Jetzt muss ich hier doch auch meinen Senf dazugeben.. Das Spiel habe ich hier noch Original auf CD und auf meinem Zweiten Steam ACC der momentan still gelegt ist. Habs erst vor kurzem nochmal komplett durch gespielt und ich muss einfach sagen es lohnt sich! Ich kenne es natürlich noch von meiner Kindheit, wenn jemand das nicht kennt und auch nur die neuen Spiele heutzutage kennt denke ich der tut sich etwas schwer vielleicht, kann ich schlecht sagen. Zwar wie viele hier auch geschrieben haben ist das Spiel von der Technik und Grafik etwas veraltet aber es ist 100% Ein Klassiker der auch heutzutage immer noch mega viel Spaß macht! Und zudem ganz ehrlich für den Preis ist es sowieso kein Beinbruch

Action-RPG Klassiker. Das Spiel ist zwar sehr Linear und die Spielmechanik etwas angestaubt, Dungeon Siege kann aber durch eine interessante und abwechslungsreiche Spielwelt, den großartigen Soundtrack und den Nostalgie Faktor punkten.

Den zweiten Teil habe ich lange und oft Gespielt. Und ein paar mal den ersten begonnen, aber nie durch. Das hole ich jetzt nach und merke das auch der erste einige Vorzüge zum Zweiten hat. (Größere Gruppe z.B) Ich empfehle also wärmstens für jeden der Dungeon Siege 2 mag auch diesen Teil zu Herzen zu nehmen und auch wenn es als Vorgänger einige Features weniger hat. So macht er wirklich Spaß und man merkt sofort, wieso sie im zweiten Teil Dinge anpassten.

Guter Klassiker! Leider des öfteren Abstürze bei mir gehabt, wodurch die Spielerfahrung gelitten hat. Trotzdem noch ein paar Stündchen im Spiel verbracht. Einfach toller Klassiker, mit leichten Kompatibilitätsproblemen - zumindest bei mir. Allerdings sind für diese Fälle auch Hilfe stellen angegeben, da diese Probleme bekannt sind. Fazit: Daumen hoch!

Buying this game on Steam is a gamble. A lot of people have problems running it, but the Steam community does offer solutions in the discussion section of this game.

I changed the compatibility and then had to run the program under administrator. Because of this, Steam was unable to count my play time. The play time came out to be around 13 hours, but that is because I missed three quests on the way.

After that, it played smoothly almost the entire time, but when I fought the final boss, once I would defeat him, the game x-ed out. I would re-open the app and be loaded right back to the moment before I would fight him again.

However, I can live with pretty much beating it even if I don't get to see the end result (since I can watch it on YouTube I suppose). For some people, that may not be the case, so if you do consider buying it on Steam, be aware of these potential problems.

As for the game itself, I truly LOVED it. Despite being dated, it is truly an ultimate, classic ARPG experience.

It's old, the graphics are period, but if any game was worthy of a remaster, this is certainly one of them.

Dungeon Siege

Revolutionary for its time.. but with dated graphics and sound, has a hard time running on modern systems this game fails to meet current times until remastered.. if that ever happens

Sorry to say but this game is very very old, great for its time but doesn't work on my system given its age as mentioned

Plus dungeon Siege 3 is an absolute garbage game so my feelings of this whole series is tainted.

Fun, but be warned, the game crashes after you beat Gom, the final boss. Check forum to see others having the same problem since 2020. No fix coming. Still fun for $2.

Old school CRPG, lots of fun without overly complicated game mechanics. The story is generic, the side quests are very few, the main quest is as linear as it could be - but this is a game from over twenty years ago and it's still extremely playable and fun.

I've played this game as a kid. Never got to finish it, but started with a new character like 10 times. Today, as a grown adult, I've managed to finish it finally.

The game itself is old (2001) and I've ran into some game crashes. The major one is right after you beat the endgame boss, the game crashes on you. The thing is, it's still a very decent game even today. Sure, the graphics are outdated and the story a bit bland but it's still worth it in my view. If you compare this to other RPG at the time, DS1 is clearly one of the best, if not the best.

The multiplayer is inexistant, but with some minor tweaking, you can still host a game and play with friends. There is also a seperate map/story in MP that you can play, which is different from the singleplayer map/story.

Maxing a character is nearly impossible without cheats tho. As the maximum level is 150 in every skill (melee, ranged, nature magic and combat magic). Nevertheless, reaching decent levels is easy.

This game might not be for everybody, but for me it's a nostalgia trip and I'm glad it exists. Although I'm a bit sad that the company (Gas Powered Games) that made it is no more, which probably means no remaster. :(

Personally, when this game game out I was instanty hooked. It may not appeal to all, but to me it was one of those games that not just engaged, but refused to let you go for very long. Unfortunately, with updated operating systems, development of the program seems to have fallen by the wayside. I've not been able to get the damned thing to run properly on Windows 10 or 11.

Just such a shame.

I like Dungeon Siege, but without Legends of Aranna, several quality of life features are missing, and it shows. And for some reason, the FPS are really low, even though I have a decent hardware.

I played this a very long time ago and i was very impressed with the scope of the game, it was huge and to my child brain an absolute amazing feat of engeniering. I was twice as impressed when i figured out that the multiplayer had a unique map that was EVEN BIGGER! So i decided to just re purchase the game on steam after all those years to relive that part of my childhood but low and f u ckin behold the multiplayer is compleately disabled. No i am not talkin like no gamespy no online service disabled. I am talking they f u c k ing disabled the entire multiplayer menu so you cant even do lan with your friends in the same room. The multiplayer had a compleately unique map that was detached from the SP and now you will never get to see it. Pirate this game instead, what a disgrace

An interesting and fun hybrid of the mechanics of Diablo and Baldurs Gate. As with all Action RPG's it does get repetetive after a while. Still a recommend for fans of the genre.

Dungeon Siege is a classic! I played it in 2003 and now again on Steam, and I had the same amount of fun as before.
It's an epic adventure. What I like most about this game is the charachter progression. You start as a humble farmer who is informed that the kingdom is in peril, and you are sent to deliver the message, but in the beginning you don't have combat skills, you wear rags and have only a wooden rake in your hands. You will pass through more then 20 locations, fight against a miriad of enemies of every type, and in the process you will become a true hero, and you will gear up to the maximum.
This is a pure Hack and Slash RPG, so fighting is at the core of the game. Those who like story driven games or lots of puzzle solving will not find this game fun.
There are quests but in this game, but in this case, they are all solved by.....fighting!
Graphics is not very good, which is understandable for a 2002 game. But, it was good enouph for me, and besides.....this game got famous for it's game-play, and not for other things.
Also, this is a hard core game, like games were back in the days. It's challenging in some parts and you have to plan what kind of team you will have in ways of classes, gear and tactics!

This is a great game for those who enjoy RPG's but don't want to deal with a points system. It allows you to master skills by simply using them to become a specialist or a more well rounded character. Also, the ability to only drink as much of a Health/Mana potion as you need to top off your health is another plus.

Yes, the raw Steam version isn't what you're after.

But there is a community for this classic and a look at the Guide 'Legends of Aranna + Extras' will soon put you on the right path to all the Steam version could have been if it were updated.

It's all doable and well worth doing to play a great title today :)

Played this when it first came out originally years ago. Love a good dungeon crawl. Got this on Steam recently on sale even for like $2. According to this thing, I've played for 773 hours - that's a good $2 investment! There was an initial glitch on my system (Win 10 vs the old tech this game is), but a helpful guide elsewhere in the Steam Community solved that problem. The storyline is very linear, but it's still good and the monster variety is there. Perhaps the game drags on a little bit, but still good.

Classic. Something about the environment just calls to me. This game should have been made with an FPS mode since it's the best way to see the world design and experience it (don't have to stay in FPS mode forever, but e.g. some RTS games like Dungeon Keeper have it and it's too sad a lot of games don't). It's environment is so gorgeous. There's something about it. Altho it is very lo-fi 3D it is something that begs to be roamed around in.

It one of the better old-school action RPGs.

Tell me about an RPG game where the eight-person party
fights against robots in the goblin mines.

Dungeon Siege is a better game of the whole series.

Good macro-control of your party.
Also, you can play solo if you want without any companions.
The characters are lvlup with maximum logic because it depends
on choosing a weapon or magic, if you have a bow in hand you will
lvlup as an archer, etc.

A fun hack and slash that I never played back in the day. I hate inventory management, and there is a lot of that here, but with a few simple mods I gave myself larger backpacks (a problem with the mules). I tried to cross train my main character early and now he is the weakest. Stick with one type of attack per character! Anyway, I have had a good time playing through half of it. Some parts are a little long for the constant repetition that is hack and slashes, but the progression is steady and satisfying. The worst part is the map, for how useful it is, it is not hard to lose your path or get disoriented. Also some minor bugs and some quests were broken, but for whatever reason I can't stop playing, morning, noon and night. Looking forward to the sequels.

I love this game, but somebody seriously needs to buy the rights and remaster it for the modern era. No new mechanics. No new gimmicks. Just HD graphics, bug fixes, and current software compatibility. That's it.

Incredible game, it was the first rpg that I played as a kid and today I finally came back to it to finally beat it. Gather a group of ravaged townsfolk, mercenaries, or kingsmen on a journey to save the kingdom from a long forgotten evil. Kill a plethora of monsters, fiends, and other horrors all while getting sweet loot. For a game made as long ago as this it looks so good graphically and has a fantastic soundtrack. I can't recommend it enough.

After 18 years still fun to play. Played this when it was released and wanted to see how it held up until this day. I had some stuttering issues on win10, but a simple work around exists.
1) Run DSVideoConfig.exe that is in the installation directory (SteamsteamappscommonDungeon Siege 1).
2) Select your graphics card and hit ok.
3) Open DungeonSiege.ini. Copy the first line that shows the name of the graphics card.
4) Open the folder C:UsersYOUR USERNAMEDocumentsDungeon Siege and open the DungeonSiege.ini file there and paste the text that you have copied from the other file to this files first line.

I remember when I was a kid, waiting for the (awesome) game Neverwinter Nights. But I needed to kill some time, and Dungeon Siege also came out. Man, was I glad i bought the game.
No, it's not as deep as the D&D rpg's like Baldur's gate or Neverwinter. It is more a diablo hack and slash type of game. But it is great fun and even more fun when playing the game co-op with friends.
It's a classic and I am glad it is still playable on modern window 10 machines.
In single player you start alone, but soon you can hire NPC's to aid you in your quest. Also you can buy donkey's to carry your gear. In multiplayer co-op you cannot do this. But isn't really needed. Sadly also no donkey in co-op, but so far there is always an ass so that got it covered.

It's actually a great classic game, but I have to give this steam version a negative review.
In this version, the ending was removed from the game. After I kill the final boss Gom, it just go to the main menu instead of the ending and the credit roll.

Remaster with properly working multiplayer please. It's literally all I want.
I used to play this game for countless hours every day after school growing up and if there is one thing I'd spend far too much money on, it's a remaster of dungeon siege with some minor rebalancing(mana costs can get absurdly high)

Just reached the end of the game to find out that the ending cutscene is missing. Sure, no big deal, just some text and speech, no fancy movie, but still, after finding out that I am unable to purchase and play Legends of Aranna expansion it becomes quite disappointing. Sure, you can follow a few guides to play the expansion, but you have to install a few things that are not official (adding the missing content from somewhere around the web, install something else to keep your saves compatibility, and maybe others). Me, I prefer to have the whole content available. I am just sorry that I also bought Dungeon Siege 2, which has the same problem.

Now, leaving aside the frustration of not having the complete package, the game is an RPG, with very little story, and very repetitive to artificially extend the duration of the game. Some areas feel like they never end, and it looks like the same over and over, until you get out of a dungeon, see the light, only to go back into the dungeon, and go back to light in the same woods. I didn't feel the same for Diablo 2 (as comparison) for example, maybe because it feels more rewarding (cinematics, memorable bosses, more story).

There are a few crashes, especially in the Dark Forest (or something). So in this area, I had to play only with the map on the screen, otherwise it was always crashing. I thought I couldn't continue the game, until I read this (to play with the map overlay) on the net. So I am not the only one with this problem, seems to be common.

You play with a team, not with only one character, and have to find items for all. This can become tiresome after a while. They have some skills, but not a skill tree. They just increase Melee skill by fighting melee. Or archery or 2 types of magic. That's it, all the leveling that can be done in the game. No real skills to make a difference, but they are compensated by a variety of magic. I found myself using my magic only for healing, so I never needed the variety of magic.

My recommendation is to not lose your time with this game or with the sequel. Otherwise, prepare with patience, because you are in for a ride (I am referring to the problems, not the actual game). In 2020, there are better games. I returned here for nostalgia, just to find out that is it not what I remembered.

An older isometric Dungeon crawling sort of game that aged surprisingly well. Prior to the 32 hours put into the game, I had not played any of the Dungeon Siege franchise. I played on a vanilla install with no mods/patches.

The gameplay is pretty simple as the majority of the game can be played with just the mouse. That does not mean it is easy though as some of the systems are older and lack the polish of 18 years of progress. If you can push away the current mechanics and details and play as if this was in 2002, the game is very well done. The two biggest gripes, one that could have been resolved at that the time. The other I am unsure how to make it more fluid. The first being inventory management and equipment comparison. Inventory management is very similar to Diablo, Sacred or even Torchlight with its grid based storage. That is fine and serviceable but there is no equipment comparison that I could find so you would have to hover over each piece of equipment and manually compare it vs being able to pull up a side by side chart to compare the items. The second issue I had was magic users were a bit restricted as they have spellbooks with the ability to hold I believe 10 spells but only one can be active and only two can be on the hotbar.

A neat aspect of Dungeon Siege unlike other RPGs is that you can recruit multiple people and use them all in combat in conjunction vs a limit of 3-4 in battle. Which I think was my downfall in my playthrough as I stopped recruiting people after 6 party members, I didn't send away the members that were less skilled than newer recruits either. There is no fast travel to older locations either, so you will end up running back through huge areas in the game if you want to try and recruit somebody you left.

I am retiring my time on Dungeon Siege because of a forced encounter in Chapter 5 that I can't seem to figure out a way to beat which is a real bummer but older areas don't seem to respawn enemies and that eliminates the potential to grind for level and skill.

There are plenty of posts in the Steam Forums for patching the Steam version with an expansion that was released for the game that is not included in the steam release anymore apparently, along with Widescreen and high resolution support.

This game holds a special place in my heart. it was a game my dad and I played a lot, and I kept playing even after he beat it. Hundreds of hours, put self imposed limitations to challenge myself and then I finally put it away. When my dad passed away, I came back to it as it's some of my most cherished memories. I lost the discs when I moved, and finding it on Steam is going to allow me to play through with my son. Even if he doesn't hold it as dear as I do in the end, I want to show him something his grandfather and I bonded over.

Yes, incomplete. Legends of Aranna are NOT included. If you want it, you have to browse through guides and modify game files. Oh and of course this is illegal (but shht everyones do that anyway).

So you're warned, if you wanna play Dungeon Siege, read first about how to get the complete version, or you'll end up definely disappointed.

EDIT: Don't expect any multiplayer support aswell. Heh, what did you expect? It's still possible to play multi though, but again you have to browse through guides and do the things yourself, hopefully there is a very active community behind this that provide mods too.

An old dungeon crawler game that broke a mould. It sported 'no loadscreens'... throughout it's playtime. When you were playing on a 486DX, this was something almost unheard of. One of Microsofts triumphs and a good game... recommended.

Epic nostalgia!
This game is made to be cheesed out! If you find a way to take advantage of some broken spells or mechanics you better use it! Cause enemies have infinite mana and ALWAYS attack yhe weakest party member so forget about formation it's not that effective unless you send your tank 10 meters forwrd then rest of the team or else enemies will walk right pass your tank to your weak member so you will always have that one guy who always almost dies! and if you buff him/her, good luck on the next weakest one on the line! Lol!!

The game is all about placement of your 8 units and switching spells. (or grinding to be the one man army!) loot stats are almost a joke.

Recommend you to play it with the resolution fix and large font.
DO NOT play it with the patch mod it will brake some items and the pixies! (also your saves are bound to your mods so good luck on rolling it back!)

If you can get the expansion cause steam version suck as hell! how? no online option + no ending cinematic! yeah after killing the last boos game just kicks your sorry clicker into the main menu!

Also if you get the multiplayer working, It's rather a life style of it's own! it's so long and fun. I still remember going through the vast desert with my brother. Ah... good times!

speaking of bosses fist boss is just the worst boss. after that all boss fights are cool. some even have multi phase. last boss was a bit weak but I enjoyed it.

Music is just so good and epic. it's best tracks are at the first and and the end of the game. so many memories.

art is good I like how armors look. I like it more then ds 2 to be honest.
so glad I finally finished it! :D

I give this game the score of childhood memories out of ten!

First played this game when I came across it on a disc from a PC magazine. It came with the demo, which allowed you to get to Stonebridge, but no further. I fell in love with it then, the weapons, the gameplay, the characters - even the story was enthralling for someone who hadn't even reached double digits yet. A few years later, I managed to source the full game and I done everything I could do it in. Since then over the years I have played this game well over 20 times and I haven't gotten bored since.

This game not only holds nostalgic value for me, but the game itself is superb in every single way. If you liked Diablo, you'll like this - simple as that.

Where do I even begin, let me summarise a long story into a single sentence,

This game holds a place in my nostalgia loving heart.

But seriously, this game is enjoyable both in it's Singleplayer and Multiplayer modes, the story is engaging for those looking for a story to follow, the character progression system as limited as it is, is truly nonetheless impressive, the choice of weapons, armour and magic allows players an unlimited array of configurations.

The NPC characters in singleplayer are unique and diverse, and a select few say some interesting things and even provide additional backstory to give the player a better idea of the world they are in, recruitable AND useful NPC characters can be a blessing in moments where situations can get pretty dire.

The audio fits in very well with the games overall theme, dynamically changing with each area, the graphics are about what you expect from something released in 2002, Subjectively, I think the graphics have aged, but the amazing gameplay well makes up for that.

The multiplayer is equally great and fun, especially when playing with friends and/or family, though I have to confess, getting a multiplayer game setup, unfortunately, requires hamachi(unless you and your friends/family are on the same network as you are), this sadly is the games biggest flaw as the game does not see anymore support from Developer Gas Powered Games.

The game came with an expansion called Legends of Aranna, which adds new land to explore, a backpack, and more, unfortunately, you will have to download Killah's Legends Of Aranna patch(There is a guide on Steam) to be able to play Legends of Aranna.

Overall this game is quite enjoyable, and if your an RPG fan or gamer period, Then I would like to recommend that you purchase this game, Download and install Killah's Legends Of Aranna patch, and enjoy.

I give this game in its current state an 8/10, a great game despite the problem with making and playing a Multiplayer game to play with others on.

Fantastic game that's actually aged pretty well. Also one of the only ARPGs I know of where you have a group! 5 characters and a mule to carry your stuff, and they can multiclass as much as they want. Fantastic game. Do yourself a favour though and hit up the guides for this game and apply the one that updates it to the Legends of Arana expansion and nab the HD textures/expanded view distance from MODDB and enjoy yourself a wonderful game with a nice sheen to it. Btw windows shortcuts work in this game. CTRL + A = Select all party members. CTRL + S = Save.

0 Hours on Steam but i've played probably over a thousand hours, one of my favorite games EVER. I'd say it aged pretty well unlike Dungeon Siege 3, mostly due to it's simplicity.

Gorgeous graphics for the time, used to run decently on an AMD Sempron 2600 with an GeForce MX4000 and 256 Mm ram.

Linear hack and slash, the story is okay, nothing to call home about, but the modability was where it would excel. There used to be a ton of mods, from modded items and spells, to huge fan made campaigns. Even the gas powered games made Ultraean Peninsula campaign was fun to play over and over and over again and i bet it still is.

Don't buy at full price, but don't miss it on sale, it's nearly free and definitely worth.

(check out the guides on steam if you struggle with crashes, it's fairly easy to make the game run on modern PC-s)

This game is quite capable of sucking you in for hours. I was afraid to stop playing in the middle of a dungeon, because I didn't want to get lost in there. And once I got out of said dungeon, I was too curious about what was coming next, so I kept playing.

The game itself is fairly easy (finished on normal ~10 years ago, played for 11 hours in hte last couple of days).

- You need to spend a whole bunch of time properly outfitting your 8 characters: they each have 13 equip slots, most equipment has certain requirements, and you have to change them very often as the game progresses.

- There are melee fighters, archers, and 2 kinds of mages. It's a very simple system. Mages have summoning, buff/debuff, damaging and healing spells. Don't expect a lot of tactical moves/combos in this game. It's all about finding the right balance of front-line/back-line, fighters/healers.

- If you invest enough time into managing your inventory, and find the right team composition, then it's smooth sailing, really. At that point, your only concern is protecting your backline. Always be aware of your team formation, always make sure that your melee fighters are the first one in.

Overall, it's a nice experience. A lot of similar games use the system where each chapter or whatever is centered around a town, and you keep returning into that town after some fighting. Like Dungeon Siege 2. This game however, is linear. Once you leave a town, you know you'll never be back there. You have no idea how long it'll take until you see a friendly face again. This causes a way more jourey-like experience. A true adventure, with hardly any sense of safety on the way.

Attention: Read the discussion forums and purchase with caution! The final boss crashes the game so you may not be able to 'beat' it.

A classic dungeon crawler from my early college days. Golly, I think I spent several hundred hours on it then.

My only complaint about this game(aside from the final boss) is that the multiplayer has been disabled. This is a bummer because multiplayer is often a staple in dungeon crawlers.

It's still fun even without the multiplayer, and runs smoothly on my PC. The story is just as captivating as it was before and I love that character building is all up to you. Do you wanna be an archer with a splash of nature magic ability, or do you want to be a warrior with sword and board? I like that it has a sandboxy feel to it.

Should you pay $6.99 for it? Not with the final boss being so broken that it crashes your game and denying you completion. I'd pick it up for $1. Currently it's 86% off so I would take advantage.

Never had the time to finish this game in 2002, now it's done 18 years later!!!
* The music is great, graphics are still ok, the game is addictive but really repetitive.
* A very long game: It took me 73 hours to finish this game (all quests and killing all ennemies).

The game has bugs:
* To start the game under Windows 10 you have to configure the launcher as if the game was running Windows XP and add some command lines, go the Steam forums for more details.
* The game crashes sometime, just quit and restart the game.
* Once you beat the final boss, the game crashes to the main menu, don't worry you haven't missed a lot, just the narrator's dialogue and the credits. You can see the ending on Youtube.

I can't recommend this game for everyone, this game is really long and not that interesting for today's standards... but it's ok if you have time or if you like the series and want to finish all the games.
