Nicht wirklich historisch authentisch, aber astreine Grafik, gute Action, geile Musik, großartige Atmosphäre und packende Kämpfe.

Relativ kurz, die Story kann man in 5 Stunden schaffen, bietet aber zusätzliche Herausforderungen danach.

Eine zu Unrecht wenig beachtete Perle.

Hatte Probleme mit der Steuerung auf PC. Nun auf Xbox (obwohl ich kein Konsolenzocker bin) wars gut spielbar. Grafik auch heute noch schön anzusehen genauso wie die Combat Finisher

Von den besten Handwerkern, denen es wieder nicht gelang ein Kunstwerk zu schaffen.

Story:
Wir schlüpfen in die Haut des römischen Soldaten Marius Titus. Zu Beginn der Handlung fliehen wir mit Kaiser Nero im Gepäck vor einer wilden Horde britischer Barbaren, die in Rom eingefallen sind. In einer Zuflucht unterhalb des Palastes erzählen wir Nero schließlich unsere eigene Geschichte. Denn hinter dem Muskelpaket Marius steckt mehr, als man auf den ersten Blick vermutet. Das Gros der Geschichte findet als Rückblende statt: Wir erleben die Ermordung von Marius' Familie durch Barbaren, begleiten ihn auf seinem Rachefeldzug nach Britannien und führen ihn letztlich zum großen Finale zurück nach Rom.

Die 08/15 Story:
Die Wendungen sind leider vorhersehbar, die Figuren recht pathetisch in Gut und Böse unterteilt. Ryse überschreitet selten das Niveau von Popcornkino, erzählt aber trotzdem eine emotionale Geschichte, die kurzweilig unterhält und am Ende unserem generisch anmutenden Helden doch ein bisschen mehr Charaktertiefe verleiht, als am Anfang vermutet - wobei einige Parallelen zu Ridley Scotts Gladiator schon sehr auffällig sind.
Nach einem gelungenen Einstieg wird die Geschichte außerdem so sprunghaft und unzusammenhängend erzählt, dass Marius' Entwicklung vom treuen Soldaten zum von Rache getriebenen Einzelkämpfer zunehmend unglaubwürdiger wird. Am Ende bleibt Ryse daher trotz starker Inszenierung und coolem Römer-Setting nur ein spielbarer B-Movie, der viel Potenzial seiner Geschichte verstreichen lässt.

Die Kämpfe:
Die Grundidee ist ein Hack 'n' Slash wie God of War, nur dass es keine Kombos im eigentlichen Sinne gibt. Die vier Grundbewegungen sind ein Schwertangriff, eine Stoßattacke, in der Regel mit dem Schild ausgeführt, ein Schild-Konter und eine Rolle in eine beliebige Richtung. Diese werden jetzt nicht als Kombo verbunden, um Schlagserien auszuführen. Stattdessen stehen die Konter klar im Vordergrund, weil ihr es meistens mit drei oder mehr - bis zu zehn - Gegnern zu tun habt. Wildes Buttonmashing bringt dabei nicht weiter, am besten ist es, einen Angriff abzuwarten, zu kontern und dann nachzusetzen. Die anderen Gegner nutzen diesen Moment gerne aus, also geht so eine Attacke meist schnell in weitere Konter über.
Statt die Buttons einzublenden, entschied man sich für eine geschicktere und dezentere Version, indem nun die Umrisse des Gegners leicht, aber gut erkennbar, in der Farbe des entsprechenden Buttons aufleuchten. Da es nur zwei Farben gibt, ist das jetzt nicht sonderlich komplex.
Aber hier hätte man noch deutlicher werden können, indem man den Gegner länger und deutlicher in der Farbe hätte aufleuchten lassen können.

Steuerung:
Einziger Patzer der PC-Umsetzung ist Steuerung. Die Tastenbelegung lässt sich nicht ändern, dies sollte heutzutage Standard sein! Wenigstens ist die voreingestellte Tastenbelegung aber so durchdacht, dass sich Ryse trotzdem relativ bequem mit Maus und Tastatur spielen lässt. Ich rate hier aber eindeutig zum Gamepad, damit steuert man wesentlich flüssig.

Kamera:
Die normale Third-Person Verfolgerkamera. Aber ich hatte zuweilen meine Probleme damit. An sich ist sie gut, aber sie lässt sich meiner Meinung nach zu langsam drehen und ist viel zu nah. Sodass man in den Kämpfen viel Übersicht verliert, was neben oder hinter einem passiert.

Grafik:
Im Gegensatz zu Xbox und PS-Version, gibt es für den PC eine Optimierung für 4K-Auflösungen, die noch mehr aus der Optik herausholt, dazu zusätzliche Grafikregler für Shader- und Partikeleffekte, Kantenglättung und Texturfilter. Das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen: Ryse ist eine Grafikpracht, die Charaktere sind genau wie die Texturen herrlich detailliert, die Mimik der Figuren ist ausdrucksstark. Allerdings hat sich nichts an den wenigen Gegnermodellen und den sterilen Landschaften geändert; ähnlich wie manches Model auf dem Laufsteg schafft es Ryse nicht, wirklich lebendig zu wirken, obwohl es bei Release fantastisch aussah.
Die PC-Fassung ist eine verpasste Chance, das Römerspektakel mit Spieltiefe anzureichern. Stattdessen verlässt sich Crytek ganz auf seine technische Stärke und macht aus der Umsetzung von Ryse: Son of Rome die beste Fassung eines mittelmäßigen Spiels.

Synchronisierung/Sound:
Klangtechnisch plätschert die Musik so dahin und ist nichts besonderes. Die Kämpfe und Explosionen sind soweit gut, hätten aber noch deutlich besser sein können.
Die Synchronisation ist teilweise sehr gut. Die Sprecher sind für die jeweilige Person gut ausgesucht und leisten eine fast exzellente Sprecherleistung.

Aufwendige Cutscenes:
Überhaupt hat man oft den Eindruck, Ryse möchte mit seiner filmartigen Inszenierung lieber ein cineastisches Erlebnis als ein richtiges, forderndes Videospiel sein. Und wer mit dieser Erwartung an das Spiel rangeht, bekommt auch tatsächlich einiges geboten. Die Story trieft zwar vor Klischees und Pathos, ist aber auch mit langen, toll gemachten Zwischensequenzen garniert, für die Crytek enormen Aufwand betrieben hat. Professionelle Schauspieler wurden mit moderner Performance-Capture-Technik erfasst, dadurch kommen ihre Darstellungen hervorragend zur Geltung.
Rein handwerklich sind die Videos also klasse gemacht. Leider lassen sich die Autoren aber dazu hinreißen, ihre eigentlich bodenständige Heldengeschichte mit unnötigen Fantasy-Elementen zu vermischen. Das zieht die Stimmung deutlich runter.

Fazit:
Nix Neues im alten Rom: Ryse bleibt auch auf dem PC ein kurzes, spielerisch seichtes, aber immerhin top inszeniertes Actionspiel, das vor allem von seiner Grafik und seinen Schauwerten lebt. Das ist okay, solange man eben nicht mehr erwartet – mich haben allein die sehr guten Zwischensequenzen und die starken Schauspielerleistungen gerade genug motiviert, um das Römerspektakel in einem Rutsch durchzuspielen. Klar, das Gameplay von Ryse mag eine Enttäuschung sein, doch als cineastisches Erlebnis, das vor allem visuell beeindrucken will, geht das Gesamtpaket für mich in Ordnung.

Sehr schöne und überzeugende Story in der Kampagne, das Kampfsystem ist jedoch etwas repetitiv. Der Multiplayer funktioniert leider (zumindest bei mir) nicht (mehr).
Aber das Spiel macht richtig Laune, gerne werde ich es wieder spielen und als General Marius die Barbaren abschlachten.

Hab es jetzt durch und muss sagen ich liebe es das simple sehr action lastige Gameplay macht mega Spaß und die Story ist meine Meinung nach einfach nur Super. Wer Filme wie 300 oder die Serie Spartacus mag muss unbedingt mal reinschauen. Für 10 Euro ist der Preis auch super Fair.

Grafik ist toll, aber ob mit oder ohne Controller - das Kampfsystem ist einfach Murks. Sound und Animationen sind großartig, aber ich habe noch mehr mit meinem Leben vor, als perfekte Kombinationen einzuüben. Bossgegner verhalten sich absolut unnatürlich und damit ist es unmöglich sinnvoll zu parieren. Wenn mal etwas gelingt, dann eher zufällig. Hirnloses auf dem Controllerrumgetippe. Takken 12 im Römersetting. Schade. Vor langer Zeit frustriert aufgegeben und deinstalliert, 2. Chance gegeben mit demselben Ergebnis: wieder schnell frustriert aufgegeben und deinstalliert.

Das Spiel hat für ein Game aus dem Jahr 2014 eine recht gute Grafik und von der Belegung der Knöpfe (Controller) einfach zu handhaben. Für 2,49 bei Steam macht man da nichts verkehrt.

Das Game ist eigentlich wie ein Film, in welchem man zwischendrin immer mal wieder schnätzeln darf. Ist zwar nicht sonderlich anspruchsvoll, sieht aber gut aus und macht Spaß. Außerdem ist es wirklich sehr Blutig.

Ryse war damals der Vorzeigetitel und sieht auch heute noch beeindruckend aus. Obwohl ich mich zudem Zeitpunkt für die PS4 entschied, konnte Sony nichts raushauen, dass optisch mit dem Titel mithalten konnte für eine lange Zeit. Ich habe mir das Spiel geholt für 4.99 Euro und werde seit dem ersten Durchspielen auf der Xbox One genauso gut unterhalten wie damals. Die Grafik auf dem PC ist natürlich um Welten besser und auch die HD Texturen lassen das Spiel heute noch optisch glänzen. Das Kämpfen ist leicht und geht gut von der Hand. Die einzigen Kritikpunkte sind die selben wie damals: wenig Gegnervielfalt und die Anzeigen, die sich nicht abschalten lassen. Wer auf Hack n Slay mit toller Optik steht wird bestens bedient.

Es macht einfach Spaß, da man auch während des Spielens unterschiedliche Aufgaben machen muss und man bei Gruppenformationen u.a. auch verschiedene Auswahlmöglichkeiten hat.

Wenn man überlegt das das Spiel von 2013 ist können sich manche auch Heute noch eine Scheibe davon abschneiden was ein gutes Spiel ausmacht.

Atmosphäre, Optik und Präsentation stehen hier ganz klar im Vordergrund, weniger das Gameplay. Auch die Story ist eher Mittel zum Zweck. Das Kampfsystem ist unfassbar simpel, aber aufgrund der Präsentation ein pures Fest für jeden Freund von Testosteron-überladenen Metzelorgien.
Für jeden, der mit dem Szenario, in dem das römische Imperium im Fokus steht ein absolutes Muss!

Eine ganz interessante Story, die leider immer wieder durch die Kämpfe unterbrochen wird. Für den Film innerhalb des Spiels und einen einmaligen Durchgang ok. Spielerisch hingegen schnell eine Dauerwiederholung von Finishing-Moves und daher schnell langweilig.

Wurde 7 Stunden bestens unterhalten und werde es irgendwann bestimmt nochmal spielen.
Grafik samt Animationen, Steuerung, Story-alles top und auf kurzweiligen Spaß ausgelegt.
Wer mal eine Auszeit von Open World oder Loot Spielen braucht könnte den Titel in Erwägung ziehen.

Alles in allem ist das Spiel recht gut Gelungen, was die Zeit von damals Angeht. Die Kämpfe sind recht Realistisch. Die Grafik ist sehr gut für das Produktions Jahr, es kann locker mit heutigen Spielen mit halten. Was ich Allerdings nicht so gut finde: In der Einführung wird nicht alles eindeutig Erklärt was die Spiel Steuerung angeht, was es sehr umständlich macht bis man rein kommt. Man kann ja nicht davon ausgehen das jeder der sich das Spiel holt eine Xbox hatte. Und direkt mit der Steuerung klar kommt. Ich rede von der Controller Steuerung! Was Maus und Tastatur angeht kann ich leider nichts sagen. Die länge der Story ist ca. 6-7 Stunden. Was recht kurz ist leider! Aber in dieser Zeit bekommt man ein tolles und Realistisches Spielgefühl was die damalige Zeit anbelangt. Ich kann das Spiel nur Empfehlen! Mit etwas Geduld für die Eingewöhnung.

Die Geschichte ist ganz gut gemacht, kurz und knackig habe 5 stunden gebraucht ohne die Sammelobjekte bewusst zu suchen.
Zum Multiplayer kann ich nichts sagen den habe und werde ich nicht spielen

Ryse Son of Rome muss man nicht gespielt haben aber man bereut es nicht wenn man es getan hat!

Kurzes aber Spaßiges Game. Für 5-10 euro durchaus mal zu empfehlen. Spielt sich wie ein Michael Bay Film - die Story ist stumpf, die Action ist vulgär aber unterhaltsam

Definitely worth the price when on sale.
The game is short but engaging.
The combat is fun at first but gets repetitive due to the lack of variation.
The story, cut scenes and graphics are great.
A sequel would be cool for this game.

For AMD users use Rivatuner add the game and set fps limit to 60. Can easily play 60fps @1440p max settings super sampling off
This will solve the low fps and stuttering and low GPU usage.There are many solutions for Nvidia users and not for AMD

As for the game its really wonderful
Amazing graphics the environment is damn beautiful
The combat is simple and repetitive but it's alright
Cool music
The story in my opinion is idek what to say maybe pretty twisted and short in length but it was enjoyable
It's cheap even without sale and on sale its $1.14 either way worth playing

Ryse: Son Of Rome! 9/10! Awesome game! Highly recommended! =) I used to play this game on Xbox and now on PC. Even though it came out on PC in 2014, it still remains one of the best games I've ever played! A lot of time, effort and money went into making this visually stunning game! The high level of detail is simply breathtaking! The campaign and multiplayer is original and amazing! An epic timeless masterpiece! =)

Ryse: Son of Rome; The story is griping and makes you wanna play till the end, well written with characters both likeable and unpleasant, the ending is well done plus fits well. The graphics and music both being very good and add to the experience.

The game play is fun and entertaining. No bugs, crashes, errors or glitches. A highly polished and quality game for sure. The only complaints I have which somewhat drew me away and disconnected me from the game play is some enemies seem to auto dodge 10 attacks in a row even when the animation shows my sword going through them. And the LShitft roll dodge sometimes does nothing with the attack still landing on you even though you should be out of range.

Overall recommend highly.

Well paced game with an Intriguing story supported by well delivered voice acting. While the combat system is not exactly my cup of tea, it is still enjoyable, so I can commend them for trying something different while still keeping it fun and engaging. The negatives however outweighs the positives to to point that I would only recommend this game while it's on sale, these being mostly related to some game-breaking bugs as well as a wonky camera at times. Some of the major bugs I've encountered within a short amount of playtime is during the first mission where you have to escort someone the next objective bugs out if you don't stay behind the person you're escorting (which is ironic), resulting having to reload the checkpoint. The other was much more technical where one of the cutscene-to-game transmissions bugged out, which caused a freeze. I could only resolve this by completely closing the game with task manager. All that said the game looks great for it's age and is worth checking out on 50% + sale.

Story is short, about 10h to 15h or more depending of difficulty.
But by the Gods, the game has a good story, great combat and gore.

This is like a sequel to the movie Gladiator with Russel Crow.

You trully feel like a Roman...

The visuals are great, the story okay, the swordplay is really simple as you find yourself just mashing one button and sometimes holding another for a heavy attack until the inevitable ability to execute comes up.
The game length is really short as I cleared the game on the second highest difficulty (legendary is locked until you clear the game) in 5 hours and I didn't feel it to be challenging at all - it's easy to play and easy to master.
The slow motion executions, the chopping of limbs, slitting of throats and crushing of skulls are visually cool but you find yourself doing it so often it started getting annoying for me after 3 levels.
The upgrading of skills don't really feel like they have any weight to them, you earn valor at such a fast pace I just found myself upgrading without really putting much thought into it at all.
I picked this up on sale for 2.5€ and I definitely wouldn't pay more, I recommend getting it if it's on sale for that price.

If you are fan of rome materials then you can fall in love with this game despite it's flaw in core gameplay elements. Story was far better than I've expected, nothing to write novels about yet does it job and immerses you into the game. Yet if you do not have special interest in roman era you can get easily bored by the gameplay which is the biggest flaw of this game.

Something different from what I usually like to play, nevertheless, a fun game. The campaign is pretty short and the combat is repetitive but in general, it's an enjoyable action game with decent graphics. The story is about a centurion who goes on a mission to avenge those who had wronged him and his family; the storyline escalates and he finds himself fighting a bigger war to save Rome. If you are in the mood to spend a weekend enjoying some graphic ultra-violence with your brain turned off, then Ryse: Son of Rome should make a nice addition to your library. I recommend getting this game when it's on sale, but don't expect anything mind-blowing; it's pretty straight-forward.

It was basically like playing a super cut of Gladiator and Saving Private Ryan stitched together, has the mechanical depth of a paddling pool, and it’s fun despite it’s weird issues.

Ryse tries to be a recreation of the slow motion scenes from 300 where history takes a back seat to the rule of cool… but there are some details that will put a smile on the face of history fans.

I recommend it for some mindless bad ass Roman fun, but buy it on sale only.

The most satisfying game that I played in this year

Ryse: Son of Rome is a great atmospheric combat game. Normally, I don't like savage combat games But I'm telling ya killing barbarians, felt sooo freaking good. Game has Really dope combat system as in Spartacus show. The graphics look incredible like the devs time-traveled to 2016 or 17 and went back to 2013 then released it.Game is not fully optimized but totally worthy.

Really good graphics and sound. It feels like watching a movie at times. Gameplay isn't the best though. Pretty early you realize that you have basically seen everything the game has to offer combat wise. Aside from the QTE executions you don't really get much variation. You use the same weapon the entire game. Multiplayer is a co-op (or solo) Gladiator arena. So after you finish the story you have a little more to play around with. Can't really recommend it unless you really want to play a Roman/Gladiator game.

I think this game is one of the most underrated games of the generation. It is true that the gameplay is very short, but we should not neglect the game's characterization and interesting struggles with QTEs sence.also graphis is very fantastic .highly recommended and You should try this at least once .

Solid 8/10 for a 2014 game

A Cryengine game from an era of pushing gpu limits, has full gore, executions and bewb physics. Stuff that you won't see in newer AAA games of this decade. Nice story telling and cinematics are the main draw, fights get repetitive after awhile but the game is short enough and has well placed checkpoints.

Really immersive, amazing graphics, great cutscenes, terrific environment and lighting, great voice acting, awesome combos and executions, decent face animations and guaranteed epicness. Bloody moves and scenes are to be expected. Developers also thought they could add some interesting fight mechanics and it was a good choice.

Unfortunately this package goes with some unavoidable flaws: the optimization is awful, the game quickly becomes repetitive (and especially fights) despite its ten hour-long storymode, minor bugs, its price (which has decreased a lot over the years however), lots of QTE's and random mini games and the not-that-original story. Still a good game to me.

Crytek must have sacrificed several lambs and perhaps even humans to make graphics this good in 2013. This game looks gorgeous, and it plays quite smooth. Some issues are to be found with the optimization but they can be tweaked externally to make the game play well. But besides that, the game is great, it has a pretty cohesive and interesting story that is nothing over the top but sells you on the characters and the setting. The combat is fun and it's what to be expected from a triple A batman style beat-em-up. The enemies handle well, the animations feel satisfying, and you truly can't go wrong with it besides maybe stating something about the games difficulty being too simple. But ultimately, the backdrops and levels are very entertaining and inspired. Paired with the over the top action and executions, this game just feels truly badass. Definitely worth a buy at $2.50, you'd be foolish not to take advantage of this if you enjoy this type of game.

Play as Marius Titus, a regular soldier of Rome before the city was attacked by raiding barbarians. After having lost his entire family, Marius throws himself into his military career and enters a game of gods as he works his way up the ranks and takes his revenge.

First of all, this game is amazing! Second, I can’t believe this came out in 2014. Aside from having crashed on me one time, the graphics are beautiful, the music is intense, and the battles- EPIC! Fighting is so smooth and the finishing execution moves you can do has been elevated to a form of art. The ending was one of the best I’ve seen in a game and I don’t see how people can’t recommend it.
This game has multiplayer, and I’ve never had trouble finding a partner, the co-op is very much alive.
6-12 hours to beat story mode and 25-50 hours to 100%. This game regularly has good sales but even at $9.99 it’s still an excellent buy.

Achievement hunters beware – You need to play through the game three times at minimum and explore multiplayer in all its aspects.

Very heart touching in the end...,Gods does not interfere with our life directly but they stand discreet and direct us towards our fate. Very beautiful narration of the patriotic solider's story... Every one knows the shadows of Rome but in this plot it is not shown deep . Every thing in this game is fine but combat system and camera movement is the drawback, particularly health. Apart from all.... this game made my day........ For Rome.... there is Marius, every country has their sons. They rise when order falls........

First of all I have to say. This game is definitely worth buying due to its very low price.

This experience was enjoyable for me and I finished the game.
The duration of the story section is quite appropriate and in my opinion it is not short and it is definitely enough for this game.

Finally, I would like to say the positive and negative points of the game:

positive points :

1- - Stunning graphics (according to the year of game production)
2- - Acceptable music
3- Very good design of fights and variety of attacks.

cons :

1- Superficial story without depth.
2 - Relatively poor sound
3- Weak multiplayer section without players.

According to the above points, this game is worth playing once. But the final decision is yours.

While overall a short game, and the multiplayer isn't nearly populated enough to be played with frequency these days, Ryse: Son of Rome is still an engaging and entertaining bloodbath through Ancient Roman times. Clearly more of a power fantasy play until you reach the higher difficulties, some of the enemies you face can be a little challenging, but they give you all the tools needed to send the souls of your foes to the Underworld.

I absolutely adored this game on my Xbox, so when I saw it had a PC version I was obviously excited. The game stutters, lags and has random changes in FPS which goes from over 100 to under 30 for seemingly no reason. It's such a shame because I love this game, but just cannot play it due to how poorly optimised it appears to be with NVidia cards specifically.

Finally played this game after watching so many videos of it throughout the years, and what a game this is! The story is beautifully written, and whilst not completely history-accurate, it still makes you feel like you're living and breathing in the days of the Roman Empire decline.

The graphics are impressive for the time it's been released, and still holds up well with current AA games. The gameplay mechanics can become a bit repetitive, but the storyline makes sure to keep things interesting. Be aware the storymode is quite short, but with the current discount pricing I'd say it's still good value for money,. and there are still active players online.

A decent game with a decent story and cool actions. There are two things I would complain about:
1. the battle is too repetitive, and the character upgrading system is too simple.
2. while having a story based on the roman empire era, it doesn't have Latin voice.

Ryse was made to be a big launch title, console seller for Xbox One back in 2013. It was supposed to showcase the graphical capabilities of the new console. And while in the graphical department it definitely delivered, the gameplay itself is very much lacking and it could all have been made so much better.

So yes the graphics are amazing, it still holds up to this day. The world design and attention to detail is great, they really did ancient Rome justice. The story is good too, engaging and well told, but short. There are 8 levels in the campaign and they are corridor design, so no exploration past what is given to you. The whole thing can be completed in under 10 hours.

But the gameplay itself is very shallow and simple. It was designed similar to the Batman games combat, but with way less options. It all consists of parrying, shield pushing, rolling, and attacking until execution is available - which involves pressing the correct blue or yellow color (X or Y on controller). There are only 3 types of enemies and once you figure out the combos for them, you will be doing the same attacks repeatedly. Even the few “boss battles” are just a simple combo to be repeated. Once you get used to the combat all the encounters are pretty easy, even on the hardest difficulty. It would have been nice to have greater variety of enemies, more moves, combos, abilities, weapons. Everything could have been made so much greater but instead we got the most basic possible.

Multiplayer is available in form of solo or co-op arenas, and co-op survival mode. I was surprised to matchmake a few players but I wouldn’t count on that being the norm, not a whole lot of people are still playing it. I can see why because everything is very repetitive, the arenas are the same every time. So most people that still play opt in for the survival mode and try to string together as high of a combo as possible.

So it comes down to managing your expectations. If you go in knowing that the combat is super basic, and take it as a 10 hour story experience, then the game is just fine. Ryse had potential for much more, but it satisfied for mediocre.

I love that movie. And I love this game! It has an amazing atmosphere, the ancient Rome is dripping from everything in the game. Great graphics and fitting music helps a lot in this. Intense fights offer great challenge and reward you with awesome executions! It's a joy, believe me.
Story is simple and linear, but that's how it should be. Everything else would distract you from your ultimate goal - your revenge, oh and saving Rome of course. Marius is a great character, true born hero and general. Others are also interesting! Commodus is such a jerk, argh, I hate him in the Colosseum! (That's a good point.)

There are three kinds of collectibles to be found, which offer insight on the characters and history facts. And even though the game is linear, some of those items are hidden pretty well! Good thing is, that you can see missing items, so you can then replay just that part of the story.

Fights are simple. You have a sword, shield and pilum at your disposal. You can also fill your focus meter which then lets you use extra helpful skills. But you have to be vigilant and not rush to the fight as the right timing is the key to your success. Truth is that you will best learn this when doing the Legendary run and fighting the Commodus in the arena. Well, the whole Legendary difficulty requires every bit of your concentration. But it's great fun and I have felt amazing after each won battle!
Checkpoints are great as there are a lot of them, really a lot of them! So you never redo some large segments of the story and you never became frustrated by the loss.

After completing the game through and through, you can then compete in the Colosseum!!! It's a multiplayer part of the game where you battle, with the help of your comrade, against hordes of barbarians. But! Interesting thing is, there are maps that you can do solo! Yay. So I have opened some of the achievements and I feel pretty proud for some of the runs.

Anyway, it's an amazing game, worth every bit of your money! Can't recommend it enough!

Very early in this you will be stunned by the environment and graphics it has, super immersive. The fighting system takes time to master if you want to Achilles-like cut through hordes but what is important is that you can be that man in this game.

The story its classic vengeance scenario; overthrowing an Emperor dipped in tyranny along with his fully grown brats and their foul intentions. The voice acting and cinematic face expressions are also impressive.

Excellent Co-op play that have maps with different mods from endless waves with emphasis on maintaining your combo to task-like missions. (Note: campaign is only single-player)

Achieved with CRYENGINE

Great Game that did almost everything right, combat is too repetitive but still very fun, mostly because of the quality and variety of executions. Still looks better compared to 98% of games in 2021. Highly underappreciated game that deserves a sequel. Buy it as soon as possible.

If you are a fan of linear action adventure games then go for it , The fighting is fun but gets boring really quickly since nothing new is added as you move forward in the game , all mechanics are showed in the first hour. Visually the game was way ahead of its time , they are absolutely stunning , all levels are varied , some of them way better than the other .Upgrade system is just plain pointless . Story starts great with loses it toward the end .

This game was suppose to be showpiece for new console.
Graphically it doesn't looks so bad (this is CryEngine ? What ?! pfff….), but gameplay is…. let's say simple. You just mash two buttons and you can kill anyone. Good for techdemo, bad for good game.
PC port is not that good either, not bad too so its average. Some game stutters independent on power of your graphics card no key rebinding (there are 2 sets of key binding you can pick… ehm) etc.
And game is finished within in 10 hours with collecting staff and playing multiplayer (yes, this game has multiplayer…). It's really short. But on massive discount it is good buy.

For discounted price: 6.5/10
Overall, painfully average game with simple mechanics, nothing exciting here, but I can't say I didn’t enjoyed it while I was playing it. It was fun.

For such a short story, this game was epic!
I remember playing it years ago and the graphics were amazing at the time.
To be honest they are still great now! It runs really well, and you feel engaged throughout the entire game.
I only have about 7 hours played on this game, but that's how long it took me to complete it.
I only bought it for like £5 at the time (it was on offer) and looking back I would have easily payed £20!
I would recommend this game to anyone that likes a great story and engaging combat. Also this game has strong Gladiator (the movie) vibes!

Ryse turned out to be an amazing game in my opinion I would say, I picked it up on sale not expecting much but i ended up enjoying and having a fun time with it
the story Campaign: it isn't that long actually maybe around 5-8h but for the current price I can't complain, I do think it's a sweet spot for working people who don't have enough time for finishing longer games, the story in the other hand was awesome and interesting and I liked the characters and it isn't very historically accurate as some would expect, and In few sides of it I felt like they got inspired by movies like gladiator, it's one of the games that I didn't really mind replaying at all, and made me interested more in the Roman empire
the Combat: it's simple and could feel repetitive at times but still fun, the better you time your deflecting, hits, executions and the higher you maintain your combo the more rewarding it's
Graphics and visuals: for a game that came out in 2013 it looks really outstanding with it's beautiful details which makes it looks better than many AAA games that came out years after, it simply showcases the power of the Cryengine.
Co-op: not a story related, it's a 2 players PVE with a few maps and game modes, you start as a gladiator and fight against waves of barbarians in the Colosseum and earn gold and level up to upgrade your character equipment, it's actually hard to find players most of the time but there's a solo mode and if you have a friend to play with then you're all set :)
as a side note make sure to backup your userdata folder in case something went wrong since it's easy to lose all your SP and MP progress even with cloud save on.
finally while there's a lot of things that needed improvements and more work like longevity, it's still really worth it for its price and usually goes on sale for 3 bucks which makes it a great deal if you're looking for a nice short liner story driven game

Best movie I ever gamed.

Combat is fun though, despite what some may say. It is not difficult by any means, but like a retro game, it is about the score. Time your hits and press the right buttons and you get super high combo's. And while you press said buttons you can watch your character preform brutal executions. It's like the movie 300, except with a different story and now you control the camera.

So if you like brutal, over-the-top action movies, this game is for you. And if you don't like that, well... Who doesn't like brutal, over-the-top action movies?

While not the greatest game in the world, the graphics are impressive and the story is somewhat compelling. It's a story driven game and gameplay takes a backseat. The combat is repetitive in the same way the Arkham and early Assassin's Creed titles were. Hit, hit, parry/dodge, hit, hit, repeat until they die. Executions help make it interesting since there aren't any abilities or features that make it more interesting like the aforementioned titles. The combat does become dull in that sense but then again, it's a story driven game.

It is also a relatively short game. I played on Centurion since I consider myself a half decent gamer and finished the game in 5 hours with hardly any thought put into my actions. Maybe died thrice but it's because I was watching a korean drama at the same time. It's easy, it's simple, and best of all, this game really does come by cheap.

So if you're looking for a decent game with a decent story, this is for you. There are obviously much better games out there but that doesn't discount the fact this is a good game. Not as good as it should have been considering it was a console launch title, but whatever right. It's not a bad game. I enjoyed it, maybe you will too.

This game has it all. I was really not expecting such an amazing albeit short experience from this game. While the story is short, it is packed with action, epic combat, and in my opinion a very solid narrative. The game also offers an Arena mode which is a blast seeing as the combat in this game is spectacular. It is 110% worth the price.

Ryse is a difficult game to review. I guess the most important part, is that I enjoyed myself. It's important to note that this is an eight year old game, and I got it very cheaply. My review is from this perspective, and not from the perspective of buying it day one for $60.

Ryse is a linear action game in which you engage in combat using a system that is similar to Batman Arkham and Assassins Creed, but make no mistake, unlike those games, Ryse is an extremely linear experience. In fact, in Ryse the player has almost no agency at all, and the when they do, it is almost always an illusion. The game will let you decide between two options at times, like commanding your archers to attack two different targets, but it has almost no tangible effect on the battle you are fighting. If there is some kind of side path, it is almost always a dead end, with a collectible of some kind at the end of it. There is an experience system, but there are few options as far as using your points, and you just kinda check all the boxes.

So yeah, Ryse is kinda mindless. So why did I enjoy it?

Ryse is BEAUTIFUL. Despite its age, the engine is still stunning, and will still push your hardware. I will not go on and on about the graphics, but I need to stress the game look amazing.

Ryse is fun. The combat is fun and visceral, you feel completely badass as you slaughter wave after wave of enemies. The story and performances are both cool in a B movie sort of way. I found myself motivated by wanting to see the next area, just to see the graphics and the art design.

I don't think I will be replaying Ryse beyond my initial playthrough (about 7ish hours) or dabbling in the multiplayer, but for what I paid I am totally okay with that. I would give Ryse a 6 normally, but I am going to add a point because it is greater than the sum of its parts, and I had fun with it.

I'm so glad I bought this game, it's very fun. Some reviewers did not like it due to it's simple fighting mechanics but to me it was ok, the game it's fun, the story is great, graphics and sound are superb. I wish they release a sequel to this game but I don't this that's going to happen. This game was worth my money.

I know Ryse: Son of Rome had mixed reviews when it came out because it was short and really linear. I went in well aware of that. The combat's not very challenging but it works. It reminds me very much of the Batman Arkham games minus the gadgets. There are two attack buttons (sword or shield) and there are two defense buttons (parry or dodge.) It works, it's al really fluid. It's just good in my opinion. Not great but certainly not bad or anything. The story was pretty enjoyable and I particularly like how they finished it. It was a pretty creative touch.

The crazy thing about this game is it came out in 2013 and it doesn't look like it at all. It looks better than most games released today, a whole 7 years later. In fact, I would go so far as to say if you take one of the best looking games out today and just shut off ray tracing, Ryse: Son of Rome will look as good as it. It's impressive just how good this game looks. And beyond just graphical fidelity, the animations are absolutely top notch. You can execute enemies after you deal enough damage to finish them off. The animations were so fluid here. If you play other games like this, enemies are constantly clipping through walls, elevated on higher terrain, they snap into position to complete the animation, etc and it all looks wonky. It was incredibly rare that anything looked out of place in any animations.

Overall, it's a treat just to watch. It's short, I finished it in about 5 hours. The gameplay's enjoyable. I can understand why people hated this at the full asking price when it was an XBox One launch title but years later when you can pick it up for just a few dollars, it's definitely worth the playthrough.

It's the video game equivalent of a cheesy action movie.
Half of my play time was cut scenes and finisher animations. The actual campaign gameplay was rather short and most of it was just fighting the same 5 enemy types in different environments. On the bright side, If the game was any longer it would have become dull.
It's the same story as in the movie Gladiator but it's even more exaggerated and creates a historical nightmare, so don't skip your history lesson in favor of Son of Rome.
The game was released as a flagship title for the Xbox One so it's made to be action-packed and look pretty.
If you are looking for a few hours of cinematic gory fun, Ryse is definitely for you.

I purchased this game very close to launch, and at the time, felt as if it was a massive waste of money. In hindsight, however, I feel that this game is not truly just a game, but an experience, as cliche as that may sound. The gameplay is simple but satisfying for a bit of escapism into another world, allowing you to connect to the struggle of Marius without feeling obligated to focus on every action. The real selling point of this game, as many have already stated, is the atmosphere. The effect of the grandiose nature of the roman empire juxtaposed with the relative squalor and savagery of the barbarians is to my knowledge unmatched in any medium, with a highlight of course being the exaggerated nature of the coliseum, shifting in an absolutely impossible way for nothing more than the entertainment of the Romans. At $10, I simply cannot recommend this game enough, it is absolutely worth at least one playthrough. Even if it feels like an interactive movie, it's a good one.

This game is seriously underrated and is well worth your time! Impressive, immersive Roman scenery and landscapes, the Colosseum, varying linear (for the most part) dramatic environments as well as excellent voice acting, battle animations and the overall story creates a highly captivating and thoroughly enjoyable experience. I had this game in my backlog for quite some time and surely wish I had played it sooner. The game follows the story of Marius Titus, who loses his family to the wrath of barbarians; ultimately seeking their revenge and the constant fight for the glory of Rome. Although the campaign is not long (finished with all collectibles within about 12 hours) luckily there is a multi-player component for more slaughter and carnage. Combat does get repetitive at times but not to the point of being arduous. One of a kind, extremely memorable – you won’t be disappointed!

A completely unexpected game for me. I bought it for the sake of beautiful finishing moves and remained in a pleasant delight. The game is very beautiful, with an excellent storyline and gameplay. I advise everyone who wants to complete the game in 5-6 hours, moreover, the game costs very little.

This was a pretty decent game which has some flaws but they are not overwhelming.The Visuals 70% of the time are pretty amazing and beautiful showing you great environments , and action.There were some pretty badly animated parts but those were like 10 % of all the Visuals and the other 20% were just alright and nothing special. The story is pretty basic and has a charm of a decent revenge story but don't expect any epic twists, I disliked the part where there were suddenly some God's playing a game outta nowhere that was pretty weak. Gameplay is one of the weakest parts for me due the fact that after 1 hour it becomes just doing a mundane task of killing waves of enemies that only have like 4 skins and barely change , clear this wave , push that thing , defend that point, get's boring as hell really fast. Music was pretty good and the voice acting was alright for the most parts. Multiplayer is the same as single player but with other players(Woah I know) 7/10

A very underrated game. Gameplay is really good, graphics and scenery is great, but atmosphere... atmosphere is absolutely AMAZING! You feel like you are IN the game or great movie!

I just finished this game and all I can say is:.... AH-MAZE_BALLS..!!!

This game is sooo good. The story is fantastic, the combat is genius and gruesome, exactly what you would expect fighting with a gladius. I absolutely loved every second of the campaign. It is short, very short, but keeps you engaged like a movie the whole time.

The graphics and scenery is amazing. It is not an open world game, it's a third person slasher game..? is that a thing?

You are Marius and you go through the game as a legionnaire moving up in the ranks, somethings happen to your family and you set to fulfill your duty as a roman and as a son.

I can't stress enough how good this is, how the combat is superb and the story is amazing. I could try, but I would not be successful at it.

I bought this during the summer sale and put it on a queue, just got to it in October 27thish and DID NOT disappoint. If you're thinking and debating if it's worth $2.99, then yes believe me, IT'S WORTH IT. Actually, I feel like I owe them money. I feel like I stole it from them. but shhh, don't tell em.

Not that anyone is really going to be reading my review in 2020 lol, but I really enjoyed this game. The campaign was a little short as I finished it in about 6 hours, but it had such a good story that I didn't really mind at all. I bought it for 3 dollars and at that price it is an absolute no brainer. Overall, I definitely would say that it is worth the time and money!

I don't have words to describe how wonderful and well made this game is... just a masterpiece, everything is wonderful, the story is deep, the main protagonist Marius Titus aka Damocles kinda, the combat is beautiful, the violence is extremely beautiful, visceral, the graphics of this game is extremely beautiful and the cut scenes are like a film.

You'll remember of that film Gladiator 2000 when Maximus was fighting against Commodus which was the son of the emperor Marcus Aurelius and in this game the story is basically I'd say 90% based on that film but here the emperor is Nero instead of Marcus Aurelius and we have Maximus as Marius.

Well the emperor has two sons the young and stupid Basillius and the oldest more intelligent but highly narcissist Commodus <-- at least this one knows how to fight on the Colosseum, but both of them are idiots same with the traitor Emperor.

Well I have this game on my library for more than a year and wonder why didn't play it sooner... I didn't know this game was so good, I had no idea.. >.>'

This game is brilliant, wonderful, violent but with a purpose behind all those amazing combats and cut scenes and the story is incredible. <3

I highly recommend this game!

By The Gods This Game Is Under-rated!!!
Its from 2014 and this game on 1440p looks amazing even in 2020!
The simplest way to explain the campaign is a linear Call of Duty style cinematic experience with gorgeous level design and Blood and Gore battles. The executions do get a bit repetitive in terms of animation but the system for buffs and healing is great. Even fully upgraded if you get hit it hurts. You can be a literal god but you will suffer from your own mistakes (mis-clicks). So its all about skill.
The story is actually quite good and makes sense. The game reminds me of that movie with Chaning Tatum about the Roman legion in Britain (forgot name).
Its rather short i think i got it from humble bundle long ago and just now i got around to play it. Totally worth it!
Its only 10 euro and probably can be find on summer/christmas sales for even less.
Its fun its gorgeous and you should get it!
10/10 Would Save Rome Again

This game is great and has been done more in the story than the gameplay and other things. In all respects, the game is very good and has a low price in some regions, the only big problem is that it is not optimal at all. The gtx 1080ti does not give at least 60 frames and is not my only problem. If you read the reviews of this game, many people have had the same problem with the giant system, such as 2080ti and 1080, and if they did this optimization issue, it would be really great.
I give this game a score of 8.5 / 10.

i was looking for a hack and slash game to help me pass the time until the multiplayer update for Ghost of Tsushima arrives. As I was strolling through Steam, I came across Ryse. I bought an Xbox One specifically to play this game way back in 2013 and I have to say it's still as every bit of fun as it was back then. It's not the most in depth game but it also doesn't try to be. It's brutal, combat is pretty simple, and character models are often repeated but I think this game is an excellent purchase if you can grab it on sale (i picked it up for $5 and it's been a great bargain).

All that being said, I do experience some crashes while playing this game. It has crashed my computer several times and I have a computer that is far more powerful than the required specs so I need to see if there are some fixes. I don't have any friends who own it in order to try the multiplayer piece but I'm working on talking someone into buying it.

I give this game an 8/10

If you are in the mood to spend a weekend enjoying some graphic ultra-violence with your brain turned off, then Ryse: Son of Rome should make a nice addition to your library, especially if you can find it on a Steam sale.Love this game, something different from usual FPS and 3rd person game. Most games have same/similar story and can be boring. People do say that Ryse is repetitive but are not all the other games repetitive? E.G shooting enemies in different maps. People are annoyed because of short campaign but like all of the crytek games have short campaigns.

Overall a fun experience which pumps you up and gets you amped for battle. The setting is beautiful and the animations are visceral and raw. Good abc plot with a few turn of events which gets you vested to progress more.
Finally an enjoyable game, the gameplay isn't very deep and can get repetitious but makes you feel like a legionnaire none the less.

INTENSE AND EPIC IN A LOT OF WAYS

After finishing Ryse: Son of Rome, I came out with a feeling of slight disappointment as to why it had to be such a short experience. There are 8 chapters in total and the game lasts 12 hours maximum depending on the difficulty set. The first half of the game definitely isn't the best as it only sets the stage to the epic and awesome second half, which in my opinion had the scope to extend the storyline a lot further and create the most awesome gladiatorial experience ever in a game. I am a big fan of Roman and Greek mythology and history, thanks to Age of Mythology and Rome Total war of the olden days. I am also a big fan of Russel Crowe and the movie Gladiator (I wonder who isn't), to really feel disappointed that Ryse: Son of Rome in the second half felt rushed. I know for a fact that the development team worked on the game for 7 long years but I also am sure that a lot of people like me would have loved the game to bits, if it were bigger and not abrupt in it's second half.

If I were to sum-up my experience of Ryse: Son of Rome in a few lines then it would go like this:
➊︎ Straightforward/Fast narrative with non-stop action. (Short story)
➋︎ Amazingly responsive fast-paced combat with nice kill animations. (Coolest combat you might have seen)
➌︎ Gore. (A necessity to create the Roman warfare ambience)
➍︎ Wonderful graphics. (Truly spectacular even by today's standards)
➎︎ Memorable/connectable characters and realistic character animations. (Movie-like)
➏︎ Strong voice acting. (Some good performances)
➐︎ Cool soundtracks. (Feels epic at times)
➑︎ Some impressive locations. (Anything Roman is impressive to me)
➒︎ Fun multiplayer. (The arena might keep you hooked for sometime)
➓︎ Is there a Ryse 2? (If so I'll be the first to get it)

The Cons: Short game, more enemy types would have been great and of-course events in the second half of the game felt rushed.

VERDICT: It's a must-play game for roman history/gladiator fans and definitely a recommend for others. As for me, I am going to enjoy the game again trying out Legendary difficulty.

Game review:

I have to admit that I wasn't really sure whether to recommend this game or not, but than I realised it cost only 10e which surprised me cause I got it few years ago and It was more expensive. So, yes, for that money it's really worth trying and here's why. It's crytek so you can expect great graphic - wonderful for the year of release, great ingame executions and cutscenes. Faces look really great btw, almost like real people. Story was decent and without spoiler alert I can say it's very similar to Russell Crowe's Gladiator, but with many changes. I am gona stop there with positive words. Multiplayer? Meh.. just COOP for 2 where's nothing to do just few objectives and different maps. Kill some enemies, move, kill again and so on. Executions are great and there's tons of them but combar is really weird. You fight 1 guy and 10 others are just watching, sometimes one more atack you and you easilly deflect him as you got eyes on your back. Collectables are worthless and you upgrade your stuff only with XP or multiplayer gold. If you want a good cinematic game with great cutscenes and graphic with decent story - this the game, but don't expect anything else.

Achievements were really easy. Plenty of them for completing missions, than some collectables and achvs for completing game on harder difficulties. Multiplayer got lot of them too but prepare to find someone to help you cause nobody plays it. Game has achievements progress counter, it's really usefull.

This game is very difficult to recommend

The game is badly optimized : Like if you run a Potato computer it will not run proper and you will have to lower settings even on a 1070 GTX. It will run but you will get constant FPS drops and it can be annoying.

I enjoyed this game and finally beat it after all these years owning it.
The game is short but good, The story is fair and has a GLADIATOR Movie Vibe towards the End but I won't spoil it.

I have a 2070 RTX Basic not Super and it Runs awesome but I still get FPS drops every so often. But not to the point were it bothered me. It is bad optimization and was never fix and I never looked if a Mod or unofficial update was ever release but I doubt it.
Gameplay is pretty cool and standard Hack and Slash with Glory Kill's as I call them. Those are pretty cool, can get old after awhile once's you see them all but I was ok with that.
Enemy Variety is bad. Most enemy's are just Twins of each other, A lot of the enemy' are the same and through out the game. I'd say maybe 5 type's of enemy's maybe more but still, while playing a long time you will see every enemy by the time you get 1 or 2 hours in.

The is beautiful and great scenery and Graphics. The Voice acting is great and runs at 60 fps most of the time.

Overall it get's and 8/10 from me.

If it goes on sale I would recommend it.

Great action packed game set in Roman times. It plays like Batman AA where fighting requires properly timed counters and attacks to break the enemies guard. This game goes deeper with combat to give you a few added bells and whistles and overall is quite enjoyable. The graphics are beautiful and the story is actually pretty engaging. It's much better than most movies out there.

Love this game. I was very pleasantly surprised by it and quite impressed. This game came out in 2013 and I'm just now playing it in 2020. I can't believe this game is from 2013 for starters. Running this side by side God of War and at twice the frame rate I feel this game looks better. I find myself impressed more often with Ryse. When you play this game maxed out and at least 1440p@60, and you see the very fine god rays cutting through strands of hair on top of the helmet you know this engine is in a class of its own.

The gameplay has been fairly simple but for that reason it has also been fun to play. I don't need overly complex gameplay with a game of this type. The combos are fun but the game can be brutal at times. When you're taking on 5, 6, or more NPC's in some parts of the game you really need to concentrate on those parrys.

In my opinion the story in great and so is the voice acting and animation. I'm not through the game yet and I know it will be fairly short as people have said in the past, but I REALLY hope they do a sequel to this game at some point. I just love it and it has, for whatever reason, pulled me in much more consistently than God of War did.

The graphics are great, but the team obviously wasted the opportunity to make this game from average to great. The story is nice but not great and not long enough. Ryse Son of Rome is a single and multiplayer experience set in the historical period of ancient Rome. A lot of this game is created with Greek mythology. Ryse is an Xbox One port from 2013.

Campaign:
The campaign is a linear experience which follows a roman general who gets ditched by his own legion. Greek God Nemesis then gives you a second opportunity to get revenge on the roman empire and those who betrayed you. I found the campaign enjoyable, but extremely easy. I believe if the story was any longer I would lose interest based off of repetitiveness. There is no feeling of progression besides the change of an outfit based on the chapter and the upgrades which are just boosts to your health, power and experience. Fights were all identical to one another and enemies were identical reskins which circle around you coming at you with predictable attacks. The spear mechanic was the most frustrating tool to use in game. I was so fed up with it I ended up never picking up another spear remainder of the campaign. Besides the spear, Ryse is extremely forgiving and anyone can learn it in no time.

Multiplayer:
Multiplayer is completely dead and the only way to find a partner is through friending someone through steam and inviting them to a custom match. Multiplayer was an extra to make the game fuller even though it hardly adds anything. During matches you are granted experience to your multiplayer level along with gold. The gold is used to buy booster packs which grant you specific raritys of items. You are then able to customize your gladiator loadout with the items you have gained in your inventory. There are several game modes, but I spent majority of my time in survival because it was the only one that actually offered a challenge. Other game modes were stale and not enjoyable I was disappointed they didn’t have more to offer.

This game could have been so much better if it had more variety in controls. The lack of variety and originality is what sold this game short. The game felt like a hollow shell that lacked innovation. I personally would not recommend purchasing this game without any kind of sale. Ryse Son of Rome was created to be a bigger game than is in actuality.

Soo, hey guys, im drunk now, but just finished the game!

+ ARE
STORY - Im not that dude who plays story based games nonstop, but i have some fair share of them, this is the best story game i played so far.
GRAPHICS - I would say its really good, there is some minimal things i saw that needs to be more detailed, but overall 9/10
ENEMY - Troops were kind of pain in the ass at first, but than you start to know combos and things like that so i would say its good! Only thing is that there could me more types of dudes wanting to kill you, but as i said - overall GOOD -7-10
LEVEL SYSTEM - I dont know if that is only me, but i didnt find interesting level up system, i mean its cool that you can upgrade stuff, but i would say that it need some improvements. 5 - 10
CHARACTERS - Dont want to spoil it but i loved them! 9 - 10

Overall really good game, if you like the old times, slashing barbarians with sword, filling barbarian heads with spears and arrows, and you like really good story, buy the game!

this is a not bad of a hack and slash game with great storyline..its a god of war concept with QTE awesome execution...wish the gameplay would be longer..i finish it within 5 hours...so thats how long the story was...hope they make more games like this or sequel...

Do you enjoy a compelling short story set in Roman Empire Time? Well then this game is for you,In this game you are in the shoes of Marius during the fall of a Roman Empire. While you are Marius you are to help rebuild Rome back to it's roots. While being corrupted by an evil ruler, in Multiplayer you get the option of a NanoSuit while I think is pretty cool itself.
Overall I definitelly recommend this game if you enjoy Roman set stories.

Great graphics and one of the best story lines in any game
It is one of those games that makes you want to play on and on for hours
