Ich liebe dieses Spiel. Leider fehlt in der Anniversary Edition Pokis Kommentare. Das ist zwar schade aber es tut dem Spiel keinen Abbruch. Wer point & klick mag wird dieses hier lieben. Besonders mag ich den schwarzen Humor im Spiel. Harvey will einfach die Welt brennen sehen. XD

Umfangreiches Spiel, das nach einiger Zeit auch zum zweiten Mal Spaß macht. Tolle Story, tolle Grafik rundherum ein tolles Spiel.

Ja, gutes Rätselspiel, erfordert manchmal Kreativität! Wenn mann Hilfe benötigt, dann weil man lost ist (wie ich) hat sehr spaß gemacht, schönes Ende des Spiels. Sehr zu empfehlen!!

Das Game ist eine super Ergänzung des Originals. Ich besitze auch das Original-Game, allerdings stürzte dies immer ab und ich konnte es nicht zocken deswegen. Zudem kaufte ich es mir, um den neuen Art Style mal Ingame auszuprobieren. Ich mag beide Stile, was ich aber am besten finde ist, dass du zwischen den alten und dem neuen Style switchen kannst. Wenn man also nicht das Original besitzt, aber nicht im neuen Art Style zocken will, weil man den alten mehr mag oder so, kann man diesen einfach auswählen und beliebig auch zum anderen wechseln. Ansonsten wurden die Bugs (z.B. Spielabstürze) gefixt. Ich finde das Game wegen den neuen Features natürlich besser als das Original. Man muss auch bedenken, dass das Original schon ein paar Jährchen auf dem Markt ist, Poki aber der Meinung war, nochmal Liebe reinzustecken mit einer Anniversary Edition. Das finde ich super :D

Wunderschönes Point & Click Adventure, mein absolutes Lieblingsspiel seit Jahren, und die Hoffnung für einen dritten Teil stirbt zuletzt.
Humor ist 1A, der Graphikstil einzigartig und das Spiel ist Qualität pur, sollte jeder mal gespielt haben.

Endlich eine Version, die unter Linux läuft ohne dass man die zerraufte Frisur unter einer Alukappe verstecken muss.
Daedalic hat sich hier richtig Mühe gegeben! Das Spiel wurde für hohe Auflösungen kompatibel gemacht (Full-HD und 4K in 16:9 geht) - dabei wurden viele Hintergründe angepasst oder sogar neu gezeichnet. Man kann im Menü zwischen klassischer und Aniversary-Version wählen und sich die Unterschiede direkt anschauen. Wer es mag kann auch einmal die englische Sprachausgabe probieren - ich bleibe bei deutsch, die ist meiner Meinung nach wesentlich besser (und/weil gewohnter).

überarbeitung sehr gut gelungen. Nun aktuelle HD Grafik und mit Interface. Humorvoll und mit knackigen Rätsel. Storyline irre. Die Sprecher der Protagonisten sind geradezu perfekt. Mein Favorit: Harvey`s Kommentare. War erst skeptisch trotz top Bewertungen vor 10 Jahren. Als Anniversary Edition ein Muss für alle Adventures Gamer. Ein Klassiker.

Sehr nices remake, das einzige was mich stört ist das neue Charakter Design von Edna, vielleicht muss ich mich aber einfach noch dran gewöhnen. Gibt trotzdem eine Empfehlung.

Ein Spiel mit einzigartigem Charme und Humor. Die Anniversary Edition bringt es auf den neuen Stand der Technik, ohne dabei auch nur das kleinste Detail auszulassen.

This game is bizarre and there were definitely aspects of the story that could had been handled better, but whenever I think of the experience it offers not only for being very distinct from many others across games but also for the way it has been executed it makes me very glad I made sure to give it a try back when it's artstyle was poor in comparison to this recent version.

Edna's a really interesting character and no wonder she's in the title of her game, she's the charm from beginning to end and though everyone else has their part none would be any impactful without her. The way there's so much recorded dialogue, and how there's hundreds of item combinations and interactions with unique responses really gives the player the opportunity to experience a day in her self-absorbed life. Hours of recorded dialogue of her playing around with her imagination, having conversations with mundane objects, having something to say to every little thing or just nothing but noises. And while there's so much that unravels her personality, most of the game takes place in a single building to which she's confined to. I wouldn't think a game would go so far to show the daydreams of a crazy girl, and it makes me think on some people I've met in life, which gave effort to their daydreams and to get themselves absorbed and involved in their own imagination, allowing even mundane objects invoke a series of thoughts, all while they are confined to their own homes.

Even with her problems you end up supporting Edna in her escape, and when she finally escapes you feel slightly worried on what's going to happen next now that she's outside, because Edna only spent time outside at her childhood, the rest of her life was spent inside the mental hospital. She's not connected to the world in the slightest sense and she never matured despite being a young adult by the time the game takes place. Fatherless, motherless, it puts her in a very unfair situation if you are to argue she's not insane and shouldn't be in the mental hospital. Because inside there she never got prepared for life, and now she's highly dependent on the very thing that hasn't prepared her, the mental hospital to which she's allowed all her daydreams and thoughts.

This feeling of abandonment is well shown when Edna reaches her home at night to find it completely forgotten. There's no music in this part, just the wind. I just wondered to myself what Edna is going to do, she has nowhere to go, no one to turn to, and she's not prepared in the slightest to the real world. Nothing in her life seems to favor her escape, and it all feels very unjust, were it not for the possibility that perhaps Edna's place really is the mental hospital. The game's ambiguous enough to leave people discussing whether she deserves to retain her personality or submit to the mental hospital's testings and undo her integrity to remain there. Which is something I like about the game, just how much does it take to have someone be put righteously in a mental hospital and if there weren't unfair cases of this? As well as just how an mental hospital can affect somebody when they are there for years.

I'm one to say Edna deserved a second chance she never got. Edna bricht aus und kommt nie wieder.

Over 6,5 Years its since i played the Original on Steam. Its from 2008 and since 2013 on Steam (Original).

+++ Puzzles still unique & interesting

+++ easy 100 % Achievements, crazy Ideas (but could have a few more new Combinations)

++ Story still really good after 2nd play, just a little bit sad

++ Graphics are really fine when you see the Changes to Original, but sadly sometimes a little bit empty

++ German some very smart Dialogs & Play on Words & a lot to combinate with each other

++ German Sounds are mostly very good

--- no FIVE (5) Trading Cards

-- very short if you rush through & know how to play

+/- sometimes you feel a little bit helpless with Puzzles (a little Help/ Hint Option) would be good if you stuck (but you can watch Online)

I am so happy this Anniversary Edition come out. I love Edna & Harvey. I am still waiting for Nr. 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 but i hope at least 2023 come out Harveys New Eyes Anniversary Edition <3

This version of the game features new, completely redrawn scenarios and characters. You're free to select the graphic style you prefer in every moment, by changing a setting.
Its achiements are the same of the old version.
I've loved the old graphics and I appreciate the amount of work they've done to give a new chance to their first videogame ever.
Let's trash this place yuppieeeee

a pleasurable experience for anyone who likes good puzzles and a story. really good remake of a really good game. buy it to support the devs and the genre. point and click games puzzle adventure should not be a dead genre.

pros

+ great looking, hand drawn, colorful background artwork
+ decent voice acting
+ story very good. it's about a amnesiac female mental patient who locked up in an asylum. her father convicted for murdering the son of the asylum's owner, Dr. Marcel and she decides to clear her father's name. story also got dark turn with a reveal in the end.
+ plenty of wacky side characters
+ two playable character
+ when you press to space, hotspots highlighted so no need to pixel hunting
+ nice background musics
+ there are two endings depending on the choice you make
+ there are steam achievements
+ there is auto save

cons

- plenty of obtuse and unintuitive puzzles with nonsensical solutions. If you've played another Daedalic games like the Deponia series, you'll know what I mean.
- you re in an asylum and all side characters crazy people. this means that you often have to have long and unreasonable conversations with them. unfortunately you have to listen to them to solve some puzzles
- confusing and unpractical point and click interface. it's take time getting used to it
- lack of interactive map causes too much repetitive back and forth get go

Overall, this is an pretty good adventure game. despite the frustrating puzzles and frequent backtracking, i enjoyed it.

BUY IT NOW IT IS SO GOOD.
Almost everything has an item reaction to anything. You can try screwdriver with bowling ball and it will have a reaction.
The humor is very good and it is very much worth the money, i got the original and this one is just an improved version. Developer commentary is also very interesting and a cool feature to see behind the scenes or for some trivia.

This game (among many others from Daedallic) requires a walkthrough. I found myself completely stuck at certain points with nothing working.

That being said, I found this game to be quite enjoyable. While it wasn't some mystical ride like the other games, you could tell a lot of heart went into it.

I got this game when it was on sale for $2 so I'd say it was well worth that price.

Fun game with an enjoyable and absorbing storyline, but the actual interface isn't always intuitive. It helps a lot if you hit space to show hotspots, and know how to drive a stick.

I just love this game. Good story and well fleshed out characters, though I still struggle with some of the puzzles. The little jokes here and there compensate for me trying to brute force everything. Definitely a game to checkout when you have time.

The new visuals are beautiful but with all the bright colours and quirky characters, I wasn't quite prepared for how dark this game would get.
The story is creative and engaging, I just wish some of the themes could have been explored a bit more (and maybe a happier ending for some of the characters). Also, a few more choices could have been interesting, for example [spoiler] whether or not to free the key master or whether or not to eventually kill him. [/spoiler]
I played parts of the game with both, the English and the German dub and I have to say the voice acting is great in both versions. It's also extremely impressive how you can pretty much look at everything, talk to anything and use anything with anything resulting in different - pretty funny - fully voiced commentaries. At times, this felt almost a bit overwhelming though.

This was recommended by a friend during a sale but being a genre I don't play often I thought why not and so began my play through of Edna & Harvey: The Breakout. Being the anniversary edition the visuals have been given a touch up compared to the original while the audio still seems to be the same. You play as Edna with her stuffed rabbit Harvey and your goal is to break out of the asylum and to find answers about your past and why you've been locked up for many years.

Most of the time is spent exploring, gathering, crafting and talking to the facilities many weird and wonderful residents learning their stories or picking up useful bits of info or items. Some of these are straightforward and easy to do while others require trial and error especially if your not into these styles of games and accidentally overlook a detail or two that progresses the game further. Once you get used to how things are done it does get easier but also helps when your friend gives hints and tips after they finish having a chuckle from watching you wander around with little clue as to whats going on.

So despite stumbling and fumbling around A LOT until I got into the games rhythm I still enjoyed myself so next time when it's on sale I'd recommend giving it a go as the story is enjoyable. Also thanks to my friend for pointing this one out :)

I love this remaster, looks just as polished as Harvey's New Eyes and the Deponia games, and still allows the option to switch to the original game at any time. The Edna and Harvey games have a special place in my heart as my favorite games by Daedalic, and this remaster gave a refreshing, updated experience fitting for a 10 year anniversary. Great work and hope to see more Edna and Harvey in the future!

This is an amazing game and an excellent remaster. The Edna & Harvey games generally give a special vibe; they are surreal while remaining down-to-earth. The art, especially in the remaster, is a pleasure to look at and the music is... music to my ears. This game was made with blood, sweat, and tears, and it shows in the ridiculous amount of interactions and voice-lines (maybe too many...). It has soul, because the developers cared enough to craft a unique experience: a whimsical approach to a story of (literal) insanity and murder. The only problem I have with it is the design of some of the puzzles. The food-fight puzzle is downright ridiculous and mostly relies on trial-and-error (they should have at least lengthened the animation that serves as a clue). Most of the other puzzles manage to convey the clues and feel rewarding once you solve them. I personally prefer Harvey's New Eyes, since it capitalizes more on dark humor, but I definitely recommend both games.

+The graphics got a lot better than the original one.
+The dialogues and monologues are very interesting.
-i don't recommend this game for those who don't have time and nerve to play games but worth it.
- sometimes the riddles are hard or take a lot of walking to solve.

I can recommend this game. It's a typical point and click game with nice hand-drawn graphics. You will encounter many good and some tough puzzles, a good but towards the end rather disturbing story and many funny or strange characters. Definitely a must buy for all genre fans.

The game also has a great working Linux version. I only saw one very small graphical bug in one scene. But I wouldn't be surprised if this bug appears on all platforms.
