Some things that irritates me is when you invest in a village you cannot see the buildings that where supposed to be build in the village. You can only see in ´´manage this village´´ what improvements that have been done.
I would like to see the buildings that you invested in, see when they are build and of course see the finished outcome of it.
It would be awesome if you could do more investments in the villages to build a pallisade wall around the village and have some archers and militias or more well trained units that can protect the village from bandit attacks.
Also would it be awesome if you could annex a town from another faction instead of that villages are tied to a city or castle.
Another imrovement would to be able to put up more then only ladder per wall and use only one siegetower against castles. It makes it super hard to take a city like the city of Tihr or well... any city really, when you only can put up one ladder per wall and you cannot spend more time to put up more ladder or even blow a hole in the walls so your troops can rush in. There should be differenct tactics to besiege a settlement, some that might also help the enemies to take the city back if you don´t manage to build the wall up again.
I don´t own Warbands yet but I will buy it eventually. I hope the DLC gives great inprovements to battle mecanics, expecially on besieging castles and expecially cities.
Overall the game is good but I see potencial and improvements needed to be made. Maybe the DLC Warbands solve some of the named problems? I certainly hope so or that Paradox Interactive and their partners put some extra energy to make this game even better.

-Better to just get M&B Warband, as it has more features than in this game.
-Campaign is great.
-RPG mechanics are solid.
-Soundtrack is decent.
-Factions are very good in this game.
-Combat mechanics feel decent.

So why the thumbs down, you may ask? Simply because there is no real point in buying this version of the game anymore. It has been entirely superseded by its, so-called, stand-alone expansion Warband. That expansion is in fact the same game, just with more, much more. Years ago, it could make sense to buy this version for some good mods that hadn't made the transition to Warband yet, but I don't think that is the case anymore. Only buy this game, if you are just curious to see how it all started.

But if you have the money/are willing to pay a bit more in contrast to this game, then get Warband. It’s essentially the same game with some improvements graphically and has WAY MORE mods on it… and let’s be honest here, that’s the main reason this and Warband are still as popular as they are today.
Still, this game is worth getting, some niche mods for it still, or simply to “have them all” essentially.

This piece is essentially Mount & Blade pt. 0 - meaning it is Warband minus one faction, multiplayer and compatibility with the awesome Viking Conquest DLC.
9/10

As for this game, it is great. Combat is dynamic though ranged combat is useless until you hit a certain point with skills and weapon proficiencies. When you get a large enough army or advanced units, you can take siege castles and cities, making them part of your own kingdom or join one of the many factions and conquer for them.
To put it simply, it's a medieval bandit simulator, you just decide whether or not you are a menace or an elected lord.
Beyond combat though, the game falls short, with quests that don't have great instructions, a troop management system that seems janky, and a character creator that honestly sucks unless you try to make a stereotypical viking or hobo.
So as I said as at the start, unless you can't play Warband for some reason, I'd get that instead. They are mostly the same game but with a few issues fixed, and more non-combat activities.

This isn't a bad game, it's just not worth it when M&B Warband exists.

Can't belive that I got acquainted with this game only few years ago. Where was I all this time... Just look at my playtime. This is just one playthrough as Vaegirs... I could play even more, but I remembered that there is also Warband, which is similar to the original, but better and offers even more stuff to do.

Ah. You can't afford it.
Well this game still has hundreds of hours of gameplay, lucky for you I guess. The graphics hardly hold up to today's standards but hell, Bannerlords' don't either. Missing a lot of features that make Warband so iconic but even so there are still plenty of quests, tournaments and things to do. I still play this game myself, for me it's the simplicity that makes this game great, the combat is more straightforward, getting money is just Horse Archers n bitches and quests have a more direct approach. Map painting, raiding and taking Wercheg after 15 minutes is still so fun and re-playable, mods like Star Wars conquest are still available so I promise if you have 5 hours on this game, you can play 500 more. Who needs Bannerlord anyway?

Nearly a decade ago, my friend let me know of a sale going on for a game I was going to get him. Because of the sale I had the spare money to purchase a copy for myself. From the moment I saw that campaign map I was taken aback, stunned really, at the sudden freedom this game offered. The insane amount of choices taught me that some games won't hold my hand and I have to be more aware of my choices. So many years later, here I am playing Bannerlord, which I didn't think would exist in any of our lifetimes, and it's the same experience just better. Please, if you aren't an experienced vet of M&B, look into this more than you want to. I promise you'll not be let down.

Absolutely Legendary // Recommended for anyone who's missed out thus far
+ Large playable environment
+ Heavily mod-friendly
+ A true & pure open-world medieval experience; as others have pointed out, one can do almost anything: besiege towns, raise armies, conquer the map, or even become a legendary merchant & not fight at all
+ Combat is surprisingly advanced & purely skill-based; simple to learn & difficult to master
+ Tons of NPC dialogue options
+ Fairly competent writing overall
+ Commanding troops is simply implemented but very well done & intuitive
+ simple, effective inventory & progression systems
+ Decent quality audio, particularly for the time of release
+ Potential for very large personal armies & huge battles
- Visuals are severely antiquated & have aged very poorly
