Über das Spiel
Pure Rock Crawling is a game build around the concept of making the best tire and the best suspension simulation. The main goal was to create a slow, immersive ride throughout rocky trails, forest hills and flat deserts. That kind of ride is the best way to admire beauty of rock crawling.
the Challenge - Pure and Simple
The challenge is simple: on trail you will find ten gates composed of two cones, none of which should be touched or tripped. For every gate passed you will be awarded with points, for every cone tripped you will loose them. Be precise and concentrated to gather as much points as you can, but be aware of the ticking clock, so be careful with the throttle ! Too much or too little can doom you.
Pure Rock Crawling encourages you to take on this challenge to unlock new maps and customization items.

But for a game that sells itself partly as the best tire simulation, it's a shame that after all this time, tire choice still makes no difference to traction. It's mainly for looks. What's worse, the last update broke the brake pedal functionality (for wheel users) and it doesn't look like the dev considers this a priority to fix. The last update also introduced engine braking, but it doesn't scale with the gear you're in. I'd say even just for rock crawling and much more to do, stick with BeamNG as the physics there are far better.

It's something I should have done a long time ago, the core gameplay is solid, and trying to complete courses without hitting any cones is a great, and addictive, challenge. I love that it's not against the clock, just pure precision and skill.
Totally worth the entry price, a lot of fun.

The new map is awesome Btw you have done a really good job on this map. I have been to moab irl and i know the exact trail that used for one of the trails on the map, that trail being Hells revenge. The textures are also on point. :)

What I'd like to see from this game.
The gearing is a bit whacky, and this is something EVERY offroading game gets wrong and hopefully you guys can be the first to get it right. If i am in low range first gear the vehicle should not roll backwards so quickly on an incline if I let off the gas, as well as rolling down so fast on a descent. My 4runner with 4.88 gearing which is far from ideal for rockcrawling does a better job than the ones in game at least when it comes to descending, its almost like the second you are going down something the gearing just disappears and you find yourself slamming on the brakes putting your ass up in the air.
Also IRL if you have your lockers engaged you are not going to be able to turn, you guys should implement that for realism and also so people cant just pop the lockers on and leave them on without any draw backs.
The game looks great, but it lacks immersion and again this is something all offroading games fail at. Please give us some type of crowd of on lookers watching and react vocally to what you are doing, imagine going up a difficult obstacle and a small crowd is cheering you on, taking pictures or reacting accordingly if you flip the vehicle ect it would definitely get you hyped and feel immersed. Currently the game just feels like a dead lifeless universe.
Oh and please add a 3rd gen 4runner :)

Maps are insanely small with assets scattered everywhere.
I've played free rock crawling apps on my phone that have bigger and better maps and customization.
Only 4 vehicles with little customization. Paint stencil options are ugly.
If only this game had Workshop Content. It would save it.

-Great concept.
-Great graphics.
-Great sound.
-Plenty of gameplay.
-Multiplayer.
Cons
-Useless jump button that is not needed.
-Horrible physics.
-Horrible gearbox controls.
-Horrible throttle control.
-Horrible braking physics.
-Dev that puts out useless updates that don't fix anything, and instead add useless livery instead.

Just rock crawling in different biomes with different chassis setups brings pure joy.
The worst thing about this game is probably, that there is no 'career'. You go through the stages and just try to avoid the cones. You play the game to drive over some rocks and not for progress in a story-mode, career or competitions.
Best thing about this game (currently june 2021) are quite regular updates. The game is looked after and new features, customisations, trucks and other content gets added. Kudos to the team for updating.

It does have its glitches and bugs, but the developer is super faithful with coming out with quarterly updates that add a variety of new things. It's just one guy doing all this, yet I believe he's made a rock crawling game that has come the closest to what it's like to go jeeping.
It'd be awesome if they'd add in some multiplayer trail rides kinda like the Slick Rock trails in Moab Utah, USA. Nothing timed. just something that's a legitimate rock trail that's difficult but fun to do with friends like in real trail rides.
Also, if winches could be added to attach to desired points, rocks, trees, and other vehicles, that'd be awesome especially for multiplayer!
Long story short, if you enjoy jeeping/rock crawling, then this is a great game to try out! Have fun!

Some Thoughts:
-The rear suspension on the vehicles needs longer linkages to look more realistic
-Engine breaking is too weak in low range 1st gear, also gearing could be a little lower for propper crawling, the cars are too fast
-The cones react a little weird, some fall over propperly, some get marked without being touched at all.
-The map boundarys should maybe be marked somehow

It is a (very good) simulation.
That said, Pure Rock Crawling is a relaxing, yet challenging game, and a nice way to test your (RC-)crawling skills.
Don't expect action.
The physics and graphics are very realistic.
Plus, the devs are coming up with new (multiplayer-) content quite frequently.

This game has lots of potential!
It is currently very early in development. It curently got 4 cars, a few maps, and a multiplayer mode under test. If it gets an workshop eventually, this game will be flooded with good content!

An i'm sure the developer is leading to make this a competitive online time trail/ Rock crawling competition but i can see much more then that. if he figured out deformation for snow an mud it would be amazing, lowering tyre pressures, winching each other, going through deep river crossings.. an even allowing modders to make maps!
I know a lot will think well that's basically just the Spin-Tires Franchise all in one.. but no, this game has way more potential, the graphics alone are amazing already.. this game beats many by far! All cars are modelled for realism an look perfect!
Now yes there is games like this, but i think with more good psychics it would take over. Such things as wheel support, even a clutch button for keyboards, headlight switch, GoPro camera angles, drones to get pictures, wild life, revving your engine too much will cause it to overheat.. Now for money i think keep the whole competition aspect of the game for cash ... and then make the players purchase their vehicles an upgrade them.. but each time they go trailing if they break something that car stays like that till they pay for it to be fixed. as it would add a certain level of caution to driving. working UHF/CB radio, GPS, Ai cars on roads an have a town for where you meet up with friends for trails.
I know some will say well this game isn't a free-roam, but imagine the possibilities with this game.. I'd personally pay good money for a experience as such.
Yes there is bugs as I'm sure many others have stated but again its a early access as of right now.

I would recommend this game for a more mature player that wants something a little slower than the regular Bejazzled idiotic 4x4 race games.
Move through the gates quickly but slowly.
I've owned this game quite a while now and the guy just keeps plugging away patch by patch refining what was already pretty darned good at what it did.
This Dev deserves your support.
Double thumbs up here.
I did not receive this product for free,Early Access I paid around 20 Euros and it was worth every penny even in its early days.
Support this Dev :)

CURATOR REVIEW
Maciej Kuzianik's Pure Rock Crawling is not for everyone. If you are a fan of offroading, rock climbing in particular, and realistic physics - Go for it. You won't find any better alternative.

Id recommend to the Devs to implement a bigger more free roam map with multiple types of 4wdriving areas, Mud, Sand, Rocks, Hills etc.. Even add multiplayer and more cars etc, obvious things could make this game great. Easily could be better than the spintires crap.

This is very cool, I will totally buy it again if this is addressed. It looks gorgeous and the simulation appears very in-depth. Don't really want to refund a single-dev title so I'll give it a few days. I just don't have any guarantee that I'll be able to play it.
The controls will not map. No matter what settings you choose, you will not get any pedal input to work besides a half/half forward/reverse throttle on your Throttle pedal, as in any input past 50% is forward throttle, and less than 50% is reverse throttle, with a violent stab of the brakes as you pass the 50% threshold. Alternatively, I can map it so that throttle pedal on/off becomes forward/reverse, as in depressing the throttle makes me move forward at a specific, non-changing rate, and releasing the throttle causes the same thing to happen in reverse.
Brake can not be mapped. There is also no clutch or shifter support. Steering works fine but the Force Feedback is very violent and doesn't match the feeling of a real 4x4 wheel.
The fact that I have to quit to the main menu in order to map controls made this troubleshooting process quite frustrating.
I feel like an auto-detect mapping tool would fix this.
This was tested on a Pedal>Wheelhub>PC configuration, as opposed to a Pedal>PC + Wheelhub>PC configuration.

Few things i would personally want in this game:
- More Offroading maps
- Bigger range of Addons to the vehicles
- Multiplayer would be mint!
- Bigger maps in general with a variety of terrain like mud and rocks together ect ect...
- For wheel support, manual with clutch would be pretty cool for wheel users like myself
- Winch support for when you roll instead of restarting
Please keep working on this game and improving it :)

customization, etc has a long way to go imo.
if your excited to play some crawling outside of mud or spin it is worth looking at.
there have been some recent updates and posts from the dev.
looking forward to expanded options, like i said potential is there, just think it is put in the wrong places sometimes, like the driver update, that added very little to the game play.
