Saints Row 2 ist im weitesten Sinne ein Action-Adventure und Third-Person-Shooter. Die ganze Geschehen spielt in der Großstadt Stilwater. Im Spiel schlüpft der Spieler in die Rolle eines selbst zu erstellenden Spielers. Das Spielprinzip ähnelt stark der Grand Theft Auto-Reihe. Das Game wird voraussichtlich im Oktober 2008 erscheinen.

Positiv:
- Charaktererstellung sehr detailliert
- Musik gut

Negativ:
- ständige Abstürze machen das Spiel unspielbar!

Fazit:
Auf Saints Row 2 habe ich mich gefreut, aber da dieses Spiel ständig bei kleineren Dingen abstürzt, ist es für mich unspielbar geworden. Das erste Mal traten diese Abstürze schon im Tutorial auf. Ich kam tatsächlich bis zur ersten Mission und von da an wurde es immer schlimmer mit den Abstürzen. Selbst die Tipps aus dem Internet und herunterdrosseln der Grafik hat nichts genützt.
Schade da mir schon die Charaktererstellung sehr gut gefiel. Diese war nämlich sehr detailliert und man konnte fast alles am Aussehen einstellen. Des Weiteren fand ich die Musik gar nicht mal so schlecht.
Grafisch ist das Spiel schon etwas älter, hätte aber trotzdem seinen Charme gehabt.
Leider: Nicht Empfehlenswert!!!!

Absolute Frechheit so einen schlecht optimierten Port für Geld anzubieten. Wenn man ein Spiel erst noch selber modden muss damit es nicht mehr ständig abstürzt und ruckelt ist es einfach nur Zeitverschwendung.

In case anyone doesn't know. A huge fan of SR devoted his time to making the SR2 pc port work as best he can on PC using all the modding tools available. This fan was such a huge help to the community and showed so much talent that Volition hired him. He was community manager, doing the twitter stuff and working on things here and there. One of those things being his 7 year search for the original source code for saints row 2's pc port after it was lost. When he finally found it, it meant that he could actually make his favourite saints row game and the reason he was working at Volition actually playable after 13 years now. He worked on the game for about 2 years with one other dev with him, until he contracted cancer. This actual unit spent his last days on earth working on this project because it was his lifes project AND VOLITION PROMISED HIM that they would release it. And after so long, and so much silence, are we to assume they lied to him? wtf volition. fuck the reboot

Last decent SR game after the 1st SR
If you can try to get PS/Xbox version instead of this $hita$$ PC port
Also if you want to suffer on PC port I would recommend Gentlemen of the Row mod

saints row 2 is the best saints row game in the entire series. it has amazing customization options, a good story that ranges from decent to awesome at times, cool supporting characters, and much more. it's a shame that they've never tried to remake this game or at least follow this game's formula more closely with the future installments. the completion process was fun and easy, it definitely took me like an extra 10 hours than it needed to because the game is that fun, i avoided doing it more efficiently because i wanted to spend more time with the game. that alone says it all.

Before i played Saints Row 2, i had a big boobs, lot's of friends, girlfriends and boyfriends, no depression, and absolutely amazing life. These things haven't changed, but the game is pretty good.

Больше всего мне нравится в этой игре то, что можно убить человека шваброй или забить насмерть микроволновкой, затем украсть грузовик и врезаться на нём в толпу, зайти в университет и расстрелять две дюжины человек, а потом прийти домой и поиграть в Saints Row 2. (ШУТКА!!!)
Если серьезно, то, хоть эта игра и не блещет оптимизацией, но она невероятно затягивает, количество трэша и угара на экране не будет убавляться по мере прохождения. И при этом сохраняется идеальный баланс между претенцизионной серьезностью сюжета про криминалов всех сортов (от страховых мошенников до наркобаронов) и совсем уже гротескной комедией с карикатурными фриками и избиениями противников фаллосами. В первый раз я прошёл игру за 40 часов, а второй раз - за 65 рублей. И, скажу я вам, на некоторых миссиях (каких именно спойлерить не буду) не грех и слезу пустить.
Итак, что мы имеем:
-плохую оптимизацию
-такую себе физику и графику
-отсутствие внятного мультиплеера ибо сервера гейм.спая сдохли 10 лет назад;
-частые вылеты
-лок в 50 фпс
-стрёмное управление
+великолепный геймплей где не стыдно страдать фигнёй
+абсолютная свобода действий
+лучшая (на мой взгляд) система кастомизации из игр вообще (базарю, лучше чем в симс)
+прекрасные моды
+хороший саундтрек (правда качество звука подпортилось с целью сжатия и без того внушительной игры)
+кастомизация апартаментов и тачек
+множество миссий и побочек, которые ПРОСТО АФИГЕННО проходить!

Its a really great story line and possibly better than the other saints rows however the port is awful. The game constantly crashes so you cant even experience the game. Maybe after the reboot, volition might make a remastered for saints row 1 and 2, i hope so.

Good game, but also one of the worst ports I've ever played in my life. Even with the Gentlemen of the Row mod which fixes some of the stability issues and adds some extra content, it can and *will* crash at random intervals often with no rhyme or reason, and even though there are some workarounds like launching the game in borderless fullscreen and forcing Vsync on Windows Media Player (yes, seriously) which can help limit the frequency of those crashes, there's only so much you can do to delay the inevitable.

There's many other issues with this port as well, such as the completely butchered audio mixing during cutscenes, incredibly inconsistent framerate issues, and the fact that the PC version is also running on an older build than the console versions, which means that it's missing certain features and has none of the DLC.

There's talks that Volition managed to retrieve the code for the PC version a couple years back and were planning on fixing the port as a side project, but with IdolNinja's recent passing (RIP) who created the GotR mod and was also leading the project, as well as two years of silence from Volition with no estimated release date, it remains to be seen as to whether anything will come out of it.

It's such a busted port and it should never have released in the state that it did. This game deserved much better.

I wouldn't recommend this game on Steam if you are:
-impatient
-uninterested on installing mods to fix the game
-not used to frame drops (e.x from 70 to 35 in 0.5 second)
-you own a console
----
the problem with the game is that you will crash constantly every 20 to 30mins. the only seem to be a solution to that is you play on borderless window and install a mod called 'gentlemen of the row'. the mod will slightly fix the crash and frame issues, however, you must save at least every 2 to 4 missions to avoid losing game progress, and highly advised that you restart the game after completing a mission or an activity. properties-purchased, chop-shop & hitman missions are not saved by the auto-save.

if you own a console, please don't buy the game on steam. unlike console, you don't have to deal with crashes every 20-30mins and not forced to install mods to improve the game performance.

honestly this game is such a legendary comparing this to other saints row games (3 and 4) and so the 'up-coming' reboot. it's just a shame i couldnt really enjoy this game with these cons plus a terrible pc port. atleast I have patience enough to restart my progress every crash.

IdolNinja, one the most caring persons for the game and the guy that loved the franchise spending a lot of time on the game, to the point were he was hired to work on volition, died from stage 4 cancer on August 25 2021. After fighting the cancer for a long time, it returned, this time taking his life.

Rest in peace Idol, this game will pass on history with your name on it.

Even with this being a godawful port this is still the best Saints Row game made. I can only hope that Volition fulfills their promise to IdolNinja and fixes the pc port, When that happens I will change this review to a recomend.

It's a really good game. I played it on the PS3 back in 2011 and still looks acceptable in this PC port. Totally worth it. There are some patches to download in some pages so you will fix a couple glitches and you won't suffer from crazy frame drops during the gameplay. Buy it before another unexpected remaster or possible delisted game in the future. Thanks for reading my opinion and have a nice day.

Amazing story, I remember playing this game when I was younger. Game is a lil buggy but if you download mods and turn off HDR you should be fine. Well worth the time & money >:)

It runs a bit rough but despite that it's still a pretty awesome GTA-like series. This entry is pretty solid with a kick ass campaign, good music, fun stages, and lots of sweet things to do. It's a bit buggy and clunky though so could definitely do with a nice little remaster some day maybe?

Don't be fooled by my Steam play time. I have owned this game on Xbox since 08 and have never got bored of it. I probably have 1000s of hours logged total. Its a good game, story, lore and game play. I only recently got round to buying it on PC. It is such a good game but the PC port does it injustice. This can be fixed as you will see below.

To make it playable on PC, you will need to install the Gentlemen of the row mod, just google it, it has many language support. Unfortunately whoever did the PC port, as this is originally a console game, did a awful Job. The company who made this is working to make a patch but as they only just found the lost source code back in November 2020, about 6 months ago at the time of this review, it may take some time. So if you don't want to mod, you will hopefully have a way to soon.

Also, you may have to run it windowed as on some but not all PC it will flicker on full screen mode and unfortunately no mod fixes that.

Even with all this, it is so worth it.

I love this game very much and I think it is the best Saints Row out of the franchise. However, I cannot recommend it because of the well known problem with the PC port. I managed to optimize it and play it at a good frame rate with Gentlemen of the Row mod and a few tweaks, but I would have to save every 40-60 minutes or it would randomly crash at the end of the mission or in the middle of the cutscenes.
Does it really take that much to fix this game? I see the devs put a lot of effort in remastering the now overpriced SR3, but cannot fix the problem with this one? I doubt it isn't possible to stick to their promise. It's a shame because the game truly is amazing.

It's Saints Row 2, get Idolninja's Gentleman of the Row and add it to your game, it'll make it run a little more stably and do be a compulsive saver, save at every opportunity possible.

Buy it, fix it, then play it, you may find it to be a pretty great experience. Do be forewarned that the non-modded version of this has always been pretty terrible performance-wise as it was never well optimized and most certainly rushed to release (since this was made with consoles in mind first and foremost).

Also **** those who think Saints Row is a gta rip-off, it's so much better than that with customization, fun side-jobs, and an absolutely bonkers story.

A true spiritual successor to San Andreas. When Rockstar made gta4 I felt the franchise was turning away from a funny game with okay story telling to a more serious tone with a lot of the customization taken away. Saints Row 2 has a ton customization options from tricking out golf carts, to learning new fighting styles and plastic surgery to make you look like a grotesque mess. Rockstar decided to take the different route and make a more true to life game taking away a lot of what made gta fun for me. Although more realistic and enjoyable in its own right GTA4 is just not what i expected coming out of san andreas. Now saints row 2 has practically everything that made San Andreas an incredible sandbox and just added more to it. The variety in this game is ridiculous. Various gangs to fight over territories for. Stupid fun weapons like the satchel charge and pimpcane shotgun. Oddjobs and tons of neat vehicles to customize and wreck instantly when you hit the noz. Also the soundtrack is pretty bangin. All in all this game is amazing, and its a shame that not too many have played this before. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a turn your brain off and shoot some dudez while on the couch.

I am going to try and be as unbiased as possible, but seeing as this is my favorite game (along with The Sims 3), I am probably going to fail, either way, here goes.

(Note: This review is about the game in general, not steam's release current state, as IdolMaster is working on a re-release for the game)

Graphics (7/10):
Saints Row 2's graphics may be outdated by today's standards, which for a 2008 game makes total sense, it's textures may not be the highest quality, but look fairly good because of it's art style, even compared to it's successor. But what it may lack in texture fidelity it makes up in lighting and shadows, as there are really well done for the time the game was released.

Gameplay (7/10):
The physics in this game are really weird and take some time to get used to, the driving feels floaty and quite unpredictable at times. The gunplay is quite basic but works well, realism isn't the main aspect of the Saints Row series as a general, but it's arcade gameplay is really fun most of the time.

Customization (10/10):
I feel like Saints Row 2's main aspect is the customization, as it takes a giant focus in this game, and I absolutely love it. Character customization is unrivaled by any other game (maybe APB Reloaded, but I ain't going into that territory), even The Sims 3 can't touch it, you can change every aspect of you character looks with great depth, layered clothing that are completely customizable in terms of color and style, most parts have the option to put logos on, and considering how grounded it is compared to it's successor, even in this game there are some weird and funny clothing if you're feeling like it.
Vehicle customization is pretty basic when compared to racing games, but for sand box games of it's type, it has a lot of variety, mainly considering the time of it's release, there weren't many games in the genre that had car customization, and the ones which had didn't really go as in-depth as Saints Row 2.
It also has some home customization and gang customization, even if they are not as in-depth as the other aspects of customization in the game, at least it has any, and that's great.

Story (9/10):
Following the steps of the first Saints Row, it keeps the story grounded, but with much more depth than the first one, considering that now the protagonist has a personality and is really motivated, and at times even kind of psychotic, this gives the game a better sense of emotion, even with a darker and grimy tone at times, giving the player a better sense of accomplishment by the acts done in control of the protagonist.

Content (10/10):
Along with the deep story it has, the game has a lot of side activities, diversions and secrets, a bigger and better variety than any other game in the series, and a world with lots of interiors to explore, lots of object to interact with, and even characters to some extent.

Issues and bugs:
The steam port of the game is infamous for having horrible performance and a lot of engine bugs, some which can be fixed by the use of mods, like The Gentlemen Of The Row pack, by IdolNinja himself who helped in the development of the game, and as I said earlier, is working on a re-release for the game, which everyone who already own the game will receive free of charge when he eventually releases it.
The PC versions of the game never received any of the DLC's the game has in the console versions, but just like the fixes, these too will come to PC on the re-release.
In vanilla form, the game tends to crash A LOT, and I'm not over exaggerating it, before applying the fixes suggested in the PCGamingWiki page for Saints Row 2, and the fix I ended up trying by myself, which is playing the game on windowed mode, but using the Borderless Gaming app, the game used to be kind of unplayable as it crashed every half an hour or so. It's yet to crash even once after I applied the windowed mode fix.

Conclusion:
The game in it's current state suffers from a lot of (fixable) issues, lacks the content it's consoles counterparts have, and it's gameplay may not be everyones cup of tea, but even considering all that, I would still recommend it to the people who have the patience to apply the fixes it need, and to those who don't I suggest you wait and grab it as soon as it get's it's re-release, because this game deserves a lot to be played.

Final Rating: 8.6/10

Is definitely the worst way to play this great game due to the awful optimisation and consistent crashing. Modability is good and fixes some issues but the game still is broken. Hoping that when the patch eventually comes out the pc version is better than the console versions but for now i'll just keep replaying it on the xbox one

Saints Row 2 itself is a great game but the Steam version is garbage. The Steam version is extremely unstable and crashes frequently. GameSpy also shutdown a while back which killed the Co-Op functionality that was built into the game. There was a workaround for playing Co-Op without GameSpy, but Steam's latest update did something on the backend which made the workaround no longer function properly. Overall, a great game that has been destroyed by Steam's inability to provide a stable version.

EDIT: Thank you for the explanation regarding the stability issues, A Cee Tee. With those details in mind, my issue is with the stability of the PC version, not the Steam version. I look forward to a patch.

Не смотря на невероятно убогий порт с консолей, включающий в себя душегубное управление, неведомо страшную оптимизацию и частое подлагивание, и, конечно же, радости вроде машин которые материализуються из атомов с расстояния три метра, НО только со стороны света куда вы смотрите, так как сзади вас ничего не будет спавнится. Это также значит что если камеру повернуть назад, то можно будет ехать спокойно по встречке не боясь трафика - ибо он исчезнет...

И... Что? А вот. Не смотря на всё это, Сэйнтс Роу 2 - одна из самых лучших игр по модели ГТА которые я вообще играл когда-то. Редко я видал такое разнообразие миссий и побочных развлекух. В этом плане с этой игрой тягатся может разве что Bully.

Даже помимо обычных пострелушек и катаний на тачках (которые тоже веселые), здесь есть, например, Бои без Правил, где можно подбирать стулья, бутылки, людей и прочий мусор и кинуть всё это добро в кого-то или просто воспользоваться этим как своеобразно тупым Эскалибуром. К тому-же эти бои можно устраивать где угодно, хоть на улице. Эта же веселая боевка также применима, например, в роли телохранителя порнозвёзд, где немытых и небритых неудачников можно кидать в комбайны смерти или отправить в незабываемый полёт до конца жизни с небоскрёба. Перечислять возможные способы само-развлечения можно долго.

И куча прочих развлекух помимо взрывов, гонок и телесных полетов. Миссиям также не чуждо насыщенное разнообразие. Да и сюжет тут на самом деле крутой. Ну, его можно ограничить одним предложением - зло пробудилось и уничтожает или поробащает менее большое или просто более убогое зло. Но чёрт возьми, какие же тут клёвые катсцены. Хоть и сейчас Сэйнтс Роу опопснел и считается трешовой серией бреда, вторая часть умело смогла сбалансить юмор и антиуныние, и мрачный, жесткий сюжетец про Гангстеров. Одним из самых обидных решений было отказатся от тематики первых двух частей в пользу вакханалии. А зря, ибо эта часть в плане крутости и, кхм, не смейтесь - смысла - легко уделывает те же гта, которые все считают сюжетно самыми взрослыми играми жанра.

Что еще похвалить? Самая разнообразная и сочная кастомизация персонажа в подобных песочницах. Я приобалдел когда вглянулся и заметил что все npc тут не заранее сделанные модельки, а сгенерированные персы, которые носят одежду, которую можно купить и себе. Тоесть если увидели бомжа наркоса, можете своего перса сделать идеальной копией этого джентельмена. Можно даже изменить стиль боя, типо Кунг-Фу чёрт или Укуренный-Вуду дрочь. Также полно разнообразного оружия, которое, справдливости ради, отличается разве что звуками выстрелов и анимацией. А учитывая что это опять консольный порт, то враги максимально тупы и ленивы, убивать которых глоком с хэдшотами будет весьма просто - с мышкой, конечно.

Вобщем, чертовски веселая вешь, которая своим разнообразием и зашкаливающим количеством няшности растапливает меня и заставляет простить даже своё консольное уродство и отсталость.

This is a damn rollercoaster of a game. This game is by far one of the BEST games ever. However, it is riddled with layers of bugs and glitches. This game constantly crashes randomly when you enter vehicles too. The helicopter work in this game is horrendous to use too. This game is so damn good but it can be so much better. I had as much fun as frustration in this game. Anyway this game is rumored to have a remastered so hopefully all the bugs will be fixed. I only recommend this game for patient people. Understand that this is a really old game and the pc port sucks. Otherwise, the missions and story are a treat to indulge in.

Greatest GTA clone of all time.

SR2 has everything you could ever want and more. Such a variety in missions and activities, endless customization, the world is vibrant and very alive, storyline is great and humor is spot-on.

Sadly the port is awful, but hey, it didn't stop me, don't let it stop you.

I wanted so badly to be able to give this a good review. Awesome game! I would have loved to play through the whole thing. The problem is that it runs horribly on Windows 10. There are so many bugs that it gets to the point where you can't even play it without it crashing. I even tried the Gentlemen of the Row mod, but to no avail. The game still crashed at crucial points. Would love to play it someday, but in it's current state, it's just not possible.

One of my childhood games aka played it a crap ton more in high school. I love loved the Saint Row series up till 4 is where I drew the line personally. Don't hate the series but I got this on sale for $1.99 TOTALLY worth getting it and revisiting it.

This game barely runs on PC. Wait for the patch or play on console, you are better off. Honestly I fought for months just to complete the tutorial mission - this is including the GoTR mod. Don't even hassle with this terrible port.

okay, the game itself i would always recommend, BUT theres so many fucking issues with bugs on this version. honestly really do love saints row 2 BUT NOT FOR PC! if i was you jus buy an xbox 360 for £30 and buy the game that way atleast the damn thing will actually run. and in the mean time yall need to fix this shit

I've played 24 hours and the game crashed 19 times.
It's irritating when the game suddenly crashes right after clearing a mission and have to re do it again.
But the story,game play,humor is just too good.
Besides crashing, Saints Row 2 is one of the best game ever.

I really want to get some nostalgia out of this game but this port is a god damn mess. You can expect problems like bugs and frequent crashes but wow I did not expect for the game to mess up my computer settings. I booted the game up and streamed it for my girlfriend via discord and for some reason everything other than my game was permanently quiet. It was like my computer volume was lowered to 20% permanently. Had to fix it through the sound control panel and restart PC. Pick up Saints Row 3 or 4, that's some bang for your buck

A really good and fun game aside from the poor port. I have a 1660 and a 6 core processor that has 3.4ghz and 16GB of ram and yet I can only maintain 60fps when GTAV can get at least 70-80 (on high). Maybe it's not that big of a deal but still needs to be addressed ontop of everything else. The game isnt bad but the port is and if you want a good time with it download gentlemen of the row, fixes everything and adds a bundle of fun stuff

Lots of fun along with lots of bugs like every Saints Row games on PC.
If you have fairly new system, it requires unofficial mods (to fix bugs) and external apps (to fix fps) but definitely worth the hassle.
IMHO SR2 and SR:TT are best games of the whole Saints Row franchise.

After 1000 hours I can safely say that I have way too much time with me, however, I can recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the Saints Row series or if you genuinely love being a gang boss surrounded by rival gangs I replayed countless times and I still enjoy it I can say that this game is worth the money.

Preamble: SR2 has a notoriously bad port. Either download Gentlemen of the Row mod or wait for IdolNinja to release the patch in a year or two.

Saints Row 2 is a video game. Not only that, it’s a third person open-world sandbox crime game. And this sentence alone may lead you to believe that it’s yet another “GTA-clone”. Which I believe to be an absolute horse-shit of a sub-genre made up by incompetent game journalists, one of whom said that Spiderman 2 was also a gta clone.

Saints Row puts a lot of emphasis on personal freedom. Be it in the way you roam the world you’re in or how you choose to define yourself in it. Which is mainly done by means of customization. Basically every little thing about you and the things you own, sadly for the exception of weapons, can be customized and altered to your taste and help define who you are in this world.

Game has also got quite a well written rags to riches story centered around gang warfare. Filled with drama, tragedy and quite honestly it’s pretty gruesome at some points. People die. A lot.
But, you know, the game also knows how to have fun and all the dark and gritty stuff is often broken up by a decent variety of genuinely fun moments, be it a banter between characters, some comedic moment in a cutscene or entertaining side activities found throughout the city of Stilwater and the mayhem you can cause during your playthrough.

Speaking of the city itself, my god - what a city it is. Stretching for a whole of 10 billion square kilometers (the actual size may differ) - there’s always something to look at and explore. Every district has a unique look and great deal of landmarks to see. Wherever you turn your gaze you may find people going through their daily lives. Cheerleaders rehearsing, tourists capturing the moment on film, lovebirds whispering sweet nothing into each other’s ears and homeless warming themselves by the fire barrels, before injecting unknown substances into their eyeball. These are not just mindless drones with a set walking pattern - they feel alive and this brings an additional dimension of realism to this city.

Now let’s talk about weapons:

First off - Melee weapons are about as effective as wiping your ass with a palm of a hand. Manageable, but messy. But there’s a wide variety of them, including various improvised weapons you could pick up on the streets. Which is a great addition to the game. Very Immersive.
Mostly you will be using one of many firearms this game can offer. Be it a pistol, a rifle with a grenade launcher or a pimp cane shotgun. All the weapon types have about 3 to 6 variations, so there’s plenty to choose from. Also every pistol and SMG can be dual-wielded for double the fun. But I have this minor complaint, nothing serious. Some weapons just don’t sound right. High-calibre pistol sounds about the same as a 9mm model and Shooting a rifle sounds like a rapid barrage of wet farts. But one SMG sounds like a freaking minigun would. What’s up with that?
And then there’s ragdoll physics. Ya’ll remember Havok? That physics engine that turns every dead body into a bag of potatoes? Yeah, they used it here. When you hit someone with a car or some odd bug appears bodies might fly into a stratosphere, but most of the time they drop like a sack.

So yeah, I wholeheartedly recomend this game. Great open-world action game. I give it 3 hot, wet kisses.

Game constantly crashes , steam support are not helpful , stuck with half a game as on certain mission just crashes and the game is playable for like 20 minutes before crashing on windows , tried to reach out to steam no help once they have they dollars they don't care ! would be helpful if they offered to trial a game for before buying as wasn't clear only 2 hours grace period for refund !

Not working for me. I cant start the game wothout instant crashes. You have to install a thirdparty programm to mod the game for it to start.

i wanna play this game SO BAD, because it's really good game. but it is impossible. this is literally THE WORST port i've seen in my 16 years of gaming. it's unplayable because it's crashing 80% of the time i enter the vehicle and there is random crashes also. many bugs. running on 1080 TI ; Ryzen 5 3600 ; 16GB and i'm getting 60-70 fps, not even maxed out graphics. this is so sad. i don't care about performance and bugs, but it's unplayable because of non stop crashes.

Okay, so, on PC i might have only 1,8 hrs played but i played more on Xbox 360 this game.

When I see people talking about the re release it makes me feel like it would be worse than it could sound like, the game itself with its graphics makes the game what it is now. And so lets make it in pros and cons version of review.

Pros:
- Exciting story
- Wide choice in armory with upgrades
- Vehicle upgrades with some good features
- Tires with spikes
- TV Zombie survival game
- Music in radio is to some people very addictive
- Graphically even if its old it looks good
- Very much fun things to do

Cons
- Very complicated way to play Multiplayer games if people play on console

Hard to say any cons on that good old game.

Maybe its not the best review but i personally would give it still maximally 9,5/10 in rating.

Good open world game which has withstood the test of time, under-rated here.

Saint Row 3 and 4 also very good but the story goes dafter as the series progresses, still fun though.

Piss-poor port job, outstanding game. That's usually how it goes. I was fortunate enough to crash maybe 2-3 times in 27 hours of playtime, in co-op too. Buy the game, get the GOTR mod, enjoy a fine piece of vidya gaym. Not much point comparing it to SR3/4, as those games went off the beaten path design wise, but it's a great game. SR3/4 are also great games in their own right.

I loved this game way back then on my xbox 360. I still love it- So much I have 15 hours on the game but only 8 in game hours.
Why is that you ask?
Because the game crashes. A lot. I have 15 hours but 7 hours are lost due to the game crashing.
My computer isn't a piece of junk either, the game is just incapable of functioning.
Replayed the same mission 6 times before writing this and I never finished it once because it would crash during one of the three cutscenes. Ouch.

The PC version of this game is unplayable, like every Volition game on PC. For console, 11/10. Could not recommend enough, On PC, whatever you paid for it is too much.

While it's a good and definitely fun game in itself, I unfortunately can't recommend this port.

So many hoops to jump through to get it working properly, with various issues plaguing it such as frequent crashing, extremely variable performance - anywhere from 30-60 FPS all the way down to single digits even with decent hardware

As much as I love this game, I have to say that it is completely broken. It is just one hell of a mess, needed mods just to run decently. Otherwise, when the game worked, I had a lot of fun. I really love the plot, the combat is pretty good for a GTA Clone, and it has pretty of moments that genuinely made me laugh. But, in its current condition, I can not recommend that you buy this unless they release a remake or a remaster.

Crashes crashes crashes. Do not download this game if you are on a budget. I have played this with the Gentlemen of the Row mod, and it still crashes. Unfortunately, since I already played above 2 hours, I cannot request a refund for this broken game. I replayed a main mission 3 times and I still have it crash right before i finish it. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR PC, and this is coming from a big Saints Row fan.

The story begins in a jail hospital, where you've been in a coma ever since a gigantic explosion at the end of the first Saints Row nearly ended your criminal actions permanently. After easily escaping from this lightly guarded compound, you set off to recruit more people to your gang and retake the city of Stilwater.

While you may not be able to affect the outcome of your story, you can design your conqueror in whatever image you desire. The character creation tool is quite extensive. You can drastically change the weight and age of your character, pick from four different races, mold facial features in whatever manner you desire, and even choose if you want a male or female protagonist. With only six different voices to choose from, it can be difficult to accurately match one to whatever look you happen upon, but it's a small price to pay for the wealth of creative options. You can visit a plastic surgeon at any time to tweak your features, but the process is so in-depth, it's easier just to choose a look at the beginning and stay with it.

On foot, combat is just as enjoyable, although with the lack of any feature for the player to take cover, it can feel a bit loose but you have the ability to take human shields.

There’s no question that Saints Row 2 is an excellent game but unfortunately its flaws are mostly technical rather than through any fault in design or gameplay.

Overall the second installment in the Saints Row series is an improvement on an already great first game.

Optimization is god awful but that's a pretty well known and documented fact. Overall the game itself is fire. Like even today this is a super fun game. Buy it on a sale and stick to the mod community to try and make it the best experience it can be under the circumstances.

It's just way too easy to give Saints Row 2 a high review. I've played at least 1000 + hours across PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC version.

However there is one thing to note, the PC version currently IS receiving an update for free that will patch the game dramatically and include all three DLC packs.

As the vanilla PC game is though it has COUNTLESS bugs and performance issues requiring a mod to fix it, however with that mod some of the base game content is replaced like walk styles.

Stilwater had to be my favourite open-world game map, there was countless side-activities, people living a life and what SR2 did exceptionally was having people dynamically change their opinions to you as you progressed.

While still very much a 'GTA clone' we can already see the seeds of the balls to the wall insanity that this series will take with the later instalments. The writing here is really working towards establishing the game's own unique identity and for the most part it does succeed.
Unfortunately, this game has a lot more issues running on modern hardware than the others, however a remaster is apparently in the works. Currently, I would not recommend this game to newcomers to Saints Row, start with The Third instead.
Personally, I was willing to put up with a lot of issues because this game was still very much worth that to me.

Saints Row 2

This is the second part of the game about gangsters, but the first one released on PC. At the beginning we have to create our own character. You have to admit that the character creator is pretty extensive.

The game starts with escape from prison, and our goal is to create a gang of saints and take control over the whole city. In addition, we have a lot of side missions, or basically activities. Each of them has 6 levels. The higher the level, the harder it is to complete it. In addition, we can buy various places that will generate income for us. Also important is the respect, without which we can't start the main missions.

The graphics won't knock us out. Although the game is old, because it was released in 2009, even on the highest details the game looks weak. It is not a very important part of the game, but it can repel some.

Soundtrack sounds very good. The music is pleasant, and the sounds of surroundings or weapons are nice to the ear.

It is also worth mentioning the optimization of the game. There is definitely something wrong with it. Sometimes I've been falling fpsow despite having a good computer.

Summary

To sum up, Saints Row 2 is a very good action game with a simple storyline, twists and turns and a great soundtrack. The downside is definitely optimization and a bit of graphics.

Great game, horrible port, if anyone plans on buying I suggest waiting for an upcoming patch which will add the console dlc for free and fixes this buggy port.

Saints Row 2, it's a great fun game, A cartoon version of GTA, great characters and a strong story, one of the best in the franchise to play with, with graphics that can stand to the test of time.
BUT, as I am a fan of the franchise and the game, the big problem with this game I have had is that it's very Buggy, filled with glitches, and constantly crashes which dampens the great experience of this game.
A great game with hair ripping bugs.

Saints Row 2 is a fun game, however I can't recommend the PC version. It's extremely prone to crashing at seemingly random times. It performs really poorly even on a system that should be more than capable of running it. I have a i7 4790k, and a GTX 1080Ti; It still runs at less than 30fps sometimes. I use Nvidia inspector to limit it to 30fps so that, that way it feels less stuttery.

I recommend installing the fan patch gentlemen of the row which solves a lot of the games problems but doesn't help with the random crashing.
