Der zweite Weltkrieg mit Türmen

“iBomber Defense” ist, wie man schon am Namen erkennen kann, ein Port vom iOS. Dort kostet das Spiel 3,50€. Es nimmt sich preislich also nicht viel.

Gameplay
Das Spiel ist ein klassisches Tower-Defense und spielt mehr oder weniger im zweiten Weltkrieg. In der Kampagne spielen wir erst die Allierten und danach die Achsenmächte. Dabei haben wir auf beiden Seiten die obligatorischen 4 Türme: Gatling, Schwere Kanonen, Verlangsamer und Flakgeschütz. Auf amerikanischen Seite gibt es dann das Radar, welches die Reichweite der anderen Türme erhöht und bei der Achsenmacht gibt es einen Turm mit hoher Reichweite. Da die Gegner zurückschießen, muss man gelegentlich auch mal seine Türme reparieren, sonst muss man die Überreste noch für zusätzliches Geld wegräumen lassen. Umso besser man dann ein Level abschließt, umso mehr Punkte bekommt man zum Freischalten von Verbesserungen. Auch sehr typisch für das Genre. Nach 3-4 Spielkarten gibt es dann einen Gegenangriff, wobei eine bereits gespielte Karte erneut gespielt wird und zusätzlich ein wenig erschwert ist, da Bomber neue Wege auslösen und eventuell alte Türme zerstören. Abseits der Kampagne lässt sich dann noch jedes Level einzeln spielen und es gibt zwei Bonusmissionen.
Das Spiel macht Spaß und ist auf normalen Schwierigkeitsgrad gerade richtig fordernd, wobei manche Levels etwas nervig schwierig werden können und man sich erst eine Strategie erarbeiten muss. Dafür unterscheiden die Level sich aber so gut wie es eben geht. Man hätte am Anfang aber noch erwähnen können, dass Türme auf höherem Terrain automatisch über eine erhöhte Reichweite verfügen. Zudem hätte man ja noch ein paar Hotkeys einfügen können, da die Tastatur in dem Spiel keinen Nutzen hat.

Story
Eine Geschichte hat das Spiel nicht. Das Setting ist zwar der zweite Weltkrieg, jedoch ist er nicht annähernd an die Realität angelehnt. Da man ja eigentlich die Amerikaner spielt, sollte man nicht Polen und andere Osteuropäischen Länder erobern müssen und als Achsenmächte nimmt man auch bestimmt nicht Großbritannien ein. Aber eine Geschichte ist bei einem Tower-Defense-Spiel eh meist überflüssig. Außer sie ist wirklich gut…

Grafik/Sound
Da es sich um einen Port handelt, ist das Spiel sehr minimal gehalten. Mich hat es gestört, dass man manchmal nicht erkennen konnte, in welches Quadrat ich einen Turm setzen kann und in welches nicht. Dafür kann man immerhin die Ausbaustufen der Türme ganz gut erkennen.
Musik ist nur im Menü vorhanden, auf den Karten selber nicht. Die einzigen Soundgeräusche sind die Schüsse, die Gegner und Türme von sich geben.

Fazit
„iBomber Defense“ ist ein ziemlich gewöhnliches Tower-Defense-Spiel und wurde, wie viele andere Titel, auf den PC geportet. Es erfindet das Rad nicht neu, macht seinen Job aber gut. Es gibt bessere Alternativen, aber dennoch ist das Spiel solide und hat mir durch den flüssigen Ablauf Spaß gemacht.

Ich hatte immer gehofft, irgendwas wird noch passieren. Dem war nicht so. Die TD ist langweilig, es passiert sehr wenig, die waves sind ewig lang und ohne herausforderung.

iBomber Defense ...
... hat mich extrem an das Freeonlinegame Stalingrad errinnert, das ich als Kind immer gespielt habe. Das Spiel beruht auf ein simples System, kann aber durch gute Strategie punkten. Auch ich musste oft x mal ein Level wiederholen, um einen Erfolg zu erziehlen, aber das zeichnet ein gutes Spiel auch aus. Das Spiel ist meines erachtens nicht sehr lang, aber für 4€ keineswegs zu teuer.
Kaufempfehlung
PS: Wenn möglich nehmt gleich das ganze Bundle. ;)

FETT!! Strategischer als man meint und durch die Auf-Level-Funktion der Waffen und Features richtig fett. :)

Wer TowerDefense mag, wird diese i-Device-Umsetzung sicherlich nett finden. Für einen 50%-Deal oder sogar noch besser kann man getrost zuschlagen.

Mediocre Tower-Defense game built for mobile - 4/10

The game plays like a standard tower defense game, place towers, upgrade them etc. but it just gets boring very quickly due to the limited amount of towers and upgrades. Furthermore there are way too many waves (often 30+), you can speed up the gameplay, but then the enemies are too fast and you won't be able to intervene when needed.

Maybe on mobile it's not that bad, but on PC there are way better ones out there.

IBomber Défense is a classic tower defence game set in the world war scene. You place your towers where you think they will suit you the best and earn money for killing the enemy. When you earn money, you can off course buy more hardware. After a map completion you get skill points were you can unlock new gear or strengthen your existing ones. It seems like there are 3 different guns, a radar tower and two passive upgrades in the game. Sometimes you also get bonus level, but I have to admit I’m not sure what you get from these levels other than increasing your score. The goal is off course to not have your hangar get entered by the enemy and if you do you won’t get perfectly round. There are different maps for each region, and you get attacked by troops, tanks, aircrafts and small cars.
The cannon fire sounds pretty decent but other than that, the sound quality is low, there is no music in the game, so the only sound you hear is cannon fire or when airplanes comes you hear them. For an older game the graphic is fine for this type of game, its nothing great but its there. I could have wished for maybe some people running around in panic or even some houses on fire, but in the maps I played you don’t get these thing. Further on you will see house or like an airbase and things like that.
To be honest the game got pretty repetitive pretty fast, and many levels I played in maximum speed, and only paused if I saw something was on the way to break through my line of defence.

The game has steam achievements so its got that going for it, but sadly no trading cards.

There seems to be an issue with windows mode, and it broke my game when I enabled it in the first place. After a restart it did work though. There is no way to increase or decrease resolution so the windows is set from the developers side.

Today in 2020, the game works and its playable.

If you are into tower defence games and want to try and oldie, the game can properly give you some fun. For me the game was uninteresting and very bland, I would expect more from a game today in 2020.

A serviceable effort for the consumption of genre fans that are satiated with a competent Tower Defense game. For the rest I suggest you check out Defense Grid, Orcs must Die or another exemplary title in the field since this game doesn't really stray from the tried and true formula.

It bored me.

A pretty plain tower defense that's better suited for maybe a tablet. Still, surprisingly difficult.

Good simple tower defense game. I had some good fun with it, though the Axis Quickplay missions were a bit more challenging than I would've liked. I recommend this game to those interested who are into TD games.

Eh, It is a resonably decent tower defense game. However nothing really stands out about it. Pretty basic, nothing terribly special or interesting

I don't know why but I love this game. When I don't feel like thinking much I load this up and play for a bit. Its a pretty generic tower defense game. I think I got it for $5 which I'd say its worth that, any more than that is pushing it.

A solid tower defense game. Set in WWII, first as the Allies in the first campaign, then as the Axis during the second campaign. This is a fixed path tower defense game, meaning the enemies will always follow certain roads or channels and you have to place towers along those paths. The land and sea paths use the same towers, with Anti-Air towers specifically for the specific areas that have air raids. The graphics are fine for an iPhone port. The sound is forgettable explosions. The challenge is at about the right level. The early levels will be fairly simple to pass and not too hard to perfect, while the later stages will challenge you to even survive them.

This isn't the best TD game on steam, but for the price it's great value. Don't expect plot or fancy looks or sounds, but you DO get a good long campaign and a few interesting challenges.
