+++ Level Design
+++ Puzzles/ Tombs (including the Co Op ones)
++ Weapons/ Abilities/ Skill Tree many ways to kill
++ New Game Plus/ never beeing to hard with right Weapons/ Upgrades/ enough Heal Items/ Skills/ Right Tactic
+ many Stuff to find 100 %/ some easy/ some hard/
+ 100 % Achievements doable/ Co Op Time/ Point Attack & only Bronze Level needed (did some Gold Single)
+ only 6 Trading Cards (not to much like 8-15)
- Game Length to short if you rush it on Easy, game is fast finished
- Paititi is biggest area, but there could be more big areals to discover/ no Open World
- more Weapon Upgrades for DLC weapons, sometime first weapon full Upgrades is the best
- no Chance to change the Story (not even rescueing Side Story Characters)
- many Costumes no effect / no single part select of most of the Costumes

Fazit
Tolles Tomb Raider Spiel, was seiner Linie treu bleibt.

Positiv:
- Wahnsinnig schönes Leveldesign
- Super Atmosphäre
- Tolle Charakter
- Super Story (wie in den Vorgängern ebenfalls)
- Viele Waffen/Outfits
- Abwechslungsreiche Gräber (DLC’s eingeschlossen)
- Interessante Nebenquests
Negativ:
- Nebenquestziele werden nicht immer korrekt angezeigt
- Karte stellenweise sehr „eigensinnig“
- Übergangspassagen (unter Baumstumpf drunter her klettern) manchmal unrealistisch und unnötig lang
- Charakterdesign stellenweise etwas plump
Shadow of the Tomb Raider ist absolut einzigartig m.M. nach.

Sehr schade, denn Shadow of the Tomb Raider hätte Potential gehabt.
Allerdings kann Lara weder in Rise of the TR noch in Shadow of the TR zwei Handfeuernwaffen gleichzeit bedienen. Warum?!
Schade. Shadow of the Tomb Raider hätte richtig gut werden können.

Welcome to the Jungle
After Lara's cold adventure in Siberia, she will go to explore the hot jungle in Brazil, visit the hidden city Paititi and meet local people. Trinity will not be missing here and will cause more trouble than before. Lara must save the world from the Maya apocalypse. She will become a true tomb raider.
As always Lara can't just land with a plane somewhere without problems. She, Jonah - her best friend and their pilot will crash somewhere in the jungle. There will everything start. You must gather your equipment and find Jonah and maybe the pilot as well. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider you don't start without tools. In the beginning, you have decent toys that will help you in your journey.
But don't worry crafting and finding resources are still in the game. Actually, there are more resources and more stuff to craft or upgrade. A new addition is clothing crafting which will grant you bonuses like finding more resources, protection from enemy fire, and so on. This aspect is noticeable better than in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Around the map, there are merchants where you can exchange resources for money and buy new weapons, improvements, ammo or resources.
Firearms in the game have better sounds compared to the previous Tomb Raiders from the trilogy. Shadow is more about exploring than shooting, but gunplay is the best in the whole trilogy here. Of course, it could be better because there are a lot of games that do it better but it's fine for Tomb Raider's needs.
The story is nothing special. It's fine. The map is big enough and offers a lot of secondary missions that will tell you more about local people and history. The game has many places and tombs waiting to explore. Overall 3rd part of the trilogy is more about exploring. Latter in-game you will unlock Overhang Climbing Gear, which is new to Trilogy. You will be able to climb upside down and reach new heights.
The game offers a photo mode that I used much. It's a nice addition. I capture many shots during my playthrough. You can see the collection in my profile. Photo mode lets you change FOV, Lara's face, mood and muscles. Even you can switch Lara to llama for some reason. Filters are available too.
The game has some cons that I want to mention. At first, I have a problem playing the game because it was constantly crashing after a few minutes of gameplay. I figure out it was caused by Nvidia Ansel on DX12. Disable it or you can try to play on DX11 but there is bad optimization. Why devs don't fix DX12 in Definitive Edition is a mystery for me. Another problem was the volume of dialogues. Some characters you can hear without problem but some NPCs are too quiet. The last thing is flying Lara. Let me explain it. When you jump to a ledge that is a little bit further it looks like Lara can fly or some kind of magnetic energy will attract her to a ledge. It's nothing big, but it can look funny or weird when it happens.
Definitive Edition contains all DLCs, that add more secondary missions, weapons and unlocks. Each DLC offer a short story with a new tomb to explore. They were fun to explore and the design is stunning. You can explore them in coop same as all non-DLC tombs. There isn't Endurance mode like in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Maybe someone can miss it, but for me, it's alright.
I enjoyed Shadow of the Tomb Raiders most from the trilogy. Very good graphics, more tombs to explore, a fine story, and improvements to gameplay. Even I completed all achievements. Deadly Obsession difficulty was frustrating, especially Cenote level, but it's a really good game. If you like Tomb Raider series definitely play this one as well.

Jungle setting was nice and fun to play through.
9.5/10 - Level designs had a few issues with swings and jumps due to rope not connecting
9/10 - Puzzles where fun to play around with and somewhat common sense but also you need to concentrate on what you are doing in each room etc..
8/10 - Skill tree is interesting while playing through the story you get to unlock some neat upgrades and abilities but I had to farm animals to level faster
9/10 -Weapons being upgradeable is a massive help, Especially the bow.
9.5/10 Map & Unlocks ...So much to unlock and explore, Cave systems and waterfalls and alot of climbing..(I still have some stuff to collect and finish myself)
9/10 - Story only took about 11 or 12 hours I kept picking up things and trying to do side quests inbetween but try not to rush it.
Can't wait for the next in the series

Graphically this game is very impressive (Although the eclipse imagery was heavily underutilised) with lighting and environmental design, especially underwater, looking really good. Stealth mechanics have had a major upgrade and now feel very responsive. It's always fun to be covered in mud, buried in thick fauna of the jungle with a knife out rambo style. Additionally I like the new rappeling and overhang abilities which allow for tense vertical sections. However this game is just soulless. The story isn't very interesting, there wasn't any enticing mystery and most of the dialogue makes me want to fall asleep. It's so superficial and average with no real twist or turns to keep you hooked, just isolated side quests around Paititi. The game is buggy, there are game breaking glitches that have not been patched at key areas in tombs and the main story (pillars and levers not operable) and the controller doesn't stop vibrating. Hunting was pretty non-existent in this game and artifacts were uninteresting.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the worst game of the Tomb Raider trilogy. I would't recommend this game alone.

The first and sadly, for me at least, only positive aspect of this game were the absolutely gorgeous graphics. It's quite impressive how much visual fidelity has improved in a mere five years, and the performance is good as well.
Otherwise though, I really didn't enjoy 'Shadow'. Aside from a few new climbing mechanics it's basically the same game as the last two, but they somehow managed to make everything feel worse.
For one, not only is the story forgettable, which is to be expected, the narration (the overall way in which the story is conveyed), which was excellent in the first 'Tomb Raider', is complete garbage here. Like in many blockbuster movies, things happen more or less randomly all over the place without any coherence or emotional urgency and even though the scope is supposed to be grander, it never feels like there is much at stake without any personal investment from Lara, who is really just a tourist who happens to be nearby when the locals do things. The completely unnecessary side-quests added for padding are also insultingly nonsensical, such as when a guy from an isolated village in the middle of the jungle asks Lara to find an artifact the queen tasked him to acquire as proof of his worth, because he 'doesn't have the time'. This might be par for the course in MMOs, but at least a little better should be expected from a story-focused first-person game such as this, especially when between the many lengthy (often unskippable) cutscenes and annoyingly long animations for everything from sitting down at a fire to wiggling through a crevice during which you lose control of Lara, large portions of the game are non-gameplay.
Combat encounters have also been trimmed significantly, both overall and in terms of number of enemies, which leaves puzzles and traversal for the majority of what you actually do. While there are fewer, but much larger world areas, both mandatory as well as optional puzzles (crypts and tombs, which are much more hidden and out of the way now), are more numerous and notably larger than before.
Now, the reason I didn't enjoy these activities in 'Shadow' may be considered questionable, since it is unfortunately related to the (still fantastic) graphical quality and environmental design, which makes gameplay conflict jarringly with appearance. Thanks to expansive vistas and excessive (but realistic) amounts of clutter everywhere, areas seem much less linear than they actually are. On the surface, this might sound nice, and could have been an improvement if it didn't actually reduce player freedom by preventing you from going anywhere you are not absolutely supposed to go. In the first 'Tomb Raider', the area borders were very obvious, which is admittedly clunky, but in exchange everything inside was traversible, whereas in 'Shadow' you can't even jump on the roofs of houses. Moreover, I found this made figuring out where you are allowed to go very frustrating, because a large portion of areas that really should be accessible actually aren't. You have to jump/grab/aim in/at the exact right place or it won't work and even then Lara is often moved in mid-air as if pulled by a magnet. This can go so far that you cannot even shoot an enemy from a position you are not supposed to be in for that encounter.
Think you can jump this knee-high fence? Nope. Walk on that log directly in front of you to cross the gap? Slip off and fall. Need to go around. Lower yourself to that clearly visible ledge? Nope, was just part of the scenery, not walkable terrain. Drop down to the bridge maybe three meters below? Instant death. Even though it will be safe to walk on later when you go there the 'right way'. Instead jump five meters backwards while hanging from a wall to an area that didn't look accessible. Similarly, puzzles have to be solved in the one intended way, even if there is an easier and more obvious solution that should plausibly work (barring glitches of course).
In conclusion, I simply didn't enjoy it and that's all that counts in the end.

I saw some mixed reviews of this game, but I figured it was nitpickers. Now, I'm not so sure. I find this game graphically beautiful, in fact, the parts in Mexico at the start were some of my favorites in a video game thus far. The red colors reminded me of the first game's tombs. 10/10 on that.
Then, as I kept playing, I noticed there was almost no combat. Hmm. I gave it more time, took it slow, did side missions and built my skills as Lara. I got pretty far in (27 hours, some of which was just open in the background, but still) and I mean, virtually none. A few battle scenes. The puzzles, however, kept coming... which is fine for some, but I found daunting and tedious, as I had multiple glitches making it impossible to complete the scene without restarting at the check point. They're harder and downright confusing at points, because context clues won't be shown. It was never something I couldn't figure out on my own in the previous games, but I even found myself googling a walkthrough once or twice.
I'm confused by Lara's behavior and personality shifts in this game, too. I did enjoy the part where we get to explore the manor she grew up in, though it was a little hard to complete. Overall, I may come back and see if the combat picks up in the last part of the game, but I've never been so off put by a TR game. Every time I thought I finished an intricate puzzle and would get some exploration or combat, boom... another puzzle.
If you can only buy one, buy Rise of the Tomb Raider instead.

The negatives are more of the same too, such as quick-time events. Some areas are so dark I needed to turn off the room lights to be able to see. The camera was sometimes zoomed in or awkwardly locked, this was rare but still occurred often enough to be annoying and worth mentioning. In going for 100% completion, many map items blink or highlight despite being completed, which made things take longer. I also found no way for all survivor caches to show on the map so finding them was more tedious than it should have been.

Clearly Shadow didn't leave as big of a mark on the industry as TR13 did but it shines brighter than Rise.
The game takes a slower spin to the story and combat, you could almost call it a stealth title. Your main focus will be moving around unnoticed, pulling off stealth-kills and exploration with a lot of platforming.
Highly recommended if you love cinematic story-telling. The game world is huge so there's a lot to do even after finishing the story if that's your thing.

Don`t get me wrong, as a long time fan of the Tomb Raider series I would have given it a 8/10. Game is amazing, great story, great character, great pretty much everything with one exception. Unskippable cut-scenes. for that i take 4 points giving it a 4/10.
It was alright the first play though because the story is interesting, but not a second time. or a third time. For me at least, NG+ is not worth due to the fact that i would have to put up with the unskippable cut scenes
4/10. Would have been 8/10 if not for what I have mentioned above

i gave tomb raider 9.5/10 - rise of the tomb raider : 9.1/10 . i give shadow of the tomb raider : 8.9/10 !
it's clear that i like this game, but shadow of the tomb raider is my least favorite one, here is why :
first of all the game feels RUSHED ! the game is a world that you play in and engage with stuff and everything in that world should be balanced and work together, from fighting to upgrades and missions and everything.
this is not as balanced as it should be, for example so many items are in places where it does not make sense, it is vividly clear that the developers were more focused on the graphics and thus so many things in game were rushed so they can just make the deadline and release. it is not a deal breaker but i just expect more from a game of this class.
another thing is that sometimes the character jumps where she pleases instead of where you want it to.
i know i am being picky, but it could have been a lot better, not to mention that the story is not that good either.
i did not enjoy this as much as the two other games.
i give this game a sweet 8.9/10.

This is exactly what a Tomb Raider game should be - lots of emphasis on exploration, climbing & puzzles with combat set pieces used just as highlights & for pacing. The puzzles are genuinely good too & the environmental work is excellent. 1st genuinly good underwater swimming controls ever in a game ? Better than any Mario, for example & certainly better than older Tomb Raider games. The story, voice acting, shaderwork, sound design all come together nicely & the game has a real sense of spectacle.
I played the PC version 3 years after release, with all the DLC included, so not sure what is DLC & what is part of the original game. At 4k stupidly high settings I struglle to think of a game that looks better overall. Took me 48.5 hrs to complete, neither rushing or being completist.
Recommended.

This feels like it was made by Ubisoft with too many copy-pasted concepts with little to no action, boring story, stupid restrictions, forced walking segments and such. I feel like I was playing Assassins creed 1 without the actual good story. It's that bad.
I'm in the hub now, which is the biggest city and its... too big with boring, irrelevant dialogues.
The collectibles are far too many and they don't matter majority of the time so they can be skipped easily (except if you can about achievements).
The banter between Jonah and Lara is pretty good, so that's one redeeming quality. Graphics are OK, nothing ground breaking (except some specific situation where this game looks gorgeous!).
Upgrades are not worthy because combat encounters are few and resources are plentiful. It feels like uncharted 4 but worse in every way! How can Square Enix screw this up after Rise?
Not recommended unless you are a huge Lara fan and even then, buy it during the sale.

Story-wise I thought it was good. Jonah's character is further developed and the bond between him and Lara strengthened. Some of the Mayan characters could be better, but I thought they were pretty good. The main quest kept me engaged and was good enough to keep me wanting to progress, though in all honesty, the exploration aspect of the game was enough to do that alone in my case.
If I had anything negative to say is that there isn't much incentive to use the bow once you get some decent guns and the enemies are quite easy, at least on normal difficulty - but since that's tweakable, upping it might resolve these issues. Same with the outfits - not much functional difference between them, even though they modify some stats. At least if there was a quick-swap button that would allow you to swap the uniforms in an instant to adjust to a situation, it'd be more useful. The way it is, changing them is too tedious and again, there's not much reason for it. If they added stats to them, they should have made them more meaningful. I'm also not sure if I fully liked the young Lara segment. Yes, it fleshes her character out and adds a nice touch of history, but I kinda wanted to get it over with and go back to the main plot. Perhaps it should be a bit shorter. It is still nice to explore a piece of Lara's childhood an her house.
All in all, for a mere ~$15 on sale with all the DLC, this game is a no-brainer, even if just to explore the locations for a few hours. Heck, check the demo if you're so hesitant and if you like TR - I don't see how you'd be disappointed.
Highly recommended.

From tomb raiding to temple defacing.
Too Long; Didn't Read: Shadow of the Tomb Raider has overcomplicated the gameplay too much, making the game a frustrating mess. A broken physics engine, poor balancing, far more glitches than in the previous game, bugged achievements, and a characterless plot and inconsistent villain all overshadow any praise I could give to this game.
I would only recommend Shadow of the Tomb Raider to serious fans of the previous two games.
????️The Gameplay????
Lara Croft hasn’t changed at all, still climbing almost any wall, taking bullets as if she drinks lead with her coffee, and has combat skills that would put the Terminator to shame. The new additions to the combat place emphasis on stealth. Lara can now cover herself in mud which then allows her to blend in with the shrubbery, both on the ground and on walls. She also has a knife from the start, which coupled with the jungle theme, makes me feel far more like John Rambo of Special Forces than Lara Croft.
The heavy emphasis on stealth this time has made the combat worse because the AI is just so poor that being caught is almost guaranteed. Enemies will huddle up all the time, even when told by each other to spread out. On the rare occasion they do split up, they become a sort of hive mind, and the moment you kill one of them, they all immediately know your position.
The only saving grace is the four mixtures you can craft in combat. These allow you to heal yourself, take less damage, slow down time when aiming and see through walls for enemies. But these only ruin the combat and make it too easy, which means you have to choose between unfair challenge and easy mode.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2555740321
Exploration is far more prevalent this time, which would be a positive to me if it were not for how stale it has become. Large jumps and rock-climbing return but after three games with little change, I’ve started to become more and more tired of them.
Lara now has a grapple that allows her to reach far off terrain as well as swing from branches and beams above her. She can also use it to scale walls and use the built-up momentum of running across them to make incredible jumps. This grapple is more of an annoyance than it is a saviour though. Due to the strange physics of the game, Lara’s peak speed when scaling walls is when she’s slowing down and about to turn the other direction. This makes some of the big jumps near the end of the game, as well as the DLC challenges, impossible to players who follow what they see on screen and make Lara jump when she’s still running.
Throughout the game, Lara has to run away from an army or a crumbling temple, and players will most likely die without fault, because the terrain they’re expected to hurriedly climb will glitch out and not work at all, or the camera won’t keep up with the player as it becomes stuck on something out of view.
This makes Deadly Obsession, the hardest difficulty, far more challenging than intended. Like with Rise of the Tomb Raider, I decided my first playthrough would be on the hardest difficulty. But instead of having an enjoyable challenge like last time, I kept losing thirty minutes to an hour of progress due to the broken climbing and poor placement of campfires.
Since campfires are the only place where you can save in Deadly Obsession, I was expecting one every half an hour of gameplay. Instead, I found ten of them in the cities with no danger and none in a temple that takes forty minutes to complete.
While you can still upgrade your weaponry and choose skills at campfires, this time around, those skills seem to be less useful than before. And since the bow is the only stealth weapon it’s clear what the priority is on the upgrade list.
The only praise I can give this time is to the challenge tombs and new crypts. Unlike the previous games, challenge tombs now are just as large and puzzling as the main game tombs and still reward the player with a unique skill. The new crypts are mini-dungeons that give Lara unique pieces of armour or costume to wear.
????The Story & Presentation????
Lara Croft has been competing with Trinity, a vague military organisation that is evil. Lara finds a dagger that is said to remake the world, and she takes it in fear of Trinity getting first. But the dagger requires a box to be contained in, and so on its own it starts causing natural disasters like floods and earthquakes. Now it’s a race to find the box before Trinity does to stop the end of the world.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s story isn’t awful, but it never got interesting or surprising. Lara’s last two adventures were relatively story heavy, but this time we have a cutscene or forced walking every minute, bombarding you with so much exposition and so many characters that it became irritating.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2555740378
Lara is so strangely written this time, being portrayed as socially awkward and very apathetic to those around her, unlike how kind and caring she was in the first two games. Yet again the writers have made her weak and sad at the beginning, and strong and confident at the end. After three games, it doesn’t work anymore, and I’m tired of seeing Lara having to regain her confidence each adventure.
Jonah, her companion, returns again, and while he’s still a little useless considering how capable Lara is on her own, I do like the attempts at making him more of an interesting character. He confronts her about poor and reckless decisions and has to do more of the talking since Lara is now depicted as an antisocial psycho.
Finally the villain of this game is very weak. He’s written to be a villain who thinks themself the hero, wanting to save the small tribe they descend from modernisation. The problem is none of this works, no hero works with a secret military army that kills civilians and uses helicopters with rocket launchers to threaten their perceived enemies. They’re also just very inconsistent as a character, being depicted as both a wise cracking evil genius, but also a confused idiot, trying to do the right thing?
????Graphics & Soundtrack????
Visually this game is gorgeous and blew me away with how pretty everything is. People could still use a little more work, but the world they inhabit is so well made and so detailed, I’d be willing to say it almost looks realistic.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2555789442
The soundtrack is a little forgettable, it’s your typical heavy drums for combat and small assortment of instruments for the peaceful segments. It all fits the theme and location well but never stood out to me.
????Performance & Bugs????
On my GTX 1060, the game looked great at 50 fps. While this never bothered me, you could obviously lose the great lighting or a little detail to reach 60 fps.
The game is far more unstable than previous games. Multiple crashes a few times during gameplay and when being minimized. The achievements and collectibles are also broken, with achievements refusing to be tracked on occasion and collectibles not spawning in.
❌Final Score & Comments????
I’d give Shadow of the Tomb Raider a 5/10. What I liked about the game all came from the previous titles. The forced stealth combat and irritating exploration made my experience frustrating. The story is not exactly bad, but it’s definitely not good and became an annoyance as it constantly took over the gameplay.
Everything looks amazing; clearly lots of effort went into visuals, voice acting and sound, but the actual gameplay needs a lot of work.
It's such a shame this is the end of the trilogy. I’d say Rise of the Tomb Raider is the best in the series, followed by Tomb Raider with this game being the worst out of the three.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an action-adventure game in which Lara Croft tries to save the world from a Maya apocalypse.
Story
The story begins very Tomb Raider like, Lara Croft tries to stop Trinity once more but ultimately fails and a chain of apocalypse like events start to happen. It’s time for the player to stop Trinity once and for all, while discovering new places and trying to stop a Maya disaster from happening.
Personal Note
I picked this game up on a sale and I’m honestly not disappointed. Gameplay wise nothing much really changed – which is a bit unfortunate, that being said, it’s very easy to pick up especially if you played the other two Tomb Raider games in this reboot installment.
I found myself completing all the side quests and there are quite a handful of those – I would say that most of them seem to be optional, to some extend at least, but at the same time they unlock certain areas that you wouldn’t be able to access otherwise. If you don’t care about collectibles or side quests you can easily ignore them without that much of a punishment.
Although there is more positive than negative to this game, I want to mention that this game unfortunately suffers from some weird decisions like the outfit system and how the game forces you to move slower when talking with someone on the move or while walking through random areas.
The photo mode is pretty decent and for sure one of the better ones out there – so if you like to take screenshots you are good to go. You can use the photo mode in cut scenes as well.
Rating
- Pros
- Beautiful graphics
- Great sound design
- Good main story
- Interesting side stories
- Good voice acting from the main characters
- A lot of stuff to do if you’re interested in 100%
- DLC Tombs are pretty decent
- Great photo mode
- Cons
- Puzzles are too easy
- Controls are not perfect for keyboard & mouse
- Just a few new mechanics
- Voice acting of side characters seem a bit off
- Forced walking at times
- Game breaking bug if you shoot a laptop
- Optimization isn’t too great in the bigger areas
- The outfit system is pretty weird & annoying
Conclusion
Well, the question is: Is Shadow of the Tomb Raider worth getting? If you like action-adventures or if you’re a big Tomb Raider fan you can’t do anything wrong with buying the game. I’d recommend waiting for a sale in which the whole bundle is a bit cheaper – mostly because the story itself isn’t too long if you don’t do any of the side quests or optional tombs or DLC tombs.
All in all, I think it’s a good game and I hope that the possible 4th game in this new Tomb Raider franchise comes with more new mechanics and gameplay elements and more challenges that are a bit harder to complete.

This game is really beautiful, they even managed to make Lara look good again compared to the last game in the trilogy at least. She still doesn’t look all that great though but at least her player model is well rendered. Seriously this game looks amazing, the graphics alone make it worth playing. Some of the sequences in the tombs are also very intense and the climbing sequences are a lot of fun. The gameplay and the level design are very well designed and in this respect Shadow of the Tomb Raider is as good as any other modern AAA game.
However it’s with the characters and the story that this game is actually pretty awful. The story and cutscenes are more boring than ever for this series and I actually just started skipping them completely about half way through the campaign. The most interesting thing about the story is just the environment and how deep into the jungle you end up going. Other than this it is a slow, boring slog through the main story. This is made even worse by the fact that Lara is an annoying and boring character in this game.
It’s cool how in the previous game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, they included some missions in Croft Manor. In those missions the developers gave some back story about Lara as a child and in this game they expand on that a little bit. Even though the story and cutscenes really suck in these sequels at least the developers were trying to create some immersion here.
Unfortunately though the vast majority of the story is terrible all over again just like the previous game, it’s very boring and even depressing at times. In fact I find it hard to understand how they couldn't have hired some good writers or something to improve this aspect of the game. I do recommend this game because of the level design and the gameplay but it is a shame (just like the previous game in the series) that the story really sucks.

If you enjoyed the previous games I'd say give this one a go, sadly this has been my least favorite of series.
It feels like this picks right back up with the same crew but there is little mention of story Arc events from #2 which seem pretty formative. and progression/puzzles seem a bit too 'on rails' for my liking. I'm still enjoying it.
I do like how they can take a hero from a previous game and strip her down to need to regain gear and skills they did a great job on that!
Story is OK sorta predictable but not bad.
Overall 7.5/10

However, the biggest downside to this game is the constant use of cinematics, forced slow walk segments and 'hidden' loading screens (lots of slowly edging through tight spaces). The over usage of these throughout the game makes it feel like you are barely controlling the game and most of it is just a dash of gameplay to get to the next cinematic. The last part of the game really shines and shows the potenital of what this could have been. Although it appears that the level of effort put into the ending was not used anywhere else.
Its a shame as all the other tomb raiders I enjoyed (especially Rise of The Tomb Raider) but this one falls short.

I'll start with the pros. What the game is good at, it excels at. Graphics and environments are very pretty. If you like taking screenshots, you'll enjoy Photo mode. Parkouring was improved, and there's more swimming, which opened up new areas. Exploration and atmosphere is great, especially the puzzles; finding tombs and crypts was most of the fun. I loved the Mayan and Incan mythology - but they do mix up the two sometimes.
However, you can't ignore the cons. The story is shorter than ROTR and I forced myself to do side-quests to make for time. A lot of it focuses on Lara (and Jonah), but lacks depth to anyone else. I couldn't really 'get into' this one like I could ROTR, and willing myself to play was sometimes a struggle. The trailer shows more combat, but that's not true; besides areas for story, there are no open-world threats. Because of that, the 'dangerous Amazon' the trailer shows feels more like a walk in the park.
Overall, I liked the game, but that's it. Felt bland because nothing new was thrown at us. I would wait for a discount, and I wouldn't recommend buying DLC.

So the game play was easy, like all Tomb Raider games, but. Easy to master and progressing with the story. But this one for me has the best physics about climbing, swimming and things like that. The final boss fight had all my focus and i enjoyed it really much. Died couple of times and that pumped me a lot. So it gave me great sense of achievement after finish. The story was great, one of the best. There is some grinding in the game but if you don't care about it you don't have to do it. Just to upgrade your weapons if you want. Graphics are just great. I love the jungle parts with lot's of colors graphic details. Audio is OK, if you are going for music. But audio effects are great. Parts with explosion are insane if you play on high volume on headphones. It gives you real tense sense during the game play.
Who do i recommend this game. To everyone. Like any Tomb Raider games it is not that difficult, because the whole focus is about enjoying the game and story telling. Game time depends on you. If you want to grind you will lose more time, there is a lot of side quests if you want to enjoy a bit more in the game. But if you want to go only for a quick story you can finish this game in under 10 hours.
About the price. If you want to buy it buy it it will be worth it. One of the best Tomb Raider games that i played if not the best one.

Personal Rating 90%
This time adventure found Lara in Mexico where she unleashes the Mayan apocalypse by removing a dagger from a tomb.
Her adventure with Jonah then leads her to a Peruvian jungle on her search for Pandora's Box.
However, Jonah's and Lara's plane crashes right into the jungle in Peru.
Pandora jokes aside, the last Tomb Raider in the trilogy reboot is amazing!
The story has strong emotional moments and profound symbolism around the themes of deepest desire and rewriting reality.
Every time I play I Tomb Raider game, I get these Davinci Code Vibes.
The collecting of artifacts, translation of murals and listening to journals and memos with the protagonists voiceover is just great.
When are we getting the next Tomb Raider?

The developers describe the game as follows
Zitat:
Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, Nixxes Software:
Relive Lara Croft's defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must conquer a deadly jungle, face spooky tombs and endure her darkest hours. In a race to save the world from the Mayan apocalypse, Lara slowly transforms into the Tomb Raider she is destined to become.
Survive in the Deadliest Place on Earth: Survive in a relentless jungle. Explore underwater locations full of caves and deep tunnels.
Become One with the Jungle: Lara must use the jungle to her advantage, strike and disappear like a jaguar at lightning speed, use mud as camouflage and instill fear in enemies to create chaos.
Discover Dark, Cruel Tombs: Tombs are even more terrifying. They are more difficult to reach and they are full of deadly puzzles.
Discover Living History: Discover a hidden city and explore the greatest environment ever in a Tomb Raider game.

The graphics are brilliant, the voice-acting of Camilla Luddington outstanding as before.
The story is gripping and has several facets; something I have missed in the Prophet narrative of Rise of the Tomb Raider.
On one side, the story does a fantastic job at diving deeper into Lara's psychology; namely her inner struggle with the Croft legacy, her relentless quest for truth and downsides to her mentality.
This game has some great scenes between Jonah and Lara in which her actions are being questioned.
Furthermore, we get to see sides of Lara which did not appear in the other two games.
Overall the monologues and narrative take on a more critical and philosophic shape than before.
The story does an equally good job of concluding the story around Mr. Croft and his death.
Whereas Rourke is a cliché trinity villain scumbag, his superior Dominguez is not.
As a character Dominguez is well written through dialogues and lore of Paititi.
But what was most remarkable in this title, is that Lara Croft is indeed part of the ancient history she is researching. It is as if the path of Ix Chel and Chak Chel is woven into her destiny.

I loved this game more than Rise of the tomb raider.
There wasn't a dull moment and i was genuinely curious about all the tombs and artifacts.
I liked how they allowed us to visit different places with different tribe and villagers. Which is really cool and felt like an actual open world game.
You can buy stuffs, sell things and also craft ur outfit.
Puzzles were not too difficult and overall my experience was smooth. I liked the story too (not wanna spoil anything)
8.5/10 in my opinion

Stage design, gameplay, unique graphics and great story are all in this game.
If this is the first time you are familiar with this series or you want to play new, I recommend that you start with the first issue, Tomb Raider 2013, after that Rise of Tomb Raider and finally the shadow of Tomb Raider.
So this is the end of the story, I can not believe.
Thank you for being with us all these years, I hope to hear from you again.

It was not a great pleasure. I spent two-thirds of Shadow being regularly annoyed at how stupid it was. The narrative starts off as a series of dumb but inoffensive tropes—just like the earlier ones—but devolves into incoherency around the time you’re introduced to the big hub city that’s supposed to be this game’s distinguishing feature.
I don’t want to spend paragraphs on all the ways it’s dumb, but in short it creates an elaborate, ridiculous back story that drives the events, then drip-feeds the details of that back story in found documents, such that Lara Croft seems to always know what’s going on, but the player is always playing catch-up. This is obnoxious because, again, the story is so dumb, and the characters’ actions so unmooored from any explicable motivation, that I could not bring myself to put in the effort to make sense of it.
Dumb stories are tolerable in guilty pleasure games, normally, but Shadow really cares about it’s story! It’s determined to stuff the game with cutscenes, walk-and-talks, and lore in every cranny, so there isn’t really getting around it.
The game does make some genuine improvements to the formula: modular difficulty levels that you can set separately for combat, puzzles, and navigation is brilliant and something other open-world games should steal. The renewed focus on environmental puzzle solving over combat is a welcome one, though the level design (full of perfectly functional Rube Goldberg machines in 400-year-old tombs) can’t be bothered to even gesture at verisimilitude. The game is also technically gorgeous, and features the most advanced “photography mode” I’ve ever seen, for those artistically inclined individuals who like to put in the effort to take fantastic screenshots.
But by god, the narrative is dumb.

Don't expect much different from the previous two games, except for a continuation of the story (including a major reveal about the death of Lara's dad).
The game is the same. Same sort of puzzles, same (low) frequency of enemy encounters, same level-up system, hours of exploring to find everything (if you're that type)....
But the cinematics and environment are fabulous as always, the characters are endearing, relatively dynamic combat, and some badass costumes for our beloved protagonist.
Some of the DLC weapons kinda ruined the fun for me, because they're OP and you start the game with them. You don't need to fight/explore to find resources to slowly upgrade the base weapons over-time.
I'd personally recommend to not use the DLC weapons during the campaign if you want that sense of progression.
Absolutely LOVED the playable childhood flashback level. It added more depth to Lara's personality.
I'm 75% through the game in 4 days. I might do it again with max difficulty and no dlc weapons.
Looking forward to the next one.

I usually love scripted games with deep stories, twists and good acting. This one lacks of any of those things. Story is dull and fails to engage players. At some point I started not even caring about it. It is awfully riddle withside quests whose only purpose is keeping you running around the map, jumping the same jumps over an over again just for nothing... they only contribute to disconnect you even further from the already weak story line.
Combat is good but at this point (60% of the game) I have barely been in a handful of fights... so who cares about all my brawlers abilities.
I hate Lara´s outfits. They are utterly ridiculous. I get the whole Aztec / Mayan vibe of being an Eagle warrior but as an english woman in my twenties I feel like wearing a dead bird over my head is more like nonsense cultural appropiation than a realistic combat boost.
Jumping difficulty is at points really annoying. I notice that developers have dedicated quite an effort into blending in climbing surfaces and ledges into the scenario so they didn´t look as artificial or disconnected like in previous games... but at some points it is just painful trying to figure out where the hell you are suppose to jump next. I hate when a simple jumping sequence turns into trial and error (and error and error and error and error). And trust me, more than 50% of those errors are either because controls do suck (throw the effing climbing hook thing now what are you waiting for !!) or because it is really really really annoying trying to distinguish an climbable rock from an unclimbable one.
I´m starting to think I hate this game. Something about their REALLY magnificent scenarios and the sheer pleasure of using a bow and arrow keeps me from dropping it... don´t know if that will last any longer.
Also, I am super annoying of the puzzles too.

This game took out combat almost entirely. In 20 hours I can count on my fingers the amount of combat situations I've been in, and I've done every side quest that I've been presented.
The game is incredibly scripted. It feels less like a game and more like an interactive movie. It's boring, there's astoundingly little gameplay outside of walking through an unskippable in-game cutscene.
Platforming is abysmal. It is completely impossible to tell what is possible to climb and what isn't. In some cases, I have jumped the correct path several times and just died because the game felt like it.
Deaths are very obnoxious. You will die a lot because of the awful platforming, and each time you will have to watch a 20-45 second cutscene of Lara dying in some gruesome manner. The other games had this too and it was fine, but these are very long and the platforming is so much worse than in the past that it really outstayed its welcome.
I would not recommend this game. The story isn't good enough to justify the terrible gameplay that it was prioritized over, and fans of the past games will not find what they enjoyed in this one. It's an Uncharted knock-off without any of the good aspects of Uncharted.

That being said, it's a shame that this installment is unable to live up to RotTR, because the developers definitely added some great features on top of the gameplay that made RotTR so good. Thus now there is expanded platforming, with Lara being able to rappel down and swing to and from rock formations. Also Lara is able to swim on her own volition. These are nice additions that make sense in the Tomb Raider game world. The use of lightning is is superb, and usually you can pick out your pathway and interesting places by looking at the way areas are lit. Finally, the jungle environment works really well and is a sight to behold.
However (and this is where the bad starts), there is no real jungle exploration after the first hub. Most of the game is centered around two urbanized hubs, which offer themselves little in the way of exploration, fighting and story. If you rush through the story—and thus miss out on most of the optional collectables, dungeons and platforming—you'll probably wonder what all the fuss is about. If, on the other hand, you try to hunt down all hidden crypts, tombs and collectibles you'll eventually just get bored by the repetitious need to traverse these huge urbanized hubs.
Exploration is, unfortunately, also very bland and (except for some scripted set pieces) you will not encounter human enemies while exploring. Even threats from animals are limited and far in between. Stealth is well ... there. Whenever you're—actually—engaging human enemies, the area is so confined and combat is basic that you don't even have to bother with it. Just grab your gun and get it over with, and be none the worse for wear. Platforming is generally implemented well, even when it tends to bug out and you die a frustrating death because of it. There's also quite a lot of forced camera perspectives when Lara is platforming and they generally feel like a nuisance.
The story, well I don't very much care for the story actually. They never tend to work well in open world games because the pacing gets off. What I did find disappointing was the complete lack of variation in murals and steles. I remember how in RotTR most of the ingame murals and steles were a small joy in themselves. Not so much in SotTR; each mural is literally the same placeholder (that is not a mural in itself) that is used over and over again. Searching for hidden clous on relics is a chore because the game does not seem to register the camera angles as it should. Oh and those hidden clous? Sometimes they're just missing from the model and Lara reads an invisible clou. Clearly, they ran out of development time.
My final grievance with SotTR? Deadly Obsession difficulty. Only saving at basecamps sounds like a real challenge. In reality it turned out to be a perfect example of lazy game design. The developers failed to stop and think one second what the consequences would be of introducing such a hardcore mode, what it's purpose is and how that affects game. The spacing of camp sites (which is the only place you can save) is terrible off, and they're clearly not placed with this mode in mind. Had they actually thought this through, they could've made this mode into a fun, challenging, and overall well-rounded and rewarding experience.
This, in essence, marks the SotTR experience: disjuncted, not very well thought out, and overall lacking in finesse. The potential of the jungle setting has been criminally underutilized. In between there are some really marvelous moments, with well thought out levels, visual eye candy, and an engaging subplot... but in the end it all fades into oblivion. The same holds true for the DLC; only get them if you're a completionist.
SotTR is a game that just hangs on there and is barely capable of piquing your interest long enough to make you complete the game. It is a Tomb Raider game and definitely caters to the Tomb Raider audience, but there is just not enough fun content, thus ultimately turning this into an overall extremely bland experience. 5/10

First of all, I did play almost all tomb raider games to date except the 2016 one (rise of the tomb raider).
The story might not be the best but it's not bad either since I think anyone can understand it and it's enjoyable.
The gameplay is the old games plus the new ones; meaning the way you move, fight, level up, etc, are very similar to the last Tomb Raider games but the game it self is an adventure game like the old ones where you explore a lot of places and do some secondary quests as well.
I recommend a lot doing the secondary quests while playing the main campain because when doing the main campain you might get the desire of explore and I do believe I'm not the only one that doesn't like to leave things unexplored behind. Many secondary quests lead you to very cool places where you could only find/enter while doing the quests. I did my self almost all secondary quests except 2 small ones that I will do soon.
There are severals tombs through the game including some that can only be acess by doing secondary quests and I gotta admit, they are one of the best things in the game.
You spent lot of time doing them and they're very enjoyable especially when finishing them since you get a unique reward on each tomb.
After completing a tomb in the game, you can play the tomb again through the game menu and the best part, some can be played coop with a partner (haven't tried yet but I will for sure)
There are a lot of skins that you can use while playing the game which some even have unique skills.
A thing I personally think it's very important it's the time you take to finish the game. I do hate so much when a game ends in less than 10hours, especially when the price that I paid for was not low.
Good thing this game wasn't the case. It took me +/- 40hours to finish the main campain while doing a lot of exploring and doing all tombs and secondary quests.
If I did play only the main campain and ignore all the rest, it might have taken +/- 18hours to finish only the main campain which is actually very decent.
The graphics are insane with such beautifull views but unfortunately the RTX option was not working. Everytime I tried to enable it, the game just became pixelized. I don't know if it's a problem that everybody does have or not but it isn't a big deal since the game it self is so beautifull already.
Some time ago, Tomb Raider 2013 was free and I think almost everybody got it and since you're here (in the review section) I think you may have played that game already. If you did enjoy it, I assure you, you will love this one. If you did play any tomb raider game and you liked it, I'm very confident you will find this game enjoyable as well.
Hope I did help someone by writting this.

1) This game might take a while to get used to controls and general perspective while walking or climbing. Don't take that into account you will get used to that quite fast.
2) Even at some point of time you start to think you know whats is going to happen (that was at around 10h into game) eventually you will see that story is actually going into different way. This game have super nice story i suggest reading all info about artifacts and documents you find, it gives nice new clues about lore and better understanding of what is happening (i love that you can just listen to that).
3) If you have RTX card please use DLSS because it literally makes game beautiful. Overall graphics are fantastic, but with DLSS its becomes place you want to actually go to.
4) Don't save money and get DLC pack (at least when you get to Patiti) it really gives more info about lore and it quite enjoyable.
5) If you are achievement hunter i suggest to read about Croft manor part before playing it. There are some missable things you cant go back to.
Overall 10/10 game in all parts. I would say that there is only one better game that this, so this one gets honorable second place in my all time best games list.

But I have to complain that the plot of this generation is too long
And the plot is not as exciting as the first two
But the Mayan culture and natural scenery are so beautiful
I spend half of my time playing games observing the scenery.

Story is weak, but again, if you enjoyed the previous games, you know that already. These are not games to play for great twists and turns, but for exploration. Tombs are greatly improved from the first game and very much fun to explore and solve.
My personal nit-pick is that the journal entries for the collectibles no longer automatically trigger once you collect them, you must open the journal yourself. Even worse, they are now read by Lara instead of the writer of said notes. This takes away lot of flavor and interest, at least for me.
All in all, gameplay is good, exploration is fun, environment is looks great. Story is weak, and like in previous games, rail roads are most definitely there waiting for you with white markings. I do recommend this if those things do not put you off, if you expect more, you should look elsewhere.

Compelling story line, beautiful graphics & brilliant puzzles
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a phenomenal game. It makes great advancements in gameplay, looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous, and has an incredibly emotional story which wrapped up the trilogy nicely but was still very much its own thing.
Camilla Luddington knocks it out of the park once again here and her excellent performance is a big part of why Croft feels so real and relatable. Despite her saying this may be her last outing as the action heroin I suspect when we eventually get a new game in the future she’ll be on the short list of voice actors to call up. I will say whilst she does feel closer to the classic incarnation I would have liked to see just a little bit more of that peak through. 5 years later and she still doesn’t use those damn pistols but like I said I doubt this is the end of Croft’s story so die-hard classic fans might just have to wait that little bit longer.
Anyways, since the game is on sale, this is must buy. It’s definitely worth your time.

Pros:
+ Tombs and even Krypts are really interesting to explore. Puzzles can sometimes be hard but never boring or dumb.
+ Lots of mods for your guns, new equipment, a different crossbow, and costumes for your Lara.
+ More cool skills that add a variety to silents kills, loud kills, and more.
+ Plot is really cool. I don't know why but I really enjoy all that Mayan related stuff.
Cons:
- Side missions and all that dialogue can be really boring sometimes.
- Sometimes NPC's act stupid. For example when they are screaming they don't even open their mouths or getting a proper reaction from them is hard.
Overall it's another good game in a series, 8/10.
And now some short words about all the DLC's: They are really good-looking like all tombs in Tomb Raider but they are really short, about 5-10 minutes long. They set them like a challenge to do it on a timer, etc to compete with other players in the leaderboard. So if you wanna buy it do it only with a discount.

Good Adventure game. Third-person camera/view. Decent story/plot. Puzzle focused, Less Gunplay, 10 to 12 hours campaign (extending up to 50 hours for full exploration, tombs, sides missions).Lack of proper boss fight.
Excellent Graphics (with Ray Tracing). Photographer Mode.
Overview
Much like its predecessor, SOTR is a good adventure game that focuses on solving puzzles. The story and the plot are decent. The puzzles in the game are hard and will test your puzzle-solving ability/skill. But one would get a feeling of satisfaction once they are able to solve the puzzles by themselves. The game is based around the adventure of the infamous archaeologist and our favourite Lara Croft. Lara have grown and have matured a lot when compared to the game’s predecessors.
Gameplay
The player will once again delve into the shoes of Lara Croft and will adventure around the world while solving riddles, puzzles, mysteries and discovering new places that were abandoned for hundreds of years. The game is played in “third-person view.” Exploration and “puzzle-solving” are the core aspects of the game with elements of gunplay, stealth and archery. There is a coop mode which allows players to explore the challenge tombs together. It is not connected to the main story campaign which is “exclusively solo.” This coop mode can be accessed from the main menu, “challenge tomb sections.”
Game Duration
The game can be completed in 10-12 hours if only the main campaign/story is focused. For completeness, it can take up to 50 hours which includes collecting artefacts, documents treasures, exploring tombs etc.
Combat, Mechanics and Weapon variety
Combat is decent. If you are exclusively looking for gunplay and “heart-pumping action” then this game might not meet your expectation since it is more of an “adventure-based” game with a heavy focus on puzzle-solving and exploration. There are some gun categories in the game like assault rifles, shotguns, pistols. In addition to gunfights, Lara can use her bow and arrow as well. The player can craft/buy modified ammos like “explosive shells” for shotguns, “flare rounds for pistols”, fire arrows/fear arrows for the bow etc. Stealth mechanics and stealth kills can also be used in certain combat situations. Some stealth kill/mechanics include
~“Hiding in bushes” and then assassinating the enemy when they passed by an unnoticed Lara;
~“Climbing over trees” and using ropes to hang/tie up the enemy and pull up.
~Hiding underwater and dragging the enemy underwater for a quick kill.
These are some cool mechanics that the player will enjoy. Some other mechanics include “targeting multiple targets at once and releasing volleys of arrows”, slowing of time while aiming guns/arrows and some other mechanics. Overall I would say the combat is decent and enjoyable although it may not satisfy some hardcore gamers who exclusive love action/gunplay.
Enemy Type
Enemies ranges from human enemies like military, gangsters, local thugs, tribes to wild animals like jackal’s, jaguars, wolfs etc. Compared to the human enemies, the animals are more challenging to defeat.
Game Difficulty
The game has four difficulty settings which can match all category of players ranging from casual players to hardcore players. In addition to combat/action difficulty there are separate difficulty setting for exploration, puzzles. You can set the “action/combat” difficulty to the hardest while keeping the “puzzle difficulty” to lowest. “Lower puzzle difficulty” highlights some hints/objects which the players need to interact during a sequence/section of a puzzle.
Graphics
Excellent and Gorgeous. Have Ray tracing feature as well. A “photographer mode” is available which allows the player to take screenshots while in-game. The player can say/adjust the picture colour, brightness, saturation, hues and some other aspects while taking the screenshots. Even on lower-end specs, the screenshots could look gorgeous and beautiful if correct adjustments are made while taking the screenshots.
Sound and Music
It is good and matches the game situation. Voice acting is also good and it brings life to the characters.
Exploration, Puzzles, Crafting, Skill Path
“Exploration” is the heart of this game. The players are encouraged to explore as much as they can to discover hidden mysteries, documents, artefacts which could craft a story of their own if all the ones in their particular series are collected. The challenge tombs in the game offer some tough puzzle which the players need to solve. There are around 16 challenge tombs (9 main games, 7 DLC) in the game. It is not mandatory to complete the tombs. Although it is recommended that the player complete the tombs as completing them offers excellent rewards which range from equipment’s, skill points, special skills, weapons.
The player can craft special arrows like fire arrows, fear arrows which have special effects when used. For instance, a fear arrow will cause fear among an enemy who is being shot and that enemy will shoot anyone in their sight including their own ally. The players can also craft bombs, smoke grenades, flares, medicinal recipes, some status alteration mixtures. The “status alteration mixtures” can be crafted from herbs, special plants that can be gathered throughout the world. “Status alteration” includes enhancement of Lara’s vision, endurance, slowing time, instant healing and some others.
Lara can use a variety of skills which can help her in combat, stealth, any puzzles. Skills can be upgraded through skill points which are obtained by Lara by gaining experience points. Experience points can be acquired from fighting, discovering, solving the puzzle, completing missions and some other actions. Some puzzle related skill includes “revealing traps” while using focus mode while an example of stealth kill includes killing two enemies at a time who are adjacent to each other.
Some flaws
The Enemy AI is not great and combats especially gunplay needs improvement. There is no proper “boss fight” well except for the final enemy which is also too easy. At least the second hardest difficulty is required so that it can offer a challenge to the player. The player will die a lot more from “unsuccessful wall grips”, ledge grips”, “failed jumps” than getting killed in the hands of the enemy. Sometime, unable to match some puzzle sequence will instantly kill the player (by piercing arrows, fires etc.). The “puzzles” can be too hard at some places and there are quite some glitches which will force the player to reload that part/area. Fortunately, the autosave option is good which autosaves a lot making it somewhat easy to progress.
Also, there will be some section/ mission where Lara had to switch to particular dress so that she can interact with certain groups of people. This is quite annoying since you are not sure when you need to equip Lara with the desired outfit. The outfits can only be changed in base camps (the save points in the game). If the player has not discovered the basecamp near the mission area, then chances are that they had to backtrack a lot to earlier basecamp to change the dress/outfit to progress further in the mission. Changing weapons, outfits, bows, fast travel, upgrading skill can be possible only when using basecamps. The crafting system could have been improved.
Recommendation and Verdict
Despite some flaws that are mentioned, the game will offer a pleasant experience for the players who would like to sit back and relax. It is recommended that the players complete all the challenge tombs in the game which will be highly rewarding. If the thrill of “adventuring through harsh lands,” “climbing steep and dangerous mountains,” “traversing extreme climatic conditions”, enjoying the gorgeous scenery and landscape means anything to the player then this game can be enjoyed a lot.

Good amount of collectibles + hidden areas which promote replayability as you are forced to backtrack after unlocking certain equipment.
The second half of the game was just plain weird, stale and felt out of place - but I still recommend it as a good adventure/puzzle game. I have always been fond of the Tomb Raider franchise and this game did not fail to impress.

The Story: I really like how this narrative isn't all about Lara on her own -- now she has a friend that functions as a source for character development (makes you see/change/appreciate your perspective of Lara).
I'll very likely explore all the nooks-and-crannies the development team put their 'heart and soul' in creating here.
--This is a bias review: In the sense that I really enjoyed the past two Tomb Raider games.
---Final thought: Haven't finished the game yet, but I really hope there is a fourth... and a fifrth... etc.

Also, I'm a sucker for history, and man every single tomb raider game has really took me on epic adventures through the different cultures of this planet and I am excited for the inevitable return to Lara's tale as a result. Just imagine what ancient Egyptian, tombs would look like. Or medieval Europe, or hell go crazy and do something like ancient Inuit or Ghana or an Oceania culture. The possibilities are endless.
This is also one of the best looking games I have played. Indie games have their charm, but so do triple A games. The many set piece moments that Square Enix probably dumped too much money into are all jaw dropping. Runs flawlessly maxed out on a 2080 super and actually performs much better than Rise of the Tomb Raider for me. Only somewhat annoying issue is I can't use Steam overlay because that crashes the game for some reason.

Well don't hope to see a lot of actions and battles in this one cuz you won't... it's more about stealth and exploration, not like tomb raider and rise of the tomb raider. ^^
The graphics are extremely beautiful, the combat works pretty well altho the craft weapon part sucks... cuz if you bought the definitive edition like i did... it came with more weapons and even if you craft some idk pistol, shotgun, rifle or bow till the maximum lvl the dlc's gives you something better >.>' so the craft part for making the weapons better is useless a waste of time in this one.
The DLC's are pretty fun and the puzzles are meh, you can put it on the menu to the hardest but if you are not a retarded you'll find it pretty easy to solve, if you haven't played this one yet, well prepare yourselves guys cuz it has a lot of cutscenes like many hours of it almost 4 hours. idk but something like that.... but it's alright.
Remember folks in this one you will explore much more than fight so don't expect for much action like Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider 2015. =)
Well it's a fun game and Lara still gorgeous and deadly <3
Shadow of the Tomb Raider 8/10

The [strike]not so epic[/strike] end of the series?
Everyone who likes TR games can find something nice in the game, whether you liked TR 2013 or RotTR. You will find it very convenient when you can separately change the difficulty of combat, exploration and puzzles, which makes the game more enjoyable for every individual play style. Graphics are similar to RotTR game, puzzles are still creative and what you love in the previous games are still there except some few things. There's a lot of climbing, swimming, a story, talking to natives, watching the scenery and archery.
Story is quite interesting and there are plenty side missions and things to do besides the story. The setting is set in deep jungles and at the very heart of Mayan remnants. Amazing graphics help in creating an authentic jungle experience making it the best looking game in the series.
You get more freedom to explore the world this time, which seems to be a step forward from the precedent games. There is a lot of underwater exploration in this one, so you might need to hold your breath for more than half of the playthrough, which is really not that challenging considering that keeping Lara from drowning is relatively easy. You can find a lot of air pockets where she can regain her breath and since the game lets you also invest in some skills that helps her do so for longer, makes it a bit easier than I have hoped for. Of course, these are purely optional, so if you want a more challenging experience, you can choose not to spend any points in these skills.
There are enough outfits, and they look interesting, weapon upgrades are ok, and the skill tree is as complex as it should be. It feels like some skills are kinda useless. In this respect, I think more balance should have been done to the skills, so it mattered more what you picked to learn. Unlocking all achievements is hard and challenging.
???? Pros:
- A good game for Tomb Raider fans with its atmosphere
- Decent gameplay length even without DLCs
- Great upgraded graphics and optimization
???? Cons:
- Few bugs can be encountered
- Not enough shooting and action for action fans
Conclusion
That being said, SofTR is a beautiful game, worth playing for the graphics and atmosphere. It is very likely that if you enjoyed Rise, you will also love this one. However, it is hard for me to say which one is better. I could say that Shadow has better graphics, but I might have enjoyed Rise gameplay a bit more. | [/tr]

Watch Lara -
destroy cities (not her fault), cult of Kukulkan and the Trinity in the Peruvian jungles, The Hidden city and half left San Jaun.
Explore Ancient Mayan, Aztec and Incan Artifacts and collections.
She also befriends his best frnd's GF, some badass people (Unaratu,Etzli, Protectors) and Ancient Guardians, the Yaaxil and their Queen(Crimson Fire)
Get a Huge collection of dresses, and bows so you can look good and also have the best killing machine(the bow).
+ Story
+ Tombs and Challenges
+ Art/culture and music
+ Action
+ petting Llamas
+ Photo mode (was fun to play with )
- Graphics felt like upgraded version of ROTR despite the Definitive edition.
- This time for me it was less of Lara Killing Simulator but was throwing Lara down cuz she could grab hold of something due to a glitch/bug.
The usual expression on Lara's face was like she is going through Depression, which most can relate to, so like real life.
Enjoyed the game, must try if you love Lara or this series.

Pros:
1) Graphics, absolute gorgeous
2) Domain Design
3) Gameplay
4) Length- Not too long, not too short, perfect for a Tomb raider (More hours for achievement hunters)
5) Stealth mechanics
6) Sound design
7) A different Lara
8) Great Platforming mechanics
Cons:
1) Story, kind off weak
2) More focus on Stealth than Gunplay
3) Main game Tombs are super easy, DLC Tombs are visually great but..requires 10 mins of thinking to sort out.
4) Optimization, need better PC
5) Could have been better with more enemy variations and better customizations (both are lacking)
6) Evade system kinda sucks but not too bad
7) Killing animals is actually harder in this game, than killing human enemies..lol!
Overall, A good game..I enjoyed it, as a Tomb Raider fan and if you liked it's predecessors, you should definitely play it.
