Positiv:
- Liebevoll gestaltete Open-World
- Wenig Schußwaffen
- Gute Grafik
- Schöner Sound
- Spannende Story
- Viele Nebenaufgaben
- Gute Steuerung
Negativ:
- 100% Errungenschaften können nur mit DLC geschafft werden
- DLC sind in Deutschland nicht erhältlich
Fazit:
Empfehlenswert!!!!

But then the Story and the Side Quests, just are so exciting. There are also Streetchases where you can jump during the drive to another car! The chases also got me very well! Then the hacking system, it is not a hacking game like Watch Dogs, but a cool detail anyway!
The different fighting styles, man, they are really good!
I bought this game for about 3 Euros. Totally worth it!

Great Story, awesome fighting mechanics, nice looks and much more. Just a super underated Masterpiece that deserved so much more attention than it got.
Ofcourse the game had its flaws but tell me one game that has none.
Sad that we wont be able to play a Sequel of the game because of the game not selling as many times as square enix wouldve liked...

Firstly it looks absolutely amazing for an older game, I was really impressed with the density and detail of the open world. We’re enough years behind the release now where most people will be able top run this on the higher or max settings, and boy is it pretty. The character models let the side down a bit as they look last gen, well because they are, but the city itself is really pretty to look at.
Gameplay is a mix of hand to hand combat, parkour, shooting and driving, with a smattering of minigames for hacking.
Mostly these stand up, although they’re starting to show their age a little bit, the hand to hand combat can be a bit stilted as it sews together the frames between movements which can break immersion as you go from enemy to enemy. It’s not a deal breaker, but you’ll definitely notice it if you’ve played more modern games with this sort of combat.
The parkour is good, although it’s outshone by more recent games.I don’t feel like it ever let me down or misguided me throughout my time playing, although I did find it odd that the levels seemed really oddly designed around water, where you could get into the water, but not easily get out.
Shooting is fine, it’s nothing special, you’re going to be doing it so infrequently that it’s sort of inoffensive. It’s not what this game is about. Even if you hated the shooting in this game it’s so sporadic that it's hard to get mad at.
Driving is easily the worst part of the game, the handling model is kind of odd in that it’s very arcadey, but it doesn’t feel as nice as say something like GTA where even when the cars go out of control you have some semblance of control over them. Vehicles here snap to spins and generally misbehave in ways that are idiosyncratic to Sleeping Dogs. I’m not a fan of it personally.
While we’re on the topic of driving, I’d like to talk about the GPS in this game. I can’t quite place what I don’t like about this GPS, but it’s rudimentary at best. It’ll often send you through really awkward areas or make you drive a long way around when there’s no need to. It might be just me, but the whole system feels “off” in a way I can’t quite put into words.
The hacking games are what you’d expect from hacking games, although thankfully you’re not doing lots of them back to back so they don’t outstay their welcome. They’re varied enough to stay fresh, with a lot of them being opt in, there’s very few times you;’re forced into doing them.
The story is your typical undercover cop hokum. It drives you from one end of the game to the other playing off the gangs and cops against each other until culmination. It’s certainly not going to win any awards for storytelling, but that’s OK, not everything has to be an epic.
There’s plenty of collectables and things to level up as you continue through your game, some more important than others. The health shrines are the ones you want to be hitting up, you do get experience from doing cop, face and triad jobs, but the perks from these trees might as well not exist, I found that there’s barely an impact on the game when you do unlock these perks, so don’t go out of your way to grind these jobs with a hope that you’ll get a game changing experience, because you won’t.
What will change the gameplay is the various jade statues you find, usually dotted around in missions for you to pick up. These are vitally important to progress as they allow you to learn new techniques at the dojo, any improvements and moves to your hand to hand skills makes for more variation and also allows you to deal with specific enemies that can be a pain if you don’t have moves to swat them down.
Other things I like in this game are the buffs you can get from food, even now I think it’s a novel concept to get bonuses from food in games like this, and the small talk or sales pitch you get from these street vendors will stick with you while you play.
Another really nice quality of life feature that I wish was in every game like this is that you can control the volume of the in-car radio without having to go through obtrusive menus, it’s just a simple button hold to turn up or down tracks you like. This should be an industry standard.
Speaking of which, there’s a nice selection of songs on the radio. It’s not all huge hits, but the ones they have fit the theme of the game well enough and don’t play so often that they get on your nerves because you heard them so much.
In conclusion, I think Sleeping Dogs, even though it is getting long in the tooth, still has more rights than wrongs. If you’re looking for an open world game it’d be quite far down the pecking order now, but it is a game I don’t think should be dismissed as the parts it does well are still at a level where they can be enjoyed by people today.

As Wei Shen, an undercover cop trying to take down the Triads, you'll have to fight your way up the organization without blowing your cover because you're an Undercover Cop between a bunch of Gangsters and Triads
For me Sleeping Dogs was a complete surprise. 9/10 Story, 10/10 AMAZING Graphics (For its time (2012) obviously), 10/10 Gameplay, StreetFighter-like Combat, Overall 9.5/10. Since the German Version (I played) is cut - I used an uncut patch + bought all DLCs seperately.
I personally loved the storyline; this can be viewed as an Asian version of GTA with much improvements. The city size is comparable to GTAIV, and is busily packed as expected in Hong Kong. More importantly, this game felt REAL. Although a variety of firearms can be had, the fighting is primarily combat based; Brawling. Although you ultimately unlock all character abilities for the 3 categories (police, triad, respect) by leveling up with experience gained from missions, special combat moves can only be unlocked by finding hidden statues delivered to this master guru. If you have ever played Batman Arkham (Asylum or City), this is a much more refined and developed fighting system. You must respond swiftly to counter attack, or utilize the environment for awesome finishing moves. (smash head repeated with car door or refridgerator, smash them into a dumpster, or telephone booth.. so many more!) You are also able to open trunks of cars to search for weapons like a tire iron, knife, or pistol. All of these aspects seem very fitting and realistic; No, you wont be able to cycle through all 8 weapons you are carrying, or customize your car beyond its paint job, but you can get some 'asian massages' which always help ;).

The story line is terrific. Nonetheless, I felt invested with Wei Shen, which I think is cornerstone to a good gaming experience. As an undercover cop / asian triad gangster... my number one challenge was driving on the left side of the road. I'm 20 Hours in and still drive the wrong lane by accident sometimes :D.
Anyways, the graphics are AMAZING. And the atmosphere of the City makes you feel 'in the zone'. At 20hrs, I completed the main story line and also most of the side stories, missions. Obviously you can finish the game much faster, but I really enjoyed the environment and took my time and will also do 100% + all DLCs.
The final thing that is a great feature of the game is the driving on the whole. It is far superior to Saints Row 2 and GTA4, as it is a lovely balance between realism and damn right insanity. The driver is definitely enhanced by the unique Radio stations that give it a more Hong Kong like experience e.g. the song Yellow Fever. This is particularly the case with action hijacks where you fling yourself onto cars and then clamber into the driver seat. Such driving is enhanced via the use of chase sequences with guns while driving, where you get to shoot out the tires of enemies etc. This is again a better feature of the game when compared to Saints Row and GTA (where the shooting while driving is less dramatic).
I will definitely add on some more hours of play to finish 100% + DLCs. Overall, Sleeping Dogs did an excellent job recreating HongKong, the bright vibrant atmosphere, and keeping me vested and engaged with the antagonist. The Graphics were Amazing (rainfall?! city night lights reflecting from my kick-ass car wax-job?!) Gameplay was very engaging and precise; it was like gangster. Don't Miss this Game - i was sitting on this for WAY TOO LONG

TL;DR:
PROS:
+Great car and foot chase sequences that are a nice addition to the open world genre.
+Nice use of RPG elements, through upgrading Wei (the main character).
+Well executed melee combat system which while being too simple/easy, is a lot of fun and demonstrates originality within the game.
+Interesting story, particularly through the use of cut scenes that are cinematic and demonstrate Wei conflicts.
+Great voice acting
+Good variety of side activities like Camera hacking, racing (which is better here than in GTA 4), fighting etc.
CONS:
-Some of the activities are not well polished like karaoke (which amounts to an easy matching game, with too few songs to choice from [8 in total]).
-The story is too predictable and unfortunately lacks choice reducing replay ability.
-The gun fights are too easy as the enemy A.I isn’t great.

YANOGA REVIEW
GRAPHICS - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
''Sleeping Dogs'' world is incredible! Hong Kong feels living/realistic and still looks amazing for his age. Some weird animations and minor bugs makes this game kind of silly and ''unpolished'' but in the end it's still a beautiful & atmosperic journey. (Turn down AA-Grapics, because this really pushes down your FPS. After that I've got smooth 144Fps)
MUSIC - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
A mix of traditional asian/chinese music and different radios with Rap, Classic and Folk-Music. Some songs are kind of weird but the most of the soundtrack is quite good.
STORY - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
You're playing Wei Shen an undercover cop making his way up in the traids to destroy the organisation and fulfill your revenge. But friends, loyalty and living in this organisation will change Shen's view on everything..
A brilliant story! It starts slow but really unfolds after a couple of hours. Interessting characters,a well made protaganist with development, surpising plot-twists and a stunning ending make this game a god damn gem.
GAMEPLAY - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
Imagine GTA but instead of shooting down people in USA you're fighting MMA-Style in Hong Kong. The fighting mechanic is well made and when there are gunfights they feel really special. Also various minigames in mainquest gives a good diversity on gameplay. The side-missions where kind of boring so I decided really quick to focus on the Mainstory.
WORTH BUYING - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Yes! If you like any sort of storydriven Open-World Action Games you should check ''Sleeping Dogs'' out. In my opinion this game is on the same level as GTA4 or other Triple-A games. The story was even more addicting and the whole game was a sheer pleasure! If you can get this game for under 10€ it's a No-Brainer.
LENGTH : 12 Hours for Campaign
BUGS : Some, No Game Breaking
PRICE : Paid 5€

Basically Asian GTA. I really enjoyed this.
The German version is a travesty: Heavily censored and you can´t even play the DLC.
I don´t understand why a game needs to be censored this much even though none other than 18+ adults are allowed to buy it anyways? Because German adults can´t handle gore?
Also, a lot of bugs were not fixed in the censored German version.

I never played Sleeping Dogs before, but when I started it out of curiosity I couldn't stop playing it until I finished the main story.
Pros:
- Still good graphics
- Beautiful Asian setting
- Nice story
- Better driving physics than Cyberpunk 2077
- Martial arts fights
- Funny bugs (not game-breaking, just funny)
Cons:
- No Sleeping Dogs 2 incoming yet :(
I still recommend this game to everyone who likes a mix of Shenmue, GTA and Yakuza.

It is written that I played 8 hours, but I am currently doing the game for the third time.
The story is very good, a real thriller in the world of the Triads, reminding the Hong-Kong old movies.
Talking about HK, the city is alive, well detailed and enough to feel that we are there. I went to the real HK because of this game.
I am still waiting for a Sleeping Dog 2. Very sad that Triad Wars did not work...

There are some plot points and world details that are immersion-breaking (how do some of the vendors recognize you in both police uniform and street clothes, but mobsters don't?) but that's not the point of this game. It's just pure fun, and it's a shame we'll never get a sequel.

This game is cool. I wish it got more attention. It feels better to play than something like the Arkham games. Yes, I went there. The combat system in this game is more fluid, strategic, and fun than the Batman Rocksteady games. Hands down. The story is awesome from beginning to end.
I cannot believe that the studio that made this game shut down. I know we were going to get some sort of online game. I wasn't too interested in that. I just wanted another adventure...but they died making it. Fuck Square-Enix. BUY THIS GAME.

I played this game back in 2012/2013 soon after release and i liked it a lot.
Time passed and when i got it via humble, i was not really into it. But a few days ago i started it up again, and i know why i liked it back then.
Nice size of open world, bikes, free runing, martial arts and two seperate story lines.
Personally i always check for achievements and try to get the 100% and that's exactly where it hit me.
Although all achievements are listed in my version, so also the ones from Nightmare in North Point and Year of the snake.
Neither of those contents are playable for me because of this special german version.
That on one hand is sad, but not in the hand of steam (maybe in the hand of square enix?). But what grinds my gears is the fact that is not at all possible to finish this game achievement-wise, which would be possible if steam handeld it as the thing it is, a standalone game without this content included.
So after 28 hours, some where fun, some where grind-heavy for the achievements, i deinstalled the game after finishing the story.
So if you look for an open world, rpg, 3rd-person, martial arts GTA & you dont live in germany, go ahead.
But if you are from germany, and are trying to reach 100% with your games, dodge this bullet
