Das Spiel macht wirklich Spaß. Was schade ist, das der Deutsche Server Opal leider tot ist und man auf den Globalen Emerald spielen muss wenn man spielen möchte. Zwar kann man die Oberfläche auf Deutsch stellen trotzdem wird in allen Chats nur Englisch geschrieben. Und reine Deutsche Crews habe ich bis jetzt nicht gefunden. Und wer kein Englisch kann oder nur schlecht, so wie ich, ist es schon schade wenn man nicht mit anderen schreiben kann. Weshalb ich mit einer Freundin jetzt eine eigene Crew gegründet habe. Und hoffentlich bald auch neue Deutschsprachige Mitglieder zu uns kommen. Aber ansonsten ist das Spiel echt cool gemacht. Die vielen tollen Puzzle, das man mit schiffen herumfahren kann und andere Schiffe angreift. Häuser und Geschäfte kann man auch besitzen. Also anschauen lohnt sich auf jeden Fall.

Damals als ich noch ein Kind war, war es ein Teil meines Lebens geworden. Jetzt wenn ich mir ansehe das keiner dieses Spiel spielt... fühle ich mich als könnte ich nie mehr dieses Spiel spielen.

Trinkt aus Piraten, yoho! Puzzle-Pirates ist ein niedlich gestaltetes Puzzlespiel mit vielen witzigen Ideen. Man kann auf Seereise gehen, Schätze finden und vieles mehr. Es ibt sogar einen PvP-Modus, der den mutigsten Piraten Ruhm und Ehre einbringen wird. Auch kann man das eigene Haus SIMS-like einrichten, sich ein Schiff zulegen (was ziemlich ins Geld geht; vor allem anfangs...), Missionen erfüllen, Jobs annehmen und mit anderen Piraten handeln.
Wer Abwechslung braucht vom hektischen Gamen, der ist in der Welt von Puzzle-Pirates gut aufgehoben.

This game is a JOKE.

Do NOT play through steam!!

The CS in game is useless and steam is glitchy when getting back into your account, despite spending money - even in the thousands.

They will NOT help and NOT get back to you even if you fund their livings.

Ive been playing on and off for 14 years and this is the final straw

I love this game, I'd been playing it since I 9 years old on the old my older brother got me into it, currently 18 and still playing this on and off. I used to play this game constantly, wayyy before it was even on steam. This is the game that actually got me into gaming, it's sad to see its player base grow up and not a whole lot of people play it anymore. still a strong constant 200+ people playing it daily, but do miss the old days. It taught me so much and I'll always be grateful to my brother for showing me this game.

And a store keeping app. friendly pvp app. mind flexibility app. social card games with friends app...

And then I realized.
I had all of the and more in one place a decade ago.

It is still here. It is everything I remember. I love it!

Been playing this game on and off since i was 13.
Now at 25 xD i still play it. Dont judge me. I love this game, maybe not all of the community, but it's nice one when you find your tribe and your rhythm

While old it may be, I'll be damned if Puzzle Pirates isn't the most cooperative fun I've had in lockdown. I thoroughly enjoy the thrill of earning pieces of eight and pillaging ships with a crew, united under one flag. I can't recommend this game enough if you're looking for a good way to consume some time and have some fun!

I've played this game a decade ago and I've got hooked again recently. This game still has it's charm and if you love puzzling, working together with people, and all the joys of mmos' this one is for you. Not only can you be a pirate but you can be whatever you want to be! Shop keeper, poker champion, sailor, captain, treasure hunter, trader, and etc! Don't let it's graphics fool you, this game has so many fascets!

Horrible game, was good before Hera brought this game to the ground with her elitist behavior. If you are a returning player do not bother downloading this game. It's broken and looks like those private server games where one 50 people are allowed to thrive due to GMs banning or blocking everyone else.

At it's peak, with a big enough player base to support it, this game was insanely interesting, unique and a ton of fun. An MMO that focused on the multiplayer aspect, a puzzle game with an economy, player made boats, fuel, weapons all in a cute package.

Had this game been lucky enough to have devs that cared about making the game evolve and get better, this could have been a great game that we would have seen keep it's player base seemingly forever. But it wasn't so lucky. Over time it's become clear that there is no interest from the devs to do anything but reskin existing content and siphon every cent they can without making the smallest bit of effort to try and keep this game fresh and make it interesting for everyone to keep along for the ride.

As it stands there isn't a big enough player base who didn't get fed up to keep these oceans alive which is a damn shame...

The current devs there are completely braindead. All they do is recolor pets and sell them. No one has ever touched the code in that game to even make a slight fix. They also just reintroduce things just to keep their lazy crap going.
I am not sure i can call them developers, I would rathe like to call them degenerators.
Ocean Masters are melting snowflakes there and it is insane.

We need MORE games like Puzzle Pirates.
It's completely unique. Nothing ever comes close to this.
It embodies what MMORPG community has been deprived of for a long time and I doubt any game even remotely resembling Puzzle Pirates will ever be developed.

Used to be a great game about 10 years ago.

Sadly now you can't even join a real player ship if you're a new account. Not many people around too.

Old free to play accounts also get deleted if you didn't pay for anything, so if you leave the game for a while it's the same as a hard reset.

Interesting game to look back to, but not really a good idea to invest many hours into it anymore.

This is an mmo I am glad to have experienced during its peak, though it is now slowly dying it is still an amazingly unique and entirely socially driven MMO.

I really have no idea where to start with this MMO's positives, pretty much everything it does I adore. Every island is owned by players, the shops and economy are entirely player run. You can be hired (or hire people yourself) to help crews navigate the islands to simply transfer goods for sale or to hunt NPC ships/monsters. Everything is entirely puzzle based including the pvp and ship battles. You can go to the inn and gamble your money in a multitude of games, such as hearts, spades, poker or even drinking.

Everything that is to be desired is made by players, the shops make most of their stock and often allows orders for stuff to be made for the more obscure weapons or ships. The store owner can then hire players to do labour in the form of puzzles and depending on their proficiency at said puzzle depends what parts of the order than can work on. Despite the game being so old it is one of the most unique and well made out there. It's a shame the focus on puzzles or its age is slowly killing it as it was so far ahead of its time.

As for the negatives, the main one is its dwindling player base, also the puzzles can become repetitive but the social aspects more than make up for it. I'm struggling to think of many other major gripes I had with the game but it's definitely been a long while since I actively played so I'm likely missing minor gripes/annoyances that I once had.

This game is one of the greats that somehow slid under a lot of peoples radar. I'm not sure how active it still is to this day but if you have the time to dabble its free and definitely worth a try.

It's an MMORPG that is incredibly unique, in that there is no real leveling, grinding, and has an expansive social aspect. I've never played anything like it, and there's something for everyone.

Repetitive puzzles, including puzzles of quite poor quality, and the bulk of content is locked behind paywalls on the default non-subscriber Anglophone server. Most of the higher quality puzzle games are based on other games that you've (assuming you're a puzzle game player) probably already played. Movement on the ship is rather awkward as well.

General chat consisted almost exclusively of people looking to buy and sell items, with the occasional argument accusing someone of cheating. On the rare occasion I played a mission with another player, they were rather quiet before and after the mission -- making the experience feel rather lonely. There are many great people in the game, so if you decide to play the game -- definitely check out the forums and Discord to see if you can find a group to play the game with. It's definitely better with friends than going into it alone.

It's a niche game for the audience seeking a massively multiplayer, casual puzzle game experience with a pirate theme. so If that is what you are looking for, then definitely check it out. As a stand alone gaming experience, it's excessively grindy and repetitive, and it feels like a relic of web gaming that has long-since past.

One of the best games and fondest memories of my childhood. Don't let the steam Release Date deceive you, this gem is from the year 2003! Even though I was always mediocre in most of the puzzle the game had to offer, this game was one of the best in its time. Sadly, time has a way with everyone and some poor judgement from the developers part sent this Treasure of a game to the depths of the sea. Even though the game is still alive and well, it will probably forever be shaded in its own past glory.

But I still highly recommend this game to anyone who never tried it before. It is a thrill to learn and friendships made on the sea tends to stand the tests of time.

I first played this game back in the early 2000s. It was fun then.
After almost what....12-15 yrs...? Pretty much the same stuff.
Dont get me wrong, its fun...for a short while. Until they decide to merge some servers (ocean) or something and a mass reset happens. I have experienced it twice and its not fun. The developers suck.
A good game but they dont know how to keep the players playing. Dont waste your time on this.

I love the game but until there's some sort of option to avoid the PVP aspect I won't be playing it any more. I want the option to select PVP or PVE based on if/when I'm in the mood for either - sometimes you just want to get on a ship in a beautiful ocean and chill, sometimes you want to have a fun adventure with your friends, and most of the time I don't want to get jumped heading into port with the 2 hours of loot on board by people who can only find enjoyment in screwing other people over.

I feel for the devs as there seems to be no way of appeasing both the newer/potential PVE player base who want the option of playing the game in whatever way they want, and the older PVP base that will ragequit if you remove their influx of newbz to pwn. Hopefully a solution can be found, otherwise I recommend that the marketing more clearly shows that the PVP is unavoidable and that any PVE aspects cannot be enjoyed without risking an unbalanced PVP encounter that might sour your experience.
So to any prospective buyers: buy only if you like *unavoidable* PVP.

A paragon of it's time. Your dopamine receptors will cease to function out of pure shock and overuse from your first point and click, rendering the entire medium of virtual entertainment dull. In hindsight, I wish I never found out about Puzzle Pirates. After feeling the rush of that first playthrough life itself has lost all meaning. Sex, money, and power pale in comparison to the the sheer electric ecstasy I felt playing this video game. Turn back.

Puzzle Pirates is a dying game, yes, but it holds so much clout and charm that it will forever be one of my favorite games to play.

Yes it's unforgiving to get into, unless you have some rich friends in game, but the content and the depth of the game are near unparalleled. This IS the ultimate pirate MMO experience.

Player run econ, exciting PVP battles, a warm loving community, this game has it all, just not the player base it once did.

I still find myself coming back every once in a while after 13+ years of playing. Truly an uncovered gem of a game.

The best puzzle game for years. Even though it is an old game, I just keep coming back to Puzzle Pirates. It greatly helps in calming down as well as training our mind, eyes, attention, and problem solving.

Honestly i'm really upset about what was done to this game. The developers really had something special in their hands but bad decisions ruined it for me and i think for a lot of people as well. The first really bad decision was their directive of deleting non paying accounts that didn't log in after a relatively small timeframe, which really is the key thing that made me stop playing this for the first time around 12 years ago because it wiped all the progress i had with that account as well as my friend list among other things. Then there's the existence of poker, which by itself made several other minigames kind of pointless because it was too easy for good poker players to just make a lot of PoE off the bad players and that ruined the game's economy and the fun for a lot of people. The high doubloon cost of badges and some important items to give you an advantage on certain puzzles and the fact they all had expiry dates also worked well to drive a large number of F2P players away from the game. All in all it was just a lot of greedy and poor decisions that contributed to it's downfall rather than the game being just technically outdated or overshadowed by others.

This makes me sad because to me Puzzle Pirates was a pretty special game and so far i haven't seen anything quite like it around, but in 2020 this is a corpse of a game, really no longer worth playing, and sadly without the mismanagement this game could've still been popular nowadays just like EVE online still is. If anything it might be better if the game died off and we saw some spiritual successor appear.

Clever variety of puzzles. Great community, active a lot on Emerald Ocean servers. Fun & relaxing. No need to spend any money b/c in game currency is enough for everything (at least for me) Worth checking out

I've loved this game, but be warned. The server populations are plummeting, the admin support is nearly nonexistent...it's dying. They've effectively killed off one of the servers, to the point where there simply isn't enough player activity there to do multiplayer activities on it, but you cannot move your stuff from that server. If you have a hundred dollars worth of stuff on your character there? Sorry, you chose the wrong server. Better start over from scratch.

If it were actually possible for me to play this game with the stuff I've purchased and built up over time, I'd gladly give this game a good review. As it is, be super cautious -- research this game before choosing which server to play on, and consider strongly if this game is really right for you.

I hate puzzles, but this is one of the best MMOs I have ever played. It is the most in-depth pirate game I have seen in my entire life. Today's pirate games are bare-bones compared to this. I only wish this was more popular again, or got a revamped sequel proper.

Apparently if you've been playing this game for any period of time(in my case I have over 700 hours on this a Dark Seas, and beat a dude at one of the puzzles, getting called a botter in the process, they ban you without review. Do not buy, do not recommend a dying game because of the existing community.

Growing up, this was one of my favorite games. Unfortunately, like basically everything Three Rings/Grey Havens owned, it was sucked dry by SEGA when they added a bunch of obnoxious lootboxes and handed it back off, like lending your bro your favorite controller and getting it back a week later all grodulated with cheese-nip residue.

It's still a fun game, and the lootboxes are optional, but after Grey Havens got it, the only attempt at an 'update' was Dark Seas, which was a separate server which was also dumped.

I don't think this game has had any significant updates in half a decade.

If you can make it past that, and you like puzzle games, this is a great free to play game.

so i played for a bit and the puzzles were ok, but all of them were worse versions of free things you can play on your phone

but hey, maybe sailing with friends will be fun

unfortunately, in order to get the smallest boat to go sailing with friends you either need to shell lots of real money for premium currency, or get about 200,000 of free currency (few dozen hours of singleplayer grinding) in order to get everything you need

there are better games to invest that kind of time into

Play it through the official launcher, not steam.
This game just had a resurgence of players as of this review so this is a good time to revisit an underrated old classic.

Edit: Lol no nvm. Doubloon prices are inflated as hell, and the game still isn't bringing in new players due to the screwed up exchange system.

I played Puzzle Pirates back when it first came out, enjoyed it then. Years later, it is still enjoyable to play. Wish i could get my old account back.

Great MMO! Used to play back in the mid 2000s and the game holds up decent! Could use a remaster or YPP2 but still fun!

I played it a while back and the tiny print killed what little fun I did find. I liked one or two of the mini games and not much else.

Great role-playing game with a large variety of puzzles and missions for different users to enjoy. Glad to see an uptick in the player base again, this game still holds up over 10 years later.

Great brain exercise and the social aspect of the game makes it extremely worthwhile. Build your own reputation in a multitude of different puzzles to scratch nooks of your brain that you have not tickled in a long time, create your own crew - or join someone else's and work your way up the ranks! - buy your own ship (remember to haggle, that's pirate life for ye!) and participate in adventures with your friends and those that aren't yet!

Good for people who enjoy puzzles but not for the sake of just puzzling. Being good at the puzzles means more than just hi scores and bragging rights, having the results turn into game rewards.

While the game is much quieter now than in its heyday, at least one of the oceans still has enough traffic to make the game functional and enjoyable. I downloaded the game the other day after not playing in a decade (give or take), and it's still a fun way to pass a few hours.

Oldie & goodie! The challenges are just good fun, thinky type matching games but the interactions are fascinating - you need a good crew of players to match up to the higher level challenges. A problem is that the super players have set the bar fairly high for the puzzle games... to get an excellent means that you've truly done a fantastic job on the puzzle. Might be nice to have an 'easy mode' for beginners & young-uns, but a big hearty piratey thanks to the 3-rings folk who've kept this game running. Yarr!

This game was a good oldie of mine back in the day. It's still got an active player base (on Emerald ocean anyway) and the puzzles are solid. There are bots to pillage against and getting dubloons (the premium currency) Isn't too too hard with player pillages and seamonster hunts.

that being said this is NOT an instant gratification sort of game, you take your time to level your stats and earn your pieces of eight.
