Über das Spiel
FlowScape boasts hundreds of unique 3D models, an intuitive interface, an ever-growing community and free content updates. The toolbar has advanced paint options such as align to landscape, size, flow of the brush, random leaning, grow speed, and layers to determine where things get painted. Drop objects such as rocks, logs, twigs and leaves in real-time physics into your scene.
You can use a combination of twenty-four 4k textures for your landscape and then choose from twenty-four different skies. In the camera settings there are plenty of sliders to allow you lots of control over your final image.
Ten different sound ambiances from birds, insects, water and weather can be added to your scene to immerse you into your special world.
You can save screenshots up to 8k, create panoramas or make videos using your favorite capture app. If you play D&D we have a top-down view with optional square and hexagonal grids, and 2K-8K image export for battle maps.
If the included models don't offer the versatility you need, you can import your own using the obj. format exported from your favorite modelling program or get many free ones from online.
We cant wait to see what amazing stories you will create!

3d ecosystem creation program (like Vue xstream or Terragen) but not so sophisticated, in order to make it accessible to a wider audience.
PS: Request to the programmers of this little gem:
Add the keyboard remapping (I use Blender, Maya) and I am used as I believe many others to the standard layout of 3d programs.
Thanks for your attention =;)

Cons: Overpriced, few animal/tree/bush options, clunky, confusing UI, weird layering system for the ground/terrain that makes it almost impossible to edit, and the controls are literally so flipping awful that sometimes I want to scream. I really don't understand - nothing is at all intuitive. Things that should be simple are overly complicated. In fact, the surveying controls are so bad that I can't even figure out how to properly zoom in and rotate etc to survey the map and show it off to friends. I've resorted to just taking a screenshot when I can get an angle that is 'just ok'. Unfortunately, I can't refund this, but I 100% do not recommend unless it's on sale for like $3.

Photography and scenic landscapes are a big passion of mine and this software definitely delivers in those aspects. It’s almost impossible to create something that doesn’t look beautiful. Everything looks great out of the box.
Compared to advanced 3D software products like Blender, this is a lot more accessible and more rewarding to use. But is it really “effortless” like the description claims? Yes and no. It is very easy to make something that looks good. Even the random template scenes you get when you start the program are so photogenic already. But making exactly what you’re envisioning and not just “something” can be very complicated, fiddly and annoying.
The UI looks and feels like an early prototype and not a finished product. UI, controls and settings aren’t explained well at all, arranged in odd ways, and work in odd ways. None of the buttons even highlight when you interact with them. Half the time I can’t be sure if a button press was registered because the button's function isn’t always clear and there is no visual feedback on the UI itself.
A lot of “Why can’t I do this?” and “Does this not work? Or am I doing it wrong?” moments. Why can't I load save files from the main menu? Why do I have to open a random scene first and wait for that to load before I can access my own scenes? Why can I only undo some things but not all things? Especially when sculpting the terrain, it appears that you have to reset your entire sculpting work if you want to undo the last step. But for some reason I can undo and redo object placement. Why can’t I paint on “Ground 1” and “Ground 2”? Why am I painting on a third layer when I edit the ground? Why can I only choose from 6 ground textures for painting and not all 24? Why can’t I extend my plot if I realize it’s too small for what I’m building? There is so much more to say but I will leave it at that.
So yes, I do recommend this software. I recommend it because I believe it could be an amazingly powerful tool for artists if more work was put into UX design. The landscapes you can create are so visually pleasant and fun to play with. But I really, really hope that the UI and all of the usability issues will be improved in the future. It would be a shame otherwise.

You can import custom made 3D models too (with color profile as well). It takes some knowledge about how to save and name 3D designs in the required formats to do so though.
But if you are looking at exporting anything you created, just forget about it. There is no way to export your creation. (You can take JPG screenshots in app). If you are thinking to make 3D scenery videos or animated 3D for any purpose, this is not the app for that. There is not video export option whatsoever. I tried OBS Studio to record the screen but then again that is not convenient or good enough for the said tasks.
Don't waste your money if you are planning to export anything out of the app. But if you just want to enjoy inside FlowScape, then go for it.

If you are looking for any real functionality beyond that; the controls are clunky an unintuitive, the asset library is limited and overall not very useful if you are looking to use this to design maps or terrain for TTRPGs, etc.

I hope the devs can finally get back to it to add more updates. Maybe also fix the copy paste bug, and I find it hard to find and import files so maybe add workshop content so instead of downloading and importing manually we can easily subscribe to them easily.
Overall it's very very good for people who just wants to relax and build from their imagination.
Easily recommend.

My review is as map maker only: Recommended if you want a result similar to Skyrim, and have enough patience with some clumsiness of the tool.
Many down votes are because of the clumsiness of the tool, and it is true. Period. No mater what devs say that this is not aimed to make maps, or that it has the same controls as Unity, other applications based on unity as Wildshape have much intuitive controls. But if you have patience to get used to it clumsiness, you can have the best looking map at the moment.
I identified 2 big issues at the time of the review:
1. Only one paint layer, which makes you invest too much creativity to make different terrains and roads, even you would need to Photoshop the final result.
2. most settings are not saved, so each time you re-open your project, need to set again brightness, camera angle, shadows, etc...
Devs in their Discord say that they already are working on that, so maybe this won't be an issue in near future, but even with those problems, I was able to make a wonderful extra big map, with an entire town, farms, mountain, rivers and roads.

The options for a top down maps work well for this.
The creators of Flowscape have been working on Dungeon and Dragon Map features for a long time now and I'm starting to loss hope. I would pay 20 to 30 dollars just for an add-on if they could just put it out there.
There are options and ways to add things, but I would love an add-on so I don't have to deal adding obj. files for them.
Maybe add some trees with transparent foliage.
Overall, great map and landscape maker. Even my wife enjoys making random landscapes and fooling around on Flowscape.

+ The graphics are beautiful, especially for something just recently released
+ Despite having a small scale of items, there is no end to the things you can create! No two pieces will be the same
+ It is a wonderful time-passer, calming, relaxing
+ The screenshots are beautiful
- The animation renders are extremely heavy, and this is with a high end gaming/rendering computer that handles high quality 3D rendering on top of extensive gaming
- I would like to see more items coming in the future for sure, perhaps more Holiday things, more animals, better/more idle animations for animals, etc
- The movements can be a little difficult to get used too
Overall, the game is positively overwhelmingly amazing. I do not regret purchasing and cannot wait for more to come! It makes ideas, roleplay situations, book writing visuals so easy! A wonderful thing to just sit down with and idle around on.

First off, the presentation is not great. The menus are very clunky and look like they came from a 1998 city building game, but okay, you can get over that.
The main problem is the performance and look of the scenes you make. Despite my system being leagues above what is recommended (not minimum, recommended), some effects simply make the scenes lag so much that you have to have to close the game.
There's not many performance settings, and the models provided by the game by default don't even look that great, the animals look really fake and robotic. The nature scenes are good, but I think the fancy lighting and effects carry it more than the models themselves.
It's a fantastic idea and it can become something really great, but I cannot recommend it right now. If it catches on and the community manages to make many great free assets, that's good, but you can't rate a game now based on its future potential, so I'd say wait and see what happens with this project. I'll be glad to buy it again, even if it's more expensive, once it's fleshed out.

I do not dislike this game. However, as of this review, the functions are more limited than expected. They have indeed included several trees and the ability to sculpt terrain and add all sorts of elements, but each category of elements is still very limited.
This game has all the potential in the world, but it isn't there yet. If you are into forming fun random forest scenes or willing to dig deep into uploading and modifying assets you are going to have a great time.

This program is primarily for creating scenery. That's it. That's what it's about. If you're looking for something more, you won't find it here, but I'm a nerd that enjoys creating scenes from my imagination and then taking pictures of them. I'm a very visual person. To me, this program is perfect.
Also would not recommend this to someone who doesn't have a beefy computer. The assets are high detail. Even with my gaming PC there was just a touch of lag after adding a ton of things to one scene. I would be cautious of that if you're thinking about buying.
All in all, this program is fantastic for the asking price. I think it's worth it ten times over.

There are world creators with much more content. But they are far more expensive and have a steeper learning curve.
a) NO FBX / OBJ ( 3D File export) included.
b) You can export png (screen resolution and panorama view)
c) Adding own models is possible.
d) I used a picture as background for my drawing. It does the job.

I love it. FlowScape allows you to create atmospheric and picturesque scenes easily as you listen to relaxing music; I find it all a very Zen like experience.
For example; I was working on making a winter evening scene with a small pagoda, a deer and the previously mentioned sun shafts coming through the trees, when I noticed the music track matched the feeling or mood I was trying to create. At that moment I just wanted to stay exactly where I was and realised that in fact I could. If you like playing with the map editors, rather than the games themselves, certainly give this one a whirl. It's simple to use without worrying about clipping; just dive in and have fun and make some wonderful art!

Should the dev ever read this, here's some things that could be improved:
- When you start the program, you should see a screen where you can open a previous project, start a new one, and adjust graphics and audio settings, key bindings, and an exit program button.
- These graphic and audio settings should be remembered. I don't want to have to switch off the music every time I go in for example.
- When you press escape, you should see this menu again. This is a minimum expectation for something that runs through Steam. Hiding the exit button behind an icon on a screen full of icons is frustrating.
- It doesn't seem like you can paint more than two ground covers on 1 terrain. It also doesn't seem like you can feather the edges of the brushes to get a seamless gradation between ground types.
- The sculpt tool doesn't work very well, especially on the edges of the canvas/ground.
- The database of biomes/trees etc is a bit limited. There could definitely be more variety, especially swamp stuff
- there has to be a more intuitive way of getting around the screen. For example getting on a flying creature in Ark Evolved and flying around takes no effort to figure out. You could implement something like that along with the mousewheel to zoom in and out.

Lovely Tool, but be prepared for Learning
So in it's pure form this program will auto generate really beautiful scenes with easy painting tools to edit everything to your hearts content without any 3d modeling experience. It's a God game without any game, but you can walk through your creation and snap pictures, very relaxing.
But The Fun Starts When You Add Your Own Stuff
So I have amateur level knowledge of 3D modeling, just enough to get the results I want, but only for personal satisfaction not commercial, using Poser and Daz Studio.
So you can Import .obj files into Flowscape which gives an almost infinite choice of content for your creations.
But you gotta do a bit of learning
Fear not, there are loads of YouTube tutorials and I followed them and got brilliant results. You will need a program called Blender which is free on Steam.
A Note For Silly People Who Give Thumbs Down Because They Bought A Rubbish Computer
This program is pretty heavy on your processor and you will need a modern rig to get good looking results, same applies to all games, you want beautiful, you gotta have a good computer.
I don't have a super rig, but it's modern and up to date and have had no crashing problems but of course the more you add to the scene there will be slowdown.
To Wrap up
Bought this for £7 and am very happy with what this does for me, it gets my creative juice flowing and is very relaxing to create scenic areas and then take a stroll in my world.

I found the camera/UI controls to be too frustrating, I was having to reset the camera all the time cause it just rotates and flips upside-down too easily. And lot of actions cant be undone with a hotkey so you have to manually delete/fix whatever you just did.
Terrain controls weren't as exciting as I'd hope also, you can really only move a circle of terrain things up/down, so it's kinda hard to make mountains or canyons.
Structures are super limited, too. Theres a few houses, a wagon, a tower, some ships, a glowing orb, and some pretty animals that just hang out doing an animation loop. Most of the stuff is larger scale, not a lot of 'decorative' things really. No campfires or chairs or people. So a bunch of new 3D assets would be a great update.
^^^^ EDIT: Disregard the above and see dev comments on this review about models! ^^^^
It just needs MORE. I pretty much looked at every asset in the half hour that i played for and none of it felt like it'd fit the river I was making.
Tl;Dr - This is not the game for people who like to terraform and makes 'scenes' - It's not a sandbox. It's not like the terrain tool in a city builder (Cities Skylines has a really good terrain tool, for example).
But hey, it's really damn pretty!
I'll check back on this game in a few months and see if the devs have added anything.

Just like you did with 'terrarium' style of current release.

Here's my Pros
+Easy to learn
+they offer great easy tutorials on youtube
+The game runs really smooth besides camera controls which ill get to
+so many possibilities eg: i've made a forest sanctuary, a floating island temple, i even made the jungle book!!
+ lots of variety of trees, plants and landscapes
+animal models and animations is nice smooth and simple
Here are my Cons
-the obvious one is the game crashes sometimes which could ruin peoples whole designs i keep my autosave on every 1 minute which helps
-Camera controls aren't the best they are annoying to get used to and you'll find yourself taking the camera the wrong direction a lot but if you have any experience with other Modeling or Art Software it's easy to pick up
-I would like to see a wider variety of animals which im sure will come, they have a selection of about 20 animals but there is only 1 fish and 1 bird type
-It would be nice to add a tutorial to a game like this for new comers and giving them some sort of goal to complete using a lot of the functionalities of the game. some people might not know how to approach a game like this with the amount of freedom it gives
All in all i love this title and i know I'll be creating many wonderlands on it

A few weeks after I bought it they 'upgraded' the program, the sole intention apparently being to introduce a brand new 'epilepsy generator'. Since then, attempts to access the more advanced functions result in the picture flashing on and off at a nauseating rate. I suspect it's a compatibility issue, which was introduced with the upgrade but it isn't clear what causes it.
When it works, it's gorgeous, relaxing fun. However, as it only works about 30% of the time and some functions have to be avoided, I'll have to say no to recommendation :(

The current possibilities and results are very great without having much time to have a good result.
The navigation can be improved.
It would be great if the navigation is more similar to the other professional tools.
Wishlist:
- More control for camera positioning.
- Possibility to position something exact by entering the number.
- WebP export for images and also for animated images.
- DLC for even more content selection
- DLC to get the possibility export the generated landscape for other professional tools as well.
I mean fore game engine, modeling and and and.
Honestly, I would like to mention that the price of what it can so far is incredible.
I find the tool can keep up with all professional tools.

A relaxing, satisfying and fun creative tool
Pros:
- Overall outstanding visuals: Your creations will look awesome unless you work hard to make them look bad :)
- A considerable number of assets included with several architectural styles and lots of random items. The assets included in the game will keep you busy for quite a while, and there are lots of things you can do to make your scenes look much different than scenes created by others, even if you're using many of the same assets.
- A huge number of options for foliage, flowers, trees, bushes, vines, ivy, grass and other flora. You can make jungles teeming with life or go the other extreme and create dusty desert biomes or frigid winter scenes.
- Full control over the sun and moon, ambient lighting, ground fog, ambient fog, bloom, aperture, field of view, focus, shadows, etc
- Import your own sky images
- Import your own 3D models, or models downloaded from other sites in obj format
- Options for oceans (including sliders for choppiness, waves, foam, etc), standing water, rivers and waterfalls
- All items, including assets, water, foliage and trees, can be resized and textures can be scaled up or down
- Fun painting effect allows you to drop things like stray rocks, branches and leaves into your scene
- Animals! Including elephants, rabbits, wolves, ungulates, fireflies, fish, and my personal favorite, kittehs!
- The developer listens to player feedback and is transparent about future updates
Cons:
- No Workshop support yet: The dev says he's looking into it. That would be a game-changer. I decided to take the leap and buy the game despite the lack of current Workshop support, and it's well worth it, but the game would be so much better with true Workshop integration.
- A lot of reviews mention the awkward terrain sculpting controls. It's true, unfortunately. The dev is aware and hopefully this will be improved
- There are very limited options when it comes to specifically placing light sources. Instead of a color wheel, Flowscape offers only five colors, and they're all omni-directional. The game lacks directional lighting of the kind found in games like Planet Coaster. It could benefit hugely from that sort of thing, although there are creative ways to work around it.
- Importing is a crapshoot: The game supports 3D models in the obj format only, but not all obj files work. I've had the most success with raw-scan 3D images. Workshop integration would give us more options and alleviate the frustration of downloading large files only to find out the models don't import properly
- Currently the game uses a layer system to facilitate painting things like foliage and assets onto set layers, for example placing them on water instead of the ground. But the layer system is wonky, and if for example you want to paint ivy and vines sideways on a building's exterior, you've got to move those pieces by hand and place them there, which is time-consuming.
- The game needs a better method for copy+paste that preserves item size, position and relative position
- We could always use more assets
- The dev tries to herd people to Discord to get information about the game. I understand he's trying to grow the community, but forcing people onto Discord is not the way to do it. All relevant information should be available on the community discussion boards, guides, etc.
CONCLUSION: I wasn't sure what to expect, but Flowscape is well worth the $15 price point, and it's a steal at the under-$10 price point of recent sales. I've already got almost 40 hours in Flowscape and I'm not tired of it yet. :) The developer is active, solicits feedback from players and seems to take the feedback to heart. He's also transparent about what he can and cannot do, and what we should expect in the future. That's more than I can say for the vast majority of devs out there, and it's clear this dev cares about the game.
I recommend Flowscape for anyone who likes relaxing games and anyone who has a creative spark.

To the designer, I take my hat off to you. Fantastic job. If you could make cave or dungeon interiors then this would be the go to app for everyone.
Please, please keep up the good work.

Examples of things you can do:
- make beautiful scenery and take nice picture of them, they are good enough to hang on my living room wall.
- make short video of animals idly grazing and convert it into live wallpaper for your phone.
- create relaxing natural places for you to walk around, listen to relaxing soundtrack, unwind and meditate
- superimpose the map with square our hexagonal grid to print out for tabletop RPG or war gaming.
- Make a concept scenery before building a physical diorama by hands.
There are a few small problems though, the program is a bit buggy, and you need a very powerful PC if there are a lot of things you want to render.
But overall a very enjoyable little toy for 15 bucks.

Screenshots, Loadscreens, Wallpapers, Concept maps, Short animations, Tabletop maps, or whatever you can manage to figure out to do with it. Would be nice to see this highly moddable in the future.
Worth the base price.
