Mit Silent Hunter 5 kehrt die führende U-Boot-Simulation endlich zurück. Zum allerersten Mal kann der Spieler als U-Boot-Kommandant seine Mannschaft aus der Ego-Perspektive durch eine dynamische Kampagne führen. In den Weiten des Atlantiks und des Mittelmeers geht er gegen die Flotte der Alliierten vor.

Zum ersten Mal kann der Spieler sich aus der Ego-Perspektive durch ein bis ins letzte Detail nachempfundenes U-Boot bewegen und jeden Teil des Innenbereichs und des Außendecks seines Schiffes betreten.
Mithilfe des verbesserten Befehlssystems kann der Spieler mit seiner Mannschaft interagieren, sie bei ihren täglichen Arbeitsvorgängen beobachten und die Anspannung an Bord eines U-Boots nachempfinden.
Die durch das Erfüllen von Missionszielen vorangetriebene, dynamische Kampagne erlaubt es dem Spieler, seine persönliche Strategie frei auszuwählen.
Die Entscheidungen und Handlungen des Spielers haben einen direkten Einfluss auf den Ausgang der Seeschlachten und die weitere Entwicklung des Szenarios innerhalb der Kampagne. Je nach Vorgehensweise kann er neue Gebiete freischalten, in denen er sein Boot aufrüsten und neu bestücken kann. Währenddessen passen die Alliierten ihre Reaktionen auf den Spieler dynamisch an.
Eine brandneue Benutzeroberfläche, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Verständlichkeit, wird auch Anfängern dabei helfen, ein U-Boot zu kommandieren. Im Expertenmodus können fortgeschrittene Spieler wiederum - ausgestattet mit notwendigen Informationen und Kontrollmöglichkeiten - das U-Boot völlig selbstständig steuern.
Höchst detaillierte und authentisch dargestellte U-Boote und Schlachtschiffe ziehen in Verbindung mit einer verbesserten Umgebungsgrafik den Spieler in den Bann.

Ich habe das Spiel die Tage als collection gekauft, danach habe ich es installiert und versucht zu Starten leider vergeblich.
es kommt eine ubisoft Meldung das nach updates gesucht wird und dann kommt direkt ein banner wo drauf steht versuchen sie es später noch mal. total der reinfall!!!

Ich habe kürzlich Silent Hunter 5 gekauft. Nach der Installation startet das Spiel nicht. Ubisoft sucht immer am Anfang nach Updates und kurze Zeit erscheint ein Fenster mit dem Hinweis: Dieser Dienst ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar.

Weiß nicht weiter.

Das Spiel Silent Hunter 5 ist ein sehr gutes Spiel, da ich es vor vielen Jahren spielte. Kaufte es hier im Sale bei Steam noch einmal und muss leider feststellen, dass das Spiel nicht unter Windows 10 läuft und auch nicht zum laufen gebracht wird, indem man Windows XP Servicepack 3 einstellt usw. Deshalb gibt es keine Kaufempfehlung von mir.

Nach mehrmaligen Versuchen kann ich das spiel nicht starten. Ständig kommt der Hinweis das UBISOFT zur Zeit nicht verfügbar ist und das ich zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt noch mal versuchen soll. Wo liegt das Problem ?

Es ist schon traurig das man diesen Bug nicht rauspatched. Im Karriere-Modus werden die versenkte Tonnage nicht gezählt und mann kommt im spiel deshalb auch nicht weiter.

Alle missionen die ich versuche zu erledigen werden nicht gezehlt ich liebe solche u boot spiele aber möchte sie auch spielen können und sie funktioniert überhaupt nicht am anfang hat die erste mission sogar noch gezehlt doch die 2 hat schon nicht mehr gezehl und das ist jetzt immer so und da ich weiß das Ubisoft sowieso nichts fixen wird werde ich das spiel aufgeben! An alle die ein U boot spiel suchen das funktioniert kauft euch Uboat das geht so eigentlich ganz gut!

So ein schlechtes Spiel !!! schlechte Grafik, schlechte Steuerung, komplizierte und fehlerhafte Missionen. Eine echte Schande !!! Teil 3 ist viel besser

The game still plays .. it is still supported. Those saying it is not, never bothered to check with UBisoft. I re installed the game on a new PC, but u need to have logged into Ubisoft under the same email address as u first registered with on UBisoft. If you have changed your Ubisoft log in, over the years, it won't play after re instalation until u log in with your old email address/log in. The people writing the negative reviews about the never ending update check, and unable to connect to Ubisoft message,( which also happend to me) never bothered to contact Ubisoft before they started slagging it off. Ubisoft's help chat line sorted this out for me promptly.

This game is terribly broken. Often, for no apparent reason, no credit is given in missions for ships sunk, making it impossible to meet goals and advance. This is very frustrating. You end up with nothing to show for the time invested in the game.

Buggy, unfinished, disfunctional mess. Without modding, you can't even finish side missions because the tonnage bar and other objectives don't update.

Overall, quality you can expect of Ubisoft.

Bugs mean the game is almost unplayable. The user interface, particularly in port, is not at all obvious and not documented in the manual, the first mission is extremely hard to complete due to bugs meaning that objectives are not recognised when completed and the stadimeter is horrendously inaccurate making targeting very difficult.

Though I do like the game, it is impossible to actually play it. Played for over 4 hours and everytime I returned from a patrol my ship would teleport into the middle of Germany and I would need to retry

Took awhile before I figured you need to download Ubisoft Connect and sync to play this game (from steam), otherwise it will just not open. Been playing this series since Silent Hunter III and am totally loving it. Silent Hunter V has better graphics, better navigating system on the map and interaction with crews. I suppose it gets better with the TWOS-MOD. Still plays great without the MODS imho.

I played this game many hours, way more than steam lets on... I would recommend this game, but the ubisoft connect launcher break the game every few week and you have to waste hours to try to fix it to keep playing. so fuck ubisoft I guess.

DO NOT BUY as it will not play other then a message cannot connect to ubisoft 6 hrs i left on screen and they say thats game play without it the game wont play but if you leave the message running in back ground it represents game play.
i get more intelligent answers from a brick

Mods.

The only way to play this game is with mods. Simply put, without mods, it's a disaster. Would I've picked this over SH3 or 4, without mods? No.

It was an abandoned game that was picked up by modders and they finished the game. They've achieved playable versions with different mods, that are really worth trying in MHO.

I've been wary of owning this game (at any price) for years -- the unfinished, vanilla version of SH5 is indeed broken, BUT it's really fun to play and well worth the purchase if you hop onto Subsim.com and install The Wolves of Steel mega mod. Works well on Steam and the modding community at Subsim is very supportive. Just remember to download Uplay (free) at Ubisoft and follow the instructions for installing the TWoS mod TO THE LETTER.

Since many recent reviews say they can't launch to game because of Ubisoft issues I feel forced to post my experience.

I can run the game fine on Windows 10. I have Ubisoft Connect installed and a working account there. No issues what so ever. Just played one of the Historical Missions. No crash nothing.

I do not know if the game is good or bad. But it is working!

I installed this game two days ago, but am unable to play it because Ubisoft is unavailable to do updates, and the game stalls at that point. Unable to get answers from Steam. Total waste of time and money. Avoid Ubisoft like the plague.

This game requires mods to be enjoyable but once you install The Wolves of Steel mod (from subsim dot com) it probably becomes the best Silent Hunter game. SH3 with GWX 3.0 is a very close runner-up and only falters because of the ageing graphics.

TL:DR from a 15 year Silent Hunter 3 veteran:
-Skipped vanilla and went straight for The Wolves Of Steel mod.
Game might be up your alley if you like to fiddle around and get things exactly how you want them the hard way but it's a fight and like me, you might not have the patience to spend time fixing Ubisofts mistakes.
I'm going back to Silent Hunter 3.

-Game has improvements over SH3 like graphics and crew interactions but many things have been made worse like the UI and all the keyboard shortcuts however to set controls to SH3 ones you need a mod which if you like WASD movement still isn't good enough since it uses the arrow keys.
-Most issues can be fixed with mods but many mods are very complex like NewUIs with TDC for SH5 by TheDarkWraith version 7.4.2 , I'm well able to fiddle around with this stuff and get it to a point where I'd be happy but I don't have the patience to mess around with that when I just want an idiot proof slap it together and boom it works solution.
-Crew animations are somewhat janky like for example, always climbing ladders at a 90 degree angle from what looks normal.(BIG sin considering Ubisoft had amazing animations in 2 Assassins Creed games prior to SH5's release.)

Suffice it to say there's enough issues that I'm going back to the tried and true Silent Hunter 3. I've never played Silent Hunter 4 but Americans measuring depth in feet instead of proper meters like everyone else is a no from me here in Ireland.

I bought this game in a package deal. When you start the game, it states that it needs to update. However, there is no update because it can not connect to the servers. It says to try again later, which I have and same thing, unable to connect to servers. So I have yet to play the game. It is bad service for steam to continue to advertise this game.

Terrible and forceful integration with uPlay makes impossible to install mods (including The Wolves of Steel mega-modpack) necessary to fix hundreds of game breaking bugs such as: Co2 increasing while surfaced, magnetic pistol not working, broken morale/fatigue, and hundreds more.
Don't waste your money on this edition, but rather find a DRM free edition that you can successfully mod. Needless to say, don’t even bother with the Vanilla edition as it’s completely broken.

With The Wolves of Steel mod this becomes the definitive submarine sim. Functioning Enigma machine, a host a theatre considerations like whether or not to use the radio off the UK coastline, ai adjustments and more. A big thumbs up for a highly immersive well modded experience.

Too many issues to list. The F5 thrugh F11 keys do nothing when playing the game which is a big problem when you want to do things like man the deck guns or overcharge the batteries for extended under water time. Shame that this game has died and nothing on the horizon to replace it. I wouldnt download this game even if it was free.

i need help anyone.... can the steam version of this game be modified? im having issues with the tonnage bar when doing british coastal waters mission. ispend hours hunting and stalking ships and it it doesnt even count...i cant progress in the game.

More bugs than a roach motel, and more crashes than a demolition derby. Maybe it's too old for the new computer I'm using, creating compatibility issues. But between this, substandard training missions, and an overly tedious & complex way of talking to the crew, it's a disappointment.

The whole game just feels unfinished, way too many bugs, one of the worst is the fact that you can't get past the first chapter of the game for not having enough GRT of ships sunk, only you have, but the game can't register it for some reason.

I suppose mods could fix many of the issues with bugs, I still say look elsewhere, there are better subsims out there.

Having played this game for over 60 hrs total and having recently played again after a 5 year hiatus, I would call this game now unplayable due to the merchant tonnage bug, where merchant ships sunk, do not add to you mission total when sunk in the patrol area. Multiple trips back and forth from your base to the patrol area for no reward is infuriating. You should not have to mod a game to make it playable.

So I have played this game for almost 100 hours and have never once been able to finish it. It almost is always ruined by some bug or glitch or something. Most of the time I'll end up going back and re-playing a section because of some crash. To add on to that when it crashes you can't simply close it, it often forces you to either log out or completely restart.
It has potential but honestly the bugs and glitches make it a terrible game. I've tried it with and without mods, still the same result.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS GAME.
Yes I know this is a late review but for those who ever find it for cheap and want to try it, i don't recommend it.

Took out all the things that worked well in SH3 and added many great new features that however make the game tedious and do not allow to focus on the actual battles. No quick way to do most things that have nothing to do with the search for enemy shipping.

I've played hundreds of hours of submarine sims. After reading and consulting the manual and giving SH5 the benefit of the doubt...I can't recommend it. Never have I rage-quit a sub-sim...until I played SH5, that is. Why would the devs make a game, such as SH5, that is the polar opposite to what they got right with Silent Hunter 3? The game just doesn't work for me. I wish it did, as I was really wanting to sink some ships, but couldn't find my Officer that was in charge of determining the firing solution of the torpedoes. He simply was not on the boat!

The game itself is very good. My problem is with Ubisoft. You need to always connect to ubisoft to play this game as well as download the ubisoft uplay app which is BS. The game hardly ever connects to ubisoft so you can't even play the game.

For those of you who want to buy this game, but have seen all the reviews saying it doesn't work --LISTEN UP--

This game DOES work, but you just need to install uPlay in order to make it run. That's it. There's no complex file editing to be done here. All in all, it's a good game albeit with a bit learning curve.

It doesn't work! Ubisoft unavailable to solve the problem, don't buy it no matter what patches you can get from other sites. Unfortunately it only worked for a while, it was good while it lasted...!

Note to people who are on the fence about buying this game. You will not be able to play this game at all without jumping through a lot of hoops. Including the need to download mods to even launch the game. These games are awesome once you get through the hassle, but because of ubisofts love of always online BS, you have to log into non existent services to play this game. And because of the lack of support for this game you will be stuck at a screen that says to try again later, no matter how many times you try.

If you still feel the need for sub fun, there are many threads in the forums for this game. All of them are very helpful. Please check them out, the community of sim style games are always great. The best fix to play this game is a mod, which improves the game in many ways, with the bonus of making it start when you want to play it.

if it wasn't for ubisofts love of always online (pirates will be hung, prove to me you are not a criminal) services that dont work for this game anymore, it would be a great game.

Disappointing.
Silent Hunter 5 is without doubt the most buggy software I have ever seen. There's so much that goes wrong with this game. I've spent as much time trying to work around the bugs, than I have playing. My time to uninstall was when I was playing for 14 hours yet another bug meant the game doesn't update my score and therefore impossible to pass my mission.
Software shouldn't be this bad. I'm amazed and disgusted that they still released this with so many blatantly obvious bugs.
Silent Hunter 3 ran ok on a much older computer but very dated graphics.

Bought the game through Steam, download went ok. When I try to play the game I get a screen saying looking for updates then get a message saying can't connect.
Very dissapointing.

Get The Wolves of Steel all-in-one modpack from the Subsim forums. Don't bother playing this game stock, it's not very good. With the mod pack, this becomes an ace of a submarine game

Ubisoft killed this franchise with this game. Not just because it was the test bed for always online play, but also because the Gameplay is inferior to it's predecessors. The only cool new feature is the ability to walk through the boat, but then you have a total of one or two boats to pick from. Game must be modded in order to get even close to SH4s much more feature complete gameplay. SH4 and SH3 with mods blow this game out of the water. Only good thing I can say about this game is the graphics are nice.

You buy through steam but steam will give you a key for UPLAY which is actually pure garbage, it does not work with Windows 10, and give you a lot of troubles, as all with Ubisoft involved. The game is fantastic, well, it was, now you cannot play anymore.

Don't bother wasting your money on this product, it says I have played this game for 3 hours and I guarantee you I haven't played it for 1 minute, every time I try to start the game I get a message that Ubisoft servers are unavailable at this time, try again later. So I cannot provide a review of this game or recommend it.

i just spent 10 fucking dollars for this game and spent two and a half hours downloading it and when it got done and installed on my computer it wont even let me play it cause it says that it needs updates off ubisoft.com but yet every time i try to download the updates it crashes so i want my fucking money back
