Nach der Auswahl des eigenen Charakters findet man sich in einem Dungeon wieder. Ziel ist es, sich durch die verschiedenen Kammern zu kämpfen, Horden höllischer Kreaturen zu bezwingen und zahlreiche Herausforderungen zu bestehen. In jedem Dungeon gibt es eine Reihe von Gegenständen, die die Energie eines Kämpfers wiederherstellen, Türen öffnen und die Chancen der Spieler mit magischen Relikten deutlich verbessern, durch die die Helden Gauntlet länger überstehen. Die gegnerischen Reihen bilden sich aus Fantasy-Monstern wie Geistern, Grunts, Dämonen, Spinnen, Zauberern, und Skelettkriegern.

übles kackspiel, man erspielt sich 40k gold um sich ein müll-gimmick zu kaufen. langweiliges , einfaches spiel, welches man sich getrost sparen kann.
ach ja, Mapdesign wohlmöglich aus dem Kindergarten geklaut.
Lieber würde ich mir meinen kleinen Zeh am Bettkasten stoßen als dafür nochmal Geld auszugeben.

If you liked Dark Legacy (like I do), give this a hard pass. It's nothing like when the franchise peaked and it never will be.

We need the return of the four-player party RPG now more than ever, and this wasn't it. Nothing describes my immeasurable disappointment upon trying to stomach this for the few friends of mine that never played the previous games but loved this.

Midway is dead, and Gauntlet died with it.

I was expecting something more like Dark Legacy, but this has great replay value. Each character is unique to play and makes for excellent multiplayer if you have a good friend to play. My ping is also very high w satellite internet and this is one of the smoothest multiplayer games i've played hands down.

It's one of the best co-op games i've ever played.
Only rivaled by maybe EDF, Deep Rock Galactic or Helldivers (which is also an Arrowhead game)

Extremely well balanced classes and difficulties
Each class has a very different style of play and varying degrees of complexity to their gameplay
Perfectly playable solo

I always gravitate back to this game after playing any ARPG like PoE or Diablo, because at some point, those become nothing more than a numbers game.
Whats that? You didn't invest in the right skills? You didn't follow someone else's guide? Guess what, you now deal no damage and are killed in one hit. Hit the books, idiot.

In Gauntlet you have all the Power right from the get go. 90% of unlockables are horizontal upgrades, only changing the style of play but not the outright power of your character.

The one thats getting better in those games is YOU, not your character.

Maybe I've got the nostalgia glasses, but I had hoped for a grand adventure Like the good ol days of Dark Legacy. there were more characters, better map variety, just a far more interesting time. I had expected this game to grow with more DLC and adventures. Instead it's a bit of a farm fest to dress up your characters.

BUT, it's still a pretty fun time with some relative difficulty. Grab a 4-pack while its on sale and maybe you and your friends will enjoy this far more than I did.

It is exactly what you think the game will be. It isn't deep. It isn't rich. It isn't filled with lore. It isn't game-changing. It isn't many things. What it is, however; is simple, entertaining, easy to pick up, and one of the best games to kill some time with. It is a solid 7 out of 10. And I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for something easy while you're in between the big AAA games.

Never got o play it before it was the Slayer Edition, but I played it when it was given out on PS+ on PS4 and enjoyed it a lot there. It's not the most amazing game, but it's some solid dungeon crawler fun to be had. I just wish the necromancer would go on sale more often. Paying more for one character than you did the whole game feels silly.

I loved Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy. I've played them through again and again; on console and in arcades

This game is nothing like those games. it's just not fun. i feel no sense of progress or accomplishment, just grind for grinding.

It's an OK casual game. The levels are lackluster, there are no transfering of items from level to level so you do not have that sense of personal progression, no personal skill leveling system.

Final boss was pretty cool, was hoping that every boss was complicated and/or intense like this one. Many levels just dragged on.

Played coop the entire way through, I don't see how anybody plays melee in this game.

Its gauntlet and is fun has good art and music and the occasional quip nicely acted. The glaring fault with this remake is that it all over the place. Sometimes it is an easy grind fest, others it is impossibly hard. The destructible objects are mostly empty. Food is laid out rarely, and surrounded by objects to break for gold that destroys the food. I played the warrior class. It is the weakest; glassy warrior I've ever played in any game. The developers clearly have had issues with game balance. weapons armor and items are a useless joke and too few. The skills suck because they take a long time to regenerate. You run in circles until they are recharged then repeat. I'd add a combo system that refreshes skills or allows for mowing mobs. Lobbies seem dead, and there are a few bosses that need multiplayers to quickly defeat. Even still this game is a nostalgia trip and worth it on sale.

Gauntlet is a good game, however - I was hoping it was gonna be more like Gauntlet Legends or Dark Legacy. This is obviously a re-imagining of the original 4 player arcade Gauntlet which it does well in capturing Gauntlet's essence but it also falls short in some ways as well. I really feel like the Warrior is just awful in comparison to the rest of the cast, which is very unfortunate because that has always been my go to in Gauntlet. Yes he has more health but having purely melee attacks and no shield like the Valkyrie makes it sooooo easy to die even with the bonus health. I eventually just ended up playing Elf and Wizard only. Even when you play online people will join your lobbies and immediately leave because warrior is the only slot open. I do like this game and if you're a fan of hack and slash and have a few buddies that are willing to grab it while it is on sale its a fun game. Very short though.

One player buys it, and invites three friends to play it through Remote Play Together, and everyone involved has a great trip down memory lane. It's the classic Gauntlet, just as you remember it, and just as much fun today as it was when you first played it as a kid n the arcades.

I have fond memories of playing Gauntlet as a kid. This version captures the essence of the arcade game and modernizes it in a way that still honors the original. It's a button-mashing dungeon crawl, and that was always the point of Gauntlet - it's sword and sorcery. I'm very happy they didn't try to turn it into some save-the-world, high fantasy, Zelda knockoff, which was probably a tempting consideration for the developers but inappropriate for this franchise. I'm also happy that they included both endless and quest options to choose from. The endless campaign is closer in spirit to arcade games. As someone who played a 5-hour long Gauntlet II game on the NES back in the 90's, only to find out the hard way that there WAS NO ENDING, it was gratifying to see some sort of conclusion in this version.

More complex than the previous ones.
Difficult. Hard to master.
Some bad ideas like dark corridors (fortunately they are few) but also some excellent like the different spells you can combine.
A classical revisited without modifying its essence. Pure arcade. Probably even better playing with friends.
I personally really enjoy this game and can only recommend it when it is on sales at 75% like today.

A mediocre co-op action game with a few connections to the old arcade game. You can play as the warrior, valkyrie, elf, wizard, and a DLC necromancer with each character having a main and alternate attack, a special attack based on their weapon, a special attack if they pick up a blue potion to charge it, and a token that can activate an ability. There is a small number of short pre made levels, acquired gold is saved to buy from the small number of different weapons each character has. I found the gold pretty useless as the main weapons seemed to have the best ability on the characters I saw and the cheapest token seemed to have the most useful ability. Enemy types are limited and fighting enemies and bosses is fairly dull. You are almost never being overwhelmed by enemies like you would be with the original game though levels do often put you in fights against enemy spawning machines. Food can be found for health, or destroyed if shot. Some levels change things up a bit with minor busywork like pulling switches to direct flows of lava.

Nothing really positive to say about it. Combat is dull, character options are limited, stage design is linear, it is short and easy making replays to get gold as other characters less interesting, and the small variety of mostly dull weapon abilities makes getting other equipment a lot less interesting than it could have been.

Definitely not the Gauntlet I remember. No leveling. Everything seems identical--room to room. Just gave me that get-it-over-with-so-I-can-move-on-to-the-next-game feeling. Really could have done something awesome with this game. Totally uninspired.

Nothing like the great Dark Legacy much less it's not even anything close to Sorrows. The damn Reaper consistently following you is FAR BEYOND OBNOXIOUS, the fact that you HAVE to find mana potions to charge up your ability and then dealing with the mobs PLUS the Reaper is very annoying. Atp just please bring back a Dark Legacy Remake!?

Oh man I loved gathering around the N64 for some Gauntlet back in the day. This reboot does a great job capturing that nostalgia while adding some neat new twists. It's a fairly simple action RPG but you really should try it!

The latest iteration in a popular beloved franchise. Slayer Edition however is a complete reworking of the previous version of the game. A point of controversy for many fans that bought the game before 2016. The most notable change being the removal of masteries which gave you player stat boosts and buffs. Now you just get gold to buy shiny cosmetics in their place. While it's disappointing I wouldn't call it a deal breaker.

You play as the regular cast of returning Gauntlet characters; the Blue Valkyrie, the Red Warrior, the Yellow Wizards, the Green Archer, and a newcomer to this version the Purple Necromancer. Each character can be customized with weapons, relics, and amulets that switch up the style of gameplay a bit.

Grab some friends and dive deep into the Gauntlet to see what riches and horrors await you the further down you go. And after you've beaten the story campaign tackle Endless mode and the Colosseum to test your strength and endurance.

I've played both the arcade version and the Apple IIe version. While I can't say it holds the exact charms of the coin op this is much better than the original computer release way back when and - I feel - a better execution than at least one or two other remakes somewhere in between.

Play 1 of 4 classes with strengths and weaknesses, wander dungeons toward a final encounter, gather loot and power-ups along the way while you off mobs of baddies. In the latter's regard that's what sets it above the coin-op version, although my nostalgic mind's eye says the visual details present in the arcade classic looked crisper. It doesn't sound possible from a game from 1985 but that's what I remember.

This title, like the original, has some iconic lines - a la 'warrior is about to die!' It's also a fair tribute to the multiplayer 4P side by side action, akin to original in the same vein of titles like Left 4 Dead. I purchased and enjoyed the DLC class; it wasn't OP but it added different dimensions.

There's a story in here somewhere, but you could imagine it in its entirety without a lot of effort. This isn't a game one plays for the story. This is a game one plays to kill mobs of baddies with difficulties that stage up during play - even better with buddies.

Buy this title if you remember the original and want a decent enough advancement of that game. $20 seems fair for such a purchaser. Buy it if you'd like arcade-like goodness and have three other friends to play with. If you're unsure wait for a sale. Sure, it's grindy and repetitive but it saves your progress so you can always go back at it later on if you're down for a map or two per session.

Arrowhead knows a thing or two about top down action games. Just look at Magicka, Helldivers...these guys seriously know their s h i t. This is the first game of theirs i bought and to this day after many years of fun, i can still come back fire it up and have a blast with this game and the others mentioned. Waiting for another installment in this universe.

Gauntlet rules. I play this game over all other games. If you want to see a retro game on steriod in all its glory, then this game is for you. Old school fantasy dungeon crawl with infinity dungeons and campaign to boot. How to play this game: A quick mind, fast hands and a good controller if you play that way. This isn't about the highest level spell or skill makes you better, this game requires conditioning and training old school style. Like watching the masters play gauntlet on their last bit of life, hearing Elf you are about to die, to give it that reminder and edge to your ever rising arcade talents.

This game is a ton of fun playing through the campaign with your friends. It is very challenging even on normal difficulty when you have a full team and very rewarding when you beat a challenging level. It looks amazing when running it with helixvision and playing it in VR.

The Gauntlet Series has always had a special place in my heart. My first introduction to the series was Dark Legacy, which my brother and I would play for hours on end in the arcades or on the PS2. Gauntlet 2014 has definitely been successful in capturing that magic I felt back then. Despite how short the campaign or maybe the repetition of endless, as long as you have friends to play with, you can stretch the replayability as far as you'd like. Worth picking up on sale, and grab a few copies for your buddies.

Got it at release and barely played since none of friends liked games like these. Kind of complicated game that rewards team play as you depend on other classes to solve puzzles and advance. Wasn't as interesting solo. Looked great in screens and trailers showed it in better colors but for me turned out another game I shelved to collect dust. Don't know how things are in 2020/1, hopefully people still enjoy it. Try it if you like co-op hack & slashers with puzzles. :]

This was a nice Gauntlet game. But things changed when [strike] the fire nation attacked [/strike] they released the Slayer Edition and basically replaced 3/4s of the game with a new, dumbed down version. Like, after Slayer edition came out, I'd rather play Gauntlet Legends on PS1 (which is the worst version of [b] that [b] game) than this. Heck, I'd probably rather spend potentially a half hour getting Gauntlet II on NES to work and solo play that, than Slayer edition.

It might be worth the 75% off price (5 USD) at best, but it's really not worth your attention if you enjoyed any Gauntlet game, especially the likes of Dark Legacy.

A simple, but really nice coop game!

You've got 3 different modes (story, colosseum, infinity) and 4 playable characters (+ 1 DLC character), each of them slightly customisable. Mechanics are pretty simple, with only a few different types of attacks for each character, but it works well enough, and for some characters (wizard) they can be difficult to master.

As a solo game, I wouldn't rate it very high as it gets repetitive quickly, but with a few friends, the adventure is a lot more interesting, as there is no joy greater than letting them do all the fighting (and dying) while you rush to that much-needed gold chest...

There is enough enemy variety for things to stay interesting for the whole story mode. Then you have the infinity mode if you want to keep going!

As coop games go, this one is a winner!

It's a lot more polished than the olde school gauntlet, but still has a lot of the great hack and slash fun. It's simple, but a great romp, well worth the price if you've got folks to play it with and if you get it during a sale.

This game isn't good. It's a rogue like, but the value of gold is too insignificant to warrant upgrades after you die. You're easily swarmed and for some reason the melee character can't block. There's also no signifacant growth in power like say with gauntlet 64

Definitely enjoyable, with a caveat. You need to play in a decent group, and when i mean decent, I don't just mean skill. You need to play with people who do not hoard all the resources on the map.

A great mini top-down coop game where your control one of the five characters (Wizard, Warrior. Elf, Necro and Valk).

The Good

+ Unique selection of characters - (Each has their own skills and weapons)
+ Great Coop gameplay - short story mode that can be finished in 3-4 hours but also has an endless mode if you want more
+ Has difficulty selection
+ Can be simple but gameplay has depth (lots of unlockables per character)

The Bad

- The camera can be janky (all four characters need to be in the same screen)
- Individual gold for each character - You need to use them to unlock stronger weapons
- Some talismans feel underwhelming
- Needs more characters. The 4 basic + 1 DLC characters get stale after you play a lot of hours.

All in all, I would recommend this game if you like top-down games or if you're looking to play a new game with the boys. :)

This game is such a fun experience, albeit mostly with friends. if you can get at least a 3 player game going, you will have the time of your life. Sad that this game doesnt get updated, but still incredible how it manages to still be good anyway

I'd be happy if I paid like 5$ for this game, but no more. I expected a LOT more world/maps/quests/EVERYTHING for what I paid. If you bought this because you were nostalgic for the N64 version or the arcade version, do not buy this game. It has a fraction of the world in it that those games had, I regret this nostalgic purchase.

Gosh darn I wanted to love this game. At least like it. I got 2 other friends to buy it. (luckily at 50% off). Played it once. They will never go back to it.

I would give it another try, but there is a reason With Friends, played it one time. Solo, played it one time. It just didn't cut it.

Looks good. Plays fairly smooth.

From memory it was the mundane monotony, and underwhelming gameplay. All the features are there at face value, but it did not deliver in enjoy-ability, and isn't that where it counts?

Really wanted to like it. Dag-nammit.

Developer removed content from base game and downgraded what was there so it would work on consoles. Unacceptable practice that is akin to theft. Restore 1.0 content for PC users.

A lot of fun with friends! After a rocky release, the devs completely overhauled the game and created a great game that you can sink some time into. At $5 on sale, this game is a steal.

Bought the game, and on day 1 put 3.8 hours into it. Its a really fun game that can run on high graphics. Even if your pc is a piece of garbage it will run at high graphics with solid FPS. $20 well spent. Unfortunately after playing it I can't seem to get it to run on my pc anymore. I was running it just fine at 100FPS with high graphics, and now the game won't even launch. It appears other people are running into this issue. Not sure if theyre trying to fix it or not. When I click the desktop shortcut it takes me to the steam store with gauntlet as if I don't own the game, even when I try to launch it from the store it just redirects me to the top of the store and makes it reload.

Brings the old Gauntlet game to the new age. Fairly short campaign but plenty of replayability with multiple heroes to play as and plenty of abilities and some cosmetics to unlock. Just like any other isometric ARPG combat gets repetitive with some variance as you progress through levels and into new areas but if you don't like that kind of gameplay you probably aren't reading this review wondering if you want this game.

Great games to play with friends. My computer is low spec but I'm able to run it without too many problems. Can get a little confusing when a lot is happening on screen - I often lose the location of my character because the colour representing my character (light blue) is pretty pale. Still, it's a lot of fun and I'd recommend it.

I DIG IT!

I originally played Gauntlet on the NES when I was a kid. This game is a modernized version but don't make the mistake of thinking that it is a lot easier. With three difficulty levels and a ton of upgrades uniquely added for each of the 4 characters, there is a large variety of strategy based on the dungeon type you find yourself in. The solo experience in particular is the most challenging and will take some time to unlock content and experiment to find the best combinations for your favorite character. The time that you put in will reward you through this progression. If you are looking for a game to challenge yourself solo or play together with some friends, consider Gauntlet as a worthy experience. Game on.

Gauntlet is a fantastic Team dungeon game. Endless levels and never to a difficulty that is insanely impossible. Always seems to dangle the carrot far enough but close enough to keep you playing the next hundred levels. A few other different modes for people who like story and evolution of play to a point. Fun to mix it up and play with the noobs in those modes. Awesome character combinations/skills/etc. Just wish they would add objects, crafting, or maybe moves/skills that two team members could combine attack for an epic reign of DESTRUCTION... or anything new really. good game, easy buy and great value.

Gauntlet is a great 2-4 player co-op game! It could be played solo, but I don't recommend that.

Pros:
- good variety of characters
- interesting ways to upgrade/sidegrade your characters
- a wide variety of enemies makes each encounter different depending on the enemy composition

Cons:
- no real story
- main campaign is short (takes less than 10 hours to complete)
- loot isn't shared between players

Easily worth the money as is the Necromancer expansion for those wanting more. Potentially hours and hours of play, I could play this forever it's so addictive. Works solo, local co-op and online too, both public and private. Playable with keyboard & mouse but better with a controller. Various game modes too: campaign, endless & colosseum. It's a blast and the community is really friendly. A shame the in-game items are not more balanced but that's the only negative.

Gauntlet™ Slayer Edition is a top down, hack and slash, dungeon crawler. It's fun enough, more fun if you play with friends. The graphics are alright. Combat is your normal hack and slash. The levels are detailed, but kind of simple, if that makes sense. I don't think it's wroth $20 at all, so wait for a $10 or lower sale. And I give this a 5/10.

Great to play with friends in local or online coop!
There are a lot of levels that you can play in different difficulties, so it gives you some challenges and/or the opportunity to do them with all difficulties level!
You can play different races and have their gear upgraded with the gold you get.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS...

Simple No BS hack n' slash dungeon crawling adventure with an isometric perspective. Graphics are nice and solid, the levels are detailed and progressively get more difficult rather quickly. However, I wouldn't say it is worth over $8... wait for a sale?
