Über das Spiel
SpaceBourne’s universe has over 100 Solar Systems, over 400 planets and 37 landable Space Stations.
SpaceBourne is designed with total player-freedom in mind. In Spacebourne, the player can mine asteroids, salvage wrecked and derelict ships, hunt bounties, engage in piracy, and explore and discover previously uncharted solar systems and space anomalies like black holes. Besides following the main storyline, the player may also engage in trade, take side missions, help or hinder the various warring races, or even form a force of their own. In all of these activities the player has the freedom to make choices.
However, to accomplish any of this, one needs a good ship. You can acquire new ships, modify current ones, and create new and different weapons. As of Eearly Access 1.5.1 the game has 322 different weapons with different characteristics, and that number keeps growing with each update.
It’s not just the shps that can grow and upgrade. The player-character progresses through leveling, gaining new traits and improving existing ones. Passive traits, such as Piloting, Trade, Charisma, etc… get better, or not, according to your playstyle. Active traits on the other hand, are left to you to choose and pick up as your character levels up.
With the exception of the main storyline, SpaceBourne’s content is randomly generated at new-game initialization. This means that every new game can feature new events and locations. This design choice is intended to make every new playthrough unique and ensure that no matter how many times you have played, there are always new things to discover.
SpaceBourne includes 4 distinct races with different ships, and different specialties. There are more than 3.000 entities with which to interact.

+ Basisspiel obwohl in Early Access sehr gut spielbar
+ Grosse Map

Except for combat, gameplay is quite slow.
Combat is a bit repetitive. Mark target, follow target, fire turrets/lasers/missiles. So far, all weapon types are very similar.
Mining/salvaging is tedious
Trouble finding new missions or next mission in series.
I don't think there was any need to make planets and landing. Everything would have been easier from a more standardized planet/station window

It feels like Freelancer mixed with Elite games and a little touch of Eve, and ... strangely reminds me of Homeworld 2 even if it seems to have nothing to do with it ! A dream come true ? Has this game really been created by one person ? Is this one person even human ? Do cookies have the same taste in space ? Do hedgehogs like cookies in space ? Stay tuned for more :D

Want to dock a ship? Can't use manual, have to be in auto mode and click dock (then watch the docking video, again).
Want to mine an asteroid? Can't use manual, have to be in auto mode and click mine (then wait 5-10s before it starts mining).
Want to fly to a point of interest? Can't use manual, have to be in auto mode and click warp.
Combats fine, and is the only place you can actually fly, and the flying is decent. It's not Elite Dangerous, but i don't expect it to be.
However, i do play space games to fly, and that doesn't really happen enough in this game.

I get it, space sims just beg for a joystick, but for a lot of people, that's a logistical difficulty at best.
I hope the dev takes my measly $7 that I shelled out for this and at least fixes the mouse control to something remotely functional.
I did set it to the free arcade option, but the mouse movements at that point are so over the top, combat is just a functioning nightmare.
Honestly, I couldn't get past that, so I have no idea if the game is good or not. It's probably not fair to compare to Elite Dangerous, because this game is a single developer effort, and ED isn't, but that's the market, so the comparison stands. ED has horrible mouse controls too, or at least it did a year ago when I pretty much gave up on it too. But at least the interface was mostly intuitive, whereas SpaceBourne's UI is almost user hostile. Not.ONE.Thing about it is intuitive in the least.
All that said, fantastic effort for a one man band... but that doesn't make it a good game.
Just a good try.

Xbox One controller is only partially functional. Some of the buttons you are told to press during the tutorial DON'T WORK. None of the controls can be remapped, as the remapping feature in the settings DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.
The mouse and keyboard controls do function, but the mouse isn't sensitive enough to turn right and left. The only way to navigate in battle is by CONTINUING TO SHOVE THE MOUSE TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, making the game essentially unplayable. You'd need a mouse pad about six feet wide to play this thing properly.
I can ignore the grammar in the game being incorrect and the subtitles rarely matching the voice overs, but when the game is so broken I can't even fly the little ship, it's time to request a refund.
How has the dev let the game continue in this state for YEARS?

Made by a single developer with passion and the willingness to take his community feedback to heart!
It plays out like a mix of freelancer with a nice dose of RPG mechanics.
Once you get used to the controls it can be really fun, there is plenty of things to do such as bounty missions
mining, and a pretty good trade system. It is well worth the price!
The developer has been working on the next game and I can't wait to see it in action..

UI could have been much better, ship-progression deeper, trade less meaningles, non-combat actions, like navigating stations less pointlesly time-consuming e t c... combat was the ony fun part for me and it went 'old' fairly quickly due to lack of any diversity and complexity. Mission all of a sudden making enemies immortal and partially inactive to let you 'escape' did not help either, it could have been done in better ways. Traders still having turrets shouldn't make their hulls immortal either.
If this game gets a discount, it's probably worth trying.

At the core of the game is a fun space fighting/trading/light RPG. Except in reality, its a 'travel simulator'. Need to do a mission? walk to your ship and launch from the station (cutscene), open your solar system map, warp to the nearest gate (cutscene), get to the gate, select the gate, open the map, choose your destination (cutscene). Get to the new solar system, open the map, warp to the new station (cutscene). Get o the station, select the station to land on it (cutscene). Once on the station, run ALL THE WAY across the station to sell your stuff to the weapons merchant. Wait! he has a great new turret, so you buy that. Then walk ALL THE WAY across the station, install the gun in your ship, then walk ALL THE WAY back across the station to the merchant to sell the old one. Have some stuff that the weapon merchant won't buy? Oh look, the trader is ALL THE WAY over there - no where near your ship, OR the merchants! And you still haven't talked to anyone mission related, and they're clear across the station in another direction!
You spend an inordinate amount of time in this game sitting, traveling and watching cutscenes. The walking on the stations is the worst - back and forth across the stations constantly, and nothing is close to each other.
Missions are fun, combat is simple but engaging. The translations aren't great, but I don't mind that at all, it adds character. But my god, the walking and warping take so much time, I've pretty much given up on finishing at this point.

First off I was not expecting to much, being a single developer you always expect a few things to be a little lack luster. But I was quite surprised.
Graphics: Gets the job done, with some parts actually very nice indeed. I noticed the UI has been overhauled and I quite like the new UI interface compared to the older one.
Sound: Combat music is great, nothing like Rock music in combat. I was very surprised as I normally turn off music in game, but Spacebourne I enjoy the music to much to turn it down. Very well done!
UI: Functional, been update just prior to when I got my copy of the game, this was a good choice to update the UI. There is a few things that niggle at me., But overall it works well.
Gameplay (Campaign): I am 10 hours into the Story Campaign and enjoying every step of the way. Most games like this I skip story parts and get into the sandbox part, but the campaign makes me want to know what is coming next. Its not amazingly good, but holds it own to keep you wanting to know more.
Gameplay (Combat and general riffraff): Combat is fun, a very arcade feel to it. But this adds to the fun. Your zip around turning on a dime, bringing your weapons to bare. The choice of weapons Turrets, Laser and missiles are fun to use and work very well. I can run contract missions all day long for the combat alone. Lots of loot from combat aftermath, from junk to sell, weapons and upgrades to use/sell. Your able to mine asteroids, trade wares from station to station. Your able to scan each sector for locate special area's to investigate (asteroid fields, Wrecks to salvage, Anomalies to search, Wormholes to battle enemies and more). The Developer has thought of it all and it all works quite well.
Overall thoughts: For the price tag, Spacebourne is a great game, that will give you more than your money's worth out if it. If you enjoy Arcade style space combat, Scifi story campaign's and just sandbox space games, then Spacebourne may be a game worthy of your Steam library.
Spacebourne 7.5/10

Controlls are a bit odd and there are some quirks in gameplay, but that's all. Graphics are not state of the art, but gameplay is sure better than Star Citizen's. I hope the developer (is it just one? As the details say? One person created this? WOW), or the team, adds more content, some graphics enhancements, UE engine is very good and better gamepad support. It works, but not quite natural as expected, but it's playable. No, I love this game. Really. Bought it since Early Access as I have seen its potential.
I am a rookie with only a few hours, will post more when I will master the game. I love the exploration potential, mining, as in Elite I only mine. This game can do what others failed (yes SC, you). So what if the graphics are not like SC? So what? The game is more enjoyable, no server crash, no 30k, no bugs (yet).
Please make a sequel in the near future. Please read this comment ... even if I am not that important, but one wish is to see the game grow in any possible way.
Let's hope for more star systems and mining potential + adding some beautiful places to visit, explore some nebulae, black holes, pulsars, stuff like that, in future patches :)
Dev, or devs, great job. Really, no suckup, a honest opinion.
P.S. I hope it's open world, not just campaign mode (I know there is also a sandbox mode, but not that, that has no missions), I mean, I don't want to finish the game, I want to play missions, generated randomly or procedurally, but with no end. To play indefinitely. Like an online game. Mining + exploring.

A space sim rpg with an interesting story and gameplay where you pilot a spaceship, go on quests and fighting foes. Though graphics are okay, doesn't look too great but the gameplay is the more important aspect. Playable with mouse and keyboard, or with a controller, you can fly to a wide range of different areas, to take on side missions if you wish to diverge from the main storyline. There are a bunch to do as you progress and upgrade, leveling yourself as well as your ship such as modifying and upgrading new weapons to use to attack enemies, The mechanics is pretty fun as you can tumble roll and boost for example as you shoot and try to dodge the enemies. The different modes of weapons you have at once is also fun as you have larger amounts to face. Like swapping from lasers to big missile to machine guns. Overall, id recommend it to those interested checking out an arcadey space sim.

There is a great deal here that is fun, surprising and at times inspiring.
There is also need for improvement in many areas which I hope will be addressed in the future.
What we have here is a sandbox with the parameters of the experience framed, but not completed. It does not feel like a finished game, but more of a Beta.
Combat is fun. Leveling is fun. There is not much in the way of exploration, as the systems are not that different. More missions, deeper and more meaningful factions would be great as well as sub factions more salient.
There are tricks to get massive amount of credits fast. I have a level 23 character with three ultra rare ships. This seemed too easy. The loot tables need a bit of work so there is a more even distribution of what types of things you can find at what point in the game.
I can clearly see the vision of what the Developer is aiming for and they are certainly on the right track.
For $15 it is a bargain. For a one person development team, it is amazing. I would love to work with him as he certainly gets stuff done and is very skilled. This is the context with which you need to see this entertainment experience. If you are expecting a 50 Million dollar budget and 40 people working on it, then you are not looking at this correctly. This is a high quality indie offering from a very skilled and self disciplined developer. Kudos for his work.

„Enemy detected!“
Oh no. Just one, only ONE Mining Day without Pirates who wants to get Slowys…. Ehm my hard by work earned money. Hectically pressing some buttons and my Seat gets from chilling into combat Position. Changing my Ship from automatically into manual Mode. This is something i handle on my own!
2 other Ships around, who also were mining are joining me. Firing my Laser destroys the first Pirate. Low Shields, eh? Going after another pirate using my turret. Okay, this one is tougher and flexible, this guy. But you know what? Missile locked and fire! That ship goes down in a big explosion. Uh, uh, the pirates destroyed one of the other miners. Revenge is best served…..sweet!
Another 2 Pirates bites the Vacuum. Well, looks like the others notice, that i´m the dangerous one from us left two ships. Ouch. Hey, that paint was new, you stupid Pirate Idiot! Ouch, another hit, Shields down and breaches in my Window. No thats not good. Oh just a Moment! The Cloaking Device! Fastly pressing the 6 Button and my Ship goes Stealth! Now you are mine!
3 Lazer Shots later, all is quiet. The surviving miner goes back to work and i sigh at my damaged Ship.
Whats that? Oh, Slowy is starting to repair my ship. Good old Slowy, what would i do without you? Getting the Seat back into Chilling position i watch Slowy repairing the Ship and then collecting the Cargo, the Pirates left. Maybe some good wares to sell.
Speedy can wait. Next Money goes to better Shields. We have a whole Universe waiting for us.
And to survive!
Yes, this is a typical Moment in SPACEBOURNE. And i love it.
SPACEBOURNE is what you have when you put ELITE, FREELANCER, PRIVATEER and WING COMMANDER in one jar and stir all together.
You are „The Commander“, a hero that was put into cryogenically Sleep, because he was infected by an unhealable disease after he nearly lead the Human Race to Victory against an Alien Race that attacked Earth. After beeing awakened many years later you can continue your glory leading! You wish so, but no.
You awake in an abandoned Space Station and recognize Earth was lost. Guided by an A.I. you find a ship and start into the Unknown.
SPACEBOURNE is an open World Game where you can explore a whole universe. Like in classic Games it is your choice how you go on. Will you trade goods or will you go on Bounty hunting? Maybe doing missions? You can follow a Main Quest Storyline or just do everything around. What i really like is, that you not can only upgrade or buy new ships, you can Level with your Pilot and get new skills.
What more? You are able to visit Space Stations and walk around there, selling or buying Stuff, playing Games like Robo Race, getting missions and much more.
In Space you can easily travel through the Galaxys. There it can be that you receive a Message from attacked Ships that needs help or you will be attacked while you are mining or something. When it comes to Combat,i like the Combat! This feels EXACTLY like FREELANCER. Fast and easy. Well done!
What also more? In this Universe are factions at war. You can join them or you can stay on your own, beeing your own faction and building an army by yourself. It is all up to you.
SPACEBOURNE is a very nice Game for many hours playing fun. It finally left Early Access after 2 Years and yes, there are still bugs but the Dev is still hard working on it. Be patient, it is no AAA title from a big Company, no, it took me by surprise that this is created by one Man ONLY. You have my greatest respect, dear Dev, for this amazing work.
Also for taking so much time too listen and answer to the Community. And not to forget your constant updates.
You did an amazing Job here and i thank you for bringing back some good old Memories and getting them back to life, by giving me a key. For me, your Game is a big Hommage to some good old Games.
Thank you very, very much.
So, dear Reader, it is up to you to decide.
If you like Space Sim Games i´m sure you will like it. If you want to know how Space Sims in the „Golden Age“ were it is also for you, because it is much fun. If you want a perfect AAA Title Game from a big Team with much money, you are wrong here. This is a little Indie Pearl, but maybe you should give it a try, maybe you will like it, too.
Thank you for reading.

It will grow and become better as time passes and people believe in it. This has got an old school feel to it, like a shooter/sim. Sometimes a relief from hardcore sims.
I haven't played a massive amount of the game but the mechanics and feel of it certainly work well.
It is worth buying and adding to your space sim library. Constant updates seem to appear and we'll see more added and tweaked as they go. Well done devs and all the team, this will be a popular game indeed.
Onwards and upwards!

I'm not sure if anyone else has figured it out but there's a very easy way to make tons of cash - I won't be divulging this here.
Combat is fun and can be challenging - this is a good thing!
More ships are defo needed and more info before buying a ship - maybe i'm missing something but it isn't clear what exactly can be fitted before purchase?. I simply save before hand and check them out.
In asteroid fields, if pirates arrive, they only focus on the player. Would be kewl to be able to protect other miners and maybe get a reward of some sort.
I've only come across 1 bug atm but that's already known to the dev.
All in all, i'll defo be playing alot more of this game. Don't be put off from other reviews, check youtube vids and decide for yourself:)

This game reminds me of wing commander: privateer which is very high praise if you knew how much I liked WC:P.
Granted it has all of the pitfalls of a low budget early access mess but there's a lot of potential here if the devs don't give up on it.
For the asking price, definitely worth getting and playing as-is. A solid 3/5 on the nox scale adjusted for early access which includes the free star for early access. I recommend getting it if you like the genre, but early access etc. Expect frustration, broken and missing stuff. The usual.

I can only assume that prior reviews were during early access, because I see people and mission givers all over the place, no bugs or crashes, it's just clean. After playing the mess of a game that X is, and other similar games that are very repetitious, I've finally found a refreshing addition to the genre with some very good design decisions that eliminate tedium, and also details that demonstrate a passion for this project.
Highly recommend, a steal at current pricing. I would easily pay double or more tbh.

SPAAAACE!
Spacebourne is honestly a bit of an enigma. I've played a little in early access, I've played a little after 1.0 release and I have to say I'm bit nonplussed. While impressive in some regards, it feels slightly underwhelming.
Being reductive, Spacebourne is an indie, well even more indie “Space Trucker Sim”—“Sci-fi bounty hunter”—“Space Age Entrepreneurial resource exchange simulation”. You know, a space game. You can upgrade your ship's hardpoints. You can even purchase drones to help in larger battles and swat down “flies” i.e., ships too small and fast to be bothered with while dodging other incoming fire. It's very arcade-y, the flight itself. But still has full pitch, roll and yaw functions.
There's manual flight for combat and auto-mode for tinkering with cargo or checking the Atlas for jumpgate connections among other things. A sort of “hands-off” management mode.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2171210227
An empty sandbox is still fun to certain types of people.
Now, the game isn't empty by any stretch; though it does feel a little lifeless at times. Through your travels in each sector and jumpgate you'll probably find that inside the stations there isn't much variety to be offered. Which is to be expected, quite honestly. The NPCs don't offer much in flavor text either, explicitly telling the player the archetype of a certain species without being prompted beyond asking what they are. Then the conversation usually dies after asking if there's any work or heard any rumors.
One of my freelance missions I took was to help defend a station, they didn't even greet me—I'm not one to normally enjoy small talk, but I'm helping you defend your home! A thanks would have been nice.
There is a pretty decent story—as in, main quest. But I wouldn't say that's where the game truly shines. Going around and doing random missions, whether they be destroying bad people raiding a research station or just flying in between sectors looking for good prices on medical equipment after reading the economy news section are where the best stuff happens. The issue is, in order to find these missions, you have to scan for freelance missions while in auto-mode, floating out in space. However, you can also acquire some slightly more important missions from the office sections of stations. Which seem to be heavily inspired by Mass Effect.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2171210202
The main quest is cool. It involves what is presumed to be one of the last humans alive, put into stasis for [at least] 23 years, staying off the inevitability of death. But with the vague hope a cure would be discovered/researched/manufactured for his ostensibly incurable disease. It's a great preamble to a story. But one I ultimately felt unengaged by.
More than meets the eye.
What makes Spacebourne stand out a bit more than other space games is that the pilot themselves will level up. They have a set of base stats, and in sandbox mode you're able to choose from a few different starting sets. Varying from the more hot-headed weapon builds to the less antagonist economics major. And your base stats will improve based on your actions. You can then level into certain abilities in the tech tree. These abilities are separate from the ship you pilot as well. Making upgrading your ship's gear a worthy endeavor to boot.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2171210163
THE GIST:
Spacebourne is a tiny package that has a lot to offer. Though it certainly could be a lot better. However, I would say that given its initial launch price of $15USD, I'd say it's above average for what typically is offered in that range. Personally I'd say it was a slightly more robust but still very janky version of “Subdivision Infinity”—a sort of, as stated, even more indie Starpoint Gemini.

Pros:
*huge map
*leveling system
*story and lore( they even explain why exactly you can understand aliens and other languages)
* sandbox mechanics
*complex economy
Cons:
*outdated graphics(it is okay for such a price tho)
*bugs(I had to restart the game twice because of the character could not do anything some moments)

I was interested by the space combat, war battles, building an army with my own station with upgrades, leveling up my character, and doing it all in single player. It's pretty simple to pick up the controls, the space combat is nice and feels smooth. The game is difficult at first as you have weak ship components and figure things out. The reward system feels appropriate without having to grind too much or spend a lot of time to save money for upgrades. I did hit a wall a couple hours in feeling like things were becoming repetitive. I took a break and it was nice to play again, so I can't say this game is binge worthy for some people.
I have yet to use the economic trading system, get hunted by bounty hunters, buy a space station and build my army, or explore every system. It's still fun for the price or wait until it goes on sale. Definitely needs more work. The developer says it's being updated soon to come out of early access, although that's over a year behind what they originally stated. Hopefully the continue updating the game.

Ever Space than you'll like this game. Plus this has a little more in-depth RPG elements.

Probably the best space games I ever played.
Suggestions for development:
-Being able to fully customize the character's appearance, face, hair, male or female, body type etc...
-Having different clothing and spacesuits for your character.
-Customizing the ship's esthetics, painting, logos...
-Why are there a bunch of planets that we can't travel to?
-Having an automated picking up cargo from destroyed ships during battle instead of having to stop moving and changing mode which make you a vulnerable target.
-Selecting a mission while in a space station, the mission won't be selected anymore when you go back in space.
-Capturing escape pods with the slave's web works 1/20 even when in a very close range. This should work 100% of the time when in range of slave's web capability.
-The slave's trader doesn't give me any money for the slaves.
-A lot of the supernumerary are just standing there doing nothing or are just walking nowhere without any purpose.
-How come am I obligated to do a mission for the Xziaz leader if my whole purpose of existence is to annihilate them to the last until only their leader remains. I also intend to infect him of a deadly virus. I hope this is possible.
-Why are there limited resources in the asteroid field? It's not even enough to fill my whole mining ship's cargo.
-Mining doesn't pay enough money.
-Doesn't give me a mission complete after killing a bounty. I have to leave the area and come back later to kill him again. I killed Watrez and Zoona Jakal 3-4 times each already.
-There should be cargo ships travelling between stations that we could destroy and loot. Like a pirate or outlaw would do.
-Bugs in the MISC tool while mining.
-When at the trader if you click on: Name, Stock or Tools blue icons, it bugs the whole game.
-The Dart Wrat ship's turret isn't precise at all. It makes it impossible to fight capital ships.
-It would be nice if there was some cinematic between the missions. Voice acting also.
-Pirates should be a faction.

The quests i did also seemed pretty weak, i got a quest to help a mother find her son who had joined a gang so naturally when you find him you kill all his friends and take him back to his mother. Some cutscenes are pretty buggy but its not that big a deal, i would have liked to recommend this but i cant. This game needs allot of work yet the creator is already working on the sequal.

The graphics are outstanding, and you can select what type of music you want to hear. I like the classical selection. It's nice, and easy going.
Learning the ships mechanics is basically like any other space game, and the three tutorials helps get you through that. It pretty much covers most aspects, and the rest is trial, and error, but I don't think you'll Rage Quite if you add a pinch of patience.
I would recommend this to any space faring junkie. It's fun, and immersive.
