Gameplay
Overall, I believe Multiversus is a fun game at it's core, but player beware I fear Warner Brothers has gotten a bit greedy again.
From a gameplay perspective, I think it plays very nice and can be a fun game. It seems to take a bit longer to get coins in this version then the alpha but it still seems manageable to unlock every character so far.
Monetization
My concerns are with the monetization, luckily it seems you can enjoy the entire game without spending a penny and that is a positive.
However, like Back 4 Blood, they have opted for selling 3 editions of the game for extra content. Unlike Back 4 Blood, these appear to be time limited so I believe they are trying to induce FOMO with this.
Going further into pricing, The first battle pass seems to be $3 for 15 tiers on the premium track. Along with it if you complete these 15 tiers, the most valuable items appear to be 2 variant skins, 3 taunts, and 2 vfx on the premium track. When comparing this to other battle passes, i personally feel this pass is overpriced, especially considering how this is a 2.5d game.
One more point of interest to bring to attention as an example is Shaggy's Shirt Rip emote, a cool little emote where he rips off his shirt and was fun to use in the alpha as it was unlocked by default. They value this emote as $5. I think that's a bit much for one emote but I guess some can argue otherwise.
tl;dr
The game is fun and I have fun playing it. The one takeaway is be careful as it seems Warner Bros. is getting greedy again.
I'll probably edit this review as I learn more about the game but I have disdain towards monetization like this so I unfortunately I may not enjoy this game in the long run. As this is all purely cosmetic and won't affect gameplay, I think my review can stay positive.
