Ich bin so dermaßen hin- und hergerissen, das könnt ihr euch nicht vorstellen. Immer wenn ich das bin, dann gebe ich einen Daumen nach unten und schreibe, dass ein Daumen in der Mitte besser gewesen wäre, heute mache ich das mal anders, ich gebe einen nach oben, weil ich denke, dass die Tendenz schon eher dazu neigt.

Aber wo fange ich an? Das Spiel hat einen schönen Grafikstil, zugegeben, dies ist Geschmackssache, mir hat es gefallen. Die Story um diese Anschläge und die blind folgenden Polizisten dieses fast Diktator Staates fand ich an vielen Stellen einfach zu viel. Die Story hat mich nicht so abgeholt. Auch verschiedene Charaktere fand ich drüber, wie Stan und Mitch oder Sonya. Es gab aber auch Charaktere die waren viel viel besser gelungen. Jeder hat so seine eigene Geschichte und die sind spannender zu erfahren als die Hauptgeschichte.

Am Ende laufen einige zusammen und das zu erleben hat Spaß gemacht. Ich hatte generell fast 8 Stunden Spaß mit diesem Spiel das sehr viele Facetten hat, positive wie eben auch negative. Insgesamt muss ich aber sagen hat mich das Spiel an verschiedenen Stellen begeistert und auch schockiert. Alleine dafür lohnt es sich doch ein Computerspiel zu spielen, wenn man durch diese Gefühlswelten durchgeht. Deswegen auch meine Tendenz mit dem Daumen nach oben.

Overall ein ziemlich gutes Spiel, mit einer netten Grafik (ähnlich wie bei Fire Watch) und einer interessanten Story, die mich gelegentlich an den Plot von beispielsweise Tribute von Panem oder V wie Vendetta erinnert hat (Polizeistaat/Diktatur).

Die unterschiedlichen Charaktere, die man auf der Reise zur Road 96 antrifft, sind alle ganz nett - bis auf ein, zwei Ausnahmen xd

Der Soundtrack ist echt richtig noice und es macht auch Spaß, die unterschiedlichen Kassetten zu sammeln, die einem immer wieder angeboten werden.

Zwischendurch gibt es auch ein paar schnuckelige Minigames, die schon ziemlich bocken ^^ (mein persönlicher Favorit: das vier-gewinnt gegen Zoe im Auto :D)

Worüber man hier eventuell meckern kann, sind die teilweise wonky animations, die stellenweise echt strange sind/werden XD Allerdings echt nichts, was jetzt dauerhaft der Fall ist, sondern nur sporadisch mal auftritt ^^

Wer auf ein schnuckeliges, kleines Story-Game steht, ist hier nicht falsch und kann ruhig zuschlagen. Da Entscheidungen auch gewisse Auswirkungen auf das Ende haben, bietet das Spiel auch einen Wiederspielwert; allerdings vlt nicht direkt nach dem ersten Spielen, da mein Endgame sich doch etwas geschlaucht hat :s Liegt aber eher daran, dass ich mich bei Jarod etwas doof angestellt hab xd

Abschließend will ich noch sagen, dass Zoe die beste Companion ist and nothing can change my mind!

Ich liebe dieses Spiel. Man wird in die Geschichte hinein gesogen. Jede Entscheidung fühlt sich wichtig an. Jede Reise, egal wie sie endet, ist bedeutend. Es passiert immer etwas neues. Jedesmal wenn ich zum Ende der Reise kam (ich meine den vorletzten Ort) fühlte es sich an wie nach Hause, an einen vertrauten Ort zu kommen. Die Musik ist fantastisch und atmosphärisch und passt perfekt.

Ein sehr interessantes und innovatives Spiel, welches einen hohen Wiederspielwert hat.

- !Achtung! - Spoilers ! -

Man spielt als Minderjähriger, mal jünger, mal älter, in einem diktatorischen Staat Ende des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts; die Wahlen stehen kurz vor der Tür und es scheint, als würde der Diktator ein weiteres Mal gewählt werden. Ziel ist es grundsätzlich, lebend über die Grenze in den Norden zu kommen, um in ein freies und hoffnungsvolles Land zu gelangen. Dies geschieht über die Highways. Die Encounters mit anderen Personen und die Handlung, wenn man auf diese trifft, ist immer unterschiedlich. Kein Durchlauf ist der Gleiche. Während man immer näher in den Norden kommt, hat man (überlebenswichtige) Entscheidungen zu treffen, die den gesamten Verlauf des Spiels für die anderen Minderjährigen, verändern. Sobald man stirbt oder es über die Grenze geschafft hat, schlüpft man in die Rolle eines weiteren vermissten Kindes, mit welchem die Reise fortgesetzt wird.
Durch die ganzen verschiedenen Entscheidungen, die man bei den Durchläufen getroffen hat, kann das Wahlergebnis, welches der Endtag des gesamten Spieles ist, beeinflusst werden.

Schaffst du es, die richtigen Entscheidungen zu treffen und dadurch den Staat vom bösen Unterdrücker zu befreien? Oder denkst du, dass alles so bleiben soll wie beim Alten? Die Revolution liegt in deiner Hand - oder auch nicht.

Tolles Story-Game, überraschend guter Soundtrack und die Erzählstruktur ist auch einfach mal was neues/anderes. Bin aktuell etwa bei der Hälfte des Games angelangt und unfassbar gespannt, was mich noch erwartet. Das Spiel zieht einen in seinen Bann, wenn man sich drauf einlassen kann. Spiele, bei denen man die Zeit vergisst und immer weiter machen möchte - Love it. Und ich schreibe jetzt nicht von Sucht-Spielen ;)

Einem jeden User, welche/r noch mit sich hardert, kann ich nur den Rat geben, es zu versuchen. Lasst euch drauf ein.

Ich habe dieses Spiel gemeinsam mit meinem Partner über die Familienbibliothek gespielt (deshalb habe ich noch nicht so viel Spielzeit), aber wir haben es bisher einmal durchgespielt.

Dieses Spiel ist einfach unglaublich gut und sehr atmosphärisch! Es hat wenig Gameplay-Elemente, wenn, dann eher ein paar Minispiele (manche davon haben es aber echt in sich), aber die reichen auch völlig aus, da die Story so interessant ist. Ebenfalls liebe ich die großartige Musik von Road 96! <3
Dieses Spiel kann man wegen des Nichtlinearen Handlungsverlauf gut mehrmals spielen. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis finde ich vollkommen in Ordnung. Ich würde es jederzeit wieder kaufen.

Dieses Spiel ist ein Abenteuer.

Zugegeben die Auswahl der Entscheidungen ist teils nicht so riesig wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte, dennoch möchte ich dieses Abenteuer aus den folgenden Gründen weiter empfehlen:

-Wähle einen Jugendlichen
(mit mehr oder weniger Geld in der Tasche)/
(gesättigt oder mit knurrenden Magen)
-triff unterschiedliche Charaktere
(oder halte dich von ihnen fern)
-Roadtrip
(per Anhalter/zu Fuß/mit dem Bus/Auto/Taxi)
-führe deinen Charakter in die Freiheit
-triff Entscheidungen und lebe mit den Konsequenzen
(dadurch Wiederspieleffekt)

Hatte es durch Zufall entdeckt und ausprobiert. Die Musik in Road 96 ist echt gut und rundet es meiner Meinung nach erst richtig ab, vor allem wenn einem sowieso diese Electric, Future Musik gefällt (keine Ahnung wie die genaue Bezeichnung dafür ist :D). Es ist schon anders Road 96 zu spielen, da man hauptsächlich die Dialoge führt und sich immer nur in kleinen Leveln bewegt, welche aber sehr liebevoll und mit einem Hang zum Detail entworfen wurden. Ich habe mich in dieses Spiel verliebt und habe es gerade das erste mal durchgespielt und werde es noch viele weitere Male machen.

Dunno if it's the game's fault or that I just expected something else, but it just didn't do it for me. I can imagine someone really enjoying this game but I just couldn't get hooked in.
Did play it only for an hour but I didn't really feel that I would control anything in the game. I was just in the middle of a story that I wasn't interested of.
I feel like this game is more for the kids-teens age group.

Road 96

Road 96 is a procedurally generated adventure that is focused on it’s story and the different characters the player will meet along the way.

Story

It’s 1996 and the player controls different teenagers that try to cross the border in a country that is being controlled by a regime. Each teen starts at a different point and encounters a handful of re-appearing characters that all play a role in this crazy country called Petria.

Whilst the player tries to survive and cross the border a lot of interesting bits of the story will unveil themselves and push the player to make decisions based on situations and the current ongoing election that could change Petria forever.

Personal Note

I think that Road 96 has an interesting concept of telling a story through different episodes, that are all connected with each other, but are always experienced through another young person that tries to make it to the border with the goal of achieving freedom for themselves.

Whilst the concept and the gameplay are pretty decent, the story is at times not very well told which makes some scenarios just super ridiculous and not as interesting as they could be. Don’t get me wrong, the story itself is pretty alright but the storytelling could have been better in my opinion.

The same issue applies to the different characters the player is interacting with throughout the game. I feel like that a few of them are actually quite interesting but the storytelling is limiting the potential of those characters and just plays everything down, which makes some characters just uninteresting and cringy. It doesn’t matter how well everything looks on paper if you cannot execute those good things later on in the game.

The way to the border is full of scenarios but each teenager will experience a different story which makes Road 96 quite interesting gameplay wise. Throughout the game you will unlock new abilities that make each trip to the border a bit easier & give the player more opportunities to find hidden places or story bits. Don’t feel too safe though, each character you control can potentially not make it to the border and get arrested or even die which makes some decisions a bit more important than others.

Is Road 96 worth your money? If you like a story driven adventure in which you try to escape a god-awful country from a different point of view each time you do so, this game could be worth your money if you can accept that the storytelling is not as good as you might want it to be.

I personally enjoyed playing through the game mostly because I liked the concept and the music as well as the ridiculous characters that you encounter every time you try to make it across the border.

At first I thought that this would be a short game with the same ending as everyone else but that's the complete opposite. This game has hundreds of different ways to progress. I've played it for 10 hours so far and I haven't even experienced a fraction of what this game has to offer. If you even have a little interest in this game than I suggest you try it. Much love <3

I was hyped when I saw the initial trailers but did not get what I expected. Honestly? It was a boring game. Tense moments are telegraphed a mile away and I just couldn't connect with the characters themselves. There was little context to the reasons to resisting the goverment outside of extremely small glimpses. We know that red is bad and blue is good, but we're not told why. We're rewarded for supporting blue without context of what blue is. Both could be terrible, we just aren't told as players. Also, illistrating that the game takes place in a psudo-90's enviroment lends extremely little nostalgia., It was advertised as one of its selling points but didn't cash out. Congrats on winning so many awards. I looked up the contenders and...yeah. You just won by default.

It certainly is unlike any other title I've played before. There are similarities to Telltale series, but it's entirely different. It has a political theme at the very core, but that's its strength. It doesn't try to impose a certain political view, it carefully treads a gray area where nobody is entirely right nor wrong. It's a unique ~10h journey that takes shape around your decisions, warranting multiple playthroughs. You meet several characters, most of which are memorable, some of which are annoying (on purpose).

I enjoyed it more than I expected.

This game was a very enjoyable experience!

Looking at the description, I thought it was going to be much more randomly generated then it is, but I still enjoyed what they did with it. There are several different events that you can unlock, and the choices you make will determine when you get to them. There are multiple characters with different scenes and once you see them all you have 100% completed the game.

In each playthrough you play as a different teen trying to cross the border of a fictional country. Different choices will lead to different results for your character. Some will make it across, some will not. The game is very political, which is not normally my cup of tea, but it really works for the story. I loved the characters you meet and the ambiance of the game. It has a lot of Life is Strange vibes. It can go from beautiful and relaxing to stressful and terrifying.

Overall, its not a perfect game and there are things I can nitpick, but nothing that ruins the experience of playing this. I really enjoyed it and I definitely recommend Road 96!

Road 96 is an unique adventure where you don’t matter but maybe, just maybe, your actions do. Going into it there are some strong political undertones and politics plays a big part in your journey. This game is unapologetic in this regard. You might even say it pushes a political agenda. However, it does provide options for you to react to the world around you as you make that sacred journey up north.

What really stands out about this game for me is the variation in story. There are 6 chapters and you play some nameless teenage runaway hoping to avoid the Pits and escape a facist dictatorial regime. Your story isn’t important but those you meet along the way are. The game revolves around several side characters and how you interact with them which ultimately might lead to a change in government rule, preserving the status quo or viva la revolucion!

Each character’s story is very loosely connected to the politics of the area but you meet them at random points in your journey whether you choose to walk, hitchhike or ride in style by taking a bus or taxi. There are also various abilities you learn from fellow travelers you meet along the way. Each having a chance to teach you something that might make your next trip a little bit easier.

All stories lead to the same goal at the border and you can never take the same route twice. You might fail, succeed or die but every choice you make has a chance to tip the scales to a different outcome slightly.

That being said, this game actually has a decent replay value. Abilities carry over between games and even after playing through twice I haven’t uncovered all characters' stories. In addition to the very diverse cast you’ll meet the game features an incredible soundtrack that adds to many interactions. I know there’s a chance I’m going to die whenever I meet Jared but if his default serial killer vibe doesn’t unsettle you his theme music during your encounters will. There’s also a number of engaging mini games presented that vary with each interaction. You have the opportunity to do anything from being a bartender to robbing a burger place or driving a getaway car. This game really kept me engaged and I had fun doing all the silly side missions. Ultimately though this game is short with each playthrough taking about 6 hrs. This game is definitely worth the price tag attached to it. I had fun and it was refreshing for an adventure game.

The game has a nice approach to story telling, you get the perspective from about 6 different characters that at the end have the same background but its cool to experiment with them and different decisions. I personally didn't like it that much because it became repetitive (or that's how I felt it), but at the end it's worth it, you get a good feeling when everything starts to connect and you begin to understand the whole story and each characters motive and stuff like that.

Get it on sale.

I waited a long time with buying this game because i wasn't sure if it was worth it.

But i can say this game is amazing and totally worth it, very story rich and loved playing multiple charachters!

One of the most comforting and fun games I have played for a while. It has some flaws for sure but overall very creative game where we explore the road adventure storyline through playing different teenagers trying to cross the board. Likeable characters, laid back & nostalgic atmosphere for 90s kids and EPIC soundtrack!

awesome game, got 100% achievements in 14 hours or something, but still havent seen all stories inside the game, currently have 4 from 7 finished, the other 3 dangling around 80% ... so gnna keep on playing till i found everything and heard everything

30.8 hr to get all stories to 100%. still feel like i missed 1 or 2 endings, but no way to be sure about that, and not sure if i want to give it a 5th playthru either..., so i will leave it here..., remembering the game as fun to play instead of tedious trying to find something that may or may not be there

Road 96 is not as good as some people may say but its still good. I love the story and the characters, but i think there could have been a longer build up to the ending. the animation is very lackluster, like something out of a motion capture movie, but it is the studios first game so I wont give it to much slack. the character development was real good and i felt surprised for some of the twists, for better or for worse. in my opinion the worst characters in the game is the bandits. they lack emotional depth and their surprise twist was very boring in my opinion, but others may say otherwise. I like the linear storytelling, this game is meant to be storybased and not gameplay based, its basically a modified walking sim with a rich story, but i might be wrong. so in conclusion this game is fine, but it shouldnt be treated like a top ten game or a bad game, it should be treated as a goodish game, 6 outta 10 in my opinion

I was intrigued when I saw the trailer for it in the Nintendo Direct, and I don't regret it. Great music, great story, and hilarious characters. This game has it all. Would VERY much recommend.

Playing Road 96 struck me as a group of developers that figured out the next step in the direction that TellTale Games was taking adventure games.

TellTale hit it big with The Walking Dead game and had subsequent hits (including my favorite, Wolf Among Us) by delivering narrative-driven, choice-oriented games. Digixart took that baton and ran with it with Road 96.

Road 96 is set in the fictional country of Petria in an alternate 1996, where a tyrant rules with an iron fist and teens are scrambling for the border. You take the role of the many teens who are trying to escape. The game takes a rogue-like approach where each run is different with a different teen that you control on your mission to the border. Not every attempt to make it may be successful, however. Myself, I escaped three times, died once and was captured once. Each of these runs builds off each other as you meet and interact with seven different groups of people, slowly peeling away at their backstories and learning more about the web of connections between everyone.

On a gameplay level, you come to different rest stops, motel, etc and scrounge for any money or food that you can get your hands on. As you progress, you'll earn abilities that will let you hack into a safe or give you lockpicking skills, letting you explore further. There’s also a good amount of mini games that keep the gameplay fresh and break up the core scavenging that you’re doing.

I don’t want to speak too much on specifics as I found that going in blind was really the best way to do it, but Road 96 feels like a game where your choices actually make a difference and influence the outcome of the story. I applaud the developers at Digixart for creating a compelling game that breathes fresh air into the modern adventure genre. If you’ve enjoyed the TellTale games or other narrative-driven modern adventure games, Road 96 is a must play.

We have another story driven indie game in our hands.

It looks nice, it plays nice and it feels interesting.

I would love to see more indie studios and developers creating beautiful games like this one.
