Zum ersten Mal werden die authentischen Feuergefechte und die intuitive First-Person-Handlung der „Red Orchestra“-Serie in einem Zeitalter der Schnellfeuergewehre, tragbaren Granatwerfer und anderer moderner Waffensysteme realisiert. Rising Storm 2: Vietnam wirft den Spieler in eine brutale, authentische Nachstellung des Vietnamkrieges.
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam bietet intensive taktische Kampfhandlungen für bis zu 64 Spieler in Schlachten zwischen den US-Streitkräften und den Vietnamesen, wobei jede Streitmacht ihre eigenen einzigartigen Fähigkeiten und taktischen Vorteile besitzt, wie etwa Napalmangriffe, Artillerie-Sperrfeuer, Flugabwehrraketen, Fallen, Hinterhalte und so weiter.
Eine Vielzahl historisch getreuer Waffen steht zur Verfügung, darunter das M16, das M14, das M60, der M79 und die Maschinenpistole M3 „Fettpresse“ für die Amerikaner sowie das Sturmgewehr Typ 56 (eine chinesische Kopie des berühmten AK-47), die RPG-7, die MAT-49, der SKS-Karabiner und viele, viele mehr für den Vietkong.
Die Waffen bieten außerdem eine große Funktionsvielfalt mit Auswirkungen im Spiel, dazu gehören einstellbare Schulterstützen, aufsetzbare Bajonette und ein neues und weiterentwickeltes Rückstoßsystem, das auf der bereits phänomenalen Waffenhandhabung aufbaut, für die die „Red Orchestra“-Serie berühmt ist.

Cons: Can´t think of any, its really fun to play, all i can say maybe is that Helicopters are way to hard to handle at the beginning but super fun to use!
Get It: If you know Red Orchestra and the Style of Realism Gameplay they go for
Dont Get It: If you look for something super Arcady.

Ich war als Frischling in irgend einem beschissenem Reisfeld südlich eines herrlich riechendem Flusses.
Mein Auftrag war es einfach nur auf eine beschissene Kuh aufzupassen. Naja was hat man als Frischling zu erwarten.
Mein Kollege Boby, ebenfalls frischling saß nicht unweit von mir entfernt. Wir gönnten uns diverse slices Beef-Jerky. Es war ein Genuss. Plötzlich hörte wir asiatische *sprache* , könnte theoretisch jede Sprache gewesen sein. Raffe die Sprache sowieso nicht. Plötzlich schrie Boby...... verdammt schieß... schießß. schießßßßß. Wir eröffneten das Feuer. Ich hab in meine Frischling leben noch nie so viel geschossen wie in dem Moment. Naja... es nur ein Radio. Jetzt heißt es.... Beef Jerky essen und irgendwie dem Chef versuchen zu erklären wieso sein Radio durchlöchert wurde.
So ist das Leben als nervöser Frischling.
Ps. immer den Finger gerade am Abzug lassen.

Ich befand mich mit meinen amerikanischen Brüdern in den heißen Gebieten Vietnams. Man hörte Mücken summen, schweiß perlte an meiner Wange herab, verletzte Soldaten schrien, der Feind war nicht sichtbar. Plötzlich hörten wir es im Gras knistern, wir schreckten auf und eröffneten das Feuer... *klick* das Magazin war leer... Helikopter über uns... war das die Freiheit?
Der Kommandant gab durch:
Sieg, endlich können wir nachhause zu Familie und Kindern.

I am a fan of the Red Orchestra series since 2011.
The Vietnam genre was at first keeping me from play RS2 Vietnam. I am a WW2 shooter fan. UI felt that there are too many automatic weapons but TripWire really made the arsenal for the USA and Vietnam really outstanding. In the end i tried it in the free Weekend trial and feel in love with it.
The improved graphics and sound design are really impressive compared to Rising Storm or Red Orchestra.
The gameplay differs also without enstranging any Red Orchestra fan too much.
The weapons handle a little bit different. (In RO2 and RS your bullet legt from from your head. in RS 2 Vietnam it leaves from the rifle itself. That sometimes confuses you when you fire behind a wall and the bullet just hits the cover and not your intended target.
Even though you feel the impact of the sound and the weaponary feels strong the hard core shooter experience is somewhat intereupted by things you feel odd about.
These are: Sometime you are stuck in the ground when you crouch often and stand up frequntely for cover. You then just cant move anymore.. You then have to die to play the game again..
Also the certain death of Napalm or Artillery and be easily avoided by standing in a wooden hut. But apart from this i really cant say too much boring facts about it.
Try it out.

It does still have active players, but they are the remaining hardcore with a smattering of new players - so if you want to be a steel plate, jump in :)

Campaign is usually won by US.
-Most try to play US, usually US full and then 34 vs 30 on a 64 server
-US better abilities. HCMT is a joke compared to S&D
-US Napalm/Spooky > AA
-US better weapons, all auto from beginning of campaign
-US commander has (late war) always all abilities, VC only on certain maps
-Noobs on US as SL don't matter, you can still spawn on them. On VC they don't build tunnels
-Tunnel destroyed, 30s cooldown
Further map design regarding spawns and radio locations is a pain.
Defenders spawn same distance away from first Objective like attackers, then VC need time to build tunnels and traps while US already reaches the point.
Team auto balancing is also a joke, just happens once before map load and then you can switch back to stacked team.
Not to forget bugs on VC side, calling scout, nothing happens, calling scout again.
When radioman dies while in use you can't use any radio. Must respawn then.
Also a lot toxic players and of course no communication

The devs are not working on this anymore and any further updates are very very unlikely because of their situation
Buyers beware, it is a good game but its gonna get repetitive fast

In all seriousness, this is a hard, but fun game. Takes a bit of strategy to keep from being killed and to win. Graphics are not much to write home about, however I hardly notice graphics when actually playing. Ballistics are pretty fun in this game as well. Don't get this game thinking you won't die often, you are gonna die lol. The community is pretty stand up imo and fun to play with.
10/10 enjoy playing and I don't find myself getting fully bored with it after a hour or two of straight playing.

well this is a pseudo realistic shooter that borrows elements from old eurojank titles such as operation flashpoint/arma, vietcong and more recent shooters such as battlefield and insurgency.
this game can be quite difficult and feature heavy but its still fairly casual friendly oddly enough.
its pseudo realistic so it tries its best and mostly succeeds at being very immersive but its rather fast paced a lot of the time.
i quite like it and the playerbase seems friendly enough.
if you enjoy competitive first person shooters or pseudo realistic class based tactic shooters you should give this one a rumble.

Rising Storm 2 is an incredible fast paced, blisteringly intense and at times, trauma inducing experience. Not much can describe the sensation of being air lifted into a combat zone, disembarking from a huey in a rice paddy and sprinting through it with your team members toward enemy fire.
The engagements in this game can vary significantly. An incredible map, Hue City, features a war torn city block that both teams will struggle over for usually a lengthy and sporadic firefight across a street and in alleyways. Once the city block has been captured by the attacking team, defenders must fall back across a river and into a massive temple, and then again through a bombed out neighborhood, until finally the defenders are pushed all the way to a cramped, hallway ridden, and maneuver claustrophobic courtyards in a desperate to the last man battle.
The commander is able to coordinate with the squad leaders who will mark targets for fire support. The squad leaders can do this with either line of sight using binoculars, or using a purple smoke grenade (NATO only), for those hard to reach places behind cover. This coordination is vital, and should be utilized at all times, communication and team work have drastic effects on the outcome of these matches.
The gameplay between nations will also vary significantly. NVA and Viet Cong fighters have similar equipment to each other and have tools that encourage guerilla fighting and ambushing, much to the way that the war was actually fought. Meanwhile, NATO troops, like ARVN, USMC, and even Australian forces, will have modern weapons and equipment that allow them to have an upper hand in head on battles where the VC lose the element of surprise.
Rising Storm 2 is an extremely memorable, exciting, intense, scary and hilarious experience that you shouldn't miss out on. And being able to purchase this game on sale for less than 10 dollars is a steal.

Wish more people played it because this is one hell of a war game.
However there have always been games rolling while I play. Full servers too.
Word to the wise. Be the Lorax and live in the trees, or get shot. This isn't COD.

While I'm not opposed to the developers moving onto different projects, it's bothersome that they're leaving this game in such a state. I have enjoyed my time with this game, as well as the great people I've met, but I can't in good faith recommend an abandoned game.

I've seen some things man . . . and stuff. I fought in the jungles and lost some friends. I even flew in with an M60 blazing on a small fishing village. I want to say it gets easier man, but I just don't know man.

PROS:
1) Gunplay is amazingly fun. Weapons feel like they actually weigh something, and they have a good kick. It is also extremely manageable in terms of recoil for accessibility to new players, which is good for this game.
2) Weapon sounds are very very well done, the sound of weapons firing is distinct from gun to gun so you can actually hear the difference between an AK, an M16, an M60 and a Mosin. Some games use generic gun sounds, and while the weapon sounds are not the best (Insurgency Sandstorm holds that crown in my opinion), it has been done well enough.
3) The fact there is no weapon customisation like in Battlefield or Call of Duty is good for this game given the setting in the Vietnam war. Some may consider it a con but, give it a shot, iron sights aren't that bad in game or reality ;)
4) Teamwork. One player may dominate a whole game, but the team still loses. Sadly a match can be won or lost by the commander and their decisions but, like in actual war, decisions made at the top can sometimes ruin the lives of those at the bottom. That and also the fact there are a limited number of specialist roles per team means the right player in the right role in the right place can make a push become a lot better.
5) Steam workshop integration means custom maps, so much well made content exists (sadly EGS players cannot play them because Epic....)
6) Suppression effects when under fire make it really hard to return fire at times, which ups the adrenaline factor, but at times it is extremely annoying.
7) Game environment looks really good. Sure, jungle isn't dense, it's not properly authentic for gameplay sake, but it is pretty well done. And you may find some cheeky graffiti!
8) Campaign mode for the war is my favourite way to play. You start off with early war factions, weapons and abilities, and as matches progress and territories are won and lost, you gain access to more and more equipment.
9) The little added touches like bleeding to death if you don't have a bandage. It isn't as heavy as in Red Orchestra 2 but it is present. I am also lumping in the sounds that dead bodies make, sometimes begging for help, some just sounds of pain, it can really be unnerving at times and put you in the fight proper. I once had to stop and listen to a dead body pleading thinking it was a player that was still alive and was bleeding out. Kinda sounds twisted to say but that little touch makes the game so much more immersive.
10) The minimal HUD (or none at all!) brings you into the game even more. You lose the game-y ness (I have no idea how else to phrase that) of many games that breaks immersion. This sucks you into the green killing fields that way.
11) The game rewards multiple play styles and punishes them equally. You can play aggressive and suicidal, or slow and tactical, and both play styles are viable and punished at the same time.
12) Short, realistic TTK. sometimes just one shot is all you need
Neutral:
1) Voice acting is not the best, but I do understand due to the issues they had getting Vietnamese voice actors so I can give them that.
2) Player character customisation. I don't bother with it, and some who run around shirtless as US army then complain about being TKd when they look like a Vietnamese player. Sheesh.
CONS: Funny enough I don't have much bad to say about the game.. I am not the best player but
1) This game can devolve down to artillery spam, it can be insane.
2) Sometimes you have idiots on the mics spamming music and the like. Thankfully you can mute the gits.
3) The frustration can build when playing against an organised team and you are on a team of FNGs. You can end up getting STOMPED!
4) I have had a few games with aimbotters. But very very few.
5) Learning curve can be very steep for some players.
6) People don't like to communicate, to the point I play on discord with a few friends and we just do our own thing. Makes a huge difference having people talking, this is nowhere near the levels of communication like in Squad!!!!
All in all, I enjoy the game with friends. GO HOME GI!!

I also love how the playable character is not the only one whose heartrate increases as the artillery rains down on your position. The only thing you can do at that moment is pray.
Conclusion: an absolute positive review and an absolute buy for historical/war/tactical/team/battlefield/immersive/realistic gameplay.

So why is this review negative?
You wont be able to fucking play it half the time. Most games have one team curb stomping the other because there is absolutely ZERO measures in place to try to balance teams, no level balance, no ELO-type system, no distinction between competitive and casual games, absolutely nothing. The result is one team having almost entirely seasoned veterans and the other having literal children 80% of the time.
Dont pay money for this game unless they fix this shit.

If you like casual shooters I'd take a hard pass, but if you have a niche for semi-realistic hardcore shooters give it a shot.
6.5/10 overall
Also be wary of clan servers, its not uncommon for a clan to stack on one team and just demolish all the unfortunate casuals on the other team.

-1 the toxic chat in game from people with anger problem
-2 toxic voice communication from others
-3 people run into your bullets when your attacking enemy side and then call you names because they died from walking into your bullet direction of fire
thats the community side of things
now on to the gameplay
the game itself is fantastic best shooter in a long time
best spawn kill spawning simulator of all time
when shooting it will feel like your firing paintball bullets due to no one dying and then poof your dead
Good things about the game are
+graphics are really good
+no connection or server issues
+lots of players
+role play is fantastic from players online
+guns sounds and explosion effects are epic
+maps are nice and big
+epic soundtrack
-toxic community
-vulgar language and rage from players
- spawn killing
id say get the game i recommend it as its realistic as possible when it comes to the roleplay aspect from serious and best players and the graphics are nice along with fantastic game mechanics and controls the thing that lets it down the most is players who cause toxic drama in chat and voice chat aswell who dont seem to grasp that friendly fire will happen if you run into your friends firing line when attacking enemy

Gameplay is one of the best FPS shooters I have ever played. Even when you are getting rolled as NVA it's a fun time. Air strikes, PTSD, & CCR. Satisfying as hell when you finally become that mystery gun somewhere out in the woods who made you rage quit in the first place. Solid community, not as toxic as most other games, and some hilarious moments are always guaranteed. Finding full servers is never an issue, lots of great custom map servers that are always active.
I can't recommend at all at the full price though. $25 for a mostly broken game that the developers have abandoned. Sometimes I ragequit before I have even loaded up because the first couple moments loading into the game can be so damn frustratingly slow. Frame stutters, crashing, random bugs, incomplete weapons that were supposed to be added and never will be. I love this game but it should really be under $5 considering the sad state the devs left it in.

The devs abandoned this game in what is essentially an incomplete state and it pisses me off so much because I love this game with all my heart. It had so much potential, but because the devs would rather focus on adding weapons that no one uses, they neglected to fix huge game breaking bugs that drive people away from their game, and give veteran players that know these glitches a huge advantage over anyone that doesn't.
I'd recommend this game if you if you're okay with playing an unfinished game that will never be finished because the devs abandoned ship a long time ago. But even then the playerbase is so small and tight-knit you might have a hard time getting into a populated server anyways....
