However!
I will not pay a monthly subscription for the current state of the game.
Devs, change that to buy to play, assign a small group of devs to keep it working and maybe even slowly growing, and you will attraact attention to both titles, which will encourage players to give Mortal Online frenchise a try, and some% will move from buy-to-play poorer MO1 to fully-fledged subscription-well-deserved MO2.
Don't waste the opportunity and the work you put into developing this title. This title is really good, and yet you currently have 12 concurrent players here. Guess why...

The majority of the negative reviews for the game appear to complain about community toxicity however this game bills itself as a hardcore players wet-dream that you can sink a portion of your life in to. I can say that it definetly feels like the kind of game that, at it's peak would be a fantastic experience. Unfortunately my two hours in the starter zone over two days at different times of the day had me alone in the chat windows. I will update my review over time as I explore the world and see if there are any players left.
I can already see that the crafting system is very in-depth and purposely obscured to the player with the intention that players develop their own understanding of the mechanics behind it. Within 30 minutes I was able to outfit my player character with full leather armour and a wooden shield all made out of pigleather and wood harvested in the starter zone. Again from my brief experience it feels like a crafting players dream come true.
I can only hope that there is a second game coming that polishes the mechanics as well as establishes a larger community for the game as I can see the potential for something fantastic here.

This game will NOT hold your hand. It gives players the freedom to explore their full potential in an open world environment. It is 90% toxic players and 10% PVE care bear situations. The players choose what happens here. That is the beautiful thing about it. We have the means to control the economy on a daily basis and control most of how the game affects the player base.
Guilds rule this world and are in a constant war between the 2 opposing sides.
On one end, you have the ones who want to run wild and free. These are the ones who enjoy the pain of others and when you react to their griefing ways, you fuel the reason for them to continue to mess with you even further.
Hate and revenge are common feelings you will encounter in this game. You will learn to accept and understand ways around the raw lifestyle this game throws you into.
On the other side of the story there are people who defend the defenceless. There are many names for them but these days everyone can state they follow a righteous path but in the shadows relish in the blood shed. Don’t be fooled by cheap words and speeches. Focus on how these people you are with act everyday. What they do and say will give you the truth about their intentions in this game.
You will decide what path you follow because it is mainly one of these. Trust barely exists in this game even within guilds. People follow anyone who cater to their own personal goals.
There are a few who walk a thin line of neutrality. This path is hard and everyday it becomes a challenge. You will need to focus on not pursuing your revenge due to the many losses you will encounter in this game. Acceptance is key and relying on the friends you make will help you forget and move on. Remember, in this game everything is replaceable. Just give yourself time to accept the simple truth that it’s a game and nothing more. Many people on this path try to focus on not being pulled into the conflicts, etc in this world. Many fail though. Reputation is hard to establish and easy to ruin. Trust is something many do not have but only a handful of people have and understand how hard it is to keep it in a game like this. With trust and respect equals a path where playing the game becomes a nice reality. You are able to enjoy the simple things and trade freely with everyone in this game. You simply need to not be weak and feed into the hate of this world.
I love this game and will always try my best to help anyone who needs it. The guild i am in is UpInSmoke aka High

Here's what to expect in terms of MMO's. I've got a TON of MMO time, so I do have a strong idea of the general mechanics.
Combat: Real time. Magic needs reagents and casting time considered, Melee is what you think it would be in an MMO. It's never going to be perfect, or 100 percent smooth, but they made a working model for FP combat pretty much in the early days of MMO. They're the ones who do it, and do it as right as it can be done for now.
Crafting: The most in depth, and interesting crafting system I've ever seen.
Guilds/Companies/Crews: Necessary beyond early game. This is not a solo venture unless you have NO time obligations.
Exploration: Phenominal. I wouldn't be surprised if people did not discover all the secrets of the first iteration of the world.
Everything else: This game uses a lot of systems not used in other games. I can't make you play this game, but if you want an MMO that's really hard, but really rewarding, you've found it.

After playing this game quite a bit and giving it a fair chance, I feel finally ready to review.
Mortal Online is a first person, full loot, fantasy based, MMO RPG. It is like no other game.
It is truly a diamond in the rough, but.. extremely in the rough, so rough it's not shining. It's extremely disheartening because there is so much potential here, but for numerous reasons, I feel it never reached it.
+Wonderful music, very beautiful arrangements across Nave.
+A multiplayer reliant world. You feel like you matter as a player. Due to the low player count, people will know who you are and recognize you. You will matter during fights. You will be able to have a ripple effect across Nave, whether by creating a enormous guild, being a successful stealthy thief that will make a name for himself, etc. And that's something special that you don't tend to find in most MMO's.
+Amazingly well made and complex systems. Such as crafting, cooking, dyeing, potion making, thieving, scribing, amongst many others. You will get lost in the amount of depth these systems hidden behind closed curtains will offer.
+Really fun pvp with great mechanics, thanks to its directional real time combat.
+Interesting PVE monsters with creative designs.
+First person.
+The sheer *potential* this game has.
But sadly..
-The most opaque, dishonest development team I've had the displeasure to find in a game. Their lack of transparency in many areas (security breach failure, rude moderators and development team members that have a hard time acting professional.. among many other factors) really is detrimental to the game and community. They're really trying, but it's just not good enough.
-The worst community I have *ever* seen in a game. Here you will find a disproportionate amount of griefers, cheaters, rpkers (random player killing) and generally unkind and rude players. For some (obvious) reason, this game has over the years attracted the worst of the worst. Do not walk into this game expecting an RPG experience. You will scarcely come across someone in the world who's willing to have a chat, roleplay, team up, etc. You will be killed on sight, which I personally find disappointing, as this game truly has the potential to offer a great RPG roleplay experience. Yet you end up with nothing but boring and repetitive PVP. The best moments I've had in the game where with the few other players I've encountered that have played along with a roleplay perspective, which just simply spices up otherwise mundane encounters.
-Riddled with bugs. Most players in Mortal disregard and almost even *forget* bugs. We have come to accept them and not even mind them. This is not okay.
-I personally find the mechanics to be quite clunky.
-Awful graphics. Some love them, I'm not one of those people. For a game where you'll be walking around for hours and hours, the world is empty and bare, a complete void.
-A huge time-sink. If you don't like grinding or waiting hours for materials to process, this isn't the game for you. I have spent countless of hours mining, staring at my screen doing absolutely nothing. Getting around the world is tedious and takes a very long time. Over a 100 one of those hours I've spent in the game, perhaps even more, have been nothing but pressing the autowalk button and sitting back on my chair, travelling from city to city, resource to resource. It would be bearable if the world were a bit pretty or full of life, maybe even spiced with a bit pvp in between, but sadly, it isn't. (The last bit, is due to an extremely low player count) All in all, hours I will never get back. If you don't find pleasure in the act itself of grinding, I would advise you to not play this game.
-Lack of lore. I *love* context. I *love* lore. I *love* immersion. I personally feel the most immersion in games when I feel like the world around me is alive. The NPC's are absolutely terrible. They are nothing but empty shells. Every single guard, bandit, banker, etc, in the world, no matter where they're located in Nave, feel the same. The characters in the world do not feel alive, they do not feel like actual people living their little lives in their respective cities. They feel like basic, boring, NPC's. For some, the amount of lore present might be satisfying, but not for me. This game has always left me wanting more from an RPG perspective.
-Lack of a good, encompassing tutorial. I have over the many years of playing this game, tried to get 7 friends into this game. All of them with the same qualms: Poor visuals, horrible tutorial, poor mechanics, etc.
-Not being able to try every aspect of the game without making multiple characters and even *accounts*. If you're looking into trying out this game, thinking you'll be spending at the most, 13 bucks, you're wrong. I've rarely encountered players that were satisfied with only one account. Which meant almost everyone was spending 26 bucks, sometimes more, on the game every month. With only one character, let alone one account, you will not be able to try out everything Mortal Online has to offer without relying on other players. This is a huge disservice to the game as well as, what might as well be, secret hidden fees.
All in all, I just can't recommend this game. I really regret spending so much time on it. Sadly, there is nothing else like it, despite its shortcomings it remains a genre of its own, a diamond in the rough. So I begrudgingly play it.
I am looking forward to Mortal Online 2.
Hopefully, its sequel fixes the many gripes I have with it. Creating a capable and good tutorial, attracting a new playerbase that hopefully eradicates its previous one, the devs learning from their mistakes, delivering a bug free polished experience, expanding on its lore, creating interesting NPC's across Nave and a much needed improvement on the graphics, etc.
Crossing my fingers!

Later I find out via haveibeenpwned that Mortal had a data breach and never bothered to disclose this with us.
Mortal Online: In June 2018, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Mortal Online suffered a data breach. A file containing 570k email addresses and cracked passwords was subsequently distributed online. A larger more complete file containing 607k email addresses with original unsalted MD5 password hashes along with names, usernames and physical addresses was later provided and the original breach in HIBP was updated accordingly. The data was provided to HIBP by whitehat security researcher and data analyst Adam Davies.
Compromised data: Email addresses, Names, Passwords, Physical addresses, Usernames

It has bugs. A lot. Its not gamebraking.
Awesome crafting, exploration and trading system. What kind of axe will you craft, from what material and for how much will you sell it, it really depends on you.
Fishing, I just love fishing. Dont have to be genius to do that and it brings good money.
I dont know about PvP, never done that.
Never used magic.
Love to go to cave to hunt white rabbit. Or to mine that shiny glimmering ore.
Simple, just having fun. Trading with people. For few years now. Great experince.
Waiting for MO2. Until then, cya in MO :)

BUT the main reason I don't endorse this game is that my personal information was stolen by hackers because of the lack of security in this game coding. My username and password ended up on the dark web because of this game. I only found this out because of the identity service that I use contacted me about it. I had to change my passwords/usernames for a few things. I normally don't use the same one on all accounts, but have specific ones for this type of 3rd party scenario.

It has SUCH potential but falls completely flat on it's own face.
Also, the /rather/ toxic community does not help. (trust me, they're super toxic in their own special autistic meme-y kind of way. on purpose, there's no defending these people, like, hey, oh, well it's just role playing.)

besides the basic microtransactions and requiring a subscription to access a majority of the content i did find it interesting at first, but as I stated it slowly became a bore and lost its appeal. That and adding to the fake of toxic players I wouldn't recommend this game to friends.

The support team is nonexistant, I paid for a month of game time and enjoyed it but when I went to pay for a second month it said it could take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days to complete the transaction IF the payment was successful. It was not and there is no way to cancel the payment, nor is there a way to actually purchase another month. I contacted the support team 3 days ago about it and apparently they do not care about making money because it still isn't resolved.
Overall I give the ideas and originality of the game an 8/10.
The implementation and creation of the ideas get a 3/10.
The staff get a 1/10 and they should be happy they even get that, if they even exist. I haven't been able to contact anyone.
