News Liste Road Diner Simulator
Things are starting to happen a lot quicker in Road Diner Simulator now.
With our workloads on Food Truck Simulator slowing down and entering Early Access with Winter Survival just around the corner, more of our focus is shifting towards Road Diner Simulator.
While being worked on more occasionally so far, recent the development started in earnest and will increase in pace over the next months. There is a lot of prototyping that is being done and many of the initial concepts being fleshed out in more detail and sometimes significantly changed or expanded during this process.
One of those things is how Road Diner Simulator will work and interact with our Gas Station Simulator and later on with Motel Simulator.
The idea behind Road Diner Simulator and in the same degree also behind Motel Simulator, is that those games are not only set in the game world and setting created by Gas Station Simulator, but actually all work together. They are separate games, but separate games that communicate with each other.
As it’s evident by the picture above, the road diner is located just across the highway from the gas station. The first step of these games working together is to reflect the progress the player made in each game in the other two games. So in Gas Station Simulator you will see your diner exactly as you have build it in Road Diner Simulator and in there you will see your gas station the same way. And again, same applies to Motel Simulator.
Each game will feature a special type of save file that the other games can access and read the state of your gas station, diner and motel from there.
Showing the progress of the buildings in the other games is just the start, though. While it makes for neat visuals and creates a certain sense of accomplishment, there is a lot more to the connection between the games. And that comes in form of shared resources and various boosts across all games.
A very simple example is the level. A gas station at level 5 will drive a lot more additional customers to the diner than a gas station that is just at its first level. For the motel and diner, the type of customer play a more significant role than it does in Gas Station Simulator. So the expansion of the diner will influence the customer type for the motel and vice-versa. For the progress of both to also be reflected on the gas station, Gas Station Simulator will see some new customers and new content with the release of both these games on top of what else we are doing there.
Another area where these games play nice with each other is sharing various resources. Have a fully fledged out gas station making a nice revenue does not only influence various stats of your diner or motel, but allows you to channel some of its resources toward the new venture making the start just a bit easier. What’s more important however is being able later on to move some resources in either direction to deal with shortcoming on speed up the access to some of the advancements.
Then there are direct boosts to various mechanics and mini-games that you perform within each of the games that work toward a common goal, but that’s something for a later DevLog.
As you can see, Gas Station Simulator, Road Diner Simulator and Motel Simulator, while separate games, will be able to benefit from your progress if you own and played any of the other games. You don’t have to, but we feel it makes a lot of sense to create interactions between games set in the same “universe”. And there are quite a few ideas in that area that we are toying with right now that will bring it even a step further. But more about those at a later point when final decisions are made.
