Ongakukan and JR East have teamed up to bring you a simulator that has a wealth of experience in train driving simulators. You can experience the professional simulator actually used by JR East drivers for training at home.

Feature:

High-definition images of JR East's train lines are captured in live-action. You can drive the train from the same perspective as the driver.
You can enjoy driving from the same point of view as the driver.
The sounds emitted from the trains and tracks in the simulator are recorded by JR East using actual trains, so you can experience the realistic running sounds that a driver would feel comfortable driving.
The instrument panel displays the speedometer and other data just like the actual vehicle, and operates faithfully according to driving operations, speed, etc. The sound and instrument panel display will switch to that of the vehicle when the type of vehicle being experienced is changed.

Only buy, if you like these Japanese train games! Also be aware, that you'll need the DLCs for the full experience, there is not one complete journey in the base game. So it's more like a neutral review.

The video playback is smooth, and the image quality is good.
The controls are just ok. The music is awful...

Das Spiel ist qualitativ das Beste was Ongakukan je in dieser Richtung produziert hat. Das Bildmaterial ist gut wie nie zuvor und auch das Audio ist sehr gut getroffen.

Leider ist die preisliche Gestaltung unvertretbar. Man zahlt 30€ für ein Spiel, was letztendlich nicht mehr als eine Demo ist. Es sind 3 kurze Strecken enthalten mit jeweils etwa 10 Minuten Fahrzeit. Dabei ist es auch nicht möglich auszuwählen, was für eine Baureihe und was für ein Umlauf gefahren wird. Die kompletten Strecken können dann für jeweils weitere 30€ dazugekauft werden. Um ein vollständiges Spiel zu erhalten, müssen also mindestens 60€ investiert werden.

Für Spieler, die Interesse an dieser Art von japanischen Bahnsimulatoren haben empfehle ich eher auf die älteren Titel von Ongakukan zurückzugreifen. Diese sind zwar nur für die Playstation2/3 verfügbar, haben aber ein deutlich besseres Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Es ist an sich ein schöner Simulator, aber leider wird man hier sehr zur Kasse gebeten. Das Basis Game was vorher im early Access war, hat defakto keinen Inhalt. Man hat 3 Strecken und kann da ca. 2 Stationen abfahren, dannach ist Schluss. Man wird quasi gezwungen die DLCs zu kaufen um die ganzen Strecken zu kaufen und das auch nochmal zum VOLLPREIS!. Wer hier Geld ausgeben will kann das gerne tun und bekommt auch eine schöne Erfahrung, aber es ist halt schon ein Ripoff das man im Basis Game nicht EINE Strecke hat die man fahren kann..

It's sad how this game turned into an EA (Electronics Art) game. 100$ for 3 videos of tracks and 29$ for the basic game wich is actually a demo, and i don't understand how you came up with these unrealistic prices for the DLCs, 10-15$ are more than realistic per route. I would recommend densha de go yamanote sen.

I'm a big Fan of Nintendo's Journey to Kyoto , so when i found out that JR East Train Simulator is Available on Steam , this was a right away buy for me . Now having said that , i understand that this type of Simulation might be considered to some , way too overpriced & i totally understand that argument , but the way i look at it is that this is a Special Interest and like any other special interest comes a price for it as well . I personally like these types of simulators , they are relaxing and i find them very enjoyable . If you are a type of person who loves trains and wants something different than traditional 3D Train Simulators , i honestly think you will enjoy it .

Also to keep in mind this is still in development and as time goes by , will see more updates and more features and more DLC's with Night and Day Cycle & Weather Conditions .

All of this and more only happens , if we Support this project .

Me personally i support them and wish them the best of luck and Success , This game is not for everyone , but as i said before ,everything has its special interest ,if this happened to be yours special interest , then welcome aboard .

Overpriced glorified demo with a significant lack of polish. For a fully priced game, you only get a handful of stations.

The base game is basically a demo with a couple of stations.
You then need to buy a DLC route that costs the same or more as the demo.

Yeah, good luck selling that.

the only game i've ever played that had less content on release than it did on EA. Then forces you to buy the dlc for 3-4 times the base price. ????????????
