10 / 10 Punkten!!

Really outstanding !
Besides Alien Swarm Reactive Drop and Solstice Chronicles MIA, which are gorgeous and untouchable, offering the best top-down shooter, Redeemer is by far a fantastic shooter.
Apart from the two mentioned, it is a really great top-down shooter with coolness-combat system !!
Thanks devs and please do a second Redeemer 2 - such a cool game !!! (Please)
Redeemer 2 with a 4 Player Multiplayer Coop - this would be awesome !!
9 monkeys of shaolin is a good game but there are no range weapons and every punch is with an explosion - that is shit !
You can not really see the punch with all the deformation or blood which makes a good feeling !
So i really can recommend Redeemer !!!
Go get it you will love it !

POSITIVES
+ Bosse
+ Arena-Modus gegen je 10 Gegnerwellen in unterschiedlichen Bereichen die man zuvor freischalten (finden) muss

NEGATIVES

After a helicopter crash near a monastery, he is offered shelter there to make a long mental journey to put his bloody past behind him, until the day came when the monastery was attacked and he could only focus on revenge!
Watch a short gameplay session of the game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnghCmdrDGE
From a top down view you will have to go all out against your opponent, with Kratos-like qualities your enemies should not stand a chance.
In addition to his fists and stomping you will also be able to use meelee or firearms, and even if this doesn't seem to be enough you can also combine certain environmental objects with your attacks that make for delicious fatalities.
The first introduction to the game will feel very pleasant and comfortable, the enemies are nicely adapted to it so that you can quickly defeat small groups of about 10 enemies without any effort, but nothing is what it seems because as it usually goes in games that feel too comfortable at first, so it becomes more challenging, and tactical steps will also be required more and more as you get deeper into the game.

Unfortunately held down by odd design choices and weak story.
Quirks:
- A monk wearing converse sneakers?
- Camera is too zoomed in, an option to adjust it would have been good.
- It feels like the upgrade screen was implemented as an afterthought. It looks awkward, navigates awkwardly and performs a very limited function.
- Unable to rebind controller mappings means you're stuck with some awkward button choices
- Clipping issues mid combat, some hits register, some don't, this works for both you and enemies
- While there is a parry system, there's no real benefit in using it. If you're surrounded by enemies you'll be 'parry locked' preventing you from doing any meaningful follow up attacks. 99% of the time you're better off rolling away and re-engaging.

The controls are tight and responsive and not over complicated so the learning curve is almost non existent. The controls are a little funny on a keyboard so play it with a controller if you can. The game itself is not hard, you'll finish it pretty quickly. I have 14.6hrs on this game and in that time I played through it twice the second time on the hardest difficult and I got all the achievements. That should give you an idea of the length of the game.
The level design is decent. The environments are distinct from one another and offer and the different levels offer different ways to dispatch you enemies. There is a nice variety of enemies with different attack patterns that offer some challenge. The sound design is excellent and the music is good, non-intrusive and helps to enhance the game play experience effectively.
Redeemer is a solid all round game but doesn't break any new ground, not that it tries to. It's a game that is designed to be a fun, beat-em-up and it does achieve that. I do wish the game was longer though. I will be keeping an eye out for a Redeemer 2

At first Redeemer looks like a pretty intense but standard brawler game. Vasily hits and kicks fast, does combos and by rolling he can move around quickly. Then you notice the many objects you can pick up for use as well as the items in your environment to use for executions. Then later on enemies with guns will appear. After each kill their dropped weaponry will remain at your disposal.
Later stages introduce new, more diverse locations, new environmental objects / interactables for even more brutal fatalities, bigger guns and even bigger melee weapons. As you look around you can find tablets and scrolls to level up Vasily which happens anyway as you make progress. The game is actually pretty bloody due to the executions that can even follow-up a series of combos you regularly do. Stealth is also an option if enemies don't look. Boss fights stand out a little as they require some patience on your end after you've just gotten used to a fast-paced, one-man-army massacre.
Honestly, beside one or two boss battles I don't have anything against Redeemer. It looks decent (I particularly liked the close-up shots when Vasily is about to perform an execution), its action is non-stop and while some later stages (of the 15 available) give you the same factory-laboratory-prison look combat will remain satisfying and visceral. Arena is an added feature that is not worth mentioning and while your glossary in the pause menu gets extended as you make progress with the story Vasily's background remains secondary. Instead, enjoy his rage against his foes!

YANOGA REVIEW
GRAPHICS - ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
On Ultra the Game looks good. Somethings the Animations are a bit clunky and overall the Look is bloody and brutal. 3 Themed Worlds with different Styles. Find it good but nothing really blew my mind or was really memerable.
MUSIC - ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
Nothing what was annoying but my playthrough is like 15 Minutes ago and I can't even remember how the music sounded like. Very generic but ok.
STORY - ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆
The only reason the Story exist is to have a reason to slaughter 120382 People. Really uninspired.
GAMEPLAY - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
Kratos on Cocaine is slaughtering everybody in Diablo View with Batman Series Style Combat. Very satisfying Gameplay which kept me playing. In the 2 World its get kind of annoying but overall there are nice Enemys, Weapons and Kill-Possibilitys.
WORTH BUYING - ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
If you are a Fan of Top-Down-Shooter then you can give this one a look. But only buy it if you're in the Mood for 3-4 Hours brainless killing with no more depth. 1-2 Times I was a blink away from closing the Game. But overall it runs fine and if you're looking for a game like this or you can get it for 1-2€ like me - Go Ahead!
LENGTH : Mainstory 3 1/2 Hours
BUGS : None
PRICE : Got it for 2€

The game has a relatively short storyline with 3 hours of playtime. I liked the campaign very much. The story was nothing special, but still nice. It was good that each level had a differently decorated environment. This made the game less repetitive and the levels were adapted to the story. Once you finish the campaign, there are 2 arena maps where you have to survive 10 waves each. In the last one comes the Big Boss.
About the gameplay itself: Smash the heads of enemies. Whether with bare fists, kicks, weapons or even firearms... everything is allowed and it's fun. In addition, you can also upgrade your character (especially the weapon skills), even though he is already incredibly strong.
Graphically, the game is fine. The ambience is great, and the music is absolutely fitting. So, everything is coherent.
Great game for a fair price. I can only recommend it to everyone.

While its not necessarily a great game experience that you should definitely not skip, redeemer is the type of game that you spot during a sale for a ridiculously cheap price and once you start playing in a single sitting or two you already finished it, its a short game taking around 4 hours to beat but its the type of a short experience that probably are going to give you a good time, the combat is satisfying and has tons of weight, I like twin stick shooters and this game initially being mostly melee based just doesnt waste time to give you guns, playing as a badass monk tearing apart a bunch of soldiers was pretty cool to me, theres nothing inherently unique or memorable about it but its fun and theres also coop to blast with a friend, they nailed the mechanics of the combat here so I think anyone who enjoys a good fast paced combat will like it, its pretty challenging too, worth checking out if what I said above interested you.

I played the story mode on hardcore and the game wasn't hard at all even the beginning can be a little tough since you not use to the controls but It's easy to pickup and play it only took me 4 hrs to beat the whole game and the arena challenges.
The melee in this game is so satisfying as well as the gunplay as you progress it gets even easier and when I max out all my upgrades and perks for some reason you be in god mode and not lose health at all unless you take a very high amount of hits.
I wanted to go full hand to hand combat but as you go further some sections in the game require you to use melee weapons and towards end of the game you mainly gonna use guns a lot.
Overall solid game enjoy every bit of it.

The game is great to play with a gamepad making good use of the various buttons. Combat overall feels pleasantly weighty with each hand to hand blow. Gunplay is very good too with solid sound effects that give all of the guns a powerful sound which helps immersion.
I found the game to be a good length for the horizontal scrolling beat em up that it is. There is a part in the game that made me think the game would be super short but thankfully turned out to be the end of the first stanza only.
On the hard difficulty one up from normal it was challenging but not overly so with some repeats of particular areas but not in a really frustrating way, apart from a couple of places. The game always feels like if you persevere and don't give up on a specific section or boss that advancement is just around the corner.
This has been the first beat em up I've played that I have wanted to complete in a single sitting. On hard difficulty it took me a solid 7 hours to beat and throwing in the quite high production values and addictive nature of the game doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Although not flawless I highly recommend Redeemer to anyone that enjoys a good action game in the vain of Streets of Rage and Final Fight.

I finished the game in less than 4 hours so it is quite short.
Not long enough to get bored of it so it was fun until the very end.

I'll talk about the things I liked first. The combat is fast paced and fun. It feels good to clear a room of threats quickly and move on to the next room. Decent audio design and character animations that make combat feel impactful. You have a light attack, a heavy attack, and environmental kills. There are different melee weapons you can find on the ground both blunt and sharp that are either light, medium, or heavy. Such as knives, axes, pipes, sledge hammers, ecs... so a good melee weapon variety. The shooting is a little awkward because of the top down camera angle but I've played worse, so I got use to it.
On to the bad side this game is buggy. It never crashed on me but NPCs would sometimes teleport when spawning into an area. They would run through a door, attack you, teleport back through the door, and run through it again because the game spawned them in before they finished loading. Some of the enemies have telegraphed attacks and I swear that I've gotten hit by them despite the fact that I dodged well out of the way. There's a certain range that you need to be in for an NPC to see you but it's not very clear. If your standing in a hallway and an enemy NPC is all the way on the other side depending on how far away you are they won't see you despite there being nothing blocking there view of you. This is the games way of trying to stop the cameras limited FOV from getting in the way of the game. But just because the enemy NPC isn't in range of your top down camera that doesn't mean that they can't see you, as well as vice versa. It's hard to figure out how close is to close before getting spotted.
Also when an enemy attacks you the game gives you the option of a counter. The counter in this game isn't a counter it's a block. A counter requires you to be able to hit an NPC after stopping their attack. You need to unlock the ability to have your counter hurt enemies after they hit you. Until then it's just a block despite what the game calls it, so do this as soon as you can. Because otherwise if your fighting three or more enemies at once (which you often will) it becomes an issue. When you block an enemy attack the animation is about half the length it takes for another enemy to line up another attack. So you will be locked in an endless cycle of blocking with only three ways out. One, unlock the perk that turns your block into a real counter. Two, let yourself get hit so you can get some punches and kicks in. Or three, role doge out of the way. The doge in this game is long to let the player avoid the enemies telegraphed and AOE attacks. So you'll need to run back over to the NPC after you do it. This is by far the biggest flaw in this games combat system.
When selecting difficulty I recommend putting the game on hard. The boss fights are kind of lame and the story is very much a video game revenge plot that I've seen a million times. There's co-op but I didn't try it so Buyer Beware.
I had fun with Redeemer and highly recommend buying it on a sail. GG

The plot is like if you put John Wick and Bruce Lee into the same person - The protagonist was so angry he tried to be a monk, almost succeeded, but people with guns came and fucked it up, now he's murdering the fuck out of anyone he sees.
As big a fan of twinsticks, I can't think of one other I'd recommend before this game. Even by itself, this game may deserve being in my top 10 action games. Easy recommend to most people, it will probably grab you in the first few minutes.

The mechanics are fun and the visuals add to it, however, in the later stages there are some weird movement 'puzzles' and difficulty doesn't come through tougher enemies but more enemies in smaller spaces. The final boss is particularly disappointing. Still I got a few hours of good entertainment out of the game and would've probably even considered making a second run through the campaign if not for the weaker later stages.
I'd say get it on >30% sale if you want to smash some heads to a wall without too much thinking going on.

Enter the Дракон
Redeemer is an old-school action title from a Russian developer Sobaka Studio. The player embodies persona of Vasyli - an ex-mercenary, turned a Tibetan monk on a quest for inner peace. Vasyli’s attempts at achieving equilibrium will be cut short, as the game opens with monastery getting invaded by a military force. After roughly 20 second-long hesitation Vasyli returns to his old ways. Now there will be blood, guns and very outward bouts of violence up for the player to deliver. What could possibly be a better way to apprehend a man capable of ripping somebody’s head off with his bare hands? Send in waves of poorly armed grunts, expecting them to beat their quarry into submission, because of course it is.
Resistance is futile
Expecting a story from a game like Redeemer is comparable to entering a steakhouse for their salad menu. It could be a nice touch but it’s hardly the point. Admittedly, the game does try to spin a simple tale of protagonist’s past catching up to him but frankly it fails even as a pretence. This title is bare-bones gameplay, one crushed cranium at a time. For the proper game experience, a gamepad is highly recommended.
Redeemer’s combat seems to draw the most from Hotline Miami, except everyone is much tougher. Especially the protagonist, who not only is able to weather considerable beating – Vasyli also heals himself by executing the enemies. Many adversaries need to be finished off, lest they revive, alas the blood will spill with abandon.

After its inspiration, the weapons in Redeemer are changed on the fly. Axes, wrenches and hammers break after several swings, while guns are replaced instead of being reloaded. Each weapon type has a proficiency skill related to it – punches start dealing more damage, melee weapons oddly become more durable and guns get increased ammunition and new attachments. Every few levels the player gets to choose a perk further improving given combat form. Maxing out Vasyli’s skills is fairly easy - in the final chapters you will have most of the perks unlocked by simply playing the game.
From Tibet with love
The game plays out in 3 vastly different environments, each spanning 5 short levels. Aged interiors of the Tibetan monastery, cut into a prison facility which then transition into a high-tech military facility. Redeemer has a decent selection of enemies with every environment having a set of its own. Grunts from the monastery prevail through most of the game but they move to the background as the prison replaces them with mutated monstrosities. Finally, the military complex is populated by cybernetically enhanced soldiers, some of them wielding energy weapons to add on the futuristic spin of the final chapter.
The variety provided is decent enough to prevent the game from ever becoming stale during its admittedly short run. Redeemer can be comfortably completed in one sitting, taking roughly 4 hours to beat. The prison part of the game is a definite highlight of this title, providing the best pacing and a seemingly endless hordes of enemies to tear through. It was able to create a sensation of frantic adrenaline rush, making the player feel like an unstoppable avatar of war. Other chapters star fewer, tougher enemies, forcing a more methodical approach to combat failing to provide that bliss of mindless violence.
Blunt force trauma
Redeemer is a very down-to-earth game. It has a simple premise of providing brutal action which it delivers decently enough. While keeping things small isn’t a bad thing in itself, in case of this title it seems like a wasted potential. The game appears to be on a verge of something more, yet the general lack of polish affecting every aspect of Redeemer, prevents it from rising above mediocre. It is quite a shame, as the game really has its moments (such as the aforementioned prison), that are instead overshadowed by bugs and overly simplistic design.
To begin with, the game is too easy. It takes the highest difficulty for Redeemer to pose some challenge, and even that holds water only on the early stages. The cybernetic soldiers of the final act are significantly stronger but at this point your character is way too tough even for these foes. For comparison, maxed out character on normal difficulty barely registers damage at all. Adding in on that flaw is how parrying works. Most melee attacks can be parried when the enemy flashes red, simple. Except the parry overrides any attack animation, including other parries. Surrounded by ten enemies? You can simply mash the parry button and Vasyli is nigh untouchable.

Given the game is a bloody gimmick, finishers could be a highlight of the game. Instead they are sullied by wonky camera work. On occasion time slows, the camera pans in and is a few seconds late to the action, instead highlighting a corpse being already discarded. Then there is a myriad of minor things. Enemies sometimes lock into idle animation instead of dying, the forced open doors slam back and then open again to the other side, dialogues start over if the game is paused mid-sentence, and the list simply goes on. Bosses of Redeemer are also lacking, with exception of Berkut, perhaps the only properly established character in the game. The mutant duo is just kind of there, while the final baddie begins his speech in the earnest after being killed, while his minions awkwardly keep spawning and attacking the player despite the game being over already. To every positive aspect of Redeemer there is also something amiss, once you take a closer look.
Press red button for redemption
All things considered; Redeemer is not that bad. If you are a casual player with an evening to spare and wish to spend this time feeling like death incarnate, this just might be the right game. Especially if you can get it on sale. That said, Redeemer seems like it could be a much better title. The comic panels are decent enough, the achievements are really well-made, adding fun little side-objectives to each level. Sadly, the game suffers from chronic lack of fine-tuning, to the point where it fails to stand out among the competition. It’s a short ride and ultimately a forgettable one. Vasyli does deliver on his promise of bloody mayhem, except there are plenty of other indie titles with exact same premise. Playing Redeemer is a time spent well enough as not to regret it, there just isn’t any particular reason to pick this game up, which I believe is saying enough.

Graphics are really good, the amount of detail in finishing off the enemies is remarkable. The level designs certainly have an awesome way to interact as finalizations as well. The rare cutscenes that tell the story are comic book like, and I wished there was a DLC telling more about the main character in a comic book format, that would be great.
Sounds are competently done, each weapon has an unique sound, and hitting someone with a blunt weapon has a different sound of using fists. The ambient sound is a bit attenuated, I believe it focused on listening the enemies on the map. Soundtrack is good, it has some action feeling into it without being annoying in longterm of gameplay.
There is replay value due to the arena mode, but I used that mode for training into the main quest. It unlocks on the main quest, so I played a bit in story mode to unlock a few and then go to the arena mode.
It is an awesome basic beat 'em up top down view game. There are skills that can be increased depending on how much I use my fists or my legs, as well on each weapon that I use. This feature gave a bit more dynamic on the game. I had a lot of fun playing all the levels, and the arena mode. It is a bit short, but well worth the purchase.

Very fun and violent game, but over time it feels repetitive - but that is okay, because almost every game has this
Had to learn how this leveling up system worked. I thought my controls were malfunctioning, but you can only upgrade where there is an exclamation mark, THEN you can upgrade or activate an ability, NOT when the game tells you when to do it... That was really confusing on my end. Maybe I went too fast through the tutorial, that the tutorial wanted me to upgrade something while I already did it... Idk...
Story goes deep, accompanied with a cartoon, very nice. Variation in surroundings, atmosphere, enemies, weapons, interactive & destructive environments... At some occasions I thought I was playing Path of Exiles with a strong scent of God of War - bottomline: a wonderful time waster!
Weapons you pick up are with limited ammo, very nice touch! I like it! Maps are getting bigger the deeper you strand in the story. It get harder and more challenging. You start with a smile and you end with a face of an almost melt-downed hysteria.
I think it plays way better with a controller, I played this game with keyboard & mouse, little bit of frustrations on my end. But that is purely my own problem.
Very delightful killings, almost as... art... With an ocassionally nice penetration of a bullet hitting the flesh... mmmm... This extacy from a top-down game, amazing!

Redeemer was all that. It's classic and perfect example of Less is more. A game based on Glory Kills and fists, with great visuals, great controls and flow in the combat system, and even a bit of flavour behind.
There's not much to say, the game works superbly from start to end of its 4.5 hours. Great experience, very satisfactory. Gets a 80/100 from me.

There is also mis-placed animation of characters (both enemy and player) when you're doing finishing-off execution animation, but that's can be forgiven.
UI is misleading and could be fixed when you upgrade. Some key controls could be used instead of hitting escape key to go back to the game from upgrade menu, etc.
Enough for critiques. Goodies are enemy types, never bored experience which gets me hooked for entire playthrough. With the sale in hands, it's a steal!

After level 5 though, it really drops the ball, the game will nonstop spam the same enemy variety in the dozens amount, levels are boring, unispired and feel like they're just copy and pasted into whatever map editor they used. By the 10th level the gameplay really tires itself out and you wish it was over already. Thankfully you can just ignore enemies for the most part and book it for the hills till the final boss.
Story is pretty bad, music is forgettable. Graphics are okay.
It should have ended at level 5. Then the game would've truly redeemed itself.

My biggest criticism would be the difficulty curve. It's shaped like a normal distribution! The middle of the game has you fighting mutants that can't be hit directly, only with weapons, and some pretty hard creatures that throw acid projectiles. I died a lot in this half of the game. Then you move to the last third of the game and the no more hard enemies! It becomes an interesting challenge, not easy, not hard. I don't know what exactly happened though. Maybe the upgrades were a little behind the expected in the middle of the game, maybe I just got better, or maybe they unknowingly designed harder enemies than they thought. I was almost giving up during some of the mutants part of the game, and the last few chapters I just breeze through without dying a single time. Even the final boss was a pushover.
It's a fun mindless game. I enjoyed it.

It has some sweet environmental kills, some parts of it you can stealth too.
This game is a small mixed bag of everything, and i don't have any complaints, it's a solid game.
I loved every second of it, and i hope there'll be a sequel.
Oh... yes, the game is quite short, i finished it in around 3 hours.
