage. The finale to the journey of spore. Complete missions for your empire and others, and find out the secrets in the galactic core, guarded by the grox...
To conclude, it is an amazing game. Definitely worth buying.

Мне никогда не станет скучно в Spore,не смотря на то,что я проходил её сотни раз,на разных сложностях,разными способами,я продолжу это делать.

It was my first pc game, and after eight years, I finally bought it on Steam. I am still ready to go through it dozens of times, creating new worlds and civilizations. This game is extremely interesting. It's one of those games that always captured my childhood attention. I never got to play Spore when it was released; I played it more than a decade later.
Cell stage: You start out the game as a cell; eating things to grow to bigger sizes. This is really just an intro piece of gameplay.
Creature stage: I played in this stage way more than I should have. I wanted to create the ULTIMATE MASTER CREATURE TO BEFRIEND OR DESTROY THEM ALL. I do believe this strategy helped me out in the long run. This area of the game has minimal gameplay. More than the cell stage, but there is a lot to be desired here. I really enjoy the creatures and world of this game however.
Tribal stage: This is another transition stage. It does some cool stuff and has some interesting mechanics. I don't believe a lot that you do here has an MAJOR effects on the future, unless you get killed. My first play ever, in creature stage, I was a carnivore and killed everyone. Several tribes aligned against me when I reached this stage and they destroyed me. That was cool, but I chose to start over to be friendlier.
Civilization stage: This is a lot like tribal stage but you get some vroom vroom bois and some water speedsters and some whooooooosh crafts.
Galactic stage: Alright, FINALLY, you have made it to space. This is where the real meat of the game lies. I enjoyed this portion of the game the most. It adds like 10 times the amount of gameplay options and stuff to do. The scale and things you can do in this game is pretty mind blowing for an older game like this. This is the No Man's Sky of the past. The things that killed the game for me is I play on a 4k TV. The UI is just too small. I could play on a lower resolution, or a smaller monitor, but I'll just move to No Man's Sky instead of spending 100's of hours in this game.
TO CONCLUDE: Spend time getting the most resources in creature stage to have a powerful creature. Space stage is the best, has lots to offer, has really cool mechanics I don't know many games having, and is very impressive for the age of this game. There is some UI and interface issues playing on modern equipment.

Overall, the game is extremely unique and underrated, and there is nothing else like it on the market. In a world of duplicate titles, remakes, and 1001 shooters, this game stands out. Thus, I must recommend it to you. It's still worth a play years after its release!

I've become pretty spoiled by autosaving games, and this gets me in trouble because despite surpassing spec requirements on a brand new PC, this game seems to crash about an hour or three into gameplay. I've spent soooo much time on a creature from cell to tribal, only to lose it all.
Despite the crashing, I keep coming back to play this. Sometimes I just play the cell stage when I want a quick, relaxing game.

This game is honestly just really great, and lots of fun. The game essentially boils down to a creature creator and decently fun gameplay for the different evolution stages. You could play through all of a creature's steps between a cell and a space-god, or you can just goof off and make funny things in the creator. For what it's worth, the creator is a bit finicky but it works well. As for the gameplay, it varies entirely for each stage. This ends up making most of the stages generally not too deep (excluding the final stage), but it's fine for what it is. There's also a progression system where, depending on your choices for each stage, you get different abilities, and when you get to the space stage you receive an archetype which gives you a specific ability. I considered writing more to describe each stage, but I feel like you could also just look at a gameplay video for each.

If you enjoy making things and getting to play around with them, it's a fun experience. The final stage is a total sandbox and just lets you play around with multiple aspects of the game.
