Wer Sniper Elite V2 bereits besitzt und nun mit der Remastered Version liebäugelt, um noch einmal die alten Zeiten aufleben zu lassen, sollte dringend auf einen Rabatt für die 'Upgrade for Original Owners' Version warten. Grafisch gesehen darf man keine Wunder erwarten, allzu viel wurde nämlich nicht geändert. Lediglich die höhere Auflösung und einige neu hinzugefügte Effekte fallen nicht gerade sigifikant auf. Die plumpen und stocksteifen Bewegungsanimationen, vorallem beim eigenem Charakter, sehen nicht nur unschön aus, sondern reißen einen auch mit Vorliebe regelmässig aus dem Spielgeschehen heraus. Wer es ehr auf die etwas moderneren Teile 3 und/oder 4 abgesehen hat, sollte auf einen manchmal recht günstigen Bundle-Sale auf das 'Sniper Elite Complete Pack' warten. Dann erhält man Sniper Elite 1-4 bereits zusammen für unter 30 Euro. ;)

Sniper Elite 2 Remastered ist wegen seiner neuen verbesserten Grafik empfehlenswert. Für Besitzer der Original Version ist das Spiel für nur 10 Euro verfügbar. Wer das Original mochte wird die Remastered Version lieben, denn gute Sniper Spiele sind selten und dieses Spiel hat Flair. Auch die detaillierte Darstellung des menschlichen Körpers bei einem guten Treffer sieht sehr interessant aus und zeigt dem Spieler die Organe des Gegner im Detail.

TLDR; This game aged terribly. Get Sniper Elite 3 instead.

To add a bit of depth to my review, here are some points I observed while playing:

+Satisfying and kickass X-ray camera effect! The major selling point for the series.
+Interesting story.

-Awful level design. Most levels are non-linear and that's good, but some areas are inaccessible because of invisible walls. There are LOTS of invisble walls. And the floor is sometimes wonky to navigate.
-Enemy AI is very dumb and the animations are rough and janky, especially during combat.
-Difficulty is not fun and often frustrating because of janky AI behavior. Not worth trying at the highest difficulty.
-Cover system sucks most of the time.

I actually like SE4 and have enjoyed SE3 but this one is really mediocre.

Pros:
+ Okay sniping mechanics.
+ A few decent missions.

Cons:
- Some timed objectives.
- Very poor level design compared to SE4, a sniper game should be a lot more open than this.
- Almost no decent vantage points.
- Poor gunplay for SMGs and pistols.
- Poor mission design for a sniping focused game.
- Poor visuals, this is supposed to be a remaster.

Pretty fun game considering it's $6.99. Just put in your favorite CCR tape and blow the balls off (Literally) Nazi's and Reds. If you're not committing war crimes on Nazis by shooting them in the balls, are you really trying at all? Really gratifying to start a gun fight between those anti-semi bastards and the Russians and you're hiding under a pile of dead bodies unnoticed, unseen.
All in all, I give Super Paper Mario Thousand Year Door a 4/5

Best version that you can get for this game really and, if you're like me, this remaster also serves as a nice excuse to get the dlc content you didn't have.

The game still holds up beautifully, it's still immensely satisfying to partake in the sniping of Nazis whilst you stare at the x-ray cams detailing the damage of your bullets in visceral and graphical detail.

While there have been improvements in the next games, with the fourth instalment being the best for me at this point, this is still a game that balances between its stealth and sniping sections, forcing them down to the player but not to the same degree than Sniper Elite 3 did, so it remains the second best for me, I'm quite happy I got it.

+ You get the original V2 included with this remastered version
- The remastered version is basically the same as the original V2

As a standalone upgrade, this is not worth it in the slightest and is another damning testament to the devaluing of the remaster concept. This re-release was conceived just to sell the game again on the newer consoles (PS4/XB1) which makes more sense than this seemingly pointless upgraded version for PC. Even maxed out, it basically looks the same, or similar to how a free texture pack mod would look.

Also newcomers to either version should be warned that the game works significantly better with a controller - mouse and keyboard is far too janky and animations look very twitchy and erratic even with dramatically lowered sensitivity. In all fairness it's not bad getting both games especially in a deep sale but there really is no reason to play both - the original is perfectly fine and the remaster does very little to justify its existence.

As I mentioned in my Sniper Elite V2 review, if you like 3rd person Sniper games, I guess you will like this game too.

You will easily notice the texture details, shading qualities, compelling artificial intelligence of the enemies and more realistic atmospheres of the maps between the refurbished and original versions. I am one of those who think that every game should be played with its originality, but you can no longer access the original of Sniper Elite V2 on Steam. You need to get the remastered version.

I had a great time playing it, I recommend you to experience it wholeheartedly.

Game is super short (each level takes about 5-15 minutes to beat.) Overall game mechanics such as the gunplay, movement and everything else feels super delayed, unresponsive and just really janky. Would recommend skipping this game entirely and just moving on to the future games in the franchise. A solid 4/10

Picked this up after really liking Sniper Elite 4. most of what i like about 4 is not in this game. most disappointing was the level design not being as open as in 4, same goes for the mobility of the player character and the stealth. Sniping is still fun in this, but everything around it is much worse than in later iterations.

To start I love Sniper Elite games, but with that said you guys F'ed up big time on SEV2 Remastered, There are MORE glitches in the Remake than the original V2. I just bought this the other day for $11 and it was a WASTE of money, I see on Steam that you want $8 for the first SE game, I have it on CD but can't play it on my PC with Win-10. I feel ripped off in the purchase of V2 Remastered, sure it LOOKS a bit better on the graphics but that's it, can't even get all the Achievements they should just be given to all that purchased it for there are no Severs anymore for it or even co-op. Sad when the Devs don't care about the people who buy their games, just take their money and then Screw them.

Kinda dissapointed with this remastered.

I thought it would fix some of the clunkyness of its gameplay but the game is EXACTLY the same with some graphics and QoL improvements.

I've stepped at the same movement bugs, the same stealth bugs, everything I've encountered in the first SEV2 is here, in a bad way.

This game only feels good when you're shooting with your Sniper , the whole thing arround it is terrible.

Overall, a fun and engaging sniper simulator game... that is, regrettably, burdened by too many bugs and annoying mechanics.

Pros:
+ solid gameplay
+ above average story
+ bullet cam (that thing just never gets old or boring)
+ great graphics

Cons:
- short story (~10 hours)
- pretty linear level design: no player freedom allowed. usually there is only one correct way to approach an objective and complete a mission; if you try to improvise, you'll most likely bump into an invisible wall. all in all, the game holds your hand and never lets go until the very last mission, which is incredibly frustrating.
- stupid and/or unfair AI: sometimes, you can kill half a dozen guys in front of an enemy, and he'll barely notice; other times, enemies become psychic/omniscient beings that can see you behind any cover, shooting you without warning James Bond style (don't get me started on the snipers in this game... oh, I will anyway ;)
- the snipers: these guys are THE WORST. they are the bane of this game. they can ALWAYS spot you from almost any distance, no matter what you do, rendering stealthy approach literally impossible.
- crazy sound rendering: often times, you will hear an enemy somewhere close to you (right behind you, to the right, to the left, even in front of you), yet the enemy producing this sound might be 100-200 m away from you in a random direction.
- no proper badges for completing a mission in a specific style: loud, stealth, ghost etc. (if you've played Hitman: Blood Money, you know what I mean). therefore, you can never know whether you nailed the mission or messed up badly.

Verdict: 6/10.
Solid game to introduce you to the Sniper Elite genre.
Purchase at a reasonable discount (btw, there's a great bundle containing all 4 Sniper Elite games).

The spiritual torchbearer for Hidden and Dangerous, SV2 scratched the WW2 itch back in the day but this remaster can't paper over the ageing engine, janky movement, and overall dated design. Played this back in the day and while putting bullets through Nazis' soft, red, pulpy bits never gets old, this game is showing its age and doesn't really hold up today. Especially in light of the sequels. YMMV, thumbs up from me for nostalgia,

I don't think that they have done any gameplay improvement over the original game and the graphics is not much improved.The AI is one of the worst i have seen in a game,also enemies spawn out of nowhere.No x-ray like SE 3 and SE 4.The guns are not that good.Stealth is almost non existent in this game.The game is priced similarly to the SE 4 deluxe edition in my country,just buy the SE 4.

Im giving this game a do not buy for ubisofts practice of removing english from their games if you buy it in other countries. if i buy the game in the US or canada i can set different languages in the game menu but if you buy it in some other countries they remove english as an option all together. the game ran in english for me for months but now it has changed the in game language to chinese without me doing anything. so a warning to any english language buyers outside of an english speaking country about ubisofts new anti english update. oh and when i have played the demos for some of their other their games they have it was always in english but after you buy it it will change.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a solid remaster that allows you to experience the campaign, DLC levels, and visceral, satisfying shooting the game is known for. Some aspects of the game have not seen much of an upgrade if any upgrade at all, with the game's AI and the audio system showing its age. Despite that, the game is an enjoyable way to hop back into Rebellion's classic franchise.

I think the Sniper Elite series has gotten better, however this particular game is incredibly frustrating.

Pros:
- Interesting missions
- Good bullet physics

Meh:
- Regenerating health. It's the only reason this game isn't Nintendo-Hard.

Cons:
- Movement physics: You will get stuck moving along walls, as though they're made of velcro. Your character will snag on corners all the time.
- Cover System: What is and isn't cover, and what you can and cannot jump over is really just a cointoss, and will get you killed thinking you had an escape route or at least cover.
- Camera: It's offset too much to one side and especially coming in/out of doorways, you will not be able to see enemies who can immediately spot you
- Scripted events: You play as a sniper, you have very limited close range ammo. But the game has scripted sequences all over where as you approach an open area and have no cover, the enemies will run in and start shooting you immediately. Why?
- Last, enemy AI can spot you if they so much as see your toe, or even through bushes that are opaque to you.

I like Sniper Elite and it is a good game that I've enjoyed for a number of years.
If you have enjoyed Sniper Elite 2 in the past and want a very slightly more crisp experience then I would recommend this game, but... not much has changed from the original.

It's really not worth paying full price for this game and it works out cheaper to buy both the standard edition to get the remastered at a reduced price.

In all it's a fun game but the latest Sniper Elites are a lot more enjoyable to play.

As a remaster, it misses completely but if you're going to play the game for the first time eh, why not play this version? Comes with all the DLC that released for the game, and some extra stuff in the sense of you can change your character out with some other characters from the Zombie Army Trilogy.

Not worth it if you're coming to the game for a fresh coat of paint, but if you're looking to either replay it or play it for the first time I'd say why not

This is not really any better then the original. I played the original not long ago not less then 6 months and it's not even much better which is strange because I have a 4k monitor now and still there is not much difference.

When a npc has been shot and they stumble they are immortal while in there animation sometimes. Which is very frustrating.

The AI is still as jankey as ever.

A sniper was shooting me through a building... 2 solid walls...

The AI insta knows where you are, that ruins the whole game.

The colours are bland as heck.

Also it actually has adverts!
Seriously? I paid for a game, I do NOT WANT TO SEE ADVERTS FOR ANYTHING even if it's other sniper elite games/DLC.

It's just not good.

Typical cash grab.

Was expecting more from a remaster

I was expecting the overall feel, animations and enemies to be remastered and taken directly from Sniper Elite 4 (which is an amazing game) with this games maps and story line. Unfortunately this remaster is just another graphic improvement and nothing else. Stiff and awkward movements, still feels aged.

It's not that it's bad, it's perfectly fine, but it's not worth it at all really, doesn't look or feel much different, for full price it's a waste, just get the original as it's cheaper and nearly the same, and for someone who owns the original, the huge discount on what is essentially a slightly altered version doesn't seem worth it either.

Played the original years back on the X360, decided to get the remaster and play through the co-op with my buddy.

My opinions:

- The visuals are revamped and the game definitely looks a lot more pleasing to the eye than the original, however it still is a very grayscaled game with little colours.
- The story is very uninspiring and the overall gameplay is honestly rather boring. Getting through the missions was a repetitive, mundane process which a lot of the time doesn't make use of items like trip-wires, land mines and dynamite. Stealth is also practically non-existent due to very derpy AI.
- Hitreg/hitscan seems to be utter garbage. On numerous occasions, my friend and I would repeatedly headshot an enemy or centre the shot on his chest, with the bullet visually connecting on his face/chest but the enemy would just duck down and get back up... imagine a game which fails to deliver its primary purpose.

In short, I don't even remember how I played through the original. If you're thinking of getting this game in 2020 for whatever reason, don't go in with high hopes. It's a small visual revamp with added features (i.e. co-op and an empty MP) and a very, very boring story and gameplay.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a third person tactical sniper game.

The sniping is where this game shines. Each shot being affected by wind, gravity (not available on the easiest difficulty) and displayed on the satisfying X-Ray Kill Cam that shows the enemy's organs tear and burst or their bones shatter. Shots can be masked through the environment noise for the stealthy approach. The SMG is highly inaccurate and the pistol is mostly used for it's silencer.

The gameplay is slower paced and tactical where you usually sneak around to take out enemies stealthily or use cover and reposition when fighting. To sneak you can throw rocks to distract enemies, move their dead bodies, mask your rifle shots with global sound (artillery fire). The levels however are linear, so you will always follow a predetermined path. The trip wires, dynamites or land mines are rarely used.

The whole campaign can be played co-op that makes the game easier as you can revive a downed partner instead of that being game over in single player. Overwatch is a fun co-op mode where one player is the spotter, going up close with SMG and pistols doing the objectives and tagging enemies, while the sniper clears the way for his partner. PvP multiplayer exists, but the playerbase has moved on to the newer Sniper Elite titles.

I wouldn't recommend the game for the remaster itself. Some of the visuals are better, but some feel worse than the original. The other added features are the new playable characters from the Zombie Army series (which is a very similar game from Rebellion) and a Photo Mode. It's not worth the upgrade if you have the original. Otherwise the game itself is fun and provides a challenge.

For achievement hunters:
Complete the campaign on the hardest difficulty, get all collectibles, co-op and PvP MP grind, other challenges.

It didn't age well and the plot is nonsensical but it's still a nice piece in the series. If you want a more fleshed out experience go for sniper elite 3/4.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered runs nearly identical to the original V2 but has improved visuals. I noticed that certain actions like reloading now show a circle timer, adding some additional polish to an already great game. Managing to get a detonation kill by sniping an enemy grenade from their waist has never been more satisfying. The additional achievements may be of interest to some but ultimately, I think how much you loved V2 will help you decide if the remaster is worth it or not. However, for those who have a good PC and are new to the series, consider beginning with this elite remaster. Game on.

Haven't played the original one but this one is definitely good game

+Good graphics, especially lightnings
+Long game play, haven't disappointed
+Has co op
+X-ray bullet cameras and they are so cool. Icon of this game
+Decent story
+Stealth and action are mixed in this game. Looks dumb sometimes because when you finish a place and move to another , the enemies are not getting aware even the previous fight was super close. No problem, it perfectly fitted in this game. Its not costing too much time, you can play stealth but after a time you failed? Just continue with normal fight, you will have another stealth chances on same mission. This is the best part of this game in my opinion because this is a game and you should play it for fun
+Number of guns is decent, equipment too
+Controls are smooth
+Difficulty differences, not only changing receiving damage, also adding bullet drops (like wind)
+Extra missions, challenges. They were DLCs though but this version has all DLCs. You are paying just once for whole content
+Menu is so easy to control, UI is so friendly
+Nice music

-Pistol and rifle accuracy
-Only 1 silenced pistol exist and its s*hit
-Cool achievements but some of them are seriously crap, killing hitler from testicles is kinda impossible, and multiplayer achievements. No one will play this game, people just dont care about multiplayer like those games so WHY THE HELL they are adding multiplayer achievements i just cant get it. Exactly 0 player on all day times around the world. Co-op has 0 player as well. (HUGE FACE PALM TO REBELLION)

First game was horrible but this one is good. Hit buy on discount because its an old game

Sniper Elite V2 remastered is a pretty decent game. You have the campaign mission which can be played solo or cooperative with friends. There is a mode called Kill Tally which is generally survive 10 waves of enemies. There are other modes which resemble missions you have to complete. So are swarming with enemy and it is best to clear these out before getting in too close. There are other game tyoes in the game, but would take too much space to type here. The graphics are decent and my GTX 970 can handle the Ultra settings without much issue. The gold bars and bottles are back. This time there are 37 bottles and 100 gold bars. Once you load up this game, it's best to start the game to the lobby and wait. I tried to get in and play right away and the steam overlay didn't work.

The cons to the game are,
in Kill Tally, some of the maps have enemies going to the same locations over and over again. Some of the elite snipers will move around in the buildings making it harder for you to track them down.

I noticed that I cannot setup a coop match and start it. This means if I want to play this I have to do so as a single player, and I don't know if others can join in that mode. In coop there is no start button which means it needs to start with 2 players which is a bummer. If some one wanted to join later and play, it makes it hard to do so. You'd have to quit your progress and leave and then start a coop match.

There are some mild issues with bullets going through enemies and not knocking them down. You can see them take the hit, reach for the area that took a bullet and move on like nothing happened. Some bullets will pass right through them and it some times registers as a miss. I'd say about one in ten enemies thgis may happen to, and it's not a big deal unless your down to your last ammo clip.

I don't like how the guns are reduced in ammo capacity on more difficult levels. On cadet your allowed to have 100 bullets. Its only 30 on Marksman which is the 2nd hardest difficulty. If anything it should be backwards, make the easy game go out more for ammo making them take more risks while the harder the game gets, you can have more ammo, up to 100, if you can find it.

The AI gets smarter as the difficulty increases. In Kill Tally and the missions, they seem almost comical and somewhat drunk or on something else. I have been humbled a bit on Sniper Elite when I set a trip mine on a door and heard it go off, I see two bodies on the floor, but get bum rushed by 4 more. Some missions have timers, but won't activate unless you are really close to the objective. I simply stay away and pick off as many enemies as I can and search buildings for ammo caches. The good thing is, if you are able to crawl into a higher level, the enemy typically will not. They like to use doors, stairs or long distances to try to take you out.

Over all, so far not too bad. I just have to convince my coop partner to get out of her comfort zone and continue to play this game.

Great remaster of a great game, but it's kinda short (I didn't rush anything and I was able to play through it in ~8h)

Sadly nobody plays the multiplayer so it's not possible to get the mp achievements

really looked forward to playing this with better visuals but mostly to see the game mechanics fixed, the clunky character movement, the pain in the ass camera positioning, bullets going through enemies without any damage, scratchy sound, god awful AI ... enemies suddenly becoming aware of very well hidden bodies even when they are well out of sight... leaving you saying OHH come on.... a lot.... the bullets in bullet time coming out of the rifle way out of position of the muzzle ...and the worst is when crouched and moving , if you gently sneek off anything higher than a leaf it makes and enormous THUD alerting enemies ... after an hour all i wanted to do was uninstall, it was that frustrating.

i hope they patch the game play, getting stuck on objects, corners, scenery etc, cant go prone in many places, can be seen through walls etc, bad guys become aware for no reason, bad guys walk into fires then die then everyone comes looking for you... snipers are glitching in last levels, 3 welrod bullets to shoot out 1 lamp... really... rocks cant break lamps or lights, a lot of the german guys have different ranks but the same uniforms, exactly what does remasterd mean?... gave the visuals a polish is my guess.

Not worth it in my opinion. I bought the upgrade for my old version. WHen I saw it was a whole complete edition I was hoping for a lot of improvements. Guess if you just play 1080p there is no difference in graphic fidelity.And the only bug that got fixed was the loud intro movie. All the other bugs (collisions, weird aim sensitivities, useless secondaries, ...) are still present. On top of that I got those useless DLC's too.

Not a review of the Remaster since its barely a remaster. Pretty great game, Linear unlike later games in the series. Xray KillCam is gory and awesome. Story is alright, nothing too crazy. Definitely recommended when on sale.

My only issue is that this is a remaster and you completely missed the opportunity to 1: make bushes and plants count as concealment (or have bushes indicate they could be hidden behind by having them be noticeably thicker with leaves or something) and 2. go a little further with the sound mechanics. My first time playing the original version of this game I thought it mattered what secondary you used since it let you pick. I thought using the same weapon as whatever enemy you were facing would help conceal your location in the event you had to shoot someone with it or that if you used it AI would assume it was one of them. Obviously thats not the case, but seeing the remaster I hope theyd at least changed a few things besides the visual quality which isnt even noticeable compared to the original unless you turn the settings to like Ultra High or whatever. Maybe they did better with 4, but 3 was basically exactly like this game.

It ended up being the same game with updated graphics and all the DLC included. If you're buying it new, sure, get it on sale. If you're buying the upgrade from the old sniper elite 2...dont. Its just a whole new set of the exact same achievemnts for the exact same game.

I have played all of the Sniper Elite games through multiple times, and I have to say, this is not worth it. Sure, all of the DLC is there, and the textures are updated, but there are just not enough improvements to justify it. When I first heard of the remaster, I hoped it would mean porting SE2's klutzy controls into 3 & 4's vastly improved engine. The cover system is still incredibly clumsy, enemies have bizzare detection range, and the controls still feel stiff. Save your 10 (or 35) bucks and get one of the newer games - or even just the original SE2 for cheaper.

It's a waste of time and money.

From a remastered version i expected more than just better graphics. Everything is the same. Lousy interface (compared to se 3 and 4). All the missions are exactly the same.

if you value your money then don't be stupid in buying the remastered version for 10 euro's or 40 euro's.

I have played hours of SE 3 and SE 4 and have been waiting for SE 5 to come out....in the end I so much needed an SE fix that I got SE 2 Remastered. Initially I didn't like it - compared to SE 4 and SE 3 it feels clunky and prescriptive. There is also the ridiculous opening sequence where you have to cross the road and I kept getting spotted and having to restart. I nearly gave up, thinking is this how this whole game is going to be? However, I've settled into it now and it's actually quite good. Plus the missions can be tough - you can get killed very quickly if you don't watch yourself. I got it cheaper by buying a PC key on one of these online key sites and then upgrading to Remastered on Steam - cost me around £11 all in. I am quite enjoying SE 2 Remastered now, and maybe it will tide me over until SE 5 appears....

I've finished all of the Sniper Elite games, some more than once. I finished V2 back when it was the latest installment, and haven't played it since. I recently finished Sniper Elite 4, and decided to pick-up this Remastered version of V2. It seems that V2 Remastered looks quite a bit like 4, which is a good thing, it's very pretty. But, the gameplay is much more stiff, you don't have nearly as many paths and options as 4. The enemy AI in this game is somewhat unrealistic, as they spot you nearly instantly, even when hiding in the dark. Playing stealthy is much more difficult than in 4. Aside from these issues, the game is still a very fun game to play, and I highly recommend it.

Recommended only for fans of the Sniper Elite series, since SE3 and 4 are better and more realistic (at high difficulty levels). However, SE V2 Remastered is still a solid classic sniper game if you can't have enough sniping action and stealth.

I own and have completed SE2 (original), SE3, and SE4 on Steam. I love the series. But I can't recommend SE2 Remastered unless you get it at a large discount and have not yet owned/played SE2 original. The only reason I bought SE2 Remastered is because Rebellion gave series owners a discount. I thought there would be a large improvement in the game. But, there isn't. Are the graphics better? Yes, in some small ways. Is the game improved? No, and that's the biggest disappointment. You can't skip cutscenes. You can't disable (can only reduce) X-ray kill cam. SE3 and SE4 let you do this, so these features could have been added. Weird glitches occur - I was once halfway through a map, placed a mine, and then couldn't shoot any of my guns, so I had to restart. The maps still contain weird obstacles - you think you can walk over/past something, but your character is bumping into/stuck on something. Maps in SE3 and SE4 are much, much smoother and cleaner. Multiplayer in SE2 Remastered died out very quickly, probably because no one really wants to play it. The SE4 multiplayer scene is still so much more active. So, buy SE2 Remastered only if this is your first version of SE2 and you want to experience the story. And if you want 100% achievement completion, you will need to look for partners on the Discussion board. Or, you can skip SE2 and go straight to SE4.
