(in deutsch)

Lost Horizon 2
2/2 - Point & Click from 2015.
When the British Army Fenton Paddock's scout found out about the kidnapping of his daughter Gwen during an operation on the Suez Canal, he and Nazi hunter Anna embarked on a dangerous liberation campaign far behind the Iron Curtain.
In the end, he not only has to prevent the Cold War from becoming hotter, he also faces the choice of sacrificing his own life for that of his daughter. (Editor)
This classic point-and-click adventure mixes real locations and conditions with a good dash of imagination wrapped up in events that have actually taken place. Really well done, with a very good story. Many hours of fun await you. If you ever need help, have a look there. (in German)
https://www.adventurespiele.net/9891/LostHorizon2.pdf
For those who do not use German, there are plenty of help offers for all games of this series on the web.
After 5 years the second part is finally coming. It is clear to see that the developers have made an effort to deliver a good game again.
A pretty good Stoy packed with equally good puzzles that you can experience in the form of an adventure. The level of difficulty is consistently demanding. The gameplay is very well done.
What I find very good is that you can solve the story consistently by thinking and despite the rather high level of difficulty you can solve it without help and thus achieve a smooth game.
Clear recommendation from me and also suitable for beginners.

I did fine up till the last chapter, there were some 'puzzles' that I had to need to use a walkthrough, one with what to do with the pole, then there was the raven 'puzzle' and lastly, the stone movement puzzle. And that made it annoying, especially the raven and stone 'puzzles'.
Also one other 'quicktime' event part was annoying that the 'manual' was only shown AFTER you fail the first time, they should have done it beforehand so I knew what to actually do.
All in all, I liked the story. But it could have been worked out a bit better.
These days you can get Lost Horizon 2 for a few bucks or part of a larger (still cheap) bundle. It's on sale a lot of times here on Steam or on GOG.

+ gorgeous looking, colorful and detailed 3 D background artwork
+ there are plenty of different interesting and exotic locations
+ the story that i believe is inspired by İndiana Jones movies is intriguing. there are also some cool stuff about scandinavian mythology in the end and i quite like it.
+ fun to watch cinematic cutscenes
+ nice background musics
+ three playable character
+ some action and stealth parts fun
+ some puzzles and mini games are enjoyable. they are not so easy or difficult. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items
+ when you press to space, hotspots highlighted so no need to pixel hunting
+ If you do get stuck, you can consult the in-game walkthrough
+ game drops cards
cons
- voice acting hit and miss. especially Fenton Paddock's voice acting quite wooden
- some frustrating puzzles
- short dialogues between protagonists cause lack of character development
- there is no linearity in the plot and it progress haphazardly. this makes the story uninteresting and boring most of part.
- there is no information about Fenton's wife. she was second protagonist in first game but she has been omitted from this game and there is no explanation about it.
- blurry and low quality cut scenes
- black screens between cutscenes and chapters
- script way weaker than first game
- there are no Steam achievements
- game little bit buggy and glitchy but it's not game breaking
- there is no auto save
- it's shorter than first game. last chapters also short and they looks like rushedly made.
Overall, LH 2 definitely not as good as first game in many aspects and somewhat flawed but yet i enjoyed from this game and recommend it to adventure gamers.

The puzzles are mostly jumbled number combinations and spinning puzzles. Every now and then there are 3-part puzzles where you make a tea for example. Why this had to be in the game? I don't know.
I liked the very detailed overlays of objects on which you could operate switches and levers. For example, to send a morse code.
Unfortunately, the game has some bugs that in combination with the low density of information about the puzzles, how to proceed to at least rudimentary, led to confusion.
I can highly recommend Lost Horizon 1, but give the second part a wide berth.

On a technical level there are a lot of poor design choices like opting for 3-D character models and animations, something which developers obviously didn't have time, budget or talent for. This is mostly apparent in cutscenes which look like they belong in a game from the late 90s. Frustratingly, they feel very shoe-horned in, triggering in places where character has to do some simple action which could've easily been animated in game. Frustratingly background scenes are mostly beautiful with obvious talent and attention to detail on display, making these transitions all the more jarring.
Other than that it's a standard point & click experience. Puzzles vary from satisfying to needlesly obtuse towards end-game, when you need to hang onto that unique thread of designer logic to figure out one solution. There's a heavy emphasis on examining and combining inventory items and an interesting system where you combine certain objects to craft a new one. It is however under-utilized and left me wishing it was a bit more complex than clicking on listed items in proper order. At certain points in the story you control two characters, but again it's very basic, with interactions limited to exchaning items through conveniently placed hole in a wall.
Story is generic and straightforward until the very end when it throws a curveball of metaphysical nonsense which quickly resloves itself in an unsatisfying ending through a cutscene whose music bears lawsuit level similarities to TES: Morrowind theme.
To summarize, it's apparent that devs took a lot of shortcuts. I don't know if it was budget or time constraints but game is very short. What good ideas there are have been over-simplified to the point of redundancy. Animatons and cutscenes are laughably outdated and just serve to take you out of the experience. If you can get it on a steep sale, it might scratch your adventure game itch, otherwise just replay the first one.

Graphics: much better in the first game
Puzzles: with one exception, puzzles are disappointing as heck, even embarrassing sometimes
Story: Zzz...
Characters: So so
Plot: Zzz...
Fun: non-existant
It seems the game was more than rushed. Transitions from one scene to the next are lacking in cohesion. Sometimes the game does not even try to explain how a certain character ended up in the scene. Also, it feels like there are unnecessary jumps to get the plot moving whether they make any sense or not. A lot of the story is illogical.
Boring, do not buy!

Its like they have all the good elements from the first game that made it a success and decided to add pointless features and rubbish mini games. And dont even get me started on the dreaded time limits.
The mouse cursor is so slow you can hardly play the 'click fast' mini games because it runs like an old sega.
I havent even finished chapter 1, they have installed this stupid 'Motion' hand what you can use to open doors. Takes the enjoyment out of what could be a good game by turning it into something wooden and boring.
Also I got to a scene where your on a motorbike and I needed to go and make tea but because its a cut scene and I couldnt skip it, I had to complete it. This game is brimming with pointless cutscenes, its a shame because the graphics arent too bad.
Final straw was when it wanted me to type a number in an old fashioned telephone, im playing on a laptop so it expects circular motion action and I tried for a good ten minutes and it just wasnt working.
DO NOT PLAY IF YOU ARE USING A LAPTOP.
DO NOT PLAY IF YOU ARE OVER THE AGE OF EIGHT

An unplayable buggy mess of a game! :(
I really enjoyed the first game in the series and had no issues whatsoever playing that. But this sequel is just really bad. In fact it is so buggy and bad that I am unable to continue playing due to essential picture clues being replaced with big red question marks. Any interaction with these question marks freeze the game and I have to manually crash the game. It's a Unity game so I assume there are files missing or corrupted resources.
I've run the file integrity validation check, uninstalled and reinstalled, same issue every time. Enough time has been wasted on this game for me, time to move on to another game which has hopefully passed quality control and will actually let me play it until completion.
But to be honest, what little of the game I played had none of the character or fun of the first one so I doubt I'm missing out on playing anything worth playing anyway.
