Gerne mehr davon *thumps up*

If an A.I car hits you, they proceed to pass you and you slow down.
BUT, If you hit an A.I car, YOU come to a dead stop.
A.I cars move across to run you off the road and into trackside obstacles - you cannot do the same to the A.I cars however.
Struggling to win? The game is broken, so just wait 10secs after the race starts - the A.I cars will slow down enough for you to catch up - they'll also be more spread out. There's rubber banding, and then there's Horizon Chase Turbo rubber banding.
If you hit a trackside obstacle, you will come close to a dead stop. If A.I cars hit a trackside obstacle, they'll maintain their speed and keep going.
The track is usually too narrow to facilitate overtaking.
Pick ups often need clairvoyance to collect, they're hidden behind dips in the road and bends. Therefore the game relies on the player replaying the same track over and over to memorise their locations - often unable to pick up if A.I cars insist on blocking the way with 2-3 cars side by side.
Later races, the snow effect is BLINDING! Especially the Japanese circuits where they throw in seizure inducing neon strips across the road.
I gave up when in one of the final race's of the Professional Tournament as I was blinded by snow/particles and unable to pass cars sitting side by side on a circuit too narrow to pass properly. Despite winning 3 out of 4 races, I lost the tournament and was expected to race all 4 rounds again.
Want to break some track records? Pointless, the top ranking times are all either 0 seconds or under 10 seconds - their player ghosts make it abundantly clear the online system is just full of cheats and hackers.
No online multiplayer.
Picked this up on a third party steam key site for £1.35 and that's what it is worth.
£15.49 or $19.99 is a joke.
No thank you. Nostalgia kept me playing but it and my patience ran out.

The target game mode for HC Turbo is its World Tour. We visit as many as 9 different locations located in different parts of the globe. Our journey starts in California, where we drive on multi-lane roads and the number of bends on the tracks has been kept to a minimum. Therefore, it is not difficult to overtake rivals and win the competition. Later, however, the action moves to Brazil, Chile, South Africa, Greece and Japan. They unlock new places, it is worth bearing in mind that in each of them you will have to deal with increasing difficulty levels. So you will have to repeat the same competition several times to get a good result.
Horizon Chase Turbo is a difficult game for several reasons. The cars drive like crazy so the cornering response time is very limited; you can try to beat AI at full speed or count on the fact that you can hit the brake at the right moment. Since we only have a fraction of a second to slow down. If we fail, we will hit the obstacle hard and our car will either topple over or starts spinning donuts.
There are tokens scattered on individual tracks, the collection of which increases the number of medals won in a given competition. Scoring also depends on the position at the finish line, as well as the amount of fuel..Horizon Chase Turbo is by my guess the Arcade racing game that i know of which forces the recipients to refuel regularly!
By collecting special canisters placed on the road, we fill the tank. If we do not manage to collect the necessary icons, well...we will simply slow down over time, because we will run out of fuel.
And if we reach the finish line with a car full of gas, we will also be rewarded with additional medals.
Since it's all about medals, it is worth adding that having them allows you to get new cars and unlock new tracks. The available cars are over 30 different machines with different levels of performance. Interestingly, the quadricycle can be improved by winning special competitions that appear in subsequent locations. For winning such a race, players gain the opportunity to install selected improvements in all vehicles.
Horizon Chase Turbo also includes other fun options, including a tournament in which we compete in amateur, professional and championship competitions; In addition, there are endurance races aimed at a much more demanding audience (no choice of difficulty level). In addition, we have a local multiplayer for up to four people, in which we can play both with the controller and the keyboard.
The backgrounds make an amazing impression on the HC Turbo.
We are able to travel, between cities, forests, canyons, by the beach or between blocks, both during the day and at night, in the sun, rain or snow. The locations are not only diverse, but also extremely carefully made.
Obviously the graphics aren't top notch, but it's perfectly related to what we have seen in racing games years ago. It is the same with music that brings to mind the classics, but adds something of itself. Making it a complete soundtrack with extremely atmospheric songs.
Horizon Chase Turbo can be a lot of fun, but at the same time it is often irritating. Younger players looking for an interesting racing game may not understand what the authors of the production were aiming for.
People who play and have played Lotus, Top Gear, OutRun and many other similar titles will probably appreciate how much work Aquiris Game Studio has put into making the Horizon Chase Turbo look as it is, because the brilliant setting combined with an amazing atmosphere, great control model and an interestingly constructed single-player mode makes this a very successful production.
Pros.
- Various locations.
- Feeling the need for speed.
- Amazingly crafted detailed backgrounds.
- Atmospheric musical setting.
Cons.
- Your car can run out of petrol.
- Does not offer anything new.
- No online multiplayer.
Horizon Chase Turbo skillfully refers to the classics, while giving a lot of fun.

Remember the time when racing wasn't about filling the meter with perfect drifts?
It really feels like these nice old 8-bit racing games, but with modern controllers and other features. I like how they made the perspective right, during turns or uphills/downhills. From the modern gamer's point of view, these things are probably weird and unnecessary, but it's exactly how it was in this era of pseudo-3D racing games.
It isn't another NFS clone with retro-style graphics I've seen previously: no stupid trendy things like drifting or tracking the rival's bumper to overtake it. No filling nitro by doing stunts and near misses.
It's actually a big relief to not bother with this stuff and just race in a well-made, quality game.
The videos and screenshots made a wrong impression of the game. When I watched it on YouTube, I wasn't convinced: cheap plastic graphics, calling it retro just for marketing, but I was wrong.
To really understand what this game is you need to play it yourself, there's a free demo to do so.
The game is well optimized. I've ran it on Celeron G3900, no discrete GPU. 1080p, max settings, no slowdown. You might say there's no graphics, but there are a lot of games that look potato, but they run very poorly on this kind of garage PCs.

As someone who enjoyed Top Gear from the Super Nintendo: this game feels like a vibrant 3D call-back to that genre of racing. Customization is minimal however very important for anyone trying to complete the campaign in order to unlock cars and modes.
Steering / Handling plus Speed are very important stats to increase using Upgrade Races as early as possible in the campaign however it's sometimes best to just score gold and forget the coins with the fastest yet decently steering vehicle when the Iceland Cup is reached.
First place / Gold is important as it scores near max amount of points to unlock more of the campaign eventually reaching the Hawaii Cup and therefore all of the Upgrade Races to complete all vehicle upgrades and score all Gold in Hawaii in order to unlock a car that has a good balance of Handling and Speed. Until then there are at least two fast cars after the Greece Cup (score all Gold) that will suffice provided the player is skilled enough to score 2nd / Silver or better in races after the mid sector of the campaign at which point the opponents will be much faster requiring memorization of turns for every course. Scouting a course two times may be needed before a Gold can be scored.
For anyone looking for a Need for Speed / modern style of realistic vehicle handling: this game is not for them.
Anyone looking for a Top Gear / retro style of unrealistic rail velocity: this game is a challenging entry onto the history of this genre.

There’s a surprising amount of content for you to get to grips with and if you’re a fan of racing games this will no doubt satisfy you for quite a while.
My Recommendation first: Play this in co-op split screen. I'm playing this Game with my brother on a 4k Screen and it looks and feels amazing! ♥
The presentation side of the game has been done extremely well and in my opinion both the visuals and sound design make the game stand out. If you like trying out lots of different tracks and vehicles then this game will be right up your alley because each track and vehicle has variety a plenty. The game can be a little too difficult for its own good at times the easy to pick up and play style that’s been implemented keeps the frustration levels down.
Technically the game holds up really well for the most part and I must admit that I was impressed with how tight and responsive the controls were. As mentioned earlier the game can be quite unforgiving and having to be flawless at times doesn’t help either.
Classic arcade racers paved the way for a lot of the fantastic racers that have made the way to Steam since then and even though the new racers satisfied me a great deal a part of me was still crying out for a modern 80’s & 90’s style racer. Thankfully that dream of mine has now been fulfilled thanks to the fantastic racer that is Horizon Chase Turbo. From the moment I started the game I was hooked and when you take in all of the game’s beauty you soon realise that it’s a game that you’ll return back to time and time again. You’ll be pleased to know then that this game isn’t lacking in terms of content and an online multiplayer offering is also nice.
I will warn you though that racing on these different tracks can be quite unforgiving at times, but thankfully I never seemed to get too frustrated because the easy to pick up and play style meant that I always wanted one more race. At the end of the day then I can’t recommend Horizon Chase Turbo enough because the developers have catered to old-school gamers and modern gamers at the same time and the fun this game delivers to you means this game is up there with the very best arcade racers around.

Horizon Chase Turbo is a very simple racing game. There's no worries with ideal racing line or tyre wear, you just plant your foot on the gas and go ahead, dodging the incoming cars. While you do it, you can also grab medals on the track, that at the end of the race, add up to your score. With enough score you unlock the next races and more cars for you to choose from.
It's a cool little game but not without its flaws. One of which is there's a upgrade system in the game, which is welcome sure, but it's implement in the weirdest way possible. As you get your score higher, you unlock races to run for those upgrades, once you win the race you'll have a small selection to choose from, but after you choose one upgrade that is added to all your cars. So sure, more grip to go faster on the turns is always nice, but i would like for my gripy cars to have some top speed instead.
Also, if you remember the original TopGear on the SNES, you might remember that game had pitstops, because each car would use fuel at a different rate, so the slowest car could very well win by simply not stopping or making a splash&go. No such a thing in this game tho, which is not a deal breaker, but something that it's odd to not have when the game lift so much of its gameplay from the TopGear games.
Music is also something very much close to the soundtrack of TopGear, specially the first game, with some songs almost identical but slightly changed for copyright reasons, i'm sure.
Overall, it's a great little game that doesn't take it self seriously and it's just fine for when you don't want to take it seriously too.

Horizon Chase Turbo is a racing video game developed and published by Brazilian company Aquiris Game Studio.
World Tour
7 continents, 109 races, 1 goal - Reaching and winning a Final Challenge. Technically that is 2 goals but you get the point - in World Tour which serves as a campaign, you will take on racers from all over the world in order to prove you are the best. Sunrises at California, cold Iceland warmed up by volcanic ashes, Dubai occupied by sandstorm, dusty Australian outbacks, and more await!
Gameplay
Horizon Chase Turbo is inspired by classic arcade racing games from the 80's and 90's, which means gameplay is very similar, with few modern elements and improvements.
Races are seperated into locations, and you start with only one location and few vehicles available. To progress and unlock more, you need stars, and you collect stars by placing yourself high at the end of the race, plus by reciving additional points for tokens and fuel.
Tracks have bonus tokens you can gather, collecting all of them AND winning a race will give you a super trophy, while just winning earns you a basic trophy.
Fuel is self-explanatory: Each vehicle has a fuel meter you need keep your eyes on, and while driving, you need to be on a look out for fuel tanks to refill it. No fuel, no driving.
All races are in lap format, with amount of laps varying on the track design.
Two race types: Usual race and Upgrade race, where winning allows you to choose an upgrade which will be put into all vehicles, improving their performance.
You always start at the back of the pack, with 19 other driver standing between you and sweet victory.
In terms of actual driving there is not much to talk about. You either turn left or right. Sometimes you brake because there are tracks with really rough corners.
You also have nitro, offering you a boost of speed for short amount of time.
Game features bumper-cart like physics where hitting another vehicle results in bumps. However hitting an enviroment elements, like buildings, fences and so on, results in a crash which causes you to lose time and speed.
It's simple, easy to get, yet plowing through the pack without screwing up requires patience, reflexes and skill!
HCT offers more than 30 different vehicles to choose from, majority of them needs to be unlocked first. Those who know a thing or two about cars will notice that most of them is based on real-life ones.
Each vehicle has different statistics: Handling, acceleration, top speed, nitrous and fuel capacity. Some cars offer better handling and bigger fuel tank for lower speed, some do the opposite. All of them have 4-5 different colour options to choose from.
If you want to prove you are really the best, you can use ghosts to challenge other drivers, either from your friendslist or from global leaderboard. Although as you might have guessed, majority of the ones on top is not legit.
Playtime, replayability and other gamemodes
World Tour takes ~10 hours to complete.
But with additional gamemodes, you can double up that playtime, and with constant new events you can once in a while pop into the game to do them and increase playtime further!
With such variety of vehicles, tracks and different challenges, you can easily replay the game to have even more fun.
Other modes in the game are unlocked by progressing far enough in WT, but from names in Main Menu you would have a basic understanding of what they are anyway.
You have Tournaments, which are short bursts of challenge as you take on 4 races in a row in order to win, Endurance where you take on a bigger amount of races, with a goal of being higher than 5th to qualify into next race, and previously mentioned Events which update once in a while and offer classic races with some changes.
And to be really like a 90's title, there is Split Screen option! Up to 4 players can drive together.
Pros and cons
Pretty much everything in the game is a big plus, especially if you want to relive the era of arcade racing. 16-bit graphic with modern techonology makes it look better than ever, fantastic retro soundtrack composed by Barry Leitch who is known from titles such as Lotus Turbo Challenge or Rush. Big variety of tracks, vehicles and modes. Split screen option and leaderboards allowing you to challenge other players. And most importantly- simple and fun arcade driving style.
Negatives? I guess track design in second half of the game featuring more technical tracks, because of it actual vehicle options get limited to those that have best handling, unless you like spinning a lot and not winning. Not everyone might be a fan of it, but that is a big nitpick already. Tournaments could use some balance when it comes to AI. And obviously it would be nice to do something with leaderboards, but here human factor might be too big to handle, seen similar scenarios plenty of times.
Final words and conclusion
If you are sceptical about a game, it offers a free Demo available on the store page! Try it out and see for yourself if you dig what is there.
Retro revival at its finest. Horizon Chase Turbo brings out the best of arcade racing, with simple yet very enjoyable driving, fantastic soundtrack and great visuals. Highly recommended.

Fun for everyone!
I let friends play this game, because I am unable to do so myself. I found this is a perfect game to be played by everyone, of all skills! Just press forward and steer at the right time! It's that easy, well, at least initially.
There are no licensed cars in this game.
Progress unlocks cars and upgrades for your fleet of cars. It's the standard progression of racing games.
Cap your FPS!
The simple graphics ensure a high framerate on just about every system. And that gives an awesome sense of speed!
There is nothing more I can tell about this game I'm afraid. Noteworthy that they hold weekly racing events.
Just play anyone in split screen glory, and enjoy the smiles on your faces!

The maps are beautiful, especially when you race at night. Maps are designed in such a way you always have a variety of experiences so you do not get bored. I played few maps many times to get thropies and every time it was just pure relaxing fun.
Game is even and fair. You can really progress but you do not feel like you are forced to. I would say the motivational system in this game is very elegant.
I feel that the developers have put a lot of heart into making this game. It is a standalone title and not a clone even with all the tradition of arcade racers. And that alone is a great achievement. There is not a single element of the design that would be left unfinished. So the game feels like a child of love to arcade racers and not an inbred clone. Hats off to the developers and keep the good work!

What is the point in giving all the cars different characteristics if those stats don't apply to the AI cars?
Races range from easy to annoying. They're never hard, they're just irritating because of the non-existent AI which meanders from lane to lane seemingly at random. While crappy AI in the 90's was to be accepted, in 2020 it's inexcusable. In fact it makes the game come across as half-assed.
While there are plenty of races with more modes to be unlocked as you progress, the annoyance created by having to bleed off speed to make a tight turn in one of the best handling cars, then having one of the worst handling cars go steaming around the outside of you as if the corner isn't there; never goes away.
The visuals and music are both fantastic but you can't help but feel the gameplay is a missed opportunity. HCT should be better than it is.
Good, but still one of the biggest disappointments i've experienced in gaming.

It's a game where your car moves on a rail. The car even turns automatically, you just adjust where on the rail you want to be. The rest of the game is avoiding opponents that are slower than you and collecting coins. If you manage to grab all coins and beat the rubberbanding (with nitro), you move on to the next track that features more of the same.
It's a nice game that will entertain you for 30 minutes per day. Just don't expect any replayability.

Horizon Chase Turbo offers so much fun you will loose track of time. The throwback graphics become intoxicating as race your way through the 80's. The graphics are spot on. It is as if you had a dream about an older title that was somehow enhanced. But wait, there's more!
Not only are the graphics fantastic the game play is very fluid. The controls are simple and navigation itself is bit entertaining. In single player mode the game teases you a little. It lets you race like a pro but at the same time it tosses a few tricks at you just when you get cocky about how good you are. While there is a ton of content, the additional DLC is a must have. This game puts you right on the edge of being content but wanting just a tad bit more.
Multiplayer is very well implemented and designed for a group to sit about the PC using just a controller and a keyboard if you like. It has additional support for other controllers. I am finding the steam controller to be a blast with this game.
I got this on sale. It had been on my wish list for a while. I am very very happy with this purchase. This game offers so much no matter what your age is. For us older farts its nostalgia. For the not sold its probably a bit of a throwback with a modern spin.
The Developer absolutely nailed it with this one.

The only downside is the AI, where they know your position in the track and will block you all the time meanwhile you can't see them behind you or have a rear view to intercept. In tourneys you have to be first almost all the time to win and if you get second or third, its more pressure for you.
This game is recommended for anyone, however i think the people that grew with arcade racing games will enjoy it more.

It's a fun little diversion. Good for a few quick races when you don't want to play anything too serious. First impressions were positive. You go FAST, and I like me some fast. Especially great on a 120+hz monitor. But the constant bumping gets real annoying after a while. There are just too many Gdamn cars! A more honest title would've been 'Horizon Chase: Bumper Cars Edition'. Also, there's a bug where the longer you play (or the bigger your save gets), the sooner you experience a massive FPS drop. Besides those two things, it's alright.

The World Tour is robust, 12 stops with 8 or so racing stages each. There is also an upgrade race in each stop on the globe. There is also a shorter tour for beginners to get used to racing and unlock some cars. You will also find Tournaments, and an Endurance mode if you want. There is multiplayer but I didn't try it so I can't say anything about it.
All the cars have their own stats, so finding the one that is just right is a game in itself. I found the Yellow Dustdriver that is a recreation of the Lancia Stratos rally car the best one for me. Speaking of which, most of the cars are recreations of real cars. Once I found this car, the controls were perfect. I tried other cars, but I was able to go back and 100% all the races with this car.
I got 30 hours out of it. The game didn't crash or anything a single time. Ran flawless on older hardware. Buy if you enjoy older racing games like Top Gear, OutRun, Pole Position, Road Blasters, Hang On, etc.

This game is better then hot shot racing, and did it first. Not much buzz around this game at all, that needs to change

The graphic visual style is minimalist, but pleasing to the eye and the sense of speed is great.
No complaints on the gameplay part, track and car diversity either.
Try out the free demo and see for yourself why this is one of the best, if not the best, modern arcade racers.

Now they are focusing more on the social agenda, updating the game with pride skins, and worst adding paid dlc's. So don't buy this game yet, make sure the dev fix the game, it is fun but when it drops from 60fps to 20, it is not fun anymore, wait and buy something else.
Also, yes i do have 18 hours (4 - 5 hours of idling cards, if not more), and thats why i can tell you all this issues, again i will do a proper review, and i will recommend the game when the dev fix it.
The graphics looks amazing and the music is really cool, this is the best part of the game, i like the low poly design and the style, i would love to see more games like outrun on steam.
Sorry my english, i wanted to write it in english to make sure the dev understand a little bit what i have to say.

Worth playing for the music of legendary Barry Leitch alone, but the game itself is pretty decent as well.
Some of the AI rubber-banding and collision issues are not enough to distract from what is overall a relaxing and fun gaming experience.

Taking inspiration from games like Outrun and Top Gear, this is a fun and easy to pick up arcade driving experience. Still a challenge to achieve 100% in every race and there's lots to unlock.
I love coming back to this for a quick session every so often.

I am not a massive fan of racing games unless weapons are involved. However, I found this game quite addictive with a world tour mode that allows car unlocks and basic upgrades. It is easy to pickup and play, although in some respects quite basic it is very fast and fun to play. Like most game to git gud would require skill and patience.
I got it in a bundle, but I think it would be wise to give this game the time of day at the asking price as the developers seem to have put some heart and soul into it.

This is also well-suited to couch coop (or Steam remote play together), for up to four players. Just about anyone can pick up the basics in seconds.

Throw away physics, put in pure arcade fun with marvelous music. It's like good old Outrun on steriods. And I saw real Outrun arcade with my own eyes

While not being a particularly deep game, this can be great fun with friends and in smaller sessions.
If you never wondered what racing games were like in the truly early times of gaming and aren't succumbing to the feels of nostalgia, there's literally no reason to play this though.

Its a fun, fast pacing little arcarde racer, with a more then amazing and well fitting sound track. (Could lissen to the main menu music for hours).
The Art style is simple yet elegant, Very nicely bringing the Art style of those old arcade racers to the modern era.
In Short I fell in love with this little arcade gem.
And as a bonus on top, it even runs butter smooth on very week computers.

The game itself runs solid on Linux and the gameplay feels decent for what it is.
The reason I give a thumbs down is that for whatever reason this game gives me motion sickness like crazy, and I've found no way around it.
