Achte auf deine Positionierung und setze die Umgebung zu deinem Vorteil ein, wenn du überleben willst. Setze alles ein, was dir zur Verfügung steht: Wurfobjekte, provisorische Waffen, Fenster und Vorsprünge … Die Welt hat sich gegen dich verschworen und man wird dir keine Gnade zeigen.

One of the most challenging games that you'll ever play, and a love letter to the old school martial arts movies.

Sifu is a martial arts action game where you play as a young kung-fu student, a master of the Bak Mei martial art style, who is seeking revenge on the people who killed his master (aka Sifu). I already finished the game when it came out a year ago on EGS and played more than 25 hours, and tried out the new Arenas expansion as well. Needless to say this is an extremely difficult game and it is one of my favorites.
✔️ Fantastic and deep combat system that is easy to learn, but hard to master; you get points every time you defeat an enemy, which you can use to unlock more skills. You will die a lot in this game, so be patient and keep practicing now with the help a training mode.
✔️ Challenging fights and boss battles that are guaranteed to spike your adrenaline; aside from the tutorial there are only five levels, and it took me about 15 hours to finish all of them and defeat the final boss. You will engage in fast-paced fights against multiple enemies at once or just one overpowered boss that wipe the floor with you if you aren't careful.
✔️ Simple and straightforward storyline; you play as a young kung-fu student, a master of the Bak Mei martial art style, who is seeking revenge on the people who killed his master (aka Sifu). You can uncover more lore throughout the levels and by acquiring certain items from optional bosses and secret areas.
✔️ The aging mechanic is a unique idea that is a double edged sword; you grow older everytime you die, you will be stronger and deal more damage but your health bar will decrease.
✔️ Great visuals, with highly detailed environments and realistic combat animations that bring Bak Mei martial art style to life.
✔️ A free expansion that introduces Arenas, which offers more gameplay and opportunities to experience famous action movie scenes (The Matrix, The Raid, etc.)
✔️ The soundtrack is pretty good; it blends traditional Chinese instruments with modern electronic beats. You will love the disco level.

This is a great game and I can’t recommend it enough; it is one of the best (if not the best) martial arts games you will ever play and it is a must buy if you are seeking a challenge.

Despite the short amount of levels in the base game, they offer a staggering amount of replayability. The most obvious method is encouraging the player to perfect a level and complete it without dying, supported by the game's pendant mechanic (you age with each death). After beating the game, extra challenges are unlocked, together with various cheats/modifiers that either provide extra challenge or make the game more fun. The modifiers themselves provide opportunity for self-imposed challenges, like beating a level with one HP or with enemies being twice (or more) as strong.
The levels themselves are gorgeous, each with its own theme and unique aesthetic, serving the game both narratively and visually. The artists/designers did an excellent job making sure the game has a memorable look to it.
The soundtrack, composed by Howie Lee, while not especially strong on its own (only a couple tracks really stand out), nevertheless fits the game like a glove, pumping up the player for action and further reinforcing each level's aesthetic.
The recently added Arenas mode is also an excellent addition that tests the player's prowess and knowledge of the core systems/mechanics, adding extra hours of playtime.
