Was developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. in September 2014.
Story
The story takes place in the Lord of the Rings universe. After being murdered with his family by an Uruk invasion, Talion sees himself banished from death, stuck with a spectral-like entity, that seems to have many secrets.
Everything happens by quests with golden icons in specific places. The same occur whenever the player wants. Even if something is happening where the quest takes place (a duel between Uruks, for example), by starting a story quest everything modifies itself to it. In my opinion, this take all immersion from what is happening. But definitely isn't here where Shadow of Mordor shines.
Gameplay
You can simply fight with enemy hordes alone, attacking and killing non-stop. Or you can kill many enemies with a silent approach. Shadow of Mordor has practically identical characteristics to Assassin's Creed, but with the excellent addition of the Nemesis system, that generate random names, looks, strengths and weakness for enemies, where the player can create rivalry with certain enemies that the game creates.
Characters
Most are generic and are really hard to care about. Most players will feel way more bond with Uruks than with characters from the main story.
///SPOILER///
There's almost no character development during the entire game. Torvin may be the only character the player may care about (and maybe not much).
Soundtrack
Acceptable. There's no soundtrack that is memorable, but all of them fill their roles.
Controversy
Nemesis System patent
Warner Bros. patented the Nemesis System, preventing other developers from using the idea or inspiring themselves on it. Reminder: this game uses a lot of systems from many other games.

Boy, it is so great! Put 40 hours in it in just 2 weeks and it still feel like it was just a breeze.
Graphics are still gorgeous in 2022 (with HD texture pack and ALL settings to max), music is good, but the ork lines are incredible - funny and fitting! Voices acting is great.
The gameplay loop is fantastic. Controls are smooth and responsive. Arkam style. Doesn't matter if you're using controller or keyboard. Melee combat is just solid. But what makes it unique is the ability to easily switch between melee, ranged and stealth combat. Still, parry is generally too powerful. The required reaction time is quite long. Combine this with the fact that there is no difficulty adjustment and enemies attack one at a time the game can become too easy for skilled players. If you're into Dark Souls you might be underwhelmed.
In 2022 you can play with keyboard on a 1440p monitor with constant 144fps or relax on your armchair with controller at locked 60fps on your 4k television at 2160p. This game is so well programmed, performance scales well. Framerate is constant, I encountered no bugs or crashes at all. And no drops in framerate even when 50+ orcs are chasing you.
Progress is very satisfiying. Skill tree is good: your skills are limited at the start, so you can learn, future skills are visible, so you can plan. Short skill previews show how to use them. Only downside is: you have more than enough points to learns all skills - no need to specialize and you reach all skills before the endgame.
No need to constantly loot enemies or clear the map of markers. The main items you pick up are runes from the bosses. These runes upgrade your 3 weapons (blade, dagger, bow) which never change - I like that. No need to compare weapons, you stick with what you have.
Learning curve is good. That's why you start loving to grind (not for some achievements or to make map symbols dissapear!). Still, there are moments in the late game where you need to tactically retreat or even alter the missions in order to get to your arch enemy (btw great that you can alter missions at all) There is no moment where you feel all too powerful but that is the result of the sheer amount of enemies that spawn and the lack of AOE attacks.
Still, this game accomplishes to make you feel weak due to its masses and taunting enemies and badass at the same time -due to its ridiculously gory finishing moves.
Choices to engage combat are multiple since it is all open world. Run storming in, then retreat for healing OR use the wonderful stealth elements to quietly clear areas OR slowly build your own army by persuading orks to your side OR even use the Nemesis system to engage battles when your allies that freely roam the open world are present.
2 big and quite different looking open areas . Some but not too many special items you can pick up for extra XP and Lotr lore, but you don't need to. You can do the cool and always good generic side missions instead. When you reach the endgame some them become too easy and repetative because you literally just need to watch. Well.
Main story? It strongly motivated me right from the start and then ceased to matter. But it fits the setting of you being the lone wolf in Mordor. Special npcs I remember? One comrade (Celebrimbor), one wannabe badass ork and a funny dwarf. Oh yes, and a special appearance from a well known lotr character. Enough for my taste. I could not care less that the main story is somewhat short or predictable. Or the cringe factor in the btw still good looking cutscenes where my charakter is constantly being an asshole. Doesn't matter! I make my own story with my personal vendettas with the orks using the intrigues with the awesome and so unique NEMESIS system!
9/10
I highly recommend this game to anyone liking melee games. The one point that stands out is the unique and nice NEMESIS system.

As someone who recently played it finish for the first time, you will have a much easier time with enemies mid-game once you get most of your abilities unlocked. One quick tip, keep collecting items to earn you more rewards and points to unlock. Slaying orcs will be pretty much a piece of cake for you. GOTY edition also gives you early access to really good runes so if you feel like having an easier time, go ahead and use them.

It's a very very OK game. Nothing that will blow you out of the water, but it's not bad by any means. The pros for me would be the story (obviously) because it's compelling, albeit slightly convoluted. I also appreciate the in-game lore. You can know nothing about LOTR lore and get on just fine in this game but if you're a lore buff, they do a nice job of placing little nuggets of info here and there. Granted, this game is not canon to the LOTR lore but it stands on its own well enough. And while it needs some tweaking, I do like the nemesis system. It adds character and depth to characters who would otherwise just be nameless, faceless cannon fodder.
The cons are few but lengthy. While developed by different development studios, some of the same individual developers worked on this game as well as Ryse: Son of Rome and the Arkham games which is apparent upon starting gameplay. The combat, while seamless and a step up from Ryse, still leaves a bit to be desired. I wouldn't say I disliked it but rather was indifferent to it. It could be improved but it wasn't bad. I also thought the playable area was a bit small, which I'm hoping was improved on in Shadow of War. It doesn't feel like you're exploring the great vastness of Mordor, it feels like you're exploring the corner of a corner of it. Lastly is the graphics. They were OK for the time but could've been better.
All in all I'd give Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor a 6/10. There's not really a ton of replayability but it's worth dumping 20+ hours into a playthrough.

- The nemesis system adds a nice element to the game play and its use allows you to control the scenario against the warchiefs if you don't want to rush in head on.
- The graphics holdup, the environments look good as well as the character animations, albeit it feels as if there is something missing in the overall look of it; its a bit too stark and barren.
- The story is okay, its a bit too light on immersion but the lore tidbits that you can pick up help that.
- The missions get very repetitive, you do end up doing the same ting over and over and the last two main missions do seem a bit rushed compared to the early main missions.
- The combat is responsive and quick; it should be it worked well in Batman Arkham Knight <<
Overall a good game and a solid 7.5/10 for me.

There are huge downsides though. Primarily, the combat can be really clunky in 2022, with Talion moving everywhere besides where you want him to go at times - he won't even target enemies right in front of him. Secondly, it's a bit grindy, and not a good way. The Nemesis system focuses on raising orcs to their highest point so they can fight for you; the issue? Well, finding the right orc, dominating it, becomes a chore after a point, especially if you have done it a few times around. I also thought the game was a bit too slow to begin with, where it felt more button-mashy until you get the dominating ability and actually even fight more interesting enemies. And sadly, one of the most disappointing things about this game is that I barely remember it. Like, I enjoyed it when I was playing through this game when I did, specially when surprising things happened, but I barely recall going through any of it, and to me that kind of disappointing aspect.
Overall, even if I recommend it, I suggest picking up Shadow of War instead. Both games are great, Shadow of War is a tad bit too much for my taste, while Shadow of Mordor is something I will remember more so because of how compact it is.

The progression in the game is very well executed and upgrades are satisfying and balanced. I love the fact that the characters you fight remember you from previous encounters and even refer to the wounds that you inflicted upon them, and you can see their scars from previous battles.
The combat reminds me of the classic Batman games and is extremely intuitive and once again, satisfying. Branding various enemies means they are under your control and you can build up large amounts of followers who will fight with you, which is both fun and addictive.

- Combat system: is nice, During my entire journey I didn't get tired of fighting at all.
- Story: Average but I did enjoy following it none the less. I could relate to the main character most of the time.
Cons:
- Some quests are repetitive, especially the 20 slave quest if you are up for the achievement.
- Very short game. If you don't aim for achievements and full side stories you can blast it in a matter of hours.
Those are the big ones, I do recommend the game as it is cheap these days and enjoyable.

Controls are very responsive and precise which provide a positive experience.
Gameplay mechanics are well thought of, however there are quite a lot of enemies and grinding involved.
Sometimes you are simply overwhelmed by enemies that never end and you need to counter or dodge most of the time, since you get attacked constantly and some have shields / are immune to different attacks.
Overall I recommend the game, though due all this grinding and high number of enemies I would not blame players that would lose patience or get bored.

Also a big fan of Action-Adventure genre since my childhood.
Thats the two main reasons i have enjoyed this game so much.
Shadow of Mordor is an excellent action RPG game.
It is basically a combination of the Batman games (fighting mechanics, combo mechanics),
Assassin's Creed games (stealth mechanics, climbing mechanics), and Lord of the Rings all in one.
Gameplay is kinda repetitive but also very fun by the same time.
Mixer of Talion's awesome combat skill and Celebrimbor's supernatural power has made this game so enjoyable.
Graphics and Soundtrack is very good and very authentic to LOTR lore!!!
Story is also good.
Nemesis System is freaking amazing in this game though this thing is just a glimpse not a real deal like Shadow of War!!!
Developer Monolith Productions really did a surprisingly good job, never expected that i actually get to play a true Lord of The Rings game.(which was my strong desire since i have seen the original LOTR trilogy)
I highly recommend this game for every LOTR fans and also Action-Adventure lovers, give this game a shot and i hope you won't regret it!
Finally i will give this game a solid 9/10.

The game tbh pretty much might be liked by everyone, there's a lot of action in it, and you don't need to be a pro player to complete it (unless you're going for 100% achievements like me, then it takes a bit of tryharding and losing nerves :D).

I died to this random archer orc early on and he got promoted, later on in the middle of hunting another captain he poisons me and kills me again and becomes a captain himself, and now he has resistances to the ways i tried killing him before so i had to make sure he was dead. In the end i managed to have pretty much a boss battle with this dude and slay him and this in turn gave me a crazy good ability mod, and this was all non scripted.
I usually don't like open world games very much, but since I like the Arkham games and this game's combat system was similar i gave it a shot, but this nemesis system really kept me way more engaged in it that i initially thought it would. The cool thing is the orc that kept killing me kept getting new titles to his name from Tugog, to Tugog the archer, all the way up to Tugog the legend, and as he kept getting stronger, he gained more gear and got more resistances to my attacks and visibly looked more roided up and battle worn, but while still being recognisable at a glance. Since i failed to kill him the first time via sniping him with a bow, he eventually became resistant to ranged attacks. This was one of few encounters, and each victory or defeat changes up the pecking order of the orcs considerably, for example me finally killing Tugog raised the rank of another guy who had a feud going on with him.
I don't really need to worry about markers in this game since the stories happen naturally as i keep wandering and killing captains. the only time i even open up the map is to know the general area of my target or main story mission markers, plus the grunts in the army tend to talk shit about their captains and that leads me to them outta just paying attention to what they're saying.
Though this is early on and i feel that the game might end up being a bit grindy/repetitive in the long run, if so i'll just do the story stuff i guess unless its necessary to do side content to upgrade abilities and the like.
Maybe its not completely my kinda game, but i'll stick with it since its Tolkien and i'd like to see the nemesis system implemented in other games since its actually pretty engaging and innovative.

This is the first major title I tried since my return 2 weeks ago. Reason I picked this game because from 2020/12/31 the online leader-board server is coming down and 3 of the achievements cannot be unlocked after that. Thanks to my friend RVK I am informed and really enjoy this game.
This game focus on the last ranger captain of Black Gate before the Dark Lord took over Mordor. He had his family killed before his very eyes before he was killed also. Lucky or Unlucky for him one of the eternal enemy of the dark-lord, Last Mordor's elf king and master ring smith that made Rings of power was there. That Elf Wraith seeks only vengeance against dark lord and together with ranger captain they became being that's a shadow of living and death.
Thus u cannot really die in this game and each time u lose you will start back at one of the white wraith tower again. In this action RPG environment you have to do many Main missions and side missions to gain control of the land and raise an army to battle against the dark-lord.
Certainly is a interesting game and kinda remind me Viking battle of Asgard. Which you eventually fighting in battle that became army versus army. Graphics is still very nice and game engine performed very smoothly. There are quite a bit of Beheading and brutal kill in this game. Story wise it's smooth but really lacking quite a bit. Music and combat sound is nice and difficulty is not too hard. Cut Scene and Animation is very nice and enjoyable but it's all kinda short of AAA title.
Only 8.5/10 for this title and i deduct point for story being too simple and the shortness of the game. Even through this game have a bunch of dlc and side story it's still feel quite a bit lacking. Consider I finished everything in only a few days except certain achievement that will keep me trying for a while after I write this review.

The story itself is strong enough, with some nice fan service (you will even find Gollum in it), but definitely one of the best features the game has is the Nemesis system, which is extremely good. Maybe at first you’ll think it’s nothing really special, but trust me, it is! and it works very well, the way orcs can remember the encounters you have and how they talk to you when they meet you again is really effective and credible and it’s going to arouse your emotions, especially when they kill you and grow in power because of that.
You can get your revenge and also avenge people in your friend list if you want. Eventually you will have your own story of vengeance and confrontation.
The orcs have their own ranks of influence and power which are always changing not only based on your own actions, but on their own and oh boy! they are selfish and ambitious and will do everything, even betray their own, to gain more power.
The Nemesis System is actually so good that I hope they implement more things like that in other games, it makes the game feel alive.
As you play you will gather information about your enemies so you can always have the advantage (if you want) of knowing which their weaknesses are and even turn them against each other and have a lot of fun with your powers as they increase.
There are other activities which are not part of the main quests and they can also be fun and challenging.
Killing so many orcs can become a bit repetitive at some points, but you won’t get bored easily, the combat system is fun and intuitive and there are a lot of options to engage and kill your enemies, I’m sure you will find some very creative ways to get the job done. If you like the stealthy approach or the kick the door and kill them all style both are gonna work in different situations.
You earn ability points that can be assigned the way you want and get runes that can be applied to your weapons to customize your gameplay even more.
The graphics are really good and well optimized for PC specially with the HD textures (By the way, you don’t actually need the 6gb vram to run them, but the more you have, the better - obviously).
Finally, I would recommend to play with a gamepad, it’s amazing!, the keyboard and mouse combo works , but it is just not as intuitive nor as comfortable.
At the end Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a great game with a AAA production value, a precious one!

PROS:
- great story about the realms of Middle-earth some time after the fall of the Dark Lord
- amazing voice acting
- looks beautiful for a game this old
- lots of stuff to collect to immerse into the universe even further, like pieces of Celebrimbor's poem, or personal belongings of some characters that give more information about them
CONS:
- somewhat glitchy controls which make you are unable to climb a wall which you're perfectly able to climb at a most unsuitable moment (no, i DID NOT intend to die from your hand, Grisha the ugly)
- stupid decision to make it impossible to restart a challenge you've failed (and this happens a lot to me on some of them) and you have to run back to the place where the mission starts, and this can be quite far away. Really annoying

This game is amazing. It isn't canon to Tolkien's series, but I believe that doesn't matter. What matters is the gameplay, the graphics, and the world which captures the essence of Middle Earth.
If you also have the least bit of interest in the Lord of the Rings like I do, chances are you will like it too. If you don't have any interest in this game, I would still recommend you playing it.

I really liked the nemesis system even tho at some times it felt annoying especially when you keep dying the npcs in the army can get way stronger than you. This was a problem i faced when i played it first, didn't have this problem now.
The story isn't something worth writing home to your parents, but it's enjoyable for a slow day to relax. Characters are meh, nothing memorable, skill tree is there - you have some choices, the weapon runes are cool. Way too many world activities just for the sake of just putting more hours onto the game time.
Definitely worth buying for the nemesis system alone, but get it on a deep sale. It's an old game and you can see it in game design and graphics.

+ Good graphics that lives up to the expectation that was set around the release time.
+ Story focused gameplay. Although story is not the best, It adds value to your gameplay and keeps you focused on your goals
+ Lore friendly (mostly) characters, items and creatures that are a absolute treat to watch. If you are a avid lover of the LOTR books, This game lets you play in that world.
+ Surprisingly good gameplay mechanics, It is very fluid and will help you be more confident in your engagements.
+ Lots of skills and perks that will help you define your playstyle and focus on a gameplay that would suit your preference.
+ Good AI that will maintain the challenge and one that will obliterate you given you make stupid decisions in your engagement.
+ Stealth mechanics in this game are pretty good and for a avid stealth player like myself, It was a treat to play in that style.
+ It makes you feel like a hero. With your constant engagements and how you go about your fights. The game makes you feel smart and stronger with right engagements.
+ Advanced enemy system called Nemesis. Every action against enemies in game will be recorded and they will adapt and attune to your playstyle. Never two engagements are the same.
+ No difficulty system, You can make the game easier or harder based on the decisions you make on how you go about your engagements.
Negatives
- Story can get a bit cliche at times. Good thing its not the case always, But most times its not good and is not very engaging in the long run.
- Game can get a bit repetitive at times, But it is upto you. Most times, There a single most effective way to take on a mission. If you continue playing the same more powerful playstyle, It can get a boring at times. Variety is the key here.
- The combat can be very good when you are stealthy and tactical, The moment you get detected, It is nothing but spamming 3 keys. It can get a bit dull at times.
- There is not much explanation at the start, The gamer relies on you knowing the backstory of the game. Not everyone will have read the books or movies and the game just does not consider it. You will be very confused in that case.
- Awful keyboard controls, They made a good control scheme for controller and never considered about PC players. I managed to change it to my playstyle, But they should have considered it from the get go.
- The game can get mindless and monotonous at times, It just does not give you that engagement to keep going. In those cases, You are forced to take a break from the game.
- Awful cliche DLCs I wish I had never played. I had to play them only for the achievements.
- No good way to tweak elements of gameplay for your preference. No FOV slider, I had to use Cheat Engine fix to make the game change its FOV to my liking.
- Stupid Caragors everywhere.
Overall
I had so much fun playing the game. Although sometimes the story is not good and can get boring, The gameplay was so much fun, Killing endless orcs using strategies expoiting their weaknesses set by the Nemesis system was enojyable. Using varied perks and skills to take on missions was fun and rewarding. The open world playstyle was enjoyable, Listening to orcs speak ,Finding lots of collectibles that are lore friendly were so much fun. I would definitely recommend this game.

Pretty good combat, runes can make you super overpowered. Get ready to see a ~10 second rant every time you come across a Captain or Warchief, even in the middle of combat. You can skip all the FMV cutscenes but nothing in engine, so the Wild DLC is pretty annoying (lots of walking and talking with Torvin(?)), as are the aforementioned nemesis rants. Test of the Wild and Test of The Ring are pretty bullshit with their random enemies but with enough tries they're doable. Lots of nemeses are Ranged Invulnerable and Stealth Invulnerable so also be ready to Stun -> Flurry -> Ground Execute -> Combat Execute x2 for most, and if they're also Combat Masters then find a Graug and eat them.

Finished main story and few of the side quests to gain more power. The WB account and its verification issue remains so I am not sure if I will be able to play the next game with the Nemesis Forge but hope I can.
Main story is short despite the size of the game, It took me about 10-11 hours to finish the main story and maybe 3-4 hours for the few side quests and sight seeing/free roaming. There are few bugs in the dlcs but I would say its ok compared to the good story. Just don't die or you will regret it haha. I died for like 3-4 times total maybe but thats it but because I already conquered most of the warcheif and captains my death worked in my favor. Well I would say very good gameplay and fighting mechanics, kinda reminds me of Assassins Creed + Batman with a sword. Well thanks for reading and stay safe.

- Very good graphics.
- Good story with help from the fantastic Lord of the Rings Lore.
- The combat is awesome (Mix of batman and assassins creed games).
- The enemy AI is awesome with the Nemesis system, it provided different encounters through the game to keep it interesting and so much more.
- It has achievements and trading cards to keep the player even more motivated.
- Multiple tactics and strategy to deal with problems.
- I am sure there is more but I can´t remember right now.
CONS:
- I understand the ideia of killing everybody and more reinforcements come, but it shouldn´t be infinite reinforcements, because sometimes your doing a mission that you HAVE to make a mess, and because of infinite enemies your branded captains that are near you end up getting killed (basically there is no way to save them, you would be there forever killing uruks and they would keep coming out of nowhere. (Maybe a retreat command would fix this).
- I also got the feeling my branded uruks are much more weak than the enemy uruks but I am not sure.
- Lack of customization in weaponry and clothes.
Overhaul the game is awesome, if you like Assassins Creed climbing and fighting or Batman fighting and the Lord of the Rings world and lore this is for you! It´s basically this. It is really worth it, I have had so much fun that I completed it 100% in campaign, and used a lot of time just for killing for no reason. You will get at least 20 hours of gameplay not completing 100% like me. Buy it!

Fear the Bright Master ! My Precious ! ...**Cough**
Man this game is action packed ! I have to say this game though at the start is like Dying Light ,you start out sucking but over time and as you lvl up and spend points you get better and can last longer and do more neat stuff. The games gfx are pretty darn good all cranked up and at 1080p and run slick as snot even on my Dino of a comp. So I'm sure if you have a beefy system this game will look and run amazingly well with zero issues. The combat is kind of like Batman (Both WB games so ...DUH lol ) style but with a sword ,dagger and bow lol
The Nemesis Forge keeps the Orc playing field moving and always changing when you beat someone of importance depending on rank or if you lose the battle then it plays out and they move a head in the ranks to gain power , so they lvl up as well and some will fight one another for leadership or a higher rank. I also love that there are Vengeance missions and other missions to unlock more stuff or abilities as well. So there is always something to do or attack.
The story or lore in the game fits pretty well to coincide with the LOTR Movies. Also the music is well done as well.
Truth I'm not 100% finished with this one and yeah some of the missions can be kind of repetitive but its done so well you don't seem to mind big-time when you lvl up and add some good weapon runes and skills and abilities. So I give this one 9-10 stars ! A must play and own game ! Now I need to get the second one lol
So sound the Horn of Gondor and add this to your cart or your collection and join the adventure !

Brutal and impressive
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a game in which we play the role of Talion, the guardian of Gondor,
who was killed but returned from the afterlife and faces a horde of enemies together with the spirit of an elven.
The whole story is about fighting good against evil and
trying to find the reason why our hero was resurrected.
Story missions usually involve the same thing, such as killing an enemy or locating them. Nevertheless, they are not boring and despite their repetitiveness they are good. In addition, we have side missions, which definitely add variety to the gameplay. The creators on the map have prepared a lot of attractions for us, so we should not get bored. We can see a lot of borrowings from other games like forges to which we can teleport ourselves if we unlock them.
To fight we will use a sword, bow and dagger, and in later stages of the game also blades to throw. Moreover, we can improve our weapons with runes, thanks to which they are stronger in battle and give us new possibilities. The fights are spectacular and pleasant, they look very similar to those of the Assasins creed series, but I think it's not a problem. To this we added elements of parkour and sneaking, which allows more options to kill your opponent.
We should mention the Nemesis mode, thanks to which orc leaders change dynamically and we can interfere in clashes between leaders and set up the world of Mordor as we want. In addition, after defeating the boss, when we don't manage to kill him or run away, a scar will appear on his face, as we will learn from the dialogues. In addition, there is an opportunity to interrogate the captains of the orcs, who will reveal to us the location of their leader and thanks to this it is easier to find and kill him.
Summary
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a game that, despite being similar to other productions, introduces a new and interesting mode of Nemesis and thus diversifies the gameplay. It's a very good game, I would say one of my favorite games I played. The only thing that may not like it is the missions, which are repetitive, but still made me enjoy the game for almost 30 hours. I recommend playing this game, especially since the price is currently ridiculously low.
✔️Soundtrack
✔️Very good combat system
✔️The Nemesis System
✔️Excellent optimization
✔️Interesting storyline
❌Repetitive missions
❌Maybe a little bit of a small game map

I don't have much to say except for the breath-taking level design, amazing character and NPC models, user-friendly UI and engaging story line. The game is filled with quests and a continuous story that doesn't fail. Of course, if you ever need a break from the main story you can always complete one of the hundreds side quests Shadow of Mordor offers whilst also improving your character. There is always something to do in the game and I love the fact that you have complete freedom over what you do.
If there is one thing I disliked was the ending battle. Warning! Spoilers ahead:
The fact that the entire scene is played out in a beautiful cut-scene-y manner is very likable, yet it can work as an immersion-breaker. I was expecting a much greater challenge to be frank but I was able to eliminate The Hand of Sauron rather quickly, which if you ask me, wasn't the greatest ending.
Of course, when you finish the game there's still things to do as you have the chance to explore a second world filled with side quests.
Last but most certainly not least, I would like to address the gameplay mechanics. As a gamer I have had my fair share of 3rd person games, whether that's shooter or not, I can always appreciate good controls and camera movements. That's exactly what Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor offers. The camera movement is seamless and controlling the character is not difficult at all (unlike some other games I have played in the past). Focusing on enemies, aiming with your bow and much more can be done without any unnecessary frustration.
Overall, I highly recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a fresh new adventure. Mostly to people who have played The Tomb Raider, Uncharted or games of the like. Of course, if you are a Tolkien fan you will also appreciate the game (even though it doesn't follow the same story line as Tolkien's books).

It's Lord of the Rings fanfiction (that only superficially understands Tolkien's work) draped over an Assassins Creed game set in Mordor, with an interesting Nemesis system which I'm sure you've already read far too much about. Suffice it to say that the Nemesis system produces engaging and unpredictable gameplay at the expense of ever having a memorable or noteworthy villain.
Overall Shadow of Mordor is fine. Just fine. It is what it is: an overproduced AAA stealth/combat game wearing the ill-fitting skin of a beloved fantasy property. Tolkien purists may be offended by the (often banal) liberties taken with the source material. If you can see beyond that, you'll find a very solid game that will do very little to surprise you.
Note: also played on Sony Playstation 4.
