The way the devs arranged this game is rather broken, it doesn't work...there's no fair balance here. The toxic players will always continue to ruin other players like me.
I will never play this game again.

This game is great, theres nothing else quite like it, of course every game isnt perfect but for what it aims for, this is one of the closest games you will get to it.
However, lately, alts and griefing has seem to ramp up in the last few months, but SURELY the devs would at least make a statement on the matter right?
Wrong, oh you sweet summer child, I wish I was lying about what I just said, I really do! But to be frank, we havent heard a single statement from the devs about addressing a issue already too big. We get constant updates, but they're always more of a massive middle finger to the guys at logi than helpful. But the alting/griefing problem has reached a point where god knows why a finger hasnt been lifted to fix this issue. Any complaint on the matter has either been deleted, or completely, and utterly ignored. I love this game, I mostly love this community, but I cant love the current actions taken torwards alting/griefing.
If you really love this genre then by all means, buy it. But buy it on sale because with devs that arent willing to outline steps to fix a major problem, at full price you might as well mark this as a scam.

So as a new player you will be super confused what to do , where to go , why you don't have any weapon or ammo and so on. You might feel a bit useless but that's not the case in this game because even if you do something little it will still effect the war. Don't get scared and try to learn the basics because it will be worth it in the end. Most of the community i've saw is really helpful if you write in the main team chat at least 2-3 people will text you back to help but i suggest you playing this game with a mic because the experience is 100x times better.
There is alot of content in the game you can basically do everything that you can do in a war. Be an infantryman, tank operator , radio operator , medic and many more , you can go and drive a truck supplying the front line with basically everything you want. If you don't like driving you can deliver the stuff with ships to the ports. if you don't like to be a delivery boy you can go salvage scrap go get materials which you can produce weapons , shells , ammo , buildings and much more!
So in general there is something to do in the game for every kind of player so i highly suggest you to buy this game. Its super fun if you play with friends and do the stuff together but its quite easy to find some good people in the game aswell.
There are a few negatives that i've saw which are a few bugs from time to time (nothing that breaks the game)
and some of the big clans in the game might be toxic to new players which is whatever because you can mute whoever you want in the game and continue having fun.

There's lots to do and everything is needed for the war effort. Great game to pick up for an hour here and there or get dedicated for hours and hours until you notice it's 4am and you got work in 2 hours.
Some people can be toxic but tell them they need hugs and to take a break. <3

The first is that the battles can be a ton of fun, but most of them are just sitting at a bridge shooting at anything that moves on the other side of the river and dying constantly. The bridges in this game end up being where the most fighting happens and those fights are boring as hell.
The second reason is that the people who play this game can be incredibly toxic elitists. The first of these I ran into was a high ranking guy who ran up to a squad I was part of as we were organizing to get behind the enemy and potentially break a major stalemate. He wanted to have us do something but we already had a leader and a plan so we told him we were busy. Then he followed us as we attacked, and as we made contact he shot half the squad in the back because we didn't do what he said. The last toxic player I ran into was using region chat to tell the entire map that anyone who didn't have 200 hours in the game shouldn't even think about crewing tanks. Like, that's the level of braindead elitism that some of these people operate at. There isn't a mechanic in the game that can't be explained in five minutes, yet there are people gatekeeping everything from using vehicles to what guns to use.
It could become a pretty awesome game, but not without some serious moderation and some simple design changes.

Also comms reputation system upvote/downvote needs to be disabled or reworked to prevent abuse and muting/brigading.
Game is very promising, but collectives and clans need to be checked otherwise its not something that a person should commit too, and the game asks you to commit.

My first experience was joining a regiment and participating in the preparation for a huge naval assault. Well, the back line had not been protected so I got to participate in a complete disaster instead. The Colonials pushed up and destroyed everything.
Fast forward a month or two to today. I joined one of the many front lines that is constantly going on in the game. This one was on the East side, at Allod's Bright.
I started a squad with three people, and we joined dozens of others (including tanks) in a back and forth battle for a city. The enemy had tanks and infantry, we had tanks and infantry. As the battle progresses, more and more people join my squad until there are 25-30 people in my squad. I am commanding 25-30 people. Me. No joke. I tell them to get their guns, they follow me, we hold positions, we listen to the tank crews. Slowly, we lose our position (a house that I jokingly referred to as my vacation house before the war), and get pushed back. Our base had bunkers and stuff around it, and something equivalent to a no-man's land between it and the last position. There was no hope of holding, so we formed a wall of people and tanks at the bunker line.
We hold, then the spot we had been gathering wounded and beds got shelled by artillery. Gone. Just like that. We ran out of supplies to respawn at our bunker base at the same time, so no more reinforcements. Then, artillery started RAINING. The bunker base was destroyed, everything else was destroyed. Everyone either died or fell back. I respawned, and it was the end of my night. My huge squad had a lot of fun. We wished each other farewell, cursed at the enemy, saluted each other, and said it was an honor serving with each other. Then we disbanded, all 30 of us, and I went to bed.
Now I wrote this review. This game is intense when it comes to team work. Sure, sometimes the controls are hard, there's toxic stuff sometimes happening, all that sort. Just don't be dumb, don't make people mad. It's the teamwork that keeps me playing. It's the intense large scale war, knowing the little stuff counts, and every single Colonial I kill that makes this so fun. I say don't put a lot of emotional investment in any game and you'll have fun.
10/10, would recommend. Put an end to the Colonials for me, some two hour commander who helped in one of thousands of battles.

In the current state I can't recommend to buy it for 1 very simple reason. The banning system is broken.
You come across 1 member of a huge clan that doesn't like you, welcome to constant false bans and inability to play the game, due to them mass reporting you.
This in itself can make the game unplayable for an entire war.

1. Mass reporting and harassment is a huge problem for anyone in game. You do something a clan doesn`t like and don`t listen to them? Be prepared to get banned for a couple of hours, or for days, because you will ge reported every time they see you again.
2. Players use alternative accounts to grieve and spy your base to get an advanage just before inbound attacks.
3. Cheats, yeah they exist.
4. Devs will remove your game feedback from discord, when mentioning alternative accounts/grievers/cheaters they dont care about that (happened not only to me).
5. The reporting system is severely flawed.
Despite this you can have fun. Enough to recommend it to a new player? I don`t know. Decide for yourself.
I will keep playing it. Addiction i guess. Otherwise i would have quit already.

-People who will teach you how to play the game if you simply ask.

Game good!
In Foxhole you will:
Die from Bullets
Die from Shells
Die from Friendly Fire
Die from standing in front of a mortar
Die from being run over by a friendly truck
Die from being run over by a enemy vehicle
Die from Bayonet Charge
Die from Arty
Die from Gas
Die from Nades
Die from being shot in the back, while carrying too much.
Die from drowning
Die from standing in front of an Anti Tank gun
Die from laughing your ass off
[in no particular order]
After 3 years, I returned to Foxhole to be amazed how it has changed in a very positive way.
From playing a couple of hours and visiting different theaters of war, I firmly can conclude that Foxhole has reignited my attention.
I spent four hours fighting on a bridge and doing some Logi , which it seems boring, when in reality, it was actually really enjoyable experience.
It seems that communication has improved a lot, although I do not like being not able to see Squad Members on the Map, or at least an indicator. This lead to a couple of frustrating moments, because as a Squad Lead there is no way to see where your squad members are??? But members see the leaders position... I don't get that design choice, but oh well. Some glitchyness is still happening here and there, so be warned.

However. This game has been greatly damaged by feature creep. The game now has asymmetric technology which means teams get different weapons and vehicles. This sounds fine in theory. But in practice it is hard to balance and the devs do not seem capable of balancing. You will see faction specific technology give one side a serious advantage resulting in several IRL days worth of unbearable gameplay before the roles switch and the other side gets stomped. This make the game annoying to play half the time and then pointless feeling the other half.
The game also sees devs meddling to prolong wars. This recent war, the devs added a 50 second respawn timer when we were making good progress. Then when we made another successful push, the devs added a 60 second respawn and kept it for 2 days until we were pushed back, even keeping it during low population. This killed any enthusiasm I had. It's clear the devs have ways to nudge the war in a direction they want, removing agency from the players.
I'd say keep your eye on this one if you're interested. Wait a year or two and take the criticism seriously. Even if you purchase now and enjoy it, you may find the devs change everything you liked about it.

There's simply far too many balance issues the developers don't seem to take very seriously and move very slowly to fix but by far the biggest issue the game has is the ability for literally one person with too much time and too much money to ruin entire wars for everyone by simply buying multiple accounts. Do they ban people if they get caught? Sometimes, sure, but it's not a solution to the actual problem and now they want to increase the price of the game in the near future? That's fucked up because they have no incentive to fix the actual issue which is the way the tech in the game works and people cheating makes them money and them making money off people who cheat gives them no incentive to fix it.
For example, you could buy and create a fresh account, join the opposing faction and just run around to the engineering centers, public refineries and public stockpiles and collect any of the tech materials that may be sitting there, grab them, and go drop them in a bush somewhere or in water which literally ruins the game for everyone but more so the faction it's being done to. People complain about it, report the person, the devs usually EVENTUALLY ban them but it doesn't solve anything because that person, if they have the money and devotion to being an asshat, can just rinse and repeat the process, but there's always several people doing it, on both sides, every war and it's simply not fun and dumb.
I also don't like how they manually change the tech trees between each war to however they see fit. I would much rather have both sides get the same static trees every war that allow the ability to tech whatever is possible for each faction and let the players decide what they want teched to use without the interference of devs because honestly they kinda suck at creating fair and balanced options.
For me personally those are the 2 most game breaking factors that make it not fun and make me unable to recommend it, but there are more. The stealing/cheating isn't limited to just tech materials, but literally anything that's not in a private stockpile. They can steal and destroy any vehicle that's just chilling or go to any bunker base and just withdraw and destroy any equipment sitting in them but the tech stealing/cheating has the greatest overall impact in my opinion.
I also don't enjoy anything in the game combat related and spend the time I do playing just doing logistical stuff because I absolutely hate that if you want to be effective and have an advantage you have to literally downgrade your aspect ratio to 4:3 and you just look and aim at the very corner of your screen.
The building in the game needs serious attention as well. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail about it because it doesn't much matter until the other stuff is fixed, but I'll just say it's boring and tedious as fuck and I'm surprised that even a few people enjoy doing it but not surprised that there's always a ton of undefended areas across the entire map on both sides because it's simply not fun or enjoyable at all to the point it's not even worth learning how to do because it's just a chore.
1.) Fix the alt/cheating problem by reworking the entire tech system so it's not possible for 1 dedicated person to ruin the entire game let alone several people, and so that the devs don't profit from cheaters.
2.) Stop making up tech trees each war. Create and settle on static tech trees that provide the option for players to tech into what they want instead of adding/removing different weapons & vehicles every other war. It's dumb and it literally takes away content that we paid for.
3.) Change the way the camera works so combat is actually fun and fair. I don't like how if you move your mouse to the edge of the screen it extends your vision range. I think locking the screen in place like Diablo or Path of Exile would make combat feel more fair and fun with the exception of using binoculars, because you can't fire a weapon while using them anyway.
4.) Building needs serious attention. It's boring, a chore and not intuitive at all.
I recommend NOT buying the game until 1 & 2 are resolved because they majorly impact the game in a negative way, especially if they plan to increase the price of the game without resolving those issues.
#3 is debatable and more of a personal preference thing I suppose, but as it stands I don't enjoy the combat and it leaves me perplexed on how others do.
#4 is irrelevant until 1 & 2 are fixed but building sucks.
Minor things that's aren't game breaking but would be very nice and welcomed quality of life changes would be more customization of regiments and squads and the ability to mark and draw out operation plans in game instead of having to take screenshots, edit them and use things like discord to set stuff up as well as the ability to regiment lock stuff as well as squad lock and include that locking ability to bunkers.
It would also be nice to be able to customize the chat box size, position, font, ability to create our own chat rooms ect. Think of World of Warcraft chat and put it in Foxhole and that would resolve that.

I cannot recommend this game until devs fix the report system abuse by clans.
Piss someone off from a clan even though they're in the wrong? They'll cry to their clan, and you get mass reported + ban within literally seconds! While you, being a relatively new player and likely without a clan, can't do sh*t to him cause your 1 report means f**k all to the devs.
Real life story:
Clan man parked his vehicle in the middle of a busy route. We're in a middle of a battle, so movement of tanks and soldiers are critical. I told clan man to park his vehicle somewhere else, and he runs me over TWICE with said vehicle instead, and refuses to move vehicle.
So I tried to remove the vehicle myself, by attempting to destroy it. Only fired 2 RPGs to damage (not destroy) and I get mass reported by his clan mates + ban in game. Meanwhile, my 1 report for him killing me twice will never ever get to see daylight.
Now how is this report system fair again?

Have I got my money’s worth out of this game? Absolutely. Will you? Probably not. I have attempted to introduce multiple friends to the game, and I’ve never been successful. Furthermore, I don’t expect to return to the game. Read on for an explanation.
For me the game has come in three phases.
Phase 1: The Top-Down Shooter
This is how I began the game. Spawn in, get gun, shoot, loot, die, repeat. I had a blast trying out all the weapons and loadouts.
The fundamental flaw is that your character can see further when looking at the top corners of your computer screen, which means if you want to be effective, you’ll be staring the very corner of your monitor for long stretches of time, trying to parse out the enemies under your UI. For this reason, if I’m feeling a top-down shooter, I’ll play something else.
Introducing players at this stage of the game is easy at first, but the experience is cut short when something frustrating happens. Maybe the respawns run out and your friend can’t easily get back to the front. Maybe there aren’t enough (public) supplies at the front to keep your friend’s interest. Maybe he gets pinned in the spawn by a friendly truck or soldiers. Maybe he does something incredibly stupid out of ignorance and gets flamed by a veteran player (I’ve been on both sides of this.) A person who isn’t in the mood to grind past all these things will not last long.
Phase 2: Logistics
Given the aforementioned disappointment in this game as a shooter, I decided to try logistics. Even though it has a learning curve, it’s rewarding to see a well-planned delivery make an impact on the front.
The critical flaw here is waiting for things to load. When you need to load your truck, you click the item and a timer begins. When the timer expires, you get the thing. Big things take more time so sometimes you’ll click a thing you need and wait a solid minute for it to appear in your inventory. No minigame, just waiting, often for minutes, not seconds. You can’t move or interact when this is happening, but you can think about what else you could be playing.
I wouldn’t dare introduce any new players to this part of the game. Logistics is simply too boring without knowledge of its impact.
Phase 3: Operations
When you know how the game works at a larger scale, you can start planning operations. I’ve had some incredible adventures. Once a Scotsman, an Australian, and myself (an American) stole an enemy ocean freighter full of supplies and gloriously sailed off into the sunset while the enemy watched helplessly from the shore. Epic.
However, the fundamental problem with operations is that your teammates all have different goals, or simply no goals at all, and this can lead to hours of planning being ruined in a matter of seconds.
Here’s an example:
Artillery operations were my favorite. I would map enemy positions on notebook paper under the cover of night, then use vector addition to calculate ranges from all howitzer positions. Next, I would need shells. I couldn’t find some poor chump to grind them for me, so I expected to spend 2-4 hours getting them there.
After 3 hours or so, and I have 40ish shells in my howitzer, all enemy positions mapped out, information support from the front. It’s been a long road, but I’m so ready, and so are the soldiers ready to push with support from the back. I go back to grab the last load from the forward base, but when I return a curious private is occupying the howitzer next to his corporal buddy who is making a futile attempt to spot targets 120 meters downrange with binoculars that can see 80 meters. Frustrated at not being able to map any targets, the private fires 3 shells randomly downrange, completely missing all but a few friendly structures. I plead them to let me on the howitzer so the operation can begin, but the private’s response is to continue to fire shells. After 20 shells, I admittedly get perturbed, pull a pistol, and take the private down. His buddy executes me in response. I respawn to what seemed be an admin or mod telling me that I need to let other people have a turn, and that team killing will result in a ban. In silence, I watch the private fire the remaining 20 shells randomly. He exits the howitzer, and the pair head towards the front. I close the game.
In conclusion, I have a lot of play time because the systems are very grindy and take a long time to understand. Much of that play time is passive where I walked away from the computer because waiting is such a massive part of the game. I had some fun times with some folks and loved learning how everything worked. However, the memorable adventures are diamonds in sea of coal, and once I came to an understanding of each part of the game, I feel that other games deliver what this game attempts to offer in a far more efficient and less frustrating way.

When I started playing the game, I spent a whole jolly day of blissful ignorance, fighting for some trenches, pushing back enemies over bridges and supplying the logistics with salvage from a liberated scrapyard.
It is a solid game which got a lot of love and detail from its devs. But it is also an MMO, and this is where it's problems start piling up:
There's a lot of very toxic and elitist players. Some of them even play on an alternative accounts, harming the opposing side from within.
People steal other players vehicles whenever they won't being watched for two minutes, veteran players enjoy completelly outplaying and murdering whole flocks of Privates for the sake of making them quit playing again and the way Foxhole plays is heavily dictated by the communities current meta.
To name an example: You like building bases? Well better don't because the enemy might just come along with a skilled machine gunner and your days work will be destroyed within the hour. (Yes single gunner in an open field>snipers in fortified positions). And don't expect anybody to rush to your help if the enemy is pushing behind your lines, because people tunnelvision so hard they don't realize there's no road for their supplies to come in anymore.
It's a great game with lots of opportunities, but once the immersion was broken for me by such a dictating meta, the game had comletelly lost it's charm.

Day 2: Defending a Safe house in a town, street to street fighting and its pretty hectic. A guy is gathering troops to go behind enemy lines to help cut off their supply lines, end up blowing up about 5 enemy trucks full of supplies before the damn wardens send tanks after us.
Day 3: Wardens are pushing into Scurvyshire, see a guy making a new bunker system to spawn from to the flank of the wardens, another dude is here and we set up in foxholes with LMG's and defend the guy making the base, its a tense hour or so but it gets on its feet. 3 hours later we have pushed the wardens back to Endless shore. Feels good man.
Day 4: Spend the day scrapping and doing logistics, delivering to the bases that I think need it most. Though not in direct action it feels extremely rewarding.
All in all this game is super fun to play, if a little infuriating at times as you cant throw in a heroic performance and wipe the enemy team and save the day. Its a team game and you need to work with every single person you play with to ensure victory. Help the guys who know less than you and listen to the guys who know more than you, they generally just want to help out the new players. Get past the bewilderment of the first few hours learning the ropes and you'll be sinking your free time into this, worth every penny.

Foxhole is a supremely unique game, allowing you to contribute to multiple wars in the game. Every person you see running around is a player and they all have their jobs and things they need to do. I highly recommend that you work together with other players by joining one of the many clans within the game or get some friends to join you. There's so much you can do in this game. Whether it's getting materials to make supplies for the frontlines, or be at the frontlines in combat with the enemy, or healing the wounded and getting them back in combat. Foxhole's greatest feat is allowing you to choose what role you want. You're not forced into any role you don't want to be apart of.
Pros:
- Foxhole gives their players a choice of what they want to do and how they contribute to the war, which is more than most games give, especially how many roles you can play as in Foxhole.
- Foxhole gives you a choice of what faction you like to join and every faction has different weapons as well as vehicles you can choose from.
- Any amount of cooperation with other players can change the tied of the battlefield. If you enjoy playing with other players and teamwork you would enjoy this.
- Foxhole's price is perfect for early access and for what it gives you. I never had any issues with the price, at least to me anyway.
- If you like lore, Foxhole has a massive amount of unexplored lore that the devs placed in wanting players to find. They also have a wiki talking about the lore and factions about Foxhole. So if you like having a background story during the wars this is also a fun thing they have.
- One last pro is the community is awesome, there's so much that the community does and makes up, yes it's a bit toxic here and there but in the end, the community is pretty cool and the devs are giving out some awesome upcoming updates.
Cons:
- Foxhole is a game that requires a massive amount of cooperation. I know I said this is a pro but to people who like to work alone this is a massive con. You can't do much on your own. All you can do on your own is send supplies to the front and just be 1 guy on the front but you'll end up dying more than anything.
- Foxhole is still in early access so there's still a bunch of bugs here and there, but I wouldn't let it ruin your experience being in a war-torn world.
- In Foxhole, there are sometimes massive queues in certain regions, so much that sometimes you'll be waiting for 10-15 minutes to get into it, there are ways around it but still a massive issue if Foxhole continues to grow. Queues happen when there are more members of a faction than the enemy side. It happens due to the server size as well. Only handing a certain amount of players.
- Another con to Foxhole is how you rank up, there's a commends system. So basically with what you do and how you do in the war, some other players will commend you which you need a certain amount to get a rank up. This is a very long process, so if people play this casually don't expect to get ranked up fast with this system. Some people will even ignore you if your rank is too small. When I was a Corporal in-game I was telling a 2ndLt and some other people that we were getting flanked but they refused to listen to me due to my low rank and they ended up getting flanked and killed by the enemy. Some people can be ignorant when it comes to those things.
Overall, Foxhole is a fantastic game that gives you so many possibilities and roles you can be, especially with every new update the devs do that makes Foxhole so much more interesting. With the cooperation of other players, you can do anything to change the tide of the war. I highly recommend you try this game and if you don't like it you can always refund, but give it a chance, also try joining one of the many clans to get the full war experience Foxhole can truly be.

it's not worth the time cause developer will not ban player that cause troble like stealing veicles, greafing, team killing (this player will be only ban for 1 hour in best case scenario even when recorded) wasting hours of farming in just a minute.
Other massive problems for the healt of the game are the alternative account create by player just so they can see the other factions map intelligence of the map.

- If you're solo, good luck to you I genuinely hope that you don't decide to quit the game like so many have.
- If you're coming from a clan, I don't care what clan it is but when you join don't get pulled into fights or arguments between clans, it's a waste of time and the people having the arguments are usually idiots
- If you've got friends who play you're in a perfect position to play the game, Roam around in a squad from 2-10 players doing whatever you guys enjoy, this game is perfectly geared for that play style and it's what the game needs more of.

Whether you want to drive logistics like a truck tycoon simulator, design and build defences, soft temporary sandbags or concrete fortress or maybe you want to fight with rifles and machine guns or even tanks, mortars, ships and artillery. There is something for everyone, or like me, you enjoy to move between them! Essentially feels like multiple games in one, a real time stratergy, a combat game and a casual simulator.
I can't recommend it enough, a lot of game for a very low price. All aspects and complexities are thought out well by the devs, allowing for a fun and easy to play casual game for all. Huge community and content still being added shows how very active this game is.

INITIAL/MAJORITY OF TIME SPENT
The game was actually extremely enjoyable at first. I really liked it. I even joined a clan which is pretty rare for me to do unless I really love the game. The game had this really cool system that naturally created the need for people to put themselves into either defense logistics or attack groups. This was something no other game I played before had done. It made the battles feel a lot more fulfilling. It made you value what you had that much more. The shotgun you are carrying, the smg, or even having grenades at your disposal. Well that and gunning for tanks both the light and heavy variety. I played the game through 3-4 conflicts from start to finish and than I stopped.
COMING BACK AFTER A BREAK
When I came back my clan was basically gone which was sad, but I carried on more solo. I basically looked for any front that was struggling to hold and did what I can to either supply them, build defenses for them, or guide them on what positions to hold and what to look out for. It felt great and we were really accomplishing a lot. The feeling of holding off an enemy when you are outnumbered 2 to 1 is wonderful. We managed this for 3 days straight. The numbers of enemies swelling at some points and decreasing at other points and us taking the fight to them invading their side and creating areas to hold out.
WE ARE LOSING GROUND
I recognized there was a real possibility that we would lose that position finally as the enemies numbers just kept growing larger and larger day after day. We were getting hit by strike groups from the sides as well which put the pressure on us. So what we needed was a well supplied position farther back to not only store supplies for easier transport to the front but also fall back to if necessary. I found a good spot that wasn't being used by any clan and would accomplish exactly what i wanted. It was also good because I kept seeing lone soldiers and strike groups move through the area to launch ambushes. Fortifying it would've made their movements much more difficult.
DUMBASSES
And then it happened. A certain major clan had decided they didn't like me building there and started destroying every fortification I put up. Foxholes, Fences, Walls, Barbed wire. Everything. I asked them what they were doing. And all 3 of them there just kept saying oops. They continued and I told them to stop. They didn't and just carried on like it was funny. They then preceded to cuss me out and start grabbing items from the base and chucking them on the ground. After destroying everything I spent building and wasting half a days materials I acquired and cussing me out and talking shit. At this point in time they were getting those do you want to kick messages for destroying so many friendly buildings. So I called them out on team chat to be kicked but what I didn't realize is their clan made up a quarter of the team. So all I did was rally the dumb asses against me. They all than started shit talking me and I told them fuck off. I than got a ban from the game that was somewhere from 24 hours to a week. I don't know how long exactly, because it didn't matter. This is the moment I realized a game I once like was dead to me.
FINAL THOUGHTS
THE GOOD
What made the game good was the feeling of working together. This feeling of dependency in a way where every cog is turning for a reason and that's to win the war was very fulfilling in a weird way. In this game everyone had a role they could fill and early on in my initial playing of the game it felt like that came naturally in a way. Hell even people who just want to get on and shoot things for an hour have a purpose and something to do. Just march up to the front lines grab a gun and start shooting. That feeling of controlling and operating a base with my clan. Building its defenses and coordinating assaults on various sectors was amazing. Than the approach to the apex of the battling with heavy tanks rolling around fucking shit up. It was all ideal.
THE BAD
With the decay of certain clans what the game devolved to was in some ways a monopoly where a few large groups can do whatever they want to others whether they be ally or not. Consequences be damned. If you just want to shoot things you may still be able to that, but that's about it. The game is no longer foxhole but trollhole instead. I The game might be updating, but the community is devolving. So long as the community remains like this I do not recommend this game.

Been playing this game since pre-alpha versions. It had its up's and down's as in every other early access games.
Concept and imagination of this game is wonderful, however the realization is terrible with every new patch.
When playing this game you had a feeling of belonging somewhere and doing something to the progression of the war.
Nowdays (past year) developers are inclined to making wars last longer at all cost. And that cost is in my opinion was too much.
The 'frontline' infantry combat is kinda destroyed totally. 80% of gameplay is stalemate due to shear amount of automatic defences you opponents can build in this game. Thus resulting that little active frontline you have turns out to be just PvE.
Logistic for (not-clan members) is also kinda destroyed. For example if you wish to play with a tank, you have to first farm out a large amount of resources (we talk about hours in game time, just to gather), process those said resources,
then take em to vehicle factory in order to build said tank. But that's not all, also you have to farm other types of resources to fill that tank, with necessary stuff. Shells, machine gun ammo, fuel etc. It also takes a long time to bring the tank to the front, now comes the best part - After all that effort (which can easily go even up to 10 hours or more, due to large clans hogging all the resources) you can get blow up in matter of seconds, due to infantry moving faster than majority of armor in this game, and with few stick grenades bye bye your effort. And that's actually good part, at least you lost it in combat. The bad part is since you cant 'store' or 'safely park' or ' lock' your vehicle anywere. If you don't watch it 24/7 it usually gets stolen in first 1 hour of you leaving it somewhere. And lest face it, no one can play 10+ hours just to build something and then say good bye to it.
While we are at subject of stealing, game moderators work is usually bad, the occasional abuse of power here and there i can understand, but not to even bother to kick players who grief/teamkill/insult you/steal your stuff/ etc i cant understand. Even when you go full on support in making tickets they require of you, 90% of the time is thrown in water. But don't worry because YOU can get permanently banned for some irrelevant or not worthy punishing reasons.
(never been personally banned, but for someone who doesn't care about those things, shear amount i've heard about, makes me wonder)
On population and community in this game i also feel its in tremendous decline,
frontline destroyed - no players who like frontline.
Logy destroyed - no players who like logy.
Suporting clases - witout frontline and logy who are they gonna support? - no those players too.
The only players still playing are those hard core fanatics who doesn't have anything better to play and do.
And players who come to see friends and kill few hours in the game, since game is based on huge amount of co-operation and combined effort of multiple players, you cant but make few friends here and there.
So in the end for conclusion:
- Is the game fun? - Yes, it still is, i'm one of those fanatics, its good time killer.
- Should you BUY it? - NO, Absolutely no. Maybe in a few years if developers decide to listen to gaming community, instead of trying to block and slow everything. Maybe.
p.s. Devs do say they listen and talk with community - but their view of community is 10-20 like-minded persons. So NO, they don't listen to community. Don't fall for that trick. They also do sorta- weekly streams where they have Question and Answers at the end, but if its question they don't wanna answer you can ask it 20 times, they will just miss to read it. And i'm not even gonna start with wasting 30+ min of every stream on anime/hentai pictures.

I stopped playing when they added cranes and flatbeds alongside a logistics overhaul that made everything way slower and more convoluted than it needed to be. I just got on today (and for reference, I've tried to get back into it several times over these 2 years but couldn't), and had a guy explain to me in multiple walls of text how to play logistics. The system has gotten too convoluted for me to enjoy. Perhaps the game's just not for me anymore, but I don't think I'm alone in thinking the system was better when it was simpler. It meant more people could do logistics and you could easily swap between logistics and frontline whenever it was needed. It wasn't OP, since either side could do it and it made combat a lot more fun and drawn out.
tl;dr Devs turned a simple and fun multiplayer milsim/base-building/strategy game into a convoluted mess of small mechanics that make playing logistics a total chore that takes hours to even figure out how to do something. If you're reading this and still wanna play the game, just play infantry. If that doesn't sound fun, then I recommend you look elsewhere for a game, because this won't be for you.

-or when the devs don't just outright give the Collies equipment when they can't seem to win, even with all of their innate advantage
-or when the Halloween event is repeatedly watered down and turned into a standard war with zombies on each side
-or when the moderators continue to ban people despite the low player population
Other than that, logi and partisan ops are fun, and the gameplay itself is enjoyable

They censor basic modifications that improve their horrible shortcomings.

I enjoy the idea this game presents and it does it well, the shooting mechanics in my opinion are a little weird to get used to but easy to learn none the less. Sometimes other players can be helpful, toxic, or just rude, because again this game is community driven and player reliant. I've built defenses for a total of maybe 15 or less minutes due to other players disagreeing with what I place down, and you'll find that anywhere. because everyone has different ideas of how to defend.
Overall I have played with great people and I feel more times than not you'll find several people willing to educate you based on any question you may have. Community can be a bit sour at times, but the gameplay and core fundamentals of this War game, is not like any other game I have played.

HONEST CLEAN REVIEW-
If you are a Solo player, That likes progression and getting stuff done.
This is not the game for you.
Foxhole forces you into a sandbox play garden full of clueless infants and ptsd veterans that know more than the DEVs.
After 50 hours in I was slowly anexed by a clan, With a organized group the game is playable and may I even say enjoyable.
But the first 50 were dreadfull, clueless to the unknows of war , I spawned and asked around for help.
Chinese players will bot and exploit.
Clans will fight you and mass report you until ban
Dev's arent present and control the wars how they feel. spawing items helping losing side, reseting maps.
Creators mods and Devs ingame have a exploitasious power over the players and I quote:
The clients are just cogwheels in our machine of war.
Imagine a game made by DEVS for DEVS where u are just a variable.
Random people are your best bet to find friends, I hope youre fluent in 10 languages because thats whats going to take.
TIPS AND TRICKS.
Use a auto clicker, use keyboard macros, and make your gameplay easier the devs were enjoy your time based torture.
AVOID CLANS PERIOD. THEY ARE ALL CANCER
My next 14 usd will be better spent on heroin.
Foxhole is cool but its a toxic teambased world.
If you dont put 8 hours of work a day you barely see anything done.

The players RUINED this game. If you take offense to that, you're probably who I'm talking about.
Allow me to explain: If new people join, they're extremely likely to be screamed, literally screamed at by some british dude for accidentally driving a truck 10ft further than a Col would have liked.
This has happened to me a couple times, but this is extremely, extremely common.
And the playerbase shows it. Battles used to be composed of THOUSANDS of players along a massive frontline.
Now, the playerbase has tanked about 80% and you're lucky to find a decently sized skirmish.
This is not just an accusation, the numbers prove my point. This is the most unfriendly new-player game I've ever seen, and it's all the hardcore neet mil-sim player's fault. No one wants to play the game equivilent of a sweaty basement full of NEETs. Unless you are one of those NEETs, that's this game now.
These NEETs want this game to succeed so badly, mostly because they're too fat to pass an actual military fitness exam, but they've already scared everyone off. This game is dead, and it's all their fault.
This is an excellent game, totally dynamic, and you'll make a lot of friends here.
But the golden age of this game is gone, and they fucking killed it.

and i now cant recommend the game, its just unplayable now if you want to do something different than stupid running arround with Rifles.
A lot of this Steam Reviews are Positiv but dont get yourself tricked by that, i got 5 Friends witch wrote a review about this and out of 5, 4 are Positiv and from the 4 postivs 2 already Rage quitted the game forever and the other 2 abandoned it cuz they moved on.
This game has some FREAKING nice moments, for example when there is a new player and you start together a Ressource gathering Operaition, or when you just hang arround with some cool dudes and archive something but its not worth it.
-Your Trucks get unlocked from other players the second you leave them out of your eyesight, meaning all the Stuff u worked on for several hours is gone/wasted.
-The Deffence AI is broken as heck, enemys can Run through your own Powered AI Deffences and throw Nades at your Artillery.
-Enemys that are in trenches dont get shot by AI Deffences, so every enemy that manages to get into your Trenches can just wipe all of your Deffences out while you have no chance to kill him because you cant hit enemys in tenches.
-Unexperienced Players are Rude to you and Teamgrief you.
-And Serverproblems are just insane, traveling into other Regions? Its like gambling now for 1 or maybe already 2 years.
This are just a thew problem points of this game...
WARNING you will soon or later find yourself frustrated and angry because of some game mechanics or other players, sure you will have the one or other nice moment with other players working together, but its not worth all the trouble you will have with all the Problems the game has.

It's fun DESPITE the developers, plain and simple. Every update, every action, every single interaction with the community drives home just how out of touch they are with the state of their own game.
Every update introduces more grind, time wasting, and boredom to an already tedious system that is only held up by the weight of the community desperately trying to hold it all together while the developers sit on the side trying to topple it all.
The moderation of this game is a pathetic joke where outright cheating gets a slap on the wrist and the very idea of having a competent community manager is unheard of.
If you get the game understand that you're paying for something that IS fun but will only last so long as the community puts up with the developers, and if the numbers of players is anything to go by it's not doing too well on that front.

It COULD be amazing, it could be absolutely great, but it absolutely is NOT.
You will frequently run into players on YOUR OWN team that try to fuck you over as hard as they can, because they switched over from the other faction or have an alt account and are working in the enemy's interest. You will VERY frequently run into players abusing bugs in order to get unfair advantages, because the devs dont punish bug abuse.
Turn away now, or this game will suck you in only to kick you in the balls with it's unbridled griefer and troll community.
