Weitere Anmerkungen:
So entscheidest du, wann du damit weitermachen möchtest.

the story is totaly bullshit and the fight system is dumb. sometimes is it nearly impossible to dmg an enemy because he gets immune to everything you do, especially in the addons. Eltariel doesnt have much to offer and the enemies add so many immunities that you literally cant even hit them sometimes.
dont buy it. even not in sale. do not waste your time with this mess of a game.

Wer massive Super-Combo-Hack and Slay Schlachten mag, ist hier immer noch richtig.
Positiv:

- Missionen teilweise doch eher repetativ

The Gameplay:
The gameplay is an enhanced version of the original Shadow of Mordor which was already fun in it's own right. The Nemesis system is further built on to simulate a much more organic, delightfully random but overall consistent experience with your orc captains. Everything still gravitates towards taking over a fort, but they put in enough inbetween that it doesn't feel like decoration to the same gameplay, and rather enhancements to what worked. The additional moves added to combat and traversal really keep the experience fresh. Definitely a must get if you enjoyed the first game.
The Story:
The story was actually pretty great. At first it seemed a little contrived (probably cause… well it was but..) it turned out pretty well. There was a little redundancy with Celebrimbor reapting himself about the Palantir 10000 times, but I suppose that was to make sure to cement his motivations and make them absolutely clear.. that he wants the Palantir. They manage to improve on their emotional tones and really make sure to hit home that Talion's situation REALLY sucks. They also threw in a delicious plot twist that had me excitedly giddy till the end and a little sad there wasn't more.
The Visuals:
The visuals take a dramatic step up from the previous entry's and that was nothing to sneeze at either. Most importantly, the armor and weapons that you don look incredibly good. So much so that the alternate skins you can wear for fun just are overshadowed' by the Shadow of Wardrobe Talion has. The various envoirments especially Minas Ithil are also a pleasure to look at, along with all the little tiny details that Tolkein would take 7 and half pages to write about on a door, and absolutely there.
The Sound:
The voice acting was superb and fits with what has been already established within the LOTR universe. In fact this is probably the strongest point since the captain's and their shit talking of you would not be possible without this. And it is almost the entire reason to play the game in my opinion. The music sounds good and now properly hits the right tones to enhance the emotional scenes along with that prior voice acting that I mentioned that truly hit me hard. It was done incredibly well.
The Experience:
Mileage may vary, but in a good way with this game. Everyone's experience will both be curated and unique when playing this game, and this is why I love it. I am glad that whatever P2W mess was originally staining this game is gone and that now you can just play the game as it should have been released. The whole thing left me satisfied until the very end which a lot of games struggle to do. It was perfectly balanced, and while there was extra content to do should I chose it, I never felt like I had to play it like some sort of carrot on stick that a lot of other games like to do now a days. This is certainly worth a play whether or not you are a Lord of the Rings fan. Hell it might get you to want to see the movies if you never have.

A new addition, sieges, are interesting. There is one significant problem though. If you prepare well for the siege by installing your own warchiefs, you basically skip the whole siege as there is no resistance at all except in the final fight, which you essentially MUST over-prepare for by getting a lot of traitors in waiting guarding the overlord. This is because the overlord is usually full of all kinds of immunities and nasty abilities along with all kinds adds and you must fight him head on. There is no outsmarting here like hunting captains in the wild. You MUST use the combat directly which is annoying for a game in which you often have so many options, such as stealth and beasts. If you lose that fight, you could lose an hour of time reinstalling warchiefs and bodyguards. I frequently found myself sticking 6 traitors on the overlord just so I would be ABSOLUTELY sure I wouldn't lose progress by losing the annoying fight.
The fight pits are another sometimes frustrating mechanic wherein you essentially are left to the whims of RNG whether you can assign traitors or warchiefs. Eventually it stopped bothering me, and I'm not sure why, but I know it was frustrating to be almost ready to attack and complete a mission but you have three bad fights in a row and need to hunt captains for another hour.
The game is very long if you do all of the side content and felt a little boring at the end, but it took some time to get there.
The story is much better though it wasn't a high bar. It was at least interesting, but certainly nothing to write home about. Lots of the characters can be a little bland and its more of the plot that was interesting to me. The orcs, again, for some reason, have the best voice acting in the game, even when compared to the main characters and people you should care about.
As far as critiques go, I have the same beef with defenders in this game as the first game (see that review), and there are a few other types of captains and captain traits which are straight up annoying and tedious. Olog captains can be very tedious at times and in certain missions the game limits your choices more by intentionally throwing around a lot of immunities which makes this 'play your way' game a lot more 'find what one thing works well this time'. In general, however, things are fine.
Eltariel's campaign is short, but it couldn't be drawn out much longer without being boring.
Baranor's campaign is very interesting (though short), but also can be frustrating if you are used to getting many tries to do things as it is effectively a roguelike.
Overall, very good game, well worth the sale price.

I never played the first game, Shadow of Mordor, but I didn’t really feel like I had to. The combat is smooth and intuitive with a surprisingly high skill ceiling. I was always learning something new or discovering unique interactions with my abilities and the environment. There’s also loads of different gear-sets all with unique bonuses to change up your build/playstyle dramatically. The gear-set impact on gameplay is really important because the gameplay loop is the same throughout the entire game: find orcs, kill orcs, recruit orcs, take fort, repeat in next zone with higher level orcs.
I think the main reason it never feels like a drag is because the combat is fantastic. I’ve heard great things about the Nemesis system, but in 40 hours of gameplay I have yet to experience it at it’s full potential. I played this game on the “Nemesis” difficulty, so I thought I would get a lot of interaction with Orcs who I’d previously encountered; unfortunately, that’s not the case. Still to this day I do not have one of the most common achievements in the game: Nemesis – encounter the same Orc 3 times. I think to be able to experience the Nemesis system fully in Shadow or War, you must intentionally lose over and over… that’s sort of unnatural for a video game and doesn’t feel super great imo.
Regardless this game looks and feels great for a 6-year-old title and is a fantastic combat sandbox. There’s lots of collectibles and stuff to do around the zones, I think I’m on track to 100% complete the game in about 60 hours and for $5 for the base game + all the DLC… it’s 100% worth it.

The story, while taking some creative liberties with the world and lore of Middle-earth, is engaging. Seeing how Talion and Celebrimbor agree and disagree with one another leads to questions such as the ethics of the Domination mechanic and forcing orcs to fight for you. While some additions are odd (such as the addition of a long thought extinct female Ent and the glamorization of Shelob), other change such as the lore of some Nazgul provide refreshing takes on the history of Middle-earth.
The Nemesis System is better than ever, allowing for memorable allies and enemies amongst the orcs of Mordor. Ologs, Caragor Riders, Shield-Bearers, and more all allow for diverse enemy types that force the player to adapt on the spot and change their approach to each one.
The loot and skill system can seem overwhelming at first, and the gear can accumulate quickly as the playtime lengthens and the Talion slays more and more captains, but it all eventually clicks, allowing the player to focus on various builds such as fire, frost, poison, or curse. Additionally various tribal gear sets allow for different bonus effects that make gameplay engaging and entertaining.
Additionally, the stunning environments show the diversity of the land of Mordor. The lava pits of Gorgoroth contrast greatly with the dense forests of Nurnen. My personal favorite is the snowy mountain region of Seregost.
The overall soundtrack is strong but not anything spectacular, although the main menu theme is one of my favorite pieces of music from a video game. The sound effects of the players' Wraith abilities make perfect sense and provide a hint of something ominous with the ghostly whispers that occur when dashing or slowing down time.
Overall, Shadow of War is a strong successor to Shadow of Mordor, and makes great improvements such as in the overall scale, visuals, and general gameplay. While time spent in menus can seem extraneous, it all ends up being worthwhile. I recommend anyone to give it a try, as it's truly a unique experience.

Shadow Of War, thus raises the perplexing inquiry of how much abuse a neurotic female, who is oft referred to as an ‘Orc’, ‘Uruk’ or ‘Olog’, can endure, before succumbing to the depths of despair and consigning their fate to that of a piglet’s, bereft of temperance and encompassed by gluttony. All throughout Middle Earth, the incorrigible darkspawn Orcish race are held in the greatest of contempt. Propaganda, perpetuated by courtyard heralds, allude to rumours that the Orc was conceived through the insidious corruption of abducted Elven thralls, with Elves being frequently referred to as the graceful and benign Shetland Pony. These Shetland’s were once benevolent and jubilant steeds, gallant stallions of joy, who altruistically proffered their heads unto enthusiastic younglings and adults alike, to be petted and covet perpetual bliss. They were magnanimous beasts, trampling the ground in their finely shodden hooves, displaying their raw, unfettered might to all who congregated around their pasture. Unfortunately, these Shetlands, have been corrupted, morphed into frilly dress wearing, gregarious entities, with large buxom’s and voluptuous frames. And now that the vestiges of impurity have been siphoned and imbued within these Shetlands, they have been released, en masse, to plague Middle Earth. Engineered to beguile the menfolk into their homes, bestow them with a night of carnal passion and pleasure towards the males well endowed phallus and then the male is entrapped, destined to be subject to an eternity of banal chatter, wholly revolving around Orcish delights such as high heels, vapid hearsay and the latest controversy revolving around Orctoria’s Secret. What has occurred to these men is nothing short of insidious. Similar to a marriage between man and dog, the menfolk are apprehended by Orc’s, ushered into nuptial bliss and are then verbally tortured, until they cater along the brink of insanity. Every year, more and more titular men, for no genuine male would fall prey to the birdsong of an Orc, capitulate to their lust and are lured away by the Orcs, who abstrusely emerge from their burrows in ubiquitous number. The quantity of these Orcs is utterly flummoxing, as Shetland Elves are sparsely scattered along all of Middle Earth and cannot compensate for the entirety of these deranged fiends.
Due to the scarcity of Shetland Elves, the inventive inner workings of the mind have conjured up a multitude of reasons as to why Orcs have grown to such an alarming number. Scholarly erudites, have proposed that these newfound branch of Orcs, regarded as Uruks and Ologs, have spawned from Voidwoken fowl eggs, hatched from the zygote to birth a beast wreathed in canard and social turmoil. Other more robust, albeit, thick headed buffoons, proclaim that this is the indignant Valar’s punitive method of smiting our increasingly immense amount of spiritual apathy, insolence, lack of worship and disconnect that man has expressed unto them. The latter option, although plausible to the cynical masses, is an utter farce, as our kind tarries about day and night, prudently erecting idols, and shrines to the Valar, who vigilantly act as sentinels of safety and prosperity for our civilisation. Regardless, of the theories, the genuine reality is that these sirens of sociability and harbingers of gossip, reproduce from chattering so frequently, that the sound waves they convey, accumulate and form into a tangible Orc, who is astonishingly more amicable and festive than its predecessors. This then leads into the main predicament. With every emergence of an Orc, our menfolk, the sentinels of mankind, have their lives placed in jeopardy. This threat is exacerbated by the emergence of corpulent, deranged Orcs, whose bulk is so immense, that they are said to be capable of blotting out the sunset at dawn.
It has been discovered, through gleaning the archaic scrawlings upon the wall, that berating and conveying a sly quip towards an Orc, increases their propensity to chatter, whilst simultaneously bestowing them with a hearty appetite, worthy of titans. This insinuates that the sole reason on why the populational boom has occurred, is because of the callous treatment that we have subject to their dainty, Orcanly ears. For every Orc that we berate or belittle, another ‘female’ falls into the throngs of depression and begins cramming cobs of corn down her gullet in eager gusto, until she emulates an overweight caricature of corpulence, with fat dripping from her pores and a chin submerged under several layers of skin.
And prithee tell, where are the heroes of yore to deliver us from the brink of calamity and devastation, wreaked by the gentler sex? Your kings have failed ye, enthralled by the ostentatious glamour and mammaries of Orcish courtesans. Our Gods, the Valar, once so benevolent and altruistic, have shunned us. Allowing our soil to be scorched and blackened, with our cities squandering in ash and turmoil. Yet still, we cling to hope, an individual to place our trust in and make a scapegoat for when all goes awry. This champion, our supposed paragon of hope, valour and grit, was Talion, but did he not succumb to the lustful haze long ago, when he fell prey to the bewitching eye of Loreth the brunette Orc? And yet, despite our shortcomings, and the failure of the leaders and paladins that we rely on, you do not plead? You do not kneel to dust your heads with ash? Instead, you pitifully wail, “Why has thy Lord forsaken us?” We must unite, for our heroes have perished and all that are left are yeomen and serf alike. If we fail and renegade on our duty to gallantly face the foe, not only for ourselves, but our younglings, then our fate will be severe indeed and see our phalluses engorged upon the womb of an Orc, with the bulk of a mammoth.
Now is the time to congregate as one entity. We will regard the adversity with the utmost of courtesy, for aggression and jibe are the two staples in which an Orc acquires his power. I regale to you now my brothers, if we are to falter and be held captive, to be coerced into choosing an Orcish mate, then our diplomacy to the Orcs, will temper the hearts of the fates. Albeit, if we react with impunity and continue our relentless verbal harassment onto the Orcs, then in the event that we are abducted, the fates will bear a malicious glint and assign us to marriage with pudgy Orcish beasts, filled to the brim with lard and cream. I assert once more, you may slaughter, eviscerate and curbstomp these Orcs, but ne’er attempt to pry and shatter their glamour, for in doing so you will inevitably subject us to a lifetime of copulation and uncouth, debauched deeds with womanly mammoths, as opposed to nubile, curvaceous Orcs, inherently brimming with carnal desires.

To be frank, Shadow of War Definitive Edition is a masterpiece. Well, what else can I say. This game is amazing. The story is amazing and gives us an idea about what was happening in the early days of Sauron's return. All new characters, epic castle sieges, and forming a massive army out of orcs, not humans, not elves. It shows how life in Mordor is like. It also has amazing graphics, satisfying game-play, and it really makes you feel for the orcs in your army, something that really never has been seen. Combined this with quirky personalities, titles, names, and special powers, gives the orcs the charm they deserve. Talion is also super fun to play as, with all his special moves. This game makes you feel invincible. I also didn't find any major glitches. The only glitch I found was during the death cinema-tics. The orcs could be facing the wrong way, etc. Overall, great game.
Blade of Galadriel:
In the appropriately named Blade of Galadriel expansion you play as the assassin Eltariel, also known as the Blade of Galadriel, who appeared as an NPC in the original game. The story addition, of which the content I don’t want to spoil, picks up after Act 3 and continues to deliver solid game-play with some new skills, new gear and unique abilities. It also provides closure to the base game’s story-line.
Desolation of Mordor:
Desolation of Mordor is an interesting addition on its own. You play as the Gondorian captain Baranor who relies on more earthly skills such as a grappling hook and a parachute instead of the ring’s supernatural abilities. You also gain access to the desert of Lithlad where you have to liberate a handful of outposts which award you with upgrades and skins. Although the story this DLC tries to tell doesn’t have a lot of meat to the bone and Baranor’s gadgets feel like they have been taken right out of Just Cause’s arsenal, the game offers a great challenge in your quest to dethrone the Overlord.
Nemesis expansions:
The Definitive Edition contains both the Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe expansions which adds 2 more tribes to the 7 that were already present in the base game. You get new finishers, abilities and personalities and also a couple of new missions; you face a tribal war-band where orcs from one tribe fight other random orcs as well as a tribal showdown where you fight against the Tribe’s captain.
Lastly, The story line is epic. You are not just playing but also sort of watching a film. Missions are not repetitive and really challenging. All in all it’s worth every penny. Highly recommend!

While definitely worth playing, I'm left a bit disappointed with the missed opportunities for deeper strategy and more varied game play options. Perhaps that's just my hope for a sequel or spiritual successor?

It's funny how this game made me realize, how many heroes through the history of the world were forgotten .This game was literally going by the saying “Either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain”.This game has a special place in my heart.

I had an orc named Gund Giggles, he wasn't the brightest, but he had a funny name, so i liked him regardless. after a long conquest of a fort with him helping me all the way, he was promoted to overlord of said fort after. Unfortunately, his position was short-lived and was killed in a defense not to long after by a Olog i don't remember the name of. losing him made me reasonably upset so i tried to track the bastard down and after 15 minutes i found him and engaged, but he was resistant to all my powerful tools, and killed me as well, but to add insult to injury, he BROKE MY GODDAMN SWORD. from this point i went from upset to pissed, he took my favorite orc, and now my best weapon too. i came back with a not as good, but still formidable sword to do it again, and keeping in mind his weaknesses, i took him down on my second try, recovering my sword, which was now reforged to the highest possible level, and avenging my best orc.
Experiences like these are what make this game unique, and i HIGHLY suggest you play this game yourself.

A solid game that will live through the years
The greatest thing about Shadow of War, but also Shadow of Mordor and pretty much all the LOTR-related games?
Everyone can pick them up, and really love and enjoy them even if they're not into the lore of 'em.
You see, LOTR was never my thing, it's one of the fictional universes i could never really bond with, so i don't know much about the lore itself. I did see some movies, and made some Gandalf memes in my days but that's all my interaction with this franchise.
However, LOTR games were always goddamn amazing in terms of actual gameplay, they managed to keep having a constant good and satisfying gameplay throughout all these years.
I have to admit, i barely paid any attention to the story, and with me not having much knowledge about LOTR space, there's not much for me to say about it. I even skipped a big part of the cutscenes, well... except for Shelob's (:D)
In SOW, you get some new weapons and skills, there are some new enemies, and overall the world is much much bigger, however, i would've preferred even more weapons and less skills, because at times, these new abilities feel like they were there just as an extra, something not necessary that tends to cause more annoyingness in the long run.
The world or i should say, worlds, are very well crafted with unique beauty, each with its own charms, quirks, strategies.
At first i was put off by the game, maybe i was too accustomed to the previous game and was expecting the exact same thing. While there aren't major changes, there's some new UI stuff that might feel weird at first.
I'd say it has good hardware optimization overall. The game also works fine with a mouse but i'd really recommend you to play it with a controller, it's less confusing at times.
tl;dr - Gameplay is solid, and you don't need to be a fan to enjoy it, you can have as little knowledge about this universe as you have of building a spaceship, and you will still get few dozen hours of fun out of it.

You’ll do missions set around Gondor, learning about how Minas Ithil has been attacked by Sauron’s army and the Nazgûl (the holders of the nine rings of power). You meet up with a woman called Elitariel who you’ll work with quite a lot before the story is over, as well as fighting the tormented Nazgûl including the Witch-King. There are missions you’ll complete for Shelob, the Olog-Hai called Bruz, Carnan, and loads more. They all play a role in the story of Talion and the fate of Middle-earth in one way or another, and there’s never a mission that feels like filler. Each one is crafted excellently, serving a major purpose for the story, and to give you a fantastic experience.
Playing Shadow of War is immense, and the upgraded combat and movement system is varied and fun. It’s also incredibly versatile, allowing you to personalize your own style to the letter by unlocking a wealth of new abilities across the massive skill trees. You can focus on a multitude of branches such as Wraith and Combat which really open up gameplay the further you get. For example, the Bird of Prey ability allows you to freeze in the air when using Focus and aim your Elf-shot at any surrounding Orcs.
Shadow Strike is by far the best upgrade, and while it may not be available at the start, you become much better off for having it. You can instantly move to an Orcs location via teleportation, or now you can bring them to you by holding in the same button. It means that size providing (and if they’re not resistant) you can bring Orc Captains and Warchiefs to you. There’s so much scope for variety when tackling an outpost or a fortress that you’ll be overwhelmed at first, but when you start to incorporate everything you’ve learned and everything you’ve unlocked, it’s among the best experiences you’ll have.
Moving about is liberating, such as having Elven Agility to run extra fast or having the Shadow Strider ability to double jump up buildings and through the air, making it much easy to stay on rooftops and get away from huge Orc onslaughts. You can also barge into Orcs, slide across the ground, use stealth to kill in silence, or ride around on a multitude of beasts through the Shadow Mount ability, letting you dominate a broken Caragor or Graug to ride on and use to fight in your honour.
There is an online market where you can buy loot boxes, but they aren’t essential. You find plenty of decent gear littered around Mordor, so there’s no need to look to the market if you’re struggling. You can also purchase Orcs for your army on the market, but again, this isn’t a necessity because you’ll encounter so many opportunities to dominate them on your journey.
One of the greatest features of the original was the Nemesis System mechanic, meaning Orcs would remember who you were, get promoted through their ranks and increase their level, all in real time as your story progressed. It returns here, but on a much grander scale. There are lots of different classes of Orcs, such as the Archers, Savages, and Olog-Hais. Assassins, Berserkers, and Marksmen are more advanced and are associated with the Captains and above. Each class has a weak point, but also a strength so knowing them becomes commonplace.
It’s essential to learn how each one works, and find ways to exploit them. Berserkers, for example, are brutal and relentless when attacking, but blocking and freezing allows you to attack without any quarrel. Olog-Hais are big bastards, but you can stun them and climb on their backs, stabbing them to wear them down. There are loads of ways to bring down the Captains and Warchiefs, not just through the types of class they are. Grog barrels are littered around which can be poisoned and blown up, as are the huge sacks of meat for attracting Caragors, so if they have a fear of these beasts, or are instantly dazed or heavily damaged by poison, this is the way to go. You can interrogate Orcs for intel like before, and doing so will make these battles much easier than going in blind.
The real genius of the Nemesis System is how you can exploit it. You can dominate a whole host of Orcs to recruit to your army, send them to kill rival army Captains, infiltrate rival Warchiefs and gain their trust a-la Donnie Brasco, and assign them to be bodyguards to your own Warchiefs or even yourself. This led to many amazing moments where my Captains would stab a Warchief right in the back, destabilizing him and helping to turn the tides of battle in a heartbeat. It also had its downfalls, as members of my army might turn on me when I needed them most, or ambush me when I was already overrun. It’s magnificent because encounters, betrayals, and ambushes can happen at any time, but this feels more realistic and makes everything you do seem important.
There are plenty of Nemesis Missions and Vendetta Missions you can do to kill those that defeated or humiliated you, and they’re only available for a limited amount of time due to death and revenge being a part of every Orc’s life, not just yours. They’ll want revenge as well, and boy, they come in droves. One of the Warchiefs I destroyed hunted me down hours later and faced me on the plains of Gongoroth, where we fought to the death in a long and arduous battle. These kinds of fights happen all the time, and you’ll even encounter certain enemies tens of hours later, in ways you never thought you would. It’s a system that bleeds in the Fortress Sieges as well, because a massive part of Shadow of War is the war side of it.
The game is set in acts, and after Act I, you begin to build an army to take down the first fortress, ran by an Overlord – the most powerful Orc in the region. You must dominate Captains to join your ranks, level them up by training and sending them off on missions, culminating in taking down these fortresses in the most epic kind of fantasy war ever seen in a game. Once you’ve selected the Warchiefs you’re going to take into battle, you must give them an Upgrade, such as an army of axe-wielding Orcs or Caragors. Having settled on an army, you’ll be given a level based on the ranking of your army and how many Warchiefs have been selected.
The opposing army also has a level, so it’s important to match or exceed it for a better chance of victory. I found that the best way to do this was through hunting down their Warchiefs individually and killing them before attempting a siege. This rapidly decreases the fortress level, and makes capturing the victory points within the fortress much easier as the Warchiefs aren’t around. It can take time to get a fortress level down, but the satisfaction of taking them down far outweighs the journey there. There gets to a point within the game where you must defend them too, and this changes the dynamic. You will need to bolster defences such as your walls and your lines of defences atop the walls with Siege Beasts (Graugs trained by the military).
There is so much to do in Shadow of War that at first, it’ll overwhelm you, but the best thing to do is just enjoy it. If a mission presents itself, do it. Soak it in and enjoy every little thing, from the collecting of Gondorian artifacts, learning about Shelob and Celebrimbor’s pasts, to the main intertwining missions.

1. The combat is 10x better than assassin creed game, stealth check, brute force check , ranged check.
2. Summoning Dragon and or graugs makes you feel like a badass in the middle of the battlefield, hell you can even ride them to smash .
3. having 3 DLCs explores different character which changes the whole experience of the gameplay . so DLCS are worth it.
4. the adaptive orc speech taunts you into playing the game more, / killing the orc captain.
Overall 10/10

Good things about the game:
- Engaging combat with a lot of skill involved.
- Variable difficulty. (I played on Brutal, which makes the enemies smarter and hit way harder but removes bloated HP.)
- An awesome story based in the Lord Of The Rings universe with an amazing ending.
- The skill tree feels worked on and you will have to get certain skills to match your playstyle.
- You can gather unique gear that boost certain aspects of your characters abilities, as such you can make different builds that focus on different tactics.
- The graphics are good.
- The free roaming in the game is decent, you can get ambushed whilst getting to your objective and you will often encounter enemies whilst traveling.
- The Nemesis system makes enemies adapt to your combat strategies, and they will get stronger when they kill you. They'll change names at times and some of the enemies are really unique and make you laugh.
- Dying has consequences, as the enemy who kills you will get stronger and adapt. If a grunt kills you they will become a captain, possibly being an extreme challenge to take down later on.
- There are a wide variety of captains, with different personalities and dialogue. There's one who is usually called the Screamer, he usually makes me laugh.
Bad things about the game:
- The movement doesn't always work as you want it to and you will find yourself climbing buildings that you never intended to climb.
- I've encountered a bug where your camera freezes and no longer follows your character, meaning you can no longer go further than 50 meters. This was fixed by restarting the game.
- Certain story elements felt dragged out, one of those being Bruz's quests, which I won't spoil here. I'll just say that the quest goes on far longer than it needs to and is just frustrating to complete.
- Many quests force you to switch region in order to continue the quest. An example is Bruz's quest, which forces you to switch regions about 5 to 7 times in order to complete the quest. Needless to say, if your computer isn't a Nasa super computer you'll find yourself spending a lot of time in a loading screen.
- I cant say that the side quests were all that entertaining at all, as all of them felt a little frustrating to complete.
Much fun very cool.
This game is extremely good and well worth your money, be it on sale or just full price. I had a lot of fun in the game.
The difficulty I played on was perfect because it didn't make the game a chore to complete, and I was always scared to die as to not create an extremely difficult captain.
I feel pretty confident in saying that if you buy the game at full price and only play the main story mission, you'll still have gotten your money's worth.
The master here loved this game.

The main story, Talion and Celebrimbor, in an effort to challenge the forces of the Dark Lord, forges a new ring of power in the Mount of Doom; the first amendment, Eltariel under Galadriel declares war on the Nazguls of Minas Morgul; the second amendment, Baranor wants with an army of Easterling mercenaries to occupy Lithlad.
The story in Shadow of War is decently ornate and I definitely enjoyed it, it is worth mentioning my favorite part and that is the fight with the balrog Tar Goroth and the creation of the dark Talion and his undead empire was also extremely epic.
I also liked the Nemesis system, thanks to which you will want to catch the most original and craziest orc and conquer the whole of Middle-earth in his company. It's a pity that even that will become repetitive over time.
It pissed me off that it was impossible to skip the annoying representation of enemies, but that's probably how it should be.
However, it is a great pity that for some reason the making of screenshots did not work for me (for several days I searched for a solution), because there were a lot of moments in the game that I wanted to record. 95%

However no company deserves the right to patent game mechanics that not only they did not invent, but also other games both past and future can use.
Shadow of War 10/10 would buy a third time.
Warner Brothers 0/10 never buying a game from them again.

Is Shadow of War worth buying in 2021?
Short Answer: YES!!
Shadow of War is one of the most enjoyable game I have ever played
Even after all these years I still go back to play it again once in a while. This game doesn't end when the story is over. It's absolutely worth getting, especially on sale. The online portion is still played by many. It’s not pvp though so don't expect that. The Online conquest is a sort of pve game mode but the forts which you can attack are set up by actual people, so you'll never really find the same setup all the time. You can send your overlord on an online pit fight or you fight against other people’s fortresses that they've stocked with, usually, their best orcs. Online vendetta is similar but is more like missions where you are going after an orc from other players’ game who has killed them. You can also defeat and recruit orcs from other players forts. The same way, if any of your precious orc unfortunately dies in any of these online conquests you will lose them for good.
The Nemesis System and combat gameplay are what keep me coming back
The combat is similar to the likes of Assassins Creed and the Batman Arkham games but much better in my opinion. The abilities, combos etc are really fluid and satisfying. It’s not just hack and slash, you have to use your brain before going after different types of orcs. Higher tier Orcs will have multiple immunities, rages and strengths along with certain weaknesses. You can have to exploit them in your advantage, by tracking down a Worm. For example, there are orcs who are immune to arrows, executions, fire etc. Fortress captains tend to have more strengths than weaknesses, so you have to be careful with that. You have to plan your ambush/attack and prepare before joining a fight.
Thanks to the unique, intricate & superbly designed content generator named ‘Nemesis system’ I never got bored at finding interesting AI orcs with personality, unpredictable behaviour and catchy, comedic/provocative dialogues. Not to mention certain death defying orcs who just would not stay dead. No matter how much punishment they go through they still sometimes resurrect and ambush. You might think that the best thing to do here is dominate and recruit them but they can still betray you later!! The Nemesis System also rewards creative and adventurous players with new story lines and breath-taking encounters one after another. The system even turns some orcs into truly memorable enemies.
Furthermore
The game’s visuals and landscapes are sublime. The story can easily rival the masterpiece that is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. This story driven game also has some intriguing plot twists that is worth mentioning.
The in game unlockable gear sets including rings, bows, swords, armors, cloaks, daggers, hammers, masks are quite remarkable. I didn’t have to grind very hard to get them.
While playing the game I became addicted to fighting Orcs, hunting them down, confronting those that betrayed me or killed my Captains. After levelling up and acquiring new sets of skills/abilities I felt a sense of unique and divine Godly power….it’s hard to describe with words. I also formed a bond with Talion not just to avenge the slaughtering of his whole family but through his morals and belief in a better world – a better Mordor.
DLC
There are two DLC available which are slightly different as you play different characters (Eltariel & Baranor) in them. You get Nemesis expansions: a number of new Tribes, new orcs, tribal weapons, legendary gear sets, new fortress & regions and obviously new missions. They tie this game’s story nicely with the earlier story of Shadow of Mordor.
Any gripes?
Although certain aspects of the game like brutal killing, torturing, and mind controlling the evil can be fun for many people but might be little too much for certain faint hearted ones ????
Conclusion
In my honest opinion, even if you are not a big fan of Lord of the Rings or not much familiar with it, it’s a pretty safe bet you'll get your money’s worth in Shadow of War definitive edition.

I should mention I played this game well after the microtransactions had been removed. These were, by all accounts, egregious and ruined the portion of the game based around building your armies. As I did not play during this time, I cannot account for these issues.
The previous entry, Shadow of Mordor, was a surprise hit, coming out of nowhere to be a game based on a legendary IP that was actually good, unlike most games based on existing IP. It benefited from virtually no expectations, but in this sequel, expectations were high. Fortunately, almost every system has returned bigger and better, with a lot of extras thrown in.
You are once again Talion, the Gravewalker, a man banished from death due to being joined with the dead Elf Celebrimbor. The story is what you would expect - you are meant to free Mordor from the threat of Sauron and the Nazgûl - but this time you are aided by Shelob, the spider demon. This is not unlike being aided by Gollum in the previous game, where an evil or at least morally ambiguous character provides help. There are, of course, some humans that help out as well, in addition to some Orcs that provide comedic relief. Ultimately, while the story is decent, it is forgettable and serves as window dressing to the gameplay.
The game world is split up into several regions that each have a set of outposts and a fortress, as well as a number of collectables and challenges. The main story quests thread through these regions, but the bulk of the game's content is controlling these regions and building up your army.
Not long into the game, you gain the ability to dominate Orcs and add them to your ranks. The goal is to use these to overthrow the Orcs controlling the outposts, and then eventually lay siege to the fortress and kill its overlord. Once this is done, you can then defend against sieges and lay sieges from this fortress.
Orcs you dominate can be improved with a currency or made to fight against other Orcs in pit fights. This can be entertaining, but the pit fights are often too long, boring, and the AI does ridiculous things. You will often stare at your Orc, or the opponent Orc, while he does absolutely nothing except yell and jeer. I am not sure how, after many patches, this was never fully resolved.
Talion can be improved far more this time around. There are more abilities and a massive gear system, with gem slotting. The gear can be fun to chase, but I did not find it very important. I played on Nemesis difficulty, which was the hardest when the game released but has since been surpassed, and while there was a high degree of challenge, once you master countering and how to react to foes, what gear you are wearing matters less and less. Eventually, I stopped caring about the gear.
The Nemesis system itself, which describes how the Orcs and you interact, is richer than ever, as are the variety of Orc captains you will face. There are more speeches, more visual variety, and more things Orcs can have strengths or weaknesses to. For the most part, this is good, though some combinations of traits can make some Orcs far, far too tedious to kill. For example, some Orcs can be functionally immune to ranged attacks, stealth attacks, and standard combat moves, as well as things like fire, which limits how you can even attack them to a narrow band of choices. If you get the right mix, and the Orc can also heal himself, for example, some fights are such a slog you may as well not even bother.
If you are looking for a well-executed open world game, this will fit the bill. In particular, if you enjoyed its predecessor, there is more to love here. However, I found myself enjoying this less than Shadow of Mordor, if only because it surprised me less and demanded so much more of my time. Thus, I would still recommend the first game to newcomers and this sequel to those who just want more of the first.

Good blend of the Jackson trilogy style and making the Orcs have more personality and charm.
Nemesis system is intriguing and creates some amazing stories from RNG NPCs that are more memorable than many main questlines in modern videogames.

Overall positive impression, badly soured by design flaws that become glaringly obvious on higher difficulties and in longer play sessions.
I'd take Shadow of War with higher difficulty settings and rebalanced player abilities (unlocking even half of them makes the player ridiculously powerful) over this game any day. But both games are very mod unfriendly, so that's unfortunately is not a real possibility. Sequels are also nowhere to be seen.

-A random orc
???? Description:
Shadow of War nowadays is considered a must have game for the diehard fans, of the L.O.T.R. franchise. Even though, it does not follow the story by the book, it describes an amazing adventure that can please even the most demanding players.
As its predecessor, Shadow of Mordor, the game is an epic story driven action RPG game, where you utilize the power of the ring at its full potential. You fight and recruit armies of orcs that sometimes lead to epic battles, alliances and even betrayals. I really enjoy the game in its highest difficulty, since it adapts to the needs and the playstyle of the player.
???? Plot:
Summary
In Shadow of War, we are following Talion who is still infused with the ancient lord Celebrimbor, in their attempts to defeat the Dark Lord. This time, both travel to Mount Doom, where they forge a new Ring of Power, free of Sauron's corruption. Celebrimbor believes that the ring could be controlled, thus giving the wielder the ability to become the new King. Talion, who is not as interested in power, believes that Celebrimbor`s cause is just and they both decide to face Sauron and his Nazgul army in Mordor.
Shadow of War’s plot is a very delicate matter. As mentioned before, the game sometimes even completely breaks the lore, with the addition of characters like Shelob or the necromancer Zog etc… The fanbase was quite mad with some of the character progression, and the ending frustrated the hell out of the community as well. I personally agree with some statements, but not all of them are accurate for reasons mentioned below.
The Cornerstone
During your whole playthrough, the stronger emphasis is on the relation of Talion and Celembrimbor. Both begin to question their motives, as according to them, peace should be achieved in a different way. Celembrimbor’s opinion revolves around control, whereas Talion’s opinion around freedom. They both make valid points and force the player to question the morality of the cause, thus giving a neat touch in the interactive nature of the game.
Characters
I really enjoyed the different unique personalities you encounter during your playthroughs, both by ncps and protagonists alike. The main cast express feelings that can be relatable to our own. Their interactions concerning death and defeat, approach those of the true world, thus making their conversation more memorable and appealing. Furthermore, their adventures are not left forgotten, since the DLC’s give a proper conclusion to each arc.
Nemesis system
It feels like magic how each orc evolves, depending on whether you make them an ally, shame them or simply cut them into pieces. I humiliated an orc so many times, that after some point he became obsessed with me! Your actions now have consequences, so do not be surprised if an enemy or ally champion cheats death, just so that he can serve you or even worse, kill you.
Lore
The lore has been tweaked, depending on the needs of the game. Shelob, as we all know is not considered a valid character on the books. On the contrary she is just a deadly spider. This is not the problem though. I personally welcome changes, as long as they are properly made. However, there are certain plot holes that cannnot be unnoticed. For example, the ability to summon Balrogs by certain special orcs was baffling to me. How the hell can an orc move a stick and in the same time revive a demon? At least explain the process.
Ending
I found the original ending very fulfilling. In my opinion, they did not have to expand further upon the story. Talion had a proper character progression, however in the end they butchered it. I did not expect such a twist and I assure you, neither will you.
The Blade of Galadriel DLC for me was a nuisance. From all the protagonists Eltariel is the least favorable, but that’s another story for another review.
The developers expanded the universe without reason. They tried to milk the already beloved concept, without putting much thought on the consequences. That was a bad move and they paid it in the end dearly.
Overall, the plot is decent but I cannot compared it to its supreme gameplay style.
????️ Gameplay:
The free-flow combat as well as its parkour aspect are both thrilling and mesmerizing in the same time. You can really ‘feel’ the power of the ring, as it’s combos and the surprising changes in certain ‘loved’ (by fans) abilities leave a special charm. The skill tree in my opinion is very well made and you can always switch playstyles in order adapt to your different needs. Last but not least, the game revolves around repetition, grinding and careful planning, that’s why it takes time before Shadow of War reveals its true potential.
Scaling
Equipment is primarily obtained by defeating Orc Captains and completing missions in Shadow of War. More difficult Orcs with higher rarities will drop gear that matches their rarity. You can upgrade the gear in the future, in order to match your level by coins or by completing a given challenge . Legendary armor sets provide bonus stats, making Talion a deadly machine.
- During your adventures, you will encounter orcs with different specialties and levels. The rarity varies from common to legendary. What rarity Orcs spawn at, is out of your hands, however it is worth tracking them down and claiming them as your own. That's why, look carefully at the nemesis system, since some orcs are very rare to encounter!
- Most of the time, higher tier Orcs will have some immunities and strengths. You can exploit them in your advantage, by tracking down a Worm. For example, there are orcs who are immune to arrows etc... Fortress captains tend to have more strengths than weaknesses, so be careful with that. Plan your ambush and get prepared before joining a fight.
Nemesis system
Even though certain aspects remain the same like in the original, there are some tweaks that make it more interactive and thus more enjoyable from the previous game. It a is high risk - high reward play in other words, so choose your approach carefully.
- You can send death threats In that way, you upgrade the gear quality obtained by an enemy orc. The downside, the targeted champion comes well prepared, setting a trap of his own. The encounter becomes harder and you risk defeat.
- You can send ambushes Ally champions join the fight. Encounters become easier, but you are risking the life of your companion. With this strategy you can also level up your orcs!
- You can send spies to infiltrate the enemy lines Your champion, needs to defeat an enemy captain in the the arena in order to take the enemy's place. There are lots of benefits with this technique. However, there are also some risks. If your orc is defeated in the arena or for some reason is caught by the fortress master. Then, it is guaranteed you will bid him fair well, as he definitely gonna meet his maker (forever ???). If he wins though, he may even become the personal bodyguard of the Fortress Captain.
There are so many other things that I can mention here. But that will ruin the fun. Explore for yourself and share your weird adventures, in the comments below. ????
????️ Side Notes:
Microtransactions were among the core problems of the game back in the day. However, this has changed making it more approachable and thus more appealing for us the players.
???? Verdict:
For the first time after so many years, we the L.O.T.R. nerds finally got a game that truly deserves our attention and respect! Came for the plot, stayed for the combat...
-In memory of Garl Warmonger ( Legendary ) orc. ????

War for Mordor tries to build on the first game with new mechanics that are just too clunky and it suffers.
Combat is essentially identical, with the Batman system being used. There are two huge issues. The first is targeting. There is no clear way to tell who you are going to be attacking. So you end up spamming X hoping you hit the right target. Hilariously your avatar will frequently attack your own minions. Second, and related, is there are very few ways to heal in the middle of Battle. Draining an enemy should work but it is a channeled ability and you rarely have time to get it off. It's all or nothing, so if you don't complete the channel you get no health, and you are helpless while doing so. This means you have to run away, find a lonely victim, drain it, then head back into the fight. It creates a lot of downtime.
Otherwise I don't have much to complain about the mechanics. Some abilities are rarely if ever helpful, namely distract and grab abilities. A lot of emphasis is put on making them good look and sound good than actually being fun to play. They try so hard to make it this grand cinematic experience they forgot people have to play the game.
Perhaps the highlight is the Captains. Many of these fights can be fun, especially exploiting their weaknesses. However too often they are just huge damage sponges and the targeting problems eventually make these fights a chore.
The addition of a large inventory system seems like it should make the game more customizable, but in reality you just pick the weapons/armor with the highest number.
Other abilities are just implemented poorly. Elf Mode (whatever it's called) let's you get lots of free hits in, but you're just spamming X randomly hoping you kill what you actually want to kill. It also takes forever to charge. Glaive attack also seems like it should be stronger than it is. The execute ability may be the worst. It builds based on how many times you get a successful attack vs how often you get attacked. The problem is a single attack will set the meter so far back it's hard to pull it off. Worse, if you use Consume accidentally on a Captain the entire ability is wasted.
But what did it for me was the Fortress Battles. Clearly these were implemented with an eye of multiplayer and loot boxes. While they got rid of loot boxes their effect still lingers. You will have to grind out these fortresses to defeat them, and do it three separate times. I had hoped the army system would be implemented better but unfortunately it isn't.
The main story mode is a mess, at least from a narrative standpoint. About half way through I was skipping the cutscenes. All the characters except Talion & Celimbrimbor were terrible, but especially Gondor-girl. Most story missions are just some variation of the open world missions that already exist. But the boss battles are just terrible. It was clear they wanted to create these nice looking set piece battle, but in the end they are just quick-time events or pushing X repeatedly until you win. These are just a complete bore.
Progression is largely through skill points. At first these are a lot of fun, granting you fun new powers to help kill orcs quicker. But each skill has a sub-perk you can select, but only one. Once you've got all the new abilities and their subperks there's no more progression except stat boosting items. Combat becomes boring.
Now you do get a lot of game for your money. You can spend lots of time leveling up, making your fortresses stronger, recruiter more orcs etc. I still put in 33 hours, but only about 10 hours of that was fun. I enjoyed the first game but this ones seems too focused on building this multiplayer fortress sieging world than a fun experience.

I guess i should start off with the good points of the game.
It's got:
Good graphics;
Huge open world to explore;
Lots of collectables;
An interesting story;
Fun progression, making the protagonist stronger as the game goes on and rewarding high skill gameplay;
Satisfying combat with lots of flashy finishers;
The biggest strength this game has: the randomly generated orcs and the ability to recruit them create your own army to fight in epic battles to conquer the world.
This makes for some of the most memorable battles in my gaming history.
But all games come with bad points, but when it comes to Shadow of War, they are quite minor in my opinion.
Anyways here they are:
Glitches, while funny most of the time can be quite annoying as they can make you redo missions that you've already done.
However, this is rare which makes it tolerable;
The characters arent really brimming with personnality, making alot of them quite forgettable.
Only a few stand out.
Overall this game is lots of fun, and one of my personnal favorites.

The only time consuming think is to conquer fortress again and again..
Online conquest is insane..you can easily win 4 to 5 online conquest but after that you will face really hard and then it is impossible to win without Micro transaction !!
Good story games like this should really avoid micro transaction !!

The real star of the show is in the gameplay systems though — primarily the Nemesis System, the domination of Orcs, and the building of your army to take on Sauron. This system is so well implemented here.
Siege Battles have been added to this game and it’s one of the major additions to Shadow of War. This is the main mechanic in each region that has you trying to whittle down defenses by taking out Orcs, potentially recruiting them to your side, and then ultimately making an assault to gain control of the region.
While the Nemesis System and army building mechanics are incredible, there is a lot of open world filler that can get to be somewhat boring after a while.
Most of the gameplay elements have been carried over from the original game. The Batman style beat-em-up combat feels like it was lifted entirely from Shadow of Mordor, with very little modification to it in terms of animation or function. The battles can be massive, having you take on upwards of 20 enemies at once. You’ll need to use all of the skills available to you, environmental hazards, and some well timed blocking. This aspect of the game wasn’t broken in Shadow of Mordor, and it’s not broken here
Middle Earth: Shadow of War is bigger and better than its predecessor in almost every conceivable way. If you don’t mind the repetition found in most open world games, there’s a robust strategy layer here that combines with a great combat system to offer hours and hours of Orc slaying, army building fun.

I've had Areka Warborn since like october 2018, he refuses to die, once he dies I'm gonna uninstall.
I would say the game is worth $50, but it goes on sale so often I would just recommend to wait if you're looking to buy it.
