Laut Forum ist das Problem Square Enix seit über einem Monat bekannt, allerdings ist es seitdem ruhig geworden... wahrscheinlich wartet Square mal wieder auf nen Community-Patch wie bei Nier. Schade.

Surely there are some hardcore FF Type-0 fans there, but I'd only recommend picking this if the person is trying to experiment all RPGs released by a certain company or status.

I intend to get all the FF games I haven't played regardless of reviews.
The opening cutscene is amazing, so gripping, emotional and dark. Yet after that the story is ok but feels like a let down, it isn't told well and feels wooden the way it's mostly told with just a couple of characters talking about something and seems rather bland and uninspiring.
I did like the story and the dark tone of it and it seemed much more intriguing after the 6th chapter.
Everything about this game feels like it's half as good as it could be.
In between missions you can do boring quests which are mostly just to kill monsters. And you can only do one quest at a time. I try and do all the quests I can and talk to everyone with exclamation marks but most of it feels pointless and can be skipped.
I found the last chapter the most interesting and enjoyable to play. It's a shame that most of the game was no where near as good and didn't get good until it's nearly over.
The action combat is the best thing about the game and I enjoyed playing all the different play styles of the 14 characters. I levelled them all to lvl 38 and enjoyed levelling them all.
Though you should always have a ranged character in your party.
The port seems fine and I had no problem with frame rates or anything else. Though camera is a bit annoying. I played using my XBox controller as I don't recommend playing with the terrible keyboard controls. Don't get the game if you don't have a controller.
The game is ok. I don't love it or hate it. But it felt tedious at times and the middle bit of the game felt boring. I dislike that you can only get the alternate ending if you play through a second time and I did try a new game on agito, but it's almost just the same with the begining intro cutscene and even though I've completed the game it asked if I wanted to play the tutorial. I don't need that, I know how to play already. I know there is supposed to be other missions you can do and trials, but still feels not worth it to play the game more than once, besides I can see the other ending on you tube.
I like the game and would rather have played it than not at all so I recommend. I can't rate it higher than 6/10 as I felt it needed much better quests.

Even though I liked those things, it doesn't erase the slog of the first 10-15 hours of the game and really the only reason I had that much patience is because I am playing through all Final Fantasy games on Steam and Type-0 definitely ranks in the bottom 3 for me. Reading through the other reviews I can share that I had no issues with this PC port in game or during cutscenes and I don't know exactly why (maybe it was fixed?) but any issues I had were with the design choices of the game itself and no technical reasons. Ultimately I would just look at some videos of gameplay and maybe a bit of the story and see if this game is for you otherwise I am going to give it a thumbs down (even though I am neutral) because I find myself leaning more in that direction.

The fight mechanic is somewhat decent or lets say the only positve thing in this game.
It is not a turn-based game, but rather a real-time action one. You have a bunch of different characters to choose from, which all have kinda different playing and fighting styles. One thing you have to keep in mind though is, that you really need a ranged char. If you don't have one in your active party, fighting some enemies can really become a pain or even not doable.
One thing that really disappointed me were the cutscenes. They are really uninspired. Most of the time you just have one character on the screen, who says a few lines. Then it changes to another one who says a few things and repeat.
The story is somewhat okay-ish, but also nothing special in my opinion. Just your typical fight against the evil forces.
As an RPG you have of course some open-world features. In between your missions you have free time, where you can do some basic stuff. Most of it is just talking to other students in the academy. You can also pick up tasks to do in the overworld. The typical kill a bunch of these monsters, bring back this or that from somewhere on the map etc. Nothing to exciting about it.
So all in all, I wouldn't really recommand the game.
Will I finish it? Yes. Will I go through a second or even third playthrough? Probably not.

The story starts pretty heavy and is much more dark and dramatic than what I'm used to from the franchise, but that's not a bad thing. A little realism injected into the war and conflict is welcome though I woudn't break this one out around the kids under 12.
The HD version has a number of improvments over the original, most notably simplified controls. The PSP game had controls that were needlessly complex. It was also never released outside of Japan, so the only way to play the Psp version in English is with a patch.
The game follows a very rigid structure with breaks for exploration in between story missions, though the world map is small. Optional quests are somewhat baffling in that they usually require a much higher level party than you have and they are gone forever by the time you actually get there.
The regular battles are fun and are highly focused on timing. Being able to switch characters on the fly is fun but seems pointless and your characters don't really seem to work as a team so much as three indpendent units.
There are also these faux rts type battles where you can direct troops to attack an enemy settlement while your character runs around and attacks the enemy armies. It's a little silly.
Now onto the port: There aren't really many enhancements so it still is a pretty similar presentation to the console release. However, if you run a monitor at a higher resolution than 1920x1980, even when fullscreen this game will appear pillarboxed and look rather tiny in the middle of your screen.
My suggestion is to use SpecialK. Configure the game for 1920x1080 and max out the antialiasing, then use special k to stretch to fill. Then the game actually looks pretty good.
There are some other known technical issues and bugs unfortunately, but this is the only one I ran into personally. I would say play this one at your own risk. If you're a Final Fantasy enthusiast and just have to play everything with Tabata's name on it then it's probably worth your time but you're not really missing anything spectacular by skipping it.

I saved my process twice but the next day that is today I could not press continue anymore.. So obviously there is something funny about this..
I will say that this is a unique seeming FF though and I would have kept it but I already have had the issue twice with being long into a game and it lost my save files .. So a bit annoying to refund this but it would literally just sit and collect dust and might still get something else instead. Anyway I do say this is a very very dramatic FF and death is in your face quite soon so I would not recommend this for younger FF players its more directed for the older generation I would say.. I do think it seems very well made but cannot comment on the story at all.. I have a feeling it might be some problem with this port.. This should get a remaster and then I will consider getting it again but I wonder if they will though...

Pros:
Multiple Playable Characters - Final Fantasy Type-0 features 14 playable characters, all of them unique in terms of play style, and appearance. You can bring all 14 in missions, and you can kind of swap in between them in mid-fight.
Engaging Battle System - This game have one of the most fun and engaging battle systems I've ever seen in my life. Most notable mechanic is the Killsight mechanic. It is great, and It reward players who took their time to master the opponents' movements by giving them windows of opportunities to end a battle or encounter in a much efficient manner.
Cons:
Story and Characters - I personally think that Final Fantasy Type-0's story is interesting, but it is heavily held back with the lack of character development. It is so hard to care for an occurring war when you only have a sliver of care on the people involved in it. Sure, there are snippets of character moments here and there, but it isn't enough to be engaged in the story.
Multiple Playable Characters - Yeah, this is a double-edged sword both in terms of gameplay and story. Gameplay wise, managing the equipment and levels of all the 14 characters is a chore. Story wise, 14 characters mean lack of focus.
Port - Ported Poorly on the PC. Framerate drops, inconsistent graphics.
There are more that could be mentioned in this review, but I think these are the highlights. I gave it a not recommended as I think the Cons far outweighs the Pros. I'm not stopping anyone who wishes to try it though as the game is still a bit fun to play.

A Final Fantasy game that actually shows blood, war, chocobos fighting and dying, strong emotions...
Why on earth haven't I bought this one before?
Forget about FF XIII and FF XV, this one is way better, more mature and delivers the Final Fantasy we wanted to play as adults.
Not saying the others aren't, but this one is what I've always wanted from Square Enix.
I have a mid-end computer, am running it on the highest quality possible and having a blast, don't let bad reviews fool you, this game is gonna show you a Final Fantasy the way you have never seen it.
Word from a lifelong fan of the franchise.

I know it says I've put in an hour on here, but I've played through this game on PSP and PS4 no less than five times. It hits hard emotionally and, while the action is slow to start, it's all in the service of slowly building you up a huge playable cast with a plethora of fun gameplay options for each of them.
Endlessly replayable and the moogles are all nonbinary. An excellent game!

Compared to other FF games, this one is more about strategy and the political conflicts than the characters. Actually, the less attached you are to the characters, the better. The main cast isn't fleshed out very deep and are really just high school anime tropes, however, the world they live in is interesting and full of mystical and political strife. Besides regular battles, there are also a few strategy battles (think of Age of Empires or war game mechanics) that were surprisingly fun and shook up the typical JRPG model. A major plus is that this game is meant to be played multiple times, so New Game + means more content and more play hours for your buck.
Don't play this expecting a classic Final Fantasy style, but something sort of experimental. If you like anime about high schoolers facing horrible circumstances (like Battle Royale maybe?) and apocalyptic themes, then this will be right up your alley. There's a lot of weird Japanese tropes that don't work well in English, so I also recommend for players who prefer playing in Japanese (with English text).

The story of a war-torn continent and the teenage soldiers called to use their magic is very engaging, though it requires a lot of investment and is more geared towards those who like deep lore and unlockable depth. The magical forces behind the war combine with its ruthless criticism of war to make one of the darkest games I've ever played. The ensemble cast are also impressive, and all have something to love, hate, or at least note about them. And this world's got one of the most heart-wrenching plot conceits you'll ever find in a fantasy war. You will need to replay the game to see all there is to see from the story, and that can drag, but the gameplay makes the slog worth it.
Taking control of up to fourteen members of the group called Class Zero, you can move and attack in real-time across both self-contained missions and battles on the world map. While generally simple, the combat is deceptively deep, and the Break and Kill Sight mechanics are a stroke of genius. That's just the basics. Add on the RTS-style campaign missions, special mid-mission tasks that kill you if accepted and failed, and mission grades that reward you with money and items, and you have incredible replay value. The time management system between story missions is a little frustrating, but also relaxed enough that you won't be pulling your hair out too much. But be warned, this is not a button masher. If you spam attacks or magic, and don't keep on the move, you will die. Often.
New Game + is worth a mention all its own. Carrying over levels, items, weapons and unlocked magic, you can rush through the game like nobody's business, or put it on a higher difficulty. There are also additional missions, story content, new map areas, and opportunities to take on high level Expert Trials for big rewards and tough combat and mission styles. New Game + stacks, so you can go through as many times as you like and carry over as much as you like through each campaign, and even replay missions you've unlocked in a save file from the main menu and transfer stat and item gains from the replay into that save.
But in other areas, the game does fall short. The graphic quality is all over the place, with beautiful effects and main characters, but low-res architecture and blocky NPC models speaking of its PSP routes. The level structure, especially the broken nature of Class Zero's home base Akademia, can be frustrating. The music is highly entertaining and suits the game, but I prefer the more subdued PSP original over the brasher remixes used here. As to the voicework, while the Japanese dub is excellent, the English dub is plagued with poor deliveries worse pacing.
There are more obvious issues with this game. The camera control and targeting systems can be more than fiddly, and the default keyboard and mouse control layout is atrocious. This is one of those games where playing with a controller is almost mandatory. There's also no autosave function, so you need to dedicate a set amount of time during play sessions, or plan for a particular mission so you can have a go and play, because if you quit a mission or leave the game before you reach a chapter end of save point, you lose all progress. The summon system is also borderline unusable, as the cost is too high and its uses too limited.
On the whole, if you can overcome its troubles and issues, this is a high-quality Final Fantasy title. The dub is terrible, there are gameplay and control issues, and the graphic upgrade is questionable. But the dark narrative, musical score, exciting gameplay, and replayability all make this worth the relatively low cost of admission. And the achievements are actually fun to find!
8/10.

I enjoyed a lot of things about this game, the story, characters enemies, summons and enemies, blood!!!, the fighting style that is a bit like FF9, all the minigames and I could carry on.. it's easy to play a bit addictive and you can play offline (a luxury nowadays)!
The downside is because is a port to PC from a mobile game the way to control the gameplay is a bit odd and not so great... I found it hard to get around this..
If you like FF this could be a good option in a sale but definitely not the best I played it. I really hope they do a remake or a second part

Welcome to my review about Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. This is not your typical Final Fantasy game. It has elements familiar to the rest of the series, but it has differences about from the other games in the series. First off, this is a squad based action game. It is not turn based like other games in the series. Also, this game is related to the Fabula Nova Crystal world, and supposedly takes place in it. This game is about war, and the futility of such wars...about loss and regaining those things that have become lost, and strategic war missions. Another things to be aware about this game is that it takes multiple plays to get the whole story of the game. Anyways, here is my pro and cons list:
PROS:
- A different final fantasy story about taking parts in war mission and real time strategy missions.
- A great storyline that features the futility of war and what you lose when your in war.
- Great music.
- Improved graphics compared to original version.
- Action and Strategy RPG.
- Collectibles.
- New Game + allows multiple playthroughs with different missions.
CONS:
- Some of the missions require super high levels. In the first playthrough of the game, expect to skip alot of missions.
- Leveling is much harder in this game than in other final fantasy games. Some items do help though.
- Some story elements were never discussed, even after unlocking them after beating the game..
Truly, a great adventure game about wars. I recommend this game because of the deep messege of anti-war this game trys to warn everyone about, and how futile it is in the end.

From what I understand this game actually used to be a PSP game, which based on that alone this game is pretty ambitious in my opinion and, if I had ever owned a PSP, it would have been really cool to own. But since this game has been ported to the PC I want to evaluate it as a PC game.
I think the biggest problem is that it lacked depth. I didn't feel a connection with the characters or the world in general really. And I think the developers realized that, because they literally placed a big book in the game called 'Lore'. Despite this it still lacked depth. Sure, there were cutscenes to develop all the characters, but there were just too many of them. I mean there were 14. And even a woman with 14 children can't love all her children the same.
But the combat was good; it was real-time like FFXV, which was one of the best parts of this game in my opinion. It was very satisfying, and the ability to choose between a vast amount of weapons is a nice touch. But again, maybe too much variety. It takes away from the experience.
It was very different than other Final Fantasy games in the series. There were times during the game where I would have doubted this was even Final Fantasy inspired if I hadn't known better. But again, I think this is just because it lacked the depth you get in the standard Final Fantasy title. And the music. I'm not a music snob when it comes to games but it wasn't quite as rich or deep as you might expect from a game in the series.
I just realized this has gone on longer than I wanted. It's a shallow game, to say the least. So purchase with discretion.

But does it fulfills the purpose of a game? Yes.
I find it a grand amount of fun with a capturing story not without well developed characters. (The characters are such a large part of the game, character design credits are on the title screen)
Its not a traditional FF game, true, but in it's own description you are told that this is not a normal or similar FF game, so people who are disappointed that it is not such, didn't read the description before getting the game.
Its really not an amazing game, but I still recommend it as its not horrible, its not broken (Excluding a few exploits I've found), and its an enjoyable experience that has me happy with most moments that I'm playing it.

Cons: It plays like a PSP game
Score: 4/5
If you were an avid player of PSP RPGs in the late 2000s then this is the game for you! The characters are all unique to play as and the soundtrack of this installment definitely is up to par. The story is pretty decent although it does feel a little rushed at times (there is a lot of reading to do at the ingame library if you want the complete story or the somewhat convoluted story makes 0 sense).
As far as gameplay goes, the game MUST be played with a controller or the combat turns into a confusing mess. It was fun completing challenges in the arena. The combat is delicate towards the end because the enemies can 1 shot you but careful play and switching characters in your party make the combat intriguing til the end.
I give it a thumbs up and its my favorite FF game to date!

The soundtrack is very good. There's a nice variety in music and it always adds well to the scene at hand.
The only parts that I can't say is excellent is the story. A lot of the story is kept in the library, and it's nothing but a huge text wall. Without reading it though, the story is very, VERY, hard to follow. Even if you do read through it all, the story still isn't great. As this is a JRPG, I expected a great story, but was very disappointed, even after reading the library readings.
I'd heavily recommend this game for the combat alone, it's very fun. However, if you're looking for a great story, I'd probably pass this one.

Might explain why mine has no probs?
Anyhow, it is a little low res at times and I am having to learn the button mapping on my controller on my own because tool tips completely ignore control pad users. I suggest having a pen and paper handy to write down the key controls as you figure them out if you use a game pad, lol. Still, it has been fun for the little bit I've played it. No real gameplay issues for me. Running a 3 year old PC. GF 560 TI, 8gb ram, i7 2600k. A little outdated, but runs the game super smooth. Hope it runs great for you if you purchase it!
