Gameplay:
- Standard- PVP: Du trittst entsprechend deinem Rang gegen andere Spieler an.
- Training: Hier kannst du deine Decks gegen KI-Gegner testen.
Daher sehe ich hier kein Pay to Win-Spiel.
Weiteres Positives:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2500753270
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2500750696
+ Teilweise wirklich sehr überraschende Spielentwicklungen und knappe Spielergebnisse
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2500751075

The reward system for the players is SOLID. Like it makes you gain more and more resources just by playing with a cumulatively increasing number.
I first started playing this in Beta, and even after several absent periods, the game still draws me in once in a while with its AWESOME CARD ART and exciting card mechanics.
If you are bored of Hearthstone or looking for a change while gazing upon fantastic art, voice-acting, and solid gameplay mechanics, then I highly suggest that you give Gwent a chance!

There's obviously an element of pay to win at the lower levels as people are building decks and you can take a huge short cut on that. But beyond that it's a pretty decent card game where deck building choices pay off and the ingame rewards do seem to allow you to develop a deck if rather slower than the alternative. It's also good that people managing to disconnect during a game award a win to their opponent, I'd be rather salty with some of the rage quitters otherwise.
Certainly worth a look for an online card game which is maintained.

If you play Gwent, it feels very tactical and not luck based at all compared to the others. I am a big fan of card games and I played almost every game of this genre. Nothing kept me playing it like Gwent does, even after years. This game is very well made. The grafics and the animated cards espcally, but even the gameplay is very balanced und fluid.
If you already played few online card games, you probably know you have to pay alot of money to get good decks, but not here. In Gwent you can easly craft your first few good decks after couple of weeks playing, without ripping of your whole wallet.
I already loved playing Gwent with the Witcher 3 NPCs, even tho this version was very crappy. CD Project Red took this idea out of the game and made a whole new standalone version. I played it since release in March 2017, and since then they made a ton of changes and reworked the whole game multiple times. I never expirienced a developer who put so much love and work into a online card game after release and I am a bit sad that this Game is so unbelievable underrated.
This is the only game i feel like I could play it until the last day of my life. I hope it's community keeps growing and the devs keep it alive <3
//I already got 448 hours ingame time on GOG Galaxy, I just recently started playing it on steam

Cons: after you get out of the beginning ranks and work your way to pro rank you cant enjoy the variety that game has anymore because only 2-3 of the factions are actually meta and each only have 1-2 deck variations as the result every single game you are against the same 5-6 decks (who ever designed the Nilfgards should get fired tbh) and game becomes a boring grind of either play the meta decks or dont win. you can enjoy the training games for variation but you wont get the season rewards.
its just disappointing that a game with 1200+ cards exist but you match against the same 6 decks only and majority of games that happens to be Nilfgard.

I will strongly recommend you this game as an old player of Gwent. It may not be the best card game, but it must be the most conscientious card game. Even if I haven’t spent much on this game, I can easily form a lot of powerful decks. Compared to Hearthstone, Magic, this game could be the best choice for player who want to try card game but also want to save their money. The point of it is, even if you save you money, you still could have a good experience in this game, unlike most card games.
Music and Dynamic card is really perfect. Exquisite art design and worldview, Nothing is better than playing a round of Gwent while you are free. The only shortcoming of this game maybe is the season environment - not every faction always has a deck powerful enough for you to play, and not every faction has multiple decks for you to choose, also. But we really think this problem could be fixed. This game is not a dead game, also, they always update or release new expansions.
I really love this game. And I really think this game is worth trying. If you are interested in card games, or The Witcher, missing this game maybe be your biggest pity. For every kind of player, they may always find a place in this game.

This game is going to reach a limit where later on, in my opinion, a 4 provision bronze card can play 10 more points than those gold cards that are released long time before. I'm pretty sure that the designers of this Gwent game have not played this game as much as most of us players, they don't know to what extent to fix cards will bring a true balance to this game. It's future is on a thread, but anyway, this game will never get as popular as game like Dota2 or League. For me, CDPR just lost a royal customer like me forever.

For the short time I played, I didn't see any too complex mechanics in it, so after some games you don't have to worry about your time running out.
Even if I don't like this game, I will recommend it to anyone who is into PvP card games. It's free, so you won't lose much if you give it a shot.

- Card art quality is insane

Is this game worth your time?
Definitely. Gwent has some of the best card art in the game with very unique game mechanics that you won't find in any other CCG on the market. However, the reason why I can't full heartedly recommend this game is because once the honeymoon period with the game is over as a new player, you will quickly start noticing the problems in the game. Especially if you want to compete at a higher level.
For starters, the dev team is a small one for Gwent and due to this, changes can take ages to go through. Content updates are lackluster in the past few months with expansions being split into 3 sets each with a mere 26 cards per set. In between these content updates, the balance patches are usually lackluster and problems with the games balance can take months to address with toxic interactions and cards seemingly dodging the nerf hammer meanwhile anything that is actually fun to play gets hit with nerfs as soon as the data shows that its competitive.
The competitive aspect of the game has dried up in the past few months with many of the top pro players leaving the game for greener pastures. I'm sure each of them had their own reasons but from what I understand the biggest culprit are the lackluster payouts in tournaments that just aren't worth putting hundred of hours in the game every month, and the second culprit being the sorry state of balance the game has had.
Despite these problems, the new player experience with Gwent is still quite enjoyable. The game is extremely F2P friendly so you can get a decent collection in no time at all. Building your own decks and experimenting with what the game has to offer when you're first starting out is great. As mentioned before, the art and visual presentation of the game is top notch. No other CCG that I have played (Heathstone, MtG:A, Legends of Runeterra) come close to the atmosphere and feeling of the game. (The soundtrack is top notch too, if you liked TW3's score, you will thoroughly enjoy Gwent's soundtracks)
So to summaries, you should definitely give Gwent a shot but do consider that as you gain more experience in the game, the glaring problems with the game will make it a very frustrating experience as you climb the ladder.

Gameplay is much more about your skill than RNG. If you are a fan of card games and want to try something different from your usual RNG fest game like HS give it a try. Very F2P friendly and provides a great competitive experience. One of the few real F2P games.
Also the card arts (both static and animated) are absolutely stunning, I like to browse my collection just to look at the art of my cards. Especially if you are a fan of Witcher universe you will be surpised when you see some very funny cards that sends refenreces to the books and the video games.

Simply with the Story behind it,
lots of freebies for playing the game, but
ultimately the Ones who spent the most will stand at the the very end.
Pioneers and 24/7 heavy grinders playing the same routine day after day.
In the beginning stages still quite playable where matched with new players, till
the mid stages where everyone you meet will have a standard ' bleed ', ' lock ', ... set that drains or prolong the inevitable loss.
Game for the Competitive minded.
Not my cup of tea, but
spend some small cash, had a few games, and enjoyed myself.

But, the community is mostly made of people copying decks from pro/streamer. Every update, 1 or 2 decks get a huge boost so you end up playing against the same 1/2 decks over and over (in every mode) used by players going for easy wins instead of creativity.
If you want a fair game, balanced and diversified, you'll be disappointed.

I started playing 2-3 weeks ago and I am really hooked. Wins feel satisfying and loses do not feel bad, most of the time you can see it was your fault.
As an ex Hearthstone player I am shocked how generous this game is in terms of the F2P aspect. It is truly F2P with a lot of ways to earn rewards and cards.
You get a lot of resources to buy card packs without spending a cent, but if you are willing to spend a little, the Journeys are the way to go, For $10 every 3 months thе amount of stuff you get (both resources for cards and cosmetics) is just stupid... in a good way.
If you have played Thronebreaker (which was my gateway to this game) then definitely try it, on top of everything you get a lot of rewards by playing and finishing it.
A significant chunk of the player base is not happy with the fact that expansions are kinda rare (I believe twice a year, bringing 70 new cards), but I am one who is OK with that. I prefer a stale meta once in a while over expansions evry 2-3 months, filled with useless cards designed only to drain your wallet.
If you like card games, give it a try!

As a big Witcher fan, having spent hundreds of hours between all three games, with numerous playthroughs in each, as well as Thronebreaker (and having all the books and comics), I couldn't not give the multiplayer gwent a go.
It advertises itself as free to play, which is awesome, however, to really even get to a place where you can properly enjoy the game, you really do need to invest in at least the journeys that they put out. whilst these aren't too pricey, the do add up, and once you've invested, it's kinda hard to put it down. The element to the game which really frustrates me is that all the rewards are time-limited, so if you bought in a little too late through a journey, you're probably not going to get your money's worth for it as there won't be enough time to earn all of it's rewards. For me, I find this quite annoying, as the first Journey I purchased the extended pass for was Ciri's Journeywhen I first started playing. I had nearly nearly completed all of the objectives, but due to time constraints, not quite, and now they're no longer live, there is no way for me to get some of those rewards. I find this VERY frustrating, as my hope for this game was that it would not be such a time intensive game, but rather something that I could just sit back and play from time to time. If you're not bothered about any rewards, then fair enough, but for me, when I pay for something, I like to get every last penny's worth...
That being said, the Journeys are pretty fun, add some nice story and a whole host of battlepass-esque rewards.
The game in and of itself, is pretty great. Ignoring all the issues about paying for it and missing out on certain rewards if you weren't there on time or didn't have the right amount of time to invest in the game for a few weeks, the game is great. It's a good bit of fun, with a huge range of decks that you can build from the enormous range of cards they have, which they update on a regular basis. Moreover, every month they have a new season, which brings with it a new seasonal play style, which means you get to play different rule sets, which also helps to keep the game fresh. So amongst the constantly changing meta and periodically changing seasonal rules, there is a lot of fun that can be had with this game, if you like this sorta thing. With real opponents, it really helps bring the game to life, as you're always facing some different deck or playstyle, which provides plenty of challenge.
Be prepared though, if you played Witcher 3, this version of gwent is significantly different. I would recommend trying out Thronebreaker first, if you're unsure about investing yourself in Gwent.

I stand up, realising with a feeling of dread, that I was anticipated to bring my own cards, drat, this indicates that I will have to improvise. As I near the desk, suddenly a band of troubadours appear out of the mist and blare what I can only assume is an abhorrent ballad of psychological propaganda. My opponent, likely waiting for the theme to play, immediately dawns into action, setting the desk with a multitude of cards, that I was unaware existed prior to this exchange. After several cards are dawn, he looks expectantly in my direction, no doubt mistaking me for a professional. Knowing, the repercussions for failure, I muster my wit regarding children's board games and open up my assortment of rectangular card sized objects and arrange my arsenal. Without a moment to spare, I place my welfare card faced down.
My opponent furrows his brow, anticipating a plot to be at hand. He retracts his initial cards and plays defensively, activating a card, displaying an apparition that bears similarities to a Finnish Blobfish. After some waving his hands in a arithmetic fashion, picturesque of a child injected with a pure, concentrated strain of ADHD, he ceases his erratic movements and looks expectantly in my general direction. Suddenly, it dawns on me, the players of Gwent possess a similar calibre to those possessing autism, they are astute, socially inept and immensely overbearing. Some form of archaic scripture, detailing the prophecy of the Giant Acorn also lingered in my mind, however, it quickly vanished, as my pure resilience and dedication to engaging in this child's game emerged. Sensing, the earnest matter between myself and the opposing contestant, I decided to play aggressively, causing an onslaught against his beloved deck. Without a moment to spare I placed down my disability cheque, worth 2000 dollars and utilised the money to dine on salmon rolls at the local sushi bar, whilst simultaneously purchasing a scratchie lotto ticket. The remainder of the money was used to purchase a crossbow, for wholly historical use. Pressing the advantage, I surged forward, placing down the sushi bars receipt, alongside the scratchie lotto ticket. Seeing tangible lines of perspiration outline upon my opponents shirt, I knew that the advantage lay within my sphere. Without a second thought I combined the two cards to form a card that bore the distinct aura of omnipotence, a pamphlet, bearing outlines to a trip in the Bahama's. I could tell my card evoked fear, as conspicuous sounds of awe were heard throughout the audience. To fully maximise my authority over the game I placed down a Dymock's voucher, a discount for a child's toy store and my uncles criminal record, alongside my marriage certificate face down.
My opponent, no doubt petrified over my prowess and expertise within the laws of Gwent, directed his entire deck against me, attempting to sally forth with a viscous onslaught. Through the use of an Ice Golem card, bearing a distinctive likeness to Jeffery Epstein, alongside other members of the Trilateral Commission. By utilising these world renowned cards, my deck was supposedly swept away. With a condescending smirk, followed by an imperceptible terse nod, he gestured to my deck, indicating my turn. Fortunately, for myself, I still had one last trick up my sleeve. Loading a bolt into my crossbow, I fired it directly into his chest and then exploiting this ripe opportunity, I confiscated his cards as contraband, destroying them. To follow up my advantage, I placed my library card alongside a Nintendo Switch wallpaper on the deck, effectively triumphing over the game. Due, to my prowess, I was able to leave the Gwent arena unscathed, after triumphing fairly in an irrevocably just manner. I must say, while my experience with Gwent was baffling, I do believe that I bear an innate prowess when engaging in the game. After triumphing and earning immense amounts of funds I am a being of utmost omnipotence. I have such an exorbitant amount of wealth, due to that game, that I now act as an aristocrat should, forcing concubines to dance inside a cabinet to the ballad of Yokai Watch. Or on rare occasions, they engage in an erotic dance to the tune of Banana's in Pajama's. I will perpetually revere this experience with Gwent and will be sure to adorn the image of my victory upon my mantelpiece, adjacent to were my Ulfberht rests.

As far as card games go, GWENT is rather tense. With a relatively small amount of random chance involved, the construction of your deck and your choices regarding when to play or hold your cards is crucial, and one would do well to study their opponent's tactics. As the game is split into three rounds, with a set number of cards being drawn at the end of each round, sometimes it is more profitable to pass and replenish your hand than try to match your opponent. Additionally, over-committing to a single round could leave you at a hand-size disadvantage later.
All in all, the game is probably one of the most visually realized computer CCGs I have ever seen. It's worth a shot, even if you have little experience with card games or other Witcher games; after all, it doesn't cost anything.

• Rock-paper-scissors matchups in top and pro ranks will lead you into most likely unwinnable games depending on the matchup and stats-based balancing on the dev team's part fails to address the issues.
• Factions are losing their identity and given blatant copies of cards from other factions.
• Powercreep is rendering an increasing number of cards, archetypes and leader abilities unplayable.
• Card advantage has been an issue since Beta and the dev team is unable to get it right.
• The Journey quests are the completionist's worst nightmare, requiring an absurd amount of playtime to fulfill, which ties in with the reward system punishing the player for not playing daily and the meta being simply unbearable and repulsive to the point where playing games even once a day feels like a chore.
• The game is showing complete disregard for the unique characters it portrays as their abilities get swapped around, nerfed into unplayable territory or powercrept into oblivion.
The game is in a very sorry state which cannot be excused by the nice artworks and charm of the Witcher universe. Regarding the latter, standalone Gwent might be one of the most damaging releases for the franchise.

How about a few rounds of cards? Gwent specifically.
Wouldn't mind a few rounds of cards.
Wouldn't mind a few rounds of gwent.
A round of gwent, maybe?
Up for a few rounds of Gwent?
Let's play cards. Gwent wouldn't be bad.
Yearning to play a few rounds of gwent. That oughta set me straight.
We get some cards in, too, I'll be a happy man.
A game of gwent - How about it?
What would you say to a little game of gwent?
Dunno that I'm gonna buy anything, but I sure wouldn't mind a few rounds of gwent.
Wanted to play cards. Doubt we need to wait till tommorow.
Not hungry, not thristy, but I sure wouldn't mind a round of gwent.
Wouldn't minda round or two of cards. Only need my hands for that. Got those, see?
To matters less controversial - wouldn't mind playing a few rounds of gwent.
What would you say to a few rounds of gwent?
In the mood for some diversion. A game of gwent'd be best.
Trade's good and all, but I'm hankering to play some cards. Gwent, specifically.
Not so interested in goods, but I'd sure like to play some cards...
Nods without saying anything with a slight grin

you can easily craft a full meta deck after playing for 10-15 hours without spending anything , the game has alot of cards at this point, i just managed to get a full collection after playing for +800 hours between steam and GoG
Pros
- at this point the game has an insane amount of archetypes, you have so many different type of decks and playstyles you can use and play ofc some are stronger then others but the meta is decently balanced that diversity is at its peak imo.
- The Art in this game is on a different level to anything i've seen its a very good looking game.
- voice lines are also top tier [ every card has multiple voice lines and there's around 1200 cards currently ] always catch myself repeating some of them like a maniac.
- even though its not hard to get into, the game has insane depth , most games play different depending on the match ups ... etc
Cons
not much aside from not liking some balancing ideas they had
only thing i dislike is the amount of net decking at higher ranks , the top deck at the meta report for that season is usually spammed in higher ranks which is the case for most games.

Even thou GWENT is pretty good and has some unique mechanics unfortunately its a big grind fest.
OH WELL..
(Might be a bit P2W like most of the other card games but with time it's not hard to make a good budget deck.)
That's what it looks like anyway. I would recommend to anyone who would want to try something different.

Well to me, this standalone Gwent is not quite as fun as it in The Witcher. I understand it needs to be more sophisticated, and nothing from what I see is wrong, just because I don’t really like dealing with complicated things in game.
I am not an experienced card game player. I might be wrong, but as far as I am concerned, the tutorial is very short and deficient. I wish there is a full tutorial for card effects instead of learning them from matches.
It is for serious Gwent fans. Probably not for casual Gwent players like me.

It's not really a pick-up-play game. Once you get past the initial opponents (also with starter decks) you run into the competitive player pool and the steep increase in deck quality. There doesn't really seem to be a happy middle ground.
This necessitates increasing your own deck quality with a lot of time and/or money. While it's debatable as to whether this game is pay to win, some of the packs at the in-game store are ludicrously expensive. The most expensive of which is close (>86%) of CDPR's unreleased Cyberpunk 2077.

Toss a card to your witcher,
-oh table of plenty,
-oh table of plenty
Do you remember how much time you spent playing Gwent in Witcher 3? I remember, it was a lot of time, i've got all the cards and won the tournament. It was one the best mini-games i've played. So CDPR thought “why not make this a standalone game?” and they made this come true.
GWENT is Witcher themed card game. It's not as simple as the mini-game in Witcher 3. I heard some people say that the mini-game mechanics were fine and they didn't like the big changes but I honestly don't understand these people. While the mini-game was fun, it was extremely simple and that wouldn't work in multiplayer at all. You would get bored after two hours. So CDPR improved it, added more cards, more tactical choices and made it more fun.
I played it since release and the version released on steam is an updated version which had some drastic changes. The first iteration of GWENT was pretty good but after around 20 hours you started to notice very consistent patterns and started to use only one tactic yourself. Even that overhauled and improved GWENT was too simple for multiplayer. So developers made some changes and now it's much more diverse and more interesting to play. You need to think more, plan more, you have more tactical choices. Sure you can see some repeating patterns again and again but opponents are harder to predict comparing to how it was before.
To start playing you first need to create your deck. There are decks for various factions from the game. Skellige, Scoia'tael, Nilfgard, Monsters, Northern realms and Syndicate.
Each faction plays differently and requires different planning and thinking. There are also neutral cards which can be incorporated in any deck. Beside unit cards which give you power points, do damage, boost your units or have plenty of other skills there are special cards which could be very useful and change the flow of the match.
To get cards you need either play the game and earn them by opening kegs which you get as rewards. Or you could buy kegs using real money or in-game currency. Honestly it's not that hard to build a good deck without spending any money on the game. It definitely has p2w mechanics because a new player who didn't spend anything will be at a disadvantage against another new player who spent 100€ on kegs. But after 10-20 hours that difference starts getting smaller and smaller until it disappears entirely.
You get rewards for playing and doing quests, if you concentrate on quests you'll build your first deck pretty quickly.
The game still needs some balancing done, some decks might be a little overpowered, but nothing too bad.
The gameplay is pretty easy to understand but harder to master. If you're new you can start with an easier deck which has less cards with special abilities. Later you can advance to build some more complex decks where cards rely on each other more and that requires more planning.
There's some rng element in the game of course. You can have only 10 cards from your deck in your hand at most and the cards you get is mostly random. You can redraw some of them before the round but it doesn't always help, especially in decks where majority of cards rely on each other and if you don't get the right combination in your hand it becomes quite difficult. Don't worry if you lose, rng is not always on your side.
There are several modes to play. Unranked matches where you can practice with your new deck, try new things and so on. Ranked matches where you climb the ladder which resets each month. Seasonal matches where you are affected by higher powers, for example when you damage and enemy it starts bleeding. The effects change regularly. Great if you got bored by playing regular matches. Friend matches where play against your friends. And then there's arena. To play arena matches you must pay a fee with in-game currency or real money. Don't worry, if you play the game regularly you won't need to use real money. In arena you play until you lose three times or win a certain number of matches. In arena you get to build mixed deck from all the factions in the game. It's still a bit random but you need to choose with care and know pretty much all the cards. Anyhow, you shouldn't play arena if you're not familiar with the game, it's for experience players.
On top of regular cards there are animated cards. They are no different to regular cards except for animations. So a regular card has a still image and premium card has an animation. Duh. Animated cards are more expensive to craft so you should do it when you have nothing else to craft.
In my opinion CDPR could've made animated cards marketable. It would be fun to sell/buy them on the market and trade with your friends.
You can customize the looks of your deck, avatar and the table by doing quests and unlocking rewards. If you buy a battle pass you get more quests and cosmetic rewards.
Graphically the game looks fantastic. I especially love the animated cards. There's not much to talk about graphics, it's a card game after all. I have no complaints except for no ultrawide support. A little annoying, I think it would be possible to add ultrawide support, it doesn't need to be perfect, just add some generic stuff, repeating textures or something on the edges, that's it.
The game is free so you definitely should at least try it. If you don't like it then you won't lose anything. Just give it a chance, it's a good card game.
Pros
- Pretty diverse gameplay
- You can build and adjust the decks to your playstyle
- Your favorite characters from Witcher universe in one place
- Nice quest system
- Enough factions to learn to keep you occupied for a while
- Looks great
Cons
- Still needs some tuning of some decks/cards
- I wish premium cards would be marketable
- No ultrawide support
