The humour in cutscenes and choice of enemies is still here, but there's less standout moments. I would happily replay Stick of Truth for it's ridiculous plot, you get to try the different classes and different strategies thanks to the depth. I doubt I'll be replaying this. Also if you get the DLC, the beginning of the game is way too easy because you're spammed with high level equipment early.

I bought this game, along with the season pass to unlock all its DLCs after having an amazing time playing South Park: The Stick of Truth.
If you got this game expecting it to be anything like Stick of Truth, you're terribly mistaken:
-Different combat style compared to the Stick of Truth
-Costumes have no perks and you can't add any until you progress quite a bit into the game
-Cut scenes aren't as entertaining
-Every time you enter combat, you're sitting there for about a minute or two until all fighting prompts pop up.
-Inconsistent and random game crashes while entering or exiting buildings.
-3rd party activation tool (Uplay) which can be annoying since you have to have it downloaded to play the game.
Obviously these are my opinions and experiences so far with the game but ffs it's been 4 years since this game came out and there are still so many bugs.
If it's on sale, be my guest and buy the game but never buy it full price because I don't think it's worth it.

The fighting in Stick of Truth was cool but lightweight.
Now it’s deeper, richer, and more strategic, with some brilliantly designed battles that require genuine tactical thinking.
With loads of customization's and improvements
There are buffs, debuffs, elemental magic, and summons, as well as dramatic, superbly animated ultimate attacks.
And a new grid system adds extra complexity, with chain attacks, knockbacks, and powers that force you to think about where characters are positioned on the battlefield.

I definitely recommend this game, due to its replayability, humour, many references and incredible soundtrack.
They have put a lot of love and farts in this game, which makes it all the more likeable.
As stated above, the soundtrack is incredible and true to its form.
Try getting all the achievements and you'll have some (next to) endless fun :)

The only noteworthy bug I experienced was later in the game where you're fighting some cats and the game seems to hang between combat turns. I had to alt+tab out and then back in again to keep the combat moving for that one fight, but otherwise my experience was smooth.
Definitely worth getting for South Park and Stick of Truth fans.

Honestly, this game is only getting a pass because it still lives up to South Park style. However, overall I believe it to be weaker than The Stick of Truth.
I think as a whole, the game was maybe a bit too long and didn't have as many stand-out set pieces as the other game. I think there was more time on what felt like fetch quests with little uniqueness. Therefore, the combat, despite its changes, grew stale as well. You usually ended up with the same move cycles in combat and no reason to change.
But if you like South Park, it's still worth your time. I found the 2 expansions for Casa Bonita and the camp to be quite interesting and a nice change of pace.

The game has many positive aspects. It involves all the major characters of the original show, and, being a direct sequel to the Stick of Truth, includes all the relevant characters from the previous game. That's a significant advantage, as most of the major characters have their part in the story.
The new combat system allows to implement more strategies, especially thanks to the fact that it is based on positioning and range. This is a major improvement of the combat in The Stick of Truth. The music is quite good too, and the voice acting is brilliant, as ever. You can also notice the changes in the city that happened in the further seasons of the show, which is quite strange, because the story apparently takes place on the day following the events of the Stick of Truth.
All that's all I can say about the positive aspects of the game. Despite having a lot of content, the game is just boring, it's focus on the quantity affected quality. The plot is long, boring, has strange twists, and makes absolutely no sense in the end. It almost feels like they tried to artificially lengthen the game.
There are all the different kinds of collectibles like followers, yaoi, member berries, and costumes, however they do not serve any purpose at all, unlike in The collectibles in Stick of Truth. You don’t even get an achievement for completing these sets in most cases. The minigames are just senseless time-fillers that do not provide any benefits upon completion.
The player is encouraged to complete their character sheet, but this only serves the purpose of artificially prolonging the game, as race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and economic status of the character exerts absolutely no impact on the gameplay or the story.
To obtain said collectibles you need to solve plenty of repetitive, boring puzzles, which take forever to complete – not because it requires so much intellectual effort, but you need to rely on the abilities of your buddies, he animations of which are unnecessarily long and are unskippable.
Speaking of unskippable, if you’re looking for a quick second playthrough, just to obtain the missing achievements, you may get frustrated. Some cutscenes cannot be skipped despite there being a button prompt, and, what is more irritating, even if you know the passcodes to some locks, the game will force you to once again solve the puzzles that let you obtain them, even if you input the exact same password beforehand. There are also some misplaced checkpoints. When you reach such checkpoints and die in combat, you suffer heavily from the constantly repeating sequences and going through the same dialogue over, over and over again.
As far as the gameplay is concerned, the game is interesting in the beginning, only to become tedious later on. Various glitches occur during battles, there is a very small variety of enemies, and the combat is not challenging whatsoever. Playing on mastermind difficulty I only struggled with one or two encounters.
Finally, the game has absolutely no replay value. I replied The Stick of Truth over and over to try out every possible character class and some builds. In The Fractured But Whole the player is allowed to have multiple classes at the same time, and change them without any limits during one playthrough. At some point in the game you can even change skills from every class and combine them freely between encounters.
The Stick of Truth felt like a more classic game that was put into the realm of South Park. This one feels like South Park’s parody on terrible quality of games nowadays. And that’s more frustrating than funny.

+ Great graphics, looks like the show but more detailed, runs at a high FPS
+ Really good special effects on abilities
+ Good voice acting like the show, frequent lines from characters, I didn't find them too repetitive
+ Controls are good on keyboard and mouse
+ Options to skip / make things like quick time events easier
+ Lots of customization of abilities and cosmetics
+ Good length, took me about 25+ hours to finish the base game
+ Plenty of references to episodes and humour
+ Lots of collectables
- Ran into one bug every now and then where combat would freeze up and I'd have to load a checkpoint
- Sometimes using your mouse in UI can be weird
I find this game isn't better than Stick of Truth, just different. I do prefer this though.
I'm just sad that if they make another South Park game, it will not be on Steam because Ubisoft hate their consumers >.>

Also the DLCs are pretty worth it, the classes they add are pretty different than the ones in the base game, and the chapters themselves have some pretty fun fights.
If i had to complain about something, its the need to use the damn Ubisoft launcher. However, with more and more steam games doing basically the same thing for different publishers, its looking like its an annoyance I'm just gonna have to get used to.
Overall a Strong 8/10!

There are a number of mechanical improvements in the world screen to enable team-up interactions for solving environmental puzzles. Combat mechanics were revamped to allow characters to move around the battlefield and position themselves for combos. This also allowed for ground targets for skills and many new mechanics to spice up the encounters. These changes vastly improved overall combat enjoyment despite increasing encounter length.
The world map was enhances with a number of puzzles and foundable objects, this adds to the gameplay length.
There is also a crafting system for additional gear and consumables.... well, anyway it's there, so.
Recruit all the kids, try all of their skill combos, there is plenty to experiment with and enjoy!

+ The combat is vastly improved, with much more depth of strategy, more simultaneous companions, and customization of ability loadout
+ There are much less missable items
~ The humor and writing is the same caliber as what you would expect from the show
- There is more playtime to be had in Fractured But Whole. This was actually a slight negative in my opinion since it felt like a more stretched out experience than the compact leave-you-wanting-more package of the first game

I enjoyed Stick of Truth a lot. This game I spent the whole time just wanting it to be the end.
+ Some of the South Park Humor
+/- The story. Nothing special.
- Uplay
- The mini games are lame and obviously just there for padding.
- Multiple bugs.
-- Having the same NPC's spawn on the screen at a time.
-- Having to switch to controller because it wouldn’t recognize my button inputs for some of the mini games.
-- Having to reload the game because it would break during battle.
-- Sound glitches where music won’t stop playing no matter where you go or no audio plays when NPC mouths move or attack.

This is the sequel to Stick of Truth it's based in the exact same time-frame just pursuit differently, The combat is much better which I really enjoyed throughout the game. It was pretty cleaver on how they tied it with Stick of Truth in some ways, making it really feel like an episode. You're not required to play Stick of Truth to understand what's going on since the whole thing is a mess when it comes to story. If your a fan of South Park, you'll enjoy this game. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone who isn't a fan.
Total Score = 67/100.

South Park: Stick of Truth
GAMEPLAY:
Based on the American adult animated television series South Park, it is the sequel to the 2014 video game South Park: The Stick of Truth. The game's narrative occurs one day after the events of its predecessor; it follows the New Kid, who has recently moved to South Park and becomes involved in an epic role-play involving two rival superhero factions vying to create their own superhero media franchises. The superheroes' game unintentionally uncovers a conspiracy to raise crime in the town, bringing them into conflict with super-villains, genetically engineered monsters, the police, crime families, and the new kingpin of crime.
The game is played from a 2.5D third-person perspective, replicating the aesthetic of the television series. The New Kid is able to freely explore South Park, interacting with characters, undertaking quests, and accessing new areas by progressing through the main story. The player can choose from up to ten superhero archetypes ranging from high-speed Speedsters, close-combat Brutalists, powerful Psychics, and healing Plantmancers; each offering unique abilities. The New Kid and up to three allies fight their enemies using attacks including melee, ranged, and powerful farts. Battles take place on a grid, around which participants can move freely. Attacks have specific areas of effect, requiring tactical positioning for attack and defence.

It's longer than The Stick of Truth. The story is great, standard southpark affair.
The problem is the Denuvo Anti-Tamper and the Uplay BS. People that pay for games pay for games, people that don't don't, adding Denuvo doesn't change that fact one bit. It's not like this game has online multiplayer or anything. When it comes to the Uplay... Years and years ago, I bought a boxed copy of Half-Life 2, and Valve decided to shove Steam down my throat against my will in order to play the game that I had already purchased. They were the first ones to do it. You can't come along a decade and a half after they did it and try to do it yourself. Ubisoft games are largely high-budget shovelware, and the only reason I bought this game is because of the South Park IP. Adding your store does nothing to encourage me to purchase more from you.
Denuvo is malware, Uplay is adware. Both are completely unnecessary, pollute my system, and reflect negatively on both South Park as a franchise and Ubisoft as a developer.
That said, this is still a good game. Buy it because it's South Park and a good game, then come here and complain about the additional feces it's packaged with.
