Von den Machern von Project Cars. Opisch ein geniales Spiel und es hat auch wirklich großartige Momente. Aber irgendwas stimmt mit den Autos nicht. Die sind einfach zu zappelig auf der Straße.
Project Cars ist dann doch die bessere Wahl.
Egal man kann es eh nicht mehr kaufen.

NFS Shift 2 ist ein sehr immersives und anspruchvolles Spiel, alleine wegen den cutscens, dem soundtrack und den GT1 Autos lohnt es sich, sich dieses zu kaufen.

Arcade Crash Derby.
Die KI fährt wie trotzige 8-jährige.Teilweise muss man Rennen 10 mal neu starten. Da helfen auch die Filmchen
mit US-Rennfahrern nicht.Shift 1 ist um Welten besser. Außerdem klingen die Autos wie Staubsauger. Das war im Vorgänger komischerweise auch besser.

Grafik recht Zeitlos.
Ein Spiel für Arcade/Sim Freunde.

update was ich sagen wollte nach dem einloggen in steam undwollte NFS 2 Unleasched starten hat hat das spiel kurzer hand aktuellesiert und das spiel lässt sich besser spielen als am Anfang nach dem Kauf

Shift 2 Unleashed ist der gelungene Nachfolger von Shift. Es wurde an manchen Stellen aufpoliert und verbessert, die Grafik wurde optimiert und der Sound, die Musik, die Steuerung und der Karrieremodus sind wie gewohnt von sehr guter Qualität. Die dargestellte Grafikqualität brachte mich in Verzückung, denn so schön hatte ich dieses Spiel nicht mehr in Erinnerung. (Damals gab es noch richtig gute Rennspiele von EA) Dieser Rennspiel Klassiker ist ein Hit und in jeder Rennspielsammlung ein Meisterwerk.

Sehr geiles Spiel.

Ich besitze auch die PS3 Version die ironischerweise weit schwieriger und optisch viel hässlicher ist.

Gafisch ist das Spiel top, es gibt Tuning ohne Ende, fordernde Rennen und durch XP sammeln einen hohen Wiederspielwert.

Hier die Pro`s:

- Top Grafik
- Geile Musik
- Tuning
- XP System

Leider auch einige (kleine) Kontras:

- Motorensounds typisch Rennspiel. (Ich fahre selber einen Lancer und ein Sportwagen klingt einfach nicht so, auch nicht mit 280 PS)
- KI zieht gerne in die eigene Bahn und macht ein überholen (fast) unmöglich.
- Tuning verändert unter mständen die Fahrzeugklasse, so das man eventuell bestimmte Rennen nicht fahren kann und sich erst wieder ein neuen schwächeren Wagen kaufen muss.

Fazit: Einfach eine tolle Kombi aus Need for Speed und Streckenracer !

Thee GREATEST Racing game of all time zero flaws a timeless CLASSIC. Such a Legendary game, from the cars to the tracks, the animations, settings, colors, and sounds theres not a single thing NOT perfect about this game! A true car fan game that doesnt need over the top feautures like games of today. I wish this game was more known.

Unskippable cutscenes before every career race, unskippable pre-race cutscenes, unskippable grid cutscenes, unskippable level-up sequences. Plus the hopeless DRM that makes the game fail to launch after a fresh install until you restart steam, be glad EA decided to delist it and shut down autolog (which still gets promoted via unskippable ingame cutscenes).

This is one of the best nfs games ever made. You will get angry at the maniacal driving of the bots and the handling system, but it feels satisfying to play and win races.

EA: The pinnacle of Incompetence decided to delist this game...so its now officially abandonware.
Since it uses Tages with just 5 activations (unless you remember to de-authorize). Just do this instead:

-Let it launch and authorize your PC
-Browse to game folder and run 'Authorize.exe'
-Deauthorize your PC and delete this nonsense.
-Download a crack from any site of your choice (I prefer gamecopyworld)
-Enjoy

I doubt this affects online in any way as I could still log onto Autolog. But since the servers are going down soon it doesn't matter

Carbon, Undercover, SHIFT, SHIFT 2 and The Run are and will always be better than the modern garbage EA provides. They might close the online servers but those games will always live with us.

Have been playing still today, using several mods for new cars and steering feel completely transforms this game from a snow driving simulator to a decent Gran-Turismo-lookalike, with thousands of cars and even better cars handling.

I love NFS games, not all of them, but I love them. But what EA has done with prices it's a shame. Not only new games from time to time are crap, but also the price tag is severely inflated on the old ones. Burn in hell EA.

This is the game that got me into more simulation orientated titles, therefore I will recommend it. Slightly Mad Studios went on to develop Project Cars and Project Cars 2 so if you are interested in the origins of those games this title may be interesting to you.

These days I mainly play Assetto Corsa but but look back fondly at the Need for Speed Shift series.

This game ia really a case if old but gold, because this game does a few things better than most modern racing games today, and the most noticable apart from an actual 1st person pov is the sense of speed, which is just fantastic.

This game has really grown on me in recent weeks. I am currently in the process of attempting to reach 100% career mode.
I was reluctant to buy this game at first. A lot of steam reviews claimed that it didn't work properly, or that you would be locked out or something if you didn't link with EA. The truth is that, yes, you do need an EA Origin account. I had already linked my accounts in the past, so this one was no problem. This game had been running on my Windows 10 gaming laptop with no problems whatsoever. This is an easy buy if you are interested in racing games, cars or professional motor sports. Be warned though: this game has more in common with Forza motorsport than it does with NFSMW or Carbon. This is NOT an arcade racer. If you're comfortable with that idea, than I would say go for it. The game functions on Windows 10 and features full controller support. I have experienced NO DRM problems so far.

Best project of Slightly Mad Studios of all time. Their next Project Cars series are good at driving physics but they are not that close to fun and exciting of driving as Shift do - all thanks to atmosphere soundtrack and dirty playing bots.

It's sad that EA don't give another shot to a sim racer for NFS, because honestly it's one of my favorites from them. You can customize plenty of things in the game, giving you the experience you want from a racing game.

It's a great game, but poorly made to the PC.

Besides that, go for it.

40-45 fps lock. That's it. I'm totally disappointed. To fix this you need to switch to Origin, add CD-key, download and play the game there. I tried this 'fix' but Origin told me that the key has been already redeemed, well, alright then, I'll just go download this on torrent, thx to EA.
I own previous game NFS:SHIFT, which was running flawless 120+ fps, but it had problems too (crashes randomly), but still - at least I could play it with smooth framerates.
Requested a refund.

The graphic and all is nice. It is a good game as well. Just that EA doesn't allow us to support up to more than 5 activation limit. So if you happen to go to a jet cafe and play this game with your friends more than 5 times, that's it. Game over you can't play it anymore. Good game, bad purchase ideas.

2JZ in AE86? C30A in S2000? Y4 in Supra MK4? Mix Gran Turismo, Forza and Top Gear from ten years ago and you have one of the most entertaining driving games there is.

The 4Y in Supra was a joke. There is no way Supra could handle that much power.

READ THIS THROUGH!!!! IMPORTANT!!!!!

This is more a hardcore race sim that requires you to work hard to get anything out of it. Almost wanna see if a wheel setup would help me here. This is a good game don't get me wrong, but you will need a lot of determination and reading up on actual race technique to fully grasp this game. It is HARD. It's meant to be HARD for the sake of hardcore REALISM. You will need to know how certain upgrades affect your car, you will get into many accidents easily, and you will find the slightest spot of dirt can ruin a lap. I'm screaming sometimes trying, but it's blood sweat and tears that you use to earn podiums.

Shift 2 , for me one of the best need for speed games , all this reviews that is not working properly and you cannot play this on steam etc etc etc... is not true , i simply downloaded the game , install it and click play :) and its working properly , optimisation could be better , but its old game , still graphics is nice , carrer mode is pretty good in my opinion , car selection is nice , customization is awesome , pretty much you can buy seat leon and make it proper race car with 400+ hrs power.
i would give 8.5/10 rating
If you like semi arcade racing games , this is for you , and remember , this game WORKS on steam properly.

its a clear yes cause it is the only track racer i loved as a child and now as an adult, but that doesnt mean there are no problems...

Pro's are hard to say really cause i cant list it, its a feeling not something you can just check off

Cons: now there are multiple but not game breaking
the cons i am listing are more bug related.
the sound bugs out alot and doesnt sound always that smooth
it has some crash problems aswell.
sometimes an iffy framerate but thats okay in my opinion its rarely sub 40fps

Besides all that, its still a fun game

Unless you have a very high end PC, don't buy this! This is an extremely poor PC port and it will seriously struggle to run consistently at 60+ fps despite being almost a decade old. You're better off sticking with the original Shift.

DO NOT BUY THIS: Unless, when you do, you immediately use the CD key and redeem it on the Origin store. I am still recommending this because it runs PERFECT via Origin, and is still a fantastic sim-cade racer. For steam, all setting medium, I got a mere 30 FPS. On Origin, all settings MAX, I got 60 FPS smooth. It does not matter whether this is due to ignorance, or malice on EA’s part, it’s just a reality for some PC's. Try it first on steam, if it works, great. If it is struggling a bit, redeem the key on Origin. I hate Origin so this is not a plug. Best of luck!

For me this game is one of the best racing games to use with a wheel, it's realistic by not overly realistic. The graphics are still quite nice for a 2011 game too. Also lots of cars, tracks, and customization options.

There were a few speed bumps, but once you get it working with a wheel, OH MAN. Controllers don't do this game justice. The modding community is still active, too, so that's a bonus.

Great car list, all my personal favorites, but honestly, that's about all it's got going for it. Shift 1 was a better game. No real car building, or any point to upgrading your cars past flywheel and gearbox for a bit more precision in shifts. In any given race, opponent cars will be scaled to match yours; there's no actual depth within the classes...think stock car racing but with GT cars, so then what exactly is the point? Shift 1 had kind of an interesting thing going with rewarding precision or aggressive driving; here only precision driving is rewarded. The catch-up mode is a bit bizarre because of this. You can actually catch guys while running worse lap times if you race cleaner, i.e. just go slower, and they're lap times will magically get worse even quicker than yours. The AI itself is really dated as well, and somehow worse than the one in Shift 1. It's that old, when they're off the screen, they run perfect laps, but if they're on the screen they'll crash out right in front of you, and blow your line. Just seems a bit sloppy and half-baked...like lets knock out a quick sequel for a cash grab.

Bought it, downloaded it, installed it, wanted to activate it, but was fairly disappointed to experience that the product activation tool would not connect, stating that I have no internet access, which is utter nonsense.

So my solution is to register the key and run the game via my Origin-account...
So the only reason for buying it on Steam is the price tag, which was 50% of the one on Origin...

I guess some political BS between Valve and EA is behind this - why not just take it off Steam then?

If you want a good need for speed game, this isn't it. Yes it is a wonderful racing game, but there's nothing about it that makes it need for speed, if you're looking for a good simcade this is the one I recommend.

Let's just say, it took some time to warm up to.

Given this game is quite old now, I suppose I'm writing this in a more reminiscent mood rather than recommendatory one. Never the less, Shift 2 Unleashed holds a special place in my heart, so here we are.

My first console game was NFS Underground on the PS2 and its arcade handling and customisation were what made it an experience that I would never forget. Many years and NFSs later, my uncle bought me Shift 2 Unleashed. Now, given my experience with NFS games coupled with a rather impatient age, I played the game for 30 minutes and, after crashing for 29 of those minutes, put the game on my shelf swearing never to touch it again.

Some time later, I finally picked up the dusty cover wedged between my collection of PS3 games, booted my console up and began what is one of the greatest racing games i've ever played. If you remember what made NFS underground so fun for me, you may be asking 'But isn't this game the complete opposite?' and your confusion is warranted but here is what made the game charming for me:

Its disregard for deep customisation and night-life completely threw me off. What I got instead, was a harsh racing simulator that punished me for power sliding at 300km/h (I wonder why), rewarded me for good racing lines (I alway though you'd just floor it through the corners up until this point) and praised me for respecting my opponents (Ok that's just ridiculous). It taught me focus and patience as well as got me interested in cars as a whole with its deep tuning options allowing me to change anything from breaking pressure to swapping an entire engine. I must say, the game's graphics still hold up till this day as well as the crash physics (I loved that as a kid).

After years of playing this game on PS3 and now PC, the skills I learned in NFS S2U bled over into every racing game I've played since. I suppose, at this point, many other games like Forza may have better and more interesting mechanics and graphics but I won't forget the game that allowed me to see the expressions on my friend's faces when they realise that I'm driving manual while keeping a racing line through a corner at 300km/h.

This game is absolute trash because it has a limit of activations... reinstall it a handful of times and it becomes absolutely unuseable and unplayable without cracking it... nomatter how good or bad this game is.. Hands...Off...

Nov 2021 update. The limits presented below may have been lifted. Unconfirmed.
I was able to reinstall this game today, without issue.
End of update.

Excellent game.

However.

EA's policy on 3 installs stops you playing it.
If you have to reinstall this game more than 3 times, you cannot continue to play without getting support from EA.
