https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2221742162

Ist halt mal was anderes.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2221741247

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2221743976

A highly underrated puzzle game which brings immense satisfaction every time you finish a level.

Make no mistake: there are some incredibly hard (and sometimes tedious) levels, especially towards the end of the game. I got stuck on the second to last level, put this game away for a year, then deleted my save because I wanted to play through it from start once again. I hope that helps describe both the immense frustration and cheer joy I experienced while playing.

Now that I've actually finished the game, I only wish more people the chance to have as much fun with it as I have had.

Achievement Hunting Rating 3/5
Loved the setting and the complexity of the puzzles. Some of the optimizations were a pleasure to complete. However for achievement hunters this can be a slog and you will need guidance on some of the later levels. You will need to beat the very last puzzle to 100%.

Felt like very fun problem-solving in the first campaign. Felt like artificially created tedium in the rest. Conceptually very fun, but in the latter half of my playthrough, it felt like I spent exponentially more time fighting the (never explained) quirks of the blocks and the editor, than the problems itself.

Nontheless, a game unlike very many and worth a look. Just remember that you will also have to put in the very unstimulating, mundane kind of work.

During our childhood, the pleasure of playing with blocks and constructing various things brought us joy. As adults, the satisfaction derived from logical thinking and optimization often captivates us. Isn't it great to have a game that incorporates all these aspects?

However, make no mistake, the complexity of the machines required to build does increase gradually. This isn't a game for the faint-hearted.

But somehow you pulled through and completed the main game. Now what? Give a shot to the workshop puzzles crafted and shared by the wonderful community. Plenty of content to keep you engaged.

I would absolutely recommend this or Opus Magnum for any first-time Zachtronics players. The 3D perspective makes it very intuitive for us humans, and is a great introduction to all other puzzle games.

Zachtronics games are the best puzzle games around because they don't shoehorn you into one solution. There are limitless ways to solve each puzzle, yet you are encouraged to be as efficient as possible due to the global rankings system. If you love puzzle games, check out the entire Zachtronics ouvre. I recommend starting with Opus Magnum, but Infinifactory is also a great starting point.

Create solutions, not answers

In Infinifactory you create solutions to the problem, you don't find the one answer that was created for it. Due to this the solutions are near endless and it is actually fun to return to previously solved problems to see if you can do better. This game is infuriatingly simple and complex and its a joy to play. Given such simple constraints as input & output leaves you open to build whatever you can come up with.

One of the most approachable Zachtronics games, an easy recommend.

Infinifactory is a first-person puzzle game where you build factories to solve puzzles. Each level starts with a machine that generates blocks as well as an end-zone with a blueprint of a product. You then have to assemble that product using the blocks that spawn from the machines with a factory of your own design. At your disposal to build your factory are conveyor belts, sensors, pushers, lifters, drills and much more. The puzzles themselves are open-ended in that there isn’t one single solution to them, so you will find that your factory/solution can differ wildly from others.

The game starts off simple and is well-paced when it comes to introducing new blocks, concepts and challenges. The gameplay loop of creating your own designs to solve problems rather than discovering the single developer made solution, and then testing it and iterating upon it is very fun and makes you feel like an engineer of sorts. The first campaign of Infinifactory alone is 30 levels long and is well worth the price when on sale. I really enjoyed the puzzle solving of Infinifactory, but I do have some cautions alongside the praise.

What makes Infinifactory unique is that you build your solutions to the problem at hand, which is what I and many other players love about this game. However, this comes with the downside that on later levels that require more complexity, the act of building your factory can be a real time sink. In other puzzle games, you will spend the bulk of your time trying to figure out the solution to the problem, and then a relatively short amount of time executing on that solution. In Infinifactory, you can take one look at the blueprints for the finished product, know exactly what the solution is in seconds, and then spend over half an hour building said solution. Early on in the game this isn’t much of an issue because the levels are less complex and building your factory is part of the trial and error learning process. Late game levels on the other hand can be a real time-sink and I just think you should go into these levels only expecting to finish 1 or 2 in a couple of hours. Another problem that arises from these later levels that I personally was lucky enough not to have faced, is that if your factory ends up needing to be significantly reworked, then that can mean erasing many 10’s of minutes of progress. It’s best to have the expectation of taking your time when it comes to the later levels, as well as walking away and coming back from a single puzzle.

My next point isn’t a negative aspect but I think it is also important to note that there is a lot of content in this game, with a lot of the end game content being very hard and time consuming. Only 1.6% of players on steam have finished all 56 puzzles, with the game’s creator Zach Barth not being one of them. My point is, you might have to be content with not finishing every puzzle in the game, and to see the later puzzles as for those who are really invested and looking for an extra challenge rather than for the average player.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Infinifactory to those who like puzzle games, especially ones that utilise 3D space very well. I enjoyed the rush of having a eureka moment and figuring out a solution, as well as the satisfaction of sitting back and watching my factory run like a well-oiled machine. I had fun building clean, efficient factories with simple logic gates as well as ugly, sprawling factories that just limped past the finishing line before clogging up. Comparing your own solutions to the those of the community is very interesting, if disheartening, and there is always room to revisit old designs and optimise them for a higher score. My only caution is that the later half of the game can be very time consuming, and you might only end up completing just over half the game – which is still a lot of content.

It reminds me of Rubik's Games from 1999.
Puzzles get difficult perhaps a bit too early, as they can take some time to solve.
The game will be 100% saved if you Alt+F4. Even starting you at the puzzle the next time you launch.
You progress by solving puzzles, not by how you solved them.

It's very addictive, and time flies very fast when you're immersed. No day/night cycle doesn't help your sense of real time.
Don't forget to sleep.

After a lot of time with this game, this is an easy recommend. However, if you aren't into this type of logic game where you have to think and use your brain 24/7 while playing, and instead want to play a game that helps you relax, this aint it. I myself love the way this game is laid out, and it also gets brownie points for running on a potato macbook or a M1 using rosetta.

Fully 100% recommend this game. Like all of Zachtronic's best games, Infinifactory is one part puzzle, one part problem solving, and one part optimization. You are tasked (by your alien abductors) with designing voxel-based factories, using simple tools like conveyor belts combiners and pistons to manufacture objects of increasing complexity. It's not just about figuring out he steps needed to turn the inputs into outputs, but also how the hell to weld things together when you need the item to come in one side, out another, welders on two sides, a way to move it when it's done, and still need to find somewhere to shove the detector, not to mention how will you get it to...

If you've played Zachtronic games before, then you also know there are two parts to every puzzle: The before part when you're scratching your head on how to make the thing, and the after where you're stunned some one did it in half the time. Every solved puzzle will have three histograms to show you the speed of solutions, the amount of blocks used in construction, and how much space it takes up. You can rarely design for any more than one or two of these at once, so those who like redesigning things to optimize them will enjoy approaching puzzles from different angles.

Less of a puzzle game, more of an engineering game. It's tough, but building your contraptions and watching them work is viscerally satisfying. As other reviews state, there is a MASSIVE difficulty spike near the end of the game. But unless you're a stickler for finishing games, I wouldn't worry about it. There's plenty of game to enjoy here, even for a dunce like me. And if you're the kind of maniac who loves pouring hundreds of hours into building comically elaborate contraptions, you'll love it even more. The simulation is robust and turing complete. People have made entire mechanical computers in this game with programmable feed tapes (look up gtw123 if you want to see the madness).

Nice little gem for a puzzle game.
Game UX/UI is quite polished.
You have several metrics to measure the efficiency of your solutions and to compare them with your contacts' ones.

It quickly becomes engineering tasks rather than puzzles, though.
That must be the metaphoric side of the alien exploiting you... (in-game story/theme)

The later levels involve a high volume of pieces and become a bit of a chore.
Hours of fantastic fun!
Four stars (of Five).

A big BUT when I say I love this game. here is the BUT... The one thing that bugs the crap out of me is that you cannot reset your game / progress other than by going in and editing the save.dat file . there are many reasons people need this feature that every other game like this has.. or at least add profiles so that people can select the profile they want to play on. that is a HUGE BAD Mark! Other than that, it's humorous, good challenge and you can get as ocd as possible or not for better stats. I like how you can look at your friend's progress and scores as well.

This is no doubt the best puzzle game I've ever played.
1. Controls are intuitive for anyone who has played Minecraft.
2. You gradually learn new tools and how they interact with each other.
3. Complexity of the simplest working solution increases steadily from level to level.
4. Instead of having only one correct solution to a level that either works or it doesn't you get Minecraft-like freedom to build any crazy machine you want and if it produces the right outputs, you get to compare its speed(cycles), size(footprint) and cost(blocks) to those submitted by other players (and of course improve it until you feel really smart =)
6. Good graphics and interesting gradual reveal of the world through messages left by long-dead puzzle solvers.
5. No repetitiveness and no waiting for anything - You can paint a long conveyor belt in an instant and fast-forward the production process.

If you like Minecraft and feeling smart(er), then don't miss out on this game!

One of the best games I've played in a long time. The game mechanics are introduced in a good pace that makes it easy to learn the game. Each puzzle is relatively small so it was easy for me to keep playing without being overwhelmed by complexity. There's additionally a story line to keep things interesting.

If you have tried other games by Zachtronics but felt overwhelmed, try Infinifactory! It is probably the most accessible game of this developer. Even though this game's puzzles require solutions in three dimensions, as opposed to Zachtronics' other puzzle games which are all 2D, Infinifactory is relatively easy. It also has a story that is reminiscent of Portal 2.

This analytical article uses Infinifactory as a test case in considering what it means to approach games as art.

[. . .] While all of Zachtronics’ design-based puzzle games incorporate their thematic content into gameplay to some degree, Infinifactory has the closest relationship between the two (slightly edging out Shenzhen I/O and TIS-100 in this regard), and is also unique as the only first-person 3D game among their offerings thus far. Seemingly simple set of tools with a simple set of rules yet game play is sophisticated and quickly can combine simple tools to create more complex systems.

Great Zachtronics game.
