I think Besiege allowed more creativity and had levels which required more unique solutions (though I'm sure more levels will come out for this, Besiege started out pretty basic too). The only limit to what you could build to complete a level was that it fit within the build box and used the parts unlocked at that stage. If you wanted to just build a giant cube covered in crossbows and flaming torches and rain hell on the level... you could.
Whereas with Instruments of Destruction most levels have quite a restrictive vehicle budget that very quickly results in you running out of money to add any more parts. It effectively functions as a part count limit of which about half is used up just building a basic frame and wheels. This becomes especially noticeable when you play the challenge stages with the pre-built vehicles. They're all so interesting and unique and it makes my vehicle (basically a giant drill on wheels that I ram into everything) look so boring by comparison. I wondered why I hadn't had the creativity to build any of these things...
Then I completed the level with only one star and saw that the $50,000+ budget of the vehicle had drained most of the points away. In the normal mode it would not have been possible to build this vehicle or anything even approaching it on 8/10 of the levels and on the other two it wouldn't have been of any use since they are basically just race levels.
That's another issue with this game. Rather than being a relaxing building and destruction simulator, every level seems to expect a very rapid completion time in order to three star it. Two of the levels are just races where destruction is to be avoided. The UI and interface sounds feel like they are out of Forza so I have to assume the developer is a fan of speed challenges.
In this regard I prefer Besiege because it was never about rushing through the levels but rather trying to make it through them without falling apart or being destroyed by the enemies. It was better to take your time and play it strategically. Sticking a drill on wheels and ramming it into everything was still often a valid solution but you had to avoid destroying yourself in the process. Whereas in Instruments of Destruction you are indestructible. The only thing you have to avoid is getting stuck, flipped over (unless you build in a self-righter) or falling into the sea. The latter happens all too often as the levels seem specifically designed to be as nightmarish to navigate with wheels as possible with terrain that is hard to navigate with the janky wheel physics. Besiege had similar issues with wheels snagging on debris and terrain but there's just so much more of it here to cause problems.
Both games have their advantages though and I will be interested to see where this one goes if more levels are added.

Anyway, onto some quick pros:
-The only Unity game Iv'e played that doesn't stutter like crazy. This is a miracle. These devs need to tell the other Unity devs how it's done. Seriously. I avoid most Unity games because stutter McStutter. It's also very polished for an early access game.
-Sweet destruction physics. The best Iv'e seen since maybe Red Faction Guerilla in 2009.
-Physics chainsaws.
-Chainsaws.
-Did I mention chainsaws?
-Stop reading this. Chainsaws.
-Go play the game. CHAINSAWS!

There are pre- made machines to unlock. So that is a great feature in the game. But the greatest feature of all is that we can use machines from the Steam Workshop. This is a big plus for a game like this.
This game has a big replayability rate.
Here is my first gameplay: https://youtu.be/bcNoZm7rzI0

id like wings and gears but that probably won't happen, still a great game for those who like to make bizarre creations or dislike buildings.
ill add to this as more comes out, still early access.

I wish there was some kind of single player game associated. The island hopping thing is good, but an open world destruction game would be more fun.

Pro's and Con's
Pro's
____________
Looks absolutely gorgeous
Is one of the smoothest early access titles I have ever played, Didn't experience any bugs or fps issues
Destruction looks and feels great which I very much enjoy
Building in this game is honestly quite fun and enjoyable and with a little bit of experimenting it is fairly easy to get through all main and side objectives
Con's
____________
Sadly the game is fairly short and is a bit too easy to get through, there was only a single island that was difficult to get through but after that it was a cake walk
No real danger to you or your machine, I was kinda hoping to see some kind of enemy or just something that threatens you, Like for example a turret tower that will shoot cannon balls at you, Just anything really
Only 4 types of missions, Destroy X Y Z, Get to a marker('s), Collect some crystals (Which is only done once) and push some containers into the water (Which is done once as a main objective, And once as a side objective), Not very diverse and destroying the same structures gets boring quick, It would be nice to see more diverse missions and complexity, Such as finish creating a bridge to get to the other side to finish the objective. Moving buildings, Rocks or Materials to different places
IMO the game doesn't feel very repayable, Don't get me wrong, Destroying buildings and making new machines is fun and all but there isn't much in the way of different kinds of buildings you can destroy and you really only need one craft to destroy any kind of structure or building, It just feels like there isn't much reason to replay it, Nothing in the game requires you to rethink the design for your machine (Other than to go fast on island 10), Get some tank treads and a saw and that's basically everything you will need for 3/4th's of the game, I want to keep playing it but, Destroying the same houses, Walls and poles gets old fast and isn't fun enough for me to redo missions
TL;DR, It's a great game 8/10, Sadly there isn't much diversity in missions or buildings and it gets old kinda fast, I'm hoping to see more diverse and challenging missions that require you to really think about what you need to do instead of just slapping together a tank with a saw and being able to do 7-8 out of the 10 islands, Also there is no threat to your craft, It's basically indestructible, Nothing on my craft broke or was damaged during my time playing the game(other than the treads which rebuild themselves, but the only reason they broke was because I placed them too close to each other), You can literally run over mines or explosive barrels and be completely fine
The game has a-lot of promise but there isn't very many mission types or structures in the game which makes it not very fun to replay IMO, I'm probably going to wait for updates that add more content before playing any more, It's fun but not fun enough to replay missions

Needs a workshop to share machines, and a level builder would be perfect.

The music is a solid 10/10 - I get straight up nostalgia feels for the ye' olde golden days of gaming, but somehow it still feels new and fresh.
Physics, solid 10/10 - Somehow this game is able to run as smooth as a fresh bearing even when your busy shelling an island populated with buildings.
Building, 8/10 - Could use some improvement such as the ability to drag & drop parts, copy & paste part settings and controls, allow you to move parts along the grid and I'm sure there's a few other bits. But I am being super nit-picky, its really easy to learn and super fun to build.
Part selection is pretty extensive already although we could always use more. I found myself wanting a few niche parts, such as right angles with connectors on the side. I'm super weird like that, ngl.
TLDR; Buy it. It's damn good fun and worth every penny.

Performance is great on my machine, developer seems very active and helpful inside the discussions.
German tanslation is a bit wonky, but it's doing it's job fine for now.
Hope for a workshop integration soon.
Keep it on Radiangames!
