Warum?
Was macht dieses Spiel so gut?

Welcome to Jurassic Park
Perhaps this game is simply mislabeled or they wanted “world” to suggest more than the movie by the same name — this game is comprised of a truncated version of four Jurassic films. Those being Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Jurassic Park 3 and Jurassic World.
Life... finds a way
“Classically” structured in the way Lego games, if not older, or more retro, games are styled. By this I mean an open HUB with story missions that are instanced based with most boss/mini-boss fights having three phases. In Jurassic World, the boss fights typically are made up of a mixture of puzzle and quicktime events. Juxtaposed to an older Lego title, Star Wars: The Complete Saga, many of the boss fights in that are simple hack and slash/beat 'em up style. Something that no Lego game (in my experience) has yet to excel at — we'll see if that changes for the Skywalker Saga. But more to the point, Jurassic World's puzzle bosses play to what I would deem a stronger game design decision.
Coming back to older Lego design, Jurassic World also features a few quality of life improvements over its older brethren. Things like having a character selection wheel, especially useful in freeplay where characters can be hot-swapped. The game also has Steam achievements for those of us more externally motivated regarding tedious collection tasks. Not to mention newer LEGO games are voice acted beyond the hmm and grunts present in older titles. Similarly to other Lego games, Lord of the Rings and City Undercover for example, there are many side activities you can engage with outside of replaying main missions with extra characters to gain the collectibles. Each movie has its own island to explore once you've got enough character archetypes to roam. The Lego studs you collect act not only as a score but as currency to buy some of the extra characters running about.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2753165211
The game does effectively force you into playing through the story first despite technically bringing you back to the open map between missions — by way of locking paths away with things that cannot be activated without certain character archetypes with specific abilities.

Tech stuff
In the interest of the burgeoning APU/handheld PC market I've been experimenting running games on my iGPU, an i5-9300H integrated HD630 — not only that, I limit it to a 20W TDP to see how far I can push it. I can say that I was able to run this game at 720@60 using 20W. It actually pushed it a lot harder than I thought it would. Otherwise the game runs rather well just running slightly above idle wattage on my desktop (5600X and a GTX1060) — however, it is not alt-tab friendly. If I left it minimized for more than a few seconds it'd soft lock.
We spared no expense
For a Lego game, it's pretty run-of-the-mill. That isn't to say it's bad or mundane — Lego games, typically, are really good. It's quite rare to see a bad one. Beyond that, I feel as though Jurassic World may be a bit of niche buy, as I don't see it as being as big as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or Star Wars etc. Just a few of the IP's that Traveler's Tale holds access to. It's kind of an odd thing, Jurassic Park/World is a lowkey set of horror/thriller/slasher films, effectively gallivanting as some mixture of sci-fi and fantasy generally aimed at kids — because kids like dinosaurs — until their parent or guardian gets them a book about paleontology, that is.
More concisely, I think it's a fun game, but unless you're real into 100%-ing games or just really like Jurassic Park, this is likely going to be a one-and-done through the main campaign which roughly lasts about 10-ish hours.

I had some issues with launching/crashing when I first downloaded, but after getting those squared away I had no performance issues whatsoever.
There are 4 full campaigns (Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park 2, Jurassic Park: Lost World, and Jurassic World). 2 large open world islands, and 2 small open world islands. It is a lot of content, but does not ever feel like it's dragging.
Surprisingly few bugs for a Lego game, the only thing that stood out to me were issues with the playable raptors, otherwise the game felt really really good to play.
Beware, this game will spoil you and no other Lego game will measure up

Alright, genuine review time. Overall, I would give this game a big old 8.5/10[b]. The reasons it's not 10/10 are honestly not entirely the game's fault, but I'll get to that later.
THE PROS
The game is, at the core, just fun. Any LEGO Game is fun. I picked this up because it has LEGO and dinosaurs (and who needs anything else, really?). You can fight dinosaurs (the small ones, at least). You can BE dinosaurs. You can MAKE DINOSAURS. Not like, hugely new species, but you can customize your dinos to have the traits of other dinos you've unlocked, which is pretty great. Only exception is
the Mozosaurus, since you have no other water-type dinos.
The game also doesn't make it difficult to get the collectibles. Which, yeah, that's how it usually is, but there have been some LEGO games where I have to look up where to find Gold Bricks or access certain areas. I definitely had my confusion here and there with this game, but never did I look up any guides or walkthroughs. For me, that's a particularly important point.
THE CONS
Now, onto the parts that I'm not too fond of. I'm taking off a whole point off the 10 point total due to the driving system. It's dissatisfying to drive anything that isn't a gyrosphere, because they all rely on you pressing a button to act as the gas pedal, and steering with L-stick and such, which means that you only go two speeds, which are an astounding 0 MPH or Sonic MPH and it's difficult to control the vehicles when driving. The amount of times I Austin Powers'd myself because I could not control the speed and As such, I highly recommend just avoiding any of the cars overall and stick with gyrospheres, which do not rely on 'stepping on the gas' mechanic, and also, they can jump!
Finally, the last 0.5 point that I took off is not entirely the game's fault, but I assume comes from the movies. If you look at the female characters in the game, you notice that they all have agility, and many of them also have the ability to scream so loud they can break glass. This isn't the case with every female characters in the game, but of the main playable ones, this is prominent. I personally thing that in the original movies, they just didn't have good enough action and roles for the female characters, to the point that the LEGO team had to add something so that the female characters were able to be relevant.
This isn't just something for the women, either. They elevate side characters due to the need for 2 player gameplay, which is why Barry is important, probably more so than he had been in the World movie. In any of the trailers, promotion, chatter, any of that from when Jurassic World came out, I remember nothing about there being a Black character in the movie. I think the game elevating him to a genuinely important character is great, especially how it translated into gameplay, but it also shows that they had some real dino poop to dig through to make a game that would still be good and respectful to the original movies, so that the few female cast characters have presence in their agility and/or screams, and so that Black characters have actual screentime.
TLDR: The game is overall really good. Only exceptions are the cars, which suck, and some of the source material translation, since the movies didn't seem to have much screentime or presence for female characters. [b]8.5/10

Gonna add that if you don't play with your resolution at 1920x1080 it leads to some annoying bugs. VSync being enabled also helps so if you find yourself having issues, try that first.

Traveller's Tales is back and they have delivered!
The game is well designed, with alot of hilarious moments for both adults and children. The writing, especially the dialogues are just amazing and the so are the amount of work put into details, they manage to capture the perfect Jurassic Park atmosphere with the original John Williams soundtrack to go with.
Like every other LEGO game, it's fun playing solo, and fun playing co-op (sometimes frustrating)
Spent a crazy 32 hours on this game trying to get all the achievements and 100% game completion.
