VERY impressed with the tactical design. I put more than 2,000 hours into XCom 2 and I expect to spend as much here. The card system creates endless opportunities for the battles to play differently each time you play.

First off the game runs pretty well on my i5-7400 @ 3Ghz, with 16GB RAM,running a SSD and GeForce GTX 1060 3GB. Some mild studdering during cut scenes but otherwise during game play it runs fine, however at low settings. That said it still looks great. I haven't tried it on my Deck yet. I think the Deck will handle it in low mode as well however.
Game play wise it is what I was hoping it will be. Personally as much as I love the XCOM franchise I always was one of those that hated the horrible RNG hit/miss rates. I am so glad that the team went for the Card mechanics over RNG mechanics. It makes so much more sense in a superhero game. You can really use a lot of strategy, even in the first few battles it comes quickly clear just how back your choices can help or hurt you. Synergies matter and can make a huge difference.
The Abbey is interesting. I know some people will miss the base building of the XCOM series but I like the Abbey and walking around and talking to each hero is a blast. Not only that but only an hour in and I have heard some great background banter that has had me stop just to listen for the fun of it.
The characters each have great abilities, of course some do feel naturally stronger, which of course makes sense. Balance really wouldn't make a true comic hero game in my opinion. The enemies are fairly easy at least at the level I have got to in my short time of playing, however there are constant reinforcements that can catch you off guard and overwhelm you if you are not careful, plus there is usually a few tougher, non-minion level characters in each fighter that will present a danger if you don't take them out fast enough.
I am glad to see that there is plenty of opportunities for environmental damages in the game. There isn't an overwatch, however there are various buffs that can help protect allies from attacks after your turn is up, and I haven't begun to unlock all the characters so there may well be overwatch type skill cards that I just have yet to see.
All in all this game is 100% what I was hoping for. Fair graphics, no real bugs to speak of, great story and pretty good voice work, fits right along with a marvel story plotline, and has great over all tactics. I give it a 9.5/10 so far.
As I am very early into the game I will come back a few hours later and update again once I get more time with the game under my belt.

I sure as heck don't have over 60 hours in this game because it's bad. Even if you've got Marvel fatigue, give this game a shot - you can do the bare minimum of the social interaction stuff and just play a super well put together Tactical RPG that is perfect to play in bite-sized chunks (even though I found myself playing for hours at a time). Once you get past the first introductory pieces and get a couple of upgrades (like being able to shove enemies into your allies for extra damage!) your combat options really start to open up and there's a great variety of mission types. Once you get far enough in, you can also do single character challenges that really push your deck building chops so you have the right move-set for the situation.
And speaking of the deck building, sometimes I feel really daunted in these games where you have to build a huge deck of moves, but this game keeps it super tight. At first I felt like only taking 8 cards into a mission would feel restrictive, but it's enough to really make you think about the composition of the character move sets without ever getting so overwhelmed that you just say screw it and throw the defaults in. You can also come up with some really good synergies. Dr. Strange is the surprise MVP though, don't sleep on him.
As I kept playing I was able to look past the slightly suspect character models in the social layer (everything looks really great in the combat part of the game) and start to really warm up to this aspect of the game - your mileage may vary depending on your tolerance for quippy dialogue but the deeper you get into the game, the deeper the conversations, and I've found myself enjoying that side of it more and more. The main plot is pulpy and fun, but until you've sat on the couch and played video games with Spider-man while he thinks up names for what your super-hero team up name would be, you're not getting the whole experience. Also if you don't like a character, alienate them super hard in your dialogue choices for extra laughs.
It's not perfect by any means but the game's genuinely pretty good and I've had trouble putting it down some evenings. The reviews you may have read are more or less on point - you may or may not like the Abbey parts but the meat and potatoes of the tactical gameplay is superb, and you can just pretty much run fun side missions to your heart's content.
