1: the graphics (pc player) are decent, despite texture pop-in that feels like ps1 games all over again
2: realistic racetracks, right down to the kerbs.
3: realistic performance. marquez wins most races tho.
4: potato pc can run this one. my old pc could run this.
5: massive amount of graphics settings.
what is NOT GOOD
1: lack of classic bikes
2: very basic career mode
3: ai are horrendous, often rubberband like mad
4: glitches that are easily exploitable.
5: rain weather looks way too blurry
6: it's a reskin of 2017 but with improved graphics
IS THIS GAME WORTH YOUR WALLET
motogp fans, yes. but it doesnt appeal to newcomers.
RATING
0-49: fail

Could have been so much more
In its current state I can't recommend this game. Although I have as of this review had only a brief slice of what is on offer (79 mins) I have played a lot of milestones games in the past and have a pretty good sense of what to look for.
To summarise, the game needs improvement and is a step back from previous titles (Ride 2) which itself had issues that should have been fixed or built upon. This game has similar issues which seem to be worse. I will concede that this is a new game from the ground up (new engine) and Milestone could fix these issues later with patches. But given their track record of push it out the door and move on to something else, I am sceptical of any major changes being pushed through in patches.
Firstly the controller options: Can't re-bind the right thumb stick, No sensitivity options or dead zones.
- The right thumb stick by default is bound as a pseudo “free look”. The only change you can make to this is to swap out the left stick steering input, (does anyone even use a camera “free look” on a stick and does anyone want to use the right stick as a steering input?).
- Unable to bind the rear brake to an analogue control (always used the right stick as a rear brake in ride 2, now this is not an option) so you are stuck with an all or nothing rear brake making it useless.
- No controller default options. Want to use the right stick as accelerator/break combo, tough luck. Its triggers or digital input for you.
- No sensitivity options at all. (would it really kill you to give us control over sensitivity curves, dead-zones etc. Like every single other game out there)
Riding Physics: Braking simulation poor, Hidden rider aids (even in pro settings), makes for a pretty non engaging ride.
- With pro physics, all aids off, the brakes have no feel. You can go full on the front brakes and it feels like you are coming to a gentle stop, no front wheel lock, no slip. Feels less like having full race brake setups which should near enough throw you over the front of the bike and more like having the cheapest pads in Tokiko six pots which have not been bled properly. Very spongy.
- Back brake is near enough useless bound to a button. (on/off). Previous games back brake could be bound to the right stick, so you had modulation.
- Anti Wheelie – Its there, even with everything turned off. Full revs in first gear let out he clutch the front end comes up then goes back down on its own. Hard acceleration coming out of a corner onto a down hill section (T1 road Americas) front end comes up and manages itself. Not once have I had to regulate the power to prevent a power wheelie.
Ok, it looks better in Unreal engine, but it was always going to. And there have been improvements in various areas in the game. But why does every release from Milestone have to be an imperfect product. Their must be “inspirational” posters around the office with “That will do” as a slogan. It is very frustrating that every game they push out has the potential to be so much more if they just put the effort in! I hope there will be improvements, especially since this is an indication of what Ride 3 has in store for us. But as the game stands just now, I am worried for more of the same for Ride 3.
Please milestone, take a look at the other racing games out there (P-cars, Assetto corsa, i-racing, R-factor) and what they provide in the level of gameplay and options. Then provide us with the best motorbike game you can possibly make!
