Hope there will be a few more mountains to discover.
Like to see some mods for this game., like anti gravity, god mode and so own.
Also would be cool to race against your own ghost from starting every checkpoint :)
Hope the developers will continue making games like this. Great job guys ;-)

The physics engine received some deep TLC, and it shows. As a result, crashes and mistakes become fun rather than frustrating. It's thrilling when you land a maneuver that you feel you shouldn't have been able to pull off, and it makes up for all the times you crashed trying to prove that you could. Seriously, go look up speedruns for this game and enjoy the laughs along the way.
It took me a little under 20 hours to unlock all the tracks/bikes and half of the challenges... and I feel that I'll put at least another 20 hours in as the daily challenges, DLC, and fond memories continue to flow for this game almost 3 years after release. Everything I love and appreciate about an indie game exists within this package, and I feel that this game is criminally underrated for how outstanding and polished the experience has been.
Don't listen to the reviewers that say this game is too hard -- they need training wheels or more patience.

It can be really fun once you get used to the camera-angle view. Trying a shortcut, shaving a few seconds on the timing etc can be really exciting.
Another great feature daily ride that there's a modified trail on daily basis.

Bought it recently during the Summer sale and boy is it still as good as I remember.
The atmosphere of this game is like no other, it's just you and the mountain.
No soundtrack, no in-your-face HUD. Just the sounds of nature, the bike and the occasional sound of bones breaking after a massive slam in to a tree, a rock or cactus.
I can't help but get a smile on my face after trying for a while to beat my own or my friends times and while I'm close to improving the time, slamming in to a tree and watching my guy fly off the screen.
This game is just something else, man. Buy it.

leading to speed determining death rather than reflexes rather if the game has closer to a 1st person.
Despite this, I see how this game pulls out stunts and jumps phenomenally and uniquely from any title I've tried.
Including the populars like Trials and Steep.
I wish this game had better controls and a more manual camera if not for 1st person to I am assuming handle render distance and better detail.
I hope to see this game improve as the chatty devs roll the updates.

On one hand, I love the premise and the art / sound design is impeccable.
On the other hand, I absolutely HATE the impact mechanics that suck all of the fun out of the game. Bump into a pebble at a snails pace? CRASH. Take a 4-foot jump on a mountain bike? CRASH. Stopped in time before running into a log but don't have enough room to turn and backing up isn't an option for some reason? CRASH. It doesn't help that the steering is insanely sensitive so even the smallest twitch of the thumbstick will result in your character steering into the aforementioned pebbles and doom.
The fixed angle of the camera might make for some snazzy imagery but it sucks for quickly determine where the bike path leads next or if what seems to be a safe(ish) off-road section leads anywhere productive. The camera also 'blurs' anything that isn't in the immediate vicinity of the rider which further complicates course navigation. It would be one thing if the game provided you a mini map but aside from the brief course outlines in the menu, you're basically on your own or forced to rely on external devices to look up course layout. I'd suggest an option to enable a 'path guide' arrow or line that at least gives new players and non-masochists a better chance at having fun with the game. The game incentives fast runs with few-to-no-crashes but doesn't provide the player with the means to accomplish these feats apart from extensive trial-and-error and substantial memorization.
The 'daily rides' feature is a cool concept but fails in execution. The courses for the daily rides are basically remixes of the courses in the existing mountains. This is all fine-and-well until you get one that is 'night' themed....you're better off just skipping that day and waiting for the next 'day' course. The night mode in this game is broken - it's too dark to see anything!!! The developers could have achieved a better effect with 'dusk' or 'sundown' lighting but instead chose to go full-on, pitch-black midnight. STUPID!! AIN'T NOBODY RIDING BIKES IN THAT LIGHTING!!
The game trailer on the Steam store page has a section that shows the rider crashing over and over again. This segment of that trailer is more akin to the actual experience a casual gamer is likely to have with the game.

I wanted to buy this game because it seemed like a good laid-back title to play while listening to a podcast. It is very much that, but the difficulty scales right into the barely possible. Beating a mountain on expert requires you to study the track. This, to me, is a plus, more than anything. This game is fun to pick and play for a bit, but it is fantastic if you want to rise to the occasion. I've seen a lot of complaints about the camera angles, but to me that is incredibly valuable to the gameplay. You will fuck up. You should. You'll be back though.

As i told, its a great game but not for everyone, the game is high risk, high reward type, its frustrating, its hard, it might make you rage quit, but still its helluva fun. The game looks beautiful and the sound design is also great and controls too, The game is all about precision and focus and you might die, A LOT! and the camera is set up in the way that you have to give 100% of your focus to the game or a single rock might fuck up your whole run, its about beating your own records, finding new ways, new shortcuts just for own satisfaction, and then there's online leaderboard, which you might chase after completely mastering the track, some people in the reviews are complaining about absurd amount of difficulty and camera angle, but i think that game was meant to be played like that, to die and die and die again just to remember that corner the next time and nailing that perfect turn just for a fraction of seconds, but nothing is perfect this game also has its own fair share of absurd bugs and problems, first of all you cant go backwards, YEAH U HEARD THAT RIGHT! you cant go backwards, so if ur near the end of ur run and u get stuck in front of a rock theres no way to go around it, if ur lucky u might not fall but 90% of the times its inevitable, and controls become kind of UHH... EHHH... sometimes, also hitboxes are fucking absurd some of the times, u might fall of for no reason, so if you like games where you die a bazzilion times just for perfection, definitely go for this game and i really think you'll like it, if no then this is not your cup of tea

The game looks good and the physics feel quite good. I could almost love this game.
However, the camera is angled in such a way that gives you only minimal information of the obstacles that are to come.
This angle does give the game a more cinematic appeal, but it's also immensely frustrating, because I constantly run into things that I can't react to. I'd have to memorize the route before I can play properly and I'm not up for it.

This is can be as pleasant, hectic, calm and/or challenging as you like! With many different set roads across four mountains to conquer, this game is chock-full of ways to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere - either take your time taking it all in, possibly find a resting place or two, or carve a speedy path however you can to try and beat challenges a'plenty and unlock numerous customisation possibilities, be it for your cyclist or different bikes with different stats.
This has been a delight every time I've broken it out and I can't recommend this game enough - pick it up for sure!

I do think that this game could be great, I actually love these kinds of games It would just need a fundamental change in my opinion: The focus of the game right now is to repeat 10-20 second sections over and over again until you make it to the next checkpoint in the fastest possible time, with typically 8 checkpoints on one course. That is not fun! Other people rate it pretty positively and I assume that is because they're not as competitive/ perfectionistic as I am and just enjoy getting to the bottom of the hill.
My change: You could make the game more forgiving. Going somewhat fast is really fun but extremely unsafe and will end with you starting over 9 out of 10 times. This is obviously a big change and that is why I'd recommend a different one instead and that is to get rid of most checkpoints. I'd say one or at most two would be perfect. Now you aren't constantly repeating tiny sections 30 times over taking that perfect route, but instead you'd be forced to play it more safely. Then it would just be about having a good time rolling down the hill while taking some risks along the way.
As it is right now though I can't really recommend it unless you are into rage games.

Only complaints I have is that some objects can obscure the camera at points and that it would be nice if it was possible to view a model of the mountain to plot routes, especially when going offroad as it can be hard to know where the checkpoints actually are when going completely off track.
Also not a fan of releasing updates that makes the game easier.
The thought of this game in local coop is almost too good to be true, but please make it happen. Perhaps the camera could be panned out a little bit more to be able to view more riders, or just have the camera focus on the bike in front.

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam. |
---|
Is this game a masterpiece? Nope, but this doesn't prevent me having a ton of fun with it.
It is a bicycle downhill racing game. Learning it is as easy as the real thing, just sit on the bike, pedal, steer left/right, brake. Everyone can ride in seconds. Riding is easy, but the problem starts when you race. Downhill. One mistake and you crash over a rock, against a tree, down a canyon... or just along the path, your bike on your head and blood squirting everywhere. Hehe.
The game comes with 4 mountains, each with 4 tracks. Each track is divided in about 7 sections and you have to reach the next section without crash or you restart at the start of the current section. Your final time for the track is calculated by the successful attempts, so you can still have a fantastic track record although you had 300 crashes on your way. This makes the gameplay rather relaxed, worst thing to happen to you is to replay the current section. If you fail a few times, you can simply drive very slow, then the game becomes quite easy. Only thing is that you have to unlock the tracks & mountains, and for this you need either a certain time or you must not crash too often. More difficult challenges unlock new bikes, improved bike parts, new colors for the bike or new clothes for you.
Driving down a track simply feels good. It is a bit like skiing... first you go down slooooow and careful, learning how to ride and the outlay of the tracks, in the end you race down like a rocket, taking shortcuts, making hilarious jumps just to beat your best time. Or you find hidden secrets, like a calm spot with fantastic view just to sit down, listen to the birds and relax.

Lonely Mountains Downhill:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is one thing that none of us ever remembers; our first steps, and hence our first experience with equilibrium. The second thing that I personally don’t remember (maybe you have some recollection for yourself) is the first time I put my butt on this thing with two big wheels - one at the front, one at the back – and two additional smaller wheels for extra support. Yes, I am talking about my first bike. In this case, to prove that I actually did it, I have incredible footage of the event, as my Dad’s second passion (after trains) was filming; I must have been 4 or 5 years old.
Bikes have always been a good means of exercise, and there are several specific sports involving good ol’ human leg-power: Endurance Cycling (with events like the Tour de France), Speed Cycling (or little Nascar events, as I like to call them) where cyclists go as fast as they can on a loop track for a few laps, and Mountain Biking, which consists of going down a mountain as fast as you can on narrow and difficult tracks. Lucky you! You are going to experience the last on the list, in Lonely Mountains Downhill.
Lonely Mountains Downhill is a bike-racing game developed by Megagon Industries and published by Thunderful Publishing on the 24 of October 2019 on the Steam platform.
The game consists of 4 mountains which each have four tracks to discover. Each of these tracks has four levels of difficulty. In Explorer, there are no specific challenges to complete; your goal is simply to reach the finish line. I really like this mode as you can explore side-tracks and see if they are a shorter route to the finish line. In the Beginner mode there are 3 challenges to complete, while the Expert mode has 4. These challenges are based on time, as well as how often your cyclist falls of his/her bike. There is a fourth mode, but at this stage I can’t comment as I have not successfully cleared the first two mountain expert modes.
The gameplay is fabulous and unforgiving. I would classify this little beauty as a hardcore game, as you will fall off your bike many, many times over. You might ride off a cliff, hit a tree or rock, or fall into deep water. The good news is that each track has segments. So far, the maximum number of segments per track has been 8. Each time you reach a segment the game will automatically save. You will restart from that point if you fall from your bike before you reach the next segment.
As mentioned, the gameplay is just fabulous, and I really like the physics. Even as you see your biker in a third eye perspective, you can still feel the speed, the brakes and of course the falls when they occur. It is a challenging game to say the least, and hardcore players will definitely get a kick out of this one! For players like myself who enjoy a challenge, you might need to take a few breaks between each of your gaming sessions, as you might find smoke coming out each of your five facial orifices making you sweat uncontrollably.
I really like the fact that you can customise both your bike and your characters; always a bonus!
Great low poly graphics and amazing physics. The controls are sharp, but I prefer to play the game with my Xbox One Controller rather than the mouse and keyboard. It is a hardcore type of game and you might feel frustrated on more than one occasion.
Positives:
~~~~~~~~
+ Great graphics
+ 4 mountains with 4 tracks and 4 levels of difficulty
+ Customisations of character and bikes
+ Challenging from the start
+ Responsive controls
+ Achievements
Negatives:
~~~~~~~~
- Frustrating at times
- No trading cards as yet
You’ll see beautiful poly-low graphic scenery, and feel the speed and challenges on your bike in Lonely Mountains Downhill!
8/10
You are not supposed to beat each trail in one run, that is the point of the game is trial & error. Each trail is supposed to have multiple obstacles that require many runs to become efficient at. Short cuts, exploring, trial and error are huge parts of this game.
Crashing is a huge part of this game. The view point is a huge part of this game. All the things I have mentioned are what makes this game fun and unique. This game is not meant to be a 3rd person racing simulator.
Getting better times is supposed to be part of the challenge, part of the achievement. Unlocking stuff because you didn't crash so much or had a faster run.
The camera is part of that challenge it gives you a isometric view that is unique, allows you to see the beautiful level design and mountain areas. If it was 3rd person the game would not have a unique feel or design at all. You wouldn't see the mountain you'd just see a trail. Traversing would be so boring in 3rd person. You wouldnt see your bike or the rider or the crashing physics if the game was 3rd person.
You'll love this game if you love...
* Trial and error, check points!
* Challenging, beating old times, setting new personal records, avoiding crashing.
* Crashing, Short Cuts, Unlocking new Levels/Bikes/Paints.
* Beautiful level design and art style.
* Unique gameplay, viewpoint, obstacles!
If you like setting times, beating old records, finding short cuts to cut time, perfecting a run. Unlocking new equipment to make you go faster you'll love this game.
You'll hate this game if...
* You dislike challenges/trial and error.
* You don't like racing or time based/speed run challenges.
* You dislike innovate or unique controls/Camera points/Cant learn or adapt to new things.
* You don't like unlocking/earning stuff by beating content.
This game reminds me of setting times in Diddy Kong Racing, CTR, Mario Kart. Perfecting runs in City of Heroes 'Ski Chalet' & Xbox Live 'Doritos Crash Course'
