I'm exactly as bad in VR as I am in real life. And for exactly the same reasons. So that's a pretty convincing argument in favour of the realism of this game. I can drill my shots using the training bots and I pretty confident that it will translate to improvement in real life. Of course in real life I don't have a robot and I have to scramble around picking up stray balls, so VR definitely has some advantages.
The risk of slamming my over-priced controllers into a wall or chair is a bit worrying, but not much the game can do about that.

I had some technical difficulties,(found out later it was unrelated to the game) I got quickly got an answer. Excellent customer support.
I think the developers are highly passionate about Table Tennis and less about the money, seeing as this games is only 20 euro's. I cannot recommend this game enough.
Even if you don't like this kind of sport, just give it a try. Support these kinds of developers.

The Good Stuff
Eleven Table Tennis is as close as you can get right now to playing table tennis in real life, which is why I am so bad at it.. When I was in college wasting my time, I’d have a beer or two at the restaurant on campus and play a few games of table tennis at the gym with a few friends. This is basically the extent of my experience with table tennis, but with this, I will say that Eleven Table Tennis feels very, very close to the real thing.
The mechanics in Eleven Table Tennis are pretty straightforward. There aren’t any fancy power ups, perks, or special abilities. This is a table tennis VR game which tries to get as close to the real thing as possible, and I’d even go as far as calling it a table tennis simulator. There are many settings to customize ranging from cosmetic appearance to paddle settings, and you can even setup how much bounce and spin your paddles have against the ball. You can also adjust table height and floor distance.
With the simplicities of Eleven Table Tennis, there are actually a few fun single player modes to play and practice with. You can play against AI and set the difficulty to meet your skill level, play against yourself with half of the table turned vertically, and there's even a beer pong setup. With multiplayer, you have a list of players with their rank and ping, and you can send an invite to challenge anyone. This also means they can send you an invite as well, which you will hear and see in the notifications tab.
The games follow standard table tennis rules, and you cannot deviate from this, because there is only one game mode for multiplayer. This means the first to 11 points wins the match, and I have only won a single match after 20 games.. so yeah... I'm that bad. You can either play ranked or unranked matches with other players, and this is selected after you're matched with them.
I personally enjoyed the realistic feel of Eleven Table Tennis, and having the ability to fully calibrate where your paddle is positioned in your hand really helps. Unfortunately, you cannot readjust the paddle on the fly like you'd be able to do in real life.
The Bad Stuff
So, this brings me to the bad stuff... The biggest issue for me is that some online games can become very awkward, and almost impossible to play due to latency issues. What happens when there’s a mediocre connection between you and your opponent is that the ball will look like it’s being hit twice, and the second hit is the “real” ball.
This is by far the biggest issue in the game right now, but at the same time, this only happens when people have poor connections with each other. If you connect to someone who you have a good ping with, then you shouldn’t have this issue.
For those wanting to play with friends who live on the other side of the world though, you will have to learn to deal with this issue…
Speaking of ball issues. The ball framerate is low, or at least seems low compared to everything else. I use a Valve Index headset, and I have it set to 120Hz and I am not reprojecting frames. I even tried 144Hz and this did not change the issue. My paddles and the environment felt like it was running at the proper framerate, but the ball itself felt like it was at 30fps.
Overall, the menu and UI feels clunky and isn’t the best I’ve used in VR. But this is just my own subjective opinion. It’s not a dealbreaker, just something I think should be improved.
Ranked games are setup awkward. When asking someone if they want to play, you don’t ask if they want to play ranked or unranked immediately, and instead you're put into a lobby with them and choose this after you’ve been matched together. Once in that lobby, you can choose to play ranked or unranked. The issue is that if either of you chooses unranked, it defaults to an unranked game. This means that if you want to only play ranked games, then you have to leave that lobby and find someone else from the list, join them in a lobby, and go through the same process. This can become tedious if several people keep choosing unranked games.
My advice is that they add a ranked and unranked matchmaking system, and I think this is the obvious way to approach this issue. I am hoping they change this with a future update.
Lastly, if you’re not too good at table tennis, then you’re going to have many people treat you like the peasant you are. Most players will put a spin on the ball which makes it bounce off of your paddle and go the opposite direction you want it to. If you don’t know how to counter this, then you will probably have a bad time in multiplayer.
And if you’re really bad like I am, and lob the ball up high for the opponent to hit, then they are going to return the ball by hitting it as hard as they can, making it nearly impossible for you to react for a return.
That being said, if you play with a friend who plays respectfully and who has similar skill levels as you do, then you will have a good time.
So, is it worth it?
While Eleven Table Tennis isn’t the most intuitive setup in terms of UI and gameplay options, it is very good where it matters, and that’s with the ball physics and overall feel, and it feels great to play.
It’s as close as you can get to the real thing, and I’d say it qualifies as a table tennis simulator.
That being said, it has its issues. Ball latency sucks, I feel like the ball refresh rate could be higher, and their matchmaking system can use improvements.
In the end, I am very glad I picked up Eleven Table Tennis, and if you enjoy table tennis, then I’d say it’s definitely worth it. But this is all just my opinion, and I’m curious whether you think it’s worth it. Let me know in the comments down below!

The one huge downside that made me uninstall though:
My PC room is the minimum space for VR with the valve index, I haven't played much at all and I've already whacked my walls twice with the controllers. luckily no damage yet.
But I'm so worried i could hit a monitor or break a controller because of that I'm uninstalling till I move my pc to a bigger room.
I still put recommend because the game itself is great BUT IF YOU HAVE A SMALL ROOM BE CAREFUL PLEASE!!!

Update : it has come to my attention that multi-player is absolutely plagued with people who do nothing but serve the ball in a weird fashion aimed at maximizing spin so that way after it hits your paddle it flies off in some random ass direction. Sure if I was better I could maybe learn how to combat it. But I thought it is worth mentioning in the review so people know what to expect when playing with these cheese lords.

I know the review said this was great, but what would a table tennis simulator do to uphold my interest if I didnt really into table tennis in real life ?
But whoo boy how wrong I was.
After bought this, I was expecting to only tried it for 5 to 10 mins and then just pushed it away to my backlog like all my other games. But no, I couldnt stop playing. I have to beat that #%@^!%# easy npc that has been blasting me again and again. And everytime I thought I would at least stop after winning this round, and there I was beaten again. Not because of his skill, but because of my faults lol.
I was a beginner, not knowing much about table tennis, and here I am now learning so fast and comfortable with this game.
The controller would vibrate a little every time I hit the ball (it helped to make it more immersive), I learned to not hit it too strong, that to do a smash is very very hard not like in those arcade video games I played before, I learned the hard way why half of my serve always fault and gave the npc a win when it should be mine, I learned that 1-2 rounds of a game is not nearly enough to satisfy me.
And best of all, I dont have to pick up the loose ball like in real life lol. It was really a chore in real life when u're playing noob vs noob. We spent more times chasing the loose ball than playing. But it was eliminated here, so I can just focus on playing and smashing (argh okay.. just hit) the ball.
The only downside is that as u dont really move much and u have to hold ur power (instead of using all ur power) to make sure the ball not goes out of bound, this is not so sweaty as like playing boxing games. So, u have to play longer than those boxing games if u want to make this game as the alternative to do sport. I dont know, maybe if against the higher difficuly would make it sweaty faster.
Oh yeah, and 1 more downside is that u would need a large space to play this game (maybe at least u should be able to move forward, left and right for about 1 foot and swing ur hand without hitting anything)
Here's a video of me finally won against the easy npc :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhNpUDjUCXM
This should give u a glimpse of what the gameplay is like, and trust me, it feels much better when u experience it urself
In a summary, this is a very good simulator of table tennis. Feels very real, and addictive.
and for about $4 on discount, this is really2 a no brainer purchase.

The ball moves like it should, the racket feels like it should, and that allows the game to be really enjoyable.
Multiplayer is kinda weird. Everybody is friendly and have fun, so that's awesome, but if not many people play near you, you end up having some ping issues that make the physics feel wrong.
To somewhat compensate for that, there's a ping compensation feature that works just fine. Not perfect
BUT
If your play space isn't big enough, or does not allow for far movement of your arm from left to right, you might have some issues playing properly. The AI is unforgiving in this regard, sometimes getting free points because you can't fully move your arm to the edges of the table without hitting anything. At least you can communicate that to online players so that you don't hit your furniture and break your controllers.
If you've read older reviews, you might have seen people complain about the racket being able to go through the table. This isn't an issue anymore since they fixed it, so pay no mind to that specific complaint.
Overall, this is an amazing game. Tons of fun and realistic physics.

- I'm making all the same mistakes I do in real life.
- I know when I mishit even before the ball leaves the paddle, just like in real life.
- I ended up soaking my shirt in sweat, just like real life.
-I almost fell on my face when I tried to put my off hand out to catch myself on the table. Okay, that's not like real life.
It's addictive as hell, just like real life.

Maybe I'm just uncoordinated. I feel as if the faster/harder I play the less the physics line up. At lower speeds it's very much like the real thing (granted you have a $300 paddle and an ITTF approved table) - for those of you playing with a dollar store paddle and a cheap walmart table it'll feel vastly different, but that's because Eleven simulates high quality equipment.
10/10 this game made my waifu get her own headset so we can both play ping pong in our small, cramped apartment. Ironically in separate rooms.

However I still want to hit 'not recommended'.
As a game that targeting to build the most realistic VR TT simulator, it has kept the table penetrable to anything except the ball since released.
I am a close range player, i do a lot short balls. Almost everyone I have played with more or less swing or chop through the table. And some of then even take advantage of it. How is this be realistic??? What kind of real table allows you to do that?
The devs promised to fix it. But it's been at least half a year and no signs of solid table coming. I understand the devs focus more on Oculus users because the majority players are in Oculus platform. But a solid table is and should be a serious problem for a game targeting realistic.

I'm still upvoting since this game is good and it deserves it, and none of that is the game's fault. But don't make my mistake by buying this from Humble Bundle or something that gives out non-refundable Steam keys if you're planning to play with Quest on PC. If you're a Quest user, get it there.

In fact Eleven Table Tennis is probably the closest a video game has come to accurately simulating a real life sport (aside from motorsport). I guess you could say it's a landmark title in that respect.
There is a good variety of training options and you can always find a match online. The recently introduced ranking system ensures that you can play someone with a similar skill level. I really like that it shows you the strength of their connection as well so you can avoid any matches with lag.
This is one of the best games you can play right now and it deserves far more plaudits from the gaming media. A must-buy for anyone who loves sports titles or enjoys whiff-whaff in real life.

I dove to try and hit it back
Made a hole in my wall
Guy still scored
At least now I have more room for next time
This games physics are very spot on; it even includes the frustrating net hit scores and grazing the side of the table
Easily the best ping pong game for VR right now 10/10
EDIT: Recently upgraded to a Valve Index from a Rift S. Do not try to play this game above 90hz as of yet. The ball gets very blurry and laggy. Please stick to 90hz and below until a future update fixes this. Happy ponging!

One downside I find is that my paddle or bat skips around sometimes when I swing mid game. Not sure if down to the game or my VR setup and sensors. It can be frustrating when I lose a point due to it but hey, like I said, maybe that is my sensors causing it.
There are also lots of customisation options for your paddle, avatar, opponent and arena so if you get bored, you can fiddle with those, too.
If you want some exercise during lock-down, this is a good place to come in VR.

I'm just shocked by the accuracy of the game, just shocked. I play pretty orthodox, the AI plays pretty orthodox. So, I thought the game was just top spin, and underspin, which is 85% of what you see in high level TT.
LOL, so I start playing multiplayer and first its req players, now at 1650, I just beat a 1850ish person. Ohhh, janky sidespin all over the place with that guy. I was shocked that the engine allowed for it! All the same nonsense you might see from the best recreational player at your college. LOL. Hilarious.
Anyway, latency can be a bit of an issue, but its shockingly good. Certain things feel a little easier, but all of your mishits are accurate to real life, if your paddles angle is wrong, the ball goes where its supposed to go! Its crazy, many of my old mistakes generate the same bad result as they should. Ive got to thing that this will be used as a training tool for improving understanding. I set the ball machine to 100 underspin and let some hits loose, my god if what Ive learned works irl, then this game is teaching me things I never knew and in probably 8000 hours of life into the game. Anyway, I've taken the legendary AI to duece a few times, and its day 2, so I'll get it soon, but seriously its not particularly easy to beat. World Class with AI set to no miss is just an unreal training tool. Mind Blown!

- as close to perfect physics simulation as it gets, including ball spin. You can actually seriously learn and improve your irl TT game with this.
- beautifully rendered.
- both online matches and AI are fun to play. Have met some cool people this way actually. Being able to chat while playing ads an additional level of realism.
Suggestions:
- change the alert sound for challenge games to something different. Right now, it's the same as when scoring a point. It can be confusing during a rally, and calls can also be missed this way.
- maybe expand the AI to have different playing styles. If this is the case already, it's too subtle. Some training modes may be useful too. With the physics this real, we might as well have this as a proper training tool.

One complaint I do have is setting up a game in multiplayer. As it works currently, you have to open up the multiplayer menu and select different players to challenge manually. Sometimes the request goes through, sometimes it doesn't. I would ideally like a multiplayer queue, one for ranked and one for unranked, that will place you in a match automatically based on others searching for games. Keep the current system, but allow for the option to match make.
Also, there needs to be a cool down before asking someone for a match. I had a very persistent, highly ranked player spam me with match requests. Despite denying these immediately, they kept pushing these requests.

I am a novice and I have found the physics in this game very pleasant. In the beginning I noticed that I make a lot of real life mistakes here, but playing against AI and not having to worry about running after the ball makes it a lot easier to correct them. So I was wrecking irl against some other novice friends after practicing with this.
There is ample opportunity to play against other people online too. I have had some pleasant late night chit-chats with strangers here.
Be warned though it needs more than the usual VR space to be able to jump around and immerse yourself in the game completely.

However, the unexpected lack of a workshop or any extra content is really a shame for such a simple title. An advice for Oculus Quest owners, make sure you buy the native game from the Oculus Store, because the steam version thro Virtual Desktop (or even LINK) will give you some tracking delay and that will make your paddle act invisible on fast swings, i was using WIFI 5G with the router just 2 meters away from me and the lag was there, not much but enough to ruin the experience. Also make sure you have 90hz enabled for the best results.
It's a nice game to spend some time, i recommend it.
Also a great caring support!

The only thing I don't like is when the AI serves automatically, the interval between servings is too short. It is not too realistic. In real life, we usually need to pick up the ball before serving. The AI is doing it too quickly.

- For starters, it's probably one of the most purist VR experiences you can have. Boot up the game, set up your table, and it's time to play. No beating around the bush here!
- Multiplayer is definitely a selling point, but I feel the single-player is worth it on its own. The AI you go up against will not mess around on high difficulties. There's also minigames to check out, or you can just practice your shots and servings.
- The only thing I'd consider before buying is your play area. Standing isn't exactly the best with the leaning and swinging, so make sure you'll be able to work with the table.
If you're interested in table tennis or even looking to learn it, you're gonna want to see this.
Did somebody say beer pong?
Instead I was told that many people have donated and the game is underpriced. So if you sell this game at $20 why not raise the price? If people are willing to donate many times the amount of the initial purchase then raise the price. I did not mean for my initial review to be negative in any way (I complimented the game in fact) but the amount of content this game has in its current state does not warrant a price of $20. I'm sorry but my review is a review, it's subjective.

Physics are extremely realistic, rarely your hit doesnt get connected to the ball when hitting too fast but its really rare.
Devs are really supportive and have a Discord where you can ask some questions when having problems or something.
And: You definetly don't need to be a Table Tennis pro irl, most people I've met are very beginner friendly when they seeing you struggle with something.
Only negatives for me are the dullness of the ingame play area, would wish for some customizable play areas.
And also would wish for a move key because my room is so god damn small, I must go ultra instinct mode and be so aware of my movement and my area so I neither destroy my VR Set, nor my room.
It's a 10/10 for me anyways because of the fun I've had so far.

The physics (which is one of the most important parts of Table Tennis) are even better. Highly recommend if you want a realistic table tennis game.

The physics feel solid and realistic, the controls are intuitive and responsive, and it's just a lot of fun to play. This is the game I'll be showing friends who are new to VR.

Thank you Dev for helping me deduce the problems I was having and setting me up for a cleaner table tennis experience! Very kind of you and I'm glad you care so much about the game and the people who play it. :)

+Physics are actually really good and feels very close to playing in real life.
+You can set different speeds and spin on your racket
+You can customize the way racket is held as to mimic in real life, although can take a bit of work to get right.
+There are modes where you can practice against a ball shooter with excellent customization in how the ball will hit.
-The AI is hard at first, but has a hard time returning certain balls. Making it quite easy. This is overcome though by playing real players instead!

Multiplayer works really well, and I've been able to find games quickly after starting it up.
Pro-tip: Purchase a 3D printed paddle attachment.
Pro-tip #2: Try the beta, it's a huge improvement.

Now I just need this whole pandemic thing to end so that I can go ahead and see if any of these skills I've picked up translate to the real world... (If you're on Index, enable the Beta. It's so much better!)

Takes a while to get the settings sorted (but it's the same IRL when planning to buy a bat), and once you do, it's incredible how immersed you feel - to the point where I play with my table tennis shoes and shift my weight and move my feet like IRL.
The in-game ball machine has saved me a lot of money as I was planning to buy a real one, and this is in many ways better (don't have to fish after balls after a session, session can go as long as you can, more ability to change spin/speed/direction/origin point/variation, settings can be stored for later use etc etc). The player base is some of the nicest I've ever seen, and there are some truly top notch players on there (despite my significant real life expertise - I've worked as a coach - there's a player on there who has beaten me over 50 times without me winning one). There are also players of all skill levels and most people who can do it won't just blast you off the table, they'll give you some tips and encouragement.
If you're even casually interested in table tennis, if you want something as a low-impact fitness game (or if you're like me and can play well, a totally exhausting sweaty adrenaline-fest), or especially if you like table tennis in real life, do yourself a favour and get this now!

What needs work:
1. We need an easier way to play online with friends. The lobby system is antiquated.
2. There should be an option to disable ALL multiplayer notifications. Having to look to the right to X out of notifications while playing a game is very distracting, but even less distracting than the extremely loud PING sound.
3. Maps other than the standard dorm room have many performance issues.
I only type this out because I love this game so much. It's awesome despite the issues, but if those problems could be fixed, this would be a 10/10 game for me.

It could use more customization, like different enviroment, and paddles, and helmets... but the physics are spot on (i did have to fiddle a bit with the paddle options so it would feel right for me)
Easy to pick up, there are other players online most of the time, and apparently i suck a bit less than others, because ive won some of my games!
