I have been to a real monster truck event, and everything I saw on the event was very similar to what you can find playing the game.

This game is more for casual players, if you are a casual player, you will really enjoy this one and it is a very fun game, everyone can play it!!!

What a shame. I was hoping this game would be better than Rainbow Studio's Steel Titans Monster Jam games, but this is just poor. The big killer is its physics. This game is a 'simulation' in everything but its physics. The monster trucks slide around like they are driving on ice. The suspension is not bouncy at all and just will be stiff and soft at the same time. The trucks float around like they have reduced gravity. I tried different tuning settings yet nothing could fix the total jankiness of these physics. Its such a shame because it completely ruins the rest of the game which is quite good. Its cool to choose different sponsors, manage team members and customize your monster truck. Yet, the actual gameplay is just so weak. For $40, spend your money somewhere else...

Best Monster truck game out rn. I found the driving to be a little slick but it was a good challenge. Surprisingly enjoyed the sponsor challenges and the range of tuning options for the trucks. Kept things fresh all the way through the campaign.

the driving around is fun and that is about it. me and a friend tried to play multiplayer and we would load up and i get booted back to the main menu saying connections lost...
the driving is about the only plus side as i dont have to use the controls for the back wheels at all if i dont want to(which is a godsend because that setup is just horrible and i get confused on which side controls which set of wheels at times when i was doing the races)
the physics just suck and overall its just not a fun game

Got a Humble Bundle just for this (owned every other game already). No regrets, this is lots of fun. Decent wheel support (got my multiple input setup detected and working) and even has field of view slider (and camera height adjustments). Physics are decent, it's just really nice that the freestyle trick mode isn't all canned animations... much more enjoyable than the recent Monster Jam titles. I think at full price I'd be bit more hesitant; but $25 or less, great value.

If you can get it for very cheap, and you like monster trucks, get it. Otherwise I can't personally recommend it. Career mode and the garage are nice enough, but the physics in this game are terrible. The trucks do not handle anywhere close to the real thing(or at least as close as a video game can reasonably be) they ice skate around like they are on different plane of existence than the track. The way they body roll feels terrible, the steering is terrible and borderline comical. It really ruins the experience for me.

After playing this game it is very poorly optimized as I am running into issues of frame drops and stuttering even with a Ryzen 9 5900x and Nvidia 3090.
Second is the amount of content. It is very limited. There is only 8 tracks to race on. There is a free play/Test mode with unlimited time but you can only use the default test facility so if you wish to change the arena it is simply not possible. This game is very over priced for what it is. Monster Jam Steel Titans a much better game (even with its arcade physics).

I really wanted to love this simulation and this is supposed to be a monster truck simulation, but the physics need a lot of work. The truck doesn't bounce accurately when landing big jumps. It's not satisfying. I think the main reason is that tire deformation physics is not implemented. The tire traction physics is also off. It doesn't feel like the tires are digging into the ground. The suspension doesn't squat realistically when accelerating. Is first gear really that short in monster trucks? Maybe I need to launch with second instead of first gear.

The sounds when landing doesn't sound good either. It has great sound for the engine though. The graphics are nice too. Runs well on my computer too after switching to full-screen mode vs windowed full-screen. The game would stutter in the default windowed full-screen mode.

The engine seems to die out too quickly when doing donuts in second gear. The tires should slip to allow fourth gear donuts after breaking the initial traction of the tires. When braking in a straight line, the tires stop too quickly on dirt. It should lock-up without ABS and slide a bit.

I'm an off-road rally race car driver, not a monster truck driver, but has the opinion of monster truck drivers been taken into consideration? Maybe in the future I will re-buy since it has the potential if they keep releasing big changes in future patches. If the developers improve the physics, I will happily try again after seeing updated gameplay videos showcasing the physics improvements. I'm available to beta-test physics changes and to give input. I have been wanting a game like this for many years and even considered making one myself since I'm a developer.

When you first fire up your engines, Monster Truck Championship from Teyon Studios seems like more fun than a new set of mud flaps. It’s a definite improvement over previous monster trucking games, though it can’t really compete against, arguably, the best of the genre in Monster Truck Madness,

MTC includes over 50 customizable elements, 25 arenas, and three different leagues to compete in. Races tend to include more off-road obstacles, such as water, barrels, and grimy mud, while circuit tracks offer more flat-out racing with customizable laps. The single-player tracks range from the mundane Kilgore Raceway to the chaotic Grand Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Regardless of the location, each course is reasonably long and heavy on variety. In short, even the weariest off-roader will find quite a bit of long-term challenges in this game.

In addition to the newer modes like Destruction and Freestyle, the online features arena style racing in which up to 8 players can compete in thumb blistering action. Measured in minutes instead of laps, the emphasis here is not necessarily to beat the track but to beat your opponents to become king of the mud hill. It’s rowdy, dirty, and fun. In fact, you’ll be repeating many of the courses just to see how much damage you can do.

Graphics in MTC are very polished and look great whether you’re viewing the action from the outside or the inside of your truck. The game runs extremely smooth, with tight, responsive controls, and a high frame rate even with every graphical option maxed out on a 4K monitor. Variable customization like tweaking your truck’s color, gear ratio, suspension, and everything else in between spices up the replay value and adds more immersion to the races.

Controls are precise but feel very different especially if you are unfamiliar with the behaviors of monster trucks. While the keyboard is supported, playing the game with a dual pad controller, or better yet, an actual wheel and pedal setup is the best way to go to maximize your enjoyment.

While Monster Truck Championship offers a lot of trucking variety, it doesn’t quite live up to the expectation set by Microsoft’s Monster Truck Madness. Still, there are a lot of things to like about this version if you’re willing to give it a chance. It won’t quite get you to hog heaven, but it’s the best rough-and-tumble truck racing game thus far.

The core gameplay is fun. I mean, you're driving a monster truck. How can it not be fun? The trucks feel appropriately weighty and bouncy, and you actually have full control over both axles for steering (monster trucks have 4-wheel steering) so you can turn the rear wheels independently of the front wheels, which both helps you maneuver the truck in tight spaces, but also allows you to pull off some pretty cool stunts. And the trucks sound appropriately meaty as well. Graphically I have to say it's nothing terribly special, but it's not bad.

Where it falls apart is the mission structure. Basically, you first have to pay a fee to start any event (except the very first one). This fee can get big--later events in the first league can get close to $10,000. And when the first prize is maybe only $75,000, that 10 grand HURTS. So it puts a lot of pressure on you to win.
And win you must, or you won't unlock more stages. That's right. A podium finish isn't good enough. Nor does it matter your standing in the league. You could be first place overall but if you didn't win out in the last event you're stuck replaying it (and paying that entry fee each time). So what ends up happening is you just mindlessly restart events over and over if it looks like you might come in any worse than first place so you don't have to fork over all your cash. And God help you if you have damage turned on, because monster trucks aren't cheap to fix, and you WILL break your truck. You are able to reset your truck (on lower difficulty levels) if you flip it or get it stuck, but even on lower difficulties you have a limited number of these, and to be honest, if you need to use one of these resets, just restart the event instead. They serve virtually no purpose.

It's too bad. The actual driving is fun, the events are fun, but the way they have progression set up just sucks all the fun out of it. I suppose it's fine if you just want to screw around doing quick events and multiplayer, but the career mode is pretty crap, and it kinda killed it for me.

Perma Traction Control...

(That you can't turn off)

This game in the corners at the moment are plain bad, you cannot power through or control the slide with the throttle. This gets even worse if you have like a right 3 then with a hairpin.
There is also no options to change this in the options.

Ironically the game gives you ”drift points”, i shít you not.
Let that sink in for a moment here you have a game with trucks that have 1500 horsepower and have a power to weight ratio of 22:1 and you cannot power slide it...

Yeah since it's a driving game and it does the driving piss poor then that's cause for insta refund. I could go on about the looks of the game, but main reason is the handling.

This game is really good. I've been waiting for this game for a very long time. It controls good once you get used to the truck, it looks beautiful when it's on epic graphics sadly my PC can't really handle it but it still looks great when it's on low and game play it's fun but i do have to admit there are some problems with the game i ran into when i was playing. For example, Florida stadium is kinda broken, the invisible wall messes me up when I go up on the big hill for a jump. I ran into an invisible wall that messes me up and some of the walls in the maps don't really make sense to me and I would like that to be fixed and some of the map walls don't really make sense either but nothing game breaking. The bots are okay in this game there is nothing special, I would like it to be more challenging for me. soundtrack nothing special to, only like a few is in this game but that world finals soundtrack is badass i love it. customization in this game, there's a lot in this game and i mean a LOT. the online is pretty dead sadly honestly i was most excited for that one feature from this game but no ones really online and that really sucks. but overall the game has some flaws but it's still fun to play and i enjoy every moment of it. My rating for this game is a solid 8/10 it has some problems that can be easily fixed.

Long-time monster truck fan here,

Thank you for making this game. It is a ton of fun. I love the feel of the trucks, and they behave (mostly) realistically. I have wanted a game like this for awhile. I love the drag racing and freestyle modes. Racing is fun as well, but difficult. I love how things are not over-the-top like in every monster truck game. You are racing in stadiums that are set up like they would be in real life.

Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot to do. I just finished the game after around six hours. Like I said, I love monster trucks so I am just happy a game like this exists. However, I can't say most people would want to pay $39.99 (I also got the dlc).

So please give us more. Please let us create our own liveries and stickers, more customization in general. Please give us a simple track editor. And please don't charge us like crazy, the game is already a bit expensive. I really want this game to do well so more like it can be made.

Nowhere Near A Simulator

I have been a fan of monster trucks my whole life. I follow the sport religiously, and have attended dozens of events, so I'm pretty familiar with it. I purchased this game not at all expecting it to be a simulator, but rather an arcade style game, and while I think there is a good game to be had here, I think it needs to be tuned before it gets there.

By far my biggest gripe is with the physics. The trucks don't feel like they have any weight to them, and everywhere you go it's like you're on ice. This makes cornering absolutely obnoxious as the trucks constantly want to spin out, but what's more frustrating is you're powerless to stop it. Once it decides its gonna spin out, it does it, regardless of your input. Once it starts, even if you hold the accelerator all the way down, the truck still slows down and engine rpms go down, as if you're letting off. Realistically, you should be able to power out of SOME of those situations, but the game won't let you. Powersliding doesn't even exist in this game, I should be able to pitch the truck sideways and drift around corners if I want to, but the game just doesn't allow it. It's as if engine rpm and acceleration are tied to your speed somehow, you can't break the tires loose like you could in real life. That needs to be addressed.

Rollovers are also a problem, they are very stiff and jagged. I have watched monster trucks roll over I don't know how many times, both on television and in real life. It's a very fluid motion. The rollovers in the game are almost as if there are stages to them, I think this is to make it easier to perform saves and various other maneuvers that can arise from the truck being on two wheels. That would be great if the truck would respond the way it's supposed to. Really, every time the truck does anything in the game whatever input I do does not produce the result I would expect it to. So for example, in a rollover, if I want to save the truck and bring it back on four wheels, it doesn't seem to matter if I steer into it, steer out of it, accelerate, let off, or any combination of those, the truck just kind of does what it wants. And once you're upside down, there really isn't anything you can do to drive out of it. Once you go past a certain point, the tires just stop gripping and you're resigned to watch the truck come to a stop on it's roof.

One thing that I think contributes to a lot of these problems is the way the game handles the transmission and shifting. In the game, the trucks have a four-speed transmission with a clutch (there are options for other transmissions in the garage, they may have more gears idk). You can set the transmission to automatic in the settings, but all that means is the game shifts through the gears for you. This is entirely unrealistic, monster trucks do not use manual transmissions, they are all automatic. A few still use a 3 speed such as a Turbo 400, but the vast majority use a two-speed powerglide. Changing that detail alone would make the handling make a lot more sense. Also, as it is, the automatic gear-shifting is a bit slow which is frustrating when you spin out and need to quickly back up to continue.

There are numerous flaws with the truck models themselves. Steering rams and tie rods aren't animated, lower four-link bars (referred to as swing arms in game) are not triangulated but rather parallel, which mans the tires clip into them when steering. You won't really be able to see it unless you're upside down. I feel like the devs modeled the trucks off of pictures and videos without really understanding what a lot of the parts are and what they do. Also, idk if it was just in the shop, but while I was browsing the customization I noticed that my truck didn't have a seat in it.

Now for some things that I DID like. Customization looks pretty neat. They didn't license any real trucks so everything is fictional. There are a bunch of different bodies to choose from, from more simplistic pick-up designs to more radical unrealistic models. You can further customize them by choosing different colors, patterns, and stickers. You can also customize performance by unlocking better engines etc, however there are no pros and cons to using different combinations of parts. Each component you unlock is just a straight upgrade over the last one.

I like what they're going for with the career mode, and the added touch of securing sponsors is a fun extra. I think there is a good game here, but to be completely honest I'm just too annoyed at the physics to really give it a good playthrough. I realize that as a hardcore enthusiast I am not really the target audience for this, however I should be because the game is marketing itself as a simulator even though it clearly is not.

For now I will be marking this as not recommended and requesting a refund, but I will keep an aye on the development and if the developers address the problems I have, I may pick it back up and give it another try in the future.

This game is EFFING awesome. Now, 2 weeks ago I saw YouTuber, SlapTrain, get early access to try out the game. INSTANTLY SOLD! The closest game of monster truck simulation you can get is BeamNG. Cool and the destruction you can do to your vehicle is insane, but this takes it up an notch because it feels like you are purely in control and not just trying to control a vehicle to make it respond like a monster truck. THIS IS THE MONSTER JAM FEELING MILLIONS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AND FINALLY THE WAIT IS OVER!!!

THANK YOU TEYON & NACON!!

The game Is by far the best Monster Truck game we have had on PC for quite a long time! I remember Monster Truck Madness back In 99 and It was great! Monster Jam Steel Titians Is the OFFICIAL Monster Jam game and Its fun...but this Is a sim and It nails It! The Physics In this game are even better than Steel Titans!! Now Its not perfect but when you get on 2 wheels on the rear you cant go In reverse and back out of It...Its like the truck doesnt have rear wheel drive so gotta reset. Other thing Is when you break the truck doesnt settle down either so kinda gotta wheel It and hope It lands lol. THE SOOOOUUNNNDDDD...holy cow Is It GREAT! The engine sounds are dead on! Idle Is a little off but man It sounds like pure alcohol burning 1400hp! havent even done Career yet Just basic freestyle getting use to the feel of the truck and I LOVE IT!!! No doubt Its worth $40 and there Is sooooo much more to say like the camera angels you can even change the FOV In the drivers seat and all that...Its really nice! One last thing before I finish this review up...the truck does feel nice..you cant Just run Into a doughnut you have to carry speed and Its not easy lol. I will post a updated review later on but for now 9.5/10

Looks like an arcade game but once you play it...OMG! Physics are top notch. Control is spot on. UI, vehicle and steering wheel settings are impeccable. Loads of extra features & upgrades to unlock. Racing, Drag Racing and Destruction events keep you on your toes.

Don't be fooled, this game is not as easy as it looks but feels very, very rewarding. Most of all its maxed out non-stop fun! I was mind blown!

I still have to check out multiplayer though. Servers were empty before game's launch.

Overall the best monster truck sim out there to date. Nuff said.

YES! You can go and read my review of Monster Jam Steel Titans, and I had some really good things to say about that game, especially since I felt it showed a lot of progression of the series, it was getting better. Well, one glaring hole in MJST ,as I mentioned in that review, is the physics, it is nearly impossible to do any of the real world stunts, like a backflip into a reverse moonwalk, without your truck bouncing 20' into the air. The physics were really bad, and in a monster truck game, in which stunts are the biggest part if what draws the fans, it was a letdown. Well, I just literally pulled off a perfect backflip into a reverse moonwalk in this game. This game still isn't perfect, but it just launched, some of the dirt track races feel like you're driving on ice. Perhaps this can be fixed in a future update, or perhaps it is simply that I still have the starter truck, with no upgrades, and that better traction comes with better upgrades.

Any fan of Monster Trucks, and especially Monster Truck video games owes it to yourself to get this game. I came in early into my playing the game, because I know many of you are like me, and typically want to read reviews before laying down the $. I saw the trailers, and am a fan of the genre so I decided, with knowledge that I can refund if necessary, to get the game, and be one of those folks who always help me make up my mind in the early days of a game launch. I will update this review as I progress, but for right now I highly recommend it. The abilities, that work beautifully so far, during freestyle alone would have been an instant buy for me, but this game is the total package, and the best monster truck game to date, imo.

All monster truck fans should get this game.

Anyone who grew up playing Monster Truck Madness should get a kick out of this game. People who liked Monster Jam Steel Titans but wanted more of a real feel and less arcade, will get a kick out of this game. Racing fans looking for something challenging and new will dig this.

On easy and medium the game is fun for all ages and challenging at times, higher than medium and the game gets very realistic and hard. The trucks actually feel like you're driving a massive vehicle. First person view makes that more apparent. Stunts are far harder to manage than in other monster truck games, just adds to the feeling of driving a massive truck. The sounds of the truck slamming around are perfect.

Truck customization is very Wreckfest for anyone who has played that game. There are bodies, liveries, sticker packs and colors to choose from and mix and match. It's not full out customization like Forza, but it has enough stuff and options to keep things fun and interesting.

Career mode is cool because you actually manage a team and finances. Your team members all have +/- perks which can include larger payouts, better truck stats, lower repair costs and so on...makes the team aspect worth paying attention to. There's also sponsor challenges to win parts and upgrades.

I def think anyone who wanted more from the last Monster Jam will find that in this game.

I was pleasantly surprised when playing Monster Truck Championship. To be clear I know very little about the sport other than the odd video I have seen on youtube or sporting programs. Monster Trucks are not really mainstream in the UK.

With that said the game was fun to pick up and play. There isn’t too much to learn to play, but I get the feeling to master it could take a fair amount of discipline and practice. There are a number of game modes at the time of writing this review I had only played career and quick plan.

The career mode is split in to individual events with various leagues based on your progression. I had fun with the variety of events. Race, drag race, destruction, freestyle. With upgrades to vehicles (cosmetic and performance) that unlock as you progress. Additionally you can unlock team members (mechanics & managers) along with sponsors for upcoming events.

I think there is a reasonable amount to keep casual gamers entertained and would say this is a must buy if your thing is monster trucks. Although I would hesitate to recommend it whole heartedly a at the current price point.
