Über das Spiel

Outlaws of the Old West is a massively multiplayer survival MMO with a huge world, thousands of items and a modular building system. Survive the wild, build your own homestead, defeat villainous bandits and work with others to tame the Wild West.

Multiple biomes and changing weather affect not only the types of resources you can harvest, but also the animals you encounter.
The scale of the environment and harsh climates will challenge the player's knowledge of the land and ability to survive.
Launching with an initial massive play area of 144km^2 that will only get larger it's easy to get lost in the wilderness.

Use anything you can get your hands on to survive.
Satisfy your basic needs such as hunger and thirst and protect yourself against dangerous predators like animals, bandits, and other players.
Preperation, wit, and a strong gumption are necessary to withstand the harsh environment.
The temperature and climates will also affect your ability to survive so be sure to bundle up!

With a real-time day to night cycle, temperature, and changing weather, one must be prepared to endure the elements.
After the sun sets, nocturnal wildlife and lower visibility make for a fun and different experience.
Be prepared for a frigid night as temperature will drop!

A multitude of tools are at your disposal to craft, farm, or build your own home.
There is a tool for every need.
As you progress, you will discover there are many uses for each.

From arrows to bullets to buckshot, dozens of weapons and ammo types can be crafted to hunt or fend off unwanted guests.
With melee to long range, there is a weapon to suit your every need.
Go wild with explosives if you're feeling destructive or use a slingshot to get the job done quietly!

A plethora of varying wildlife roam throughout the land.
Some species may even be tamed.
Make sure you are properly equipped as not all are friendly!

Hunt animals for survival.
Gather their resources to satisfy hunger or even dress your character.
However, if you are unprepared, you may find yourself dinner for a hungry critter!

Enjoy leisure time with some good old-fashioned fishing.
Try your luck with a rod or fish traps, but you will most likely need some bait first!

Use your tools to craft items, chop trees for wood, farm the land or mine for precious minerals and ore.

Build your very own cabin in the woods or a ranch for you and your posse.
The land to build on is boundless, any area you can walk on can be a perfect place for your new home or business!
The structural support system, ability to rotate at any angle, and destruction tools make for a more realistic building process.
A detailed and in-depth modular building system makes it all possible.

Mix and match hundreds of clothing and items to create your own personalized Wild West fashion.
Craft as many outfits as you want and you'll never have to wear the same thing twice!

What is travel in the Old West without a horse?
Find a desirable mount and tame it to make it your very own.
Don't forget to give it a name.

Trade with other players to create a thriving community.
If you trade through the Auction House, you may end up having a bidding war with fellow players.
Though be careful who you do business with in lawless lands.

Craft wagons to transport large amounts of goods to distant locations.
Set off on a journey through the west or sell a ride to a stranger.
The utility of wagons in the west should not be overlooked.

Fend off crazed miners while mining for riches.
We all hope to strike gold!

Gain experience through your actions in the game and level up your character's stats to become the toughest in the west.
Careful of your actions they will affect your player's morality.
You may become wanted and NPC bounty hunters will be on your tail.
Players may also seek to claim the bounty on your head, if you're an outlaw.

Spiel wird nicht fertiggestellt. Hersteller reagiert nicht. Es ist nicht verständlich, warum das Spiel noch verkauft werden darf. Es wird ja offenbar nicht weiterentwickelt. Finger weg!

Im Winter Sale für glaube ich vier Euro gekauft und nichtmal die ist dieses Spiel Wert.
Komplett verbugt. Eigentlich nicht spielbar. Eine Frechheit hier überhaupt Geld zu verlangen.

Der Ansatz des spiel ist gut hab in den spiel 58 h verbracht und für einen jahr Pausiert weil es noch sehr verbugt ist. Leider ist das Spiel seit über 1 Jahr kein Patch / Update mehr gekommen was ich echt schade finde.
Ich hoffe das die Entwickler bald wieder an das Spiel weiter Arbeiten und wieder Patch / update raus bringen
werden. Ich würde es mir auf jeden fall wünschen. Solange keine neue Updates kommen ist meine Bewertung negativ.

Generell ist es ein fantastisches MMO RPG. Schon lange nicht mehr ein so gutes Flat Game gespielt. Wenn Da nicht der riesen Park an Servern wäre. Ich würde so gern erleben, das alle Server einfach zusammen gelegt werden....

Aber ansonsten, wirklich eines der besten Flat Games für mich im Jahre 2021.

Schade, seit gut einem Jahr keine Updates mehr. Das Spiel ist voller Fehler, welche einem die Lust am Spielen schnell nehmen. Die Grundidee wäre super aber die Umsetzung ist eine Zumutung.

Man kann sehr viel verschiedenes bauen.

Eigentlich ist das Spiel gut mit sehr viel potential. Aber es ist einfach langweilig.

Am Anfang macht es sehr viel Spaß, man schaut was so alles möglich ist, baut seine Basis oder Haus auf, ect...

Ich habe jetzt eine etwas längere Pause gemacht und wollte nun sehen, was sich getan hat. Ehrlich gesagt, ist mir nichts aufgefallen...

Mal abgesehen von den Bugs (z.B. Tiere bewegen sich nicht) ist das Spiel auch im PVE Modus einfach total langweilig. Es gibt einfach überhaupt keinen Schwierigkeitsgrad. Du hast immer genug zu essen und trinken. Banditen greifen nicht an wenn du dich nicht näherst, Tiere greifen nicht an, wenn du dich nicht näherst.

Kein Schwierigkeitsgrad.

Wenn es wenigstens so wäre, dass mit steigendem Besitz Banditenangriffe stattfinden oder ab und zu wilde Tiere vorbei kommen, dann hätte das Spiel im PVE Modus wenigstens eine Chance. Aber so ist es einfach total langweilig in meinen Augen.

Es wundert mich nicht dass die Server so leer sind. Am Anfang war viel mehr los aber jetzt nur noch kaum..schade

Ich weiß dass das Spiel (immer noch) im Early Access ist und ich hoffe, dass die Entwickler meine Rezension zu herzen nehmen, aber so sehe ich keine gute Zukunft für das Spiel, sorry

Meiner Meinung nach fehlt im Spiel einfach ein Schwierigkeitsgrad und ein Ziel oder Story

Wenn sich jemand überlegt dieses Spiel zu Kaufen, rate ich Definitiv davon ab.

- Das Spiel besitzt Unmengen an Bugs
- Letztes Update 7/2020
- Man hört nichts mehr vom Entwickler
- Nicht mal 5 Std Spielspaß da die Bugs kein Vorankommen ermöglichen

Wenn zu 95% im Angebot kann man sich das Spiel zulegen, aber mehr als 2€ ist es mittlerweile nicht mehr wert. Wenn man wüsste ob noch Updates kommen, dann bis dahin warten. Für mich war es zu 100% ein Fehlkauf.

Gutes Spiel mit viel potenzial. Leider wird dieses Spiel nicht mehr weitergemacht und das schon seit einiger Zeit.
Steam verkauft dieses Spiel seitdem dennoch weiter um Profit mit einem niemals fertig werdenden Spiel zu machen. Ich sehe das als reine Abzocke seitens Steam / Valve.
Auf eine ausführliche Rezension verzichte ich mal an der Stelle, da dieses Spiel leider nicht mehr weiterentwickelt wird und noch zahlreiche Bugs im Spiel enthalten sind, die das spielen unschön machen.

AUF KEINEN FALL KAUFEN und Steam / Valve bei dieser Abzocke bereichern. Steam / Valve sollte sich schämen unfertige EA-Titel die abgebrochen wurden über Monate hinweg noch teuer zu verkaufen. Das grenzt schon an Betrug!
Im Übrigen sollte wohl alles was mit Snail Games zu tun hat von Steam verbannt werden, da dieses Unternehmen dieses ständig so handhabt.

Das Game an sich hat sehr viel Potenzial.
Es gibt sehr viele coole Sachen zum bauen und craften.
Aber leider reicht das nicht aus um eine positive Wertung zu geben.
Scheinbar wird an diesem Game nicht mehr gearbeitet. Das letzte Update kam im Juni.
Und ein Spiel, welches nicht fertig geworden ist, kann man nur negativ bewerten.
Wäre das Game wenigstens in einem guten Zustand, könnte man das ja einigermaßen verkraften.
Aber das Game ist so dermaßen verbuggt, dass es fast unspielbar ist.
Auch die Performance ist absolut schlecht.
Und die Server sind einfach nur laggy.
Schade...wieder einmal ein gutes Beispiel dafür, wie Potenzial einfach verschwendet wird.
Würde man sich als Dev. mal richtig in das Game reinhängen, könnte es eines der besten Building-Games werden.
Aber so....tja...leider verkackt!

Wenn man sich als kreativen Spieler sieht, dann ist das Spiel auf jeden Fall etwas für diesen Typ. Wobei sich die Kreativität zu einem Großteil auf die Fähigkeit zu bauen bezieht. Das Bestehen von Kämpfen der Banditen-Bots und der wilden Tiere, die einen angreifen können, ist auch für wenig geübte Spieler schnell zu schaffen. Allerdings sollte man dafür schon gute Waffen besitzen. Wer allerdings auch mal gerne auf das Kämpfen verzichten kann und will, und sich in bautechnischen Elementen austoben will, der kommt mit Sicherheit auf seine / ihre Kosten. Alleine das Erkunden der Map, die abwechslungreich gestaltete Map bei einer guten Grafikauflösung ist auch schon ein Erlebnis für sich. Gruß Klaus

Bin seit Start dabei, das Spiel sieht soweit nett aus und hat Potential..................

Das wars dann zum guten, seltene Updates die aber wenig bringen, ok, ist ein kleines Team das jetzt noch nebenbei wie man hört ein anderes Spiel bastelt.

Singleplayer ist totlangweilig obwohls ein paar Banditen gibt aber das Gunplay ist, nunja, semioptimal. Man kann alles ab Start bauen soweit man die Materialien hat und die sind reichlich vorhanden. Wofür aber verschiedene Knarren bauen, man nimmt die effektivsten und der Rest ist Deko, wie das meißte im Spiel weil mehr oder weniger nutzlos

Man kann nichtmal aus dem Spiel raus nen neuen Charakter oder Map starten und das seit beginn nicht. Dafür muß man auf Steam die Cloud ausschalten, dann den Saveordner suchen und löschen und dann noch im Gameordner Dateien von Hand löschen obwohl die Funktion im Menü vorhanden ist aber schlicht und ergreifend nicht funktioniert.

Und so sieht es mit den übrigen Bugs auch aus, es passiert wenig bis nichts bzw manches wurde auch verschlimmbessert.

Mein Eindruck ist das daß Spiel aufgegeben wurde, aus welchen Gründen auch immer aber es passiert einfach nichts wesentliches in der Entwicklung.

Ich habs jetzt deinstalliert............

Hi, ich finde das Spiel hat gutes Potential und hoffe das es weiter entwickelt wird. Im Moment kommen zwar updates aber die große Verbesserung war noch nicht dabei. Es verschwinden Fallen und Häuser und bauen kann manchmal knifflig sein. Ich gebe eine positive Bewertung ab weil mir das Spiel gut gefällt und ich es gerne weiter spielen möchte.

Ein ganz tolles Spiel sehr Lustig und mit den Pferden echt gras Toll an die Entwickler wen noch die Eisenbahn noch weichen bekommen würden und das man noch Tunell selber graben könnten wäre es der Hammer .Ich Spiele es sehr gerne den mein spiel wahr rust jetzt es es das !!!!:)

Man kann nur eines sagen, eine Katastrophe dieses Spiel. Early Access OK, aber das ist nicht einmal Alpha. Vieles wurde schon längst beanstandet, aber leider nicht behoben. Angefangen bei der Grafik, bei der Steuerung und letztendlich bei der Performance. Alles irgendwie mässig bis schlecht. Jetzt beginne ich schon zum x-ten mal bei Null, da tot. Der Dead Body liegt irgendwo, nur nicht da wo das Kreuz ist. Also jetzt alles wieder weg. Leider etwas Geld in den Sand gesetzt. Diesen Entwickler merke ich mir, damit ich nicht noch einmal hereinfalle.

Das Spiel an sich ist Super und hat viel potenzial aber es ist noch voller bugs und das macht es sehr Schwierig dabei zu bleiben, ein beispiel das die meisten verstehen- ich habe etwas gecraftet ca. 10 min vor dem server restart, nach dem S. Restart war es nicht mehr da und die verbrauchten Resis waren auch weg, das macht auf dauer kein spass leider, ich werde wieder spielen wenn die bugs behoben sind bis dahin lass ich es und spiele nicht weiter, aber wer es jetzt kauft macht kein Fehlkauf, noch ist es günstig später wird das spiel Teuere sein wenn die bugs behoben sind und viele leute es Kaufen

This game sucks(for now), its worse then Ark Survival Evolved when it was in his Early Accses! The building in the game is just an HUUUUUUGE pain in the ass the say it like that! U cant build a proper house with a nice roof without adding 500 walls/pillar! U need support if u want to build over a certain hight! Building a proper town is not working with this desaster of building! This game is about 80% of building and if this is not proberly done the game sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HOPE U FIX THIS SOON CAUSE THIS GAME HAS MUCH POTENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ich habe das Spiel gespielt, da es potential hat.
- Allerdings ist der Onlinefortschritt nach 2 Wochen inaktivität gelöscht worden (Alle Gebäude und Bauten wurden gelöscht, nur die Tiere die einem gehörten sind noch vorhanden gewesen.

- Im Einzelspieler wird nichts gelöscht, dort ist es also erlaubt zu Verreisen (im Gegensatz zum Onlinemodus)!

Schade. Es hätte so schön sein können. Das spiel hat mir gut gefallen, hatte auch Potential. Jedoch ist es für mich mit diesem BattlEye Zwang unspielbar. Ich will auf meinem Server mit einem Spiel was ich gekauft hab machen was ich will ohne dass mit ein BattlEye einen Strich durch die Rechnung macht und ggf. das Spiel dann komplett wertlos wird, durch einen dummen fehler. Es sollte so wie in Conan gemacht werden, Offizielle Server brauchen BattlEye, inoffizielle nicht. Und die Server die BattleEye aktiv haben, bekommen ein Symbol. So ist jede Seite zufrieden.

Wenn die optionale Option kommt würde das meine Meinung ins positive ändern.

Das meiste ist in deutscher Sprache,momentan gibt es keine Stadt man kann aber verschiedene Gebäude bzw Geschäfte selbst bauen / kaufen oder die von anderen Spielern nutzen.Alle Tiere kann man jagen,Rohstoffe sind kein Problem und es ist eine sehr große Karte :) .Vieles muss sicher noch gemacht werden,aber es wird immer weiter dran gearbeitet ;)

Nun, es ist eine schöne Idee, als Cowboy mit einer Winchester über die Prärie zu reiten...
Das Spiel beginnt witzig und man baut sich in wenig zeit ein Haus. Man fängt sich Pferde und kauft einen Ort hinzu. Sehr nette Ideen insgesamt in schöner Atmosphäre.
ABER: Es gibt keinerlei gründe MIT anderen Spielern zu spielen. Man kann alles selbst ohne aufwand.
Man muss sich nichts erarbeiten, Rohstoffe sind (zu)leicht verfügbar. Was man selten findet - Schwefel z.b. für Patronen kann man als fertige Munition billig kaufen.
Essen verdirbt auch mit Eis schnell- aber 100 Eis schmelzen innerhalb von 20 Stunden
Das Inventar fasst 1000 Holz einheiten- Warum kann ich einen tollen Sattel machen, wenn ich doch alles tragen kann?

Fazit: Das spiel macht Spaß! Ist aber viel zu leicht und hat keinerlei wiederspielwert. Ich hab nun 15 Spielstunden, hab mein Haus fertig. Die Werkbänke sind gebaut und ich hab große teile der (sehr leeren) Karte gesehen. Nun langweile ich mich. Schade. Hier ist noch VIEL Platz für Ideen. Gefällt mir sogar sehr gut!
Nur leider bin ich während ich diese Art von Spiel spiele gerne auch mal auf dem zweiten Monitor unterwegs und da passiert es leider permanent dass das Spiel abkackt. Meist sogar so, dass ich Steam beenden muss bevor ich das Spiel erneut starten kann. Auf Dauer irgendwie frustrierend...
Das ist allerdings der einzig wirkliche Kritikpunkt den ich habe.
Kinderkrankheiten sind vorhanden, aber und das möchte ich betonen DAS SPIEL LÄUFT SOLANGE ICH NICHT AUF DEN DESKTOP ODER IN DEN BROWSER SWITCHE MEIST FLÜSSIG UND ABSOLUT STABIL!
Leider ist es recht ruhig im Spiel, aber ich denke wer Survivalgames mag, der wird sich hierfür auch begeistern können.
Zum Preis...bisher hab ich 22Std gespielt, sprich weniger als 1€ pro Stunde bei aktuell um die 17€,,,ist es mir jedenfalls definitiv wert. Langzeitmotivation aber wohl eher nur wenn auch weiter am Spiel gearbeitet wird.
Ich rate jedenfalls zum Kauf!

Outlaws of the Old West!
Ein Spiel, noch im Early Access und somit noch nicht fertig. Es hat Potenzial, zumindestens was den Single Player Modus betrifft. Mit den Offiziellen EU PVE Servern habe ich jedoch nur schlechte Erfahrungen gesammelt. Die Server sind urplötzlich für einige Stunden oder gar Tage offline und wenn sie wieder kommen ist nicht nur der erstellte Charakter, sondern auch die Base und alles was man bisher gecraftet oder gekauft hat weg. Es wäre als wenn die Server gewiped werden - das noch ohne Ankündigung oder Entschuldigungen! Für mich ist dies selbst im EA einfach nicht tragbar. Es ruiniert das Spiel und ist somit online mit Freuden einfach nicht auf längere Zeit spielbar! Würden diese Instabilitäten und Probleme für die fertige Version des Spiels behoben werden, wäre es durchaus eine Empfehlung wert. So aber, ist es ein klarer Daumen nach unten für mich.

If you own windows 11 it will just crash your Computer. So it's now worth buying.

If you own windows 10 it's should be alright, but it looks like the development is not in play anymore, if this is case steam really needs to pull this game from the steam store.

My opinion is don't waste your money on this, its a shame because i quite like the concept of this game.

Id give it a 7/10 and bare in mind its unfinished

This was good when I first started it, a bit annoying when they kept wiping the servers and you had to start from scratch, but I could understand it for a game in development. What I don't understand is how a game which is now dead can still be bought, and is (at time of writing) on sale so people may end up buying a game which no longer playable. Steam should shut the game down until / unless development restarts.

Should be free... Hunting doesn't work. I shoot a horse or other big creature it runs to fast to get another shot. I punched a wolf once it ran away then the second wolf fight I shot it 3 times up close and nothing, then it finally ran away. There's no small animals like rabbits. I can't make my door until I get hide. There's very few creatures to start with. The help thing is no help. This is not a good game!

liked this game quite a bit, very different from most games and quite enjoyable.......been over a year and havent heard anything from the devs

will change to a positive review if updates continue, but at this time, kinda feels like they abandoned the game

The game is now abandoned. It's still a great game to play for awhile, If you get it while it's on sale, I believe you will have more than enough fun to make it worth the purchase. You just have to realise that it is what it is and isn't going to have more development and hasn't had development since October 2020.

But I still definitely recommend the game, it's tons of fun creating your own towns, farms, etc. This game can also be played in PVE, PVP, or both! So no matter if you prefer playing on or the other you can have that experience, just please keep in mind that PVP does tend to have a lot of hackers. There's tons of old west weapons you can experiment with and the map is huge including a snow biome, desert biome, forests and open fields so there's tuns of exploration to keep you busy. With the map being huge you can tame wild horses which are found all over the place or donkeys if you're lucky enough to find one (Donkeys are only found in the deserts). There's a bunch of npcs that you can attack like bandits and you can even have your own npcs for your towns!

This game is a lot of fun. A sandbox not set in Zombie ridden post apocalypse is a welcome change. I love the wild western setting. So underused which is a shame. Crafting is fun and construction is pretty decent. The Map is pretty big too. Easy to host a multiplayer server and we had a lot of fun.

Now the negative review is simply because the game is abandoned. I wish Steam had a middle ground rating but here we are.

This game has so much potential. But its unfinished and for that reason you should understand that if you decide to buy. I really wish someone would pick this up as it could be a really popular game.

If the Devs are reading this then they should consider working on it again.

The YES Recommendation is a MAYBE.

Maybe if the game is on sale for 5 dollars.
Maybe if you like the concept of ARK meets the wild west.
Maybe if you just want to see how it might work...
because this is not a finished game... nor will it ever be finished.

It is abandoned by the devs/producer... There's 116 servers sharing 10 players at any given time..
It is a wonderful concept... but at the same time, I'm truly saddened that it's not going anywhere...

Please, someone buy this game and finish it!

Because it has so much wasted potential...

it is fun and it is fun to build on, Gaffics are ok , This is a early access game so there is some glitches in it . Our server is a PVE and we will band player who break the rules , No Shooting other players or Peoples properties that they are building. There is Bandets in the Game to hunt down and anamials. Around the town we have shariffs so please do not shoot them either or they will shoot back . Have fun and Have respect for others .

Been playing this game on and off since it came out in EA. Yes, it is abandoned by the devs, yes it has some quirky little bugs/ glitches. YES it is still very much playable & my friends & I STILL enjoy having a game on it.
Although it is not a finished, polished game, this is STILL worth the money. Hell, there are top titles out there that you pay an arm and a leg for that have glitches and bugs in them!
I run my own server for this game & have quite a few active players.

Don't buy this, development has ceased.

If you want to play it with some friends it might be alright to buy, but lacks depth and end game content, would only be a viable game in a mass rp scene or large scale pvp server. Had lots of potential early days, hopefully another developer can pick up where the previous ones left off some day

First game. Made a character. Single player. Okay, let's see what a crafting/survival game in the old West has to offer. I spot a player. Wait, this is single player right? TNT bandit spawned in my spawn zone complete with gun and gear. Me, my two fists and britches and it's turning night. BANG! I'm dead. Okay, so this game has bots. Just something to get used to. Second life. I'm me, right after my own death and can see my corpse BUT it's still turning night. I start the long hike towards my corpse. Perhaps I can eat myself for sustenance? Walk up a rock and then jump off it onto rocks below. The only way to get down this mountain I'm on. I get stuck in a looped falling animation because the rock beneath me has no solid floor for my character to land on and an ill defined shape. My character can't move due to the odd shapes of the surrounding rocks and is stuck vibrating with a horrid noise mid fall until he starves to death. I delete the character. Got this in a sale for under £3 and I still think I'll be asking for that back.

Dead game, it seems. If you walk away from your house the building disappears. Most of the bandits are illusions; they cannot be killed and don't seem to see you. There are animals all over left over from people that have long since left the server. These block building and cannot be removed on pve in any way. It's sad. I did like the game when it first came out.

This is a misunderstood masterpiece. It is a work of art... well, sort of. Maybe like trash art. It's not so much the dumpster fire itself, but the image of the dumpster fire, complete with setting, ambiance and proper lighting. Never mind, I'm lying. This is what I wish for this game. But don't get me wrong, there is something here. A diamond in the rough, if you will. If only someone could come along and make another game like this, (only working better) then truly a turd could be polished. Bottom line, devs / producers / gam-ma-ma.... something took this game off the table and it is in limbo or abandoned or something else likewise. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. (very sad, had much fun)

its ARK in the wild west... privet RP server is the way to go, as i hear it the devs stoped work on it, its a great game to play with friends tho the replay value is lac unless you have RP exp ;)

Virtual basement was doing a good job developing the game, but they were hindered by a greedy publisher, wandering wizard, who pulled the plug on development, and abandoned the game. It's a shame it's still being sold as its a dead end after you purchase, with no support. I would not recommend wasting you're money on this dead game, or supporting anything wandering wizard publishes. Poor track record.

Wow...Really not sure where to start great game really it is for what it is. Realistically RDR2 killed this game but hey Big Money vs Little Money. Game had great potential however failed to capitalize on end game content for the normal sandboxers out there. From one RPer to another this had high hopes in the community it really did. Wondering Wizard dropped the ball when they wouldn't release the game for community workshops to allow mods. after along 517hrs + i would say i have definitely had my fair share of this game i have seen villages become inspiring towns and states grow and fall i have been around since the beginning and still find myself coming back to this gem. however if you are looking for a western sandbox unless Wondering Wizard gets back focused it would be a hard pass on this for me now. hope this helps if you are really considering this game wait till a sale and get it for 4.99 or what not.

Do not buy this game, it is abandoned. Last i did play a official server i played on was completely controlled by 1 hacker, all he did was play every single day all day long and offline every single person in the server. Game is dead and has been for a very long time, if i could go back i would of stopped myself from spending as much time that i did into the game.

I bought this game a while back, but neither played nor refunded it. Lately, I have been craving an open world crafting sandbox game, and remembered that this was in my library.

I have seen all of the negative reviews, and decided to see the problems for myself.

A pro of this game is that you have a really big open world, plenty of space to build. I've played for a few hours and have only uncovered 6 squares of the map. Of course, this may be because the servers are empty. Playing multiplayer right now is like playing single player.

However, lack of players isn't what makes this game feel so empty. It's lack of meaningful content. There are no NPCs in this game except bandits and wandering traders, and those are far and few between. The game needs some NPC towns, AI interactions to make you feel like there is a reason to be playing the game other than grinding materials to craft and build. You have a morality bar, but what's it for? It's meaningless.

Bugs - the biggest bug I came across is with animals not moving. In the beginning, this was useful because it allowed me to get rawhide easily. Eventually though, it made the game really boring. Nothing moves - there is no challenge.

The other irritant in this game was movement control. I don't know if it's a bug or a feature. Whenever you try to move, movement is like sludge, and then it eventually speeds up. It slows the game down, and makes precision control impossible.

Despite all this, I did have fun though. I enjoyed figuring out how to do things, craft, wrangle horses, etc. without a tutorial. That might not be anyone else's idea of fun though.

I really wanted to be able to recommend this game, but I can't in its current state.

Don't waste your money on this abandoned game. This started out so good. Lots of great models and assets. Great crafting system. Excellent horse riding. So much potential.

Typical pump and dump EA tactic on this one. Hype it up. Gradually release attractive new features to keep the hype going. Collect sweet sales. Then dump it.

Latest updates include wiping servers. No significant bug fixes or features.

Why are servers empty? Because there is nothing new to be done and the existing stuff is not finished. Multiplayer bugs are abundant.

Snail games seems to follow this tactic in their other abandoned titles as well. If only they realize the massive success of titles like 7 days to die. Empyrion and countless other indie titles is continual improvement that leads to positive community support and viral sales. Work a little harder and you will be rich and people will adore your work.

Don't buy this game in the current state unless there are some major updates, or bug fixes. Snail games lives up to their name. Slow and Slimy. Sprinkle some salt on this developer and support other developers who actually care about their clients.

despite being an early access game in VERY early access (alpha stage), and also despite the fact that there is a legal case keeping (so far) this game from being completed, I'd say that this is truly a wonderful and fun game. if you like survival, and the old west, and you don't mind early access, then this game may be just right for you!

This one had great potential and I enjoyed the 416 hours of play in hopes of it improving and moving along. I am starting to think the game was abandoned since there has not be any activity since October of 2020. I cannot suggest the game without knowing if it will be finished which appears to be the case. If something changes I will update and change my view.

So I just played this again after a few years and nothing much has been done to the game since it's release.
Stuff are still buggy, bandits are moving hella weird. Stuff floating in the air. And there are no proper endgame content, most of the stuff you need to do is obtainable on one of the many npc's. Servers are full of old players livestock and can't be removed until wipe. Bandit camps still spawn sideways onto cliffs.

Conclusion: The game has been out for a few years now. and the devs seems to not care at all.
yes its early access but it might never become a full game.

Had a lot of potential to be a great Old West sandbox game but development stopped and the game is unfinished. It is playable but you will run into bugs and quickly get bored from lack of content unless there are friends to play with.

This game had so much potential, but a dispute between the devs and the publishers means this game will never see another update. Initially it was a ton of fun and the devs seemed to actually care about the game and the players. Step aside 'Red Dead Online', they told us, there's a new wild-west sandbox in town!

“With ‘Outlaws of the Old West’ our goal is to give gamers the ultimate Western experience,” said Tim Hesse, executive producer at Wandering Wizard. “We can’t wait to gather feedback directly from our players so we can deliver a game that’s truly catered to the community.”

But the devs have said they won't put another dime into it now, so all that community feedback essentially fell on deaf ears. So sad to see a game like this get mired in a money dispute, but I guess that's the world we live in. I understand that people need to get paid, but like you, I work hard for my money (which I gave to this dev selling an Early Access game).

I'd recommend avoiding this game and any future games from this dev, Virtual Basement, and this publisher, Chinese Snail Games under label Wandering Wizard, until they are fully released.

Good open world genre but that is were it stops. The map is nice but there is nothing to do. Interaction with very predicable bandits is the only interaction. i bought this game a long time ago it said it was multiplayer (they have changer that to mmo now) too late for me.
so i tried it then i also bought for 2 other people that way we could all play then i found out u have to pay a monthly server fee. i have found no good servers that work easy and well enough. biggest waste ever cause i really liked the game. never got to enjoy it though ...sad.

With that out of the way. I would so much love to recommend this game. It has so many fantastic ideas and is genuinely pretty damn fun. But it unfortunately has major issues at this current time, which is the biggest issue since the devs can't actually push out all of the features, fixes and optimisations they wished for. The publisher has basically decided to take a game with an incredibly high amount of potential and kill it before it even had a chance to flourish.

Because of all of that I honestly can't recommend this game at all because I wouldn't recommend anyone support the publisher if they're going to do this, and that's a damn shame.

I love the game,Love the concept and i really hope they get to put their differences aside and finish the game.Still plenty of content and exploration to do and there is still a decent amount of PVP and PVE players.

So lets see. To start I want to say that this game is just the most fun i've had in a long time. If you love open world survival/build and crafting, some good PVP and PVE fun with some roaming A.I . Outlaws of the Old West has put all these things into one giant fun filled amazing game!

Yes this game is still in early access, yes you will encounter some glitches along the way. Let me just say there is nothing game breaking in this and the Dev's have been working and grinding to bring us something very special.

I Strongly recommend this game to everyone that wants to explorer, build huge amazing towns! and craft soooooo many things. Probably the biggest crafting list in a game i've ever played. Please help grow this game as I see it being really big.

I love this game. It's a great simulator. You're living the life. You're mining, farming, ranching, building towns, getting into gun battles. Some of my biggest fun was constructing buildings. I have a small town - Wolvesgrove - because it's built close to wolf spawn points - and a ranch, with a spirit making building, a warehouse, and a manufacturing company.



So far I'm 200+ hours in. Best entertainment $5.00 I've spent.



As I understand it, the game seems to be abandoned by the development company. I've watched quite a few YouTube vids from 'Whispabird' - she being one of the earliest players of this game. After a ton of video even she's leaving it behind, because of its dubious future. Even so, I'm having immense fun. I've only spent $5 on it so far, like I said - I play the single player game. Although if you're inclined, there are still a lot of multiplayer servers you can login to.



Who knows? Nothing is written. Maybe the development team will engage it again. Or maybe, another company will pick it up and continue.



Here are some of the things I like.



-The game is fully immersive for a role-player, like myself. I feel like the character I'm playing. Even though my avatar seems to be a composite of MULTIPLE people (NO one person could have all the skills needed to scratch from nothing and build everything from your utensils and tools to your ranch, your home, your town). I still feel as though I'm the cowboy character I'm playing - especially when I'm out on the range, hunting or gathering resources.



-I like the endless possibilities of what I could do or build. My wife calls it having a paint brush, to paint your own Western world. I wish there were even more options - like a bathtub. Or church pews. But what's available can unleash a lot of creativity.


Things I don't like -



You start the game in your skivvies, buried in an above-ground coffin. The roleplayer in me wishes there was a story to go with that.



Also roleplay-wise, you choose a path for your avatar. On the setup screen, you choose from a huge list of classic Old West careers. My guy is an old west judge, like Roy Bean. It's good for my head canon - but that's about it. In game it's totally meaningless. You're the survivor that has to build up his life from nothing, no matter what role you choose.



I'm not a big fan of the multiplayer mode. It's expensive to host a server, and I believe it's costly to join one as well in some cases. I wish there was a co-op that I could play with my wife with. She's as much into RP as me. In fact she has more hours into the game than me.



Being still early-access (or perhaps, ONLY access) - there are many bugs to contend with. The bandits and thieves that attack you (for no reason apparently - they just open fire. No parlay - they just show up and kill) - these mobs often get stuck in your constructions. Other things that have happened is that I've died, and disappeared from the main world into some nether region I couldn't escape. My wife actually had to research how to get me out of there with the TELEPORT command at the command line.



Other than that I really like this game, and hope it makes a come-back in some form, someday soon. If so, it'll be a 'shut up and take my money' moment for me.

This game looks very promising and it has so much potential, but the state that it is in right now is unplayable. There is so little to do in this game and the game is flooded with various bugs and glitches. The game world is so empty and boring. The occupation thing doesn't do anything. At least we could have gotten some towns that could naturally generate and npc's that you could interact with, but there is nothing to do. I got this game for my birthday and i feel like a dumbass for buying it. The potential is there but the developers need to expand on it...

Great Potential for sure! However, there are sooo many things left undone, which is ok as it is an early access game. The part that concerns me most isn't the gameplay, as that can be tweaked and changed later. It is that updates are coming few and far between and I dont see much beyond bug fixes. I f eel that if they were going to really do this game right they would spent the time, something else has the devs attention- to bad also this game has lots of real future opportunity...

Hopefully they get re-invigorated and work on this game, a shame not too.

this is an amazing game if you look at what the developers created. yes, the single player lacks but only if you need a guide to play games. what I found was a really well done old west survival-builder. build your own towns connected with a functioning rail road. if you like building and you have been craving an old west theme then this is a really nice way to consume spare time. the AI enemy is a little stiff but nothing game breaking. if you have a good system the graphics are very good. I have 17 hours in the game at the time of this review and I kept my eye on this game for a while and watched a few streamers play it before I purchased the game. I am happy I purchased the game and look forward to building an old west world.

As a new player, this game sucks, there are not enough resources in the game, i am an avid survival gamer, but dying 5 times in the first hour and making your body 56 miles away from where you died, after crafting all your tools, and gear, only to loose it for a coyote killing you, with two hits, is very unfair for a new player.

Quick story: I am a huge sandbox/survival fan, stumbled on this game last summer (2019) and thought it looked great! At that time, however, I was running a 5 year old ASUS gaming laptop and it could hardly even load this game, let alone play it. I was pretty bummed, because the potential of this game looked great, and I am a pretty regular early access gamer.

Fast forward to summer of 2020 and I finally built a new gaming rig; 2070S and everything. Of course, one of the first things I had to do was boot this up and see how it looked all glittered out. Graphically, it looks incredible. Actual game-wise: sadly, it looks dead in dev.

Such a shame. A lot of good bones here, but from recent reviews and a quick google search, it looks to be doomed.

Fun for the first 10 hours basically doing the normal sandbox/survival figure-it-out sessions, but then its really nothing more than a grind-chores sim.

I first would of said yes id recommend this game considering ive been playing rust for a long time put about 13k hours into it then quit cold turkey when i tried outlaws.. But now this game outlaws has turned into crap, and im very disapointed in the devs. You catn contact anyone and all servers keep crashing every 5mins into a server. after me and entire clan place a base down.

So many bugs, and nothing has been fixed for several months... I've seen several random users made complaints on forum threads. Whatever the devs are doing with their other game there working on well they need to fix this and get their head out of there asses. Seriously, get $19.99 off the market for steam and drop the price again.. Whats the point to play a broken game, and dead game yet pay $19.99 for it?? Let me know your thoughts on the bottom section guys.. How can we contact the devs to this game if there discord is broken on the main menu screen?? How does even a discord server break? lol

What can I say? I have NEVER played a game this buggy. No instructions, all wild life either does the 'boot-scoot-boogie' across the screen or just stands there, and they wipe on a whim. Just please, please, before you buy, just take a look at their discussion boards. This is a dead game.

Lots of bugs. I know this is an early access game.
Unfortunately it doesn't feel right, too few updates, and usually when there is an update, little is fixed or added. Check the update log and read the reviews carefully before purchasing this product. Single players is okay, but multiplayer is far from good. For now this game is not worth buying outside of a sale.

I'm really sorry to give a negative advice, because this game can be so beautiful. Hopefully in the future I can change my review to a positive one.

I have no idea how this horrible game gets any thumbs up. It is just not fun to play. the enemy move SO FREAKING FAST that you cant hit them. Theyre bullet sponges. the AI dont arent even aware of each other. bears just walking through camps not attacking anyone. but once they all see me they come charging at me. if you have a melee weapon then good luck. they just back pedal away as you attempt to swing, when it allows you to do so...i couldn't bring myself to play a full hour. I knew instantly what this is going to be like. not worth 7 bucks

JUST WAIT! This game has so much potential. I see how beautiful it can be, but it's just not ready. If you like reporting endless bugs and crashes, this game is for you. Otherwise, if you are like me and you rather be playing the game, than being a game tester, HARD PASS. Damn shame though! I was SO excited for the train stuff. This looks like it was going to be better than RDR2! Guess, I'll check back in another 6 months to a year. Games been out for over a year. You would think by now, some of the easy fixes would have been addressed.

If the Devs would finish this game for single player i.e. all of the damn bugs then it would be a nice game. But since i finally made enough money and made enough ammo and guns (the hard part) and then i get killed by a bear I follow the sign to my body (no big deal right?) But it leads me to the edge of the map and it shows my body is beyond the map that I can not get to. Since gun powder is hard to come by and all of my guns and ammo are off the map im kinda pissed right now of course. Not sure IF i will come back to this game. DEVS pull your head out of your asses and finish the game BEFORE you release it and take my money! I will keep my eye on what these guys develop so i dont waste any more money on them. (yes i bought this game like a year after it was made so.)

reminds me a lot of Rust but with a lot of better features. I can not wait for all the choices to be available. I play 7 days to die, but this game has taken the top slot on My game list. keep up the good work and to other players...... come and jump back in time and live the old west...

It seems you now need to install Battleye if you want to play this game. Personally, I only ever play singleplayer and have no interest in online gaming. There needs to be the choice of tickboxes ie ticking singleplayer does not install Battleye and does not allow you to play online whereas ticking multi/online installs Battleye and allows you online. How hard can this be? I have never trusted Battleye and will not allow it on my system so I guess I'll never be playing this game again unless the developers take note og this post. I knoe Battleye can be removed but I am neither savvy enough or confident enough to do so. Thanks a lot developers.

This game is just broken. Random stuff happens 5 minutes into the game, like not being able to interact with anything in your base, getting stuck on a simple set of stairs, weapons refusing to swap unless you mash the button 5 times. I completely understand EA, I've played many EA games. None were this broken a year+ in. The patches they put out are laughably small and they are not adding content. There are many other open world survival crafting games out there that are way better than this.

The worst company to make games. Totally abandoned, pushing meaningless updates, adding intrusive third party programs that gather all your pc and personal data.

Dont waste time with this title, dont waste money with this company.

Has a ton of potential! A little buggy atm, but still having a great time...i just had a shoot out in the gun store. Killed the bandits held up in there. I was down to half health, made it out alive. Little did i know there was a black bear at the door wanting in on the fun...got to love it!

This game is very fun. Yes, it is early access and has some work in front of it. However, the game is wonderfully playable, the mechanics are good, and you don't have to grind to death for every little thing.

You start out in the Wild West (as any great Outlaw does), in your underwear, determined to survive. You can build a little shack, an entire town, or your own temple to cowgirls and boys everywhere! You are able to create crafting stations, tools, weapons, and other basics you see in a survival game such as Conan, Rust, Ark, or Citadel. These give you the chance to really see you carve your own pathway in the game. The chat include area and public for those extroverts out there!

I am excited to see where this game goes. Hopefully the game develops a way to repair tools, faster reloading on guns (I was chasing a bull around for five minutes while trying to reload, which didn't feel very outlawish in that moment), and continue to work on this world. Definitely worth it if you're looking for something to fill the quarantine hours!

The game is fun to start out, as its new to you. Eventually you realize that there is no fun outcome to it. You roam around, gather things, and then theres no one in any of the servers to play against or with. So the game gets ridiculously boring. Build and farm, with no reason, the game is choppy and hardly works. Absolutely no point to this game what so ever. id rather chew cardboard. So far to travel all the time, its an endless cycle of bordom. I rgeret purchasing tyhis game, Total shite

I've owned this game for some time. I will play for a bit, shelf it and come back to it to see if any progress has been made. The game would be really fun if it weren't so buggy, and had some content. Once you build your base, that's it. There isn't anything to do.

I get that it's EA, but I am not seeing bugs get squashed in a reasonable amount of time. I would be relatively surprised if they produced anything close to a finished product.

Its a good game, however there is no anti-cheat program. People will glitch, cheat, dupe items and on PVP servers, it makes the game unplayable. You simply cannot compete with cheaters throwing 50 pieces of dynamite at you with auto-aim. Unfortunately the devs are doing nothing about it. DO not throw your money away, trust me.

So the game is Really fun. Dead body's should De_Spawn after you recover them. Its a pain haveing 6 on the map. Also so of the creatures are obeast. I hate spawning into a server and getting killed becouse i just started a game and im killed by bandits with guns! really. I dont even have Stone!. Rendering is still really bad. Over all still 5 Stars. You guys are on the path to a really Great Game!
