YANOGA REVIEW
GRAPHICS - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
I've played Lego Hobbit on Ultra Settings with 500fps and I really must admit: This Game is so gorgeous and atmospheric that I was really impressed. The Hub-World, cutscenes and ingame-mission areas all looked really fine and because of the Legolook the game aged really well.
MUSIC - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
The orgininal Hobbit-Soundtrack. Nothing more to say.
STORY - ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
Sadly this game only captures the first and the second movie but misses the complete story of ''Battle of the five Armies''. Thats the main reason I ''only'' give 4 stars. The rest of the game/story is made really good with picking out the most important scenes and dialouge of the first two movies. Also there is the typical Lego-Humour which give this already great story a fresh breath of air.
GAMEPLAY - ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆
I only played the mainstory because I wasn't hooked enough to get myself on a 100% playtrough. Its a typical Lego-Game. Smashing some Objects and solving some minor puzzles. I've found it pretty repetitive (even for a Lego-Game) and some of the levels were really boring. Sadly the gameplay didn't aged quite as well as the rest of the game but I found enjoyment while playing the campaign.
WORTH BUYING - ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
If you like Lego-Games and missed this one out or your a Hobbit/LODR-Fan than I can recommend this game. There is so much love in the world with all his little details. Everyone else will get quite bored after a couple of hours.
LENGTH : Story is about 12 hours / 100% would take ~30H
BUGS : Minor
PRICE : Paid 2.99€ on InstantGaming
DIFFICULTY : Kids-Game
FINAL:
75 / 100

Additionally, it's also unfinished as a game itself - bugs everywhere, ranging from small annoyances to soft locks to crashes that frequently require you to load the game again.
The only reason i finished this game was sunk cost fallacy.

First things first: DEFINITLY GET THIS GAME AND DLC PACKS ON SALE! It seems like many people dont like the fact that this game is incomplete and never will be complete. I understand how that would be disappointing to many Hobbit fans. I personally find what has been released, is fine, but I also find it disappointing that the game wont ever be complete (unless something magically changes in the future, but I doubt it because from what I have read, the developers dont even have the game files any more... however, who knows if that is true or not).
If you purchase all the DLC packs, you get SO MANY quests and neat characters, that it really is acceptable to say it takes place of the 'incomplete' game.
Pros:
- Many neat characters to find and collect
- I have not read the book or seen all the movies yet, but I already can tell this game adds a sense of CLEAN humor to it.
- many mithril brick and collectable challenges are easy, some are more difficult.
- have not experienced any bugs in the game yet.
Cons:
- when finding a building pad and you start to build, to get a perfect score, you have to be insanely fast and cannot choose the wrong building piece or you will lose MANY coin studs.
- can get characters stuck in odd places whille exploring the free roam but thats definitly NOT a major issue.
Tips for gameplay:
- theres a location in Dale to get a Mithril brick. You will know the location when you see it. the ground is nearly all spikes that pop up every few seconds. Statues have to be hit within the allowed time. I suggest hitting every statue twice (don't hit it three times or that'll start the challenge making it much harder). After hitting all 6 statues 2 times, go to the far left side and start there. it will make this challenge much easier.
- theres another location where the ground is all spikes (i dont remember the exact location) and you have to get the mithril brick before the spikes 'kill' you. This challenge is difficult and you will lose coin studs while attempting this. Theres no way to prevent the spikes from stopping (or no way that I know of)
- If you get stuck creating the characters for challenges like the scarecrow or goblin, you go to the character creating place in Lake Town, create a new character, and then you have to BUY (with coin studs) the costumes for the challenges.
- If you need to get coin studs quickly, just do the bonus level multiple times. You get 1,000,000 (One Million) studs each time and it is super fast and easy to beat.
More tips, pros, and hopefully no more cons, will come as i continue to play through the game.

Another Lego game 100% completed.
This lego game will give you a different experience then most other lego games. (this is positive)
The main story is fun to go through in singleplayer as well as multiplayer, unlike lego LOTR having a lot of very dark levels, this game does NOT give me the feeling that i should have a flashlight next to me at all time.
The open world is fun.
You have to do quests in order to unlock red bricks, this was also difrent then other lego games.
I felt a bit lost at first with the crafting system but you can use items you craft or find in levels when doing free play.
This really helped to gather ores and gems as you could get 3 times as many materials with certain tools or armor.
This game only crashed 3 times. (lego games crash ALLOT)

After playing DC Lego Super Villains this game does not come even close. The jank can be seen everywhere and some NPCs just vibrate around the map. You can even seed mole RNG which is amazing. Overall a quite silly game, but fun played co-op. Would not recommend if you gonna play this alone :D

The story follow all the events of the hobbit saga except for the last movie where the evil orc dies because of the fact that is missing a parte of the hobbit saga and this makes the game incomplete(can be fixed by adding a DLC that adds the last movie of the hobbit.
The only hard boss is sauron while the other bosses are fast and easy to beat but i can't ask hard bosses from a lego game.
The characters are a lot but the problema is that compared to the other lego games there are not places where to unlock all characters all togheter and the unlockable characters are all scattered in the map and this makes them hard to find, for simple on lego star wars the complete saga there is the cafe where to buy all characters.
The playability is very good and the open world map is very very good.
Another problem are the materials, because of the fact they are very limited makes the game a lot hard and in some points of the game you get stuck.
I leave a good vote because i am a big fan of the middle earth saga.
Final vote: 8/10.
Recommended age to play it: every age.

1. First and foremost, I have had game-breaking issues in the last couple Lego video games I've played - including this one. I was halfway through the level with the Great Goblin on story mode, and Gandalf somehow become unavailable during the fight. This therefore prevented me from progressing in the level, and I come to find out on my second attempt through the save point was after that battle. This could have been prevented with quick/manual save feature rather than needing to use the statues. This came after my game crashed on the level prior while attempting to mine a rock.
2. If you've played one Lego video game, you've kind of played them all. Sure they add new minigames or spins specific to each franchise, but overall it's the same stuff over and over again. I know the games are probably geared more towards kids, but there's also no sense of challenge when you can die an infinite amount of times and not fail the level.
Just my take as someone who's been playing these games since the original, Lego Star Wars.

You can think of this game as almost a straight copy-pasta of the previous installment Lego Lord of the Rings, since almost all the assets are the same, except for the main campaign that follows the movie.
The campaign is average while over 75% of the game is open world side quests and endless grinding for studs. The entire game is practically filler where you solve side quests and puzzles for mithril bricks.
It also doesn't help when the entire game is full of glitches, there are even some quests or schematic puzzles that are totally broken locking you out of achievements or mithril items, nice work WB you are just as greedy as the dwarves of erebor, pushing out this pile of sh*t.

The game itself is fun and I played through the whole game with the GF which made it very fun :)
BUT there is a big problem, similar to the movies. It's split into 3 parts. But unlike the movies the third game is non existent...
They were going to release it as a free DLC after the movie released but they scrapped that part and instead we got an unfinished game...
I would have given the game a 7 if not for it to be unfinished.
So I'm giving it a 4/10 for the sole purpose of they never finished it and I feel games like this should have a refund button even after we played through it as it feels a bit like a scam...

Pros;
• It's a freaking Middle-earth bois
• It's a freaking LEGO Middle-earth bois
• Hooah, we can now ride a horse in Middle-earth, that's what I was missing in LEGO LotR
Cons;
• Some annoying bugs
• The third film (The Battle of the Five Armies) is missing, so it's shorter
Game completed on 100%.

-Overview-
LEGO The Hobbit is an adaptation of The Hobbit film trilogy, and these of Tolkien eternal and mythical work, for the LEGO universe. Being a fantastic third-person game in the Middle-Earth Universe that tells us the story of Bilbo Baggins in a funnier way.
✔Pros:
+ Fantastic Story:
-> The game is an adaptation of one of the best fantasy books ever made, The Hobbit, an immortal work from Tolkien, also known as the writer of The Lord of The Rings. The game manages to adapt a serious book into a Lego funny universe.
+ Solid Gameplay:
-> The gameplay is good and well-structured, with several puzzles and constant movement. The many characters also help, each with different abilities that later can help to do 100% of the game. This doesn't let the game become boring after just 30 minutes.
+ Visuals:
-> Some of the textures aren't perfect. However, how the game manages to put LEGOs in the different zones is simply formidable. It makes the game look richer at every point.
❌Cons:
- The voice-overs are badly done:
-> Some of the voice-overs at some moments don't sound well because they have been taken from the films. It should be more carefully implemented in the game to sound better.
-Going Deeper-
Rating: 76/100
????Story
Initially, the game displays the events that led to the beginning of this adventure through Middle-earth. All begins with the loss of the biggest and mighty dwarfs kingdom of all Middle-Earth; Erebor, The Lonely Mountain, by the Fire Dragon from the North; Smaug, The Terrible.
After this little prologue, the story of Bilbo Baggins and his adventure with the company of Thorin Oakenshield begins. Formed by 13 dwarves, an iconic wizard, and our bugler, Bilbo Baggins, the company of dwarfs departs on a journey to the reconquest of their homeland.

????Gameplay
LEGO The Hobbit consists of quick missions with various puzzles to solve. Without a doubt, they are not the hardest puzzles, but still, they can be funny and interesting to see. During the missions, the game gives the chance to play with more than one character at the same time. Being important because each one has a different function that can be used to complete the missions and the puzzles easier.
The game after the main campaign has several side-quest missions that will offer more puzzles and playtime. It is also important, after finishing for the first time the game, to repeat it in free mode. Since in this game mode, the player can take other characters and play normal campaign missions. The perfect time to seek extras that initially were impossible to get. Being a LEGO game is given the freedom to destroy practically everything made of LEGOS to earn coins, which I found simply incredible. Makes the game a little more interactive.
Many doubt the gameplay of LEGO games gameplay would be this good. However, I had an exceptional experience. I played the game just with a keyboard since the mouse is not used. Having experience with other LEGO games, I must say that play with the controller is easier. In LEGO: The Hobbit isn't difficult to play with the keyboard, but the default keys are a bit confusing. Different keys that most players aren't used to play with are important to make simple actions (such as H, J, K, U). The player can change the keybinds. However, the game doesn't allow the use of the mouse.

????Audio & Visuals
Visually is simply magnific. The game is not simply 100% LEGO. For the most part, there is not even LEGO, and this leads to a magnificent point, as the game manages to put very well LEGOs constructions in the different zones. Many areas do not have such good textures, and the implementation of small constructions in LEGO makes these places richer. It doesn't even look like a LEGO game.
With the audio, the game brings us on an adventure through Middle-Earth. Using the magnificent soundtrack from The Hobbit trilogy gives another spirit to the gameplay. The unique thing that probably, I have to point is the voice-overs of the characters. Some of the voices were badly are poorly done.

Was the game good? The story mode was okey even tho I felt forced smashing everything up. The other stuff in the open world with side quests, collecting blue prints and items. No. Just no. I had no patience at all for that BUT I can still see people enjoy that.
This game is a good kid game or a game for the causal gamer who doesn't want to play a too difficult game. Probably the reason why I managed to play through the story campaign, because I could just ride along more or less. However you can still play this game in several ways and really go for achievements and items wich is also something positive in a game.
Would recommend!

So why do I still recommend it? It's a good Lego game. It's basic fun, with nice puzzles, gags, minigames, collectibles, etc. with the added bonus of RPG esque collectibles around an open world map. There's a lot of hours of fun in this game, especially if you look to 100% complete it.
What don't I like about it? There's a few really annoying bugs, like being unable to swap to your partner in the open world at random, the map menu being completely inaccessible at random (even through eagle statues) and the AI getting stuck on parts where you need to perform combo moves to win a boss fight. Another really annoying part of this game is when special abilities have very specific places to be performed, being very mildly off (despite seemingly looking the right way) will not target the right thing. Finally, my last gripe with this game is how characters randomly put away their special items, equipping some other weapon, which requires you open the character select menu and through your inventory pick the right item.
Overall I recommend this game to Lego game fans and people who enjoy mucking about in a LotR open world environment. If you're not either of those, don't bother with this game.[/strike]
After going for the 100% on this game I can no longer recommend it. The amount of game breaking bugs are too numnerous to make the gameplay worth it, some being as simple as objects behaving oddly, others causing your game to stop performing an action like eagle flight or smithing requiring a restart, and the most game breaking of all: a puzzle that straight up didn't work by being non-interactible for no reason. After a few google searches, it's obvious that these issues have been present SINCE LAUNCH IN 2014 and they will never be fixed, nor is there a community fix available. If you're unlucky like me and you're unable to get the final puzzle to work, you're out of luck and won't be able to get 100% without resorting to some way of cheating. What a shame.

The game is voiced and the voice acting was decent enough to immerse myself in the world. The controls are a bit clunky, but that isn't an issue considering this game is made for kids. Same applies to the difficulty of course.
One huge issue I had was with so many different characters: 92 characters. Some unlocked by buying them after finding them in the overworld, some unlocked by DLC, some available by cheats.
There's just too many of them. I consistently get confused on who does what even with the descriptions during character select.
One other issue I had was with the overworld itself and its day night cycling. Overworld doesn't seem to big and you can mount a horse to get around quicker, but to do all of the challenges and quests you need to have specific characters, which, again, I had issues with in the story mode finding out and remembering who does what.
Switching from day to night and vice versa also takes too much fucking time. Makes it really not worth my while exploring everything with 30+ seconds load time on an SSD for this game.
The issues I described were so much for me that I just stopped caring and uninstalled the game after the story mode was completed. To give some context: I'm a fan of the Assassins Creed Series and usually enjoy running around a map, routing between points of interest and completing *everything* the open world has to offer. With Lego Hobbit however, I didn't enjoy it really.

The Story: So far well done, the third film is only missing
The System: Various small mechanics that nicely round off the game
The Map: All places from Lord of the Rings
The Charakters: Looking quite nice
100% were very time consuming
All told, 7/10 Minikits.
