Inhalte

Contra:
- - leichte Ruckler in den Cutscene´s
- - keine Story
- - etwas langweilig, wenn man mehrere Stunden spielen will
- - Bugs
- - Ideallinie extrem schwer zu halten (Tastatur)
- - doofe KI
- - Handbremse für Tastaturspieler extrem ungeeignet (von der Steuerung raus geschmissen xD)
- - zu wenig verschiedene Strecken
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2116220816
Fazit:

Today, they released a patch - no matter if I get 1st in hotlap qualifier, I still start at last position.
In itself, the driving, the graphics and the physics are fun. Other than that, this game is a heavy downgrade from the original.
Do not really recommend.
Can't play this game now either.
Campaign takes 40hrs+ and you drive the same maps over and over again. Gets boring really quick.

Kurzer Nachtrag:

Thank you Codemasters!

TLDR: Avoid buying this title at full price. I recommend getting it at at least 75% off, it's just not worth it. The biggest problem of the franchise is unavailability of the predecessors for purchase.
For the more elaborate part:
+ The sound design is great. I enjoyed the quality of sound of each vechicle, it does not feel like the audio was recycled between several makes, just because both cars would use same engine layout / same displacement. Same goes for different track and weather conditions, as narrower or enclosed spaces would influence how you perceive the sound.
~ Graphics are also pretty good, however the game doesn't feel like a massive step forward in visual quality compared to Grid Autosport, and definitelly looks bad for how much (77GB) of hard disk space it occupies (Autosport was around 16GB for comparison), not to mention how much wind has to go through your mid-to-high end GPU at ultra settings.
- The game features only lap races and time attack mode. For anyone coming from more pronounced sims, it's all good, however it's rock bottom for a Grid game. Looking back at previous games in franchise, there are no checkpoint races, drift events, togue, head to heads, endurance or live routes. 95% of game consists of doing laps on 8 tracks with 3 layouts on average for each.
- Grid World Series, or campaign, is nothing more than soulless punchcard. All you do is start event, do 1-4 races, and tick the box for completion. 108 times in total for the whole campaign, and nearly double that if you own the seasons expansions.
In Grid 2 for example, the whole game had TV-esque coverage layout, with multiple indicators on your progress in for of cutscenes. Here, Grid WSR is mentioned 2 times, once you start the game, and the second after finishing last WSR race.
- The driving experience is unpleasant, to say the least. Grip of the car feels like on-off switch, at one time cars grip nicely, to start drifting unexpectedly.
- Bot drivers really like to shunt. If you happen to be too close in front of AI driver, he most likely will rear end you at corner entry. All in all, bots feel like they only care about of position of their counterparts, and not the player.
- Slipstreaming seems to work one way, favoring the player. I did not notice significant change of pace of AI while they were behind me on straights. I however can catch up to them in a matter of seconds.
- The AI difficulty levels are too spread out. At ''Hard'' you can get into first place within one lap or so, while ''Very Hard'' bots just mop the floor with your car.
- The nemesis system does more harm than good. I you get rear-ended by the same AI too many times, better be prepared for them to go nuclear. Their icon turns red and skills improve 10-fold. Oh, and their sole objective now is to ram you out of existence.
- The race engineer not even once provided me with useful information. No split times, cautions, notifications of car inside/outside into turn. Instead, he is more than willing to annoy you that you covered half the race distance or are at the last lap, or if you request that, what place your teammate occupies among the grid.
- Speaking of annoying - the Announcers. Voice lines of the 2 people before the race in the commentators booth feels like so disconnected from the race, as if they were randomly chosen among the townsfolk of where the race takes place. I mean, even Crofty happens to stutter every once in a while, but this? Do yourself a favor and disable it in audio settings.
- The game features leveling system. It is designed so that you will reach level of 99 about at 70% of the career with no prestige system later on. It would be perfectly fine, if the economy wasn't based around the player level. Once it rolls over from 99 back to one, your earnings will literally plummet, as at the start you are drip-fed with each penny, while torwards the big boy levels you are delievred dump trucks of cash.
And just to rub it in:
Epillepsy warning has to be related to the multitude of glitched flags along the tracks, that repeatedly flash white and black.
One of the races in openwheel category takes place in rain. On slick tires. Really? (Sochi 2021 anyone?)
That pretty much covers it. Cheers

▶️Introduction
GRID is the fourth entry in the well-known Grid or former TOCA series, a racing franchise that focuses on the simcade genre for over a decade. This title is no exception. Remember that Codemasters hit the reset button in this game, meaning that it has no connection to the previous games as far as the story goes.
Pros ???? and Cons ????
????Positive aspects | ????Negative aspects |
---|---|
Amazing visuals. | Forgetable campaign. |
The solid GRID gameplay. | Drifting got a lot worse compared to GRID 2. |
Runs great without many issues. | Not enough unique content for such a lengthy campaign. |
Good compatibilty for controllers & ForceFeedback Wheels. |
A griddy racing game. Haha, I am funny.
????Gameplay
Before going into detail, I should probably mention what is being offered, content-wise. It features 70 vehicles, ranging from regular stock cars to GT spec ones. It also offers 16 tracks from all over the world, with famous ones, just like the Red Bull Ring, Suzuka, and Brands Hatch. Some fictional tracks were also included from previous installments.
https://youtu.be/iH1rg7MbXxI
The driving mechanics feel great for what it tries to achieve. Compared to Racedriver: Grid or Grid 2, this game feels better than both of them. You get a lot more connected with your vehicle, which usually gives you the feeling of achieving something. That was not the case for the previous titles. Everything felt just a tad bit too easy. Drifting got even worse, vehicles just refused to hold onto the drift. You either overdid it and oversteered, or you didn't commit hard enough. The roads also feel a lot more detailed. Going over an uneven surface will cause your car to have a slight wobble, basically losing traction. Taking aggressive corners will cause your vehicle to oversteer, which makes the entire feeling of the game a lot more demanding and engaging.
Lastly, the AI in this game is simply inconsistent. I do understand that this game is trying to match the intensity of 90's Touring car races, but this isn’t a pure Touring racer. It does not matter what category you take part in, the AI will be extremely aggressive. I had to restart multiple races after attempting a clean overtake from the outside, just to get taken out by the same car. Also, the Nemesis mechanic was a great idea to mimic the same mechanics used in older games. Your grand opponent in the championship would drive a lot more aggressively against you. This feature does not work as well as it once did. Every AI drives like a maniac most of the time.
????Technical Aspects
The engine used for GRID 2019 is the Ego engine. The same game engine was used for other Codemaster games, like Dirt and F1.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2203808676
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2734842713
The vehicles also look fantastic, with smooth lines all over the car's body. There are no jagged edges in this game, thanks to the Anti-Aliasing. The interior view is probably the feature most players were hyped about, only Racedriver: Grid had interior cockpit views. In GRID 2019 they have put some extreme detail into the interiors, all of that makes the immersion even better.
Other than a decent looped Menu-Music soundtrack created by Jeff Broadbent the game has nothing more to add, as far as music goes.
[/list]
⚙️Performance
In Game
Minimum framerate:44.7 FPS
Maximum framerate: 144.7 FPS
Compatibility with FFB wheels is great as well:
Thrustmaster T150 Pro worked perfectly fine.
Fanatec CSL DD + G29 Shifter with a USB adapter worked with some minor issues here and there.
The Xbox One Controller worked flawlessly.
[/list]
⚖️Conclusion
GRID might look like a great game to most of us. It offers amazing visuals, also including the beloved cockpit view, great controller and wheel support, fun gameplay, with a rather overly aggressive AI. All of that with the Codemasters name. Sadly, GRID 2019 still felt like a small letdown. You get a decent amount of content, paired with a good game structure and it still feels empty because most of the tracks and vehicles get recycled over and over again in the campaign. In the previous installments, you always felt as if you were progressing, improving, getting closer to becoming the World Champion. In this game, this just doesn’t feel like it. Every race I’ve won felt like another random race without any meaning behind it.
In short, GRID is a good game, but it does lack execution on how to use all of the great features and graphics. It is still a thumbs up by me, obviously, but it could have been so much better.

-quantity over quality.
- its like grid autosport but worse .
pros:
-rain
-driving is still fun ( like in grid 2 and auto sport ), a mix between arcade an simulation and you can tweak it to your liking . and still have the rewind option if you miscalculated the turn lol
-sound is good
-exp leveling and score system
-cheap on sale
lol that's all
con :
-no drifting discipline
-game get boring very fast , you got 7 disciplines and in each one there's 14 events and in each event you have from 2 to 4 rounds and in each round you got 3 to 4 races , so basically you have to race around 900 time in 13 locations ( some of them from the old games) so yeah it get boring very fast . on top of that , the 3dlcs add 3 seasons that do the same thing with 3 new cars lol so you will be doing the same thing in the same locations with the same cars all over again, just in case you didn't get enough .
-multiplayer is basically dead
-doesn't look that good imo , there are older games that look 10x better
- poorly optimized , on low or high settings , game is unstable with frames drops depending on the track
- got some glitches and bugs , low textures on cars or the road ( on any settings) , stuck on loading screen after winning , cars not loading after finishing the race ,black flags in races , AI cars crash for no reasons or fly off the track
-long loading screen even on SSD.
-some commands dont work
-your partner driver is just ..... there like he is there for the sake of it
-dx 12 only
game had a lot of potential specially after the leaked alpha ( it looked like a true 3A game ) , no wonder ea acquired Codemasters. the have the same vision when it coms to game :) low efforts for a quick buck
5.5/10 only get this one when its on sale , 7 $ for the whole bundle

Two years later, this game's aged in a peculiar way - it might actually be worth your time. With the post-release content plan seen to completion, the game's single player offering is now fairly beefy and there's a good platter of cars offered that cover all the main bases of the auto racing landscape. You're also given a surprising amount of accessibility options, such as the ability to extend the length of campaign mode races up to 5x their original distance and reap appropriate XP rewards from doing so.
This is important, because while the UI is admittedly a bit bland and uninspired, the core racing experience isn't all that terrible. Unlike the original from 2008, or the sequel in 2013, Grid '19 dips much farther into the Simulation territory. Cars feel weighty and it's quite easy to overdrive the front tires - a symptom you typically don't see in a mass market racer which make this fairly enjoyable to drive with a wheel. The AI hold up their end of the bargain and while somewhat aggressive to deal with in short sprints, longer races allow the pack to spread out and behave in a much more realistic fashion which make battling with them pretty rewarding. It's very obvious the lessons learned from the Formula One series have found their way into G '19.
That being said, the blandness of the game eventually does seep in beyond the menu system. Career events begin overlapping cars and tracks with quite noticeable frequency, and you can tell where the design team just sort of ran out of both ideas and time.
On a chart comparing the original to the reboot in terms of features, the original wins. You can still hire teammates to race alongside you just like the original game, but there's not a beauty shot of your garage with both cars on a hoist showcasing the fruits of your labor. You can apply sponsor decals to your car, but there's only one option - on or off - you can't individually pick which decal goes where like you could almost a decade ago.
As a starting point for those wanting a no-nonsense racing game, this is where I'd personally begin. It doesn't set the world on fire with a glorious campaign mode like we all anticipated, and it's a few steps backward from other entries in the franchise on paper, but it's not an inherently bad game at a reduced priced. You'll probably get some mileage out of it before moving on to bigger and better things.

GRID 2019 is a little weird. I think the graphics and sound are quite good. And the physics are competent and fun (though not even close to a simulation, it's an arcade game tried and true) but the career mode ultimately lacks any interest. There are only a handful of different race disciplines, with only a handful of cars each. There's no upgrades of any kind and money is pretty easy to earn. The number of circuits itself is also quite small. So at under 10 hours of gameplay I feel like I've done everything this game has to offer. The game is fun but the career mode is so boring and repetitive you'd be better off finding a different game to play.

You can customise how realistic you want the game to be, from terrible arcade game with magic race lines (which I suspect a lot of the negative review have left it on), to solid attempt at a realistic driving sim where one wrong weight shift will end your race. The number of laps can be customised so if you like longer races you can do that, you can easily have races over an hour long if you choose to.
The graphics are gorgeous on a 4K monitor, the cars highly detailed inside and out. The weather effects mix things up and you really need to know your cars handling in all situations to come out on top.
No bugs, no crashes, very fun driving game. Totally flawless from my perspective. I have not had this much fun in a race game since playing Gran Turismo 2 on my PS1, and I've tried a lot of racing games. Just don't treat it like a competitor to iRacing.

THE GOOD
Gorgeous details / Car audio and effects
Advanced weather with tons of options
Event customizer is advanced and easy to use
Multiple genres of motorsport
THE BAD
Limited tracks
Limited online multiplayer system
No pit access at all
No photo mode
No drifting
Gets repetitive at some point, but regardless, I still enjoy it.

Driving model is decent, best of all GRID games. Car with different engine layouts actually feel different.
Gamepad support is very good.
Cars in their classes are usually nicely balanced, very few outliers here and there.
AI is actually quite capable and pretty consistent, though close racing is not really possible - AI drivers tend to ruthlessly smash you into a wall. The 'Nemesis' system does not bring anything to the game really, though sometimes it's really funny to watch Nemesis drivers try to murder you and fail.
Single player is pretty basic, but it's still better than GRID 2 and Autosport.
DLC integration is not that good, you can't drive new cars in the old events.
You don't need DLC to drive on new tracks which is nice. Also, every new category introduced in DLC has a free car, available for everyone, so you can participate in all multiplayer events with no DLC bought.
The real issue with this game is the lack of content. The game has less cars and tracks than GRID 2 and Autosport and does not have RACENET challenges, so there's not much to do, after you finish your singleplayer events.
Multiplayer is fun, but you'll need friends for that, as the playerbase is almost extinct.
Buy it on a sale, especially when you have friends for multiplayer racing.

- The AI difficulty is too inconsistent meaning it's either too hard to race against them or it's so easy that it becomes boring
- The AI will take no action to avoid hitting you and throw you out of the road it's almost feels like they can't see you, even your own AI teammate Drives like he's trying to hit you.
- Most of the races take place at sunset and the sun rays are BLINDING.
- Most cars feels and drives the same it makes them boring.

For less then 10 bucks it's a fine game that got absolutely nothing to offer other then doing the same over and over again and even if it's repetitive it's... well... fun. I’m enjoying it more then Dirt 3 that’s for sure.
Driving is implemented in a way that you can enjoy it while playing on controller and expecting more from such title makes no sense. You want to drive in a car on a closed track? Then you can buy GRID (but wait for discount).
Also lack of any open world and story bullshit is always good.

Can't understand the fact that people hate it so much... this isn't a GRID Autosport 2, this is a GRID 3 (yes, i hate the fact they didnt called it 3, like, dude what were you thinking, respect the heritage). As a GRID 3, it follows the previous GRID games, as racing in cities, like Havana, Barcelona and Shangai.
It could have a lot more content, yes, the fact that they have so many DLC's is a downside, that's why i never buy the release or near release game, but instead wait for a Goty, complete or in this case Ultimate edition, i refuse to pay for half-games.
(but this happens in every game now... the dlc plague). I recommend buying the full version, you have more cars, tracks and events.
Graphics: 9/10
Sounds: 8/10
Drivability: 8/10 (xbox360 controller)
Car customization: 6/10 (you can only change the decals/visuals/colors)
Overall: 8/10, would buy again.

- You try to take a corner but the car doesn't steer
- You adjust controller settings but the car still doesn't steer
- You setup the car but it just doesn't want to steer
- You brake a lot and gear down and are able to steer but now you are too slow
- You use handbrake so not to brake too much but you are too slow
- You got lucky and finally took a corner at the proper speed because of the stupid physics but guess what.... the other cars ram you to the side of the track...
Some classes are doable but others like the Japanese races are just plain stupid.

If Codemasters was going for innocuity, they nailed it.
GRID 2019 is reportedly a reboot of the GRID series. Personally, I really enjoyed GRID 2 despite its soap covered tire physics. That issue has been resolved here. The physics feel quite good. And the polarizing GRID autosport where you needed to dictate pace to a teammate is no longer here. You still technically have a teammate. Though they drive by themselves with no need to dictate and you can hire them while they'll take a percentage of the winnings having some variability in skill level and loyalty. However—
The problem is the actual structure of the game. It's very strait forward, minimal [strike]crew[/strike] driver management and the actual racing is not terribly engaging. It feels good. But rarely do the AI or the tracks stand out.
Four slot arcade/simulation racing scale.
In my totally arbitrary and entirely subjective scale, GRID 2019 sits in slot 2. If slot 1 is Ridge Racer, slot 4 is Assetto Corsa/BeamNG and in slot 3 is DiRT Rally/WRC/Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo—GRID 2019 is in slot 2 alongside your main DiRT series or games like Midnight Club or Project Gotham Racing. — maybe 2.5 depending on what assists you use.
I came up with this scale in my WRC 8 review. In which I proclaimed WRC 8 to be a 3 using this scale.
In the interest of full disclosure:
[olist]If these qualifiers do not suit your needs, read a different review.
Career:
You'll go down these very set paths for events depending on the discipline. All while gaining levels on your driver profile which in turn unlocks player panel images through doing team objectives (for use in multiplayer mostly.) You'll have to hire a teammate driver outside of the career menu in the team profile. I only mention this because the game doesn't tell you about it and I only accidentally found it. Any damage during races is auto-fixed afterwards and taken out of your winnings — unlike DiRT for example, where you need to manage what gets fixed should you not be able to do it in the time allotted throughout the stages of an event.

Disciplines: Touring, Stock, Tuner, GT, FA Racing and Invitational.
There are no daily, weekly or monthly challenges with leaderboards.
It is however fairly nice looking and doesn't need much hardware to accomplish it.
Doesn't use much memory either, About 3GB.

Expected number of camera options available.

That said, this game has essentially no personality of its own.
The actual racing is pretty good, a number of traditional assists are available to customize your experience. (Traction and stability control settings from 0 to 5. Flashbacks, driving lines, etc.) The commentary adds a little bit of flavor, but it can become grating after a time. There is a nemesis system in place wherein knocking into someone enough, they'll become more aggressive towards you. Regardless of these things, the game feels very dry.
Another odd thing about the game is that it requires Windows 10 to operate. I attempted to run it on my older desktop, a Windows 8.1 system. It wouldn't even launch.
The Gist:
At the end of the day, it's very approachable racer with a lot of content in different events and disciplines. It just doesn't feel very special. It's like eating a plain donut with black coffee. While these are very functional things — in that, you'll accomplish both the eating of breakfast and the ingesting of caffeine, [you might even enjoy parts of it] you aren't going to get really excited about it. I can recommend it on sale if you enjoy casual racers with some lite progression. Otherwise, it's rather banal. There's nothing really bad about it. But there's very little truly redeeming about it.
I do enjoy the process of unlocking the events and the racing physics in general, for what it's worth. But I have to choose a direction for the thumb. My time is one thing but I needed to ask myself: “Do I feel comfortable suggesting someone else spend their time and money on this product? For that, I'd have to say no.

Gameplay wise, the physics in this game makes every cars feels very “slidy”, it feels like the cars struggling to grip through every corner. Or it’s like the cars wanted to go into drift when you try to make a turn. As the time passed, the noise of the tyres gripping every single corner started to become annoying to me. Other than that, the kerbs on the apex feels weird, it’s like someone poured some oil on it. When you turn into a corner from the outside line into the apex, the moment when your front wheel touched the kerb on the apex, you car will spin out.
Apart from all that, the core gameplay is great. It’s a mixed balanced between a simulation and arcade, I can turn on my iTunes music in the background, then able to sit back, relax and race. The AI in the game is quite interesting, they all have their own personalities. They will act differently to defend their position or even try to overtake you from the inside line.
Is the game worth it the full price ? Definitely not. Maybe grab it on sale if you’re still hesitating.

Well, what's been improved since previous GRID games?
- Car sounds
- Track selections
- Cockpit cam
What's getting worse?
- Camera in 3rd person makes the car sliding like on ice
- Career is just the same thing over and over again
- Apparently kerbs in this game are uber trash they send you sliding even when you touch them for nanoseconds.
- Multiplayer progression is tied with your career progress i.e. cars you owned for career can be used for multiplayer as well. For me this kills the feeling to play multiplayer more as you can grind so many hours into career and then came into multiplayer prepared with the best cars.
- Cars now take forever for its body parts to come off unlike previous GRID games. Heck, the destruction is even toned down heavily.
It's a fun game if you want to play this game only because you like racing.

Another complaint is the number of tracks, there's very few. The developers try to trick you into thinking there's more by reversing them or shortening them etc but it's pretty clear early on that you're not going to see much new after an hours racing.
But it's not all moans and groans, the graphics & sound are top notch and the racing is fun but is it fun enough at full price? No but on sale yes i would pick it up and also maybe get a good deal on the DLC too.

Content:
Car list is pretty good. Great variety of motorsports to choose from and different types of car its a decent size.
When it comes to tracks its not a great feat. 15 tracks, 15. It just gets stale fast as you go around same places all the time. sad how we went from 22 in Autosport to just 15.
Handling:
Its hit and miss. CM managed to make some cars feel good at certain points but it just falls away for wheel users. Game was obviously made for pads, what means that cars are incredibly slidy. They just don't feel like there is any downforce just huge amount of tyre grip. which means you can slide mid corner in and F1 car.. in F1 CAR. or you just have random moments of oversteer. Worst part is whn you go over a hill and you can just feel car wanting to slide like there is nothing that pushes it down.
Carrer:
If you can call it that its just events with no meaning. Only go here, race, get money go there, race again, get money, buy car, over and over again. There is no sense of achievement, no sense of progression. Won a championschip ? well here is top three cars in middle of nowhere. No cutscene no dialog NOTHING.
Team management:
Well you can hire team mate. But even Nathan McKane will barely make top 5. NATHAN BLOODY MCKANE the man you fought for championschips in 2008. Yea hes just not so good in your team. Maybe because its the only thing you do. No signing sponsors, I just couldn't care about my team because it wasn't there.
You would expect from game in 2020 that had some key features in 2008 to be expanded on. But nah screw that.
Customization:
There ale plenty of liveries. which is awesome anyone can choose but sponsors are static. meaning they are always in the same place no matter the livery. it just looks like sponsors and liveries were made by 2 different people
The entire game feels like it was made by 2 different studios
In the end its just not worth your time. go buy GT4 pack for ACC. buy Euro Truck Simulator, put that money into your own car and drive around. Better investment that this. What a shame looks like GRiD name is to be a shadow of what it was.

Only downside is that when playing on Hard AI difficulty, a few races felt extremely hard while the majority seemed aptly challenging. I had to manually bump down the difficulty only for these particular races.
Game looks and sounds very good. Has in built Dolby Atmos support, and the car sounds are loud and amazing. Runs very smoothly as well for the way it looks.
The rival system is cool but I feel it could've been better implemented. A few more racing tracks wouldn't have hurt either. Multiplayer is dead so this review is invalid for anyone looking to play online..
All in all, if you're a single player gamer who likes racing games but only has a controller, this is a solid recommend.

I remember GRID and this is every bit a homage to the previous titles, it's by no means a Sim Racer and it has never tried to be.
There's a good few graphical options to fine tune your performance, the wheel setup (well mine was plug and play) but it's comparable to iRacing so that on-screen rotation matches your actual rotation visually, and while were talking of visuals this is absolutely beautiful, the real time reflections in the mirrors are crisp, the lighting and particle effects ace great, the rain in awesome!
AI Difficulty has only 3 settings but you can fine tune your assists (ABS, Traction and Stability) on 5 different settings to make things as hard as you like, the HUD if fully customisable.
There's many different cars available, they have some tuning options, they have a great selection of liveries which are colour customisable also!
Honestly almost every race i have a dumb smile on my face as i battle with a rival who i bumped too hard!
For the sale price, this is a must get!

- Loading screens take longer than Mechwarrior 5
- Getting kicked from session trying to play with friends, then forced through two more loading screens
- No skip option on intros, no quit to menu whenever you want -- you'll have to kill the game (and alt+f4 is blocked)
- Go in the grass a couple times and you get disqualified and don't get to even play anymore
- Touching a wall acts like a magnet and completely stops your car dead in its tracks, funniest physics I've ever seen...
- AI tries to actively kill you for passing them
I could go on, I didn't like a single thing except maybe it looked nice. Steam won't even acknowledge my refund request because I had the game in my library too long lol.

When will they realise realistic physics play better even in an arcade racer than this mess which has no feeling and no basis in real life. Cars should be predictable based on size, speed and weight. all these cars are like an ice skater on acid.
Lucky that I picked this up in a bundle of 7 games for 5 bucks, unlucky for me another one of the games was Dirt 4.
I don't know if it's suits telling them how to make games or the studio heads are just 10 year old console games but something has gone seriously wrong with this company and I doubt anyone looks forward to their games any more.
Dirt 5 will be less than 5 bucks soon so why pay what they ask.

I got Grid 2019 as part of a really good sale and have been pleasantly surprised. Its more of an arcade racer than sim, but I feel that it has a good mix that makes it very fun. My primary racing games at the moment is Grid 2019 and Project Cars 2, both very different games in terms of feel.
It works well with a Wheel (G27) and is just a lot of fun to play. Seems very accessible too.
The AI difficulty is not very consistent I find, some races I find them very very challenging and others I find them easy, it really depends on the track. This is not really different than most other racing games though. I feel that the range of difficulty is better than Project Cars 2.
If I was to nitpick here are the minor annoyances of the game.
- Each race is only 2-3 laps long. Some of the tracks also take less than a minute to complete and I would like a longer race.
- No option in to go back to the main menu, you have to Alt+F4 or complete the series before dropping out. When you are mid race and a friend wants to play multi-player it would be nice if it had an option where you could drop out to the main menu for some multi-player than jump back to where you were at.
- Does not seem to have an option to save setup for your cars per track, or save a setup and name it after the track.
I really like the ability to see where you sit with your friends on lap times for track and car class. It would be nice to improve the UI or have a sort of leader board to make it easier / quicker to do.
When you are new to the game, its really hard to know what cards are under what categories. It would be nice to show what cars the options give you as you are fairly unfamiliar when you start (or at least I was.)
In short, if you want a racing simulator pass on the game. If you want a racing arcade game then its a lot of fun and I would purchase it again. For me playing multiplayer with friends is the best in Grid 2019 when compared to the other options.

AI
The AI can be pretty challenging especially with the new nemesis model where if you race aggressively, it's gonna come back bite you back in the ass. Although personally I only felt the challenge at higher difficulties so if you want some more action make sure to put it at hard or higher.
Gameplay
The cars feels like they're straight outta AutoSport, but felt a little more arcady which is definitely in the roots of the original Grid. Tuning is a huge plus ever since it was implemented in AutoSport. It allows you to fine tune how your car works if you didn't like it's default setting. Sometimes your customized tuning doesn't really work for other maps so you have to change it everytime and test it on a hot lap.
My suggestion for the devs would be to allow individual car tuning be saved for each map so we don't have to this again later. But sometimes I find fun in finding the right settings again.
Career Mode
The Career mode is sort of... interesting? and quite straightforward. All current and future events are already laid out and you can play back the previous ones. I believe this is a good thing for me since I can restart events that I didn't place first place in or wanted to break the record time. However not having the rest of the season DLCs makes the vanilla career pretty bland, so if you have some extra dosh try to buy the deluxe edition.
Others
Music
The menu music is actually soothing and kinda gives of that chill vibe after every race. Makes me feel to just take a break after each game by just listening to the music for a few hours
Multiplayer
Played multiplayer a couple of times only because it was difficult to find existing sessions in Asia. When I tried a proper one, it was amazing; there was no lag, flashback is kinda instant, and you get to show off your car livery.

Overall, I give it a solid 9/10. Some more DLC would make the game feel more complete with a more flush multiplayer would have made this a 10/10 game but is still the best racing game to come out of 2019, barely edging out NFS: Heat for the more track oriented drivers in my personal opinion. This game is a solid play at $30 and a total bargain at anything at or below $15.

In 2008 Race Driver GRID released to critical acclaim and was a commercial success. The game looked impressive for the time and the very well structured career mode, taking you through a variety of disciplines and tracks, is regarded as one of the best in the genre. The game got two sequels and both of them missed the marks. GRID 2 was over the top arcade, with cars drifting everywhere, GRID Autosport was a half baked attempt to return to form, but an uninspired single player career, lack of marketing and a barebones multiplayer component made it yet another flop.
It would take five years for this series to get a new entry, however it's pretty much clear that those were not five years of development time, maybe six months at most. The first sign of a lack of dev time is the amount of recycled content. I wouldn't mind it if it were good or thematically cohesive, but seeing the same inaccurate tracks and mishmash of cars isn't a good indicator of quality. Why is there a 350Z between modern GT4 cars? Why did you reuse the same horrible Brands Hatch, that doesn't even remotely resemble the real thing? Even with the recycled content the game still has a tiny car roster and bad track selection and yet, somehow, the game weighs more than the rest of the franchise COMBINED at a whopping 78 GB.
The singleplayer career is like Autosport, but less grindy. It's just a series of random races divided into four disciplines + the invitational category which hosts a mix of cars (mostly historical). The races are boring if you're not playing at very hard, in which case they just become frustrating as the AI has zero problems ramming you wide in corners. They once again removed tyre wear, there is no fuel consumption, therefore pitstops are completely gone (again). Pitstops used to be a thing in the Toca games, why not reintroduce them?
The driving model is simply bad. Playing without assists the cars have really strange cornering, if you upset the car (which is pretty easy considering how bad the wheel lockup is while braking) and hit the grip limit you're absolutely dead if you don't lift in time. The cars also seem to pivot somewhere in the middle and not on the front wheels, but that's merely a feeling so don't quote me on that.
While the GRID games were never really renown for the customization, the first game had a very rudimental livery editor, with preset liveries that you could recolour and you could choose your sponsors (which was also a career mechanic, as sponsors had different objectives and payouts. Once again, a feature completely gone in GRID 2019). GRID 2 expanded on that allowing you to change wheels. 2019 returns to the 2009 editor, but without even letting you to change your sponsors. Was it that hard to implement something you already made for the past games? Besides, having such a limited livery editor is simply laughable for a 2019 racing game, considering that even GT Sport features a fully fledged livery editor.
The multiplayer was dead on arrival, the peak playercount is barely 1k and the game struggles to stay at 100 average daily players. There is no matchmaking based on car categories, quick races are randomized tracks and cars with AI filling in the remaining slots, which doesn't play well with the randomized grids. Someone may start in pole while you're dead last, the game doesn't give a damn. Of course, you can host your own lobbies, but good luck finding anyone to play with.
In conclusion, I find it jarring that Codemasters, a studio that has an impressive track record of simcade racing games, ultimately came up with such a disappointing cash grab. The only positive note is that their optimization wizardry is still strong, as the game runs at a rock solid 60 FPS at high settings in 1080p on my aging i5 3550/GTX970 system, but that's just because of the engine it's running on.

Lacks content & tracks & some of its features are literally locked to a dead system (stadia lmfao)
Game might look good but when the cars handles like they are on ice & time attack cars are DRIFITNG through corners when in reality they should be able to take corners flat out. Same with the GT Cars.
Game is a joke. Should have spent the money they wasted on Alonso on the game instead.

I like to think I can drive but I'm not a racer, more of a what's my next goal to unlock more stuff I want to play around with. It wasn't so long ago I fired up GRID2 for a race and then re-attempted autosport, ... yeah I drive for fun on my PC or to get from A to B in real life.... so gave autosport a favourable dislike in my memory.
Well to stop rambling. It is GRID; It is good NOW with added reflections and shadows to make you go WOW before you hit that wall at the next apex.
WOW pretty. Who thought flipping a 300k+ car and scraping all the paint from one side could feel SO GOOD!!

I've beaten the career mode on default settings (though I also beat the Alonso races with Very Hard AI, I simply had to!), playing the game for just over three days, completing every objective except for the milestones (I don't care for them) and unlocking every achievement except for Aound the Globe (because frankly it's a waste of time unless I get to play this game online with friends). Here's what I think:
+ Driving dynamics are, as expected, a great blend of arcade and sim. Previous GRID players and players of games like Forza Horizon will feel right at home.
+ Good car, track, and career content for the money.
+ Car customization is simple, but it's still a nice feature.
- Teammates in career are kinda stupid.
- Couldn't find multiplayer races; if you want to play online be prepared to get the game with friends.
- Some technical issues: occasionally the game will crash due to a DX12 issue and in races with multiple events, qualifying will not work after the first race. From the second race onwards, even if I qualified in 1st by a wide margin, the game would start me in 16th.
Overall, decent racer, decent GRID entry. If you're on the fence, get it on sale. You may also consider trying the previous entries, GRID 2 and GRID Autosport, since those seem to still be popular online.

The car list is ok, the tracks... well, they are the same ones from the previous games, only less. What bugs me is there no modes that have been a staple of the series like drift or togue. I'd look past that, maybe wait till they add more content, but the driving physics is really not fun. Grid 1 was arcade but believable, Grid 2 was arcade but too slidy, Autosport was arcade but on the more realistic side and probably most fun since Grid 1.
But this new game... I've been playing this with no assists to get the proper experience. Cars either have too much grip or spin mid-corner for no reason, counter-steering is very hard if you start going sideways as some cars tend to snap to the other side with no indication. It's really weird, on the one hand cars feel very planted almost glued to the track, on the other hand, some older cars tend to loose grip and go into the wall without any indication. The worst thing is breakin - you can just mash that brake, and the car will slow down and make the corner, even when going way too fast and in the rain.
Performance is good and graphics are nice, though I feel like the engine had better presentation and performance in Dirt Rally, which is an older game.
This game just feels uninspired, they could have made something great here, but it feels like they went for a quick cash crab. I'll take Grid Autosport over this any time and Grid 1... well no point in even saying it's better even if it looks dated.
Not really that bad of a racing game to be honest, but for Grid title this is a huge disappointment.

The real negative point is the price, the Ultimate version should be the normal version at a decent price of 40 dollars IMO.

As a SIM racer ((Fanatec Rig, ACC, RF 2 etc) who still plays Grid 2 I am more than happy to recommend this game for simmer and gamer alike.
The graphics are decent, the FFB provides adequate detail of what the car is doing on the track and can be dialled into your liking.
The car detail is superb with each having there own distinct driving character and the weather system is enjoyable ( the rain effects are amazing).
The tracks are rendered well with a decent range to suit the differing specialities.
What you need to remember, this is an arcade style racer and comes with all the bells and whistles you would expect from Codemasters. The good news is all the arcade style feedback can be turned off to suit your sim sensibilities or vice versa if that's your bag.
What I'm not interested in is the Nemsis system and the diverse nature of the commentators/ engineer just don't feel they add anything to the game.
Overall a great driving game that has the ability to provide fun and test your skill on the track.
This game is cheap enough for the super duper version so you don't need to worry about the DLC shtuff.
IMO not really deserving of some of the flack it gets. BUY IT!!

This new handling system still has a long way to go, especially when it comes to cornering. You feel like you lose the freedom to drive when cornering.
I played all the Grid and I all liked them except this one. The day they improve this driving system like the old one, or generate that freedom of driving, they will have my positive vote.

+ Runs 60fps on Ultra setting with my old i7 2600k system with gtx 1070.
+ AI felt good enough to race as compared to annoying AI in previous Grid games
- Anti Aliasing has a certain blurry effect which will take getting used to.
- Lacks content and game modes. If available in future as DLC, that will be another negative :)
- Multiplayer is drought for such a recent game
- A burden of data not worth the end result. It is a whopping ~65gb game while Grid 2 / GAS with less than half of that still looks in comparison with loads of content.

GRID 2019 has no garage, well, a small one for the mechanics, and it is quite minimalistc but the graphics are great and the driving is very satisfying.
My old G25 on the even older Fanatec Wheelstand smiled when i got rid of the dust and does a excellent job after so many years.
Nice force feedback and steering also provided from the game and the wheel.
Cockpit view ON and go!
On Xbox Controller it plays great too.
Don´t hesitate ... Fasten seat belts and start the engine Ladies and Gentlemen. Recommended!

First things first, the AI are still massive cement blocks that are not movable, they touch you: you die, you touch them: you die.
The difference in some of the track pace from AI is just absurd, one race they might be quick af, the other will be slower than Yuji Ide.
Wouldn't recommend buying this game not even on the biggest discount, because it's just a massive disappointment from a company that definitely knows better than just stuff a bunch of a microtransactions into a series that was made great by the original Grid
