Lust from Beyond: Scarlet is a stand-alone, free introduction to the full version of "Lust from Beyond" - a horror game with elements of eroticism and occultism. This is not a demo version - you won't experience any spoilers here. The presented story is unique to this title. "LFB: Scarlet" is the second introduction to the Lust from Beyond. The goal of this title is to present topics and mechanics not mentioned in "LFB: Prologue". This time we will focus more on survival, gore and sexual elements. Moreover, we will present a new faction - Scarlet Lodge.

Alan's mind is possessed by a hardly satisfiable sexual drive. To control his emotions, Alan meets with a psychiatrist who is supposed to solve his problems. Definitely, Movie Games Lunarium have still A LOT to work on.

Back to Lust for Darkness, it was a game with quite some problems in the mechanics, yet it was fun to play, especially as a fan of Giger and Lovecraft works, it was amazing to get immersed walking by scenarios inspired by their works. However, the ending was quite disappointing and when I first heard about Lust from Beyond, I only gave it attention for the scenarios honestly, I wouldn't expect much from the story nor game-play once again. Albeit, the Prologue ended up being a nice experience that gave me some hope for the full game.

Quite differently from this one, that delivers the complete opposite. Lust from Beyond: Scarlet brings the player to setting that attempts to be somewhat more modern, which ends up failing BADLY, as it loses all its essence by mixing so many genres and styles, with characters so erroneous and blunt.

Now it feels like the Giger/Lovecraft vibes met Twin Peaks and its Red Lodge in a Japanese Tentacle Erotica way, then you get a puzzle that resembles the Lament Configuration from Hellraiser and have to run in a weird forest-like Pan's Labyrinth, not to mention all the free and meaningless scatology and the not-scary-at-all mannequins cliché.
At least the sex scene is nicer on this one.

One positive point imo though, was the reddish environments. I've read that some players felt a little sickness when walking in the theater and I can totally understand why, however to me it was a nice design aesthetics.

By its ending, it feels like it was just an excuse to give players a glimpse with their new sex scene, along with more free provocative imagery, really, just by the sake of it. And here you can do a bit more than just walk around, solve puzzles and run away from penises plants and bugged monsters, but the mechanics for using a knife needs a lot of improvement, just like stealth mode that is practically non-existent.

Pretty forgettable, this one leaves little expectations for the upcoming full game.

It has potential to be good and feels like an improvement over the original.

In my original Lust for Darkness review I said that while I really enjoyed the game for it's lovecraftian themes and tone it sadly suffered a lot from what a game like Agony suffered from and I still stand by that. I also said that I was hopeful for the other games being an improvement and still keeping the cool concept and themes I enjoyed but making the gameplay a little more exciting and yeah Lust From Beyond does improve the gameplay a little like I was hoping it would and I am excited to see how the full release will be like to play. I am glad to see that Lust From beyond improves the visuals but also provides a little more variety when it comes to gameplay even while most of your time playing the demo is still walking but there does seem to be a heavier focus on stealth and you also have a knife now for self defense so hopefully they will do something really cool with that. Lusst'ghaa was pretty nice and cool in the original game and I hope they can do some more with that dimension here and maybe explore it a little further, give us more time to explore Lusst'ghaa at our own pace and hopefully improve the levels and provide us more fun puzzles as the story progresses.

50 minutes walking in the ppitch dark while nothing happens is not my game l am afraid. There are a couple of foggy puzzles in it but they become faint during the dumb walking with no clues for them and no keys for several boxes. I don't recommend the game.

First person stealth-ish puzzle game that is Hellraiser meets Call of Cthulhu with a lot of HR Giger art and sexual imagery than can be grotesque and perverse.

The voice acting is so so,
the puzzles have required some thought,
the scenery is creative but recognizable in its inspiration,
and the horror ranges from jump scares to philosophical.

Good if you like these sort of things, but avoid if you don't.

1. Graphics 9/10 (Excellent graphics with promising storytelling. A game that has artistic influences from Lovecraft and Giger, mainly. Unknown passages, creatures from other dimensions, perversion, eroticism. Some puzzles in the game, while a dense mist of mystery envelops the places, enemies and characters. The feeling that offers this game for adults, is being immersed into the unknown pleasure. Voluptuousness calls from the dark corners of the unspeakable.)

2. Playability 9/10 (The controls are simple. The character is agile and vigorous. The game is in first person. I think that there is no problem. [spoiler]You’ll be able to enjoy the inhospitable landscapes and pervents of the lovecraftian sect of Lusst'ghaaa[/spoiler].)

3. Music and FX 8/10 (The soundtrack is the weak point of the game. More effort is required in performing the ambient music for the game. You can hear the soundtrack with horror music influences. In the classical music aspect, melodies and harmonies are required according to eroticism and not only the presence of darkness. Of course, the game is a project that is still in the making. Thus, the suites within the game should be heard more shocking, more erotic force and darkness. [spoiler]Not just be dark ambient horror[/spoiler].)

4. Duration 9/10 (Short, with puzzles and lots of notes. A rich and promising story that is being developed with supposed care. The game can invoke the aesthetic style of Amnesia or Call of Cthulhu. The game needs an opportunity to meet it and enter the world of the mystery of Lusst'ghaa.)

I will give it a 50%.
Yes, there are lots of showcase/exhibit of sex. But the most frightening bit of the game was getting chased/spotted by an alien (^_^i). The alien area looks creepy and slimy enough. I guess, the idea of pacing out the erotic scenes into parts motivates(?) the player to do the mission to move on tho the next scene. I feel that the game has a haunted house feel and afterwards has a sex exhibition/museum feel. Attractive? Yes. The item-hunting task is interesting, please keep that element in further games. It's kind of sad that the main character still die the end.

Downside-
I have set the graphics quality to the lowest, to have a smooth motion in game. But still appears to be pretty laggy (especially when there are 2 characters present in the area). When I first opened the game, it took 5 minutes-ish to get to the main screen, then about 3 minutes for changing scenes.
Secondly, I think a Quick Select button should be added in, so that the player can pre-select an item(eg.HP recovery) during combat, especially when the player is pronounced dead in two hits.

Well, well, here i am again.

I liked LFD a lot. When i played the prologue, i knew they were going in the same direction, and it was good.
Now that i finished Scarlet, definetely the game is going to have bigger proportions, doing a step from the 'walking simulator' horror genre to a semi-action game.

About graphics, while i *can* run it in 4K, i prefer to play in 2k for extra smoothness, and the game only stuttered a few times, probably when loading the map. And it is very hot here right now, so no need to melt the hardware.
Ahem, what i mean is that the game runs very nice here, and the graphics are what we already knew from the past games: very cinematic, very beautiful. Again, kudos for the artists. I don't mind perfect characters and ultra-realistic textures everywhere. The game feels nice, looks nice and has an amazing setting.

As for gameplay, less stuff to pick up (i REALLY missed it), and more action. While you still can run and hide from enemies, you now also have a chance to fight. That'll be interesting... I just hope they don't add traditional bosses that must be killed to progress... This is a big turn down for games like this...
Puzzles, check. Picking up stuff to progress, check. I like the flow of the gameplay in this one, and i like that you can turn off head bobbing and motion blur. I didn't disable them and my eyes now are tired.

The story is unfolding, too, and in a good way.

Voice acting and sounds improved a lot.

Can't say much about it. It is following the path Lust for Darkness opened, so i like it and i recommend it for anyone who liked the first game.

Of course, it is also getting more intense. If you don't like nudity, gore, torture or are sensible to these themes, don't even try. The game won't hide anything and the player will see/take part in these things (well, pixelating some textures won't really make a difference, because the game doesn't focus on the visual appeal).

This was delayed several days because it had some photographs of real people. Fans? They are now edited, though.

And you can't close drawers with your belly anymore. I'm sad.

I am experiencing some weird microstuttering, getting a stable 120 fps but as soon as the character moves it looks like it's running in 30fps. really annoying!

This should have been called Hellraiser Lite, or How I Learned to Date Pinhead.

Overall I liked the puzzles this game had. The Giger inspired artwork was also nice.

Where this game fell short was.... well most everything else. The combat is atrocious, to swing your knife you must hold down RMB and then click LMB and the aiming isn't the best. The weird orgy scenes didn't feel sexy or lustful and just felt like they were in the game simply to be edgy and potentially get people to play the game just for the sex scenes. Speaking of the sex scenes, I thought they were kinda boring.

I'd recommend the game just for the puzzles and Giger like artwork.. and the fact it's free, if nothing else.

Well, this is certainly something. It's disturbing and exploitative, but incredibly atmospheric and just generally well done. It would be incredible in VR and almost feels like it's built with that in mind.

Not sure what a full game would be like, this as a free 1 hour experience this is worth playing and leaves an impression.

Lust from Beyond is a perfect match between good horror game and a more intelligent erotic game compared to what Steam has to offer in general when it comes to the adult section.

Even if you play as a male character in these games I would still say that this is entertaining to play no matter what sex you are or orientation. But you probably need to love the dark side of life in order to really appreciate this game to the fullest.

Just the fact that they produce FREE standalone teasers for us to play!!
Agony, Lust for Darkness.. They're are all great games and for me they just keep getting better and better and how you play changes for the better.
I can't wait for more releases!

Love when a game goes full horny mode, I have always thought the mix of sex, erotica and horror would make a good horror game. Home the full thing is as good or even better then this.

I came in for the titties and ass but stayed for the cool little story and what it had to offer. Honestly this game isn't bad by any means, sure some of the puzzles require you to be a five-head which I am not, thanks internet for the answers. Overall it's a solid, dumb-fun game that'll eat up 2 to max 4 hours of your time if you aren't going at a snails pace. If you want a short little spooky/lewd game then this is one for you. I myself like the potential the game could have and hope the full game isn't bad.

So, to those unfamiliar what this is about.

This is a first person horror/adventure game, its a preview game of an upcoming title - Lust from Beyond. You go around exploring a freaky setting thats lovecraftian, but has erotica/porn elements. The first game this studio made was Lust for Darkness and this plays pretty similarly, but with some improvements. You go around following a story arc and taking in as much of your surroundings as you can. You read notes, interact with certain objects (mostly for solving puzzles, some of which were quite nice, others ..... could have been better), listen in on conversations and see where this all leads. There is also some stealth and possible combat, but again, dont expect much, because its not about that.
It runs on the unity engine, so the graphics are fine, thought everything looked nice, but nothing will blow your mind. The voice/sound is was quite decent as well. The main selling point here is the setting and the journey it takes you on. If you can suspend disbelief and get into a narrative without being overly demanding, Im sure you can find this quite entertaining. I thought this was quite interesting and am looking forward to the main game.

A well made first person adventure game in the style of Condemned and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
You play as a sex addict going to his latest tryst when he is kidnapped by a deranged cult hell bent on reaching a dark realy of excess known as Lusst'ghana (I hope I wrote that correctly).
The graphics are nice, models are well animated and made, gameplay is Amnesia/Call of Cthulhu with a bit of stealth combat towards the end.
The blend of horror and erotica is done rather well with both sides complimenting each other. It's Lovecraft meets Clive Barker with a tint of Giger aesthetics.

Looking forward to the full game.

I've got headache by playing this game it's not meant for everyone , i say stay away from it
one thing that want to say about lovecraft...loveCraft didn't wrote the Necronomicon (the book of dead) the author is unknown his stories are inspired by that book,but the rumors says this grimoire came from middle east...some crazy man who knows how to contact the unseen ones wrote it down.
these creatures are mentioned frequently in magical works throughout the different religions, to be summoned and bound to a sorcerer

Around a year ago Lust from Beyond: Prologue was released which gave us an insight into what Lust From Beyond will be once it's released. I praised that it was a free title (also a great way of marketing your upcoming game) with an interesting story but I never would have thought another stand-alone episode would be released.

And here we are with Scarlet. A new protagonist, a new location and a new faction but everything else is similarly pervert, sick and, ultimately, otherwordly. Our hero is someone who desires sex and is easily lured by a group of people worshipping the same dimension called Lusst'ghaa. As we are trapped we are tasked with completing some trials and eventually we get the chance to escape.

The game ups the ante by employing more difficult puzzles, a sanity meter to watch out for beside our health (the creators must be fans of Amnesia), a weapon to use and the scenes with intercourse require more involvement this time on our part. We have references to Darkness as well as to Prologue so it is really a nice addition to the franchise while the developres are finishing up with Beyond.

I can't in good conscience give this demo a negative review, but I can't recommend it either. It's 100% meh as far as I'm concerned. The setting is interesting, but the execution misses the mark in a few key places for me. First of all the voice acting sounds too casual and is used way too much. So much droning on, the game would be improved it it was cut in half. Or communicate more of the same through notes/text, the voice acting did not improve the experience imo.

The visuals were nice enough, with good artistic direction. The sex scenes (2 of them) were rather wasted imo, and the playable character lasted all of 5 seconds lol. Was definitely hoping for more game in here, otherwise you can just watch a playthrough online and get the same experience. If this is representative of the full game, then it will have severe pacing issues and lack of payoff. Time will tell, but so far it's been an unsatisfying experience.
