I got about thirty minutes into this and almost turned it off. The tone and direction of the game shifted drastically after the introduction of Chloe. The game was able to pull me in pretty effortlessly after that. |

It's not just a game, it's ... something more. The story is about two friends Max and Chloe.
Beautiful and damned forced to live on this side of paradise. Something is coming, but look how far away we are. The world is trying to destroy their lives. No chance, but they are still trying. Lonely in their dreams.They just want to live. Live their lives. This path cannot be walked alone, so they walk it together. And no matter what happens, they will never leave each other. Thank you Max and Chloe for teaching us how to live.Even when you're gone. Your dreams and hopes will live. You will forever remain in our hearts.

Very immersive game with great narrative and theme, one of the best and most memorable I've ever played, including plot twists and science themes.
I truly fell in love with this game, it's one of those that makes you wish to jump inside its reality and stay there.
It features an amazing sound track too.

Life is Strange has one of the most compelling stories I've experienced in a video game and comes closest to feeling like a real TV show. Be aware of mature themes and content if you're sensitive to that stuff though.

So, I beat it, the one ending anyway. Overall, I liked this I can say, even if I didn't go through again and choose different things to do, which I will. It's not perfect and I get why some would be put off with it. There's plenty of heavy handed, moments you could say, laying things on thick too or just reactions and such from characters. In terms of the story and how that is and works, sure there too I can see how not getting with it then even for me I wasn't totally sure this was a for me thing. Even back when it was new and everyone going on about it like it was the best game ever made. That's I think a little overdoing it too but genuinely I think its a good narrative experience SO LONG AS you are willing enough to go with it and can relate in some enough of a way to the tone and such. Is this something I'd recommend though? Hard, at least if someone doesn't mind lack of true typical gameplay. At most there's one or two points of true puzzle solving but nothing that involved. While a rare thing, it is nice, gives you something of more substance than just, exposition and character emotions and attempting to with you feel something. Which, I mean take this for what is it, personally video games never did this for me, just like movies, if any at all and its a short list but a few times it did actually make me feel like enough I cared. Be it either characters you really are tempted to ruin over, be nice to or help, all of which of course as is the point and LESSON this tries to get across, actions have reactions, small or big, or dire.
Which, again without ruining anything one point in this which I almost missed myself but later dawned on me was the real lesson this game tries to impart to the player but also theme of the story beginning to end, think about not just what you do, but how THAT decision effects other things too. It's all connected and even things you might not think that can come back to bite you, or even help you, could overlook. I will say that itself happens with the main character which of course though her eyes, Max we learn this. Some of this is, set in stone in the game. I will give the developers this and I don't say it lightly since not many games actually manage to do this for me. Even though a lot of things you can easily guess what might be an effect or reaction from other characters, it does have at least a few genuine twists really unless you go looking on sites reading ahead and ruining it, will surprise you I think.
That's again one of those things I liked about this and I think they did well, regardless of whatever else they did good with the narrative in that way and its not easy to fool the player usually. SO MANY GAMES I've played by now, you can tell they try but just fail in that, and sometimes fail hard. Some other things I want to mention too: the visuals. I never really care much about this unlike so many who still obsess about this if not almost come across as they think this is one of the top key things that matter, but I'll just say I think it looks, good, fine. Sound? I've noticed, in each episode, odd audio glitches where lines of dialog are cut, the worst was I think episode 3, or 4, but one of those where it was even worse, but subtitles were on so, I can read fast so still know what was said. Which not to jump around but while on issues of a technical matter, I noticed near the end of episode 5, the final one, total lack of animation when the main character Max is talking out loud, not in the end, no mouth animation, which never kicked in. Beyond that, no crashes, stable frame rate. This hardly needs the most powerful PC made to run and mine surely is not that high-end, its more mid-tier for its spec when it was made frankly but still, ran great.
Control? The game for whatever reason like some others I've seen, suggests using a controller for best experience, which I did do 90% of my time with it from start to end. I did for a short while use keyboard and mouse since, well I wanted to see how it worked with that and just for the sake of it too, its a game on the computer, that should be working correctly. I find its, fine like that really. Personally, this is one of those games I can say I preferred just using a controller but I see no issue using KB+M at all with it if someone wanted to. In general I liked the characters, some stood out for sure even if not true main major ones, but those, yeah I liked them far more than not. Max and Chloe, interesting for sure, maybe I can see how some would not, gel with their characters but for me, I was interested the whole time. The villains, well the one, annoying and a true jerk but, that's the point, so appropriate there. Some do eventually turn out to be more important than might think so again another nice surprise, I can't say I think any of them were under used, or outstayed their welcome.
So, I will re-touch on the would I recommend it aspect. Would I? Mostly yes, I've always had a hard time doing this and usually don't like to unless I know said person well enough or more what kind of games they like well enough. I think more than not, most into said games of this kind, the TellTale style I'll call it, probably would yes, enough at least to stick with it to the end even if only for one playthrough and one of the two possible endings, and not doing the optional pictures or looking at, reading and talking to everyone... as I did since, its what I do in just about every game. Which real quick I will say, there's little interesting things to see and read around which does a good enough job fleshing out the town of Arcadia Bay but also many characters and I think is worth doing, some maybe not all of it, did help me understand and like things more. The optional photos to take aren't all that hard to find, some easy to miss, and I did I admit but a fun little extra thing to do, maybe reason for some to go through a second time just for completionist sake? I got it on sale, but I did get my money's worth no question and I after many years of having, middling interest then recently more that I finally wanted to play it myself, glad I did play it.

I have owned Life is Strange for several years and am not sure why I did not get around to playing it until now. It is, in a word, fantastic. It is a 3rd person adventure, played as Max who is an 18 year old art student. She attends The Blackwell School in Arcadia Bay, Oregon. Her sidekick is Chloe - a friend from childhood who is 'troubled,' to say the least. The story traces the two young adults as they unravel some strange events that are occurring in the town. To add to complexity, Max has the ability to rewind time and change the outcome of events.
There is no combat or stealth, and almost no inventory to manage. There are no long dialog trees or circling back through places and characters looking for items or answers. The game is fairly linear in that you proceed along a defined path with key choice points as to how you react to people and situations. Depending on the choices you make, the story path begins to branch and, in this game, it is clear that choices drive the present, the future, and (sometimes) the past.
The artwork is phenomenal and the scenes and characters come to life as if they were real. The voice acting is superb and the sound track great to listen to. The controls are fairly simple and I played with a keyboard and mouse. You have a journal that is updated and a cell phone that has text messages arriving from friends and family. Overall, it is a very immersive experience.
I fell in love with Max. She is loyal, trustworthy, compassionate as she finds her way into adulthood. Chloe on the other hand has a hardness and anger that is the result of her own losses and experiences. The story is broken into 5 episodes and I am currently 14 hours in, with Episode 4 nearing completion. I have agonized over choices I've made (especially when they caused harm). It is also interesting to see how choices that seem good at the time can have harmful consequences, over time. Kind of like real life (although I am not able to rewind time and try again).
I would highly recommend this game to those who love to immerse themselves in story and characters. The puzzles are primarily practical exercises (finding objects, extricating characters from danger, assessing investigative clues, etc.). If you are adventurer who wants free exploration and puzzles, then this may not be the game for you (although I'd suggest you take the risk and experience Life is Strange anyway).
This is a game that I continue to reflect on in between sessions of playing. It has themes that strike emotional chords (especially if you were ever a teen aged girl) and the characters have real depth. Life IS strange and this game captures the essence of that truth. I will be sad when I finish it and may need to play again to see how different choices impact my path.

Late to the party but in fairness I had given Life is Strange a shot a few years ago and was immediately turned off by the setting so never got past episode 1. High school girl and teen drama, yeah I’m not the target demographic for that. However, I eventually gave this game another solid try. Overwhelming Positive reviews, I had to be missing something here right?
I strongly suggest that if you’re picking this game up for the first time, that you avoid any and all guides and forums.
You really do not want to accidentally come across spoilers in a strongly narrative game like this. I personally found this game pretty slow to start, but things do get heartrending and upsetting later on, and you really should experience this with fresh eyes. I feel like the less said, the better.
This game is dubbed a modern adventure game and so it is. There’s point & click action and some WASD exploration, but no other combat. The game suggests that you play with a controller but I had no issues at all playing KB+M. There are a few instances of having to react quickly (ex. warning a student she’s about to get hit in the head by a toilet paper roll) but certainly nothing like Telltale Games’ lightning fast timer. The rewind time ability makes this game unique in that you can spend twice the amount of time agonizing over your harrowing choices.
Someone on my friends list wrote in their review that LiS has a 90s vibe and I agree with that if you removed the smartphones, laptops and tablets. The slang is stuff I haven’t heard in ages. The painterly art style suited the story’s mix of reality and surreal. The indie music was the perfect backdrop for a wild ride. This is worth a play for sure, and it's one that likely will stay with you for a while afterward.

So many emotions are going through me right now after finishing this game, Who ever thought that this game.. A game that was sitting in my library for years, A game I was ignoring for so long would bring so many emotions that no other game ever did before
If not because of spring cleaning event I would never play this beautiful game.
The story is so deep that I developed emotions to the characters, And its so weird to say that because I can be quite cold haha
Its also the first game in history that made me cry, You did a pretty good work there Dontnod Entertainment

I am not going to write a huge review on this game. Everything's been already told, you all know what's with it and how the graphics and controls are.
But oh boy let me tell you
THIS GAME changed my perspective on pretty much everything that's about time travelling, past, present and future. You know, there are people that think about the changes they would make if they could go back in the past. The way they could've improved their actual life. Others regret things so deeply that they just wish they could travel in time and change the roots of that one event that hurts them the most, hoping it wouldn't happen (again), at least not in the same manner. There are people that believe, if they could go back to a point and change something - boom, everything would be alright and awesome. Maybe you're one of these people, too, just like me. Maybe you think that going back in the past would make your present life better. Maybe you wish you had an undo button, you wish you hadn't done or said something at some point in your life.
I've been oftenly asked, what would I do if I could travel somewhere in the past...
I don't know if you would also find your answer to this or these question/s; whether you'd take the chance to do it or not, but I can speak for myself and say that this game totally changed my perspective on life (experiences), time, mistakes and regrets. Maybe I'm exaggerating, still, I am not going to change my opinion on this game. It helped me form an exact answer to a question I've been dealing with for a long time.
It's a lovely story and I've got overly attached to the characters. It's your usual student story that takes a really weird turn. These are your usual college dramas, combined with some unusual powers.
Maybe it's a cliché, but this story totally managed to change my mind on some things and for this I must give a thumbs up.

In the past, in games, I've been busy fighting the nazi invasion, protecting the motherland, or building space stations and space ships, or commanding my fleet in a war against the cylons, or repairing tanks, or saving the galaxy from the hands of the flood and the covenant, or from the reapers, or finding a new life after the nuclear war. but this game, is like nothing i've played before, and it left me with such a good impression, the design is so beautiful, makes you want to take screenshots all the time, and the songs and musics is simply great. The setting of different characters in the game is also great, instead of just bad or good, every character has different sides, and that is what makes us human! I love this game!

Life is strange.....indeed it is. In a nutshell this game is about teenage drama that most people went through during their senior high which is why the review is flooded with people saying they can relate and all, not judging tho just stating the fact. We all have things or decisions that we regret and wished that we had the ability to change them. The kicker is the MC has that, the ability to manipulate time and we play as we change the outcome of our decision to our liking without knowing bout the impact it does till the end game........
Ep1 till Ep2 of the game is still mostly bout teen drama which kinda off putting for me. The 3rd and 4th episodes though, they blew my mind. There's nothing much to say about the gameplay aside for walking, taking picture, and decision making, its so so. cause in the end all the decision you made in previous ep wont really affect the ending that much.......Bay or Bae that is the question.
Props to the dev for making the character not entirely black or white, this is the charm of the game for me.
All in all it was an interesting ride playing this game, kinda sad about the ending but ep3 and ep4 is really nice.

To sum up my thoughts on Life is Strange...
LiS is a game that has honestly impacted my life more than any other game.
At first i avoided LiS due to doubting i would like such a thing, years later i consider it to be my favourite game of all time.
Here is why, the character building through the episodes endears Chloe to you, you learn to love her even her flaws, the game on a whole doesn't treat characters as either black and white good or bad, you find yourself digging deep to decide how you will respond to some of the characters depending on your gut feeling of that person which usually is mixed, neither angel or devil, neither fully trustworthy or outright shifty.
Like life many options are just either unfortunate or have no win outcome, leaving you feeling cold.
Life is Strange shows how good people can do bad things some times,
that nothing lasts forever,
and that every decision matters.
Treasure every moment with the people you love and think very carefully about the decisions you make.
Life is cruel
