Mit knapp 1 Stunde Spielzeit ein etwas längerer Nachfolger vom kostenlosen Teil 1. Ich mochte das skurrile Artwork und die seltsamen Bewohner der Planeten, wie auch schon in Teil 1. Auch hier wurden die Grafiken 15 Jahre später aufgehübscht, das Passwort-System wurde von einem Speicher-System abgelöst. Für 4,99 € etwas zu teuer, aber im Angebot definitiv eine Überlegung wert.

Endlich bin ich dazu gekommen, Samorost 2 zu spielen. So ein süßes kleines Spiel, kurz, aber mit Rätseln, die es in sich haben. Wie immer funktioniert das Spiel rein intuitiv und kommt ganz ohne Anleitung aus.

Amanita Design gelingt es einfach immer wieder, etwas Einzigartiges zu schaffen. Klein aber fein. Im Sale unbedingt mitnehmen.

Der 2005 erschienene zweite Teil, seit 2020 in einer Remastered-Version erhältlich, wobei man als Besitzer der alten Version automatisch upgegradet wurde, wie es scheint. Wie hat es mir gefallen, als ich es so nochmal spielte?

Geschichte

Unser Held, eine Art kleiner Prinz auf seinem Asteroiden, muss seinen Hund retten, der von Fremden entführt worden ist.

Die Geschichte ist relativ kurz, aber recht nett erzählt (zusammenhängender als in Teil 1). Es wirkt irgendwie wie Der kleine Prinz meets Alice im Wunderland.

Gameplay

Wie bei Samorost üblich ist es ein Click-, Click- und Click-Spiel, d.h. ähnlich einem üblichen Point&Click, klickt man eben auf alles, was der Mauszeiger als anklickbar anzeigt und es wird sich die Lösung ergeben.

Na gut, etwas mehr Überlegung ist schon sinnig, manchmal ergibt es sich aber erst im Nachhinein, warum wund wie es gemeint war. Schwer ist es nirgendwo.

Technik

Die Remastered-Version macht aus einem sehr simplen Browsergame ein hübsches Spiel.

Die Grafik liebt man entweder oder man kann nichts damit anfangen. Relativ gut ist sie schon.

Der Sound ist minimal. Die Bedienung mit der Maus trivial.

Sonstiges

Das Spiel ist klein und man kann es in einer guten Stunde durchspielen.

Die Remastered-Version bietet nun auch Errungenschaften, die alle beim Durchspielen automatisch freigeschaltet werden. Jedenfalls hatte ich auf Anhieb alle.

Code In Zahlen für mich persönlich ein Unterhaltungswert von 7/10.

Samorost hat seinen ganz eigenen Stil. Niedlich könnte man wohl sagen oder seltsam. Wirklich mein Geschmack trifft es nicht, aber ich habe es (beim zweiten Mal) doch gerne gespielt.

Dies ist mein subjektiver Spieleindruck. Für meine Wertung zählt, wie gut es mich unterhalten hat. Entsprechend der Daumen nach oben oder unten, abhängig davon, ob ich es einem ähnlich gesinnten Spieler weiterempfehle. Der Spieleindruck eines anderen Spielers kann aber durchaus stark davon abweichen.

Ein sehr kurzes aber sehr lohnenswertes Spiel - Amanita Design überzeugt mich seit jeher mit seinen Artwork, Ideenreichtum, sowie Musik und Atmophere!
Immer sind es schöne Geschichten und knifflige Rätzel.

Einziger Manko: Manche Gegenstände sind nur von bestimmten Positionen aus anklickbar was zu Kopfzerbrechen führt - aber solche Fehler dürfen in den ersten Spielen ja noch vorkommen :)

Samorost 2 ist ein kleines Flashgame in dem der Spieler nur sehr begrenzte Interaktionsmöglichkeiten hat. Es läuft mehr wie ein kleiner Film ab in dem man hier und da etwas anklicken kann, damit es weiter geht.
Dabei ist die Soundkulisse und das Artdesign Hauptbestandteil für eine kurze, aber intensive Immersion. Immerhin erreicht man schon nach ca. 45 Minuten den Abspann.
Durch die kurze Spielzeit und die sehr einfache Spielmechanik kann ich das Spiel nur bedingt weiterempfehlen, z.b. in einem Sale oder Bundle.

Der Nachfolger zu einem kostenlosen Flashgame, das ihr auch einmal spielen solltet.
Das Spiel erzählt eine Geschichte ohne Dialoge. Man kommt in seltsame Gebiete und kann dann HotSpots anklicken um zu sehen was passiert.

Durchaus interessant für Leute die gerne etwas entdecken :)

"Samorost 2" is a short Point and Click game in which you guide (ig it is his name) Samorost through his new adventure.
You meeet old friends from Part 1, their are new charas aswell!
The Artwork was okay, just not my stye, the sounds were good.
The game mechanics were very simple and easy to understand. It is simply point and click.
It only took me 1.3 hours to finish the game with all achievments (they are not missable).
I did buy it on Sale for 0.99€, which is pretty cheap tho.
It is free, try it out!

Samorost 2 is a good follow-up to the first game. It continues the series' surreal environments with its interesting puzzles, unique art design och relaxing soundtrack.

You once again play as the Czech cartoon guy, but this time your dog is kidnapped by aliens! The game is a bit longer than the first one, with various environments and puzzles. Despite lack of text or anything besides visual clues, you can follow a story as you progress.

Excited for what Samorost 3 has to bring, as well as the rest of the games from the developers!

A THINKING-TINKERING KIND OF GAME

I love mechanical-type puzzles, the ones where you have to adjust valves and tinker with gears, water levels, or electrical components to solve them. Samorost 2 fit the bill with lots of mechanical-type puzzles to solve, in fact, everything about this adventure was a quest requiring a little bit of tinkering and a lot of "outside the box" thinking! But then again, I've never been abducted by Aliens...allegedly.

This is a thinking-tinkering adventure quest, heck, it's more like an Escape the [strike] Room [/strike] er, Planet game!

Sanorost embarks on an intergalactic quest in the middle of the night to retrieve his retriever from pup-poaching Aliens. He boards his not-quite-so-trusty Rocket Ship and travels to a not-so-distant planet, where he quickly discovers that he needs help figuring out the lay of the land, so to speak,...(AKA the person behind the mouse controller; you, the player, and undoubtedly the mastermind of "Operation Where's Betty White When You Need Her?"

Each level Samorost progresses to is a puzzle that needs to be solved by tinkering with various sections of the scene. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be anything solvable because this game is different than typical Adventure games where you scour the scene searching for a useful object to help you progress. In this game, I found it helpful to just sit back for a moment and watch how "things that go bump in the alien night" interact within the scene or with each other. After watching the scene, you will probably notice a pattern or skill set that something has.

The tasks are solved logically but in an Alien way. The developer did an amazing job of creatively "thinking outside the box" and using elements within the scene itself. I can honestly say that I didn't need a walkthrough to solve this game and was still able to complete the game in 1.2 hours! I enjoyed every minute of the game and didn't feel frustrated at any point...that's what I call great entertainment!

I believe, Samorost 2 is where the franchise starts excelling. The hallucinogenic atmosphere is toned down, but the quirky art style and story is still present. The puzzles become harder, and actually challenging and the length of the game increased tenfold.
I loved the art style, it is extremely unique without trying to hard (compared to the previous Samorost). The sound track was extremely relaxing and created a wonderful atmosphere to just sit back and chill. The puzzles were not too difficult, although difficult enough that it presented a bit of a challenge. The story was really cute, and well represented without the use of any word dialogue.
Achievements were super easy to get, just progress through the story for 100% completion and the level select (which was later introduced) made it extremely easy to revisit.

Overall, the game lasted 45 minutes for me and was a relaxing experience I would not turn down. A massive improvement from Samarost 1.

What an incredibly short game. My bad for not looking at the reviews and game description. Assumed it'd be just like Machinarium. I got it on sale for $1.59, so it's alright for that price. Not for $5, though.

Amanita Design is one of the best developers for point and click adventure games in the modern day. Samorost 2 consists of pure whimsical curiosity - and since being remastered in 2020, it looks and sounds better than ever.

Extremely short game but cute. I probably could have beat the game in much shorter of a time, but I was running into a problem where the mouse would not work unless I go full screen then back to windowed, and set on full screen the mouse never worked for me. Not sure why cycling would get it to work for a time, but glad that it did. From what I can tell, there is no failure, nor stakes in the game. It is a fun little experience with some child friendly puzzles.

I recommend this game for youngsters or those just looking for a cute artistic game that is about 30 minutes long.

TLDR: cute and short point-and-click game, very similar to Samorost 1, albeit slightly longer. [15/20]

I feel I could repeat my review for the remaster of Samorost 1 for this enhanced version of Samorost 2, except that it is slightly longer and more expensive. I also hadn’t played the original Samorost 2 before, so no nostalgia goggles from the Flash age.

The visuals and soundtrack are cute and pretty unique (similar to Samorost 1), as typical with Amanita Design. The “plot” doesn’t have much to it, but there are some amusing moments.

I didn’t find the gameplay particularly engaging. It is pure point-and-click with a lot of pixel hunt and some (slightly annoying) timed sequences, but nothing too complex that can’t be handled through trial and error. And it is mostly trial and error since without narrative or dialogs there’s not really much to guide the player.

The game is pretty short. According to Steam, my playtime was 50 minutes, and for about 10 of those I was unknowingly stuck due to a bug [spoiler](kettle was stuck)[/spoiler]. Whether that is worth 5€ is up to each one. I bought at a discount and was a bit disappointed (reviews said this one was longer than Samorost 1, although that wasn’t technically false).

So, this is a border line recommendation, hoping that I don’t regret it moving on to Samorost 3.

If anyone has seen my Samorost 1 review, it's more of the same. Really cute point-and-click adventure, surreal space gnome having adventures. It's a little longer, closer to an hour or more. Arguably, the puzzles are harder too. And you can earn little achievements, none of them missable. You can download a free soundtrack available for it as well. Overall, a nice, cute little game on the cheap.

A cult classic adventure game you must try before Samorost 3

Samorost 2 is a sequel to the original free-to-play Samorost, an online Flash cult classic game created by Jakub Dvorsky long time ago. This sequel has been developed by Amanita Design (Jakub Dvorsky's indie game studio), same company responsible for other well-known titles such as Machinarium or CHUCHEL. Samorost 2 is a great point-and-click adventure game where once again, you play as the same small gnome character from the first game, on a quest to save your stolen dog. Along the way you’ll encounter some very bizarre and stranger creatures.

Short and simple, this is a game you can complete in a single afternoon. As in the previous game, the player moves from one enchanting level to another after solving inventive puzzles or overcoming obstacles. Most puzzles are just pixel hunts, because essentially all you need to do is hit the few hotspots in the right order. Sadly, the lack of a proper hint system makes some ilolligical parts quite hard but in the other hand some of them are pretty obvious as well.

The world you explore is so enchanting, with the same art direction as the original with touches of Asian influence. The game's backgrounds often combine organic with inorganic elements and each scene in the game contains movement, and the creatures, gadgets, plants and insects are beautifully animated. There is hardly any text or dialog in the game and little voice-acting in form of non-legible utterances. The music was composed by Tomáš Dvořák, and like what he did for the previous game, the soundtracks in Samorost 2 are pleasant to listen to.

All in all, this game as a single piece isn't so bad but neither so great. However, Samorost is a worthy series that fully deserves your support. You would like to play this one and the original game title before to really go for Samorost 3, a real masterpiece from the new era.

It's cute and adorable and of course following on from Samorost it's clear this is one of
Amanita Design's first games - but honestly - it's just adorable.. Strange and quirky and not long at all.. I DID get stuck on a few things, but I think that was just me being ditsy.. Easy achievements - you get them as you play the game.. Slightly longer than the first game, but cute story.. It leads into the third rather well..

TLDR; If you're yet to try the series buy Samorost 3. If you're looking to see the series' roots, this truly shows you what makes 3 so good.

While this game holds much of the DNA which makes Samorost beautiful, weird and unforgettably charming if you are coming here after playing the wonderfully polished Samorost 3 you might be disappointed.

Compared to Samorost 3's intuitive movement, clear click points and incredible integration between graphics, music and puzzles, this game feels almost wrong... You often find yourself pixel hunting (not knowing where to click) or just feeling completely lost by the puzzles without any air of intuition about them.

One example is the strangely inconsistent mechanics: sometimes you click to pick up, sometimes you pick up and drag the object to the character, sometimes you cannot pick things up but have to interact directly...

In short, it's confusing, lacking the higher level polish of 3 and doesn't quite reach the heights of 3. Thus, don't go in expecting more of the same. That said, it's beautiful to see the progression from Samorost 1 to 3 while supporting this fantastic studio.

Samorost 2 is slightly longer and has more puzzles than Samorost 1. If you enjoyed the first game then there is no reason you wouldn't enjoy this one. This is a good sequel.

I really enjoy the Samorost games. They're fun point and click adventures with an unusual, surreal motif, quirky characters, and a great soundtrack. The puzzles in Samorost 2 are fun to figure out but there seems to be a fatal flaw with the game that makes me regretfully give it a negative review.

Sometimes whatever particular room you're in becomes bugged and none of your actions actually work. I found restarting the level and hoping the commands I issue will take fixes it but sometimes it gets bugged again. I think it may have something to do with issuing too many commands at once but I could be wrong. This is basically a cardinal sin for a point and click game since you're going to be clicking around everything trying to figure out what to do. Because of this bug, you could be clicking the correct object needed in order to progress but your clicks won't register as the game is in a sort of locked state. This makes playing the game understandably frustrating since you won't be able to progress but you won't know that you can't proceed unless you've already played the game before and know what to do and recognized that it's in a bugged state.

I'm not sure if this bug was exclusive to me but I can't in good faith recommend Samorost 2 or at least this version of it unless that particular bug is fixed. It pains me to do so because it really is a great adventure but it might be worth skipping this one and just moving onto Samorost 3.

A very short and sweet oldschool point & click game, made even more appealing with a remaster. Some puzzles are quite annoying to solve, so if you get stuck it would be in your best interest to just look up a walktrough. But other than that, you'll have a good time.

This is a fun little click and point game. I think some of the puzzle solutions are not very intuitive or obvious. I recommend not getting frustrated and just look them up if you get stuck. The best part of this game is the artwork. The art is detailed, pleasant to look at, and a real success. This game can be beat in about an hour.

As is the way with everything Amanita touch, this is a pure gem. I played the hell out of Samorost 2 way back in the flash days and still, all these years later, frequently return to soak up the atmosphere of this charming little adventure.

There's something to be said for a point and click that doesnt use dialogue or text to drive the story, it allows the design and atmosphere to thrive. Samorost 2 (along with all of Amanita's games) has such unique character and charm that most video games could only dream of.
You can tell when someone takes pride and joy in their craft, when they're in tune with the direction of a design. Samorost 2 is that; these people created something sweet and beautiful, something for us to just get lost within.

I love this little game.

Lovely adventure game. Playtime is around 80 minutes. The riddles are easy to solve. It is more like viewing an animated little movie.

A short and sweet point-n-click puzzler.

In Samorost 2 you guide a space gnome on a quest across a couple of bizarre asteroids in order to rescue your dog from some aliens who dognapped him. As you explore the asteroids and meet their wacky inhabitants, you'll have to solve a few puzzles in order to progress. It's not overly difficult, certainly more straightforward than their other games that I've tried, but it's challenging enough to be engaging and personally I prefer not to be left scratching my head anyway. It doesn't take long to finish but it's a lovely little adventure and I think it's well worth experiencing.

It originally came out in 2005 and received a 15th anniversary update this year to improve the graphics, add achievements and tweak/improve a few other minor things. I believe this the earliest of Amanita's games available on Steam, and the first Samorost game is only available online.

Pros:

Lovely art.
Humorous sound effects.
Short and sweet.
Engaging puzzles.

Cons:

one that I can think of.

- Art and atmosphere is cozy, on brand for the studio
- Music is good
- Puzzles are not logic-based, so not particularly rewarding
- Game is short (~1.5hrs)
- There's an obscure bug in latest Proton that prevents you from progressing, but no issue in Proton 5.0

Not bad for $1.24

Samorost series are fine examples of surrealism art combined with point and click adventure.

This is the 2nd of the series, though using the same protagonist, the story isn't related to the 1st so you don't really need to play it before hand and will be able to enjoy 2 as it is.

You can play the first series for free at their homepage, but it require flash player that will no longer be supported after 31st December 2020. So be quick if you want to play it, else you will have to wait for the dev to release it here on steam. Samorost 1 is about less than 10 minutes game play so it won't take long to finish anyway.

Super fun game, worth the price for an hour of entertainment. Played with my siblings, it was fun to problem solve together, and the graphics are beautiful! 10/10 recommend.

Compared to the original flash game from 2003, this is an improvement.

Released in 2005 it got remastered in 2020. Just recently!

People have to understand what they are getting into or else you get the top reviews for this game, pathetic triple A addicts.

The art is amazing but the only gripe I have with the gameplay is the frustrating timing jump with the parachute!
It's like you have to have Spider-man's spider senses and reflexes to catch the 0.0001 second window. Frustrating.

Now I'm off to Samorost 3.

Cute little puzzle game about a man and his dog.. which got kidnapped by aliens.

It's a very short game of only a few scenes. Puzzles involve a lot of pixel hunting and some require you to closely time your actions, so beware of that.

Like all Amanita Design games, it wins by its art style and presentation.

I love Amanita animations. They are full of whimsical and silly little details that delight. The game is pretty simple to play but lots of things to do and get in the right order. Completely enchanting and entertaining.

Samorost 2 is short.
It's going to resonate differently with each individual.
It is from the makers of Machinarium.
I found Machinarium easier than this one, but it hasn't got such a sad ending than the former.
You got no hints as in Machinarium and this time you are a little dwarf on your mission to save your dog from alien abuse.
Some people rightly complain that too often objects seem to fall out of thin air rather than having an understandable mechanism behind it (unlike Machinarium and the first half of Samorost2).

It has some pros and cons

Pros:
+ nice visuals
+ weird, bizarre world and atmosphere
+ great music & sound effects
+ cute main character
+ cute story (it's cute, and well communicated without words)
+ funny ending scene

Cons:
- too many timing-based puzzles
- too many mediocre puzzles
- non-intuitive interface
- very tiny play area
- weak plot
- way too short

Overall this game is short but sweet and beautiful point and click adventure.

And OH MY DOG! :)

The game looks great, but it's realy frustrating. It often doesn't respond to clicks and I had to restart many levels again and again. After looking up a walkthough and finding out I was doing the right thing, but it just didn't work 90% of the time, I quit. I got 2/3 through the game in half an hour.
It's pretty sad because the game looks as interesting as Amanitas other titles. You should try it, if you got it from a bundle, but only for the cute artstyle and animations.

I love all the games by Amanita Design. All of their games are wholesome, fun, and unique and this is no exception. The update adds some achievements. Very smol and quick game, but worth playing and replaying. The first game is available to play on their website for free, or at least it used to be. 10/10 recommend.

Give me back my dog!

In Samorost 2, you play as a space gnome who has to rescue his dog from a bunch of alien kidnappers. To do this, you solve simple and fun logic puzzles, adventuring through a variety of well crafted locations to rescue first your dog, and then you. It's a great game for a lazy afternoon, plus it has a great soundtrack. It is short, but it's also cheap. If that isn't enough recommendation for you, I don't know how else to sell it.

A little man with a big story

A little puzzle for one night. The game smoothly tells a good story that makes you feel warm. If you haven't played any games from Amanita design yet, this game will take you like no other to the world of little men with a big story.

Beautiful short game. The only issue I had with it is that you can't actually have it full screen, it's more of a flash window type which makes it a bit hard to see certain details. 9/10 from me

1.7 hours for me. Casual game play as you solve your way to the final scene. I really enjoyed the adventure. Interesting ideas for the puzzle techniques. I liked that :D Very creative thinking.

Beautiful to look at and enjoyable to play. I found it relaxing.

If you were wonder why is the first Samorost not on Steam, that's because it is a free to play browser game on Amanita Design's official website. The first game was phenomenal for the time it was released at (2003). Blending drawings with photographs of nature and technology creating beautiful graphics. Such art design is unique for this series.

Now with Samorost 2, it still has the unique art style of nature, technology, and cartoons. The game is longer, there are more puzzles, a new story, and better music. Puzzles were difficult at times but can be solved.

If you like point and click games, unique art styles, short games, and/or you played the first Samorost, you should buy this game when it is on sale for a low price.

A short game that is ok if you can get it with a big discount. Machinarium is much much better in every aspect.
